First Transatlantic

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Celebrity Equinox

First transatlantic crossing but have cruised many other times. Pleasantly surprised. The 8 sea days went by very quickly. Weather was cool so did not stay outdoors much but we were not bored. Lectures were good. Entertainers were good but to many singers. Only disappointment were shore excursions. Went on 6 of them. With the exception of 2, once off tour bus you could not hear guide. They ...

Wonderful Transtlantic Experience on Equinox

My husband was hesitant to go on a Transatlantic cruise on this size ship, worrying about crowds. Our only other cruise experience was on ships with less than 900 passengers. We were pleasantly surprised in many ways and had a fabulous time! People seemed to be spread through out the ship, everyone with their particular passion, ours was ballroom dance (wish they had more dances in the Sky ...

Fantastic Staff, Exciting Entertainment, Disappointed by Food

While it was our first TransAtlantic cruise, it was not our first cruise. The live entertainment in the theater each night was outstanding, very talented performers. The staff have been trained to provide exemplary service, and our cabin steward quickly ascertained our habits such that while we rarely saw him, his presence and attentiveness were ever present. While we can understand the ...

Not Up to Our Previous Experience on the Reflection

We sailed the Celebrity Reflection from Rome thru the Eastern Mediterranean in 2013 and it was a wonderful experience. With that in mind we choose the Celebrity Equinox for our first Transatlantic crossing ending in Barcelona. We have sailed often from Fort Lauderdale as it is only three and half hours from Sarasota. We spend the night before in the Hilton just across from Port Everglades, drop ...

We decided to take a repositioning cruise to get to Barcelona as we had booked a cruise to the Baltic leaving from Barcelona the day after we disembarked (on a different cruise line). We had a Sky Suite and Luminae, the new restaurant dedicated to suite guests had opened 3 weeks prior. The suite was great with views out the balcony and large porthole on the other side of the cabin. The pole ...

Transatlantic on Equinox

My first transatlantic sailing turned into a very pleasant and relaxing experience, thanks to the Equinox crew who are universally excellent. To a certain extent, this sailing was two vacations in one, the first week at sea and the second a bunch of stops in some superb locations. The weather wasn't bad although not warm enough to be sitting outside for long during the crossing. We had a couple of ...

Could have been better

We have sailed 21 times from a range of average to luxury ships and have found that Celebrity has normally offered the best quality to price ratio. This was our third trans-Atlantic cruise and we chose a Sky suite category, which was spacious, and comfortable with adequate storage closets and drawers. Unfortunately, our room was located right under a huge overhang platform above, and shut out any ...

Not at All What I Expected!

This was my first TA cruise, so am not too sure exactly what I expected. I was very concerned that 6 straight days at sea would be too much and boy, was I wrong. There were many things to do and I kept busy every day. We met so many CruiseCritic members at sail-away that we began running into people we knew. Then the Celebrity Cruise Critic get-together the next day reinforced how much we were ...

Being from Florida, we wanted to sail from Fort Lauderdale or Miami and REALLY loved their itinerary. This was a very extensive itinerary for a repositioning cruise. The food was fabulous and we really enjoyed the entertainment, especially the lectures on the upcoming ports. The ports were: The Azores, Lisbon, Portugal, Cadiz, Spain, Malaga, Spain, Alacante, Spain and Barcelona, Spain. The ...

Excellent cruise

Returned earlier this week from October 27/14 transatlantic departing from Barcelona on Equinox. Excellent cruise, great service, great staff, great weather (only one crappy day of rain on the Atlantic and a few showers in Tenerife). Sunshine and pool time during most of the crossing. Newbies to fall transatlantics were shocked by how warm the weather was. Ship is in great ship and staff willing ...
