My husband and I recently took a Celebrity cruise to the Greek isles on the Reflection. It was out of Barcelona to the Greek Isles, September 30,2019- October12,2019. This was our third cruise with Celebrity and we had really enjoyed our past cruising experience with your line. We did get a very good deal with all 4 perks. On this cruise, things were not up to the same level of customer service as previously experienced. There were a somethings that were great. Our main dining room team and room attendant were excellent. The ship itself is up to date and was extremely clean.(The exception being a poor quality TV in our cabin and some broken ellipticals). Internet was very fast. The ship’s officers were very friendly. Qusine was the best dining that we had on board. Even if it didn't have the movie, the food was worth it. The dining room food overall was pretty good. The Cafe/buffet was good for breakfast. We were impressed that Celebrity had endorsed a lovely, small shop in Athens that sold items made only in Greece. The subdued lighting in the bathroom was a very welcome feature. Disembarkation was very smooth and easy. The musical group ANCORA was fabulous!!! Other productions like Elysium and the magician were very good. The hypnotist wasn't so great. Other things were not so great. Our priority check-in as Concierge passengers was non-existent. Passengers in the general boarding area were processed much faster and ahead of us. So no benefit there. Luggage drop off was chaotic. Also no health form was offered? No champagne was offered once we were on board. I saw it sitting on trays, but not being offered??? Once on board, the muster drill was way too long. It was at least a half hour of standing. Not a comfortable situation and the mini-action film shown was really, really unnecessary. Our premium drink package was not what we expected. The wine listings offered had very limited choices, with hardly any for chardonnay. The wines available were not up to the standard that Celebrity offered on our past two cruises. Many wines were not available as the cruise progressed. Very disappointing. One thing we found concerning was that while the Hand Wash Lady ( people walked right by) was very warm and welcoming, the overall staff demeanor in the Oceanview Cafe was quite sullen. The wonderful service experienced on other Celebrity Ships (Caribbean cruises), in the Cafe area, was not present here. So we wondered what was happening in that venue. ( I think (only my opinion) that possibly since the majority of guests on this cruise were from Europe and that many frown upon the added daily gratuity policy, and in some cases don't want to pay it or leave any additional monies, that this may have set the tone of the staff. A whole season of perhaps substandard tips could make people disinterested? (Maybe the E.U. pricing should be structured differently, so tip is included in price and never mentioned again to that clientele.) Our only time in main dining room for breakfast and I wound up next to a woman who told the person next to her that she came on board with a bad head cold and gave it to her traveling partner who was unable to join her for breakfast. I heard a lot of serious coughing going on. And saw not a lot of hygiene from the clientele. Excellent service in Murano and Tuscan Grille. Tuscan Grille has been better in the past, so we changed a second reservation there to Qusine. My husband experienced broken gym equipment: 4 elliptical machines were not working properly. (Screens not working) Hair dryer in room isn't that strong. My husband had requested a cake for my birthday, I asked him to cancel it which was fine because it appears I wouldn’t have gotten the cake since no record of request his could be found. FYI: This also happened to friends of ours who cruised with Celebrity recently. The constant selling was really quite ramped up from our past experience to beyond an annoying level. Especially the first few days. We pre-planned and booked all our tours through Celebrity. First remember to bring a roll of 50 cent euro coins for bathrooms. Attendants don't/won't in most cases make change. The ship doesn't have coin available only bills. Some of our tours with the ship were great others were not so wonderful. I would recommend doing Mykonos on your own. It is a small village and you don't need 50 people in tow. The tender drops you right on the dock. You can take the same public ferry our tour took to Delos right from the dock (ticket booth right there). Ferry constantly going back and forth. We had to tender, but "The Edge" had to take a shuttle, so our spot was actually better. The lunch included on our tour was just okay. Our guide got a little short tempered when 2 woman asked about bathroom facilities. 50 people are too many as a group, especially here. In Messina Italy we went to Taromina. About an hour away. It is worth it. Beautiful town, great tour guide. Santorini was nice to see, but our guide was unprofessional in a few ways. One was arguing with 2 women on our bus back from Fira. This tour is the one to do, since you don't have to wait on the cable car line to tender back. Those that took that option did at their own additional time and expense. The bus took us to Oia, the Santos Winery and Fira. Plenty of free time in the towns. Winery had free bathrooms, some snacks and wine to sample, so this was a great stop in the middle. Our original Blue Grotto was not available due to weather. We tried the Hop on Hop off in Malta with tickets purchased through ship (30.00 each U.S.) It wasn't great since the bus (old) had non-working headphones. Island is stunning as you enter/leave port. Can't tell you more than that since we didn't get any info. Rhodes was another walled city and ancient ruin trip that was really very good. Guide was very pleasant and informative. Athens you should go on a tour or get a guide to get into and around and the acropolis. It is extremely crowded, but worth it since it was our first and only time. Our guide was very nice and professional. We also stopped at a small store that Celebrity recommended, which I was pleased to find the shopkeepers very friendly and all the items were made in Greece with low prices. We did see the 2 ladies with the large white poodle another reviewer wrote about. The dog seemed well-behaved, but I still wouldn't want to eat adjacent to it or sit near it on a tour. There was a large group of people with disabilities on this cruise, who amazed me with how well they were able to tackle some of the difficult terrain. Also we used private car service SUN TRANSFERS to and from pier/airport. They were there early and had clean cars with pleasant drivers. Taxis are limited when you disembark, so get off early if you want to get a taxi. They thin out, I would guess, until guests start arriving for afternoon embarkation. The ship did offer bus service to the airport for around $60.00 per person. We pre-paid $100.00 round trip with tip included. We gave a few euros extra, each way as well. Not sure I would recommend Celebrity or go on again. Certainly not as Concierge. Not worth extra. Our Princess and other cruise line experiences have been so much better. Read Less

