First time on a cruise in the Med during school holiday and NEVER again. I have been with celebrity cruises about 8/10 times and this is the worse experience. I would never choose Refelection again. As soon as we arrived, we were addressed by our first name by the cabin attendant when he introduced himself to us and I found it uncomfortable as we didn't even know that person. The same again when you order anything and had to produce with your cabin card, the staff addressed you by your first name as printed on the card so everyone sitting round you know your name. We chose free dining as in the past we were put on different table every night and met some lovely people.this time it was awefull. It took the girl ages to locate a table moving her mouse up and down in front of the screen and not that they were full as we went pass so many empty tables before we were shown to the one at the very back facing the wall. We refused and were put to another table instead...... IMMEDIATELY. why could they do it the first place. Used to be a 5 course menu and now it is only 3. Service is definitely slipping there from my experience in the past. Don't get me wrong, these people worked very hard at the restaurant but I think celebrity has reduced the amount of staff at the restaurant. We were never put with other passengers the 11 days we were on the cruise ship and when I asked, I was told I have to be at the restaurant between 6.30/6.45. WHY???? They have loads of empty tables. On the last day, we were put on a table for 4 but removed 2 sets of cutlery as it was only the 2 of us????? There was tables for 2 all round us empty.....not happy with that. In October we sailed with celebrity equinox and it was top mark, the captain, the entertainment, the cruise director. But this reflection is nothing compared with equinox. Very disappointing. As there were so many children and infants on this cruise ship, our toilet and as many as well had trouble flashing getting the water through on 4 different days but it was sorted immediately. I was told because other passengers were putting nappies in the toilet to flush......the piece of wood in front of the sink fell off completely as I was getting a towel coming out from the shower and narrowly missed my feet. It was a heavy piece of wood. Sky lounge on reflection has reduced by half the size to accommodate more cabins so it you want to read a book or just chill out looking ahead of the sea, you can't as there are no loungers anymore, only tables and chairs. The 2 days at sea, we couldn't find any empty loungers round the pool whether it is on deck 12/14/15. So we have no choice but to sit on the chair rather than trying to have a nap. As we were a concierge passenger, we had a concierge service if we have any doubts with anything and Patro was brilliant, In the past we had little canapés sent to our room with our choice and a chosen time, this time, we have no choice for canapés and time and as it was mainly seafood, by the time we got to our room, they were warm...... no way we were going to touch the. To be fair we have enough food so if celebrity is looking for costs cutting, I don't think any passengers will miss this as there are food everywhere on the cruise ship... after the third day, I went to the concierge and asked him to stop this service as I can't stand wasting food, We don't think we will choose Reflection again as it was a big dissatisfaction. As experienced cruisers with Princess and then Celebrity Constellation (x2) and Silhouette (x2), we've been to the Med so often ---but we're from the UK, so it's not that far ! Our flight from Heathrow was straightforward and the transfer at Civitavecchia went well. Avoiding the photographers, we embarked and had expected to be met then escorted to Michael's Club ---but nobody was there for us and so we made our own way. Once there, our concierges greeted us and we offered drinks but we chose to lunch at Luminae instead. This suite-only restauant was everybit as welcoming as those on Connie and Silhouette. The maitre-d and his assistant were fabulous throughout the cruise. We also met a waiter, Shiv, from two previous cruises and Ivan from one prior cruise. The Celebrity family! Sadly, having collected our hand luggage from Michael's Club, we had to find our own way to our Signaturre suite on Deck 14. Entertainment: We certainly enjoyed Gordon Daniels, a guitarist, vocalist and harmonica player----seriously talented. The Ensemble lounge was a perfect venue for him. It was a shame that he had so few in the audience in Michael's Club. Then there was the fabulous Elan duo who performed light classical music plus other music (e.g. 'Game of Thrones' theme! and my request, 'Dos Gardenas') in the Ensemble lounge, Michael's Club and other venues. Amazing Lara and Berthe from Spain! Ravel's 'Bolero' was outstanding! I have never heard the 'voices' come through so well. A 'cellist and violonist of incredible talent! Our final fave entertainers were the duo Rick and Zoe ----it was their last contract with Celebrity; they are now on The World! Wow! Great to dance to... first night and I was up dancing in the Ensemble lounge. Their 'Rainy Night in Georgia' was as good if not better than the original. My favourite evening was when we heard Gordan playing with the Elan Duo and also danced to Rick & Zoe at another time. Thank you! Dining: We enjoyed Luminae every evening except for two, when we ate in Murano. Excellent service and food in both! On port days, we ate in the Oceanview Cafe at lunchtime because the other restaurants are closed. There was a good selection of food and the staff were really helpful. Sea Days: There were about 500 children on board --- but they were rarely seen. I guess that they were enjoying the kids' areas! Of course, the pool deck was fairly crowded. We're not sun worshiping people so we didn't mind. The shops: busy but rarely seemed to be heaving! The Future Cruise office: busy on sea days ---so we went on a port day. There are bargains to be had! Guest Relations: some queuing at times and so we used our butler and concierges for assistance. General Emergency Drill: Entertaining James Bond style The gym: not too busy, even on sea days EXCURSIONS: Sicily: We made an error signing up for the Tindari cliff-top village ship's tour. The village was far too commercial and the church, whilst impressive, was just too modern. We walked up to the Roman ruins (we've seen so, so, so many over the years!) but the guide often repeated himself and we left the group to it, preferring to enjoy a beer and ice-cream at 'Agora' on the way back down to the village. The view down to the sea is wonderful. Crete: the ship's three village tour was interesting. Mykonos: We enjoyed the ship's tour of the neighbouring island of Demos. Lots of ruins and history. An fascinating museum too! The boat over sells water, other drinks, icecream etc. I would do this excursion again ---although I would hope that it would be cooler! Afterwards, we wandered around Mykonos for about an hour before catching the tender back to the ship. Rhodes: Just wandered into the town, did some shopping and enjoyed some food on a roof-top restaurant. Santorini, Athens and Naples: we stayed on the ship and enjoyed a tranquil time. If we hadn't been to these ports a number of times before we would certainly have toured. Why only 3* for our excursions rating? A lack of alternatives for Santorini ---a coastal boat tour or a visit to a nearby island would have tempted us... the poor experience in Sicilly... More thinking outside the box, Celebrity! This was our second Celebrity cruise of 8 cruises in total, and although they are on a par with Princess and P&O, there are definitely some strengths and weaknesses. The public areas were all very clean, modern and spacious, but the sunbed availability on sea days was not very good at all and I think that the layout of the ship didn't help this. I would agree with a previous reviewer that too much space is given over to the lawn club. The food was generally excellent and the waiters very attentive. Entertainment was good, although not the best we've seen - the evening shows were mostly fairly low key events - we felt that the dancers and some musicians were under utilised and rarely got opportunities to show their talents. We had the classic drinks package which was excellent, although the drink choice available was sometimes a little confusing - for example at the aqua bar 9 dollar juices were included but six dollar smoothies were not. The gym was very well equipped and spacious. The ports of call were all very enjoyable, but unlike on previous cruises little or no information about the ports of call was available on the ship - no maps, guides, or even basic details were available to people who wanted to tour independently. Overall though a hugely enjoyable cruise. Read Less

