The cruise was pleasant enough but when we returned home we found our MasterCard had been charged for an unidentified item. Contacting Celebrity they informed us the charge was for items used from the mini bar. We, in fact, had not used any items from the mini bar during the entire cruise and, more to the point, had not authorised any payment. Very concerned that payment can be taken from your bank card without authorisation. The cleanliness on the ship was of a high standard, particularly in the Solarium, toilets and pool area. The one outstanding excursion on the cruise, was a visit to the Palamino Islands. Very memorable and worth the money. However, some of the other excursions during the cruise were expensive and not good value. Food in the Lido Cafe was often cold and much of the selection was repeated every day. Overall it was a pleasant cruise but left us dismayed at being charged for something we didn’t have.. Read Less

We were on a combined visit to Easter Island (which was superb) and then a cruise from Chile to San Diego. We were very happy with our stateroom, which was spacious, very comfortable and had an excellent balcony and bathroom.The ship - Celebrity Eclipse - is a good size has an attractive range of amenities while never seeming too big. We always felt the ship had plenty of space. Embarkation was quite straightforward as we had stayed in Santiago the day before and it was a simple coach ride to the port at San Antonio. In the dining room we chose to dine with other guests and the eight of us got on really well. In fact we spent quite a bit of leisure time together. We just clicked as a group. The quality of of food in the main dining room was generally poor - much worse than on Princess ships we have used in the past. We had a very nice waiter, but he got used to saying :'If there is anything you don't like I will change it,' when bringing dishes to our table. The food was sometimes cold, often unappetisingly presented and just not what we expected. The others on our table - regulars on Celebrity - said the standard of food on their ships had declined markedly in recent years. In contrast, the Ocean Cafe food was usually very good, with a terrific selection to choose from. Lunch was especially good. We also had one lunch in the dining room, which was a pleasant experience. We always enjoyed a drink in the evenings before dinner and often a nightcap afterwards. We soon realised that service in the bars was very poor - everyone seemed to be going to the bar and getting drinks themselves. We resorted to this - again, not what we expected. We complained about paying an 18% service charge when drinks service was basically do-it-yourself but they refused to remove it. If anything, service round the pool was even worse, with seldom a waiter in sight. The grill bar and ice cream bar were very good. We did not try the speciality restaurants as they were very expensive. Someone came round on a couple of nights offering us $20 per head discount if six of us went to eat there, but we declined. We found the speciality restaurants and drinks very expensive compared with Princess. We took the very expensive trip to Machu Picchu which was brilliant. I think it was contracted to another firm who really knew what they were doing, even though it was a very tiring experience. We thought this might be our one chance to go there and it was well worth doing. Evening entertainment was par for the course on cruise ships. The cruise director (entertainments director) was especially aggravating, referring to the captain all the time as 'Super Capitan.' He wasn't that super as he twice told us we were in the South Atlantic when we were in the South Pacific. There was a brilliant speaker on all kinds of wild life topics - she was one of the best we had heard. Disembarkation was very smooth and hassle free. Would we travel with Celebrity again? Probably not, as other shipping lines we have tried in the same sector of the market are cheaper and much better. Read Less

Price and itinerary.. Its was a destination that we did not do before. Food was good but not exceptional . Food was better on other celebrity crises we have been on . Disembarkation was awful. It appeared very organized with everyone given assigned times for immigration. But then they threw the schedules away huge groups go all at once . This caused long waits , long lines, long waits for elevators and lines jamming the stair cases. The captains club hostess did not seem overly friendly and a bit standoff and did not seem interested in the passengers. The cruise director was excellent. Bar staff / waiters seemed overwhelmed and service was slow. Stateroom attendant was excellent . ports in chile (except for santiago) and peru were poor and we would not do them again. Santiago and surrounding area was good. Would we do this cruise again ... No. shore excursions were expensive and limited. Read Less

We picked this cruise in 2017, and booked on last cruise as we had been to Antarctica and thought the Chilean fjords and around the Horn sounded great. Picked our tours on line, had our special C1 stateroom, over wake, and looking forward to cruise. Found out after final payment--our stateroom cost dropped almost to 1/2 our price--Celebrity was not easy to deal with-got a couple perks??? Then the "looking forward to" tours were cancelled for one reason or another?? The fjords were a waste --what we could see--the time of day--the weather--the Captains choices--same for going around the Horn (did not have to be early early morn)--soooo many things spoiled this expensive cruise. Food poising from the Murano restaurant, with nothing from hotel manager after being informed!! The entertainment was so poor---captive in the theater!!! The very last gift from Celebrity--the terrible cough many of us brought home with us--and still have. Think the new CEO is a bean pusher as the cost of everything has gone up-the quality is down--want the Celebrity Line from past 20 years??? GONE! The staff who is there to be of service to the clients are, as always, the top of the cruise lines---but hate to hear them beg for 10s on survey!! We will have to really think about returning to Celebrity---there are other lines to try--Elite Plus does not mean quite what it did. Unhappy with this cruise--can you tell?! Read Less

