This was return to the Reflection for us, and a first time for our friends. We had also booked Aqua Class cabins for the first time, so were excited to see if the experience lived up to everything we had been told it would be. We had travelled straight from the airport to the ship, in an independent transfer. Arrival at the port and embarkation was well organised, with no real lines and it was very very speedy. The ship is beautiful, with familiar features from the other Solstice Class ships, but with a redesigned top deck to accommodate more cabins. There were lots (600+) under 21's onboard, which given that this was a summer holidays cruise probably shouldn't have been as much of a surprise as it was, but most of the time the ship felt very quiet, especially on an evening. I have never seen the Martini bar so quiet which was great, but there were areas (The Retreat most notably) which seemed to attract big groups of teenagers, to the exclusion of other passengers. Our Aqua Class cabin was nice, but compared to a Concierge cabin wasn't really any different. The shower was fancier, but I don't know that it was really any better on the whole. It was nice to have access to the Persian Garden, which is larger on this ship than the other Solstice Class ships. One of the main attractions for people booking Aqua is Blu, the restaurant primarily for Aqua Class guests. We had been told that it was very much like a speciality restaurant. We ended up eating here twice on an evening, and booked speciality dining for the rest of our meals. Blu was lovely, the team were friendly and helpful, and the food was nice, but I have to say I was a little underwhelmed. I think this was probably due to people raving about the experience, and me expecting too much! Speciality dining was as always excellent. Lawn Club Grill was especially good, and the Mediterranean night that they held was particularly great. The other exceptional experience was Le Petit Chef. I loved Qsine, and was sad that Le Petit Chef has completely taken over on Reflection, but it is a fun night, with good food, and you have to eat here! The entertainment was probably the most disappointing aspect of the trip. With the exception of The Flyrights, every show was disappointing. The production shows were tired, apart from Euphoria, which was really good. The ports were lovely, all of them busy, but beautiful. All in all, a great cruise! Read Less

we had a wonderfull Cruise, the ship is beautifull, everyone is so friendly The dining in the Luminae was exceptionnel. (We had a Sky Suite) The entertainment wag very good. We didnt book any excursions on board, because they are very expensif and you can find in every city a taxi tour for less money, and this is only for the 2 of us. or you can go with a hopon/hopof bus, witch are very well organised in European city's It wasn't our first time in de Mediterranean, and we did visit almost all the city's 2 days in Athens is a bit to much for us, (to crowdy, to warm) we would prefer a second day in Napels, because there is so mucht to see, Napels, Sorrento, Pompei, and Capri to much to do in one day. But it was a wonderfull holiday, and yes we booked our next one on the Reflection. Read Less

