We live in Vancouver so this was a great convenience to embark and disembark in Vancouver. This was our 6th cruise but first with Celebrity. Overall, the cruise was fine. The ship was clean and fairly well maintained. There were some worn items which needed attention. Embarkation (going onboard): THE RECEPTION: GREAT: Everyone was welcomed onboard with a Mimosa which was a nice touch. NOT SO GREAT: The deck on which embarkation was taking place was small and congested. Nobody seemed to know where to go after we were given the mimosa and none of the staff directed or intentionally welcomed too many people. The Staff: GREAT: MOST of the staff were friendly and pleasant. Our cabin attendant and 2 dining room servers were WONDERFUL. (very low key and quiet but great servers) NOT SO GREAT: More than a few staff were low key and didn't make eye contact unless they were trying to sell a drink package. The Ship: GREAT: Very clean and well-maintained. The lounges and sitting area are beautiful, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The outside deks are clean and beautiful. NOT SO GREAT: There some areas which needed a bit more attention. The elevator panels (inside and outside) were a bit scrached up and the plastic on the buttons of a couple of the elevators were broken. The Cabin (#7180) - Balcony: GREAT: Beautiful decor with lots of drawers, big closet and lots of hangers and space. The bathroom is beautiful with lots of counter space. The shower was roomy with a clothes line on the top of the shower entrance. The fixtures are shiny and new with great water pressure (surprising!) The balcony was great. The furniture was good quality and sturdy which made being on the deck very enjoyable. If you can, a cabin with a balcony is a must :) The bed and pillows were comfortable. NOT SO GREAT: The cabin was a bit tight and small. Dining: GREAT: The Trellis (main dining room) was nicely decorated. NOT SO GREAT: The tables were a bit close together. We were at a 6 person table and some parts were really close to the next table and the servers had to squeeze. We also noticed that some of the 2 people tables were REALLY close together so they might as well be sitting together! THE BIG DISAPPOINTMENT: We booked this cruise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had told our travel agent and she made certain that it was passed on to Celebrity. Well, the cruise line FORGOT and we spent the week with NO celebration at dinner. When we approached guest relations to tell them, they hardly paid us any attention and blamed it on our travel agent for not telling them. We just told our agent and she spoke to Celebrity. They offered us $50 ship board credit for our NEXT cruise with them and this offer expires IN ONE YEAR. I'm sorry, but we don't have money to take another cruise for a while! We scrimped and saved to go on this cruise for our 25th anniversary. And what's the point if we have to go to them and say, "hey, where's our 25th anniversary celebration?" Read Less

We have been cruising for over 35 years. This past cruise with Celebrity on the Infinity put a damper on cruising with Celebrity. We have cruised on both the Infinity and Millenium before and was the main reason we chose the Infinity. We chose the coastal cruise because we live in Vancouver and because we loved the Infinity. We loved the excellent dining room service, but the food was lacking, of the 6 meals we had, 3 I would consider acceptable, the other 3 were very good. Qsine lived up to its reputation and was excellent . The shows were okay, nothing worth writing home about. The Martini bar was the central point of three deck because of its location in the atrium, the sound of cackling drunks was not pleasant when you are trying to have a quiet after dinner drink or cappuccino. There was a lack of piano bars that were open at the right times. Celebrity is definitely cutting corners, it is obvious and passengers we talked to all agree, many said it is time to change, many said never Celebrity again, it is sad that this is happening. We sail on Princess, Azamara, and Holland America. Azamara we love for Europe, Princess and H.A. for local, Alaska, Coastal, and Mexico. Celebrity is now off our list. Oh, do not get a cabin with adjoining door, you can hear every sound your neighbour makes, fortunate for us they were close friends and we could laugh about it. Read Less