Having cruised across many different venues, this cruise offered something different in an area of the world we had not yet explored. Going in January meant it was summer but the weather was a bit colder than many people expected. We brought the right clothing but some must have expected beach weather. As always, Celebrity's service, food, entertainment and ambiancwe were great. They had many different excursion options, but not a single one provided support for handicap people. I use an electric scooter and the tours did not accommodate it. But we were able to find tours in every port that supported our needs. Often these were private taxi tours that were designed just for us. Celebrity did do a good job of getting me on and off the ship, even in tendered ports. This was greatly appreciated. This cruise highlighted seeing wild life (e.g. pengiuns, sea lions, sea birds and even an occasional whale). You would not see this scope of wild life anywhere else. It also took us to cities that have unique cultures and ways of life. It was very educational. Overall it was a vey good cruise. Read Less

Embarkation went smoothly enough. Meals in dining room not to my taste most nights so we ate in ocean view cafe. Mainly the stirfrys which were freshly cooked to order and were excellent, We found the ship activities to be lacking. Guest speakers... poor for trip what did Alaska act have to do with this Cruise? Very little info on ports except for a short talk on first sea day. Panama canal was excellent. Ship speaker was supposed to be heard in all public areas NOT. We could only hear inside not while out on deck 4 or on most upper areas this was so annoying. Ships crew we found to be excellent at their jobs, but not overly friendly. Entertainment was ok. Jayne Curry was excellent great to have her for 2 nights. Only ships excursion we took was sightseeing trip of Miami on last day as our flight was at 4.55pm. This was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish.we disembarked with tour at 7.30 am got through customs at 9.15am. Put luggage in truck for later collection. Then sat in open top bus for a further 75mins before tour eventually began. Tour finished at 1.10 guide said we would be in airport by 2pm. We had to queue on side of road go collect our luggage from truck. So disorganised then we sat in bus until 2.30. Eventually reached airport at 3.25pm. We had to rush to check in for international flight because we were do late we were separated on flight. We were not happy with this tour and would advise others not to do this tour. Overall we did not enjoy this cruise as we should have .if this had been our first cruise ever then we probably would not cruise again. Luckily we have done several other excellent cruises so all just put this cruise down to bad luck. Read Less