First time cruising with celebrity, after 3 previous cruises with royal Caribbean and po Expected to get a five star cruise and was disappointed, firstly we had problems with anytime dining, you weren't allowed to dine anytime. The first evening we were told our dining time was 9.30pm and couldn't be changed,we were told we couldn't book a table between 6.30-8.30pm as that was the busiest time.We did manage to book a table for 8.30pm every night but that was after a lot of complaining. Our table was changed nearly every night so we didn't get to know our waiters. The menu choice was very limited and not very exciting very repetitious .if you wanted a special meal you had to pay another 45dollars each to dine in the speciality restaurants. On sea days there weren't enough sun loungers for everyone and quite a few people just walked around for hours looking for one.The lawn club was a waste of space and you were charged extra to use the empty cabanas that were there. I don't drink but had a classic drink package ,thinking I'd be well catered for juices and non alcoholic cocktails. The menu has 30 alcohol cocktails on it but no non alcoholic cocktails and when asked for one the waiters just mixed soda. And a dash of fruit squash hardly a cocktail. One day I asked for a can of coke and was told I was not allowed a can it had to be poured into a glass and if the soda gun had been working I would have been given coke from it .the remains of the can of coke that didn't fill my glass were then left open and used for the next person asking for coke so sometimes you weren't even getting fresh coke but someone's leftovers. Was looking forward to trying international food but choice was awful no exciting puddings . Very very disappointed thinking I was going to get a very special cruise for my husbands and my 60th birthday.Royal Carribean and po were of a much higher standard and didn't make you feel like a second class citizen. we sat in the same seat in the theatre most nights and one night we were told we weren't allowed to sit there as it was roped of for suite class passengers. There was too much class distinction and not enough facilities for the rest of the passengers. The entertainment was performed in the middle of a busy thoroughfare and there was not enough seats to sit and watch it with people trying to get past the whole time Don't think I'd ever do another cruise with celebrity. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on Celebrity Reflection. The ship is of a very high standard and was spotless. Our cabin was of a high standard (we loved the balcony also) and it was kept beautifully by our cabin steward who was friendly (without being over-friendly) and was the first member of staff we met on the ship and he gave us a warm welcome which continued throughout our cruise. The food in the Opus restaurant was of a very high standard (best lobster i have ever had) but what made dinner extra special was the service we received from our 2 dedicated waiters. They were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. They also would show my son a new trick each night which made his dining experience extra special and something to look forward for him. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff on the ship was really great and it wasn't until you were off at a port and get someone a bit grumpy or unhelpful that it made you appreciate even more the staff on the ship. My one small complaint was that on sea days there was a shortage of sun bed and seating on the deck. I felt there were areas of the ship where more sunbeds and seats could have been placed on the sea days (such as up beside the basketball court on deck 15). It didn't spoil it though as after a couple of days of sussing out the ship you knew where you could go away from the main areas to find a quiet spot but these were less quiet on the sea days. Other highlights were the Sunset bar on deck 15. A nice bar to go to after dinner out in the open air. The Martini Bar on deck 5 was great for pre-dinner drinks and the barmen can do amazing tricks with cocktails. The pools got very busy at times so were best enjoyed when the ship was in port and people were off the ship. We were on a special family holiday ranging in age from 10 to 78 years old and this ship really catered for everyone. My children enjoyed the kids clubs and met lots of friends whilst also enjoying the family areas as well. We enjoyed having our breakfast and lunch on the outside deck of the Ocean cafe as the inside seating could get very busy at times, but the food options and quality were of a very high standard at all times. I tended to have a later lunch when it was officially afternoon tea time in the Ocean view but there were still lovely salads and breads, cheeses and plenty of lunch options available at this time. Loved this ship and all that it had to offer. We travelled with 3 other couples to celebrate a milestone birthday of one of our group. Celebrity made it so special, each and every day! They even feted others who had recently celebrated, or were about to celebrate a birthday, which was very thoughtful! Guest Services were never with huge lineups (given how large the ship was) and we loved the small quiet cafe spots on Deck 5. The Martini Bar on Deck 4 was a big hit. As with other cruises I have taken, I find that the Shore Excursion staff are not friendly or helpful and on this cruise, it was no exception; they were particularly unfriendly. It discouraged me from planning more than 1 excursion booked onboard. (I had one previously booked through the website). Excellent and friendly staff work in the bars, attend to the rooms, though our concierge did little to enhance the experience, I admit. She left messages through the week on our phone, but was rarely there to assist. I don't really find the service useful, but I do enjoy the other features of the Concierge class of rooms. This was a port-rich itinerary and we loved each and every port we stopped in. One did not need to necessarily book an excursion to enjoy each stop. It was our first Italy/Greece itinerary and I would happily repeat this itinerary! I love the service that Celebrity provides its passengers once they return back to the ship with cool towels, water, and a surprise fruit/gelato treat on our last stop on the cruise. Nice, classy touches that I have come to love in Celebrity! Read Less

