Loved the rooftop garden with film in afternoon. Eden was our favourite bar for pre dinner drinks Oliver the bar attendant was great. Also loved breakfast outside of Oceanview Restaurant. Shops way out of our price range. Lovely cruise despite being diverted and change to ports due to bad weather over Greek Islands but Captain Kate and her team went to great lengths to get us into ports. Santorini was a nightmare 4 large ships and a smaller one in port. Island was packed and no organisation with the queues for cable car and became very dangerous especially getting off no handrails. We witnessed 2 accidents. Definitely not for disabled or people with difficulties walking. Enjoyed the ship and cruise but would go for a balcony cabin in future not infinite for me but other people we spoke to liked it. Read Less

We chose this cruise, when on another, for an itinerary to places we hadn’t been to and to see the fall. We then realised that we were too early for the fall colours but decided to stick with it and then do a drive round New England after. Summit has been refurbished and although we had not sailed on her we had sailed all 3 of her sister ships and on tour last, on Connie! We thought she was looking very tired. So the refresh is looking good, much lighter in the public rooms and the staterooms. I do wonder how long it will last, in places it seems like just a coat of paint and some new furniture. But overall we liked it. Staff service is still good, at lunch times the main restaurant seemed a little slower than we’d like, but in Blu where we ate breakfast and dinner it’s still excellent. We liked the itinerary, although this it was unfortunate on our first day in Quebec there were 6 other ships in. Quebec can’t cope with that many! PEI was the least interesting port of call. We got the feeling the residents didn’t want ships whereas on all the other ports, people seemed very welcoming. Read Less

Traveled with my wife, two daughters (in their 20s), their boyfriends and one of his daughters (9) on the Celebrity Eclipse departing July 7 returning July 14 round trip from Vancouver. We stayed in Vancouver at JW Marriott Parque for three nights prior to the Sunday departure. We had two full days in Vancouver. I woke up first thing in the morning and walked to the Canada Place Cruise Terminal to watch a HAL ship dock, walked back to the hotel and met up with the family. We did the Capilano River Regional Park (recommended), and then Gas Town. Had lunch at a restaurant named Local-ok. My wife and I had dinner at Provence Marinaside-excellent and enjoyed tasting many different BC wines. They are able to draw a glass or taste out of any bottle with a syringe and nitrogen. Following day went to Granville Island by Ferry (recommended) and then the Science Place (I have aged out of this attraction but interesting and more suited for young children. Dinner with everyone at Floata in China Town-food was excellent but ambiance was like being in the twilight zone. It is on the third floor of a mostly empty shopping center and it appears more like a banquet hall than a restaurant. The food made up for the atmosphere. Great Dim Sum and Peking Duck. That night, hung out at a bar on a 6th floor terrace-Paul McCartney was in concert next door, so we listened to the end and the encore while we enjoyed our nigh caps. Embarkation day my wife and I went to Mass at the Holy Rosary Cathedral and returned to the hotel to meet the kids et al and catch a private transfer to the terminal. I arranged the transfer through the concierge in a micro bus, rather than hail 3 cabs. There is no Uber et al in Vancouver. We arrived about 12:45 pm at the terminal and it was not too crowded. My wife and I were in a suite, so we all breezed through except for the bottleneck and US ICE. It took, about 30 minutes to clear. Once on the other side, we were met by a greeter and escorted on board and to our cabins. My wife and I were in RS 1612 and the children were in connecting Veranda staterooms 9233-9255. Suite was awesome, so was the butler and the steward. It was really nice to have the living area for congregations. First night we all dined at Luminae. Excellent food and service. Better quality wines than MDR. We did pay for our children to join us, but it was worth the price for the wines. There are higher quality wines not on the menu and you do not pay any up charges. First day at sea we explored and ate lunch at Sushi on 5-Lobster R amen highly recommended. Dinner at Muranos (excellent). Second day was Sitka. We watched the arrival from the Helicopter pad. I have been to Sitka many times before (cruises and fishing). So my wife and mostly walked, shopped, and did walk through the Historic Park. You now shuttle to town from a cruise dock located about 10 miles north. Last time I was in Sitka on a cruise, it was a tender. Kids did excursions. Third day was Hubbard Glacier-breathtaking. We catered a lunch in our cabin (sushi, salads, apps, and roast beef sandwiches). Very cool to entertain in your suite with a Glacier in the background. There was an excursion for an up and close view of the Glacier, in hindsight this would have been a very cool excursion. Next day was Junea. I hired a cab from the taxi line for a morning tour and we went to Mendenhal, the Arboretum and the Tram. Highly recommend all and the cab kept us away from the crowds. We had a late lunch of crab and Tracey's (recommended), shopped and then a drink at the Red Dog Saloon (must see). Dinner that night was MDR. Next day was Ketchikan were my wife and I went Zip lining. Good excursion but in hind sight on a short port day, I rather would have explored Ketchikan. My wife's advise is to book the excursions on longer port days, so you also have time to explore. Dinner was at Tuscan. Highlight was the appetizers. I order an upcharged NY Strip-flavor was good but the texture was mushy (think more short rib than steak). Stick to the apps and Italian offerings. Next day was at Sea with lunch at Sushi 5 and dinner at Luminae. We did the ship's tour which was very cool. My daughter won a bingo while playing our cards. I told her I would split the winnings, so I used my half to spread some love to the crew who had taken care of us so well the prior week. Embarkation is painless in suite class. My wife and I bar hopped the prior evening while our butler packed for us. So we just went to bed, woke up about 8:00, was at Michael's Club by 9:00, and hung out until after the last boarding group was called. We were escorted off the Ship through Customs. Two of our party disembarked first thing in the am to catch a flight home by 12:20 pm, they made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare in a cab. The remaining group needed a large Taxi, so we had to wait about 25 minutes for them to procure one. We stayed at the Westin Grand (JW was nicer but the service was very good). We went to church, had Pho and then went to the Maritime Museum with dinner at Granville Island. We walked home (doable but about an hour) and had Gelato as a reward. To bed for early return Passage home was unremarkable except for realizing we needed a duffel to fit our dirty clothes with the original space in our suitcases displaced by our purchases. Went downstairs at 6:30 am to inquire as to procuring luggage on an early Monday in downtown Vancouver from the bellman. The Concierge overheard my conversation, told me to sit tight, and procured me a large hard suit case from housekeeping that was left by another guest. Returned to my room, insured the lack of contraband in said suit case, and from leaving the hotel to sitting in the Maple Leaf Lounge was one hour. Every night was saw a show which we enjoyed. We also enjoyed Milos (a naturalist lector), the various live music and the silent disco. The ship is impeccable and so is the service. 95% of our food was delicious. I highly recommend the suite experience for two main reasons, first, you get to cut in line for everything and second you have free reign of the restaurants. My only expenses on the ship was inviting my kids plus to dinner, two excursions and the terrible steak. I did have some trepidation about a mass market ship but it exceeded my expectations and we reserved a cruise from Ireland to Iceland on Celebrity for next summer. The Ship itself is beautiful and well laid out. Time passed to quickly while on this cruise. I didn't even have time to visit the Casino other than 45 minutes of Blackjack showing my daughters how to play. My wife and I cruise with Crystal over Thanksgiving leaving from Miami. I will write a comparison then, but Celebrity is a great cruise for families in that my wife and I were abler to enjoy a Crystal like experience, while my kids enjoyed the plethora of activities available. Cons - Buffet area was way too crowded for breakfast and lunch and it was hard to walk without bumping into people nearly everyday. Dining in Silhouette was also very crowded and dinner took a full 2 hours and staff seemed like it was struggling to keep up. Outside pool also extremely crowded. Also, 4 and 5 year old kids at the bars 11pm at night. And lastly, the cost for internet was really high, they were asking $28.00 just to buy 5 minutes of internet time to print out my plane tickets. Oh, and no towel animals. What the heck. Pros - Embarkation and debarkation were incredibly fast. Staff was very friendly. Service was Spectacular / Excellent overall and the staff worked really hard and deserve a lot of credit. Ship was also absolutely stunning - the furniture, the decor, the art gallery, everything was just so beautifully done. I had the standard balcony cabin on the 7th floor and it was also Amazing. Also noticed new changes this year - beach towels in cabin, new pillows, bath robes, and the mattress was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud! We were also lucky in that we had nice weather, smooth seas, and the ocean breeze / Caribbean air at night was just perfect. In addition, the ship was incredibly clean - you saw a lot of staff cleaning / up-keeping the ship which was good. Our cabin was cleaned twice a day and our room attendant did an amazing job. The public bathrooms were also the cleanest I've ever seen in my entire life and I've been on a lot of cruises. Also, the hand towels in the public restrooms is a great idea. In addition, the entertainment was really excellent. Comedian Billy Garan and Jimmy Carol were a 10 out of 10. And the show "Topper" was great with the dancers in the artistic costumes and beautiful set design. The music throughout the ship was also good and there was LOTS of it - lots of musical shows in the theater, bands / singers at the pool and bars often and singers / band in the grand foyer every night and for the 4th of July party and the Great Gatsby party. There were also a lot more activities on the ship from when I went last year. Also,our cruise director Martin, was the BEST EVER - funny, entertaining, great party host, and he explained things very well. He was an A++ In addition, his dancing elevator scheme was very funny in how he caught passengers off guard in the elevator during the Great Gatsby party, and made them dance to get to their floor. The Food was u n b e l i e v a b l e. The quality and variety of food at the buffet was Astounding. Ribeye steak cooked to order one night. . as well as calamari, oxtail, chicken pot pie, and all kinds of fancy fish, pork, chicken and beef dishes. Many times the meat was so tender you could cut it with a spoon. Buffet desserts were also epic especially the german chocolate cake, the vanilla cannolis, and the butter cakes. And in the main dining room Silhouette, Superb new york sirloin steak, rack of lamb, shrimp scampi, creme brulee, strawberry cheesecake, and baked alaska. The mixed drinks were also made to perfection and the specialty coffee / espresso at Cafe Al Bacio was really good. Ports - ALL FABULOUS - Costa Maya was my favorite - took the short tram / taxi ride to Mahahaul beach which is the most beautiful beach I've ever been too - crystal clear warm water and no waves and palm trees that come right up to the water. Plus a great boardwalk with shops and cute cafes. However, did not like seeing all the homeless dogs not being cared for by locals and I had to buy them food / clean water for them. Bucket list cruise that fulfilled all expectations. Visited Icy Strait Point, Juneau and Ketchikan. Not forgetting the amazing Hubbard Glacier. Saw so much wildlife including a brown bear who came within 15ft of us. Too many experiences to list. Took tours through Celebrity. Booked them online before we sailed which was much cheaper. All the tours were excellent. See below for cabin reviews. Blu restaurant food was excellent although the service could be very hit and miss. The Oceanview Restaurant always delivers excellent food although i felt that cleanliness of the tables could have been better. Dined in Le Petit Cuisine which was excellent. This is a must visit especially with children. The Cocktail Bar is a lot of fun and the measures very generous! Only went to one show this time which was ok. Made the most of the stunning sunsets from the Sunset Bar. Would highly recommend this cruise, certainly the top one we have done. Read Less

