As usual, Celebrity delivered excellent food and service on our recent Baltic cruise. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and efficient. Our balcony cabin was larger on the Reflection than on past Celebrity ships. The layout was great and the extra space was appreciated. The entertainment was good, but not spectacular. We have become comfortable with the fact that if you want big productions, try Celebrity's sister line - Royal Caribbean. Rob Lewis, a Phil Collins tribute act, was great. The service in the Opus restaurant was exceptional - as was the food. I can't imagine what our waiters and sommelier could have done any better. We did have dinner in the Tuscan Grille one evening and it was a disappointment. Three of us ordered steaks. Two were too rare and one was overdone. By the time we got one steak redone, everything was cold. We paid $45 each and wished we had eaten in the Opus dining room. The ship is fabulous. Although we were with 3,300 other guests, the ship never felt crowded. There are enough small areas (library, Hideaway, etc.) that we could always find some quiet places when we desired. We toured Berlin, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Stockholm with TJ Travel Tours. All were great experiences. Our guide in St. Petersburg was Natasha and she worked very hard for two 10-hour days. Her knowledge of Russian history was exceptional. She was old enough to have lived under Soviet rule, so she also had an interesting perspective on the czars, the Soviets and on life after the fall of the Soviet Union. We toured Copenhagen on a Celebrity tour, since TJ was not able to form a group there. The guide was knowledgeable and we got a good feel for the city. Overall, it was a great trip. We were extremely lucky with the weather. We traveled with a couple who had just gotten their first passports and this was their first cruise. We warned them that the Reflection experience will probably spoil them for future cruises. Read Less

Let me start by saying that it's 20 years since our last cruise and after reading reviews and itineraries for the different cruise lines, my husband and I decided on Celebrity. We also chose Amsterdam as the departure port because we didn't want to fly for various reasons. The check-in and embarkation could not have been better. No problems whatsoever. At this point I think it's only fair to say that as for security, it was first class. Obviously because of the times we live in it had to be much stricter than our last cruise but as a result, we felt very safe on board. A big thank you to celebrity for that. As we were Concierge class it included a welcome aboard lunch in the Opus Restaurant. However, as were given an embarkation time of 1 o'clock, by the time we got to the restaurant in question we found another couple trying to get in but had been told it closed a few minutes earlier. All four of us explained our situation and finally, we were allowed in. Not a good start to our cruise as we believe the restaurant should have been informed of the latest time for concierge guests to board and be directed there for lunch. Thankfully it was the only incident on embarkation day. Our Concierge Aldin Buendia, was very helpful and kind. As we both have food allergies and after experiencing some difficulties during an "open seating" for dinner in the Opus Restaurant the day we were docked in Warnemunde, she immediately dealt with our complaints and everything was sorted out. From then on, we had the same table (142) all the time with our trusted waiters Yanin, Tatitiana and Sergei to take care of us. A big thank you to all of you. However, like other reviews we did feel the menu in this restaurant could have been a lot better. We had no problems with the quality of the food, but the selection/description left a lot to be desired. Specialty Restaurants - we didn't dine in any as we believe guests shouldn't have to pay extra for things like that. It seems cruise lines are now putting profit before guests which we think is a step in the wrong direction. Spa - had my hair done twice by Anderson for the two Chic Evenings and found him excellent. Gave me some very helpful advice all of which I have since acted upon. Thank you! Photo Gallery - excellent. As my husband doesn't like having his picture taken, we have very few over the last number of years. However, as we we were celebrating a few things, we decided to have some taken around the ship and on good advice by the staff took the "photo package" for $250. Best value ever! Evening entertainment Reflection Theatre - we enjoyed most nights. The best ones for us were The Overtures Stares of St Petersburg Folkloric Group and The FlyRights. We felt Celebrity's own production shows we not great and the costumes let it down. It's as if they wanted to do the whole thing on a shoestring. My experience of shows on a cruise were spectacular with props and costumes giving it a real Broadway feel. These were nothing like it unfortunately. As for the places visited, see our reviews of each port. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise very much and would certainly recommend Celebrity and this itinerary without hesitation. One final piece of advice: if you experience any problems whatsoever do not hesitate to speak to the person in charge. Read Less

We chose Celebrity for our Baltic cruise, because of previous great on a previous Caribbean experience several years ago. We had two couples in two veranda rooms on decks 6 & 7. All four members of our party were truly thrilled with our overall experience. The food and service in the main Opus dining room was excellent! I’m gluten free and the staff and kitchen did an incredible job of giving me great multiple options every night. In addition, we had the premium beverage package that was a huge bargain the entire trip. I got my favorite wines, my wife her favorite vodka & our friends got their favorite bourbon. They even had gluten free beer for me when I was in a beer mood. We tried two of the upscale restaurants over the course of our 12 day cruise. Murano was nice, but we had slow service our first night. Fortunately, Tanya, the head of all the specialty restaurants gave us a bottle of champagne to show her appreciation for our patience. We tried Tuscany twice (Italian) and loved the giant all window room on the back of the ship. The food, service and beverages did not disappoint. We did dine in the giant cafe a few times, but preferred the sit down meals with service when offered. The shows and entertainment was very good most nights. We loved the silent disco experience, where everyone wears headphones and you have three options of songs to dance to. Our only real complaints are on their very lame WiFi and their nearly worthless Celebrity app. Both truly disappointed us, but the balance of the experience was excellent. Rooms were nice size and well maintained throughout. We’re already looking for the next itinerary on the Celebrity Reflection! Cheers! Read Less