We usually cruise with Royal Carribean, but this itinerary appealed to us as a way back from a South America trip, so we decided to see what Modern Luxury is all about while wearing our Diamond Plus Royal Caribbean goggles. We have four previous cruises with Celebrity, the first ten years ago, and we thought we knew what to expect. EMBARKATION: Embarkation in San Antonio, Chile, was interesting. It is a commercial port trying to be a cruise terminal. After an hour and a half bus ride from the Santiago airport and checking in at a warehouse near the edge of the port, we were loaded onto yet another bus for a ride to the ship at the dock. We’ve seen better and we’ve seen worse, so we just went with the flow. We were in our cabin by 1:30 PM and our bags were delivered around 4:00 PM. CABIN: The cabin, 7049, was clean and comfortable. With more storage space than we needed – a first. Situated next to the hump cabins, we had an extra large, shaded balcony. The balcony door did not have a handle on the outside, just a slot to grab and pull the door open. The door was hard to open without a handle, but since it was designed that way, we lived with it. The toilet decided not to work in the middle of the night 4 out of the 15 nights on the cruise. Guest Relations said it was a known issue and they were working on it. CREW: Every crew member we encountered was smiling and said good morning or good evening – from restroom attendants to senior officers. Wait staff were attentive and efficient. Whomever is in charge of setting up disembarkation for port days did not do such a good job in Manta - more on that later. DINING: Oceanview Cafe – We disliked the Oceanview Café because it is so crowded with people wandering around trying to assemble a meal that it’s like the “Zombie Apocalypse” - as one fellow passenger described it. There is no clear delineation of flow for the serving lines and people just butt in where they please. We avoided eating meals there. When we did stop in for a snack, we noticed that the wooden chairs needed a good cleaning – there was so much dirt crusted on the back of one chair that I scraped some off to show one of the supervisors and merely received a shrug in response. MDR – We used the MDR for a few breakfasts and lunches just to steer clear of the buffet. A table for two may as well be a table for four, six, eight, or more since they are jammed together so closely that one cannot walk between the table. Service was good and the menu selections standard. We also ate some breakfasts and lunches in the Solarium Café, where it was easy to get a table and the selections were more healthful than other venues. The MDR in the evening was not at all pleasant and we only dined there on 10 of the 15 nights, opting for specialty dining on the other five evenings. The tables are very close and the other diners, probably deaf from the over-amplified music venues, seemed to shout their conversations during the meal. Shouting waiters added to the din. Not at all a pleasant atmosphere. The food, however was very good, well presented, and right-sized portions. Had the food not been so good, we would have avoided the MDR in the evenings because of the noise levels. Specialty dining – We ate in Qsine only once. The Qsine food was delicious but the menu on the electronic tablets was hard to understand and the waiter did little to help explain what was an appetizer and what was a main. Give me a regular menu. Sushi on 5 was wonderful, with a very attentive waiter and a wide variety of sushi to choose from. The Tuscan Grill was our favorite and we ate three evening meals there, and enjoyed a light morning breakfast and specialty coffee drinks there on most mornings. We enjoyed the atmosphere and service of the Specialty Dining venues, especially when compared to the MDR and Oceanview. ENTERTAINMENT: Since this varies from ship to ship, I won’t go into detail. The production shows were very good – but too over-amplified to be pleasant. Earplugs helped. The guest entertainers were also very good and not quite as over-amplified. PORTS: We booked the cruise primarily as transportation back from a land tour in South America, and not for the ports of call. We did walk around in Arica, Chile, and Georgetown, Grand Cayman, but did not book any excursions. The stop in Manta, however, is worth noting. Having been there before, we were undecided about going into town for a look around. The ship announced that free shuttle buses would be provided from the ship to the town center/shopping area. After the announcement was made that the gangway was open, we went down to the promenade deck to see how long the line for the shuttles was and determine if we should wait a while. There was no line – only a large mob of approximately 250-300 people waiting for the yet-to-appear shuttle buses. Celebrity did nothing to establish or control a line. When the first shuttle bus arrived, the mob surged and all 300 people tried to get on the first bus. We saw a fight breakout at the steps to the bus and one man trying to pull another man off the second step of the bus. At that point I ran down to Guest Relations and told them they needed to get security out there and that one fight had already broken out. I went back outside to the promenade to watch the most unorganized shuttle bus system I had ever witnessed. We decided to avoid the melee and have a peaceful day on the ship. One would think that Celebrity had never organized a port day or a shuttle bus system before. It was certainly a poor example of Modern Luxury. CHAIR HOGS: The Infinity made a feeble attempt to cut down on chair hogs with a few little folded placards placed on the pool and solarium loungers in the mornings, however with no enforcement, the chair hogs just pushed the placards aside and set up camp. I witnessed chair hogs “reserving” loungers and sunbeds as early as 6:00 AM, using a variety of towels, flip flops, magazines, paperbacks, and large plastic clips to hold the towels in place. Often those same loungers were “reserved” hours later – and on port days “reserved” all day long until the hogs returned from their excursions. Not once did I see any of the pool staff removing the chair hog nests. With no enforcement in place, more and more people started “reserving” loungers and sunbeds. Another poor example of Modern Luxury. DISEMBARKATION: Disembarkation from the ship in Fort Lauderdale was well organized, until we reached the Customs and Immigration lines. There were four agents to process some 2,100 passengers. Signs for “US and non-US” were not apparent and there was insufficient line management so that yet another mob formed adjacent to the bag retrieval area. We settled down in some chairs to wait out the mob, and only later discovered the mob was trying to get through the “Non-US” lines and the “US” line was almost empty. We gathered our bags and were through the immigration check in under 10 minutes – happily leaving the growing “Non-US” mob to be processed by only two agents. No wonder the Fort Lauderdale port has such a bad reputation on Cruise Critic. CONCLUSION: After watching Royal Caribbean turn into floating county fairs, and with Celebrity losing their “premium” luster to the mass market, it’s time to expand our horizons and find cruise lines that cater to grownups and offer a more genteel way to cruise. The infinity is definitely showing some age, some rust here and there, some fraying fabric on chairs and probably the most obvious is the state of the cabin bathrooms which are really in need of some overhaul. On the other hand, the crew is outstanding...friendly, always say hello when passing. The food has actually, IMHO, improved....the food on the infinity is actually spiced so if the dish says "spicy", it actually is spicy. I also found that although they use a lot of salt, there seem to be less used on our cruise. Breadsticks were great when they weren't soggy which happened twice in select dining...quickly replaced. Our cabin attendant was terrific and thorough....but of course that varies (read the aqua class cabin review here). The ports are the ports...this is a big ship and it docks where it can...and as with many, if not most cruise ships, that's in whatever container port is available. South America is not Europe. Yes, the infinity was running on one pod, but that didn't cause any issues for our cruise. We had guest speakers...talking about arctic exploring and auto racing....even though this was a panama canal cruise. No talks on the panama canal (or any other port)...pretty clear that celebrity just wanted to find two speakers on most any topic. We saw the introduction of the new aqua spa cafe...nothing cooked to order, you just order from a fixed menu and they prepare your small plate on the spot. This is about the fourth try at change for that venue....at some point, they'll get it right. Select dining worked well on our cruise...almost no wait at all as long as you are willing to dine with others. Something new on our cruise (and perhaps on others), we had a menu, but there was a chef's special entree almost every night...and those were really good (and well seasoned). Hope this becomes a standard offering. I would not avoid the infinity (or other M-class ships), but at this point, given similar itineraries, I'd book one of the S-class ships first. Prior to the conversion of aft deck 12 to an open air theater with movies running from 10AM to midnight, we actually preferred deck 11 aqua cabins on the M-class to other options...but no more because we use our balcony and like quiet. If the itinerary fits what you want, you'll have a good time on the infinity (or other m-class ship), but be prepared to find reminders that it's getting pretty long on the tooth. Read Less