Itinerary and time of year were good. The ship itself was clean and the staff were lovely. Our butler was fantastic. The sky suite however - not acceptable. We've sailed with Celebrity 3 times and all were on S class (just so you know I'm comparing apples to apples) The loveseat was filthy. Stains that should have been cleaned long ago and if not possible, replace the loveseat. It makes one wonder about sanitation. The top sheet on the bed was frayed every day. Granted, the part that's tucked into the bed, but I sleep with the sheets pulled out and that's how I saw their condition. Clean, yes. But frayed. There is also something in the bath water, or the cleaning supplies used in the tub because I broke out in a rash everywhere the bathwater touched. This is the 2nd year in a row on the same ship. So I started using the bottled water for my face and neck and presto - no rash. Of course, I can't bathe in bottled water, nor do I really know if it's a water problem or a detergent, but something's not right. Read Less

We have cruised with Celebrity on five previous occasions and have enjoyed every one, however this particular cruise experience was very dissapointing. The Cruise itinerary and ports visited were good but the on board experience was very disappointing. The biggest problem was food quality and choice. The ocean view cafe and the main restaurant was absolutely appalling. The constant sales push to dine in one of the specialty restaurants was way over the top and became extremely annoying. It seems the constant pushing of the specialty restaurants coincided with the drop in food quality in the free/included restaurants. The gym staff were extremely arrogant and unhelpful. The senior staff and officers were generally invisible but if you did run across them they where arrogant and very aloof. The only redeeming Feature was the junior staff. The wait staff in general were very good, the standouts were the cafe al bacio, ensemble lounge, Sushi on five and the international bar, the best of all was our stateroom attendant in fact he was the best attendant that we have had so far. I have complained to Celebrity but as you would expect there has been no response. The experience was so bad we will not use Celebrity again! Read Less

Selected it because it was a ten night with more ports! Sitka, ketchikan, juneau, skagway, icy strait point, victoria and Dawes glacier. Eclipse is a beautiful ship, the entertainment was excellent and of course luminae was great. Michaels club on this ship has a small bar and lacked the interaction with the bartenders and other cruisers as compared to solstice and reflection. This particular cruise included longer times in each port which made the experience more relaxing. Alejandro the cruise director was funny and had the cruise packed with top notch entertainment in the theater. Also, the naturalist, Milos was a real treat and full of information about the geography and animals in the area. When we were finished shopping in juneau we stopped in the mini post office and packed everything in a if if fits it ships box. For twenty bucks we avoided the hassles of possibly having over weight luggage on the way home. Read Less