We picked this cruise because of the ports especially La Spezia as we wanted to go to Cinque Terre and also the price. Ship embarkation was well organized and quick. Cabin was inside guarantee and was on deck 8 front and was spacious lots of storageand larger bathroom also with lots of cupboards. It was a long walk to main dining room. Dining only did main dining room which we had fixed time to eat 6:15pm but table wasstuck under stairway but quieter area than other tables.Food was okay lobster one night but it was tough. Every night they had salmon, chicken or one other item standard. Appetizerswere okay had scrimp cocktails most nights. Desserts were mostly very rich and didn't find them that great. Main buffet ate lunch and breakfast there good variety. Did breakfast once in main dining room but mostly egg dishes or pancakes no variety.Did not do any speciality restaurants as they were expensive. Entertainment was lacking only one night with good production last night. Had areas roped off in the theater for only certain people which didn't make you feel welcome. Did this in some dining rooms you couldn't use at all. Activities were almost non existent nothing on pool area except screaming kids and a band that played for 40 minutes who couldn't sing and weren't very good. Quiet pool was too cold to sit in with air conditioning. Steward for cabin was outstanding. Disembarkation was very well organized was off in 5 minutes as we had our own luggage. Did not do any ship excursions. Civitavecchia port took Roma Cabs from airport very effecient as plane was 3 hours late and they were there. Stayed at Hotel Traino comes with breakfast and free shuttle to ship. LaSpezia took cab then train to Cinque Terre bought ticket for Cinque Terre online unlimited use for 13Euro for senior. Nice(Villefranche) tendered port very effecient went right off onto shuttle boat coming and going. Took local train to Nice then hop on hop off bus but should have taken the hop on hop off bus from port stops at castle entrance right at port Villefranche. Ajaccio, Corsia walked around town Cagiliari, Sardina took Petit Train or 9Euro went up and down narrow streets plus checked out local market Naples wanted to go to island of Capri but arrived in port at 9am and couldn't get off ship till 9:30am and calling for thunderstorms so didn't go on high speed ferry. We did the hop off hop on bus around Naples did the red route downtown area and also the blue route which was along the coast. It cost 23Euros. Rome took an extra day after cruise stayed at Hotel Ariston gave us a free upgradeand walked to train station to catch hop on hop off bus took the green line one but not a good tour stops were no where near the sites. Took bus to airport left from train station and was $6.90Euro. Ship was spotless even had lawn on the upper deck. I travelled with my husband and he didn't really enjoy Celebrity cruise line probably wouldn't book with Celebrity again. Read Less

We chose this ship mainly for the itinerary, and we had heard celebrity cruises was one of the best. This was our third cruise and to be honest the worst entertainment out of them all. There was only one band playing everywhere who had a weak singer, and a solo acoustic singer who was a bit depressing! The shows were done by their own team, average. No sail away party or announcements at all. The food was good if you upgraded, you was hounded for the first few days to pay for them like double glazing salesmen! In peak times the queue at the bars was long, you could wait 20mins regularly. We had a balcony cabin, pretty much as same as we had had before. On sea days there was a severe lack of sunbeds, you had to get on one by 8am and if you left it for 30mins it was taken away from you and given to someone who had just got up. We had to have breakfast and lunch one at a time on these days to keep the sunbeds. Surely the cruise line can stretch to a few more beds to solve this issue?? The staff were all happy and worked hard, the buffet restaurant had a great choice and the ship was very nice. Read Less

Celebrity Reflection, June 29th to July 09th 2018. We choose this cruise because it included Santorini and Athens the two places that this cruise included but we had not visited previously. The ship was full and included a rather larger number of children than normal. The children being children were loud, boisterous and played around in the lifts. Security guards were noted by their absence. The children also ran around some of the passageways we were informed by other guests. Unfortunately there were also a number of issues with the toilets, in that you could not flush your cabin toilet which was rather more than an inconvenience (excuse the pun). This happened over a number of days. Officers were also noted by their absence unlike previous cruises were they were quite visible. Problems with neighbouring guests slamming their cabin door was also an irritation especially around 5am. On a much brighter note the crew were as charming, efficient, courteous and friendly as ever, with some instantly recognising us from earlier cruises. Cocktail Bar: Muni, Komang Adrian and Iwayan Restaurant BLU: Paul, Jorge, Krasimir, Mirian, Ronald and Whale Mast Bar: The ever lively and friendly Bagus along with Ketut Ocean View Cafe: Leighton Our dear friend Nyoman and last but by no means least our stateroom attendant Marites. I should also mention our first captain who was very witty. Read Less

We chose this company as we hoped to get everything at level 5*. But unfortunately, our hopes were not realized. In the future, we are unlikely to choose a cruise with this company. Pros: the ship is new, beautiful, and comfortable. The cabins are spacious. Staff is well prepared. Cleaning of cabins and service in the main dining room at the proper level. Odds: It takes a lot of time to wait for elevators; the choice of dishes in the main dining room is quite poor. The Cruise director's work corresponds to the ship level 2*, but not 5*. There was our 9th cruise and worse entertainment than here anywhere else was. Poorly organized transfers. The first time we faced the fact that all transfers have to be paid. The excursion to the Florence with the boat was organized badly. It does not correspond to the description in the brochure. Read Less

We chose this cruise since it was going to all of the ports we were interested in going to. We were both celebrating our 70th birthdays. We have been on Celebrity before on an Alaskan cruise two years ago and were quite satisfied. However, this cruise left a little to be desired. The cabin was very nice and our cabin steward was terrific. Even though we are now 70 years old, we are not old and feeble and like to enjoy life. We were disappointed that a lot of the bars were not open late in the evening....we had to go to the outdoor bar (which was a little chilly) to get a drink after 11pm. The ice bar was open but was crowded. Also, as far as the buffet is concerned, we were disappointed in the lack of variety of foods. It seemed that it was mostly the same day after day. The Tuscan Grille however was fantastic!! We didn't utilize the shore excursions from Celebrity due to their price. We were able to get the same excursions through Costco at a lower price. Our dining room steward Hary was magnificent...night after night! In fact, we have received an email from him stating that he enjoyed serving us and hoped to see us again. Read Less

The ship was nice, the food and service were good, but we were very disappointed in the selection of activities on board. Most of the scheduled "activities" were only meant to generate SALES of one kind or another for the cruise line. It was either jewelry, watches, bingo cards, art auction, casino slot tournament ($$), fitness center massages/teeth whitening/expensive classes, or other "activities" that weren't really designed for the cruiser's enjoyment, but just to SELL to us once again. Sadly, we were a captive audience! By the 5th day of the 10-day cruise, we stopped having expectations that there would be any activities that were actually fun, intellectually stimulating, or not costing us more money. Only twice during the 10 days, there was an interesting lecture by Clive Mayhew. That was the only bright spot in the daytime lineup. For this reason, Celebrity was hugely disappointing this time, and it will be a long time before we circle back to Celebrity again. Read Less

