Excellent ship, food, staff, service, never felt crowed, very organized getting on and off the ship. Loved being on the 6th Level, close to the Cafe below which was amazing (though a bit dark at times could use a bit more light there)...Alot to do, without over doing it, and feeling like you missed out on something. Entertainment as well was great, enjoyed the Paul McCartney show and Comedian as well as other shows. I picked this particular ship as we had never cruised Celebrity, rather then picking by the destinations, but to our surprise, Key West, Mexico and Grand Cayman Islands were more then we expected, The specialty were fantastic. Tuscan Grill was our favorite we could have gone again, but they were booked. Murano was good as well, we went at 6pm and the service was amazing. If your looking for rock climbing, skating rink, slides, this is not the cruise for you, if you want excellent service, food, entertainment and a relaxing holiday, this is the ship for you....again Quality, not Quantity. First Celebrity cruise, but definitely not the last., and we are looking forward to our next cruise on Celebrity. Read Less

My husband and I decided to cruise on the Celebrity Equinox because it had great reviews and was named one of the top cruise ships. We cruised 7 days out of Fort Lauderdale. The ship is huge and beautiful. The main dining room was elegent and perfect. The staff and crew on the ship was friendly and helpful. we had 1st class service through the duration of our trip. However, the activities offered on board is vey limited. Each day we would get an agenda with the days activities delivered to our cabin and was disappointed in what was offered. Most activities were not included and had an additional charge. Most of what was offered was just a ploy to get you to spend more money. There was a "Jewelry Making Class" that I attended. The agenda stated that guests would learn the craft of jewelry making and then take those skills to create their own unique piece of jewelry. We showed up for the class and was brought to a display case with pandora-type charms and bracelets. The "jewelry Making Class" was to pick out a charm and put it on a bracelet, this was their idea of making jewelry. Of course the price of the charm and bracelet were an additional charge. The ship had art and jewelry auctions that were absolutely ridiculous. All pieces had an outrageous reserve price. There is good information about Park West art auctions on the internet and I would highly advise anyone taking a cruise to read the stories and reviews. My husband and I felt like the entire cruise we were pressured into buying something "extra." We were also bombarded daily with crew members trying to sell us drink or dining packages. We were basically harrassed at dinner daily with by waiter trying to sell us bottles of wine. I overheard a group of kids complaining about the lack of activities and how unhappy they were. I totally agree with them, this cruise is not for kids. My overall opinion of Celebrity is not very positive. We were rather disappointed in our cruise and will try a different cruise line next year. Wife and I decided to book cruise since the Hard Rock vacation didn’t turnout very good last year at Punta Cana with her getting bad sick. As title says this was our 1st so nothing to compare to other than resorts we stayed at. Overall it was a very good vacation. Our room attendant was top notch along with our waiters in the dining room we ate dinner at. I’ll just give review step be step as I remember it. Flew from MSY to FLL where Celebrity people where waiting on us to bus us to ship. All went well except bus driver was annoying about getting tips for loading luggage. Luggage went straight from bus to rooms which was nice except again the guys moving them seem like something bad could happen to them if they didn’t get tipped. Once on the ship I thought the breakfast, lunch and dinner were pretty good to be serving that many people. We even loved the hamburgers and hotdogs served by the pool and ate lunch there several times. We bought the drink package which we didn’t drink as much as I figured we would. Think we got to drunk the first couple days and calmed way down after that. We never tried any of the restaurants that cost extra but I heard some people saying they were better than what the normal dining was but we were fine with it. The majority of the crew were very hard workers and were very professional compared to resorts we stayed in before. I thought the pools would be bigger but most people rather laying around them which the ship had lots of chairs in the sun and under shade roofs which was very nice. Only complaint was the bed/chairs around the pool are packed so tight it hard getting in and out of them. The crew in this area done a very good job but there were two taller blacks guys working the upper pool deck bar being aggressive for tips. We tipped around $150 to the staff but when people act this way they get nothing from us. Now that I think about it they were the only staff members we didn’t like so that’s pretty good for that many people. We went to several shows that were very good especially compared to some of the resort shows we been to but maybe not what you would see at a nice Casino we have on the Mississippi coast but these were free without being a big gambler. We upgraded to a room with balcony and it was nice to be able to sit outside. Room was bigger than I expected and in very good shape with a nice bathroom. We have a smaller cruise scheduled with friends in February that we will have an interior room so will know more then if it was worth it. I booked straight from Celebrity and the only thing I was misled about was the dress code. I understood her as there would be a couple dinners that people dressed up for and the rest were nice casual clothes so we were thinking nice shorts and golf shirt or something. After being there I find out they don’t want you sitting at the bars in shorts except if your outside by the pool. I guess everyone already new this but we didn’t so we packed completely wrong. I am fine if that is what is expected but the people booking these need to let us first timers know. We didn’t do any of the excursions because most are not worth the money we have done in the past so elected to just visit the areas on our own. First stop was Key West which is really nice and we rented a motor scooter and had a good time on it exploring the island. I rented it for the whole day and should have just done four hours because in the afternoon it’s packed and hot in the traffic. Next stop was Costa Maya which if you not going on excursions to see the ruins or something I would hang out at the pool. The people at the shops will aggravate you continually to buy something in their shop. They will give you something free and want to see your sea pass. They must be able to charge against it some how and it’s tied to your credit card. I would keep sea pass in your pocket when your not on the ship. Cruise lines should warn about this if they can charge you like that. I may be wrong but why do they insist at seeing it. Next stop was Cozumel which was nice you take a taxi to town for $8 for two people. Lots of shops selling the normal tourist stuff but we finally had enough of them trying to pull you in their shops so we went back to the ship pretty early. Some people said it depends on where you go but we had no idea and just got out where taxi stopped. One couple was saying it’s fun to rent car and drive around island but the way they drive I would be afraid of being in an accident in Mexico. Next stop was Costa Maya which was best place of all. People in the shops didn’t pressure you and they had public beach to hang out on with the best water you could imagine. The stops in Mexico you had to pay for the excursion to beach unless you knew how to get to public beach which it wasn’t advertised on the ship. Also Mexico had a lot of sea grass washing in but the water is beautiful. Next back to Fort Lauderdale and the only issue we had was they got us off ship early then we had to wait till our number came up to get luggage were there were no bathrooms. I suggest carrying your on luggage off so you get off first. We were not told we could do this but many people did. We paid for transportation from airport to ship and back at the end of cruise and the only thing we had trouble with is the bus was not marked on which one we were supposed to be on so had to walk around asking different drivers. But overall we had a very good vacation and would book with Celebrity again. This review is all over the place but I’m sitting in airport waiting on flight and figured I should try and help someone out that never cruised before. Read Less