I'll start this review as I have started all of my previous ones, with a bit of an introduction: My wife and I do 2-3 cruises a year, nearly all of them with Celebrity. We are 30 & 26 years old respectively, and have sailed the Caribbean a half-dozen times. I will be writing this with the target audience of "First Timers" and will hope to shed some light on what we enjoy, and don't enjoy about cruising with Celebrity, and on the beautiful Equinox. Why this cruise? My wife is a school teacher, so we take a 7 day cruise every year on her Spring Break. We don't have bitter winters here in Central Alabama, but the end of March is the perfect time to hop down into the beautiful weather that the Caribbean offers year-round. We started off cruising Carnival years ago, but ultimately made the jump to Celebrity as we wanted something more sophisticated and relaxing. We don't like to be charged for every single item on a cruise, so we love that Celebrity allows us to go for the "all inclusive" package. We book through a wonderful Travel Agent who only does cruises. We went on board with a drink package, prepaid tips (paid by TA), and $450 on board credit. With Celebrity, the OBC can be used to book excursions, specialty restaurants, on board shopping, or virtually anything else you buy on board. Frankly, its one of the main reasons we sail with Celebrity. All in all, we got a beautiful Concierge Class Balcony and all the perks for well under $3000 for the entire trip. We brought about $500 US in cash for port spending and tipping on board.We have found that, with all of the inclusions, its really hard to beat Celebrity on price. Add in the service and the wonderful food, and its a no-brainer for us. We also have been fortunate enough to have my parents join us for each of the last three spring break cruises. Its wonderful to be on any cruise ship, but even better when you can spend the time with family. My parents being older, do not want a "party cruise". Celebrity offers a wonderful atmosphere that allows everyone to have a great time but not at the expense of others. The Equinox: After having sailed on her twice, it comes as zero surprise that the Equinox wins "Best Overall" on CruiseCritic every year. Its a beautiful ship with a very user friendly layout. At 121k GT, it sits right in the happy medium of cruise ships in terms of size. There is plenty to do, plenty of room, and yet still small enough to be able to get comfortable with the entire ship over the course of 7 short days. Our two favorite areas of the ship are the sundeck and the main atrium. Both are absolutely stunning whether it is day or night. Decks 3-6 are where all the magic happens. Bars surround the atrium on all sides but they are presented in a way that is very classy and doesn't ever feel crowded. The four main bars that we frequent are all very different in design and styles, and they are spread out in a way that no place ever feels particularly crowded. The martini bar and the Gastropub are opposite each other from the atrium. One serves decadent martinis in dozens of flavors and all is served in a beautiful lounge and a solid ice bar top. The Gastropub has the feel of a rustic craft beer bar that has an awesome selection of beers from around the world. This bar has ESPN running on TVs so it was crowded while the NCAA basketball tournament was going. The World Class bar is a really cool bar near the art gallery and shops. This bar has two "mixologist" that are expert beverage makers. I go here to experiment and try new drinks that I may not have tried otherwise. This requires the premium drink package, but you can literally tell them you like whisky, citrus, and sweet drinks and they will come up with something you've never tried before. Its a wonderful place to hang out before dinner or after shows, especially if your wife enjoys shopping as much as mine does! This last bar is my personal favorite: The Sunset Bar. Its an outdoor bar that is open from morning til late at night. It is at the top of the boat and at the aft, so the breeze and views are breathtaking. The Equinox, like all Solstice class ships, are covered in real grass on the aft 1/3 of the top deck. Its something extremely unique about Celebrity and its really neat to be in the middle of the ocean and have grass between your toes. All in all, its a wonderfully balanced ship. Its large enough for there to be plenty of options in how you spend your days, but small enough to still feel intimate. Captain Kate Mccue: Oh Captain, My Captain! I'll admit I was a skeptic at first. Not that I thought she was a bad Captain, but I didn't believe a Captain could have a significant impact on a cruise vacation. Most Captains that I have sailed with are only worried about doing their jobs, getting us to and from our destinations safely, and they allow the entertainers and the service staff to provide us a good time. And while that is completely fine, Captain Kate is amazing! Her personality infects the entire ship and everyone stops what they are doing when she speaks over the PA. She is an awesome Captain, and every single bit as good as she is advertised. I cannot say enough how impressed I am with her, other than it would be a mistake for Celebrity to ever let her go! Stateroom: Concierge Cabin (C2) Room 1249. The stateroom is the same as any veranda on the ship outside of Suites, but this cabin does offer a unique feature that only a few cabins on the entire ship offer... a larger balcony. The Equinox has a few "bump outs" or "humps" in her design that cause a few of the cabins on each floor "bulge" out a few feet. At the angles of these "bumps" you get a slanted balcony. From the nearest corner, it is no smaller than any other balcony on the ship, but at its widest, its nearly twice as long. Our deck chairs came with ottomans and the chairs reclined enough that we effectively had loungers on our balconies. We didn't get quite the breeze off the balcony due to where we were, but the extra balcony space will be missed on the cruises that we dont have it. Room layout is spacious enough for a cruise cabin, our bed was near the balcony compared to others that are near the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, its about average in size if you are used to balcony rooms. The shower has simple but elegant sliding glass door that doesn't waste any space. In concierge class we had access to slightly better bathroom toiletries and cosmetics. My wife didn't seem particularly impressed with the shampoo, but there could have been other factors that led to that. Dining: In this section is where we found the best and worst that our particular vacation had to offer. We went into this cruise knowing we would be doing a night or two in specialty dining, specifically Murano. I'll dive into the specialty restaurants in a bit, but lets get the not-so-pleasant out of the way. Please understand that we have never had an issue in the Main Dining Room. Celebrity does dining very well, and I'd even argue that it is one of their strengths. This time, we just weren't impressed. My wife, myself, and my parents got sat at a very nice four top. The MDR is crowded as it is on all ships, so that didn't bother us. We had a very nice and attentive head waiter, and the food both nights that we dined there was excellent. The bar/drink service however, was severely lacking. My father and I managed to get our wine quickly enough usually, but my wife and mother waited 15-30 minutes for their bar drinks every time they ordered. It became such an issue that our poor head waiter would go off running to get the drinks himself. This isn't a major issue, I am aware of that, but I expect more from Celebrity. After two identical services with the identical problems we called our Concierge (perk of concierge class) and told her about the issue and she asked if she could inform the Maitre'D. Literally 5 minutes later the Maitre'D had ran up to our rooms to apologize, hear our feedback, and promised to improve the service going forward. People, this is what makes Celebrity different. There are 3000 people eating dinner in his beautiful dining room, and he stopped mid-service to run up to our room to personally apologize and ask how to fix it. The next day we got back from a day at port and my parents and I each had a bottle of nice champagne from the Maitre'D, it was a wonderful gesture and we were impressed. Now as it turned out, we had a reservation at the famous Murano that evening. When we left Murano we were so blown away that we called our Concierge and asked her to book us in specialty dining for the remainder of the cruise. These restaurants are not free, nor cheap, but our concierge got us 20-40% off the listed price each night we dined in a specialty restaurant. So, in the end we never got to go back in the MDR, but I am convinced that the issues would have been fixed. Murano If you do one thing on a Celebrity Cruise, eat dinner at Murano. The first night of the cruise they offer it at a discount if you book ahead of time. My father and I are "foodies" and love fine dining. We both agreed that the Murano dinner service and quality of food is an experience that would be incredible even if it weren't on a cruise ship. Every single aspect, from the bread to the Grand Marnier Souffle is perfect. Lobster Murano is a top 5 dish that I have ever experiences and is cooked table side with everything from bacon, to lobster cooked in a cognac mustard creme sauce. We were so impressed that we booked it for every remaining night of the cruise that we could. One night they were fully booked, so we tried Tuscan Grille. It was very good, but with it being a for-fee Italian steakhouse, we left miserably full compared to the lighter and more elegant Murano. Entertainment & Activities This will be rather short as we did not attend any of the main productions in the theater. Celebrity keeps the same shows for 3-5 years before cycling them out, with us sailing on the Equinox as frequently as we do, there weren't any that we hadn't already seen. We did however attend the comedy shows and watch a lot of live music. The comedian was great and the house band was excellent as well. Celebrity offers other activities like bingo, concerts, seminars, and workshops that many find to be fantastic. Admittedly we mainly go find somewhere quiet near a bar, as we are both young and always seem to be around crowds on land, we enjoy a more laid back experience on the boat. Service With the exception of the MDR, which I consider a fluke rather than a flaw, service is impeccable on Celebrity. Tipping is a hot topic on any cruise forum, but I can definitively say that when I hand a bartender or my room steward a $10/$20 bill on the first day, they take care of my wife and I the rest of the voyage. I personally try to find a specific bartender in my most regular bars and tip heavy on days 1/2. I tip $1 a drink the remainder of the time and I am having another drink brought to me before the first one is finished. Celebrity has a wonderful staff and an underappreciated staff/guest ratio. I think the reason they named it "Celebrity Cruises" is because of how they want each and every guest to feel. It really is what makes them so special. Cafe Al Bacio: I couldn't figure out the best place to include this place in any of my previous sections, so I ultimately decided that it needed its own. Bacio is arguably the most loved place on the ship. They are a full service coffee & dessert bar that is open all day. In the morning people are getting their day started with anything from a cappuccino to a cup of decaf, and late at night every table is full with people winding down in the low light setting of an old city jazz bar. The live music from the atrium fills the bar and its just a super unique place to relax and enjoy yourselves. It sounds so simple and quaint, but I am amazed that every cruise ship in the world doesn't mimic this place into their own. Ports & Excursions: We loved every port we stopped at. We are very familiar with the Western Caribbean so only Key West was a first time port for us. Everyone has different interests at respective ports, so I will just tell you what we do every time and you look for more information if you wish. Key West: We wandered on our own, Key West isnt a large town and most of the cool stuff is near the ship. There are tours galore and a really neat aquarium nearby. Grab you a piece of Key Lime Pie and a Conch Fritter and enjoy your first stop of the cruise! Grand Cayman: 7 Mile Beach at Calico Jacks. You go to this beach for the water as it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. CJ's is great, but very crowded. Costa Maya: New favorite port in the Western Caribbean. The port itself is a maze, but very very beautiful. We find our way out and go to Maya Chan Beach Resort every chance we get. Check it out, its the epitome of a relaxing beach day. Cozumel: I have an answer to the famous Sancho's vs Nochi debate... Sancho's is the best! All inclusive, wonderful service, and a beautiful (safe) beach. We go every time we are in Cozumel and have no plans of changing! In Conclusion: My wife and I fell in love with cruising on our honeymoon and have been blessed to go one more than most our age. Celebrity is a perfect fit for what we want to do and how we want to spend our time on the boat. Its generally an older crowd, but we cruise like "older people". We have 2 more cruises currently booked with Celebrity, and 81 days cannot get here soon enough! Read Less

Very disappointing treatment of someone sustaining a serious injury on the ship due to their negligence. Poor medical treatment. Poor follow up from Guest relations until I conveyed my concerns to them that I felt dismissed. My holiday was ruined for myself and my partner and ship's response was more 'out of sight, out of mind'. The ship is beautiful, restaurants are good. The ship certainly has style decoratively and never feels overwhelmingly large or oppressive. Delightful cosy corners and cafes can be discovered everywhere around the ship which is generally well appointed for most things you need. Cellar bar terribly under utlised and such a shame as it's a delightful space. Packages are worthwhile. However we had a luxury drinks package and there was no Evian water available as this wasn't stocked in error at the port therefore we were only supplied with the usual bottled water. In addition every time I asked for grapefruit juice I was given orange on our cabin breakfast order. I was advised there was none? This was untrue, I discovered different food / beverage outlets don't share, possibly due to their accounting and stock management, none the less it is frustrating. General treatment of anyone injured in my experience disgusting, of course this has negatively influenced my entire experience which for me was very sad. I now look forward to surgery to repair my hand having returned home. Shame on Celebrity also for not advising passengers when they have a concierge class cabin in the corridor under the cafe that there is noise and obstructed views from the balcony, including poor maintenance and peeling paint onto it. Of course my cruise was tainted due to the fractures I sustained and a badly bruised bottom, both of which effected and still effect all my activities of daily living. However, I also believe it exposed some huge deficits in their service delivery, professionalism and ability to know how to effectively deal with challenging circumstances. In the words of a guest relations team member "most of the crew are young and inexperienced, they just don't know how to behave" and in the words of the concierge representative "there is a hierarchy on board the ship and you can't just talk to anybody" . Our dining experiences were good, all food and beverage outlets provided great service and friendly, attentive staff. Cabin once we relocated was a good size and well provisioned, cabin steward was excellent, Imade thankyou. I used the gym once prior to my injury and it is well equipped. Theatre shows were average by comparison to other cruise ships we have been on. Around the ship there was as usual plenty of activities available and something for everyone throughout the day, although almost non existent on port days, which if you remained on the ship could be a bit boring, although there is always the spa. I had a couple of treatments in the spa and visited the salon for a barber shave and haircut as due to my injury I couldn't shave and needed all my hair cut off. Both experiences were very good. Rio shore excursions were excellent, the remainder advertised appeared less so. We visited Buzios and Santos also. Shore excursions were well organised however. Cabin breakfast was generally served incorrectly and / or tepid, also around 20 minutes earlier on average than the time booked (because it suited them to do so I suspect based on the volume of orders, not satisfactory though). Laundry service was poor, always came back later than should have and we had to chase this up with cabin steward, also items should have been ironed and were apparently but quality was abismal. In fact we had them all done again at the hotel we booked into post cruise. I wouldn't recommend laundry use. This ship is more crew centric than customer centric, be warned, I wish I had been. They NEVER said that to us on board. They smelled the horrible odor. Now they are just calling me a liar. This was our 8th cruise with Celebrity and to say I am disappointed with their handling is an understatement. Post cruise, I sent a letter to Celebrity. After 2 weeks, I followed up with a call. Now they say that nobody else has reported this in sailings before or after ours. Yet who knows when they would have gotten to my email - let alone anyone before or after us who may have sent them feedback in the same manner. There were a multitude of other issues with the ship. We paid $300 for a cabana for our family on the last sea day. The front cabana is horrible. The wind was like you were sitting in a hurricane. I looked up at the ceiling just forward of where we were and there were a LOT of aluminum ceiling panels that had been ripped off. Guess they don't do any kind of wind simulations when they are designing these things. The connecting rooms are HORRIBLE. You have to pull open a heavy door, that you cannot "lock" open, and then push open the heavy door on the other room. EVERY time you want to go between the rooms. The balconies no longer attach like they did on Solstice ships. Solstice ships also had a door they could close to make a single entrance and block the 2 cabin doors open. This is a HUGE step backwards and a safety hazard and law suit waiting to happen. Read Less