Good itinerary , ship had good reviews. It was a bigger ship than I have been used to so I was a little put off by the size. The embarkation was reasonably good although more chaotic than I've been used to . The crew were for the most part friendly and helpful. Didn't get to really understand the select eating system . The food I cant truly say was more than average and whilst I like my vegetables cooked al dente , the broccoli was a tooth breaker! Carrots and broccoli every night was a bit much . Shows were a big disappointment in the theatre , 45 minutes duration only and no variety. The resident singers and bands were very good. The barmen in the Martini bar provided the best cabaret. Cafeteria was excellent, with a good choice of food . Good variety of bars and lounges to use but so dark at night, I personally like to see who I am talking to whilst appreciating mood lighting . Disembarkation was a little chaotic ,and then dropped off at Rome airport at the wrong entrance and told the wrong check in desk number . Read Less

My wife and I took the September 1 to 11, 2017 cruise. Once the ship docked at the different ports we had wonderful days. Each stop in Greece, Malta and Italy were fantastic. The cabin, we were on Deck 11 Starboard side, was very nice. Our cabin attendant was great. The cabin was kept spotless, we had plenty of towels in the bathroom. The only issue was, we had to request the bed sheets needed to be changed. The Celebrity Reflection turned out to be just another large ship. I guess I fell into the trap of all the hype Celebrity kept sending me. I was very disappointed in the carnival like atmosphere of the shopping area. Every time I walked by the shops, on my way to the theatre, employees would harass us to come into their shops. It was very cheap for them to do this. The entertainment on the ship was new every night, so after dinner it was nice to go to the 9 pm show. They lasted about 50 minutes. Have you ever been on a ship where the entertainers hawk their cd's? Almost every night the "talent" would say they have a table set up on the lower level lobby and you just swipe your room card and you can own their music cd or stop smoking cd or meditation cd, etc. I never expected this on Celebrity. The dining on the ship was fine, nothing memorable or special. The Opus dining room had a nice variety of selections but nothing special. One night we went to Murano, the $50 per person restaurant. I was expecting, for $100, a dining experience. What I received was anything but. I don't drink so the waiter didn't pay much attention to us. My water glass sat empty for 8 minutes. I finally got up, took the pitcher of water, and refilled my glass. Then the waiter started to pay attention. I ordered a fish dish, and I didn't like the sauce, so I asked for the sauce to be left off. The waiter did not offer any other sauce. What I received was a burnt piece of fish. The skin side can be burnt but not the meat side. Anyway, it was a very poor meal, but it was the best Murano could do that night. A few nights later, I met a man who worked in guest relations. I asked him what he does? He said his department "fixes things". I told him of our experience at Murano. In very short order, I received a phone call from the Maitre D' of Murano. I met with him and the Head Chef. What was interesting was learning that ALL of the proteins on the ship arrive FROZEN. Nothing is fresh. So when I ordered that fish without the red bell pepper sauce, another sauce should have been offered. Our waiter must have had an off night. I appreciate the time that Krassimir Rizov and Ashly, the Head Chef, took with me. But it didn't make up for the poor service and meal. The ship on Level 14 has a 5/8 mile walking/running track. But it goes thru the smoking section, twice. Not thought out. The Cruise Director and his staff had plenty of activities for the 2 days "at sea". We could always find something to do. Would I take Celebrity again? I wanted to find a reason to book 2 more trips with Celebrity, the Panama Canal and Galapagos Islands. By the end of the cruise, with being harassed in the shopping area and the other items, I decided to try Princess for the Panama Canal and Metropolitan Touring on the M/V Santa Cruz II for the Galapagos. Embarkation and Disembarkation was great. We completed our paperwork online so when we arrived at the ship, it only took a few minutes to complete the process. The security staff was excellent. The shore staff was wonderful. At every port call, Celebrity had a tent set up and the staff had ice cold water waiting, along with cold towels to refresh your face. This was a very nice touch. First time on a cruise in the Med during school holiday and NEVER again. I have been with celebrity cruises about 8/10 times and this is the worse experience. I would never choose Refelection again. As soon as we arrived, we were addressed by our first name by the cabin attendant when he introduced himself to us and I found it uncomfortable as we didn't even know that person. The same again when you order anything and had to produce with your cabin card, the staff addressed you by your first name as printed on the card so everyone sitting round you know your name. We chose free dining as in the past we were put on different table every night and met some lovely people.this time it was awefull. It took the girl ages to locate a table moving her mouse up and down in front of the screen and not that they were full as we went pass so many empty tables before we were shown to the one at the very back facing the wall. We refused and were put to another table instead...... IMMEDIATELY. why could they do it the first place. Used to be a 5 course menu and now it is only 3. Service is definitely slipping there from my experience in the past. Don't get me wrong, these people worked very hard at the restaurant but I think celebrity has reduced the amount of staff at the restaurant. We were never put with other passengers the 11 days we were on the cruise ship and when I asked, I was told I have to be at the restaurant between 6.30/6.45. WHY???? They have loads of empty tables. On the last day, we were put on a table for 4 but removed 2 sets of cutlery as it was only the 2 of us????? There was tables for 2 all round us empty.....not happy with that. In October we sailed with celebrity equinox and it was top mark, the captain, the entertainment, the cruise director. But this reflection is nothing compared with equinox. Very disappointing. As there were so many children and infants on this cruise ship, our toilet and as many as well had trouble flashing getting the water through on 4 different days but it was sorted immediately. I was told because other passengers were putting nappies in the toilet to flush......the piece of wood in front of the sink fell off completely as I was getting a towel coming out from the shower and narrowly missed my feet. It was a heavy piece of wood. Sky lounge on reflection has reduced by half the size to accommodate more cabins so it you want to read a book or just chill out looking ahead of the sea, you can't as there are no loungers anymore, only tables and chairs. The 2 days at sea, we couldn't find any empty loungers round the pool whether it is on deck 12/14/15. So we have no choice but to sit on the chair rather than trying to have a nap. As we were a concierge passenger, we had a concierge service if we have any doubts with anything and Patro was brilliant, In the past we had little canapés sent to our room with our choice and a chosen time, this time, we have no choice for canapés and time and as it was mainly seafood, by the time we got to our room, they were warm...... no way we were going to touch the. To be fair we have enough food so if celebrity is looking for costs cutting, I don't think any passengers will miss this as there are food everywhere on the cruise ship... after the third day, I went to the concierge and asked him to stop this service as I can't stand wasting food, We don't think we will choose Reflection again as it was a big dissatisfaction. First time cruising with celebrity, after 3 previous cruises with royal Caribbean and po Expected to get a five star cruise and was disappointed, firstly we had problems with anytime dining, you weren't allowed to dine anytime. The first evening we were told our dining time was 9.30pm and couldn't be changed,we were told we couldn't book a table between 6.30-8.30pm as that was the busiest time.We did manage to book a table for 8.30pm every night but that was after a lot of complaining. Our table was changed nearly every night so we didn't get to know our waiters. The menu choice was very limited and not very exciting very repetitious .if you wanted a special meal you had to pay another 45dollars each to dine in the speciality restaurants. On sea days there weren't enough sun loungers for everyone and quite a few people just walked around for hours looking for one.The lawn club was a waste of space and you were charged extra to use the empty cabanas that were there. I don't drink but had a classic drink package ,thinking I'd be well catered for juices and non alcoholic cocktails. The menu has 30 alcohol cocktails on it but no non alcoholic cocktails and when asked for one the waiters just mixed soda. And a dash of fruit squash hardly a cocktail. One day I asked for a can of coke and was told I was not allowed a can it had to be poured into a glass and if the soda gun had been working I would have been given coke from it .the remains of the can of coke that didn't fill my glass were then left open and used for the next person asking for coke so sometimes you weren't even getting fresh coke but someone's leftovers. Was looking forward to trying international food but choice was awful no exciting puddings . Very very disappointed thinking I was going to get a very special cruise for my husbands and my 60th birthday.Royal Carribean and po were of a much higher standard and didn't make you feel like a second class citizen. we sat in the same seat in the theatre most nights and one night we were told we weren't allowed to sit there as it was roped of for suite class passengers. There was too much class distinction and not enough facilities for the rest of the passengers. The entertainment was performed in the middle of a busy thoroughfare and there was not enough seats to sit and watch it with people trying to get past the whole time Don't think I'd ever do another cruise with celebrity. One of the few ships that provided the ports-of-call we were seeking. It allowed our family to vacation together with a minimum of stress and we generally were satisfied with our choice. We were gone from the ship for most of the days we were in port, so on board activities were limited to the evenings, but not much of the offerings tempted us to go often or stay late. A point of disappointment to all of us was the lack of live music available for entertainment. It's probably my age or what passes for dance music today, they did have disc-jockey music all over the place. Is it because it's a less expensive approach, or is that what people want! I hope it's not going to be the new normal. As a whole, the servers were attentive and courteous and seemed to like their jobs. Dining with the eight of us never seemed to be a problem for the hostess, who was generally able to find a table for us, by the window or out of way of the dinner traffic moving in and out of the MDR. As for the food --- there was no problem changing something that was unacceptable, so that much can be said for it. Although not fans of buffets, several times we opted for the buffet at the Oceanview Café. It seemed that the food was a bit fresher, or maybe it was because the choices were easier to chose from. The burgers and dogs at the Mast Grill weren't too bad for a quick snack. As for the extraordinarily expensive "alternative restaurants", we'd had our miserable experiences with them in the past and consider the extra cost nothing but an extravagance for mediocre food or giving us some talking points about what we did aboard. We chose instead to have many excellent lunches and snacks in the many restaurants we visited, whether in Malta, Sicily, Greece and mainland Italy. Celebrity does a much better job than most others in their price bracket, so we'll probably sail with them again. Read Less