The Equinox was a beautiful ship. Our stateroom was clean and our Steward, Fatkur, kept it clean and well supplied with everything we needed. All we needed to do was ask for anything we did need. The food in the main dining room, where we ate each night was some of the best we have had. The servers were professional and described what each choice contained or how it was prepared. They could not do enough for us. Our waiter, Michel and assistant, Miguel A. were funny, friendly and knowledgeable. The sommelier, Gesha and the drink waitress Shamora were right there with our wine and drinks. The entertainment was also very good. There were comedians and dancers and an orchestra. We enjoyed it all. We also spent time in the casino. We did a “on and off “bus tour in Key West. Our bus driver was very entertaining. We did a beach day in Cozumel which we thoroughly enjoyed despite the heat. Embarking and disembarking from the ship was so easy. Our entire trip was so relaxing and easily navigated. We would do it again in a minute! Read Less

Cons - Buffet area was way too crowded for breakfast and lunch and it was hard to walk without bumping into people nearly everyday. Dining in Silhouette was also very crowded and dinner took a full 2 hours and staff seemed like it was struggling to keep up. Outside pool also extremely crowded. Also, 4 and 5 year old kids at the bars 11pm at night. And lastly, the cost for internet was really high, they were asking $28.00 just to buy 5 minutes of internet time to print out my plane tickets. Oh, and no towel animals. What the heck. Pros - Embarkation and debarkation were incredibly fast. Staff was very friendly. Service was Spectacular / Excellent overall and the staff worked really hard and deserve a lot of credit. Ship was also absolutely stunning - the furniture, the decor, the art gallery, everything was just so beautifully done. I had the standard balcony cabin on the 7th floor and it was also Amazing. Also noticed new changes this year - beach towels in cabin, new pillows, bath robes, and the mattress was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud! We were also lucky in that we had nice weather, smooth seas, and the ocean breeze / Caribbean air at night was just perfect. In addition, the ship was incredibly clean - you saw a lot of staff cleaning / up-keeping the ship which was good. Our cabin was cleaned twice a day and our room attendant did an amazing job. The public bathrooms were also the cleanest I've ever seen in my entire life and I've been on a lot of cruises. Also, the hand towels in the public restrooms is a great idea. In addition, the entertainment was really excellent. Comedian Billy Garan and Jimmy Carol were a 10 out of 10. And the show "Topper" was great with the dancers in the artistic costumes and beautiful set design. The music throughout the ship was also good and there was LOTS of it - lots of musical shows in the theater, bands / singers at the pool and bars often and singers / band in the grand foyer every night and for the 4th of July party and the Great Gatsby party. There were also a lot more activities on the ship from when I went last year. Also, our cruise director Martin, was the BEST EVER - funny, entertaining, great party host, and he explained things very well. He was an A++ In addition, his dancing elevator scheme was very funny in how he caught passengers off guard in the elevator during the Great Gatsby party, and made them dance to get to their floor. The Food was u n b e l i e v a b l e. The quality and variety of food at the buffet was Astounding. Ribeye steak cooked to order one night. . as well as calamari, oxtail, chicken pot pie, and all kinds of fancy fish, pork, chicken and beef dishes. Many times the meat was so tender you could cut it with a spoon. Buffet desserts were also epic especially the german chocolate cake, the vanilla cannolis, and the butter cakes. And in the main dining room Silhouette, Superb new york sirloin steak, rack of lamb, shrimp scampi, creme brulee, strawberry cheesecake, and baked alaska. The mixed drinks were also made to perfection and the specialty coffee / espresso at Cafe Al Bacio was really good. Ports - ALL FABULOUS - Costa Maya was my favorite - took the short tram / taxi ride to Mahahaul beach which is the most beautiful beach I've ever been too - crystal clear warm water and no waves and palm trees that come right up to the water. Plus a great boardwalk with shops and cute cafes. However, did not like seeing all the homeless dogs not being cared for by locals and I had to buy them food / clean water for them. Wish I could have took them home with me. Read Less