This was our 1st cruise taken as a treat to ourselves for our 25th wedding anniversary. We fancied the itinerary (Rome to Rome with some Italy and Greece in between) and wanted a cruise which wouldn't be filled with kids running riot since this was our 1st real holiday without ours. We are late 40's and had always been a bit sceptical about cruising thinking it was for oldies. However, there is a mixed range of ages on the ship and a mixed range of entertainment but to our surprise most of the entertainment was perfect for us. Getting on (embarking I think they call it) was a breeze. We arrived at port early (11:00) and our suitcases were whisked away and before we knew it we were sitting in the Oceanview cafe, beer in hand, 10 minutes later - no queuing whatsoever, amazing. We did have a few waiters asking if we'd like to upgrade our drink package or book special restaurants on the 1st day but we politely declined and they left us alone. No hassle really. We explored the ship a bit and by 1:30 our rooms were ready. Cases were also delivered quickly by about 3:00 I think. Being our 1st cruise we worried about movement of the ship and seasickness. On Day 1 we didn't even realise we had left port it was so stable. In fact the entire cruise we virtually felt nothing, it was great. Our room (cabin) was excellent. We were Aquaclass so got the welcome sparkling wine which was good and we enjoyed it one day on the spacious veranda. We also got canapes every afternoon and flavoured cold tea (not sure we would miss them if we didn't have them). The room was very spacious as far as we were concerned. Wardrobes and drawers were ample and we had a lot of stuff. The cases all fit under the bed. Bathroom is ample and shower was very good too. Room attendant Marites was very nice. The muster drill thingy was a bit of a joke we thought - virtually no-one watched the James Bond style video, many talked through the whole thing meaning even if you did want to watch it was very difficult. Celebrity need to do something about that in my opinion. FOOD & DRINK Being in the Aquaclass we had Blu as our assigned restaurant. Before the cruise I had said we would book special restaurants for a couple of nights thinking eating in the same place each night would get tedious. How wrong was I. We ate breakfast and dinner in Blu every day (apart from 2 when we had a room service brekkie). The food was amazing, no need for special restaurants. Our waiters were fantastic as well. They continually brought me as much food as I desired, some days I had 2 starters, 2 mains and a double pudding. We cannot fault a single thing about the Blu restaurant. Special mention to Rolando and Rene although everyone was fantastic really. Another favourite spot was the Cafe al Bacio. On the classic drink package all coffees and teas were included as well as the most excellent selection of cakes. For a quick bite the Mast Grill is nice. McDonalds style burgers and nice hot dogs. I always went back for seconds. We're not really buffet lovers but when we did go to the Oceanview a couple of times and the selection is vast and is very good too. The spa cafe was also nice but we only went here once. We did a galley tour and were surprised to find out that all breads are cooked from scratch on board. This made for some very fresh breads and pastries. Kitchens look so clean and well organised. Our favourite bar was the Sunset. The lawn is a nice touch and was well utilised for french boules. We also liked the Ensemble for a drink before dinner and the Passport later in the evening after the show. We were always served quickly whatever bar we were in (which was all of them). We had the classic package and we do like a drink and this was fine for us. ENTERTAINMENT The shows were generally good, I'm not a theatre person but my wife is. We walked out of 2 shows (the illusionist and a singer) but everything else was great - the Beatles tribute, Phil Collins tribute and Ukelele band were the stand outs. The waitress in the theatre got to know us and our routine and soon we turned up at the theatre and sh had reserved our usual seats and sat our usual drinks there, great service. There always seemed to be something going on. There were 2 bands who normally played either the foyer or around the pool. There were singers and DJ's, violinists and duets in the Ensemble or the Sky lounge. The bingo was a bit rubbish - too slow, expensive and full of annoying people from a particular country who seem to think the cruise revolves around them. Same goes for the quizzes - teams of up to 10 people from that same country (not saying where but somewhere between South America and Canada) acting as if they owned the cruise line. Didn't spoil anything for us to be honest but this same race did also think the lifts were reserved for them too. Maybe it was just a minority but thought I'd mention it. The Silent Disco was great. So many people having fun. Take your headphones off every so often and listen to the ambient noise, it's so funny. Karaoke was good but quite poorly attended. We were invited to the helipad for sail away from Santorini. Not sure if everyone gets this perk but were thought it was a nice touch and enjoyed it very much. There was also a lot going on in the foyer which isn't actually a big enough space for some of the things that happen there. Plus it's across from Guest Relations so god knows how the staff there can hear when clients visit them. Not sure that the Gym falls under "Entertainment" but it was well equipped, easy to get on a machine and all in good working order. The Spa (included with Aquaclass) wasn't our thing but we went 1 day just to "do it". Pools - we are not really sunbathers but spent some time around the main pools on port days. On sea days we didn't even try to get a sunbed as they all seemed to be reserved by breakfast time. The indoor solarium pool is usually quieter though and was very nice for swimming. EXCURSIONS We did our own thing in most ports or a hop-on, hop-off bus if it was available. In Santorini we did a ships tour to Oia, a winery and then to Fira. This was very good with a fun tour guide. In Naples we went to Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. We booked this privately and I wasn't disappointed with this part of the world, it was beautiful. We also had 3 days in Rome after the cruise which was nice but beware of being ripped off by taxis and in bars/restaurants. Did a golf cart tour in Rome which was fantastic Generally around the ship was buzzing but there were loads of quiet spaces to go if you wanted. It was a perfect mix. Everywhere was clean and almost brand new looking. Getting off (disembarking) was just as easy as getting on. We put our cases out the night before, walked off the ship at 9:30 the following day and picked the luggage up, simples! Now I'm back home and carrying a few more pounds I have to say that I cannot see past Celebrity. Although we have not tried other cruise lines, for the quality and value for money I doubt if any other line can compete. I will be back, hopefully sooner rather than later. Read Less

