Celebrity Cruise Lines has a new priority, a new focus, a new ship comin' to town in late 2018. It's the Celebrity "Edge", first sea lady representing a new class of ships. Lot's of hype, lot's of attention, lot's of money$$$$$. As a result, in my opinion, the rest of the fleet is suffering from lack of attention, reductions in crew/staff and absurd modifications to packages. Gotta save money here to spend money there. The following are a few examples. Upon embarkation, while re-acquainting with the Silhouette, we could not find a hand sanitizer that contained fluid. The second day was the same. While waiting in line at guest relations we tried their hand sanitizer, no fluid. We mentioned it to a representative. Ironic that with all the emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene, this would happen. Our stateroom (8200), was clean but dated. Our stateroom attendant was wonderful and very attentive. However, I am rather offended when Celebrity sells me a cabin for lot's of money and presents it to me not caring what it looks like. Specifically, the arm of the couch was worn down to the ugly, dark foam rubber. Not very appealing to rest an arm, much less a head. The "Classic" drink package continues to become more absurd. First night at the Martini Bar we ordered an Absolut martini, up. Absolut vodka is listed on the Classic package. The bartender brought two martinis on the rocks. I reminded him that we ordered "up". His reply, "if I give you two Absolut martinis up, I will have to charge you three dollars more each because they are martinis. On the rocks they are not." WOW!!!! Service at some places was not crisp. You could tell that reductions in crew and staff made a difference in the attention one received. Entertainment for the most part was poor. Not the best that money can buy. We sailed the Silhouette in 2015 to the Baltic States and Russia. She was a proud lady that took pleasure in showing her attributes for all to see. However, in 2017 she seemed more reserved, almost embarrassed at what her guests were going to see and experience. The itinerary is great. The fellow cruisers we met are wonderful folks whom we enjoyed immensely. But, Celebrity Cruise Lines is definitely focused on the EDGE. To the point of ignoring the rest of the fleet? Perhaps. This was our 35th cruise. We drove to the Port and parked in the Cruise Terminal Parking Garage. The cost is $20 per day but because this was only a 7 night cruise the cost wasn't so bad. We also like that it is covered and secure. On longer cruises, we sometimes rent a car and drop it at the airport. Same for our return. They have a shuttle to the port. This was our 3rd time on Equinox and we were not disappointed. The staff and officers were visible and friendly; the ship was well maintained. We thought the food in the Oceanview Cafe was greatly improved. The dining room was good as always. We had a Concierge cabin #9243. The room was clean and our attendant, Hector, was fantastic. Would request that room again. The entertainment was very good in the main theatre. We especially enjoyed the comedians. Disembarkation was a little behind schedule due to customs but once our number was called, it moved fairly quickly. We will be going back on Equinox in 3 weeks and cannot wait! Read Less

I was travelling with a group of friends on this cruise. We met up in Stockholm a few days before to visit the sights. We stayed in the Södra Hammarbyhamnen area of stockholm which was a quick public transit ferry ride away from downtown (and the port!) On embarcation day, I took a transit ferry directly to Frihamnen port where the Silhouette was docked and walked right on the ship in a manner of minutes. This was one of the most efficient boardings I've ever seen. The ship is a beauty. Lawn club was in fine condition on the top deck, overall condition of the ship was impeccable. Staff friendly and plentyful. Pools well maintained and staffed (though the hot tubs were not warm enough... but that's just my preference). My cabin was an inside on deck 11 foreward, probably the largest inside I've ever seen. It was the same size as it's neigboring balcony cabins (minus the balcony). My group of 30 people had 3 reserved tables for fixed time dining at 20:30 and as one would expect on Celebrity the MDR food and service were excellent. I did not have one disapointing meal. Buffet was also impressive, selection and quality were up there with my expectations for Celebrity. Bar service was quick and efficient, I never had to wait for a drink anywhere on the ship. Entertainment on the ship was so-so... theatre shows were ok but nothing compared to the shows I saw on my last 3 cruises (Carnival Vista, NCL Escape and RCCL Jewel OTS). Main atrium band was really good, but had a very limited music roster. The same songs came back too often. I enjoyed all the ports, but my favorite was Tallin. I did not book and excursion and just walked around randomly old Tallin and was not disaponted. It's a perfectly