This was our 15th cruise on Celebrity. In 2011 we took our eldest son with us (who was 8 months at the time) and had a great time on Eclipse. Previously we had just cruised as a couple. So ... based on previous experience we booked a 2 week cruise on Eclipse with my parents and our two sons (aged 1 and 2 1/2). We booked a family room which was amazing - 2 bedrooms and a huge lounge/dining room. There are only 4 of these cabins on the ship and they are one of the best kept secrets - the square footage was similar to the Royal Suite. The only negative was that there was no bath - we improvised with a paddling pool for the children! The good things... - The cabin! - Embarkation - very fast and friendly staff at Southampton - The main restaurant assistant maitre'd (Vladamir) - very helpful and flexible - accommodated all food requests for our children - The photography staff - we booked a photo package and they made sure we got excellent value for money - The shop staff - Disembarkation - the quickest ever - 10 minutes from leaving our cabin to getting in a taxi at Southampton The bad things... - The Cruise Director - he was terrible - kept a very low profile and didn't 'lead' his team - Our stateroom attendant - was surly and rude and he rarely cleaned our room properly. He also resented the fact that we ate many of our meals in our cabin - to take advantage of our large dining room table and as it was easier when the children were tired. He flatly refused to bring us a high chair in the cabin. Fortunately the restaurant staff over ruled him - The Ocean view cafe - tables took ages to be cleared and cleaned and on many occasions we had to wait over 20 minutes for staff to find high chairs - Entertainment - far fewer quizzes than previously and the evening shows were tacky - Captain's Club - has lost its way and sense of being something special But... The worst area was the Kid's Club. The staff were totally disinterested in children and sat talking amongst themselves the whole time. Many of the toys were broken or had no batteries in. Loud dance music was played non stop in the kid's club that was enough to give anyone a headache! But the worst thing was that my husband and I were told that we couldn't both come to the kid's club with our children - only one of us at a time. This was crazy as there were only 6 other toddlers on the ship and the area was normally empty. Celebrity let us down and for the first time in many years, we are jumping ship and have booked our next cruise on Royal Caribbean. I know there will be more for our children to do on this line but I mainly hope that the staff have more of a 'can do attitude....!' Read Less

The ship is stunning, as always. But the new Reflection suite shower makes her look lopsided. It sticks out like Finding Nemo's little flipper....we did not get to see inside of this new suite though much to our disappointment. We did see the other new suites. The Signature suite was nice, but had absolutely no dresser space -for items such as a latpop. Bathroom with view through to bedroom -with glass that goes opaque at the touch of a switch. The new AQ suites seemed identical to the Sky Suite - with the exception of the shower. The shower heads in the cabins are now adjustable on a bar to move up and down and with an adjustable head. Interconnecting cabins now connect via a door in the wall as opposed to the outer lobby system used on the other s-class ships. Other changes - the new aft Sunset Bar now has comfortable seating, in a rich purple colour -making it look rather Moroccan or Indian. The bar is now in the middle of the area. There is a slope leading into Ocean View now. We wonder how wheel chairs will cope. We also noticed other slopes when walking around the ship. Sky lounge is a lovely blue and taupe colour but half the size as has been mentioned. The washrooms are now also included within the Sky lounge (but not shown on the deck plans!) We wonder where they will put the 1000+ Elite members that they have on some crossings with such a reduced space? Mr Bayley did say in his Building Bridges talk that there will be changes to the tiers within the next 6 months though. Also the most expensive rooms on the ship are just the other side of the wall to the Sky lounge. We hope they invested in good quality soundproofing; as there is no more Quasar Disco and the nightly disco will now also be held in the Sky lounge. With the additional deck the lay out is slightly different - you walk straight from the Solarium into the Sky lounge, where as on the other s-class ships it is a natural flow from the Solarium to the Spa area. Quasar is now a dedicated conference facility with it's own galley. There is a new bar in the area outside (by Celebrity Central). Molecular Bar is twice the size. The lovely huge hammocks by the entrance to the Solarium are no more. There appeared to be more Cabanas by the Lawn Club. Wish they would get rid of them. No one uses them. Persian Gardens is extended with 16 beds and new rooms - a grotto with infrared heat; a cold room, a hamman and an aromatherapy room. A day pass is $35. The gym has also expanded with a private training gym for $45ph and a Flywheel room - where you cycle in the dark for $25ph Opus dining room is a soft taupe colour too - it feels much 'warmer'. There is a new Game On room where there are table computer games, and the Future Sales consultants are in a new area above the Library. The tree has grown metal roots... As it was a preview sailing there were several travel partners on board. The ship was jumpin'. The music was loud throughout..... Read Less