Our first cruise with Celebrity having done 3 previous cruises with P & O, also the first time we had cruised in the Med. Given the reputation that Celebrity have, I was expecting a level of quality higher than P & O but, whilst we enjoyed the cruise, I was a little disappointed. Embarkation in Rome was seamless and from arrival we were in our cabin within 15 minutes. The cabin was very good, the only thing lacking was tea & coffee facilities in the room (but I accept this is very much a British "thing"). The positive points were the quality of service was superb, the cabin steward, Kylen was exceptional and all the staff in the restaurants were of similar quality. The entertainment venues in the ship were well laid out but the Theatre and Sky Lounge were regularly half-empty yet the Grand Foyer, with limited space was generally heaving to the point that it was at times uncomfortable - to us it didn't seem to be the best use of facilities. The Ensemble Lounge was nice and relaxed but the Martini Bar was generally heaving and it was very difficult to find a seat. The Cruise Director Martin was very good but I was surprised by the lack of visibility of other entertainment staff. The "in house" singers were good but I found some of the shows a little bewildering, and whilst Amy Atkinson & The McDonald Brothers were fabulous, many of the other acts were average and below the level I had anticipated. The first Silent Disco was a highlight and a wonderful evening with 3 completely different genres across the 3 channels, however the final one was so disappointing as the 3 channels all had similar music, which really missed the point. The food was good, but nothing special, and in my view not as good in quality as P & O and. at times, I found the menu limited. We ate in QSine, Tuscan Grill and The Lawn Club and whilst they were all good, I did not feel they merited a $45 cover charge. The food in Oceaniew Café left a lot to be desired and, at times, it resembled a rugby scrum with it being very difficult to find a table. We had the Classic drinks package as part of the offer and thank goodness we did as the prices of the drinks were exortionate. My main gripe is the lack of deck space, on sea days and in the late afternoon not only was it almost impossible to find a sunbed but it was even more difficult to find an outside space to enjoy a drink. The Lawn Club area looks nice but takes up a ridiculous amount of space that I feel could be better utilised. We did 5 shore excursions and these were generally good, although at times far too much time is taken visiting "factories" which is an attempt to persuade you to buy over-priced goods. Overall I enjoyed the Cruise and the service was superb but I don't feel that Celebrity quite lived up to its reputation of a high-end cruise line. Read Less