We had previously cruised with Norwegian and Princess and was looking for a step up in terms of service and food etc, I can safely say after 10 nights on board, the search is still ongoing. Embarkation- This was a breeze we arrived at the port of Rome around 11am and we was on board by 11.30am and eating our first meal in the Oceanview Buffet, they do tend to like you to go up to this area as the Cabins are not ready until 12.30pm , we had a quick bite to eat, food was good standard. in my opinion the buffet on Princess cruises was better in terms of taste of quality of ingredients. We had the Premium drinks package this was exceptionally good value. we didn't find one drink we could not have in the whole time onboard. Service- We felt that whilst attentive it was to the position where it felt a bit over the top, an example of this is when you are walking back to your stateroom and you happen to see your stateroom, attendant, they have to drop whatever they are doing and ensure they open the door for you, one occasion this happened 3 times in 30 minutes and it felt a little awkward, they also position staff in the bathrooms on board who have to make awkward small talk with guests, this seems quite again over the top. We also experienced a great variation in service between the waiters in the MDR, we was on select dining so each night had a different team serving us- only 2 nights we felt the service was acceptable Entertainment- During sea days if you didn't like to gamble or shop there was not much going on around the ship- Maarten (the CD) done his best but it was very quiet, except the day they had a 75% sale and the main walkway was a crush. This is not a ship for you if you like to be active during sea days as it was very quiet and quite dull. Evening shows were better, we saw the incredible We3 and a Motown and Soul act on 2 separate nights so we have to say this was one area where they did well. Dining- we signed up on board for the Speciality dining 4 night package as this felt like a good deal, we chose 2 nights in Tuscan Grille and 2 nights in QSINE. both of these were great and the food was easily worth the money, as stated above the MDR is hit and miss, menu is good with good choice. Some of the food wasn't great and you could tell they found it hard to cook steak, of 3 nights I ordered it, only once it was cooked to my liking. My partner is 27 and I am 30 so we are not the target age group for Celebrity and it truly did show, we found some of the passengers to be incredibly rude and pompous, Celebrity is not a cruise line for under 40's or people with families we only saw 4 children onboard- this is not a market they really tend to want on board. Would I cruise with them again, no not really and this is probably an agreement that works well for both sides. Read Less