This cruise was a family reunion of sorts for my significant other's family and I got to tag along. It was my first cruise, but I travel 12-15 times a year and was floored by the amazing level of customer service. I work in customer service and reviews are huge to me but I rarely do them. The ship is about to be completely remodeled, but I didn't notice anything that was in need of remodel. I was very impressed with the decor and the quality of the fixtures, appliances, pool area, dining hall and we even toured the kitchen and it was the cleanest I have seen. We stayed in a cabin (can't recall the name) that was larger than expected with a balcony. Even better there are privacy doors that separate each balcony, but since we were next to family and they removed them so we had just enough privacy but could still walk from balcony to balcony The dining was top notch. We received afternoon "snacks" that were more like gourmet small plates. The regular dining hall was a buffet style with an incredible amount of selection from salad to carved meats to pizza to Mexican to Indian etc. We dined in the Silhouette dining room and our servers were INCREDIBLE. Jennylyn and Sudiasa were two of the best servers I have had. On board the two pools were where we spent most of our time. We did take part in the excursions and they were fun. The one we wanted to do the most was Stingray City in Grand Cayman. It was raining pretty hard that morning so we loaded the passenger ferry and they cancelled it when we got to port which was disappointing. It was not the cruise line's fault but it would have been nice to save the two hours of commuting. I'm certain the island just wanted us to spend some money while we were in port, not a big deal. We attended shows at 9 pm 5 of the 7 nights and I'm not really into that sort of thing, but overall they were impressive. The acrobats and the female lead were especially talented. After the shows we hit the casino which had affordable minimums and was quite fun. THE SILENT DISCO was awesome. They had 3 different stations and people from 5-75 were all dancing to their own beat and it was a GREAT time. Overall the guests were mostly older (probably the main demographic of people that can afford a cruise this nice). There were very few children on the cruise and it was a nice adult getaway. I would definitely go again. And this is my shameless plug for Jennylyn and Sudiasa. They deserve promotions and were great ambassadors for the ship and the brand. Thank you all for an amazing experience! Read Less

Our second cruise aboard the Equinox and we weren’t disappointed. The staff, the food and cabins are all amazing. Captain Kate certainly leads by example and it was lovely seeing her around the ship on a daily basis. We upgraded to Aqua Class this time but to be honest we found that Concierge Class on our last sailing was just a good. We didn’t use the Persian Garden but we enjoyed Blu although the main dining room is every bit as good. The buffet was also exceptional with a great variety of food for every taste. I would not hesitate in recommending the Equinox and her itinerary and will almost certainly be Looking to sail on her again when she comes back from being revolutionised. We are booked to sail on the Constellation, Millennium and the Summit next so it will be interesting to see the difference in ships. I’m sure we won’t be disappointed. Read Less

We chose the Equinox rather late as we decided just before Thanksgiving that we wanted to be on a ship for the New year. Upon looking at available cruises, the Equinox came up as most affordable option of remaining balcony options. We did get the Aqua class and as such got to dine each evening in Blu. The food and service were five star here and we arrived each night at our leisure and got table for 2. Menu in main dining appeared to be a step above RCL, admittedly our favorite cruise line.I neglected to mention that in the Aqua class room you get daily appetizers and fresh tea. You also get access to parts of spa (Relaxation room, steam room, and sauna). Casino was small and disappointing in that the minimums were high for a cruise. Craps min bet was $15 and while they had a single $5 BJ table that was always full, you could always find a seat at $15 and up table. Casino manager never changed these mins the entire cruise. They did have a Texas hold em Poker table that was open sporadically. Entertainment was average at best. They had 3 main production shows that were performed by same group with same stars. Celebrity productions were not Broadway like RCL Oasis class. Enough said. in between shows they would have a one man/woman show that was a magician/comedian or singer/comedian. I did enjoy the Steve Parry. PGA speech about his road to the british open and his chipping demo on the lawn. My favorite bar was the Sunset bar on the back of the ship. Great service and they had either a single or duo performing every afternoon. Cigars welcome there on one side. The Ensemble bar is also a nice place for pre or post dinner libations as they have jazz type entertainment. Other mentionable would be the Martini bar with and ice bar. They do a drink martini show that is quite an event. My seapass card had to be replaced ,i think, 8 times due to being de-magnitized and would not open room. Pathetic that they are still using old technology while sister competitors like RCL use RFID technology which were error free on our cruise in September. Furthermore, the inroom TV was out for 4 of the 7 days! The internet was another bad point. We only had unlimited internet on 2 devices and used our cell phones exclusively, yet we had to continually relog into their internet provider. Again with RCL we logged in once and were done! Really pathetic performance. Celebrity makes a big thing about the lawn areas as a pace to play games such as bocce, croquet, etc. All that I really saw on the lawn was sunbathing. Maybe Celebrity could reserve one area for games and others for sunbathing. And finally with a name like Celebrity would it not be nice to have a unannounced celebrity or 2 for one night only shows? RCL and even Carnival has done this for years. Read Less