+++++Value. I Love Celebrity and the Infinity is an older ship but so comfortable for us! Let's start from the beginning: March 14th: We choose to break up our trip and fly from Fort Lauderdale to Bogota, Columbia. It was a 5 hour flight on Avianca Airlines (an airline we haven't traveled). The flight was great, I would definately fly with them again. We booked the Marriott Bogota Airport. It was a good choice with shuttle service to and from the airport. The rooms were nice and it had a restaurant on the premesis with good food. March 15th: We book a full day tour with Bogota Travel tours. They were great and we had a fun day in Bogota! I would recommend them! March 16th: Flight to Santiago was 6 hours and we were met at the airport by our driver. We stayed at the Santiago Marriott Hotel in an Executive room with a Mountain and City View. It was beautiful ! The sunsets were some of the best I have seen. We had Lounge access and used it for our dinner that evening. It was nice enough to have the tapa's, wine , and desert. March 17th: We had a tour the next day of Santiago and had lunch in Maipo Valley. Maipo Valley was beautiful with lots to do. They had river rafting, hiking, and a great Zip line with a beautiful waterfall! That evening we did the lounge again since we had a big lunch. We all had our St Patrick day garb on and had some fun with that as well! March 18th: We were picked up at the hotel for our transfer to the ship which was in San Antonio, Chile. On the way to the ship we stopped in Casablanca Valley for wine tasting. The wine was good, but the tasting experience was expensive. I would probably leave that out the next time. My brother bought wine at the winery to take on the ship, and later we found he could have bought the same quality of wine for half of what he paid!! We should have known better when our tour guide called it a boutique winery!! The name of the winery was Casa Marin. We boarded the ship around 2pm. The process was very smooth both for my husband and I who were Concierge and our fellow travelers my bother and sister-in-law and friends were in a balcony and they boarded just about 20 minutes after us and said the process was good. Our room was nice with a slightly bigger room and balcony then our fellow travelers. I was surprised that we had a bigger room because I thought they were the same size as the balcony rooms. We met our room steward whose name was Arthur! He was wonderful! In a Concierge cabin you get a bottle of Champagne the morning after boarding and canapé's daily. I have not been fond of some of the canapé's I have had on other voyages, so I asked Arthur if he could just have them send Cheese and crackers daily. I also asked him to send a bottle of red wine in lieu of the Champagne. No problem done!!!! He was fantastic attending cheerfully to our every need! I miss my friend Arthur as I write this review! We ate the early dinner (6pm) and enjoyed all the many meals. They are so accomodating on Celebrity. My brother who has Celiac Disease has to have a gluten free diet, and the staff and chef went our of their way to prepare his meals. We went to the Ocean View several times and the food was great there as well! We did not go to any of the specility restaurants this trip!! We figured why when the food in the main dinning room was so good!! The Martini bar was lots of fun we had cocktails there on a couple of occasions and the staff was fun! We had several sea days and they went by quickly with all the activities offered. We enjoyed 2 scavenger hunts, several trivia sessions, some afternoon shows and of course a few swims in the Thelasothearpy pool! So relaxing! March 21: Our first port of call was Arica, Chile. We had a tour with South Excursions. We saw some very interesting things such as the ex customs building and St. Marks Cathedral which were both built by Eiffel. We saw beautiful panels of Geoglyphs. We visited San Miguel de Azapa Archaeological Museum to see the Mummies of the Chinchorro culture! Who knew they date back earlier (10,000 years) than the Egypian Mummies!!! The boys were fansinated with the 9 hole golf course with the greens being black sand! It was a great day and we were glad we had a private tour with just the six of us! March 23: Pisco, Peru was our next port and we were met at the Arica pier by South American Secrets for a six hour tour. We first rode a bus with several other passengers and our six person group to the port where we boarded a boat to what they called "The Peruvian Galapagos" it was fantastic with close up encounters with lots of bird species and sea otter and penguins. It lasted a couple of hours and was a blast! From there we visited the Paracas National Reserve. We had a little discrepency in the amount of money we owed the company, but it was settled pretty quickly. I would advise e-mailing until the price is settled to your satisfaction. The tour guide apologized to me for the misunderstanding and the tour was good so I would recommend them with the stipulation noted above. March 24th: Lima Peru was our next port and we again booked a private tour, this time with Monica tours. She is the bomb!!! She drove and Natalie was our tour guide. The traffic in Lima is really incredible with cars zooming in and out! You would think there were no lanes!! Fantastic tour With a fun visit to Love Park and several museums into the night with the final hour taking us to Parque De La Reserve and the Magic Water Circuit. It was a park with 13 fountains with a light, Lazar and water show that was magical!!! I would again recommend Monica Tours if you want to do a private tour! March 27th Our next stop was Manta, Ecuador. We did this port on our own. We took the shuttle to the Market and shopped. Some of us bought a Panama hat!! March 29th Full Panama Canal transit! Very interesting. We had a person on board giving us all the details of the transit. Celebrity did a good job. It was especially fun watching Holland Americas cruise ship going through the canal to our right! We met some of the passengers in Grand Cayman a few days later and we laughed about watching each other go through the locke. March 31: Grand Cayman and our only tour booked with Celebrity was a great time. We saw Dolphins and Stingray up close and swam in the Ocean. We had a lot of Sea days, but I was not bored for a second!! Would recommend this cruise !! Read Less

