We have been on two cruises to Alaska but never in the summer. Whilst overall the cruise was very good some things on Infinity need attention. Cabins need updating. We were on the Infinity about 5 years ago and the cabins were still the same. We booked an Aqua class cabin and this entitled us to eat In the Blu restaurant. I cannot praise Blu highly enough. The food, staff and service were all excellent. We tried the buffet restaurant a couple of times and it was awful. Much of the food was spicy. Not a great choice. Not enough tables. We went in the Trellis restaurant only once and once was enough. The waiter was very aggressive. We waited a long time for our food. We booked three excursions and all were well run. Whale watching in Icy Straight Point, Gold panning and salmon bake in Juneau. Lumberjack show ( we have been to this show 3 times and still enjoy it) and Potlach Park in Ketchikan. We had plenty of time at all the destinations. Overall we enjoyed the cruise but te ship needs updating. Read Less

Overall the experience of a lifetime. The Infinity is showing her age a bit but very well maintained. We are not excursion people, nor are we fitness buffs so have nothing to report in these areas. All ship staff we encountered offered a friendly greeting whether they were on task or in passing. Stateroom attendant Chico was outstanding. The buffet offered a wide selection of very good offerings. The MDR was always very good. Delicious food well presented. Waiter Artika and asst waiter Imam very competent and efficient, and a lot of fun. Weather was acceptable most of trip. Could have used a bit more sunshine through the canal, will have to talk to Celebrity about that next time. Entertainment throughout the entire cruise was excellent, whether provided by headliners or staff singers, dancers, or orchestra. My biggest disappointment is with the sound board in the main theatre. Most performances were simply too loud, out of balance, and way too much echo/reverb. Not all programs are Rock concerts! A major rethink on the usage of the sound board is needed. This did not prevent us from seeing all shows, and certainly did not detract from our enjoyment of the entire trip. Hopefully we will be able to do it again! Read Less

I took this cruise as part of a group of crocheters that I met virtually through an online crochet site. The thought of seeing the beautiful sights in Alaska and spending time doing something I love was very appealing. I went by myself and since Celebrity doesn't have any solo cabins I would up paying the "single penalty". I wish some of the older ships would retrofit with studio cabins but that doesn't affect my review. I was in cabin 3081 and due to other reviews I was worried about things like smell and toilets not working. There was an occasional musty smell on the floor but otherwise everything was good. I ate in the MDR almost every night and the food was fantastic. I ordered 2 appetizers (always get the shrimp cocktail) every night and there was an entrée that I loved on every single night. I did a few shore excursions that were arranged by the travel agent that we booked through and they were fantastic. I did zip lining in Ketchikan and visited Mendenhall Glacier Park with Whale Watching and a trip to the Alaska micro brewery in Juneau. Icy Straight Pass is a throw away stop and I wouldn't even get off the ship if I did this cruise again. Read Less

This was only our second cruise and both with Celebrity. We just loved everything about it, from the shows, entertainment, activities, dining, comfort, staff, shopping etc. We cannot say enough about the staff right throughout the ship. Every one of them makes you feel welcome. This trip and our last (Alaska) is more for adults than children and this time as the last, there were very few children onboard. The entertainment and activities are mostly geared toward middle age and up but the muted disco nights at Martini Bar was good for anyone aged teenager and up, as were the disco nights in the Constellation. There are activities available for children too but to be honest, I'd be bored if I was an active kid on a cruise such as this. Obviously babies and toddlers wouldn't know the difference though. Captain Berdos was wonderful, personable and humorous and all his staff were fantastic, from officer status through to cleaning staff. Every one you passed acknowledged and greeted you with a smile. Our stateroom attendants Bartholome and Frank were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble. On both our Celebrity cruises, we witnessed constant cleaning and hand sanitising which ensures the safety and health of the guests. One lovely guy was constantly cleaning stairway railings and greeted everyone with a smile. Choice of dining was fantastic and every dish we had was fresh, tasty and served at the correct temperature. The buffet dining was excellent and they have a whole crew of cleaners to completely scrub every item before the next meal is put out. We renewed our marriage vows with the captain and the events coordinator Adriana was superb. She arranged everything so that we had a wonderful memory to take away. All the staff seem to be hand picked - incredible customer service right throughout our cruise and it never slipped once. We used to love the iced cold towels at the ship when returning from excursions in the heat and humidity, along with fresh fruit flavoured iced waters. We will always travel Celebrity because we can be sure of the standards. Read Less