arrived latish at check in, just to being sent to wrong terminal. as we had checked in online it was a simple,very quick procedure.. canny hike up the gangway to ship. as we were running late the queues had all but gone. we had a cabin on deck 10 aqua class. cabin was quite large but could have been set out differently. didn`t like the infinity balcony right from day one not the easiest thing to operate. balcony chairs were anything but comfortable, backs were too low. big comfy bed, very soft pillows not to every ones taste. sofa wasn`t comfy, little box on desk with an array of electrical outlets, 1x 110v, 1x 220v and 2 USB outlets. there were a further 2 USB outlets next to the bed. shower was very good although the shower door did foul the sink unit. towels were changed regularly. toilet tissue was VERY thin. room steward was very good. Arnel was his name. not my strong point cruising, but the food was acceptable, nobody will starve. only tried the fine cut steak house as it was $55 a person. we did get a 2for1 on second week of cruise, the only reason we went. steaks were excellent, very large portions. wine was very expensive, house wine was poor, very poor. pool area was very clean well kept and no shortage of sun beds, although there was evidence of people reserving them. plenty of towels to go round. the thing on the side "magic carpet" was a waste of time. only a small selection of beers at anyone time due to lack of storage space. it was closed several times during our cruise due to filming and private functions. my favourite bit was the casino, there is a bar attached to it. William and his staff were excellent, the service even when busy was second to none. shopping was very poor, unless you are into branded items about the "Edge". most i couldn`t even afford to window shop. internet was very expensive, although you can use the celebrity app for free. handy for checking menu`s and speciality dining, also set air-con in cabin. Personally i wouldn`t cruise on the edge again, there`s lot of things i didn`t understand, from the horse on the top deck to the petrified forest on the way to the blu restaurant. the live entertainment was not to my liking, some artistes were shockingly poor. Our second cruise aboard the Equinox and we weren’t disappointed. The staff, the food and cabins are all amazing. Captain Kate certainly leads by example and it was lovely seeing her around the ship on a daily basis. We upgraded to Aqua Class this time but to be honest we found that Concierge Class on our last sailing was just a good. We didn’t use the Persian Garden but we enjoyed Blu although the main dining room is every bit as good. The buffet was also exceptional with a great variety of food for every taste. I would not hesitate in recommending the Equinox and her itinerary and will almost certainly be Looking to sail on her again when she comes back from being revolutionised. We are booked to sail on the Constellation, Millennium and the Summit next so it will be interesting to see the difference in ships. I’m sure we won’t be disappointed. Read Less

This was my first cruise on aboard a Celebrity ship. And I love it. The quality of the instalations, decoration, services and food on Silhouette is excellent. Many islands of this itinerary are very poor so I recommend a celebrity excursion to enjoy the trip. There are good excursion offered aboard. We stayed at a corner aft suite on deck 12. It was fantastic. The suite is very large, comfortable and the varanda looking backwards great. The suite class has services, like Michaels Club and Luminae restaurant that worth the extra money. suite class can also go to Blue, the Acqua Class restaurant. Suite class also provide priority embarkation and debarkation. Everything you need abroad you can use the Michaels Club Concierge. The specialty restaurants are great - worth a visit to all of them. We went to Murano - super elegant, Qsine - amazing Petit Chef show before each course, Porch was delicious - I recommend to go for lunch to enjoy the view. Sushi on Five we loved it and is a very good option for lunch as it stays open longer than the Main Restaurant. The Lawn Club Grill is an experience, specially if you are invited to cook your own food with the chefs. The entertainment is very good also - many options all the time. Read Less