Our cruise started off on the wrong foot during the lifeboat drill. Several elderly passengers were in our group, which our muster point was the photo viewing area. We were told to line up 5 deep close together. One elderly man accompanying his wife who was walking with a cane asked the young man in charge of our group how long the drill would take and was told, "how ever long it takes for everyone to follow directions and get in line." He asked for a chair for his wife and was told none were available during the drill and the gentleman pointed to another group whose muster point was in the lounge and said, "but they have chairs and can sit." The Celebrity employee rolled his eyes and that pretty much set the tone of the entire trip. We were in stateroom 9068 having selected an Aqua Class Balcony. The first day the room was okay. On the second day there was a slight sewage smell, but this was overtaken by a powerful different smell. On day two we returned to the ship, stepped into the hallway and were greeted by a could and overwhelming chemical smell. You literally could not see past two cabin doors, they were spraying a disinfectant. We, along with other passengers were all hacking and coughing, Celebrity stated this was a standard cleaning procedure to spray the ship in this manner. The employees had respirators on, we did not. By day three the sewage smell was overwhelming. We complained about the smell and was told they could spray something to freshen it up. The next day we noticed the carpet was completely soaked. We complained and were told in Aqua Class, the tiles in the shower can become broken allowing water under the floor. We noticed the bathroom floor had broken tiles that when stepped on, water would squirt through. We were told they knew this was an issue, they would dry the floor so they brought in someone to fix the tiles and dry the floor. The other possibility mentioned was shifting and broken drains, I am horrified it may be sewage, but there were no answers, only changing stories. The maintenance guy comes in and the tiles are "fixed" in less than 5 minutes. Then the drying blowers were brought in which succeeded in super blasting the stench around the room. The next morning the floors were soaked again and we did not use the shower. At this point we moved to another room that was not Aqua Class, and the bathroom floor had broken tiles as well that when stepped on water would squirt through. The new bathroom smelled like rotten potatoes instead of sewage so it was an upgrade. The balcony on the replacement room had a pipe coming down the outside wall that leaked goo that resembled and smelled like spoiled milk. We were told by guest relations this was a known issue with the ship and nothing could be done...so Celebrity is charging people for an Aqua Class room knowing this is an ongoing problem that is not being fixed. For all the issues we were given $150 certificate toward a future full priced cruise. No concession was given for the fact we were in Aqua Class but moved to a lower level of room. As for other reviews, they are accurate, the ship's main dining room is completely understaffed and overwhelmed. Servers can't be friendly, they are too busy running back and forth. We felt truly bad for them and did not complain about cold food and missing items. Qsine was well done and the service there was outstanding. As for documentation procedures, the staff is clueless and several people were upset over incorrect customs information. The ship did not manage to dock on time at any port. It was always an hour or so later than the published time for people to be able to get off the ship causing several people to miss activities they had prebooked so be sure to account for this when making plans. The one great thing about the ship was the kids program. The main dining room was so overburdened we ate several diners at the Oceanview Cafe. My husband's parents were traveling with us and could not eat with us at Blu because they did not book Aqua Class (thank goodness with all the issues). At Oceanview Cafe we ended up sitting near the Adventure Oceans participants who were cared for by the most unbelievable lady who reminded me of a British style nanny with a big umbrella. So there were six kids each time, the lady in charge and an assistant. The food for the kids was set up at a little group of tables in stainless steel serving trays. The kids would be led in, seated and then the leader and assistant would don gloves and plate the children's food. Once the kids finished eating they were given a small treat. The interaction with the kids was absolutely amazing, it's everything a parent would want in someone taking care of their child. Where Celebrity found this gem, I do not know, but she was a case study on how kids should be cared for by someone other than their parents. Truly outstanding, even when dealing with that "one kid" who always has to be a clown and will not sit still. And the kids were having a great time and on the last night they were all saying how sad they were it was their last night and how much they would miss the leaders. Although we didn't have kids on this cruise, at least Celebrity seems to have gotten that part right. Overall, I would take a hard look at Celebrity, I was so disappointed the known issues were not addressed and the next guests in those rooms won't have any different experience. They can't fix the issue until dry dock so rather than taking the rooms out of service, they just let guests deal with the stink. Read Less

Choose this cruise based on previous experiences with Celebrity plus ports. It was a mistake, This was he most disorganized, poorly managed ship I have sailed on. My mistake, don't cruise this far north this early in the year. It was freezing! Also don't cruise out of San Diego, their port facilities are completely inadequate. We wound up eating in the buffet most meals, due to the low quality of the food in the restaurant. In the be buffet: We wound up eating in the buffet most meals, due to the low quality of the food in the restaurant. In the be buffet: The quality of the food was the poorest on any Celebrity ship I have sailed on. Most of my cruises are on Princess, I used to tell people that one of the main advantages of Celebrity was the quality of the food. I no longer will say that. See the pictures for an example of the poor cuisine available in the buffet. If you are glucose intolerant,. there is a specially marked section for you. If you want no sugar, there may be one or two items, IF YOU ASK, that are NSA. After several complaints, they started labeling the NSA items. Change from breakfast to lunch should be Done an island at a time, not in mass! Use real eggs for omelettes not that stupid liquid. Consistency is awful. Hamburger has too much filler and not enough meat The most appetizing item in the buffet was usually the fresh apples, sad! The management of the ship seemed to go out of their way to ignore the needs of the passengers. As an example, the doors to the Captains Party opened 10 minutes before the schedules time - despite the long line of guests!. Also they go out of their way to get your money. We had one credit card for the cabin, however, the charges were kept track of on a person bases. Therefore, since all the charges were made on my cruise card, I ended up owing money, whereas my wife should a large (non-refundable) credit! They had "Coffee" cards, where for a discount, you could get 10 deluxe coffees. However, they refused to sell or even acknowledge that they existed, until the second day of the cruise. No Luggage concierge service in Vancouver. Read Less