PROS: Very good food and good wine in the main dining room. Nice, attentive staff. We booked a table every night, easy and a good idea since we got the same table by a window every night. Never felt the need to go to the extra (expensive) fancy restaurants. Café al Bacio on deck 5 had excellent coffee and delicious cakes. Perfect breakfast buffet in Oceanview Cafe on deck 14. Nice to sit outside in good weather. Entertainment was very good albeit a little on the "easy" side, probably to fit everyone. But you got some musical variety with the different genre bands on the various stages on the ship, e.g. a very good cellist & violinist, and a great blues/soul-duo (the guitarist was superb!) who played the best dance music in my opinion. House band was ok and preferred by most guests. The Library on deck 11 was wonderful, with a very good variety of books. Lawn Club on deck 15 was nice with very comfortable sitting areas on the lawn. Our cabin in concierge class C3 on deck 10 was perfect, and kept impeccable by our steward Brian, who saw to that we had everything we needed. An extra plus for the pillow menu, the body pillow was perfect for my back (bought one as soon as we came home). CONS: Although the excursions offered were more than ample, they were packed with a little too much - we went on three. Taormina on our own was nice, we had time to see the little village centre, stroll through lovely Florence Trevelyan's Garden and have a nice italian coffe. In Athens we had a nice tour of Akropolis and the Akropolis Museum, after that a very quick rather dull lunch in Plaka, but then we had no "free time" left at all (as promised) and had to rush straight back to the bus. Very stressful, so also the Amalfi excursion with beer tasting. An extremely long waiting in a car queue left us only 45 min in beautiful Positano, where we had to run past hordes of tourists to get down to the beach for about a 5 min look-around, a 15 min stop in a café (La Zagara, highly recommended!), and then rushed back to the bus. Same stress in Sorrento, and then a LONG journey to a small, and very nice, micro beer brewery up in the mountains for only a half hour tour & tasting. It would have been SO much better to skip the beer tasting and have more time to really enjoy Positano and Sorrento - OR to skip Sorrento and so have more time at the brewery. In Athens, please reorganize so people can stroll for at least a hour and a half after lunch and enjoy Plaka! Another critique is regarding the absolute anarchy on both sun decks! It's not allowed, but people are really greedy and selfish and "reserve" sun chairs by leaving their towels so they can leave to have coffee, lunch and whatever, and still have "their" chair towel-reserved all day long. I pointed this out, loud & clear, to a staff member who ordered someone via intercom to empty the chairs if they weren't occupied in 10 min. This was never followed through, and this rude behaviour was just silently accepted. You REALLY have to organize this better, it was so irritating!!! I suggest that you pull off every towel on every chair, and when people come back they must take a new towel and look for a new chair. When this rule applies to everyone at all times with no exceptions, no one can complain and everyone gets time in the sun. You can't leave this to the guests, they will not do it, it must be monitored by staff! And a little pro & con: Lastly I just want to give a big thumbs up to all the hard-working crew! But please, let them be normal and relaxed! It got quite annoying that they had to smile and say something cheerful and be so "positive" every time you met them or caught their eye. It's quite nice to just pass people and crew sometimes in a more normal way without these exaggerated and forced greetings all the time. I sometimes felt like I was in the movie "Truman Show". All in all: A lovely cruise on a lovely ship. A good way to see a lot of places in a relatively short time. We will explore more on shore on our own in the future, which I think is a more relaxed way to enjoy the trip. Would be nice also with excursions on themes like "Flora & Fauna", "Wildlife", "Birds". Perhaps it would be nice to try a smaller ship, this was like a small town with 3.500 passengers. We'll see what adventures beccons in the future :). Read Less

We always travel on Celebrity cruises. They pay close attention to detail and we have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and they are very willing to accommodate special requests. We ate in the dining room nightly except for one trip to Tuscan Grille. The food in the café was plentiful and gave us everything we could have wanted. For breakfast and lunch there were the usual offerings, salads, main courses, desserts, terrific breads. We were never left hungry!!! We have found the quality of the food to be consistent year to year. Our staterooms have always been clean and well maintained. Our stateroom attendant was extra good this year. We use the indoor solarium to swim because they keep the little kids out!! it never got too crowded and I swam laps daily. Embarking and disembarking were very easy. Everything was smooth and no problems were encountered. We have already booked Alaska for next year. Read Less

One of the few ships that provided the ports-of-call we were seeking. It allowed our family to vacation together with a minimum of stress and we generally were satisfied with our choice. We were gone from the ship for most of the days we were in port, so on board activities were limited to the evenings, but not much of the offerings tempted us to go often or stay late. A point of disappointment to all of us was the lack of live music available for entertainment. It's probably my age or what passes for dance music today, they did have disc-jockey music all over the place. Is it because it's a less expensive approach, or is that what people want! I hope it's not going to be the new normal. As a whole, the servers were attentive and courteous and seemed to like their jobs. Dining with the eight of us never seemed to be a problem for the hostess, who was generally able to find a table for us, by the window or out of way of the dinner traffic moving in and out of the MDR. As for the food --- there was no problem changing something that was unacceptable, so that much can be said for it. Although not fans of buffets, several times we opted for the buffet at the Oceanview Café. It seemed that the food was a bit fresher, or maybe it was because the choices were easier to chose from. The burgers and dogs at the Mast Grill weren't too bad for a quick snack. As for the extraordinarily expensive "alternative restaurants", we'd had our miserable experiences with them in the past and consider the extra cost nothing but an extravagance for mediocre food or giving us some talking points about what we did aboard. We chose instead to have many excellent lunches and snacks in the many restaurants we visited, whether in Malta, Sicily, Greece and mainland Italy. Celebrity does a much better job than most others in their price bracket, so we'll probably sail with them again. Read Less

We first flew into Rome and spent 3 days touring the city. This is a must. Absolutely loved Rome. Having never been on a cruise before we were not sure what to expect. Checking into the ship was a breeze and so well organized. This took us approximately 15 mins. We were soon up on the top deck with a drink in our hands leaving the luggage to be taken to our room later. The ship was magnificent and the cabin - and especially the bathroom - much more spacious then I ever expected. Now i will clarify that we had a room with a balcony so it was more expensive. The staff was extremely friendly and always around so you never had to go looking for someone to help you. The dining was amazing. The ship will try to sell you packages to specialty restaurants but it is totally unnecessary. The food in the Opus dining room was delicious - again, beyond expectations. The buffet was a standard buffet but had many, many options, was clean, hot and always full. The entertainment was a bit of a letdown. They had only one act that was shown twice in the evening in a theater. I was only blown away by one of the acts - the Tenors of Rock. There were many small bands and vocals throughout the day that were nice. But the reason we went were for the stops. The ports that were chosen in Italy and Greece were the best. We did not take the ship's excursions as we wanted to go with four of us instead of a busload. But anytime that we did have to disembark and embark was done smoothly and efficiently. My only complaint during the cruise was on days at sea. There were not enough seats available outside for everyone and the pool was way too small for all of the people. Read Less