This Celebrity Cruise was chosen due to the timing and the itinerary. We began looking at this cruise approximately 2 years before it's sailing and compared it with other cruises being offered. After many comparisions..... and reviewing many positive postings on cruisecritic.com we made the choice to cruise on the Infinity. We are very happy we did. While the embarkation process was a bit slow (time was shortened due to inspections and other issues) we were happy to board in the early afternoon. Security was typical and while busy everyone was friendly during the process. We found the ship in pretty good shape, however there were some small areas we noted that were due for a little fix up. The shower and areas surrounding the vanity were heavily laden with caulking that appeared to be layered many times in order to keep problems away. We did notice a chipped floor tile and a bit of dark in the caulking / grout but did not feel this was of any health concern. The room was spotless, and our Cabin Steward Michael was very approachable and always ready to assist with any request. His partner Gareth were both great and we could not have had better service. I do miss the evening ''towel animals" found on other cruise lines though. The food on board at all of the venues we tried was in one word OUTSTANDING. All of the meals were presented very well, and portions were more than adequate. As always you could order more than one item if you really wanted to. We tried the Trellis Restaurant, Tuscan Grill, The Oceanview Buffet, Poolside Bar and Al Bocia. The Tuscan Grill (Specialty Restaurant) was beyond compare, and provided more food during our experience than one person could ever consume. Kudos to the wait staff and chefs and other staff.....as the food was overall superior to any other ocean cruise line we had ever experienced. We did not attend any of the talks or presentations, however did watch a few on the in-cabin television. This brought another observation in that the interactive TV that was supposed to be so helpful was anything but. You could order excursions via the TV, and also some movies, however any thought of trying to do reservations for dinner did not exist. We also noted that some very old information was on the information channels ..... (still advertising the SS United States Restaurant on Deck 3) and making reference to enjoying activities in the Caribbean (we were in the Panama Canal), and lastly reference to enjoying events beginning in the year 2011. We made the ships staff aware of the TV situation and was personally contacted while onboard to acknowledge that they would deal with the issues with the proper area soon. We found all the staff from the various areas of the ship....always with a smile, and many times went out of their way to insure that we were able to have an item that normally was not readily available. We were truly impressed, even with the older ship, and do intend to look at Celebrity for future cruises. Read Less

Just returned from sailing on the Celebrity Infinity Pacific coastal with port stops in Monterey, Ensenada, San Diego, Catalina Island and Santa Barbara. Wonderful port stops, and even though we had to tender the majority of the timing, the tenders were quick and always available, no lines. :) We were surprised there was not a whale watching excursion in Monterey, but right off the port we booked our own excursion on Chris' Whale Watching and were not disappointed. Saw over 40 whales up close and personal. fantastic! If you have a port stop in Santa Barbara highly recommend renting a car and driving to Reagan Library and Air Force One in Simi Valley. Takes a little over an hour to drive there but well worth the drive. We took a watercolor painting class which was great fun! highly recommend I had never painted in my life and I would say the majority of the class were newbies, and we all were impressed with the final results. The entertainment was outstanding. Don't miss the shows! Liked every show we saw - Dean Gaines, comedian, David Meyer was OUTSTANDING. What energy! Lou ___ from season 2 of American Idol was the best singer I have ever heard on a ship. Really enjoyed the aerialists from Romania and Croatia (a husband and wife to-be team). There is a 3:30 pm snack time. This is really afternoon tea with scones and teas and sandwiches and desserts. Liked this a lot as you don't have to sit in a main dining room, you can just get your scones and tea and enjoy at your leisure. Also loved that they have free ice cream 4 flavors and sorbets, 3 or 4 flavors on Deck 10, Oceanview Cafe. Plenty of choices. We had great dinners in the main dining room and a wonderful group of servers. DO NOT MISS going to the large outside pool on Deck 10 near the Canyon spa. This was another highlight of the ship. There is not a charge to use this pool and it is fantastic! Not to be missed. The water is warm and wonderful and water is salty. My husband likes a cool pool but I loved this pool!!! Cruise director Patti was great and was also a fantastic singer, Overall rating -- 9+ I would have rated this cruise a perfect 10 had the TV in our room been better and movies been available on the ship. If you are thinking about seeing California coast, be sure to book this cruise! Read Less