We chose this cruise as we were a group of 10 persons who have all travelled widely and were looking for new destinations. The Panama Canal cruise with South American ports of call ticked most of the group's boxes. The ship's facilities were excellent as were the entertainment on sailing days and evening theatre. The state room cabins were excelent and were perfectly serviced by the cabin steward. The stand out service on the ship was the evening dining in the Trellis Restaurant. We were provided with a group table for 10 persons and were attended too excelently by a waiter, assistant waiter and sommellier every evening that we dined in the restuarant. The shore excursions were excellent with well trained guides in attendance. The shore excursion to Manta was not to the same standard as the other excursions. Unfortunately, what could have been a 5 star cruise and matching survey was really let down by the chaotic embarkation at San Antonio, Chile and the even more chaotic disembarkation at Port Lauderdale where most of the ship's passengers were kept in line for over 3.5 hours waiting for US Border control to allow entry. We just got off the Celebrity Infinity on her re-position cruise from South America to Fort Lauderdale. Considering she was limping on only one good engine, her support staff and Captain sure did an excellent job getting us from Chile to Florida, and through the Panama Canal, with as least an interruption to our schedule as they could manage. We didn't miss any ports of call as planned and the weather and seas were fantastic. While the boat is looking a bit long in the tooth, the staff, food (Tuscan gill included) and nightly shows made up for any shortcomings and all were all amazing. i would have given the cruise a perfect score except for the horrendous debarkation that most of us went through. Three hours in line for US customs in Fort Lauderdale. A total fiasco. However, if you were a US citizen you did get priority and were probably off in under two hours. We were not, and waited with most of the other people for over three hours and there were others behind us who probably waited even longer. What a way to end a glorious cruise. Read Less