We chose this cruise based on the ports. We had been to Italy a few times but never the Greek Islands. We had originally chosen a cruise that started in Barcelona but that trip was cancelled by Celebrity. This was our first time in Aqua class. We booked this class based on the great reviews of Aqua class dining. We actually thought the food was better in the main dining room. The service in Blue was excellent we just were not impressed by the bland food. We did purchase 3 nights of specialty dining and loved our meals in Tucson grill, Murano and the porch. Food at all of these places was amazing. We thought the room was very nice. We rarely saw our cabin steward but when we did he was very friendly. We were NOT impressed with the shows. This was our second cruise and our first was a 7 night cruise with 3 nights of comedy. This cruise was 10 nights and we had no comedy. We are just not a fan of the other shows. The cruise director was amazing and he did his best to keep everyone entertained with the evening events such as the bands and the best part of all was the silent disco. Very fun and very entertaining. We did the upgrade beverage package and felt is was worth the extra 10.00 a day just to be able to have martini bar and our last few days we discovered the world bar. This was a hidden gem and they had the best drinks on the ship. If you have upgraded your package stop and have a drink there. The ports on this cruise were amazing. We did our own thing and did not do the celebrity tours and we had an adventure at every port. Read Less

My husband and I chose this cruise for the itinerary. All around the service was very good. The staff were very accommodating in the dinning area as well as all the bars we went to. With the exception of one evening at dinner. We had open seating so we bounced around different tables although they did try to keep us in same area. However, one night we sat in different area and the staff were not engaging and/or attentive, didn't ask my husband if he wanted anything to drink, refilled water cups. The next day I commented it to one of our regular tables and the manager came to us and asked. We told him we didn't want to get anyone in trouble but appreciated him asking. The bartenders at the Martini Bar were excellent as well as the service at the Il Bacio (the coffee shop). The entertainment was poor for our taste. Overall service was very good!! Read Less

Wonderful tasteful ship. My husband and I enjoyed our 25th wedding anniversary on board ship, and the staff went out of their way to help us celebrate. Luminae was wonderful, and regret that we took the dining package to leave that wonderful dining room, although enjoyed Murano and Tuscany. Qsine and LawnClub were OK. Michaels Club was our getaway from the crowds, just wish we had a view of the ocean from inside that elegant hideaway. The entertainment was fun and innovative. We enjoyed a couples massage that was over the top expensive. My criticism is that we felt crowded in main areas; particularly in the lifts that grew smellier with each passing day. We had not a prayer of getting a seat by the any of the pool area on sea-days, since people grab seats for their family and friends who don't use them for hours, wrecking it for others and this rude grabby behavior was never addressed. There is room for improvement, although overall we had a good experience. Would have liked more educational and enrichment talks beyond sales and art lectures. I am now interested in much smaller ships and may look beyond Celebrity, even though this was our 6th sailing. We are 10 points away from Elite; felt that the amenities from Select are few and far between after having 6 cruises with Celebrity. Tours were too crowded for my taste, as compared to other lines I have been on. Read Less