Itinary was very good. History and archeology interesting in Greece, Turkey and Italy. Excursions to Delos and Ephesus excellent, with superb, knowledgable guides. Crete was disappointing as no organised tours to Knossos, we hired a car, but only had 1.5 hrs there. Ship could have docked for longer to allow visit to best sites. Ship itself was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The ambiance around the atrium was noisy, with loud non stop pop music day and night, more relaxing, quiet music would be moe appropriate. The cabin was a disappointment with 3 adults, as the sofa bed was a foam topper on the sofa. We have had proper pull out beds on other cruise ships. The food was average in the main dining room; it was uninspiring, with an additional daily set of dishes. The buffet offered a more extensive range of cuisine, but the carvery and vegetables were cold or luke warm at best. The classic drinks package was included and good, even if we were encouraged frequently to upgrade. The entertainment was good in the main theatre as was the singer and group performing around the ship. The female duo, playing the violin and cello were pretty bad. Ben Fogle was on board, and gave two excellent talks on his activities and adventures.. He also led one of the excursions to the volcano on Santorini, although we did not take part in this trip. We did not take part in any of the activities on board, so have no comment on these I probably would not sail with Celebrity again, unless the itinary was unmissable. We have sailed with Princess, P&O, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and Silver Seas in the past. Read Less

We have cruised with Celebrity since 2008 - 7 cruises - sadly the standards declining as the years go by. Middle management confirmed it is all about profit now. Reflection is still in good condition, but the staff are in fear of losing their jobs with near impossible targets. There are less staff - and the cabin stewards rely wholly on tips for their wage - no salary is paid to them. Our steward was excellent. Our travelling companions in Aqua Class not so lucky. A Queen size bed having only a single sheet on leaving mattress exposed top and bottom of the bed. It took complaints to customer service to get it rectified. They also had no shampoo, shower gel or any of the normal toiletries. We had to ask for cotton balls and buds and shower cap - they are not allowed to put these out unless passenger asks for them. Gone are few welcoming flowers in your cabin- only basics are standard now. Main dining menus are the same every night with only 2 items changed daily. It became a chore deciding what to eat at night. The Canteen (or self serve restaurant as they call it) carries the same morning and lunch menus all through the cruise: it used to change a little daily offering interest. The specialty restaurants exorbitantly priced. Ship was very clean - but very hard to find a seat in the evening or on a sea day. The same for getting a drink. The free drinks packages clearly affecting this service. Also failings in mixing drinks correctly: if a fresh strawberry was required to garnish a drink (and the bar seemed unable to get them) they put strawberry syrup in instead - totally revolting! No idea how to present a Pimms either. (neat in glass!) Chic night has replaced Formal: now a sad affair of mixed dress codes from Dinner Jacket and Cocktail dresses through casual to downright scruffy. Making your feel overdressed and uncomfortable. For the first time we took no excursions: as we had company we decided to be brave and take taxi to the destinations we wanted to see. Drivers were good, not taking fare until you got back to the ship and picked you up after you had done your sight seeing when they said they would. Resulting in great tours, at one third of the price and not having to visit retail outlets you had no interest in! I recommend this to anyone travelling. Haggle haggle haggle! and do your research on taxi prices before you go- it gives you the edge. No complaints about the entertainment, both the ships entertainers (shows good but completely confusing!) and the visiting acts were well worth watching. Officers are no longer visible around the ship - and if you spot one - dont even contemplate shaking hands you germ carrying creature! Better than the cruise we took on Equinox earlier this year: ship not scruffy - but the fact we had friends with us made the cruise great fun - despite the drop in the Luxury to now just Standard - quite possibly the last cruise with Celebrity as we enjoy the formal nights. Stand by Cunard, we are booked with you next year ! (thats if you allow us on board :0) ) Read Less

We are not regular/keen cruisers and tend to cruise maybe once every 4 years to places that interest us. This cruise fullfilled that requirement but 10 nights was long enough. As usual however ship was full of bores who collected cruises, sometimes not getting off the ship because they had visited the ports many times before. Hated the area around the pools - which were hardly big enough to swim in. You really have no room to move and as always loads of bed blaggers. Food was good but it was getting repetitive by the end of the trip. Different food but tasted very similar. Hard to get a table for 2 without a wait and in event you were so close to each other you may as well have been at same table! Had the Classic Drinks package. Upgraded to Premium because the bars/restaurant made it far too difficult to understand what you could or could not get on Classic Drinks Package. Have to also mention that many of the bar staff, particularily round the pool were very rude and poor at keeping an eye on who was next to be served. Cabin was excellent and attendant great. Entertainment was dreadfull, particulary the Freddie Mercury impersonator. A very poor pastiche and quite condesending to the gay community. Stupid dress code for the 'formal' evenings. Either have one or dont one. Some people made the effort while others thought a pair of ripped jeans and a t-shirt were appropriate. Most staff were very nice and helpfull but as said some bar staff were rude and condescending. Best stop was Ephesus. Sad to see that most of the US ships have now decided to skip Turkey. Read Less

Unhappy with the drinks package that came with our cruise (Classic), there was no option to buy a drink above the price limit imposed per drink without paying full price for it. However if you have a Premium drinks package then you can pay the difference - bizarre! Had chosen Select Dining, turned out to be a fiasco which sent us to Guest Relations to have this removed because despite having a table reserved for a certain time we still encountered a queue each time we went to dinner. As mentioned by other travelers the entertainment was somewhat lacking, out of 10 nights the theatre produced a singing act 8 times! Other entertainment apart from the band was rather disappointing, the highlight of the evenings appeared to be finding ways to part you from your money via various offers in the minimal shops on board. The shows in Celebrity Central were very entertaining, there should be more of these. We did enjoy the silent discos and enjoyed dancing to DJ Aria. Lots of photo opportunities as we arrived at different ports but found the price of the pictures to be vastly inflated $15-25 per photo! The general staff on board were fabulous and the food was exceptional in Ocean View and Opus, don't know why Celebrity push the 'specialist' restaurants (and they were being pushed quite hard on this cruise). For us being British the biggest bugbear of our holiday was the 18% gratuity that racked up every day on your stateroom, by the end of our cruise we had accrued a bill of $270! To us service is something that should be rewarded as a result of a good experience. Maybe Celebrity should consider including gratuities in the price of a cruise so that deserving staff can make their own tips based on their hard work and customer service.and yet still be paid a basic wage. For us personally Celebrity will not be our choice of cruise company in the future. Read Less