preserved medieval city with a discovery on every street corner. On your way back to the ship, don't be afraid to go visit the huge abandonned looking concrete structure near the port. It's an old soviet era concert hall built for the Moscow olympics and a perfect example of soviet ultra utilitarian concrete construction. We took a red bus in Helsinki, but ended up walking around everywhere after our first stop as the bus couldn't access many areas due to a massive Pride-Day parade. St-Petersburg was as hectic as one would expect. Getting off the ship was quick (no wait), and Russian customs took around 30 minutes to clear. Riga was nice, but the ship docked in a lumber yard 40 minutes out of town (no I am not kidding!) and we had to buy bus transfers to get into Riga... not cool Celebrity you should have supplied a shuttle. While on board, I also did the "Behind the scenes" tour. Excellent visit to the "off limits" areas of the ship, I always love those tours... and Celebrity allows cameras so that was awesome! I would absolutely do this cruise again. Read Less

In fact, our group trip (47 people) started on June 15 with a day in Victoria and then two days, June 16 and 17 in Vancouver. Embarkation on 18 June. June 15 - Day-3. Take off at 8:00 am, arrive Vancouver at 10:00 am local time, transfer by luxury bus, comfortable, to take the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island, a journey of nearly 1:30. It's not nice, 14-15 degrees; rain and thick fog during much of the crossing. We take a small dinner at the ship's self-serve restaurant; while it is not cheap, at least, variety and quality are there; we begin to fraternize a little more with our compatriots of the group, We take a seat on the bus, and we go to meet our local French-speaking guide, a friendly resident of Victoria for over 40 years, for a pleasant city tour but punctuated by showers ... Transfer to our hotel and freestyle evening. June 16 - Day-2 Disastrous breakfast at the hotel, then lead to the visit of Butchart Gardens. The place is beautiful, huge, but the hour and a half we were allocated was not enough, we had to go back to the bus before we saw it all (this is one of the constraints of traveling in group). Return to Vancouver aboard a newer ferry, probably a little bigger, including a buffet restaurant. Partly cloudy, allowing us to take some nice pictures. Transfer to our hotel for 2 nights. Free walks around, and Canada Place, the cruise terminal, are 1.5 km, a walk of about 20 minutes. We will see before the arrival of ours, several ships docked including the Holland America Niew Amsterdam, the Star Princess and the Crystal Serenity. We stop for a short supper on our own, at the nearby Food Court - Waterfront Center, a diversified and reasonably priced food fair. June 17 - Day-1 Breakfast at the hotel, a well-stocked and quality buffet this time ... We meet for our city tour our local guide, knowledgeable... and installed on the outskirts of Vancouver ... In the city center a lot of construction of business towers and condos, which seems to cost a lot ... I am pleased withthe architectural beauty of these buildings, neighboring older ones. Stopping at Stanley Park, well laid out and quite busy, there are some totems to see. Stop at Granville Island, there is also a lack of time, but I could still see the famous floating houses. After the city tour, free time for quiet walks, a little shopping, etc. It crawls from everywhere despite the weather not so clement. Then we think and anticipate our embarkment the next day... June 18th - Day 1 - Embarkation. Heavy breakfast at the hotel, bus to the cruise terminal ... Cloudy with showers. You may be on a Sunday, but there is an important traffic, since at the port there are several ships to fill ... But hey, finally it's embarkation. In the process at the terminal we go through the US customs. Once on board, little sparkling wine, and with the Today "Early Edition" in hand, the group disperses to go on each own and for a quick lunch ... This time, my experience makes me avoid the Oceanview Café, too busy, we go to the Spa Café, adjacent to the indoor pool, for a good healthy lunch, it's very small but there is hardly anyone! A short reconnaissance tour of the ship, it reminds us of the Constellation that we sailed 6 years ago, and despite the renovations, we noticed everywhere several elements betraying its 16 years of age. A little later we go to see if our cabin is ready (balcony cat 2B, bridge 8); smaller than on Solstice class ships, there are also signs of wear, including on furniture and especially in the bathroom. The small shower has a curtain, the caulking is stained with several blackish molds, the grout of the ceramic looks dirty and I will learn later from our stateroom steward that it had been redone with epoxy grout (tiles were obviously not cleaned rapidly) ... There is a clothesline in the shower, it's quite weird to see this... After having changed clothing, we go to the Muster Drill