First time I sailed with Celebrity Cruises and it was absolutely amazing. It was worth every penny. We were treated first class, the service was second to none. All staff were welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere on the ship was like one big happy family from both staff and guest. The food was of a high standard and a wide variety, fresh and taste was excellent. We were spoilt for choice. Certainly amazed at the standard of cleanliness and the whole operations of the ship. The rooms were spacious, clean and the steward assigned to the room was ver attentive and was very helpful. The facilities met every need of each gues. A variety of activities when at sea, you could do as much or as little as you want. If you take a cruise with Celebrity you will not be disappointed. Good selection of islands stops and use local transport. Highly recommended it will be a cruise liner/company I will be using again. We were visiting Miami from Northern Ireland. We took our flight from Dublin direct with Aer Lingus to Miami 5 days before the cruise, this allowed us a few days to explore the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area. We picked up a hire car for our stay before the cruise then returned it to MIA on the embarkation day. TIP - the taxi drivers are a bit crazy and the set fare seems to be $27 from the airport to Port of Miami. I recommend an Uber - this works out at around $14 and a much comfier ride - head to the car rental ground transportation level and your Uber will find you. Moving on to the cruise, we arrived at the Port of Miami around 11:30am, at this point hopped out of the taxi and had a very awkward greeting from a baggage collector who moved our bags away and immediately turned to us and said "We will load your bags for you, so I will accept tips now and ensure your bags arrive safely". Being a British tourist in a foreign country I gave him $5 for our 3 bags as I wanted to make sure they would definitely get on the ship. TOP TIP – have some small cash handy when you get to the port, by chance I happened to have a $5 in my pocket or it would have been awkward. Next we walked through a quick security check, nothing much to report, just a standard TSA like check but not as strict and then a very quick visit to receive our XpressPass cards and a check of our passports. We have British passports however there were no visa requirements for the countries we were visiting (obviously just ensure you have an ESTA for landing in Miami!). We then proceeded into the ship and did what anyone else would do, headed to the buffet. We skipped breakfast so were very ready for our buffet lunch. The range of food the Oceanview Café had was excellent, pizza stations, carvery’s, Indian and meat stations. We found a nice area out at the back with lovely views of Miami, including the AA arena and the Miami Causeway. Whilst we were eating an announcement came over to PA to say rooms were ready 45 minutes ahead of schedule, we were excited as we had booked a balcony room, number 7125. After 2 or 3 lunches each we decided to check out the room, the Atrium of the ship is incredible, I have previously sailed with Princess and NCL, I was told Celebrity were one of the best and they didn’t disappoint. Being from the UK we have been beat up financially by Brexit and the exchange rates so any opportunity to save money was welcome, we ended up booking a balcony room through a US company cheaper than an inside cabin on the Celebrity Website. I won’t go into huge details about the room but it was a decent size, big sofa that was used the whole week to hold the cases, an extremely comfortable bed and the balcony which was used for about 2 hours every day, my happy place. Room pictures are attached. The first stop was Key West, we booked a Trolley tour for $25 each which was nice to see around however with the benefit of hindsight we would have just hopped off the boat and walked up Duvall Street. Next was a day at sea to explore the ship, we visited the iLounge, being an Apple fanboy this delighted me. We also headed to the front of the boat where it was quieter to sunbathe (this is up 2 floors and I don’t believe there is a lift). You have more space here compared to the poolside however food is further away….burns a few calories I guess. Costa Maya – this stop was kind of poor and we had been warned about this. Our initial intention was to visit the Mayan ruins however when we began researching it showed that we were over 2 hours away. We decided we would go on shore; it was odd as we left the ship around 10am and already a lot of people were walking back to the ship telling us “not to bother”. We took a dander around the town and it was ok for souvenirs but it seemed the general consensus was that it is a stop that should no longer be on the route, this came from crew and guests. The following day we visited Cozumel, we were told this was the better Mexican stop out of the 2. Our initial intention was to go to the beach and explore from there however my wife kept asking about the excursions. In the end we decided to go to Dolphin Discovery and swim with the dolphins. I liked this area as the dolphins had loads of space in the sea to swim. The cost was $89 and it is treated like a dolphin swim with a beach area afterwards. The one thing that really grinded my gears was during the experience there is a huge push on photographs, one single photograph was $80! I thought it was pesos at the start when I first read the sign. TOP TIP – if you do this experience ask them for the online link and you can buy the photos for up to 2 weeks afterwards, they are approximately 75% off. A CD of photographs was $165 which is atrocious. The beach area was pleasant and it included food & beverage whilst at the facility which was just ok but all in all we were very pleased at the experience only costing $89. We took the bus back to the port and explored a few of the shops in the port; this was a lot nicer than the shops in Costa Maya. The next day we were in Grand Cayman, I had been there about 15 years before. We walked off the boat and purchased a bus trip for $25 each which took us around the island. TOP TIP – we wanted to Jet Ski at 7 mile beach and it was $100 for 30 minutes at the port to book. When you get to the beach most of the vendors sell this for $40 - $50 for half an hour so better than half price. The bus took us to Hell and a little shop of novelties; it let us see around the Island a little and gave us a good history of the Island. We hopped off the bus at 7 mile beach to stay there for a few hours and it was genuinely the best beach we have ever experienced. We have been to California, Hawaii, Portugal and Spain however this beach had the clearest water and it was the prettiest beach we have been to. After jet skiing we swam for a while, some snorkelling and sunbathed for a while. About 2 hours before we had to be back on board we started to look around for how to get back to the boat, luckily all the taxis and busses meet up at the beach car park, we were taken back to the port for only $2.50 each. There are small stalls at the port again for souvenirs and drinks; we felt the prices were pretty good too. Leaving Grand Cayman was sad as it was our last stop on the cruise; we still had a day at sea ahead of us before we got back to Miami. When we got back to Miami it was a very civilised process, we left the hefty luggage out the night before and we were given our “waiting area”. We did not go to the meeting area, we went to get breakfast first and at that point our number was called so we wrapped up and headed off the ship. We picked up our luggage and got in the queue for immigration, this was very slow. The CBP conduct a “light” check of the passports and didn’t ask many questions but we did notice those that requested porters at the luggage area walked to the front of the immigration queue. We grabbed an uber at that point and headed to MIA. Entertainment In regards to entertainment there was a stand-up comedian, a puppeteer, a Paul McCartney tribute show and the ship’s crew show. I hope I don’t offend anyone but I felt the ship’s crew show was poor, we really didn’t enjoy it, and it felt like a super budget restrained Cirque performance. The performers are trying hard but we couldn’t help but feel that another stand-up comedian or perhaps a varied music performance would work better. The stand-up comedians were excellent, genuinely brilliant and usually a full house. The Paul McCartney performance was very well played, a little dull at times and a lot of empty seats however the guys were very talented. Food The Oceanview café was the most impressive buffet we have used at sea, the food variation was excellent. It was nice to have Indian & Chinese dishes (even proper British bacon at breakfast!). The evening meals were at Silhouette, the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. There are static items on the menu and then one or 2 dishes per course are changed daily, a little more variation would really help but that’s a very minor thing as there were plenty of options. As a British couple we really enjoyed afternoon tea every day between 3pm and 430pm I believe it was, the scones and cakes were delightful. Room On our last cruise we had an inside cabin on the NCL Epic, so this room was a big upgrade for us. The balcony has very comfortable recliner chairs and a table which is nice for breakfast (menu is left on the door handle with your time preference) and our door locked tight so we didn’t have any outside noise at night. The bed was very comfortable and there was significant space underneath the bed for suitcases, the sofa was sizeable however I would assume most use it to hold their cases if not unpacking. A sizable wardrobe, safe, fridge and TV, the TV channels are enough for background noise, mostly news channels for some reason but best not to sit in the cabin watching TV on a cruise! The bathroom was very spacious, a good shower and plenty of storage. Stops I enjoyed all the stops except Costa Maya; perhaps it is my own mistake but I just didn’t enjoy it. Had we been able to go to the beach it could have been excellent however they are having a big sea weed issue at the moment so a lot of the beaches smell bad and you are unable to go in the ocean. Key West is a wonderful first stop, I hadn’t been there for over 18 years and had a great time, Grand Cayman was superb for the beach alone and the locals are very friendly. Service I could write a huge piece on this but my general impression is that EVERY staff member went above and beyond. Having worked in service delivery for 10 years I value this trait highly, Celebrity impressed on every single level. The waiters in the dining room were world class and the room attendants were friendly and thorough. I could write a long list of names but the whole crew is superb, the head Chef from Bergamo in Italy introduced himself to us one night. I congratulated him on the excellent display of his staff and food. Ship The Celebrity Equinox ship has been in service since 2009, we were told that the ship is due for a refurb sometime in the near future. I wouldn’t say that it would be overly necessary, I would say that the equinox has another 2 or 3 years before that would be required. The rooms are still in good form, the pool area, gym and shopping areas are very modern, the foyer is beautifully designed with glass elevators and the ship is very easy to navigate. Read Less