We wanted to visit all the ports of call and wasn't disappointed they were terrific. From arriving and getting on the Reflection we were treated like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble for our cabin boy Antony who went out of his way to help us. I have a back problem and have to take my own foam mattress wherever we go. He immediately made the bed up for me without us having to remind him as we have had to do on so many of our other cruises. The critisism we had was that weren't allowed shower gel being told it was for suites only which in my opinion was so petty when we had paid so much for the cruise. The service and food in the restaurants was wonderful. We were in any time dining and loved it being we were sat with different people every evening. The waiters were all wonderful so pleasant and whatever I wanted they did their best to get it for me. Even the Guest Relations desk were so helpful which is quite unusual going by other cruises. We also loved the entertainment especially the special guests who were different every night. We thought Martin the Cruise Director was terrific with a terrific sense of humour. I personally thought the Production team wasn't varied enough although they were fantastic dancers. All in all loved every minute of the cruise and look forward to going back on the Reflection again. We chose this cruise due to the ports and only 2 sea days. We spent 3 days in rome prior to boarding the ship - rome was incredible! the embarkment process was so smooth and we were on-board so quickly! The food in the main dining room was wonderful and the service fantastic. My only complaint is that on sea days - unless you were up very early - it was nearly impossible to find a place to enjoy the day. most of the lounges were "saved" - which i did not think was allowed.. But it happened. the cruise was fabulous - the ports were amazing that the shore excursions were well run and enjoyable. the longest (waits) lines were at the bars.. Very well run ship and spotless! crew was friendly and kind. Disembarkment was smooth as well -- it was very sad to leave the ship and know our cruise was over - but we have so many wonderful memories to last a life time.. i highly recommend this cruise! [I'm going to keep this shorter than my "regular" reviews] We chose this cruise to celebrate my birthday, bringing 3 friends with us. There being 5 of us total it made more sense financially on a per person basis to book a Suite (we stayed in Signature Suites on prior cruises and loved them) and we chose the Reflection Suite More about that later. Our friends had never been to Europe so this was, as one put it, "the trip of a lifetime" and I have to say all the ports were terrific, each very different from the other. The ship itself is beautiful and with the Reflection Suite you get everything included - everything - including a special stripe down the side of your Sea Pass card that indicates your are in the Reflection Suite. Our Butler, Joey, was friendly and efficient and our Suite Attendant, Francis, was as well. Our dining experiences in both Luminae and the specialty restaurants were all very good to excellent. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with Michael's Club: we never heard from the MC Concierge, Bogdan, save for the first day, and got the feeling that he was completely overwhelmed. The MC bartender, a woman from Jamaica, gave us a really weird vibe so we only went there once. All in all it was disappointing as on prior cruises MC was a fun place to enjoy a nightcap. Not that it's important to some, but we rarely saw any of the ship's officers. Again, very different from before when they would be all over day and night. We booked all our own shore excursions, so we can't comment on Celebrity's offerings. We had a lot of fun at the Martini Bar and our regular waiter, Agung, remembered our drinks almost immediately. There were some nights when it was hard to find a place to sit, but not because of folks drinking but because so many Any Time dining people used the MB to hang out and wait for their buzzers to go off. Celebrity might want to think about putting extra seating outside the MDR for them to wait. We didn't go to any of the shows (not for us) so can't comment. The new (or at least new to us) event is the silent disco, where attendees are given headphones and can select a channel to listen/dance to. People seemed to really enjoy it, although listening to a whole bunch of people trying to sing "Build Me Up Buttercup" was a little rough on the ears. So, the Reflection Suite: if I had to do it all over, would I book it again? No. We probably would have booked 2 adjacent Signature Suites instead. The RS offered more space in the Living Room (and the forward facing windows were fantastic), but the bedrooms were the same size as was the balcony, and it was nice having the second bedroom. The "cool" factor of the Master Bathroom died off after a couple of days. While we're glad we did it (and our friends were blown away by the ship overall) we wouldn't do it again. Celebrity is changing and, for us, not heading in a direction that interests us. We used this trip to also decide if we wanted to continue with them or find a new company to cruise with. Celebrity seems to us to have lost the "wow" it used to have and is now relying on gimmicks to attract new customers. While we had a nice time, it's time for us to move on. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we fell in love with the ship when we sailed on it 3 years ago. This time we decided to splurge on a Sky Suite and we were very happy with the suite experience. The room was huge, the balcony was huge, bathroom was great. It was always cleaned immaculately. There was some type of odd overhang above the Sky Suites and we weren't thrilled that it blocked the sun. These rooms should probably be advertised with partial obstruction. The Luminae Suite restaurant was truly amazing, we were very impressed with the food and the service in the venue. The hostess had a wonderful personality and we looked forward to chatting with her on the evenings we dined there. We also had lunch here on the two sea days and it was truly incredible. Breakfast was fantastic as well. Can't rave about this place enough! The Suite also included butler service. The butler was very friendly, sweet and accommodating, it just seemed like perhaps he had too many rooms to service. Although he always tried so hard, there were often minor challenges. We ordered room service breakfast for two one day, but breakfast arrived only for one person. We asked for daily ice buckets but they never arrived until we called to remind. Minor inconveniences, but we had high expectations, so we were a bit surprised by this. Michael's Club was nice, the service was fast, friendly, and efficient. It was a little stuffy and dark in there, we would have preferred the heavy curtains be pulled open with perhaps a view of the sea. We ate at Tuscan Grille twice and the food was fantastic both times, as was the sommeiler and the servers. Bring your appetite to this restaurant! We also ate at Lawn Club Grille twice(great both times) and attended the special Mediterranean night which was a big fun party with tons of fun and free flowing wine. The buffet was a let down, we went once or twice and then didn't return. We also tried the burgers at the pool bar and weren't thrilled there either. We absolutely loved the Martini Bar and the World Class Bar. So did everyone else it seemed, it was always a busy spot. We watched sail away from the Sunset Bar several times which is also a popular, lively spot. We only attended two shows. One was Tenors of Rock, and this was completely amazing. There was a second show that we left 10 minutes in, it was really bad. One of the biggest let down's of this trip was the tour that we booked through Celebrity in Santorini. They loaded a ton of people onto a huge monster sized coach that barely fit through the crowded streets. They really ruined this day (in fact, it was kind of a nightmare). At one point for approximately an hour the bus inched back and forth about a million times when another bus of the same size was trying to pass in the opposite direction. I am confident that Celebrity must be aware of this problem yet they keep selling these tours for profit. Pretty much everyone on the bus stated they were going to complain. We also rented an Alcove twice and really enjoyed this quiet time away from the crowds. On the other sea day and the Athens day, we hung around by the pool and the drink service was quick and efficient. Overall we loved the cruise and will return to Celebrity again. We will never use their shore excursions, however. We are excited for the new ship, the Edge and will probably wait for it's arrival before rebooking. Read Less

We are a group of 5 couples who have travelled together a few times already and wanted to have a taste of the Greek islands, it was perfect!! A beautiful cabin with balcony boasts a great view when approaching ports. A 10 day cruise and only 2 at sea. The food was 5 star in the main dining room and service over and beyond. A special thank you to the staff: Froelan(Head Server) Magdalena, Richard (sommelier) and Jocelyn (drinks). You made our experience memorable! Let's not forget our concierge Bertollino and Head MaitreD' Marko. This is my third cruise, first Carnaval Caribbean, MSC Mediterranean and last Celebrity Greek Isles. Celebrity by far the best! Embarking was a breeze and so was disembarking at the different isles even with tenders. Shore excursions for me are overrated, we mostly enjoyed walking around the towns and enjoying the local flavours of food and wine. Read Less

To celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, we explored both Venice and Rome for a few days before we boarded the ship. It was nice to have a chance to spend time in those remarkable cities to see the historical sites and the beauty of each city! Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and efficient. Rome Cabs picked us up from our hotel in Rome at 10:00 am and dropped us off at the port shortly after 11:00 am. We were one of the first people to board the ship. When the cruise was over, we simply walked off the ship with our luggage and met the Rome Cabs driver at the port. The ship is beautiful! We particularly liked the tree suspended in the elevator shaft in the atrium and the banks of four glass elevators traveleing up and down on either side of the tree. We also liked the various lounges on the decks - the library, the gameroom, the Apple store, and the Hideaway. We weren't impressed with the lawn on Deck 15 and only spent time there on the day we boarded. Our cabin was spacious and comfortable. Our cabin attendant - Maricris was very friendly and very efficient! We ate breakfast every morning in the Ocean View Cafe except for getting room service for two mornings when we had early excursion departure times. Once we figured out what each station in the cafe offered, we managed to eat delicious breakfasts with a lot of variety. We ate dinner each night in Opus - the main dining room. At first we didn't have a table assignment, but we managed to form a table with two other couples after the second night with help of our server Jimmy, and had wonderful conversations with them each evening. The meals were delicious for the most part, but some of the food could have been warmer when it was served. There was a good variety of dishes offered at dinner - especially the appetizers. We enjoyed the live shows in the theater every night. However, we thought the sound system was too loud and the cruise's production cast shows were a little odd - especially Elysium! We watched two movies in the secondary theater and found the seats to be very uncomfortable! It was hard to sit through a two-hour movie in seats that made you sit in an odd angle! The service was excellent on the ship! Every crew member greeted us when we passed them onboard. We did have difficulty flagging down a server on the pool deck a few times. Our servers in the main dining room, Jimmy and Arol, were friendly and efficient. They didn't spend a lot of time chatting with us becuase they were busy serving all their tables. We chose this cruise based on the ports we visited. Each port was unique and interesting. We only did two shore excursions with Celebrity - the Island of Delos excursion at Mykonos and the Volcano Hike and Hot Spring Swim at Santorini. We had excellent guides for both excursions. We will definitely cruise with Celebrity again! Read Less

Ports of call especially Greece were the main reasons for this cruise. After several cruises with Celebrity and a wonderful cruise on the Silhouette in April we were looking forward to this cruise. The ship is the largest of the Celebrity Solstice fleet and the least well run of all Celebrity ships. From useless Guest relations staff and management to incompetent food preparation services, we would never sail on the Reflection again. The kitchen could not handle special dietary concerns for advanced notice meals and the ordering at Cafe el Bacio and getting a decaf drink was a 50-50 proposition if you did not watch them make your drink. If you have a health concern be VERY, VERY careful. Meals, when properly prepared, ranged from inedible to very good. Regular meals that consisted of a beef dish varied at the same table. One had a melt in the mouth steak and another could barely cut it with a knife, let alone chew it. Service was good but despite the efforts of the waiters and the maitre'ds, you never knew what quality meal you would get in the main dining room. After the first night several tables around us were never occupied again for the entire cruise. We suspect people were at the Ocean view cafe or an upscale venue after the first night experience. Stateroom attendant was superior, entertainment was excellent with the exception of he boring and repetitive productions shows. Any problems brought to the attention of the Guest Relations desk were mainly ignored. The Captains Club Hostess was the only one who really cared if one enjoyed the cruise or not. Read Less

I chose this cruise for the ports of call and they absolutely lived up to expectation. Incredible and if you get the chance, you should definitely go to the Greek islands! I have only done RCI cruises before and on the newest ships so my standards were set fairly high before sailing. The boarding process was super quick and painless and access to the rooms was from 12.30 which was nice! The rooms themselves were nice - adequate size although the sofa was definitely showing signs of age and was quite worn. Bathroom was lovely - great size shower. Room attendant was brilliant - addressed us by name every day and couldn't do enough to help. Food and drink were excellent - only dined in the main dining room 4 times out of 10 nights - would say the service there can be hit and miss - especially from the rude somellier if you say you don't want wine, she would simply walk away without offering any other drinks. Upgraded to the premium drinks package - definitely worth the extra if you like a good wine or cocktail. Did not enjoy the staff at every bar scrutinising your room card after every order to see which package you had - cheapened the experience somewhat. Entertainment was a let down - this is where I may have been spoiled by RCI! The same show was repeated twice every night in the theater and tended to be aimed at the older guest - Rat Pack one night, Mowtown another. The "in-house" shows were truly awful - singing a bunch of pop songs for an hour with no story or acting is not a show and only 2 or 3 of the cast could actually sing. The house band were good but after 3 nights started repeating sets and please give them some time off - they would be doing 3 or 4 sets a day! The only thing entertainment I did enjoy was the full moon party silent disco. On sea days, it was almost impossible to get a lounger after 9am - lots of people used clips to attach their towels to the sunloungers all day - tragic! Did enjoy the tranquility of the solarium but the adults only policy was not enforced. All in all I would say this was a 7/10 cruise - food and drink were great, ports of call were amazing, cruise ship in general was very well maintained. I think from now on, I will stick to RCI though..... Read Less