scheduled at 15:30, then to the bridge 11 to attend the departure at 16:30 .... Despite the sullen weather, feverishness is palpable. Unlike the majority of the group, my wife and I chose the 'Select Dining' so we could go for supper at our leisure between 5.30pm and 9:00pm (same schedule for the entire cruise). Even if we were invited to book, without reservation, between 5.30pm and 6pm, we never waited more than 2-3 minutes ... While there was often a good line on the side with reservation. Celebrity Showtime: Lou Gazzara, versatile vocalist, a beautiful repertoire and a great presence on stage. June 19 - Day 2 - At Sea (Inside Passage) It's not complicated, we did not see much of the famous inside passage, given the weather (low clouds, rain, etc). On the other hand, there was the conference "Beyond the Podium - MickeyLive", Mickey being a great lecturer, knowledgeable and visibly at ease with audiovisual technology. The rest of the day, nothing special. Celebrity Showtime - Boogie Wonderland, a musical revue focusing on the 70s. Quite good. Tonight we set watches 1 hour back.. June 20th - Day 3 - Sitka AK Arrival at 10:00 am, cloudy weather but it will not rain much, eventually. Celebrity Excursion (SI14), which combines the historical and cultural aspects of the city (historical park, Tlingit culture, Naa Kahidi dance) and a visit to the Raptor center. Interesting but the schedule was a bit tight, we had to shorten the visit to some places (eg, since the dance show was good but redundant, it could have been shorter). Tonight, no show for us: a certain Bengt Washburn, standup comedy ... No interest for us.. June 21 - Day 4 - Hubbard Glacier (navigation) Exceptionally we were given access to the front of the ship (level bridge 6) to admire the landscape, the view is different from what we have decks 11 or 12. Outdoor temperature about 8-9 Celcius degrees. I must say that I felt "at the end of the world" ... I imagine that those who have already cruised in Antarctica may think I am impressionable ... We were disappointed that the ship had not approached the glacier, - was there a good reason? And the dull weather did not help for taking good quality pictures. Celebrity Showtime: «Star Factory», lively, beautiful musical and acrobatic performances, beautiful costumes, etc. June 22 - Day 5 - Juneau AK Excursion Celebrity (JU33): Basically, the visit of the Mendenhall Glacier and its visitor Center, views of the surroundings with beautiful photo opportunities and interesting little film where I learned about the glaciers; then we go to the "Gold Creek Salmon Bake" for a picnic buffet in a nice environment to savor wood fire grilled wild Alaskan salmon, a delight! (There is also grilled chicken). In accompaniment, various salads, potatoes, etc, and delicious "Chilkoot" beans! Chansonnier on site for musical atmosphere. A beautiful outing. Our travel guide invited us to have a drink at the "Red Dog Saloon" (with floors covered with a good layer of sawdust, a tradition... Celebrity Showtime with Sean O'Shea, singer and talented impersonator, with energy and humor. June 23rd - Day 6 - Ketchikan AK Last of our 3 stops, arrived at 2:00PM, the small town is friendly and we can explore a good part by foot without problem. Excursion Celebrity (KE61): guided tour of historical sites including a park of totems, and lumberjack show. Celebrity Showtime: "Duo Destiny", Gonçalo and Kinga, a couple of acrobats frankly surprising. Tonight we set watches 1 hour forward. June 24 - Day 7 - At Sea (Inside Passage) This time the weather is on our side, we can observe the landscape and the temperature rises quickly, about 25 Celsius degrees (it will have made more than 28 degrees in Vancouver). Swimming and sunbathing for many passengers ... Celebrity Showtime: iBroadway, a colorful and typically American style show of recent and older hits. We do not put our luggage in the corridor tonight, we'll leave carrying them tomorrow morning. June 25 - Disembarkation The process is going well, both on board and in port. At the airport it's going bad, at the AC check-in counter it is very long for lack of open desks... Vancouver-Montreal flight without problem. Back home! Conclusion: although I have always appreciated Celebrity, we see that cuts have still been made. We still eat well but it is not the same ... For example, one lunchtime, exceptionally we went to the dining room and my dish really was not the way we could get of Celebrity (ground meat containing "crunchy", badly cooked peas and dubious appearance ...) I mentioned my disappointment to the waiter, who by his reply let me believe that I was not the only one to have told him. As far as the Oceanview Café is concerned, I prefer the island arrangement on Solstice class ships. On this itinerary there were many Asians and Indians on board, and every day, this is normal, a large part of the counters offered dishes from their countries ... While on the other hand other counters lacked variety. We have nothing against exotic foods but not every day ... The Infinity is a comfortable but dated vessel, the staff is benevolent but less visible, except during marketing operations, obviously ... It becomes harassing crew members trying to sell drinks or dining packages, etc. .... By the way, there is now only one stateroom steward, no more assistant. I also noticed a reduction in the Captain's Club benefits .... Now it's enough to make us ogle on other companies. Finally, depending on the circumstances, a group travel may prove to be interesting and advantageous; I think this time it was and we liked it... But the ship is disappointing. Read Less

