This is my 27th review for Cruise Critic. Unlike some reviewers that join this group just to complain about a bad experience, I have, for the past 10+ years felt obliged to write about my cruise experiences. I am a professional writer in another life which tends to make my reviews verbose, long and thorough. If you want to know simply if we liked our time on the Edge, just count the stars. If you ...
We went on the edge to see the new type of ship celebrity was putting out.The ship was beautiful. Everything was neat and clean. The cabins were immaculate. We enjoyed the new veranda balcony. It was nice being able to see outside without the wind and heat entering the room.We opened the balcony windows twice and decided that it was better keeping the heat and moisture out of the room. The black out ...
We wanted to try out the new Infinite verandas and liked this 11 day itinerary. It was a perfect fit for our grandson’s two week Spring break. The entertainment was wonderful; some of the best we have seen on a cruise ship in years. We were very disappointed in the food. As mentioned, very limited menu selections. We did two Specialty restaurants, Le Petite and Fine Cut. These were very good. ...
My wife and I took this 11 day cruise to Aruba with her high school friend and her friend's boyfriend. Pros: the food was excellent, and all the Celebrity staff were friendly and helpful. We particularly liked the Tuscan restaurant and ate there every night of the cruise. We also believed we got a good deal on the cost of the trip and the $400 in free benefits.
Cons: the excursion to ...
We are very experienced cruisers (over 66 cruises) and while there are some ships we like and some we don't, it takes something to really impress us. The Celebrity Edge did just that. I am going to address only things about the ship. Port excursions and opinions about ports I will leave to others.
To begin, the ship itself is beautiful and functional. Plenty of gorgeous and/or interesting ...
We love the Edge class ships so the Edge was a no-brainer for us. We had never been to Cartagena, Aruba, or Curacao before so we were looking forward to dipping our toes in the waters of South America for the first time. Sailing was smooth, calm winds and sunny skies.
Cartegena was definately not fun. We did a bus tour and we stayed on the bus and observed while other passengers got off ...
We had a great experience on Celebrity a few years back, so with the south western itinerary offered, it was a good choice.
Our dissatisfaction is not with the crew who were all great. Some even exceptional, especially in the dining room. Our disappointments were with the "all included" package being so restricted and upgrades so expensive. Start with the internet. You can't Skype the grandkids ...
We choose cruises by the destination as we have no desire to do the same loop over and over again. Unfortunately many cruise lines rarely offer new countries or options other than the USA as homeports. As Canadians we find Celebrity do change things up and have done Asia, India, Middle East, Antarctica/ South America with them. This cruise appealed because of Panama and Colombia, new countries for ...
Columbia, Costa Rica, Panama - locations we had not been
Had signed up for a 4 class barre package Friday before departure. When arrived friends went to spa and was told they were cancelled. I expected to automatically get a refund, not so. Waited 7 days and I had to go to request a refund. Poor customer service.
Hubby and I had booked a couples massage. Went to spa to be told they ...
The cruise was great, but there were a couple of downsides. The food, room and entertainment were excellent. However, we felt that the amenities were a cut below Royal Caribbean. We are going on a RCCL cruise in April so we will be able to see which one is best after the pandemic. I was surprised that Celebrity added a $17+ charge for lobster dinner. This was always free.
The real awful ...