This was our 25th cruise, our second on Celebrity. We loved it - we were part of a group of 12 and the overall concensus was that Celebrity definitely does an above average job of providing a value-added cruise experience. Our Concierge cabin was perfect, the daily fruit bowls and canapes were great, and the flowers in the cabin and bathroom were a wonderful touch. The shower was comfortable, towels were great, and bath amenities above and beyond the usual. The food on the ship was very good - best pizza we have had on a ship, great hot dogs, wonderful pasta choices, large variety of sushi every day, and tasty stirfry. Dining room food was well presented and flavorful, service exceptional! Adequate variety most nights to always find something you liked on the menu. Buffet food was good, usually warm, and had a large variety every day from breakfast to late in the day. The Thermopool area of the ship was a relaxing experience to visit whether you were just relaxing in a chair or enjoying the pool or hot tubs in the area. Pool Butlers were always friendly and accommodating regardless of what you asked of them. This ship was the friendliest and cleanest ship we have ever been on (25 cruises) - the ships officer's were always visible around the ship and were very approachable. They were always talking to passengers and soliciting opinions and suggestions - seemed genuinely concerned about passenger satisfaction! Quite the switch from a recent cruise on another "C" cruise line where we never saw an officer during the cruise other than on stage and the crew was less than friendly or accommodating. Entertainment in the Sunset Bar, Michael's, Cafe Bacio, the Rendevous Lounge, and Constellation was generally very good, however the number of songs was sometimes limited for some entertainers. We are already booked on another Celebrity cruise - it was a very positive cruise experience, and considering it was 17 nights, we felt that if there were significant things to criticize we would have found them in that number of days! What a wonderful experience from start to finish. We just returned from a Celebrity Infinity Alaska cruise. I spent a lot of time reading on cruise Critic prior to our cruise and found some wonderful things to do! We arrived in Seattle on Wed., July 13 from Virginia via Continental. We had reservations at the Warwick Hotel at the corner of Lenore Ave and Fourth St. It is an older hotel but don't let that stop you. Its location was perfect. We were downtown about four blocks from the Westlake Center where the tram stop is located and surrounded by restaurants and shops. The people at the Warwick could not have been nicer. The Concierge helped us with maps and ideas and also getting taxi's when needed. We walked to Pike's Place on our first full day. It was so much larger than anticipated. Yes it was crowded but the experience was worth the crowd. We have never seen such beautiful flowers in such abundance. Naturally the fish market was a must. We decided to be real tourists and took the Duck tour bus. Fun! On Friday we took a taxi to the port which was a short distance away. I like to arrive early and we were the first group of people in line. That meant we were the first people thru the check in process and the first on the ship. We were on in perfect time for lunch and were able to avoid the crowds. Our cabin was actually ready by 1:30 which was nice. The cabin was much like any other although the rounded corners on the bed gave you a bit more leg room. Plenty of hangers and drawers! It seemed to have more storage space than others we have been aboard. On Saturday we arrived in Ketchikan. The weather was perfect! 80 degrees and sunny. I had found the names of several float plane companies on Cruise Critic and decided on Sea Wind Aviation. Upon contacting them several months ago I found them to be a young couple with three children. Leslie Kamm handled our reservation and answered the many questions I had along the way. They could not have been nicer. When we arrived for our float plane trip all was ready and off we went. There were six of us plus the pilot. Amazing ride! We soared above Misty Fjord and over lakes and mountains. Breath taking scenery. We landed on the lake and were able to get off the plane and onto the island. All in all it was perfect. I can not say enough nice things about Sea Wind Aviation. Sunday we arrived in Juneau. Again I had found the name of Captain Jack Cadigan 's company, ScaniaWW on Cruise Critic. We booked him several months out for a whale watching tour on his double hulled yacht. The really nice thing was he only took 8 people plus himself and a mate. The inside part of the yacht was warm, comfortable and he had coffee brewed! Given the fact that it was about 55 degrees and windy with on and off rain, that was greatly appreciated. I sat up top with Capt. Jack. We saw whales, whales and more whales. A wonderful time was had by all. Monday we arrived in Skagway. The weather had turned wonderful again with 80 temp. and sunny skies. We had booked an SUV ride/tour (found on CC) with Becky McGill of Beyond Skagway. She was right on time and picked us up at the dock. She drove us around Skagway for a few minutes as it is really small! And told us local history. Then we got on the Yukon Highway and started north. We stopped at lakes and other interesting scenery. We crossed over into the Yukon, CA., so had to have our passports. One stop was In Carcross (Caribou Crossing) to see a native Indian carver and his apprentices. They were carving huge totums for the soon to be new Indian Lodge. We stopped at Bee's log house. Bee is a local lady who lives there in the summer. She showed us her log cabin that was built by her husband years ago and shared many stories. We went on to the Carcross Desert. Yes desert! Then onto the Dunaroamin Bread and Breakfast for lunch. Suzanne and her husband served us a delicious homemade lunch in a Mongolian Yurt on the shore of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Its experiences like this that make traveling worth the trouble! Our 6 hour tour ended up being 8 hours but Becky said she was having such fun with us she didn't mind a bit! She had us back to Juneau in plenty of time to still take in shopping. The next morning we cruised thru the Misty Fjord for several hours and had a day at sea. We arrived in Victoria, BC at 6:30 PM the next evening. Beautiful place. Everyone had told us it was a little sea side city but we found it to be much bigger than expected. We arrived back in Seattle Friday morning. I was very happy with this cruise. It was our first Celebrity cruise. I personally think the food was much better than on Carnival or Holland America. I also think the entertainment was better. Much better! The reviews were as good as any Broadway show I've been to see. I found myself looking forward to the ships evening shows for the first time. The crew gave a performance on the last full day aboard. It was really funny and we were surprised at the talent. We will definitely cruise with Celebrity again. We spent three more days in Seattle at the Warwick Hotel before starting home. We managed to get a lot of sightseeing in. The Space Needle is a must! We had lunch in the cafe while overlooking the city. We also went to the Flight Museum and found it to be very interesting. We were able to go inside a Concord and an AirForce One. Going home was a bit of a chore as our flight was held an hour in Seattle. When we reached Newark airport, there had been thunderstorms. Our flight was delayed three hours! We made it home by 2:15 AM. Fortunately our bodies were still on Seattle time! Great trip! Read Less