Celebrity Equinox had excellent food and service. I had dinner every night in the dining room. All my tablemates and I agreed the food was fantastic every night. I saw no reason to go to the specialty restaurants as the food was so good. Service was excellent, too. Even the buffets were very good with a huge variety of food. There was an excellent female singer at the pool and almost nightly singing in the main lobby, where people danced. The casino was very large and nonsmoking. They even had a $5 Blackjack table! There is a free children's program for each age group. I would highly recommend the Luggage Valet. It is $25. After you put your luggage out the last night, it is taken care of until you arrive at your home airport. You don't have to get it from the conveyer belt after you disembark the ship or lug it or carry it at anytime until after your flight home. I've used it on several cruises, and it is a pleasure and well worth the money!!!! Read Less

SHIP This is our second trip on the Equinox (for our first impressions refer to our Ultimate Caribbean report in 2013). EMBARKATION This was very efficient and stress-free. Our flight left Toronto a little after 06:00, and we were enjoying lunch in the Ocean View Cafe at 12:30! Transfer from Miami Airport was fast and efficient, and the cruise check-in was very smooth. Celebrity has photographers on duty if you feel the need to have your picture taken, but Celebrity's photographers are polite and willing to take "No thank you" for an answer. They never bothered us on this trip. DINING In the Silhouette Dining Room we were luckily assigned table 227, which is located in a quiet corner and very ably served by Aguledo, Denton and I Gede. These chaps are efficient, friendly and always have time for a laugh – thanks guys! We enjoyed every meal here as well; the food was of consistently good quality, properly cooked and well presented. We usually took breakfast and lunch at the Ocean View Cafe and we enjoyed every meal. The food was always good and the staff always helpful and polite. Lesa-Rose made us feel very welcome as did Denton (surely the identical twin brother of Denton who served us at Table 227!). PEOPLE We appreciate the hard work, enthusiasm and dedication of every one of the crew members on the Equinox. With a crew drawn from 72 different nationalities you can meet interesting people everywhere on board. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and cheerful and managed to find time for a brief chat. We realise that a vacation day for us is a work day for them, so we don't like to distract them too much, but they were always polite and as interested in us as we were in them. TIP: everyone likes to feel appreciated; we find friendliness is returned every time. There were several opportunities to meet and mingle with Captain and officers and they are equally cheerful and easy-going. Captain Kate is a high-visibility captain and runs a happy ship. Some crew members went over and above the call of duty and we want to recognize their efforts in making our trip so enjoyable. ENTERTAINMENTS We're not interested in shopping, or in casinos, so we cannot comment on these areas. We attended some of the shows, but enjoyed the speciality acts best. The magician, comedian, and juggler were all great, but in our opinion the best music on the ship came from the Badness Quartet. These versatile musicians can play ANYTHING – and they always play it WELL! They gave us some excellent covers of Eric Clapton, Santana, and Credence Clearwater Revival at the Lawn Party on deck 15. The ship’s Orchestra is also very talented and could accompany guest performers with little rehearsal time. The main shows with singers, dancers and acrobats were well-choreographed, but didn’t make much sense or tell a story. Most music choices were not appealing to the older demographic on this cruise. We saw one show, Topper on Eclipse last year. We really missed the Corning Glass display. The Hollywood Glass Artisan can make some astonishing pieces, but the show format has changed, because now most of the time you get to watch somebody trying to emulate the experts, and there is a great deal of repetition. They gave a demonstration on the first day, but after having risen at 02:45 a.m. to get to the airport for our flight all we wanted to do was sleep, so we missed it. It would be an improvement if they could do ad-hoc narrated demonstrations during any lulls with no classes scheduled. The Activities Staff Oz, Christine, and Debbie organized the Trivia games with great patience and made sure we never cheated (not that we would even consider cheating, of course). SIDE TRIPS We took two side trips through Celebrity; the Beach Break at Cozumel, and the Snorkelling with Pirates at Costa Maya. We were not overly impressed with the beach – it’s nothing to write home about, but one free spirit who is comfortable in the water enjoyed the snorkelling trip. The waves and current at the barrier reef were strong, and even confident swimmers were having difficulties. The ‘pirates’ who organise this trip (Michelle and her friends) were very capable and looked after us well. NEW ORLEANS Our main reason for taking this trip was to visit New Orleans and the Jazz Festival. Being able to use the ship as a floating hotel for 3 days was a huge benefit, and we would recommend this trip if only for that reason. TIP: Celebrity is required to collect taxes for New Orleans Parish (10%) and Plaquemines Parish (9.5%) while the vessel is transiting the river and while alongside in New Orleans. These taxes apply to the total amount of ANY and ALL bar sales during these periods (even to bottles of water!), and is on top of any beverage package costs. This will obviously affect the purchasing power of your drinks package! The temperature was comfortable during our stay and the