Background information-Avid single traveler, 27 cruises with Celebrity I’ve sailed 5x on Century class, 11x on Milleniun class, 11x Solstice Class, 1X Edge Class, and about 5x with other cruise lines Pre-Embarkation-Well , Well, Well, they did they truly did reinvent the wheel with the new embarkation process. Two weeks before sailing I received a few reminders encouraging me to use the newly modified Celebrity Cruises App to check in. To be perfectly frank, I didn’t have high expectations for this as I tried it last year on Reflection and it really hadn’t been helpful. In fact it had been more frustrating than helpful. I downloaded a fresh copy on my Android phone, plugged in my data, uploaded a picture. After completion I printed out a copy of the completed Expedited Arrival form, and was set. Embarkation-It was the smoothest quickest embarkation ever. Terminal 25 is lovely architecturally. That being said it was more lovely is the fact that I didn’t spend much time in it at all. I arrived by Uber at the terminal ~1130, there were two other cars at the same time. Baggage guys were everywhere, so moved my bags all of 4 feet before there was a smiling face to take them away. I said thank you, tipped him, and walked the 50 feet to the terminal. I rode the escalator up to the main part of this sleek glass and steel/aluminum modern terminal. Gone are the long lines of work stations and laptops, and instead, smiling faces with I pads greeting you with the words “Welcome to Celebrity Edge” , as I heard that at least 4 times while in the terminal. Two folks scanned my expedited arrival form. I used the one on my phone once, and the printed one once, and it made no difference, and then was directed to the Xray scanners for security which moved quickly, and 5 minutes later, I was pointed to the boarding area. I was told I would find my key on my door, which I did. So from being dropped of curbside, to arrival at my cabin, was a period of about 10 minutes. The room key was waiting at my door, was able to drop my carry on items up there and then began to explore Celebrity Edge. Ship information- When I first started exploring Edge, I noticed many transformational changes, but also seeing my old mainstays. The main lobby is visually a masterpiece. It’s a very tasteful, bright, but not in an overload your senses casino way. It’s calming and welcoming, so figured I would take a look down by guest relations. I loved what they did with the main part of the lobby. Guest Relations, Shore Excursions, and the other stations down are kind of like islands/kiosks rather than traditional desks, which gives the area a much more open flow and floor space They also have some self help ipad stations than can answer questions, and roving concierges to help the flow. For example the first day I went to guest relations the first day, and noticed 4 people queued up, so asked the concierge my question, “Do I purchase a beverage package here?” He responded that I could go to any bar and have it added there. I think in 7 nights, I went to guest relations 3X, and never waited more than 10-15 minutes. Some areas I really thought to be exceptional, others more traditional. The 4 main dining rooms were traditional just on a smaller scale. Café El Baccio same thing. Some stunning changes to the Sunset bar. Its bigger with sweeping views, it feels much more open and grand than on other ships, has a small smoking area on the starboard side, but impressed with the design aspects that allows the smoking areas smells being somewhat isolated from the rest of the sunset. I admired to that they took the eco-friendly path too. Paper straws actually to me felt better than I expected them to, actually better than plastic ones. I appreciated that when they did activities that in the past they did with pen/paper/pencil, you can now participate just using your phone/tablet/ipad, and a HUGE plus to me was didn’t receive any Art Gallery flyers (or any other flyers) announcing their sales, promotions, etc. the entire cruise. I admire that they took these steps, and not just one of them. Like we used to say in the Navy, Walk the Walk, not just Talk the Talk. The only negative was a missed seeing the one page whos/who on the ship where it states who they key executive team members are (Captain/Staff Captain/Head Chef/ GRM), and never did find a cruise directors TV channel where they summarize the day ahead and introduce you to key events things.. I wish they would just have that information available on one of the television channels. Eden-FANTASTIC. First thing I noticed about Eden was as you walk in you go through a kind of dark maze of funky sculptures that I just didn’t get, It’s interesting, but just odd, looks like something from a James Cameron Sci Fi movie. As you approach you see multi-dimensional layout, and incorporating many, many, many nooks and crannies to hideaway as much or little as you like. I LOVED the colors and designs, plants and seating area on every level, both inside and outside. Also a great little cafe inside Eden where you can go for breakfast or lunch (no upcharge either), that’s generally uncrowded. The Edenites are a unique set of characters and you could see they threw some people off base a little. They stay in character, like you might find at disney, A renaissance fair, cirque de solei, so just go in with an open mind, as it’s a different type of performance. It’s not Edie Gorme on the love boat, but it’s a lot fun if you want it/allow it to be. Really thought the design and layout of the Rooftop Garden was exceptional. The area seems very expansive and very green. Super pleased to see the massive screen that they had for watching sports and or movies under the daylight/skylight. It’s a very well designed area, as you don’t get a lot of random traffic interfering with viewing. I was a bit under impressed by the offerings at the rooftop garden grill as it seemed to lack identity on its offering. I guess it’s supposed to be BBQ, but not really sure. Pool Area-Another grand slam design. It’s a new ship with new loungers, towels, and pools, and all are well thought through. The loungers are set up in a more tiered design which makes it feel a bit more private. In the 8 days on board I used the main pool area probably 4 days, and the retreat 3 days, and never found a time where I couldn’t find an open lounger. Pool seems massive and never seemed overly crowded or noisy even on sea days. I even tried the 3 story martini glass Jacuzzi, which gave beautiful high top views of the decks below One thing very important you notice about the Edge is design. Nothing seems like a last minute “lets squeeze in a ….”, everything is in a place where it makes sense it should be. The spaces generally seem well suited for their function both in size and flow. I found a lot less dead space on the ship (like Cellar Masters, Hot Glass, World Class Bar), and less emphasis of forcing your path through the shops, casino, art galleries. Now those are a little more discreetly placed rather than being in your face, and I really appreciated that. Activities-I didn’t see a whole lot of activities on this cruise other than “Deal or No Deal” and one or two game shows, Silent Disco, Silent Disco DJ, like activities. I did think it was cool that they had creative new things like drone races in “The Club” , so I’m sure as the Edge matures so will the activities. I was mostly there for R&R, so I probably of glossed over any of the activities they had scheduled. Bars-The Martini Bar itself has much less seating than on other ships, but there are a lot more adjacent areas for seating to compensate. Same holds true on the Pool Bar. Maybe 10 seats total, but another 12 stools about 10 feet away. Looked to me that the Sunset Bar is bigger and almost gives you about 120 degrees view of the aft end of the ship. I think The Club is the most traditional larger bar onboard behind the Sunset, and the biggest venue outside the theater for traditional seating Service-Service has is and always been Celebrity’s hallmark, and this cruise was no different, if anything service excellence was even more pronounced. This could be since they took the best of the best of Celebrity’s team to man the Edge. EVERY single Edge team member I met during the 8 days went out of there way t do anything possible to make my stay better, smoother, and happier. Port & shore excursions-Didn’t do any. I left the ship once in St Maarten when my earbuds broke Shopping-Onboard shopping was too rich for my taste, Tiffany, Cartier, Bulgari Etc, someone said one shop had Edge T shirts starting $50+ SPA-Nothing New, had a 75 minute massage on a port day and it was the special 50% off rate, so with mandatory gratuity, it was $248, was it a really good massage, no not really. Art Auctions-They are there and I’m sure they sell, but research before you buy, as always found them like the casino. Don’t consider it an investment; consider it fun money that you can afford to lose. There might be a rare winner but generally if you play/buy, it will be a losing financial decision. Cabin(s)-I had two cabins on this voyage. I book the ES (Edge Single w Infinite Veranda) , and stayed there two nights , and then heard about the availability to upgrade a SS1 so moved there Edge Single Infinite VerandaCabin(ES)- Cabin 6218 100% Excellent design. It’s a modified version of a normal Infinite balcony cabin. It’s as wide as a normal cabin just not as deep. I think the actual numbers are ES=131ft2 w 40 ft2 balcony, E1,2,3,4= 200ft2 w 40ft2. First thing you notice is the bathroom, such a HUGE improvement compared to ANY other Celebrity ship. Has kind of a marble looking tile and large farm type marble sink with plenty of storage under the sink. A discreet outlet/switch can be found by the shelving under the sink area. The shelving in the bathroom is plentiful. The shower is especially large by cruise ship standards, and is glass/polished chrome design, and even is tall enough for those over 6’ tall. Inside the shower you find dispensers for body cleaner, shampoo, and conditioner. Plenty of hot water and pressure and the shower design lets you adjust height and position of spray as needed. The bed, mattress, and bedding was the most comfortable and luxurious one I’ve ever slept on. The cabin although small was very comfortable, although storage is very limited. There is a 6’x2’x2’ closet with a higher and lower bar for hanging clothes, and two shelves under the safe(~16”x20”x8”), and three 8”x*’X8” cubbies and that’s really it for storage. I ended up using the shelving in the bathroom for shirts and pants, a foot rest that opens up at the top for socks and underwear, so you just need to be a bit creative. Two easy solutions Celebrity could do is put some shelving in bottom of closet in lieu of the second bar for hanging clothes,and/ or put storage bins under the beds, since under the beds you have about 18” height, so plenty of room for storage bins AND luggage The only other negatives about the ES are, I would consider a partially obstructed view as the lifeboats sit about 1 foot above the balcony area floor, so if you look straight out it’s fine, but if you look down at all, you see the tops of lifeboats below or to the left or right. I think they would be an attractive option if they priced them more realistically. Right now they sell at ~85% of a regular Infinite Vernada cabin which I think is high considering you are getting 70% of the floorspace/storage of a regular cabin, and getting a partially obstructed view of the sea Infinite Veranda-It’s a great design, as is the cabin itself. The view is outstanding, the whole end of your cabin is glass, adds light, view, space to your cabin. The drawbacks some, are occasionally the captain can exercise control over your balcony window, sometimes coming into port, or in cases of bad weather. This happened for a few hours on our 7 days voyage, with no impact on us whatsoever. I also liked the window shade that could make the room completely dark, when fully closed. I found you needed to balance the sun coming in with the AC as the AC was not up to cooling the additional space without some adjustment. Worked much better at night with the bifold doors closed, reducing the amount of space the AC needed to cool. Two three prong 115V, one 220V two prong outlet and two usb ports on desk area, there is also an additional outlet with a pair of USB ports by the night stand. One odd thing is the addition of many hard decorative pillows, which are completely unusable. When the bed is made there are four regular pillows, five hard decorative pillows, plus two more large and small on the sofa. They look nice but really take up a lot of space with not much purpose. However, I felt the Infinite Veranda was one of the best parts of the Edge Sky Suite-The Sky Suite (SS1) Cabin 9180 seemed much more balanced than similar ones on other ships. I’ve always thought the Sky Suites on the other classes looked like regular veranda rooms with dance floors as they just seem to have a lot of dead space rather than using it to enhance the room. With these sky suites, they take it to a new level. Storage is expansive. You have a ~6’x6’ closet for all your hanging needs, you also have a second closet that has shelving. Drawers, and a safe, it stands about 6’ tall and about 2’ wide and deep. If that’s not enough, you also have a dresser that’s attached to the desk area. This dresser I’m guessing is about 5’ wide by about 3’ tall, so really makes storage abundantly available, again a superb design compared to other designs. They have a nice discreet looking white box that has two three prong 115V, one 220V two prong outlet and two usb ports, there is also an additional outlet with a pair of USB ports by the night stand, and another outlet discreetly placed in the bathroom. Bed, TV and nightstands all pretty standard, but the new linens are nice. I liked the electronic keypad for temperature and room control (drapes, lighting, etc). You can also use the Celebrity Cruises app for this, but noticed maybe 10% of the time it wasn’t available. Wasn’t really able to get the electronic key to work, I ran into the digital manager the next to last night and she mentioned it was probably something to do with my email not being linked to the key, but it wasn’t worth the trip to guest relations to get it fixed, so just used the key card instead. I thought the redesign of the Sky Suite was exceptionally good. A major improvement is the tub/shower as it’s easily stepped into, rather than in other classes you literally had to climb into it. There is no shower curtain, but because the shower head is about 2 feet inside, one is not needed. The shower head height was adjustable, so even if you’re 6’ tall or greater it works fine. I read some people complaining about without a curtain they accumulated water outside the tub area. My personal opinion is it’s possible you could do that if you weren’t paying attention, but really don’t see how it would happen on any type of normal showering. Toilet is in a separate room in bath with a frosted door around it. Sink large with two faucets. There is plenty of shelving and storage in bathroom as well. I know they are trendy now, but bathroom mirrors also slide open to form a picture frame window above the bed allowing you to bring more light into the bathroom (or for people in main space to see the tub/shower area of bathroom. I’m not a big fan of that (window to the bath from the bed) as recently saw the same thing at both Mandarin Oriental in Miami, and Four Seasons in Buenos Aries , but I’m guessing it’s a popular feature right now. For me I’d rather just keep it closed and use the mirror. The only negative I could find is that because the tub/shower opens to the bath room, the mirror does fog up easy. I know on other classes they had heated mirrors to alleviate this, it would be a good idea down the road to modify these as well. It’s a minor tweak to an almost perfect design. It’s the finest cabin I’ve ever been in at sea in terms of smart design, functionality, pure opulence, and being well thought through from the moment you walk in and look at every feature and function. The couch, balcony were comfortable, and really enjoyed the rocking chair in the room as well. Dining-Tried a few different venues, so will touch on each • Cosmopolitan-Enjoyed it, reminded me of a mini me version of the MDR on any ship. Broiled scallops appetizer especially nice. Ate here 3X • Normandie-Enjoyed it, felt like a better design, and more open than Cosmopolitan. No real standouts, but no complaints either. Ate here 1X • Buffet-Really expansive and more epicurean themed than on other cruises. They really upped their game on this. The construction and efficiency of the design is noticeably better than other classes, and really like the hand washing sinks at the entrance. I just think the warm water and soap is a much better way than purel. It was never out of towels, soap etc. Food quality of the buffet was excellent as were the station setup. First ship ever where I have seen EXCELLENT food at a buffet including filet of beef cooked to order, rack of lamb. Etc. The breakfast seem better organized with the stations set up to streamline the order and deliveryprocess. Also the larger windows in the Oceaview make a big difference, You don’t feel like you’re in a typical buffet, instead you feel you are eating in a fine dining spot…..which you are. • Luminae-The new Luminae is superb. I like that it’s at the forward end of the ship, and its own lovely venue. The menu looked to be the same as any other Luminae, but it feels so more grand. Hats off to the designers as it feels far more spacious and open, and really like the details (linens silverware, etc) and the staff makes you feel like royalty on each visit. • Prime Cut Steakhouse-First the location of Prime Cuts is super special. It’s located on deck 5, One side of the steakhouse overlooks the Ocean, the other side overlooks the martini bar, grand foyer area The restaurant itself kind of reminded me of a blending of Tuscan Grille and Murano. The rich woods and leather of Tuscan, and a balanced menu of mostly steak, but also includes lamb, sea bass, lobster, etc.. The pan seared scallops with chorizo were spectacular as was my 9 0z filet. The sides (spinach w garlic, a five mushroom sauté, and a bacon infused mac n cheese were also excellent. The double brownie with ice cream was a great way to end the meal. Service was above par • Raw on Five-Raw on Five like Prime Cuts reminded me like mentioned above as a blending of two favorites. It was part sushi on 5, part silk harvest, menu itself was about 20% raw, and 80% cooked dishes. They had a page of sushi dishes for the sushi lover (I’m not a big sushi fan), but I listened to the waiter and tried the Green Leaf Tuna Roll which was awesome. I followed that with some beef carpaccio, and then thin slices of tenderloin served with some type of sauce that really enhanced an already spectacular dish. They also had some stir fry dishes in the menu. Generally I’m not a fan of places that try to a wide variety of palettes, but they really do it well at Raw on Five. • Le Grand Bistro-I thought this was one of the hidden gems of dining on Edge. Try it at least once for breakfast or lunch,. I think the surcharge was $20 for lunch, and less for breakfast, and the food was fantastic. The daily specials were out of this world delicious and included rack of lamb, seared sea bass, Coq Au Vin, Short Rib Bourguinon, etc. Food was fantastic all around, and it’s just a nice airy place for a snack or a fully meal. • Rooftop Grill-Le Petit Chef- I didn’t try either as loved Le Petit Chef twice on Reflection last year, and Rooftop Garden reminded me of Mast Grill, so I passed on both this time. • Eden Restaurant- It was great eating in Eden for breakfast or lunch, and no upcharge and never crowded, but alas dinner. How do I explain dinner, other than saying it was odd at worst, uncomfortable at best. There were 6 of us, and the menu seemed unique to put it nicely. The food was pretty good overall, but didn’t seem to carry any type of theme or reason to it. Just kind of a random amalgam of foodstuff. It was five courses, and all was ok (except what my friend call the asbestos biscuit, which really had an odd taste). The performance (or show) with the Edenites during dinner was uncomfortable though. I think part of the problem is you don’t have a perspective of what’s going on around you. I found watching the performance from different parts of the venue is really wonderful and enjoyable, but IMHO it doesn’t work while dining. I met a nice lady one day on the cruise who said she was dining alone in Eden, and just felt when the Edenites came by here, she felt like a display not a dining guest. I think like anything dining in Eden will evolve into a great experience, but right now it’s just awkward. That being said, try it for one of the performances. Children's clubs-The kids I saw onboard seem to be having fun, but no personal experience to relate to Entertainment-I was so happy to see that Celebrity was trying some new forms of entertainment. The Celebrity singers and dancers are still there, and went to one performance, and it was actually visually and artistically pleasing. First thing I noticed was the music. It wasn’t just music from the 30’s -50’s that had low royalty licensing fees. Instead it was a blend of old and new (Coldplay, Ed Sheeran), blended beautifully with music of the past. The show itself kept my interest, where during normal shows I leave after 15-20 minutes, so really happy they re-invented rather than repackaged. Especially liked the onboard talent, I think 4 performers and 2 DJ’s (2 singers with guitar, two bands, two DJ’s). The one band Impulse was fantastic , did flawless covers of Green Day and other bands in the Rock format and they did them well. Acoustics down around martini bar aren’t that great, much better in the club. Also loved that they were combining shows and bands, where one of the solo acts might join a band or the bands performers would join each other. The comedians and solo singing acts in the main theatre were forgettable, so I was so happy when the bands or DJ’s were performing Smart thing they did is made the theater a bit smaller on Edge. I think I was told it holds 900 people per seating now, and although I only went to one show, it wasn’t crowded for any performance they had. The Retreat-The suite only retreat lounge and outside area are a beautiful addition to the ship. All of these areas are located at the front of the ship, and are key card accessible. The lounge is nicely laid out, it reminds me of a business class lounge in an major Asian airport, with a couple of small glass refrigerators stocked with beer and soda. It also has a palette of hot and cold snacks all day, and generally two hosts are readily available to help with questions, reservations, guest relations issues, etc. I really liked that they also had copies of all the menus of the dining establishments onboard. There was two or more servers constantly roaming through to take drink orders as well. It was such a friendly cheery venue. Retreat Sundeck/PoolBar-I really found this area lovely. The very front area is more active with a small pool (suitable for cooling off, not really swimming), a hot tub that could sit 6-8 and loungers, pergolas, swings and chairs everywhere. Probably could easily seat 125+. Back a little towards the main pool is a quieter area that adjoins the main pool. And I found this area a bit quieter with less kids. It again is discreetly separated from main pool area with a key card access I think it sat about 100. Also a bar/food area that sat about 25, didn’t eat there but it looked good. There definitely was an overabundance of staffers in the Retreat Sundeck area to meet any needs or help you have. Disembarkation-Was simple and easy, I opted for the Luggage Valet program where if you are flying from SEA, FLL, or MIA for a $25 fee, you can do your airline checkin on Alaska, American, Delta, JetBlue, United or Southwest onboard, and have your bags picked up the last night of cruise, and transferred directly to the airline (you avoid claiming them at cruise terminal). This went off flawlessly as they arrived with my flight. Summary- When I first saw the drawings of Edge and followed its construction, I thought they went too neutral with the design. It seemed to be saturated with earth tones, and not much color. I was super pleasantly surprised to see it in person, as the colors and textures, really make it a standout in more ways than one. From the greens and browns of Eden to the grays with pops of crimson in the carpet in the hallways, all the spaces really have their own identity, but also have a cohesion to each other. Like all Celebrity ships, the art is everywhere which whether you like a particular piece or not, it still adds to the mood of the space. TRY IT TRY IT TRY IT. Make a decision for yourself. Yes it is something new, yes it may have a few nuances that need to be work out, but it is a spectacular ship. I love the new bells and whistles, and the outside the box thinking that created it. Happy that it’s not Love Boat 8.0 or a ship with an amusement park, it redefines elegance and fun at sea. I also admire that they have trust in their onboard team to modify and try new things, and change things that will be adjusted. You have the best of the best onboard this ship from a crew perspective, and each is anxious to make the experience beyond your imagination. On a scale of 1-100 I’d give it a 98. I had about 40 friends onboard ranging from 30ish to 80ish, inside cabins to suites, from US, Canada, Australia, UK, France and Germany and not one was disappointed with the experience, or felt it was a bad decision. I’m already booked for the November Transatlantic. I’m sure the 5% of the population will only be happy if they are miserable, another 15% finds happiness in any situation, and the rest of the lot are open to being WOW-ed. Celebrity Edge has the WOW factor, and it’s a well thought out adaptable ship and organization, that will only strengthen as it rolls into the waves near you. There will always be people that live to complain. I actually overheard a passenger at guest relations complaining that the towels were TOO SOFT for her taste. I hear the common complaint on message boards that Celebrity is trying to draw in Millennial’s, and a younger crowd. I would think of course they would since only 35-40% of their passenger base are returning Celebrity cruisers. My reaction to that is so what, do they do it at the expense of other passengers? , IMHO no they don’t. This was our first 5 day cruise - it was much easier to fit into our busy work schedule and we had a blast! We thoroughly enjoyed the not-huge size of the ship, and the fellow passengers (few children and no crazy party people). The time of year was handy; it fit into our schedule. It’s wonderful to visit hit places when it’s cold and snowy at home. Also, we made friends on this cruise. We have not done this before. We plan to cruise together next year. We have already been communicating with them. We did no excursions. We very happily remained on the ship and enjoyed what is had to offer. The only small concern was that there were no enrichment activities. We enjoy them. Also, portrait photos were not taken very often. That can be improved in. This was my first time cruising with Celebrity after having thoroughly enjoyed my first cruise with RCCL to Bermuda back in 2011. I was excited to explore the Caribbean and to try the more premium offerings of Celebrity. My wife and I had a great time and even booked our next Celebrity voyage (Constellation in the Mediterranean, Summer 2019) whilst still onboard the Equinox. Ahead of the cruise, we spent a few wonderful days exploring Miami, enjoying the warm weather and great food before climbing aboard the Equinox for 7 nights in the Western Caribbean. Our stateroom was nice, and we made constant use of our balcony. The only issue we experienced with the accommodation occurred in one of the ports, where we experienced a strong acrylic/chemical smell in the cabin that was the result of some work being done on the ship's hull. It was quite overpowering, we alerted the steward and he mentioned the same reported by other passengers. The work promptly ceased and the smell dissipated after some time. We loved the food onboard, both in the main dining room and in Murano, the French specialty restaurant on board. The choices were excellent, we especially liked the 'Moveable Feast' menu and events on board, inspired/cooked by Michelle Bernstein and Marcus Samuelsson who were often seen walking around the ship. We generally liked the ports of call, although they trended more towards the tourist-y versus the cultural. We enjoyed walking around in Key West, buying some souvenirs and the requisite key lime pies. We planned one excursion in Costa Maya to a secluded beach club, however had to be taken to a different, closer beach due to problems with seaweed. Not ideal, but we made the best of our beach day. We actually didn't get off the ship in Cozumel, choosing instead to spend the day onboard at the spa. I had hoped that Grand Cayman would be similar to Bermuda, given their similar roles as financial and banking centers. This was not the case, at least not for the area directly around the tender drop-off point. Our ship pulled into what seemed to be a cruise-ship parking lot- along with three other large Carnival ships- so the port area was extremely crowded with passengers and vendors. August in the Caribbean is hot and humid, so it was difficult to spend much time outside, besides by the pool. Also the summer timing of the cruise also meant that there were a large number of children on the ship. I hadn't expected this with Celebrity but it didn't cause any issues. We really enjoyed the ability to relax and unwind on this trip. Although it was carrying thousands of passengers, there were numerous quiet places and never seemed too crowded. We'd certainly cruise on the Equinox again, at a cooler time of the year, perhaps as a way to explore the islands of Eastern Caribbean. Read Less