While we enjoyed each port for different reasons and the excursions offered by Celebrity were good, and one time we were an hour late getting back to the ship, but they held the ship, making it good that we used the cruiseline for excursions. We went to see the penguins at Estancia San Lorenzo. We were told this colony broke off from the colony with a million penguins, and there were a couple thousand at this place, actually there were many thousands. Hot and dusty but probably better and less smelly and a shorter time on the dusty bus than the million penguin tour. Expected much rougher seas..for a couple of hours we had high winds from the side, but expected more around Tierra Del Fuego. Entertainment was spotty, but we really enjoyed the comedian. Food was typicaly good in the restaurants, but the buffets were below expectations. Trying to get a drink from a waiter in most bars was a hassle. Standing at the bar to get one wasnt much better. They warned everyone to be careful about thieves, and we were very cautious, but in the airport in Buenos Aires my wife's purse was stolen from right beside her. The tour company supervisor and the American Airlines personnel were VERY nice, but they could not do too much..What a nightmare, had to stay an extra day because we could not leave due to no passports. We will be dealing with that for a long time, but evidently these were professional thieves that work together...be careful !! Read Less

Going around the horn was a bucket list item. That box is now checked. The ship itself is showing wear and tear -- nothing broken, but obvious use and lack of cosmetic maintenance. The cabin showed similar wear -- a broken hinge here, lumpy well-worn mattress, towels that might once have been fluffy, scrathed woodwork. Again, nothing was really broken, but work is needed. Dining was great. We ate in Blu. The staff was excellent and attentive -- Tanya, the maitre d', Rosabel, who knew everyone by sight in once day, Eduardo a wonderful waiter, Rina the attentive and friendly assistant waiter, and Fernando, the stellar sommelier. The activities staff was among the best I've encountered. They were active, fun, and smart. William and Dean helped make the cruise. The production shows and guest artists ran from very good to fantastic. Service was excellent -- as expected. Bar staff (especially Rodman) were on the ball. Cafe del Baccio was staffed with great people. Since the point of the cruise was going to the bottom of the world and rounding the horn, special notice goes to Mickeylive, and thanks to Celebrity for having people like him on board to educate us. The shore excursions were not varied, we didn't have to agonize over a choice, but the ones offered were good, and we certainly felt we learned and got value from each. The last day trip to Estancia La Mimosa was excellent and the Tango show was fantastic. Would we go again? This was my trip, the wife said "ok, i"ll go". But when we were boarding the plane to go home, she said "Let's do this trip again". Read Less

I chose this cruise for the Cruise Line, itinerary, perks, price. I loved that there was a naturalist on board that informed us daily at his seminars, but Celebrity should also narrate via TV and speaker system, as they do in Alaska, so that we can take advantage of our balcony. The Theater entertainment on board was outstanding, with each night even better than the last. The violinist was my favorite, but each entertainer was extremely talented. As usual, Blu did not disappoint with breakfast and dinners. The entire wait staff in Blu were the best we have ever experienced, and I have been on about 48 cruises (I've lost count). All the bars were fun, especially the Martini Bar and anywhere that Willy from Philli (William from the Philippines) was working, usually in the Casino and buffet deck bar. I have a problem with the prices on excursions, as they have really increased in price over the past couple of years, so, therefore we book our own off the ship. We usually had a minibus that held about 18 passengers, and the guides were excellent. The cost was $20 - $75/person, a far cry from cruise rates, and did the same exact tours. However, since the ship was leaving Punta Arenas early (3:00pm), due to one engine down, we missed out penguin tour that I scheduled off the ship. Not too happy about that one. Read Less

Adds up real fast.The ship is a Well maintained ship, the ship was Put into service in 2000, need some updating,the tile in the bath room floor is cracked and had a lot of caulk everywhere.the cabin needs updating .Very dated. Other people has problems with toilet but had same on other ships in the past. Our room were clean and our cabin steward Roger was top notch. The concierge service was nothing great compared to H.A. , Not worth $300.00 person extra charge.The crew was great, friendly,went the extra mile to help passengers., food was o.k. Waited over 1 hour for lobster on only lobster night. Should have had Chileian seafood and local inspired dishes.Nothing special, limited selections,plumbing and spa has problems. We have enjoyed Celebrity Cruises in the past and we were not disappointed this time either. Staff, crew, food - especially the Martini Bar staff, all were excellent and we had a great cruise. Our cabin steward, Randy, was the best! We also really enjoyed the South American specialist, Mickey and his Mickeylive program, he was a fountain of knowledge - really amazing and made the cruise special.The down side was the 5:30 am timing of the sunrise club - which for some reason was the time the ship would be cruising through the Fjords, Glacier Alley, Beagle Channel and 6 am for Cape Horn. Those were tough mornings - but we were on vacation so would often just head back to bed! Lol. We enjoyed all the ports and went on some great tours/excursions. (All private). Seeing the penguins in Punta Tumbo was a highlight. Urauguay, was an amazing country, as well. we stayed for three nights prior to the cruise in Valparaiso, Chile and for three nights following the cruise in Buenos Aires, they were both amazing. Celebrity is our favorite cruise line. We had sailed on Infinity before and love the size of the ship. We were in Aqua Class on Deck 11 Aft. Boarding was a breeze, there was a glitch coming from Santiago to San Antonio. We lost about 2 hours due to transportation issues with Celebrity. We had select dining which was great for our needs. Our favorite locations on the ship, solarium, Blu Restaurant, Martini Bar(go Johannes), Casino and the buffet for lunch . Our favorite excursions, the museum tours and Penguin tour with lunch at the beautiful lodge. Our last night we took the ship tour of Tango and Dinner, outstanding! One of our best excursions was the boat trip to see the Comerans and sea lions with a bus trip to Tiera Del Fuego. Very exciting! We have already booked another cruise on Celebrity Summit for New England and Canada in the fall. Read Less