We sailed with celebrity last year and really enjoyed the experience so thought we'd try again this year. Overall we had an enjoyable holiday with hassle-free travel arrangements, good sized clean balcony room, good ports of call, friendly staff, very clean public areas, plenty of space despite the number of passengers except on sea days when the pool areas get overcrowded, good service, good entertainment, good fee paying dining options. It is a really nice modern ship. So why the 3 stars? Unfortunately we had a number of issues that Celebrity need to address if it's to attract us as future customers. Firstly and far the biggest gripe was the main dining room: the booking process was a shambles, the counter staff weren't that helpful, the food was just ok, the sommeliers were (in a few instances) next to useless - we witnessed tensions between the sommeliers and the waiting staff because the sommeliers weren't doing their jobs effectively. In fact we felt obliged to pay for the other dining options to avoid the main dining room - this is simply unacceptable. The restaurant options were very good but add $90 to the bill for two. Next, Celebrity have created total confusion with the chic concept - dress code ranged from black tie to casual. It needs to be one or the other, not both. This should be easily resolved. Thirdly, our celebrity excursion to Ephesus was really good but it included a couple of unnecessary and very touristy visits - a 6 minute gladiator show at an overpriced tourist complex and a visit to a rug vendor who spent far too long describing how he'd rescued young girls, educated them and paid them with EU grants so that his customers could benefit from the savings. He actually seemed to think he'd done us all a favour! This should also be easily remedied. Celebrity is supposed to provide a 5 star experience. However our experience of the main dining room means we won't be back. Celebrity needs to consider whether to remain 5 star or downgrade in line with our experience. Read Less

We chose this Celebrity cruise based first and foremost on the ports of call which really appealed. Secondly our friends who joined us on this cruise had previously enjoyed an RCCL cruise and as Celebrity is part of the RCCL Family we thought why not. Our own previous cruise experience was with NCL which we really enjoyed. On the whole we enjoyed it but I wouldn't cruise with Celebrity again - why? Too much up-selling; it starts at breakfast with 'discounts' for the specialty restaurants, continues around the pool with over-enthusiatic crew members plugging the 'premium' drinks package. They must make a small fortune on bingo with the cheapest card(s) costing from $39 up to $69 - the payouts to the few lucky winners were modest given the 'full house' in the auditorium. Too many shops for my liking but that is purely a personal opinion. What is great: the people who work on board - first class! The quality of the ship (I'm slightly biased because I know the German ship builders well) and a really good gym and spa - oh and the food which was consistently high quality What is good: Opus - the main dining room, our cabin on Deck 8 and unexpectedly the Silent Disco What is average: the evening entertainment (compared to my limited past experience) Cruise Director Sue and her team work their socks off but they have a budget to adhere to I guess. Celebrity is billed as a notch above RCCL but the special guests are tributes or x factor finalists from a few years back - which is fine but... What is poor: the confusing drinks system and the extortionate cost of excursions - arrange your own for 75% less we did and they were great Read Less

