We booked this cruise as part of a group of 7. This was to celebrate 3 people's birthday and reunite with old friends. We couldn't have picked a better cruise or ship! Everyone enjoyed the cruise with very few complaints. Embarkation was a breeze. We were a bit delayed due to a coast guard inspection but it was a short delay. We were on the ship by 11:30. The ship was beautiful. There were a few areas that showed wear but we know she will be going into dry dock soon. The headliners in the theater were great. We had 2 different comedians who were extremely good. I did not enjoy the Celebrity crew production shows but that is a matter of taste. The dining room staff was good but not great. There were a few mistakes made but everything was corrected quickly. My only complaint with the food was that there was not enough variety in their offerings and when choosing from the "always on the menu" items, these were not very good at all. The steak was thin and tough and the chicken dry. We enjoyed the adult atmosphere of the ship. Everyone was respectful of others and the entertainment in the lounges was very good. Very seldom did you see any children. This was by far the bet buffet (Ocean View Café) I've ever experienced. I use a mobility scooter and someone was always there to assist me with my food, drinks and finding a table. The area was easy to maneuver around. There were always places to sit. I would recommend this ship. I don't think it would be good for those with a young family or a younger crowd. Read Less

Having cruised Celebrity 4 times previously we talked our parents into there first cruise..We were really embaressed by what we had recommended to them throughout our cruise..They spent allot of there savings to come with us and I wish I could afford to reimburse them....we upgraded to concierge class and drinks package but found it to be the same size cabin as a balcony cabin only with bathrobes, umbrella and binoculars??? You always get your bottled water in your room but our parents got charged $6 dollars plus $99 cents gratuity to drink it (even though we had paid a hefty price per person for the drinks package.. We were on anytime dining another extra cost we paid and each night we had to walk the length of the dining room to a far corner dark table (having passed many empty tables for four)..where we had to use the candle to see the menu..it was terrible and service very slow. One night we had to leave our sweet orders due to going to the 9 pm show as we wouldn't get a seat in the theatre. Then the show was terrible with 30% walking out and that happened three times on this cruise. Sun beds were taken no matter what time you got to the pool with people putting towels on numerous beds then not using them. No staff monitoring the situation. The bars after paying for our drinks package ran completely out of beer, Grouse whiskey, Bailey's and Coke, lemonade and the last two days even water...come on the amount of money we paid we should have been able to get a drink. The staff were slow and we only saw our room attendant twice in 12 days..the room got made up but towels and a bathrobe went missing and we had not used it... Not saying it was stolen it just got taken from the room. The Captain Kate seemed to be making herself known to the passengers and everyone liked her modern approach to cruising but for all the above reasons her staff are not taking her serious and she is NOT KEEPING A TIGHT SHIP...she needs to get her staff organised and ordering the correct volume of drinks that we are paying for. I don't see her as a Captain for very long.....I will not cruise Equinox again it's an older ship with lots of wasted areas..THIS IS NOT A 5* ship my advice is to try an alternative or go RC..... Just returned from the 10 day S.Carribbean trip on Equinox and had a wonderful time. stayed at the Marriott Renaissance near the port , and it is perfect for a one night stay and close to both airport and port. Check in was a breeze the next morning about 1115 with few there, and we sat, assuming we would be on shortly. Shortly turned in to a 3 hour delay. While there were a number of reasons why, all of which could have been valid, the problem was not the delay, but the lack of communications between the port and the pax as to what was going on and what the current status was. The longer we waited, the more cranky people became, and the more they turned to uncivil behavior. There were not nearly enough staff to communicate and control lines and the potential for people to get hurt became real. We noticed the same lack of adequately trained personnel on disembarkation which was also poorly run. Port Everglades, as the operator should address this asap. That said, and with tempers running hot, we finally got on board and with that little glass of Champagne X hands you as you step aboard, we literally entered a different world. We had a great trip on this ship! 13th cruise, 30 years USN/R, I have never seen a cleaner ship with higher crew morale. When the young man folding towels in one of the spotless men's heads perfectly day after day tells you he he only happy if the guests are happy, that tells you that the crew is focused on mission. I saw this repeatedly on this ship. Food and wine service was excellent, and at times seemed almost effortless, speaking highly of training and again morale. Show quality seemed a little off, mostly because of the material, I think, but the performers were uniformly working hard. I felt the amount and types of music were very good, particularly the outdoor concert on the lawn which was fun. This cruise, 10 days over Presidents week is a little longer than most families can do, and it reflected in few children aboard and an older demographic, but a great time on a great ship. Read Less