We wanted to cruise Cape Horn and see Valpairaiso, "Glacier Alley: with five smallish glaciers within an hour’s sailing: Italia, Hollandia, Allemagne, Romanche & Espana, etc. But everything went wrong and the trip with Celebrity wasn't at all what we had payed for and expected ! 1. Celebrity Infinity could not leave in Valparaiso but instead the ship was leaving in San Antonio. Because of this we had no time left to visit Valparaiso and Vina del mar. 2. We do understand that the captain decided for the safety of the passengers that we couldn't tender in Punta Arenas. So, we have missed Punta Arenas too. The the captain decided to go straight ahed to Ushuaia and he had permission to dock instead of tendering, so that was good news. 3. But because of that decision we have missed all the glaciers because it was in the middle of the night and dark, we couldn't see a thing ! So we have missed all the glaciers too !!!! So we speak only for our own experience of course, 4 adult people, (2 couples), we are very disappointed in this trip. It was not worth the money! And we are very disappointed in Celebrity too. Less staff and less motivated staff. Not all of them: especially thanks too Shindi, Nicole, Rodolfo who were doing a great job in the dining room and the barman Yoga (Rendez Vous) and Edwin (Martini Bar). We were not very pleased with our housekeeping. We had to ask for everything: toiletpaper, shampoo, conditioner.....We tipped him the 3th day 20$ to avoid us from asking, but it went from better to worse. I do love every ship and Infinity is no different. Yeah she is a little bit older but that does not bother me. I like the movie area up on Deck 12 - although most of my cruise "Around the Horn" was too cold to enjoy it. I also love the sunset bar on Deck 10 aft. I was staying on Deck 11 and was able to take a stairwell right down to that bar. Finally with the cruise I was on - I spent most of the time in Constellation Lounge looking out at the beauty ahead of me. Service on this ship was great! Especially in Blu! I was blown away by the service there. And the food in Blu was fantastic. Martini bar is a blast and I completely enjoyed trying some new ones. Solarium was super nice for this particular cruise as it was always nice and warm - which was needed for about 50% of this cruise. Overall - had a great time and I would not hesitate to cruise on Infinity again. Read Less

We chose the cruise to be able to visit various ports in Chile, Argentina and Uruguay and see the very varied landscape of southern South America and view the abundant wild-life. We like the size of the Infinity and found it very comfortable. The Infinity does seem like it is due to be refurbished. Furniture, fixtures and linens were older and seemed worn and really need to be redone. Linens and towels seemed of lower quality and were dull and not up to the standards on other celebrity cruises. Our cabin steward was wonderful. Dining was excellent. We typically sat with others and enjoyed meeting many new travelers and sampling excellent food. Embarcation and Disembarkation worked well although we were very disappointed in the late change of the port from Valparaiso to San Antonio and the companies very poor response to help customer make that transiton. First we were told that we had to make our own way and then after complaints to supervisors, were able to get a bus to the new location after staying overnight near the airport. We had to cancel a planned trip to Valparaiso. The excursions were good but the tender service was awful. As one client mentioned, this is not their first rodeo and they should have a better system. It was hard to get off the ship if you didn't pay for one of the Celebrity excursions - we had to complain to get off early enough on Sunday to get to a church service. Some of the tenders were not full when they left because they didn't send enough people down at the prescribed time. It was frustrating and people were left to sit in public areas with little staff support and with lots of dishes and cups just left without clean-up. Really needed better management of the tenders and up-keep of the ship. We loved the discussions by Micky Live who was an absolute treasure of information. Celsea Behymer, the naturalist, was excellent and really spent quite a bit of time with cruisers. We loved that part. The scenery was excellent. Read Less