This is our 2nd time w/ Celebrity Reflection in 6 mo., & we downgraded our overall ratings for the following reasons: 1. Handicap room is not safe for the handicapped passengers. My husband had a wonderful exp. w/ Royal Carribean Freedom of the Sea's handicap room. Its thoughoutful design & spaciousness won him over, thus he insisted on choosing the Celebrity's handicap room. What a disappointment that was! First all, there's a design flaw. Instead of the drainage all around the shower area like the RC, there was a rectangle drainage at the corner. Depending how we docked at a particular port, our entire bathroom was flooded. At one time, we had 10 towels on the soaking floor. This created two health hazard: 1) possible trip & fall, & 2) mildew triggered asthma problems. Fortunately for my husband, I moved all the towels at night to make sure his safety. Unfortunately to me, a healthy athletic, I slipped. While I was trying to hold on to the wall, I bent my wrist inward & hurt for a few days. However, the pressing issue is what if my husband splipped & fell. Can Celebrity afford such contingency injury b/c of poor safety design? As you can imagine, the flooding issue may cause the mildew problem. One time my husband was on the other side of the boat & walking by two handicapped room during the cleaning, he said the strong smell almost unbearable. As soon as we were on the boat the 1st day, we addressed the issue to the supervisor. Boy, did they try! Before we knew it, a half of our vacation was gone & the smell was still there. My husband begged for a regular room b/c he couldn't breathe, but the room were all occupied. The worst of all was we couldn't have a direct talk w/ a designated person. The person my husband was referred to played the phone tags w/ us in 3 days. The officer who came over 11:30 pm at our room to see the flood situation promised us he would take care of the issue, but we never heard back from him. Until I spot the dirty toilet brush, did we get sone relief from the mildew smell. Otherwise, our vacation would have been ruined just by those 2 issues. 2. Smoking As soon as we were on board the first day, we smelt the smoking from our neighbor cabin. We talked to the supervisor. She said to let her know next time, which happened to be the next day. She & one crew member witnessed the guest's smoking w/ a cigarette between his fingers. She said it's against the Celebrity's policy to smoke on balcony & promised us she would take care of it immediately. Maybe she did; however, the last night before our returning to Rome, the smoking was back again. Instead of enjoying the sound of ocean waves, we shut our balcony door tight to protect our lungs. 3. International sales call I received an international sales call from one of the tours we booked through the Celebrity. Seemed there's a local manufacture presentation scheduled at the end of each group tour. One of them was carpet making in Turkey. I had to say they were aggressive of selling their merchandise to you, but what made me furious was Celebrity may have passed our personal information to them. When I picked up the phone the other day, the first thing the man said, "This is John. Did you enjoy your tour at our carpet place in Turkey?" I never even gave the my name, much less my cell phone. How did they get my information? I'm doubtful I will sign up any more group tours w/ Celebrity arrangement unless Celebrity can safeguard our personal data. 4. Blue restaurant & Oceanview cafe The quality of Blue had definitely gone down. There were sand in my spinach salad, & the meat was dry, so we ate either in specialty restaurants or to the Oceanview for our dinner. W/ so many international crew members, one would think someone can give an honest opinion about the food representing his/her country's cuisine. If the label says, "Fried Rice", in a Chinese station, it'd better have some evidence of shredded eggs in there, but there was none. The sushi station did not have any eel rolls, whereas RC did. If Celebrity claims to provide a better experience than the RC, please show us some evidence. Read Less

My son and son-in-law took me on the eleven night Eastern Mediterranean Cruise as a belated retirement gift. It was heaven. The ship was superb, the room exquisitely clean, the balcony, in 28 degree sun, with a cool breeze off the Mediterranean, a delight. Breakfast was delivered to the room promptly at the time indicated, because I took the responsibility to fill out the card properly the night before. Those who missed that step can blame only themselves. The meals in the Aqua Class dining room were superb AND healthy. I treated the boys to the Tasting Menu in Murano's and it was beyond words wonderful. The crew and staff, almost without exception, were universally polite, accommodating, respectful yet without obsequious deference. Floren in the Martini Bar should be singled out for his professional service and his very kind warmth in relating to us. Neily in The Spa gave the best manicure and pedicure I have ever had. All the staff, whether your room attendant or not, were universally polite, greeting you in the hallway and wishing you the best. The only exception, sadly, that was my sons' experience, was one Jamaican bar waiter who was, sadly due to his heritage, blatantly anti-gay. Other than that, everyone was superb and highly professional. As I read other reviews, I am astounded at some of the comments I read, especially regarding the on-shore tours. Do these people actually expect that these ports cities and towns which have existed for thousands of years, will actually be re-organised to meet their silly individual little needs? Beyond comprehension! I am an old man with cardio-pulmonary difficulties. Do I expect them to bulldoze Santorini to meet my needs. No, I adapt and get over it. As an experienced cruiser, one is accustomed to loud, rude, overbearing and 'entitled' Americans. One avoids them as much as possible. However, on October 14 I stood in line at Passenger Services and witnessed an American woman who was the worst piece of trailer trash I have ever encountered. She yelled, she bullied, she threatened, she told the Customer Service rep that she would report her to Trip Advisor, she would yell at the Captain that night at his table (it was an open dining room - big deal!) over some imagined slight. The Passenger Services rep dealt with these insults in a calm and entirely professional manner which I admired so very much. So, I can say truthfully, as a proud Canadian, that the ship and crew more than met our expectations, and that the majority of Americans on board descended to their expected level of behaviour.