Overall, this was a great cruise... 10 night Southern Caribbean. Embarkation: Almost effortless! We had rented a minivan to drive to Port Everglades from Tampa Intertnational Airport. We dropped of half the group at the ship, while 2 of us returned the car to FLL airport. We were on the ship within 15 minutes. Wonderful to have a champagne reception! Our last cruise was on Carvnival (only because it was a special charter; would NEVER sail on Carnival again unless I had to!). We headed to the buffet area ... what a mess! Everyone was there and no one was willing to give up their space to let anyone eat. Within 30 minutes, we were able to access our cabin. We head read online how great the Solstice cabins were. Yes ... very pretty, but not that efficient. We packed more efficiently for this cruise than ever before ...thank God! We found the storage much less than on all other cruises. The bathroom was great .. no concerns. We didn't care for the closet with sliding doors. Very difficult to get access to the closet at the same time! The few drawers were quickly filled. We were fortunate that everything else fit in the 2 bins above the bed. While we don't watch much TV in the cabin, the choice of channels was pretty limited. Great if you were into politics; if you wanted entertainment, you better like E! We were surprised at the photo galary on the TV monitor! Within hours of boarding, we had a photo of the 2 couples from our boarding. How did they know where we "live" just by taking a photo?? The couple we traveled with even received copies of our photos that had nothing to do with them. Not impressed with this "technology" Loved the behind the scene tour associated with Captains Club. The tour was great! Also enjoyed the Aqua Spa for relaxation and quiet and for their great lunches. Wish they played different music ... the trance music got to be annoying. I forgot all my books at home ... had great choices from the library! We weren't impressed with the entertainment. 4 vocalists; the others were dancers and fluff. The key singers weren't great, but it was entertaining. What we really hated was the fact that people showed up in the theater 2 days early to save seats! We tried Select Dining and had a 630pm reserved table every night. We felt like we had to rush thru dinner to get to the theater on time to make sure we got a seat. What time did the others get there??? We never had an opportunity to sit with all 6 of us together. Dining... Good food, Pretty good service. Definately better food and service than our last cruise (Carnival ... only because it was a special charter). Sometimes the servers disappeard for 15-20 minutes ... not sure what they were doing. One night we had dinner in the buffet area .. great pasta and we then enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Aqua Spa and hot tub to ourselves. Overall food was good. Loved the AM omelets and fresh fruit. (Last cruise: canned fruit on Carvinal). Only complaint was HORRIBLE coffee in the buffet area. When we added hot water and lots of milk, it was tolerable. Ice cream buffet was pretty good; some servers had major attitude.... not sure why they were so nasty. Gay/Lesbian get togethers were published but never attended. Attended the speaker program related to making coffee books of photos. The speaker had great ideas, but didn't know how to present. As a professional presentor, I don't let any "helpers" leave the room until I know the AV equipment works. She excused the techs and then complained day after day that she didn't have full access to technology. There was a daily happy hour offering 2-4-1 in the Passport Bar. You can't imagine how many people showed up! Seems to me that they could make a fortune if they frequently offered 2-4-1 drinks! The music was so loud during these 2-4-1 events ... you could not talk to your neighbors. Debarkation: Fabulous! We were off the ship within 10 minutes of calling our number (2). Housekeeping: good. No complaints. Nothing special. Did not do any tours sponsored by the ship. Thought the stop at Roseau, Dominica was a waste. The city is poor and we were uncomfortable walking abound town. We were constantaly hassled by locals. Great day at Orient Beach in St. Martin. St. Kitts: Aggressive locals trying to get you to take tours and taxis. Won't get off the boat next time! Love cruising, love Celebrity. Wish they wouldn't nickle and dime you like the other cruise companies ... Couldn't believe the number of people who didn't pay attention to the emergency briefling. So many folks talked through the briefing. Considering that a Costa cruise was drifting in the water due to a fire, people should have had the deccency to shut up and pay attention (or at least pretend). Read Less