This was our first "all inclusive" and I loved it. The fact it included the pre-cruise in Quito, including tours was a bonus and sealed the sale for us. Celebrity did not disappoint. If you like to hang on the ship and skip long walk excursions, this is not a trip for you. This trip is all about the Galapagos Archipelago and its wonder. To get there. Information for booking flights was very good and we even had our travel agent double check for us. NO problems what so ever being greeted at the airport and being brought to the hotel. The hotel and staff in Quito were great. The tour company, the transfers, everything. It all felt welcoming, and everyone seemed truly concerned with delivering the product. Very organized at all times. Travel from Quito to the ship was never stressful, which left a lot of time to build on the excitement I already had. Again, super organized and I can't remember having to even touch my luggage from the time I handed it off in the hotel in Quito until it was in my cabin on board. Now, I hate reading spoilers in reviews of trips I'm looking at, so I will be leaving some highlights out. I don't ruin another persons anticipation. I'll start with embarkation, the beginning of a long term dream come true, and yes there were tears of joy. It's not like any embarkation you are used to, except for the Celebrity standard of sparking wine. More joyful tears as we are escorted further into the ship. The CREW! Every last person was amazing, kind, and seemed to love their job. (How could you not?) There had to be a ratio of 2 crew for every passenger, but I don't actually know the stats. If any crew person had a bad day, we didnt' know it. With only 100 people it does not take naturalists, food and bev, or any crew that directly interact with passengers long to get to know everyone on the trip. Dining crew remembered by breakfast to steer me away from anything on the menu that was not gluten free. Which brings me to the food. I have seen some reviews of this trip and the food. I'll say from my opinion it was great. Keep in mind here, they have to use everything sourced from the region. That will limit what they can work with. So, you have to come to a point of acceptance that you can not have everything you think you should. When you get over that, they do a fantastic job with the food. No, I did not like everything, but I never went hungry. I was happy with my meals way more often than I was not. Some other reviews give better tips on ordering specifics that I found useful. Since those applied at the time I was on the ship, I will let you find those suggestions rather than repeat them here. Also regarding food. This is not 24 hr food ship. Don't get mad. I'm sure if you absolutely needed something one of the stellar crew will accommodate you, as long as you are not rude about it. This is a crew that wants to give everyone top level of service. I had to get out of my own comfort zone when it comes to cruising. There are not many places to hide away from the group, which I usually do. We ended up making friends that we have since stayed in touch with still long after and even visited with away from home. The way the dining room is set up, and the small excursion groups, you have to fight hard to be anti-social. I'm glad I gave up the fight. I quickly realized I was sharing this magical journey with only 99 other people in the same moment in time, and it was meant to be celebrated together. With that, moving onto the excursions. It works exactly the way Celebrity says it works. Again, I wont give any spoilers. Just keep your mind open. Remember where you are on the planet in the moment, and you will not be disappointed. Listen to the naturalists for directions and a ton of Galapagos knowledge. Make sure you always follow the safety rules, and watch your step. This is not a place with building codes. Watch your every step. Safety is always the priority. This truly was by far an experience that I have zero regret and feel I got every two years of saving pennies worth. We have already talked about saving up to go back in five years on a different loop. Rather than write my diary or repeat things covered in other very good reviews and helpful advice already on here (like sunscreen tips that were crucial) I will wrap it up. My last piece of advice. Try to write down some of the little things every day. It makes for great souvenir to look back on that beats any trinket you buy on Santa Cruz Island. Read Less