I was a little apprehensive about this cruise as I had read some iffy reviews of the ship. The ship, it turned out, was amazing. In fact, we preferred it to the Equinox as the atmosphere was much friendlier. Embarkation and disembarkation were a breeze. We had upgraded to Aqua Class and were not disappointed. The access to the Persian Garden was particularly welcome on this cruise as the weather was not warm! I cannot speak highly enough of the Blu restaurant. The food was great and the staff were beyond great! They just couldn't do enough for us. We ate once in the Trellis with some friends and it was fine. We also ate in the Tuscan Grille and Qsine. Both were excellent (the filet mignon in the Tuscan is the stuff dreams are made of), although we ate far too much food on both occasions. We ate breakfast once in the Oceanview and decided not to repeat the experience as it was a bit chaotic. We ate lunch there on two occasions and met some lovely people, but found the food uninspiring. We also lunched in the Trellis restaurant a couple of times and were suitably impressed with both the food and the service which we felt were better than in the evening. Cafe Bacchio was a regular haunt for us. The entertainment was fabulous, on the whole. Sean O Shea and the flautist were excellent and I believe a girl singer Colleen ? was also, although we didn't see her. The ship's company were quite new and improved over the two weeks. They were great in the ensemble numbers, but individually their voices were not that strong but, as I say, they were growing in confidence. The ship's orchestra were really good and justly deserve the plaudits that they receive from the visiting artistes. Entertainment in the public areas was also good. I especially liked the woman pianist/singer and Judah, my husband liked the folksie duo. We participated in the guest choir and the trivia quizzes which were hosted with great humour. All of this is overseen by Luigi, who was amazing and, I think, was responsible for the general feeling of friendliness on the boat. The service was excellent in all spheres and all of the activities started bang on time. We only did one ship's excursion. As we missed the penguins in Punta Arenas we booked the ship's tour to Punto Lombo. We enjoyed it but thought that it was way overpriced. After our first cruise on Equinox we felt that we would cruise again, but not very often. We are now converts! We have already booked our next cruise and can't wait! Read Less

Do not go on any Celebrity Ship that is not newer! We had a horrible time. Nothing was kept up and no one cared. The crew were not properly trained. The phone service did not work. So much was dirty. There was norovirus for months and months. There were floods and constant wet floors and the ceiling was leaking. So many of the Officers were so snooty. I'm not sure I will do on Celebrity again, but if I do, it will be on a new Ship. They made promises that were not kept. The loungers at the poo, were uncomfortable. We really did not like a thing about the Cruise Ship itself exceoy a few of the crew. I would stay far far away from this Ship or any Millenium class ships from Celebrity. Oh, the HVAC system did not work properly the entire time! Read Less

Usually really enjoy Celebrity cruises but this one was just average. The worst part was that the ship got the norovirus and lots of things changed because of this. There were a lot of sick people. They had to starting serving in the buffet instead of people serving themselves. There were taking extra precautions in sanitizing the ship...all the things they should have been doing from the beginning so people did not get sick. The entertainment was good for the most part. Since it was a repositioning cruise there were a lot of days at sea and they could have had more activities during the days at sea and a wider selection instead of the same things over and over. Going through the Panama Canal was amazing and well worth it if you have the chance. The staff was all very nice. Some of the shore excursions were good and some not what they advertised they were. When we complained about one, they offered a 10% credit!! The embarkation process was really awful...stood in line for 1 1/2 hours to be checked in. Since this was a South America cruise, they could have had more South American food, entertainment and music. Read Less

Wanted to visit Chile, Peru and Ecuador. Weather was perfect and the seas calm all the way. Embarkation in Valparaiso was something! Remember embarkations like that YEARS and years ago! Happy it wasn't raining. Capt. and bridge staff were friendly and were at many social functions. Enjoyed Elite status - Celebrity is generous with their loyalty program and it was appreciated. Dining in the Blu restaurant was enjoyable, although the staff seemed quite stressed. However, they were trying their best to please everyone. Appeared the public areas had been recently updated, everything was in tip top shape. Carpeting designs are beautiful. Felt the ship service crew was understaffed. The ship's emporiums didn't have much to offer. Tour department must be a concession - the tour staff seemed like they were waiting, eagerly, for the trip to be over. It wasn't pleasant dealing with them. Didn't appear they researched the shore excursions that were offered. Was not satisfied with any of the excursions selected, although there were enjoyable experiences. Read Less
