My soul mate and I selected this cruise to cruise on Celebrity to Barcelona last year. We are Elite members and had enjoyed sailing with Celebrity. My soul mate went to the Lord in February. Since the cruise was scheduled for April 15 and we were traveling with friends I decided to continue on the cruise. I called Celebrity and told them my wife of 63 years passed away and still desired to go on the cruise. They said fine but the cost for a single cabin is 200% for the Sky Suite you booked. I repeat 200%. The same as two people in the cabin. I hope Celebrity enjoys the money they charged my wife while she is in heaven. Once on the ship I went to the Spa to use the stream room. i was to told I could not use the stream room because I was not on the Aqua deck. I am in the Sky Suite which cost more and a Elite member and was told if I wanted to pay $140 I could use the stream room. I don't know who makes the rules but they need to reconsider. My cabin attendant was outstanding. In fact all of the staff were just great. The food was very good. The bar attendant in the special room for suites was truly outstanding. All most every night she was the only bar tender and she worked so hard to mix drinks, serve the drinks and clean all the tables. she deserve a medal. Read Less

We have now sailed on all the s class ships. We prefer the silhouette due to the lawn club grill however we really enjoyed the gastropub on the Equinox. A good use of the space instead of cellar masters plus we enjoyed the sports on the televisions. We booked this primarily for the amazing itinerary. Barcelona is one the easier ports and a pleasure to spend a few days in. We stayed at the Majestic and found it to be excellent. Great location and service. A last minute sale allowed us to book a sky suite so we were able to enjoy Luminae, the suite dining room. We found the dining room to be lovely, well staffed by great crew and the food to be good. We appreciated the option of the main dining room menu as well and enjoyed hot food. We usually gamble quite a bit (no shows for us) however the casino was unusually quiet and didn't attract us this time. Also, with such big tour days we relaxed after dinner and had early nights. We spent a lot of time in cafe de bacio. We love the central location, the coffee and drink options. A great spot for people watching too! Disembarkation in Barcelona couldn't have been easier. We loved the ship. It was clean, the crew was friendly and we were made to feel very welcomed. Read Less

I think this may be a long one! We have cruised a few times now, formally on Royal Caribbean most recently Celebrity S Class ships. This trip was on Equinox. We had the virus cleanup before we got on board so we boarded late - a drag as you have to wait around after your flight but worth it as far as I'm concerned. I was not bothered for the first 4 days that we were served or that I had to use the santiser 10 times a time - we remained healthy the whole trip and if there was illness on board nobody was talking about it. We had an obstructed new balcony (guaranteed - you take your chance) This is the fist time we've actually had the life boat but again, lovely to have a balcony and just had to look upwards if I wasn't reading my book! We shared a table of 8 and had the best companions apart from the time we went with friends. We like meeting people but you often take your chance but this time we hit the jackpot. We thought the food was top notch, the sommelier and our wait staff were fabulous - nothing was too much trouble. Our assistant waiter did not warm or make the effort for 13 nights but always did his job so no complaints. Our room was clean and tidy all the time. We didn't see them other than our first day on board. I like to see them but I know that's a matter for debate. Only one towel animal the whole week but chocolates on the pillow every night - who does have room to eat those! The ocean view was always busy but again, although not piping hot the food was of a very high standard and we were never short of something to eat. We eat in Silk Harvest one night and Tuscan Grill. We enjoyed both. Because of friends we got a discount for the Tuscan Grill so well worth it - food, views and service are great. I prefer Quisine to Silk Harvest but that doesn't mean it wasn't good. We really enjoyed the entertainment. Saw 2-3 good singers - 2 good ship productions - 1 outstanding ship production a funny comedian - always helps and a juggler and ventriloquist both which we enjoyed. If you are used to cruise entertainment then you won't be disappointed - I sometimes wonder what people expect. This was our first classic drinks package trip and again well worth it - not in money terms as we are not big drinkers but if only for the convenience of having water available every day for you just to pick up and to have a decent coffee after dinner and not to be signing all the time. We really enjoyed the ports even the ones we'd been to before. I will only mention the ones that we did something that may be helpful. Toulon - we went to the beach, had a fabulous day. There is no public transport on a Sunday. The tourist desk as you get off the boat need to call you a cab if you want one. They say you can pick one up at the entrance was you couldn't. Malta - DO NOT TAKE THE HOP ON HOP OFF BUS in the hot summer months. We have made this mistake twice! Organise a trip with your roll call to see what you want. If you got off at Mdina it was difficult to get back on and people that did then had to stand for about an hour and a half. Not fun. You get stuck in traffic and go back via the coast. Messina - went to Taormina (or something like that) Took public transport which was fine but you need to get the fast 9.40 bus and then if you can work it out properly get one of the quicker trains back or even better organise a cab before hand with a large number of people. I have just finished reading several disappointing reviews of Celebrity Equinox European cruises. I must respectfully disagree! My family loved this cruise! My family recently took the seven night cruise from Istanbul to Rome and I must say it was fantastic! This was our fourth cruise but the first time with Celebrity. The Equinox was beautiful, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. The crew was generally quite friendly and accommodating. We sailed Aqua class and I believe this was a worthwhile upgrade as we enjoyed the rapid check in, the daily canapés, the access to the spa (where I enjoyed a wonderful massage during the one day at sea), and, especially, the access to Blu where we had dinner every evening. The staff at Blu - particularly Jesue, Sebastiao, and sommelier Nica were wonderful and made us feel like family. I also enjoyed the on-board evening entertainment with my favorites being the shows with the Equinox performers who sang, danced, and entertained like they came straight from Broadway (which I guess they did)! The ports of call on this cruise included Istanbul, Mykonos, Valletta, Catania, and Salerno. They were all wonderful but we particularly enjoyed Mykonos, where we booked a fabulous excursion to the ancient island of Delos (the birthplace of Apollo), and Catania where we visited Mount Etna and quaint Taormina. Our cabins were well appointed and clean. It seemed like every time we left our cabin, not matter for how short a time, the stewards cleaned! The bathroom was fairly spacious for a cruise and the shower was excellent! We also found the staff to be responsive to complaints. We had one small issue with some laundry. Generally, one should try not to do laundry on board a cruise if possible, as it is extremely expensive per item. We did under-pack a little though and had to have some personal item laundered. The clothing did not smell fresh when it was returned and one item was damaged. The staff at the hospitality desk immediately and happily refunded the cost of the laundry and gave additional credit to replace the damaged item. I would certainly expect no less, but it was nice to see that they were completely committed to our satisfaction. If there was any one thing I found a little disappointing, it was the service in the Oceanview Café. The food was OK for a buffet but after the first day (where the wait staff did really push the upgraded beverage package!) we actually had a hard time getting any wait staff to come to our table for beverages. We only used this venue for breakfasts/brunch, so I guess to grab a quick bite before getting off the ship for the day it was OK, but not up to standards Celebrity would probably like to meet. As noted above though, Blu was superb and accounts for my dining rating below! This was the best cruise vacation we have ever taken and I enthusiastically recommend Equinox and this wonderful Mediterranean cruise! Read Less