We are Diamond cruisers on Royal Caribbean. Therefore we were able to join Celebrity as Elite Captain Club members. So we wanted to try Celebrity to see how it compares to Royal Caribbean. We were extremely disappointed. The Celebrity Infinity has the potential to be a beautiful ship. Unfortunately it has not been properly maintained since it was launched in 2001. The ship looked drab and it never smelled fresh. The service in the dining room was the worst we have ever experienced, partly because there were not enough waiters to properly serve the guests. The food was bland, the selection was limited, especially the breads, and dinner took almost two hours every night - a real endurance contest. The buffet options were dismal - don't even think about eating any breads, pastries or donuts. We experienced raw sewer smells in our cabin on three nights which woke us from a deep sleep. Our cabin steward was one of the nicest stewards we have encountered. Our cabin was very nice, though dated and in dire need of a refurbish. We will not cruise on Celebrity again. Read Less

The itinerary of the cruise up the pacific coast to Vancouver was exactly what we wanted and in spite of a disaster on another cruise on the sister ship (Summit) we booked. From the embarkation at the port of San Diego, which was almost like a third world country port, to the embarkation in Vancouver was a tribute to total ineptitude. We had a dining room table for 11 but from the first night till the 5th nite on a10 day cruise one other couple and ourselves where the only one to actually dine. We asked repeatedly to have us moved to another smaller table but they refused.. Finally on the 8th day they moved us to another table and had another gentleman from open dining join us for the remainder of the cruise. We had booked over $1000 in excursions throughout the cruise. Each and Every one was a disaster. Misinformation, misdirection to meeting places etc.. They took us to Solvang California at 9:30 AM and the stores didn't open until 10:00AM. One excursion was scheduled for 9:30 AM and we received notice at 8: AM the same day that the cruise had been moved to 2:30PM after we had gotten up at 6:30AM in order to make the original departure time. We received so much credit back for complaints that we had enough to buy a new iPad and pay for a medical visit to the ships Dr. The Summit and the Infinity had noted they were refurbished recently but the Summit had spots and stains all over the upholstery in the Dining room and rust everywhere on both ships. They did update the area they added for the Blu Restaurant and the Aquaclass rooms but the rest were sorely neglected. Us plebians deserve some perks too!!!!! When we had to "tender"in several ports, I was almost afraid to get on the tender because of their poor condition and filthy windows and rust everywhere. I know this must sound lik esour grapes but we are faithful Celebrity cruisers and enjoy their cruises. We are booked on the new Edge in February and will be taking it again on a transatlantic in 2019 with a transatlantic in the fall of 2019, so we do love Celebrity. We hope that these heralded renovations of the older ships include these two ships or they should take them our of service!!!!! Read Less

Chose primarily based on itinerary . Embarkation in San Diego was the worst and longest of any cruise taken. From what we heard ,this is a Port of San Diego issue ,not Celebrity. In general ,no real complaints. First cruise on Celebrity ,and seemed there were a large number of passengers who had multiple cruises and had status. There were more "elite/suite" areas and events than I have ever experienced. Ship was easy to navigate around. Elevators were prompt. All meals were very good. The buffet was very clean, well organized, and extensive (milk could have been colder). We enjoyed the Spa Cafe for healthy lunches. We did celebrity Select dinner seating and never had an issue. The only port /excursion complaint was that trip to Muir Woods was cancelled with no prior notification. Exercise ares was great ,although TV could have been better. Service overall great. This was our 34 cruise since 1991 and the third on Celebrity. To say it was a disappointment would be and understatement. The food which is why everyone cruises was in the poor category. They have now come up with new names for items on the menu but the food overall in tasteless and unappealing. For the first 3 nights there were very few wines to choose from as they were out of most items on the menu. There were 4 nights in a row where there was some type of chicken rollatini on the menu. Now on the left side of the dinner menu they have steaks and lobster available for an up-charge from $17 to $32 if you do not like the evenings offerings. The specialty restaurants have similar food to the dining room just larger portions for an additional charge of $45 to $50 per person. We had dinner in the Tuscan restaurant where we expected a generous shrimp cocktail and steak for dinner but now go. We had fish that was tasteless and very poor service. The ship was not well cleaned or maintained. There were chairs with the stuffing coming out and the wooden arms heavily scared. The tables in the Ocean View Cafe (buffet) were constructed with a poor edging that was encrusted with dirt and grime. We pointed this out to the staff and they said they cleaned it but is wasn't during our cruise. The prices of items you normally purchase were very high also, A liter of water was $5.50 and a can of coke was $5.00, both with an additional 18% tip, just outrageous. Overall the service was less than average. We will never cruise on Celebrity again. Read Less