humidity was low. We rode the streetcars for the experience, but in some cases it’s faster to walk. TIP: The last 2 stops on the Riverfront streetcar line that are closest to the cruise terminal will be closed for some time for hotel construction staring in July, so be prepared to walk or find alternate transportation. We waited to get tickets for the Jazz Festival and express bus until the day we wanted to go. While it was an interesting experience, we found it to be a lot of walking and we weren’t really knowledgeable about too many of the performers. We probably missed some acts that we would have enjoyed better than some we did see. SUGGESTIONS We had no complaints about the ship, her crew, or any of the activities or meals we enjoyed on board, but we want to suggest a few small improvements that we believe might make a difference to people's enjoyment of a trip on the Equinox: 1. Newspapers. As there are no printed daily papers with news from various counties, it would be good if the online version available on the TVs was searchable by country, presented more in a newspaper format, and included weather. 2. Daily Schedule. Rather than having to carry around a paper schedule, it would be nice if daily activities were available on screens throughout the ship. 3. Having the beverage section of the Aqua Spa Cafe open all day long, instead of just at mealtimes. 4. Add a few more speakers/presentations with maritime topics unrelated to selling the ship's goods/services, especially on sea days. There wasn’t much to do on our second sea day. DISEMBARKATION. This process was a huge improvement over our first Equinox experience, so we think Celebrity seems to listen to passengers’ complaints. SUMMARY We would definitely sail with Celebrity again, and have no hesitation recommending the Equinox and her crew. We select our trips according to the itinerary, and we have already seen a great deal of the Caribbean, so maybe we’ll try something in the Indian Ocean, or in Asia. Read Less

Bar waiter in upper pool level bar (cant remember his name but he sang all the time)... Waiters in Martini bar. In fact, all staff. One thing I was dissapointed with is I bought a diamoind ring in the auction only to find out the diamond has a hairline fracture. I will never buy on board again. I thought some of the shoes were good but I have seen better. Comedian was great!! I also thought some excursions were rather expensive. All in all we have a great toime. Met some wonderful people on this trip. Finally, the sail away party was very disappointing. No music or any atmosphere. The ship was late sailing and the band had left the stage. The Royal Carribbean sailed away with music and lots of fun. I was very jelous. Read Less

Our 6th cruise and chose Celebrity as we had a very nice holiday on Celebrity Reflection one year earlier. Was nervous that Equinox was built nearly 10 years ago and it is starting to show. Overall the ship is generally in good keep, but our Concierge cabin, especially the bedding, was really worn/stained / full of tears - yuk! Not OK!! Our cabin Steward put on a fresh mattress pad - but needing to ask for this was not ideal. Also disappointing that our specialty dining reservations were moved to other days even though we prepaid and booked months in advance. Crew was always very apologetic...but nonetheless shouldn’t have happened. Food at specialty restaurants and the main dining room was very good. Great service in the MDR; even the wine steward (who was very slow on last cruise) was great this time. Enjoyed all the ports (but keep in mind the Mexican stops are just what you expect -lots of junky gift shops and street vendors). Nice beach in Costa Maya. Cayman is always great! We have only ever done concierge class on celebrity and I’d liken it to ‘economy plus’ on an airline. Some nice touches, but probably not worth the minor cost increase. We had to ask on day 3 for our ‘complimentary champagne’ (which nerves me to need to request it). We also laugh about the ‘pillow menu’ and x-linens for bedding...on two cruises now with Celebrity and have yet to see a pillow menu....oh well...I would have settled for a clean bed. The afternoon snacks are nice in theory (but not all that good and there is no shortage of better food everywhere else on the ship.) Love the bathroom setup and the cabin Steward was very responsive (we don’t blame him for the old/dirty mattress cover - to me that is more a training/purchasing of newer bedding issue with celebrity corporate....he was probably doing the best with the bedding he was given). On a ship build in 2009; we probably weren’t the only cabin with old bedding. The wear and tear items (towels/bedding/carpet/even some of the chairs in the MDR) really should be upgraded more often; if Celebrity wants to differentiate itself. The entertainment was very good...though we are in our mid 40’s and too much of the music was geared towards a much older crowd. You would think they would adjust over spring break for families with kids and try to attract the next generation of cruisers. I’m an old soul and like all kinds of music; but a little too much Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton/ Johnny Cash for a modern experience. The show Topper and comedian Rondell Sheridan were the highlights and were excellent. We really wanted to love Equinox- but was sort of a mixed bag. I’d really like to see Celebrity adjust prices and, in turn, provide truly a world class experience on a big ship. It is currently very reasonably priced (at least relevant to other family vacations) but you kind of leave feeling like you got only some of what you paid for. Most cruises are sort of like water parks - I think people choose Celebrity for the food, service and quality...so it would be good if Celebrity really figures out their demographic. Read Less