Celebrity Cruises 11 Night Celebrity Cruises 11 Night Greece & Italy Cruise sailing on 07/18/2016., Below is a summary of our recent voyage with some specifics to follow. We hope you find it helpful. Summary: We booked two adjacent cabins for this 11 night cruise and stayed an additional 3 nights in Rome for two adults and two children. The Celebrity Refection is a miracle at sea, but one of many and not exceptional in this experience. The service was spotty and the vessel visibly worn in areas. The formal and informal dining was average to below average and overall disappointing in our opinion. Access to coffee and tea was very good and appreciated. The itinerary and ports visited were excellent in most cases. One full day tour guide was unintelligible and we would have been better off on our own. Embarkation & disembarking was fast and efficient at each of the ports. Excellent access to hand disinfectant and most of the crew were dedicated and worked hard. One of our first and worse (and lasting) onboard experiences was with Jason at the main restaurant when we requested information concerning the ‘anytime dining option’. We had the early seating (18.15) and were seeking additional information on the anytime dining. He appeared bored and disinterested and I was offended on how he interacted with my soft spoken wife who was gently, politely and respectfully requesting information. His answers were vague and he was entirely unhelpful. We decided to keep our dinner time instead of dealing with this highly offensive passive- aggressive Celebrity representative. Clearly he despises his customers, hates his job or both. My wife and I both agree that Jason is hurting more than he is helping his employer. The other guests in the queue gave us empathic looks of surprise and disappointment with Jason’s attitude. Rafael at the Excursions Desk was not as overtly rude, but equally unhelpful concerning excursions. Our adjacent Veranda cabins were adequate, but somewhat dirty when we arrived. They have a connecting inside door to next (our children’s cabin) and the veranda partition can be opened for a double open deck space. There were refrigerators in each room fully stocked with goodies at minibar sky-high prices (which we sampled anyway). We requested that our cabin steward remove some items for a few bottle of water brought on board and he happily complied. Bedding is satisfactory. Two twin beds were configured into a queen for us with the children having their own twin bed in the other cabin adjacent and adjoining cabin. There was also a pullout bed associated with the couch that we did not use. A flat screen television gave the room an updated feel which was countered by the cheap looking and worn and faded sofa. Upon reflection, we canceled our future bookings on Celebrity when we returned home. The following are our objective ratings for the various components of the vacation. 1-Transport to & from FCO to port. We used Bob’s Taxi for $100 €. Less on the return. They were simply fantastic. Easy, efficient and helpful. They met us at the airport as soon as we cleared customs. What a great way to start! 2-Embarkation. Access to vessel was quick and efficient. There was some confusion in which queue we would go to and we were immediately placed in the longer general boarding queue. When I gently protested, we were quickly repositioned in the Captain’s Club queue and were processed in 10 minutes or less. This was fantastic. We were on board before you knew it after the obligatory silly picture taking (smile everyone!). Nice job overall 3-Cabins. They have adequate space and we loved that they connected with a door and veranda. The cabin was a bit dirty (a hair comb left under the desk, an off brand shampoo left in the shower, the cabin safe was locked when we arrived and had to be unlocked by a supervisor for us to use, dirt/dust in corners….). We did not like the material of the couch (red fabric that appeared cheap and worn). My wife and daughter detested the quality of the Celebrity provided shampoo and conditioner mandating an emergency purchase at our first port-of-call. We could not hear any of the announcements in the cabin or while on the veranda. The only options were to miss the message or transition to the hallway to try and hear whatever remained of the message. When I asked the cabin attendant for guidance, I received an unintelligible answer with no follow-up. The flat screen TV could be rotated away from the wall for better viewing and worked well. The veranda furniture was nice, comfortable and sturdy. We awoke one night with the partition between our and the neighbors veranda banging loudly. It had come loose somehow and was repositioned and anchored in about 2 hours. During the safety briefing, several in our staging area were so loud I could not hear the presentation. 4-Food. This was a sad disappointment. The meals in the informal (Oceanview Deck 14, I think) and formal dining area (Deck 4) were solidly disappointing. Emphasis appears to be on appearance and not taste or quality with no exception. This includes the deserts that looked good but with no flavor. Of the four of us nobody loved the main evening meals with a couple of exceptions. Think TGI Fridays, Outback Steakhouse and Cracker Barrel and you get the picture. At times those standards were not met. There seemed to be a focus on presentation, quantity but with little attention to quality. The good side is that if you have a passion for food, it is hard to over-eat due on the Celebrity Refection. You simply would not want to do so. So why did we not use the specialty restaurants? Our reasoning was that the planners, buyers and preparers were all the same so why chance it and be disappointed? Plus the Trip-Advisor comments were not entirely positive concerning the specialty restaurants. When we were off the ship, we dinned onshore. We noted that the waiters and assistant waiters were attentive and tried their best. The problem was not the service but the product. One additional comment concerning the food service. As soon as you are on the vessel you are hounded for the additional paid al-la-cart services. This included the specialty restaurants and beverage packages. It reminded me of shopping bazaar where the merchants chase after you until they wear you done and you either yell at them or make a purchased. When I asked our waiter why he continued to pitch us when we politely but firmly declined he indicated that he was mandated to do so by his superiors. This added an unnecessary atmosphere of unpleasantness. So much for the upscale persona of the Celebrity brand. 5- Personnel Hygiene/Health. Great job in prevention of hand-borne illness such as norovirus. Purell dispensers are at key locations and crewmembers walk around with portable units. 6-Pools/Grass areas-Another big disappointment. Always overcrowded. It reminded me of a public pool in Brooklyn during the summer. Way, way overcrowded. So crowded we could not and would try it if only for the hygiene concerns. Concerning the half acre of real grass on Deck 15 called The Lawn Club, the grass areas are a very highly hyped, but had absolutely no appeal to us. 7-Fitness center-Problems here. Equipment maintenance should be revisited. At least one elliptical and 2 of the stationary bikes were not fully functional for the entire voyage. The water coolers in the exercise room were often empty. I liked the cold rolled washcloths that were available. The area was large and reasonably equipped, if everything worked as it should. 8-On our return to the ship, we were met with-cold towels & ice cold water and a kind word from the staff. Nice touch. 9-Security was good with your photo ID (your key card) necessary to re-board the ship. Cameras are everywhere. No compliant from us. 10-The excursions were good overall with one exception. Our guide in Sicily could not speak English adequately so we did not learn anything and was disappointed. The guides in Rhodes & Pompeii were great. 11-Entertainment. The various bands and classical venues at various locations and nooks were very enjoyable. Upbeat and fun. The musician’s passion was heard in their music and performances which added to our enjoyment. The Reflection Theater was comfortable and the performers worked very hard. We did not enjoy the mainline show, Elysium. The story was lost with no continuity from one scene to the other. The message is that nice costumes cannot carry the show. Go to the casino or watch a movie instead. The performance by the cruise director was horrid (and we are being kind), although we admired her spirit. The evening shows featuring the pianist, violinist and magician are worth your while. 12-I asked a couple of officers if the ship they was certified to ISO 14001 (an international standard that drives environmental sustainability). The safety officer did not know. Another officer promised to get back to me by leaving a message on my voice mail but never did, so I guess that they are not. On a past cruise we learned that Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines is certified to the international standard and feel Celebrity should also be. I don’t trust anyone who declares they are sustainable (or anything else for that matter) without transparency or verification. Who would these days? 13-Internet was very expensive. We tried it and it was too slow & not worth it. It was less expensive to use our Sprint service (believe it or not). You need to contact your carrier for the proper plan. Sprint’s international plan was no-charge. It was slow, but serviceable. Read Less

This was our first cruise. We were encouraged by Cruise experts to pay the extra amount and get a better experience on Celebrity Cruises. I have to say the ship (Reflection) was immaculate. Modern, well designed, comfortable and were pleasantly surprised with the size of the suite and storage space. It is extremely well organised and efficient from check-in to check-out and all the way through. We were most disappointed in the food served on board. It was quantity and variety but no quality in the Oceanview Cafe, Opus dining room and poolside grill. So we thought the dedicated restaurants would be better but were again very disappointed. We ate mostly at Luminae because of the excellent service and friendly staff but not for the food. We also ate at the speciality restaurants. The Tuscan Grill had a beautiful view but the food disappointing. Murano was the best of the lot with expensive ingredients and good presentation but in terms of the preparation and flavour did not meet the hype. We had delicious Greek & Turkish food on shore during port calls so why can that not be achieved on board? Why does everything have to sourced from the port of origin (or maybe even earlier!) and then frozen? We were sick of eating the same old watermelon and cantaloupe for 11 days when on shore you could get delicious peaches, nectarines and cherries. So we bought some which was promptly confiscated on boarding. The 'chefs' making pasta and pizzas look bored and uninspired which reflects in the dishes they hand out. We met with some head chefs but were equally uninspired. There are surely restrictions on what can be done on a cruise ship but a little innovation and a fresh set of chefs may just make that difference. In summary, I feel Celebrity Cruises do an excellent job on their flagship Reflection but need to improve drastically on its chefs if it wants to capture customers like us for whom the dining experience is very important. Not really the culinary experience I was lead to believe it would be, and we expected, having cruised with other cruise lines before. The service was certainly not 5 star, more like 3 star. Lovely clean ship. Friendly staff. Just more training required with a focus on service and the art of fine dining. At times it felt like a beach seller competition in the dining rooms, with each coffee/tea waiter, shouting across the room "more coffee, tea?". Lobster was overcooked and tough, and everyone I spoke to who also had the lobster, agreed. Dining rooms could do with a little more imagination, regarding table layout and waiter traffic. No "themed evenings". It may have been a good idea, given the itinerary, Italy, Greece and Turkey, to theme the evening with culinary dishes to compliment the area. Pasta = Italy, Dolmades/Musaka =Greece etc. Entertainment was pretty average. No real dance floor area, just the atrium which was not ideal. Outside of fixed dining, the entertainment was non existent Read Less