I love Bermuda, wanted a longer cruise than 7 nights, AND throw in America's Cup too-What's not to like. Stopped in Boston to see the Tall Ships. Great itinerary. Loved the Captains comments everyday. She was very out going and we had the opportunity to meet her. Nice lady. Getting onboard was a breeze, as was departing the ship at the end. I was very impressed. The food was wonderful! Shrimp cocktails, escargot, French onion soup were available every night as was crème brulee. My compliments to the Chef. Great menu and food in the main dining room Like the shampoo and soap in the cabin. A step above most other lines! They also had lecturers on board...My husband and I love that! Entertainment was very good-especially the late night comedy! On the deck for the America's Cup race, we were offered iced facecloths and they had a bar set up for our convenience. Captain had the observation deck facing the races.... Love the Solarium.... Onboard rest rooms were immaculate! Great job! We really enjoy sailing with Celebrity and the Summit is a great ship! We just had a wonderful week on the Summit that went to Bermuda. Third time to Bermuda and always want to go back. The water and the beaches are beautiful and safe. We celebrated our 35 th anniversary with our family. We had 4 cabins (sweet sixteen) cabins with the extended balcony, The balconies were the biggest we ever had. It was big enough to have our marriage vows renewal on the balcony with all eight of us on it. Nice perk but the only problem the floors and chairs got salty when then washed upper cabins. Just wipe the chairs off and enjoy the extra room. The staff on the ship are all welcoming, friendly and hard working. The food in the main dining room was always well prepared and tasty. We ate in Quisine one evening and all eight of us with ages ranging from 22-60 found the experience and food worth the extra cost. The entainment has improved a lot since our last Celebrity Cruise. Bands, guitarist, violinist and DJ were great. We didn't attend any shows other than the comedian who was good. All of us loved the last night silent dance club by the martini bar. What a fun way to end a cruise. We loved the size of the Summit . You can always get a chair somewhere in the sun or shade. The ship has been updated in common areas and looks great. The cabins are showing some wear but so what if it is clean. We updated our alcohol package but not sure I would do that again since I felt the wine in the classic package was fine. Overall we all had a great time and would recommend Celebrity Cruises to multiage families. Read Less

Captain Kate is the best on the seas. This is reflected in all her crew. Fabulous cruise, fantastic meals, everyone was so great to be with. CLEAN great shows, and warm comforting rooms. Donovan in the dining for breakfast, wow, makes every day so special. The specialty dining is not to be missed. Come hungry. We were invited to escort the Americas Cup team in the Bermuda Day parade with the ETA motorcycle cruise group and this ship served as our base camp. What a great experience and the staff was so great to us. There is fun for all if you seek it or hide out. We love the deck over the bridge, quite, wind is blocked, fantastic views, and just so nice with out the pool side noise and still have waiter service. Easy walk to the bars, restrooms, lounges (Revelations), dinning, pool deck snack bar. This is a great ship to go on. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to travel on this itinerary and enjoy our extra perks on Celebrity. By using Cruise Critic Roll Call prior to the trip, it greatly enhanced our experience, and we made so many more friends both during and before we sailed. The outside Entertainment brougt in was excellent however the Production Cast and shows were both sub par and not aimed at the guest, but at their own self desire and taste. When the average age of the guest is 55 plus, then the music and songs should be more popular and mainstream. The only real issue with disembarkment at ports was in Russia. Although I cannot hold Celebrity and how long it took the first day to process off the ship and to their tours (it took well over 1 1/2 hours) they made the situation worse, when they mored people on Celebrity tours up on line in front of those waiting more than an hour. It nearly created a riot and fighting. Read Less