My Bride and I usually cruise with family or another couple but this time was different, we were celebrating our 20th anniversary and wanted to do "Our own thing". We arrived around 10:00 am and dropped our bags with out a hitch. I parked the car in the parking structure right across the street from the ship while the wife waited. After parking the check in went quickly and smoothly and we were on board by 10:40 am. We have sailed a few times in Concierge and a few times in Aqua but usually a normal verandah. this time being just us two we went with a guarantee verandah and were pleasantly surprised with a concierge cabin on deck 9, four cabins from the front of the ship. (9108) Normally I would'nt of booked this cabin but we fell in love with it after a couple of days. The view was great and our daly wave to the captain and crew from the verandah became a fun daily routine. We did our usual select dining and made a standing reservation for a table for two by the window every night at 5:30 pm so we could eat early and catch the early show. By doing this it freed up the rest of the night to just wing it. We found that this also gave us time to watch the sunset every night right afer the show which was very nice. We ate in the MDR 5 of the 7 nights. The two nights we chose not to were more of us being lazy and not wanting to get dressed for dinner. The food was very good every meal as well as the service. The nights we ate in the Oceanview Cafe the food was good and fresh there also. As for the entertainment, we enjoy the guest entertainment more than the production shows so sometimes we will skip those. This time was different. After being invited to a backstage tour and meeting some of the performers we became more interested and really enjoyed them more. As for the music, the house band and solo performers were also very good. The Cruise Director Maarten Bruels was spot on as always! One of the nights they had "The Wedding Games" and my wife and I were slected to play, and we also won, and that was great fun. Now let me preface this with a side note, my 90 year old mother who loved cruising and had sailed around the world passed away after we had been booked on this cruise and before she passed she made my 3 brothers and myself promise her 3 things......Love each other, take care of each other and live life to it's fullest. Well knowing how much Mom loved cruising we contacted Celebrity and made arrangements to bury her at sea. I didn't know much about the process but after a little research it wasn't a problem. Celebrity and Julie Sherrington, the Guest Relations Officer on the Equinox were amazing and walked us through everything, on the first sea day we met with the enviromentel officer and guest relations and were able to perform this for my mother. They brought us some roses to toss into the sea with my moms ashes and later presented us with a lovely certificate with some kind words and the time and coordinates of the burial. Very classy Celebrity. Later that evening we were invited to the senior officers cocktail party and enjoyed watching some of the officers sing and perform with the band in the sky lounge. We had a few drinks, a few hors d'oeuvres and a bunch of laughs with the group. When we returned to our cabin that night we were pleasantly surprised by a invitation to take atour of the bridge followed by lunch with the Captain and a few other officers in Blu. we were very happy to be seated next to Julie Sherrington, the GRM. She is such a good person and so funny too. The lunch was amazing! After the appetizers we were treated to Filet mignon, lamb chops, sea bass, octopus and calamari. All I could say was WOW! Later that night I had an appointment to make something with the new Hollywood Hot Glass class. After seeing the show that the Corning Museum of Glass did many times I was excited to give it a shot. The instructors were great and the finished product was a nice memory too. As for the ports; Key West; We did the Conch train and the aqurium. The conch train was a nice ride around the highlights but the aquarium was a joke, save your money and just ake the train. Grand Cayman; We did the semi submarine and island tour. This turned out to be a great value! After boarding the bus within minutes we were at the submarine, My wife was affraid she would be clostraphobic but was very happy with the amount of room inside. We cruised around a couple of reefs ans a wreck and saw many types of fish and rays. After the sub we went to the turtle farm and really enjoyed seeing and holdind some green sea turtles. After that we went to Hell, the town of Hell Grand Cayman is nothing more than a couple of run down shops and a place to mail a postcard with a "HELL" postmark. Cozumel; We did another semisubmarine tour. It was pretty much the same as Grand Cayman but with not as many fish. After that we walked around and bought a few things before heading back to the ship. Costa Maya; We did do any excursions and just walked around and did a little shopping. If you see something in Cozumel you like get it there! The same stuff in Costa Maya is way more money! I was able to get a few good deals but it was a lot more work to get it. All in all it was a gret cruise and one we will remember for ever! The Equinox is one of our favorites and I am sure we will be back! This was our 18th cruise and our tenth with Celebrity and it was by far the most memorable! Everyone from the Cabin stewards, bar tenders, wait staff and the entertainment was perfect for us! We can't wait for our next cruise! Cheers! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we have cruised with Celebrity a number of times and this ship twice before. We already have 2 more cruises booked on the Reflection. Of more than 35 cruises over the past 25 years, we have found Celebrity in general and Reflection in particular, to be the best. The ship is beautiful and always sparking clean. The food is excellent. We usually get a small suite and that gives us access to Luminae, the suite special restaurant with its own chef. the food is excellent and the staff at Luminae is made up of the best of the best. They are warm and inviting and constantly strive to make your experience fantastic. Our waiter this time was Jose whose menu recommendations were always spot on. The ship truly is spic and span with constant cleaning including the public rest rooms. Tours were very good. In Rome, we actually booked private tours with a company not affiliated with the ship. All around Italy (info@allarounditaly.com) with Fabrizio and Valentino. They were fantastic. In 2 days, we saw more of Rome than we ever could have in a week on our own. Drove us in a Mercedes van directly to the Vatican and Colosseum as well as many other sites and their English was excellent. The entertainment on Reflection was varied and top quality. The ship's band was excellent as well. Overall, I cannot think of enough superlatives for this ship and its crew. Read Less