I will not go on and on. Service in main dining room was to celebrities high standard as was the cabin attendent. Service on the rest of the ship was iffy. If the captain and his officers worked on service rather than trying to sell you something all the time ( including the captains daily briefing). Classic drinks package when we have previously sailed on celebrity a full list of the drinks has been available not on the reflection. But they would sell you the upgrade to the premium package, on investigation and a lot of questions to the bar staff we found we didn't require, most branded spirits which according to the leaflet were over $8 were included on the classic package eg drambue, baileys, absolute vodka and Bombay sapphire gin. We have cruised on over 30 occasions and the production shows were not the best in fact MAXX was by far the worst show we had endured on a cruise boat. Getting home we travelled with my 85 year old father at Rome airport we were not happy to be told that my father had a seat on the plane but myself and my wife were on standby. We then endured a two hour wait before we were told we were also on the flight ( Alitalia booked through celebrity). I have only written this review as we were prompted to do so by celebrity although we have sent a complaint in. Also we were requested to take part in a further survey which when I answered one of the first questions which allowed me to decline our annual income shut its self.p Read Less

Room ~ Cabin 9167 was very good with a lovely bathroom and shower. Spacious, enough hangers and overhead cupboards for a comfortable 11 night cruise. Our room steward was attentive and eager to please. Food ~ The main dining room food was ok but the Oceanview Cafe buffet was really poor. Everything tasted the same and we really didn`t enjoy any of the evening offerings in there. Usual fight at breakfast and an awful lot of people ignoring the sanitiser stations and using their hands to pick food up ~ whilst being watched by staff and not stopped. We dined at all the Speciality Restaurants and found Sushi on Five distinctly average, QSine completely over hyped ~ unexpected food served in a creative way apparently. If you can call a glass with a flashing led light cube and a prawn cocktail on top "disco shrimp" then I guess that shows the level of "creativity". Muranos was very good and Tuscan Grill and Lawn Club were superb. Mast Grill served good burgers and hot dogs up until 6pm. The food was one of the 3 main things that we were disappointed with, and it was only 3 of the Speciality Restaurants that we felt truly served 5 star food. Drinks ~ We upgraded to the premium package and not being a drinks connoisseur, I asked for a cocktail menu so I could decide what I`d like as I heard others asking for some fabulous drinks. However, it was almost impossible to get a drinks menu of any kind and we met many frustrated customers who had no idea what they could have under the package they were on. We also saw staff being exceptionally rude to those on the classic package and not remotely trying to help them decide what they could have to their budget. This was another part of the offering we found really poor. It would not be difficult to make a list of cocktails available at ALL bars, not just the speciality bars. Apart from that the upgrade to the premium package wasn`t worth it for us on the overall cruise but as an upgrade to a free package it was worth the worry taking out of it. Service ~ Service across the ship was mixed. Staff at the Mast Bar were particularly rude and condescending as were staff in the Sky Lounge. In contrast staff at the Martini Bar and The World Class Bar were excellent. We did not feel that the staff were representative of a 5 star service and found the Cruise Director particularly cheesy and more Butlinsesque than 5 star. He didn`t need to finish every announcement with "And one more thing.....I love you".....This annoyed the living daylights out of me every day! We also saw staff taking the mickey out of guests behind their backs in full view of other customers and I found this particularly offensive. As mentioned before though, our room steward made up for it....he was so hard working and polite. Definitely a positive on the overall experience. As were a couple of the staff in the Speciality Restaurants. Particularly Allan and Olympiou at Lawn Club and Tuscan Grill respectively. Entertainment ~ Poor. Shows were below average and little else to do. Live music was played every day in various bars but due to the open plan nature of the ship you couldn`t escape it if it wasn`t your cup of tea. We found ourselves up in the Sky Lounge a lot as it was the only place we could go to get away from the clashing music. You could sit in the World Class Bar listening to modern chilled dance music that would be clashing with the house band 2 floors below playing country and western or trying to listen to music in Crush but battling against the live DJ. Bars ~ All but the Sky Lounge ruined for us by the volume of music across different floors being unavoidable. This is obviously just our taste so lots of people loved it, but I like a space where I can sit and listen to music whilst chatting, and for that music to be my choice. Ensemble Lounge was a quieter bar on route to the Speciality Restaurants but we found that this was more suited to the older clientele who could listen to acoustic vocalists or string duos.Much more classical. We would have loved the World Class Bar if we couldn`t hear the music from the Grand Foyer and instead heard the music they were trying to play in our bar. Sundecks ~ the usual early rush to secure sunbeds which we don`t subscribe to, but we always found beds free up on Solstice deck and met some really nice people up there as well. Was definitely our favourite part of the ship for relaxing. There was no waiter service up there whilst we were on board but its only a deck down to the Mast Bar. Shore excursions ~ We didn`t take any Ship excursions as we rganised everything independently. Itinerary ~ Superb. Loved all ports and the one tender we undertook ran smoothly and efficiently. Public Toilets were also super clean at all times and the staff that cleaned the toilets were professional, courteous and lovely. Embarkation and Disembarkation ~ Excellent and Flawless. Overall I would not rate this as the 5 star experience everyone told us to expect and maybe that is why we were slightly underwhelmed. However, all the above being said, you can`t get away from the fact that the Ship itself is beautiful and a lot of people were having a fantastic trip on her and enjoying al the parts that we didn`t. Equally we met many other customers who were not as happy with the experience mostly because of the volume control of the live music and he inability to get away from it. But I`m sure if you asked those dancing along on every floor whether they enjoyed it, then it would be resounding success. We have chalked it up to one of those " not for us" moments. But it wouldn`t do for us all to be the same. Read Less