Our 5th cruise on Celebrity and our 18th cruise overall. We sailed with 7 other couples, that have never cruise before and they sure did enjoy themselves. The Itinerary was from Seattle, Ketchikan, Hubbard Glacier, Juneau and Victoria BC. The high lite of the cruise had to be the Hubbard Glacier the Captain got the ship to within 3/10 of a mile from the face and what a site it was. The ice breaking off was a once in a life time photo op. There was to be a CC get together on the second day out but the home office did not send the name of those signed up, but we got it cleared up and had our get together on the 5th day. It was nice to put faces to those who post. We arrived at the pier in Seattle at 1105 and was having something to eat at 1120, so our embarkation was a breeze as was disembarkation. Our cabin was ready at 1300 (1:00PM). We thought that the food in the Trellis Dining Room was very good. The new menus were a real plus. Breakfast was had in our cabin each morning since we where in a CC cabin. The food was delivered right on time each morning. The food in the Ocean Cafe was good considering the amount of people to serve( the ship was full). I did like the different food stations that where set up. The naturalist Brent Nixon very entertaining and informative. Clebrity sure did a good job in having him onboard. The staff onboard where all excellent, they always seemed to have smile on their face and greeted us with a hello. We are looking forward to our next cruise on Celebrity. I just wish that they did the Mexico Rivera we would book in a heart beat. Read Less