I chose Celebrity Equinox because i did not want to cruise with spring breakers or too many heavy partiers and the reviews stated it is 63% couples. I was very happy with the crowd. I also loved the spa pool for adults only, very relaxing. I never felt crowded. I also enjoyed the shows. The downside.. i would not cruise to cozumel or costa maya again, both very hokey tourist traps. I loved Key West and Grand Cayman was ok. The food in the main dining room was adequate, not top notch, they do push for people to pay for the upscale restaurants, which i did not do. The buffet was ok too, it gave me the freedom to make better choices, lots of salads. The staff was amazing and worked very hard. I recommend bringing a reusable water bottle, you can fill it in the morning, add ice and lemon and your good to go. Read Less

For my wife and I, this was our 13th cruise, the 3rd on Celebrity, and the 1st on Equinox. We sailed with our adult children and have to say this rank as one of our top 3 cruises. We tend to sail on the same lines. RCCL, NCL and Celebrity. With this cruise we pretty much have confirmed, Celebrity's crew friendliness, level of food quality and overall experience arenumber one with us. We sailed Conceirge class and the embark and debark process was rapid and painless. We prefer Acqua class, given the avialbility of the Blu restaurant, but it was not available. The food in Murano, Tuscan and the Main Dining room were excellent, I would stay away from Silk Harvest; a little too much like going to your local Chinese restaurant. Service in all the restaurants was excellent. The Equinox's Cruise Director was one of the best we have sailed with. The entertainment each night was different and at a very high level - whether the company shows or the comedians. The musical venues were well aligned for each venue, especially Devico and Shashi in the Ensemble lounge. The ships coffee bar, Bacio, wass a must most day for high end coffee drinks and pastries. The ship has a glass blowing activity, which currently is only available on two other ships in the world - a highly recommended activity on a sea day. Importantly, the Captain was visible and knows how to manage a ship and crew that makes you feel special and a welcomed guest. Read Less

Everything was very good food, entertainment and bar service. Staff was very personable and helpful. The only thing I could say would be that the activities staff was so, so. I didn't think they spent much time with the activities or interact much with the vacationers. They were good when they did the stuff but I wouldn't say they were fun. I like to know the people working on the cruise. Our dining staff and bar staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Drinks were a little inconsistant but not bad. Some were much stronger then the regular drinks. LOL I would definitely do a Celebrity cruise again. It was well worth the price that we paid. Read Less

Travel Dates: January 6-10 Departure Port: Miami Ports visited: Cozumel Cabin: 8317 - Verandah We traveled on the day of embarkation from Orlando to Miami. It's about a 3.5 hour drive and no traffic on a Saturday morning. We got to the port at around 1pm. The ship was docked at terminal G. Parked at the garage ($22 per night) right across from the terminal. Not bad since we were splitting it by 3 couples. A big group got in line right before us but everyone was in such good moods that it made the 5 minute wait easy. Up the escalator and we were directed to the Aqua Class queue because that was the shortest line. Got our Sea Passes, filled out our health questionnaires and we were ready to board the ship. The welcome glass of champagne was a great touch and we then walked toward the bars on deck 5. The announcement was made that all cabins were ready. We decided to have a drink at the World Class Bar but they didn't open until 5. So on to the Martini bar. I got a Pear martini which was delicious but very strong. Our bags had not made it to our cabin yet so we decided to go have lunch in the Oceanview Cafe. Purell was squirted into every guests hands upon arrival. This happened at every meal both here and in the main dining room. Lunch was good but since we didn't have time to relax yet, our choices had no rhyme nor reason. Our cabin was wonderful with plenty of storage. We unpacked and asked the cabin steward to separate our beds as I was traveling with my daughter. We also asked him to open the balcony partition between us and 8319, one of the couples we were traveling with. We unpacked, and went to our safety meeting. The video is way too long to keep any one's attention and we were in Michael's which was packed with guests. The crew members did their best to demonstrate how to put on a life vest but you could not see them due to the crowd and set up of the room. On to a rainy sailaway which was poorly attended so we had a drink at the Mast Bar. We hung out there until some smokers sat down so we moved on. Rather than give you a blow by blow of our daily routine, here are the highlights by category: Dining: We ate in the dining room every night at 6. Starters were the highlight of every night and we all got 2 each. Main courses were good, not great. Chic night menu was the same as every other night. After some delay in getting wine the first night, we had the wine waiting for us on our table every night after that. We had breakfast in the main dining room one morning, in the Aqua cafe a few mornings, and the Oceanview cafe as well. Breakfast was delicious every day. My favorite stop several times a day is the Cafe al Bacio. This was our morning meeting spot and afternoon treat as well. Bars: The pool bars got most of our business as we were blessed with nice weather most of the trip. I do think we hit them all...multiple times. We all stuck to our usual drinks with nothing fancy. Ship: Immaculate, well layed out and easy to find our friends without walkie talkies, notes or messages. We all had pretty much the same routine be it the gym, walking, pool, reading, drinking, casino, etc. We never saw dirty dishes or glasses left on tables. The officers and crew were very nice and professional. Service and the condition of this ship is why we would return for sure. Excursion: We did the Salsa, Salsa and Margaritas excursion. It was a lot of fun and we actually made some very tasty margaritas which we have repeated once we got home. While we appreciate audience participation, there was one repeat attendee who was leading a group from another ship. He was very enthusiastic and to be honest...annoying. I don't need someone tell me to tip, buy swag, etc. He found the mic a few times and we lost interest. We left before the salsa dancing started. We shopped a little around the port and went back on the ship. Entertainment and Activities: The silent disco was a lot of fun. We would do that again for sure. We watched the Officer and guest pool volley ball game and did some line dancing by the pool. The casino benefited from our night there. I appreciate the no smoking policy there. We went to one show but the ship was rocking and we decided that nothing was worth feeling ill. I wish there was more music geared to a younger crowd. Our group spanned in age from 34-62. We spent time up on the lawn, in the gym. We didn't shop much and I wish there was a shop carrying trinket type souvenirs. I would not take children on this ship as there is not much to do besides the pool which was quite cold at all times. We would definitely go on this ship again. 4 nights is not enough but was all we had. Celebrity is a class act. Read Less