We chose this ship due to dates off from work, kinda last minute and wanted to cruise on this ship after reading all the positive reviews. Happy they still offer the champagne upon embarkation. The staff were happy and accommodating at all times. The size of the cabin and bathroom was very nice. The bed already had an egg Crete on it, perhaps because we had a concierge cabin. The daily afternoon canapés were a nice touch as well. Food better than on most ships, other cruise lines, that is. On embarkation day, lunch provided to concierge guests in the dining room was very good. Choices were adequate and our salmon was yummy. Only have one complaint, and that was disembarkation. Apparently, customs has made it very difficult to get a porter, as they aren't allowed to take you out on the porter line, they have to take your luggage with you through the endless, winding, snake line to wait for maybe 5 Customs Agents. Thus waiting with you to clear customs, there aren't any porters available. Senseless end to a great trip. I felt badly for the Grandmas and Grandpas, having to drag their own luggage. Read Less

My wife and I would like to invite you to come along with us on our adventure into cruising and as it so happens it is with a company called Celebrity X Cruises, considering the amount of money that we paid out, we had hoped it would be our “Once in a lifetime visit to the Baltic and especially St Petersburg”, between 2nd July and the 16th July 2017.” We set off on 1st July from Edinburgh flying to Southampton where we stayed overnight in The Holiday Inn where we were looked after very well indeed. We wakened early on the morning of the 2nd of July and headed off on foot to the terminal after a hearty breakfast. The journey to the terminal was described by our travel agent as a comfortable five minute walk from our overnight hotel. The weather was thankfully dry but quite clammy so you can imagine that it was not long before we were starting to feel sticky and uncomfortable carrying our main luggage and in flight cabin baggage. The first thing that we noticed was the lack of signage or Celebrity Cruise Staff to direct us to our ship (The Eclipse) having walked a fair distance we eventually asked a member of staff if we were going in the right direction, to which he replied, “you have to go back to the main gate as you have come too far for your cases to go through security. We were not very happy with this as we had not encountered any signage at all, and by now we were feeling mildly stressed to say the least so we queried his instructions and he insisted that we should return to where we had come from. We then spotted a female member of staff so we asked her opinion and she confirmed that we should proceed ahead and not go back. Once we eventually arrived at the appropriate place for baggage collection we had to bring it to the attention of the member of staff standing at a podium/desk that we were eligible for priority boarding due to us being booked in to a Concierge C1 Stateroom (1200). She told us that this was not the case and referred us to a male member of staff standing nearby, who also informed us that we were not eligible for priority boarding and told us to join the luggage queue across the road from where we were standing. I looked through the paper work that I had in one of our cases and produced a document that confirmed that we were eligible for priority boarding so he on looking at this decided that he would have to check this out and asked us to leave our cases and he would return. He then returned about ten minutes later and apologised for the mix up and attached two luggage labels to our cases and asked us to leave our cases here, (Our cases were taken from us at 11.20am and after mislaying one of them we eventually received them separately at 5.30pm, 6 hours after boarding) and follow him in to a doorway of the terminal and pointed us in the appropriate direction for the start of boarding hurdles (metaphorically) that we had to climb over/go through. We then encountered a young man who introduced himself as Jonathan telling us that he would be our Concierge for our holiday and pointed us towards a desk were we noticed a young lady waiting for us. This by the way was the last time that we personally spoke to Jonathan during our complete journey (he left three voice messages on our stateroom phone during the journey to St Petersburg and back to Southampton) We then proceeded to go to the desk and had the misfortune to deal with Wendy who insisted that we fill in a personal form declaring that we did not have sickness or diarrhoea in the last two weeks before boarding our cruise liner. She was rude and arrogant pushing our Sea Passes along the counter at us and then told us to look into the camera. We proceeded along another gangway where we were eventually met by two other members of staff who asked us for our Sea Passes, which one of them looked at and handed my wife’s back to her and then handed mine to me and stated “ok “Danny Boy go straight ahead”. My full name is D********** so I asked him not to refer to me as “Danny Boy” he grunted something towards me and turned to the next passenger behind me. We arrived on board at about 11.40am and were met with mayhem and no one directing anyone, but eventually a Public Address message was broadcast to inform the passengers that they would not get access to their rooms/staterooms until 1pm at the earliest but our cases would be delivered as soon as possible. To try and reduce this we will now go to bullet points instead. (1) Stateroom was tired in maintenance paint peeling on balcony doors, drawers in stateroom that would not close properly, pot marks on the inside of the drawers, Towels that were not 100% luxury cotton as promised, (Our Stateroom Attendant “Rivon” was a life saver in so many ways going out of his way to rectify any problems that he could to our satisfaction. Rivon is a credit to Celebrity and he has abilities beyond his role of stateroom attendant.) Our remote control for our T.V. was taped up with black tape to help hold it together. The toilet roll was a disgrace in that it was cheap and nasty and the shower was like trying to wash yourself in a wardrobe. The actual wardrobe doors squeaked and squealed like a motorbike starting up. Faulty socket for kettle for which electrician had to be called to attend to on the day we arrived. (2) We were offered a Classic drinks passage as part of an incentive to book the cruise and we had thankfully asked Sarah Sotheron in your Surrey Head Office U.K. to provide us with a copy of the drinks applicable to our package. When we went to the bars this did not tally with our list and the Martini Bar Staff actually charged us extra on two or three occasions without asking us for a signature for this extra cost. We went to guest relations to ask for an explanation as to why this was and “Ben” informed us that the classic package had changed and there was nothing that he could do so we would have to accept it. We asked to speak to a member of Guest Relations Management and Ben told us that no managers were available as they were all on their break. We then asked to speak to a manager of the bars and through Joel we spoke on the phone three times to “Bobdan”, "Beverage Operations Manager" who eventually empathised with us and eventually agreed to update us to Premium Class Drinks package two days before the end of our cruise!! Even after that we were overcharged for drinks which I thankfully noticed when I went on line via our T.V. to check our account on the night before we disembarked!!! Why? (3) Whilst speaking to Ben on Guest Relations Desk we were talked over by an irate member of Guest Relations Staff (Vlada) we had to ask her to go away three times informing her that we were talking to Ben and not to her. I had spoken to her an hour before re The Classic Drinks Package and asked her to photocopy the list for us, which she did but would not listen to us continually talking to us as if reading from a script, so I had asked her to stop talking to us as a robot. We think that she was angry with us when we later came down to Guest Relations and spoke to Ben and not to her. (4) Disembarking day was a shambles with not one sign to direct the passengers nor a single member of staff available to direct the passengers to the correct exit. What came over very clearly was that we now have your money so we don’t need to bother any more. We will never cruise again with any company due to experience with Celebrity X Cruises. Finally on a positive note to our Cruise the highlight was The Moonlight Sonata Restaurant and the staff therein especially to “Edy” and “Jon” who are a credit to Celebrity Cruises. The General Restaurant "The Ocean View Café which we had to use for lunch when the ship was in port was like a cattle market with cold/lukewarm food and rude staff. We visited The Café Al Bacio on various occasions and each time we found the staff to be totally unprofessional giving the distinct impression that they did not want to be there. No attempt by the staff to smile or make you as a customer feel welcome. We have written directly to the Celebrity C.E.O. Lisa Lutoff-Perlo with our complaints and through her office we received three phone calls to apologise and they offered us Future Vouchers off our next cruise via e mail even though we told them on the phone that we would never cruise again. We simply asked them to confirm in writing (Snail Mail) that our complaint had been heard and that something would be done to prevent this happening to anyone else in the future, but this was refused and stated this via e mail. The whole impression that we were left with was one of neglect in maintenance and a complete fall in standards as we had spoken to quite a few other passengers who unlike us had sailed with Celebrity before and they also felt that the ship was badly run down and neglected. Unfortunately the prices charged for a supposedly luxury ship and Concierge Stateroom were extortionate to say the least and to offer us vouchers off our next cruise when told that we would never cruise again were an insult. I loved the MARTINI BAR & the overall look of the ship. The shows were A! & in great taste. Would I sail again on her?? YOU BET I WOULD., The cabin stewart was A-1 as was all the people whow served us . I cannot sat enough about the people who took care of or vacation needs, They went above & beyond what was called for them & always with a smile.. If I was asked to say what I thought of the ship & crew I would have to give them a A+ with a few more +s. I have been on over 55 cruises & have both good & bad but I will rate this cruise as A+++++++++++++++++. Read Less

I had hoped to give some friends a bit of luxury so I treated them to a cruise. They enjoyed the cruise but had nothing to compare it with. The staff were generally lovely. The entertainment was the best I have experienced. But, the cabin was very poorly designed and made the worst of a small cabin. I did not like the "class system" - special restaurants for different classes of passengers; areas of the theatre roped off for some class of passengers; the best positioned bar on the ship reserved for certain class of guests almost every day between 4:30 and 7:00 None of the bars could serve a margarita in a margarita glass - and most of the bar staff did not seem to know what a margarita glass was . Some passengers were told they could not do a Barrier Reef trip. These had come from overseas specially to snorkel the Reef. However, at least one tour had about a dozen staff on it. As one trip was abandoned because of a broken down catamaran, priority should have been given to these passengers over any staff. Read Less
