This was our 6th Celebrity cruise. The embarkation took 2 hours! The entertainment was below average and repetitive. Normally the music throughout the ship is professional but this trip it was horrible. We could not find one thing to do or listen to on a sea day. The educational programs were a joke. This was a Jazz theme cruise and they made no effort to incorporate more jazz into their programs except for a port day in New Orleans when we all were out at the Jazz fest. The food at the main dining room was mostly good with a few disappointing menu nights. What saved the cruise for us was the high quality of service we received across the ship. And the Murano and the Sushi on Five were incredibly good. Overall, the way the ship was managed shows that Celebrity is slipping in some areas. Maybe time for a look at Princess......... Read Less

The glaring issues were the poor, never to be seen cruise director and THE WORST DJ at sea. A cruise director should be seen about the ship all day and night long. I have no idea where the cruise director John could possibly be at any given time, but it was NOT entertaining the guests. He did make an appearance every night after the shows in the theater for about three minutes, never to be seen again, except for his way-too-hard music trivia. The Activities Director, Justin, was the main source of entertainment on this ship. He was constantly around anytime anything was going on around the ship. He refereed the pool games, taught line dance classes and generally made sure we all had a great time. The DJ was horrific at all times. He could not mix music together in any way, shape or form. Why wear headphones on your ears if you don't know how to use them to mix. Plus, mixing is not done on a DJ controller and a laptop pc, so it's super easy if you have even a drop of talent, which DJ Garcia did not. Every time a new song was getting ready to play, you could hear him stutter or scratch the intro of the next song. It was jarring to the ears and the music was plain bad, If nobody is on the dance floor, change up the music. Those big negatives are why I gave the cruise a three star review. On the positive side, staff, service and food were all excellent. We ate in both the dining room and in the buffet and found them both to be consistently good every night. My only complaint about the food, is the lack of a late-night or 24 hour eatery, like most other cruise lines offer. This was especially important since we two overnight stays in New Orleans. People stumbling back to the ship at 2 or 3 am had nothing to eat since the buffet closes at midnight and even the buffet is VERY limited after dinner hours. The ship was clean and well-maintained. The staff excelled in every way in every department. We had the classic drink package and never had to wait for drinks at any of the bars. Servers were constantly asking us poolside if we needed more drinks, which was nice. The shows were good, but not great. The ship cast has many shortcomings when it comes to singing. There was only one woman, Ashlie-Amber that could sing and she did it well. She needs to be a real recording artist. The others were average and downright bad. All three productions shows were medleys of songs with no plot or theme, so they were boring. Most ships now show Broadway musicals, like Hairspray, Chicago, etc. Read Less

This was a brand new itinerary for Celebrity. We were the first ship of our size to enter the Mississippi and dock at Julia Pier. We had to go thru immigration since we had been in the Caribbean. Because the port authorities and customs people were not fully prepared for all of us, it took us around 5 hours for all the passengers to disembark and then immediately embark right back on the ship. But, Mardi Gras was a good experience. The ship is a little old and dated. Decor was typical. Service was typical. Occasionally you do encounter a crew member that goes above and beyond his job. Our assistant waiter in the main dining room was awesome. We keep asking him for keylime pie. We were told only in the main dining room at lunchtime. We never could find any, finally on of our last nights he did bring us some. Read Less