Embarked on the 6th of January for a cruise to nowhere, I mean Cozumel. We were taking the trip for the points in concierge class so as to move up to elite in captains club. Food in the MDR was good and the service there was Celebrity standards, room was, as usual, what we have had before, comfortable. Our attendant was always prompt when needed and was our salvation at cocktail, time delivering a cheese and fruit plate as well as the canapés that come with concierge class. If I were to go back to this area of Mexico I would do Cancún, Cozumel seemed like a cruise port and bazaar for the cruise guest, didn’t care for it. Again the Celebrity brand, to me, has not lost any of its luster from the last cruise we were on, a transatlantic last year. Loved the Equinox but it is back on the Silhouette for me. The Top Hat show on this cruise was great, a little odd, but great. All in all a fun trip and cocktails were, as I remembered, delish at the Martini bar. Love Celebrity. More cruises this year, another transatlantic on the Silly, April 15th, so looking forward to it and all the sea days. If you are cruising soon, enjoy! Read Less

Although my parents have far more trips than my daughters husband and I we came back from this ship on separate trips and compared the trips with each other. What a difference a month makes. Please note that my parents give it near four stars and we give it three but I can't do 3 and half stars between the two trips so I chose three stars. My parents went June 18th and we went July 16th. What we BOTH loved: 1) The beds were the best we've ever had. We both had balconies. No smell, nice rooms, impressed that we could fit our luggage under the beds (that's not always the case). During our trips we could take two bottles of wine each on board our carry on. We made sure they were good wines with a TWIST off cap, not a cork. There are no dry lines in the shower to hang anything. We were warned so we brought a hanger with clips (dollar store). There are also no dispensers for shampoo or body wash, although they give you a small sample bottle in your bathroom. Certainly not enough to make it through the week, but we had our own any how. 2) The room stewards-work their ass off! Big shout out to Jannis! She always helped us no matter what! Oh yes! Be warned we asked where our connecting door was. We were pretty mad when we got in their and found no connecting door like we were promised. There WAS a connecting door. Both room doors stay OPEN! Then there is this outer door that comes together to make one BIG door for both rooms. So the entire week my husband and I could not shut our door (the electronics are in the wall and work when the door is attached to it) and we were constantly wondering if we could "get it on" when both doors are constantly open with two daughter 18 and 20 yrs old that, believe it or not, wouldn't leave us the entire vacation!! 3) Our dining stewards were amazing! We did my time dining the first time ever, my parents did early time and we both had a great time dressing up. Sergio and his team were fantastic. The food selection was very limited, but what we did have was great! 4) Solarium was lovely. Always could find a seat. My Mom and dad loved the Aqua spa and so did I. You have to pay for their smoothies, but after a night of partying, I just had to have the detox drink. 5)The night parties were fairly good (when we could stay up for them). Bring white there's almost always one now on any cruise you go on. 6)Guest services for my parents and us wen tout of their way to help us and even searched non-stop with the dining group for a lost purse. It was found. They were just fantastic, always had a smile. 7)We also agreed that the ocean view cafe was MEGA disappointing. We were on Reflection both of our parties in the last year or so and they had waaaaaay more selection and it didn't stay the same every night! Every day and every night was the same thing over and over again. Come on!! This is not what we expect from Celebrity! Now the differences. My parents had great shows. they told me the singers they brought on and the shows. They were NOT the same ones we had. They had a show called TOP HAT. We did not. There's only so much so called Vegas shows I can watch. Both of our parties do not like Whitney Houston. So when we went we were not impressed. We saw the Elysium show both of our parties said it was amazing choreography, however, even though the stars of show worked hard, we've seen too many productions like this and the songs were boring. Where was the Grease show that was on the Reflection? And we say The Tenors of Rock and the Legends of Liverpool on Reflection (all of us) and we were blow away by them!! This time we were sorely lacking in talent for the shows and it was one of the reasons we picked this cruise!! I would have gone with Vista if I had known I was going to be bored!! My parents weren't bored, they had great performers come on board, we did not and I was mad. My parents also had better experiences with the entertainment staff. We didn't even see the directors most times. My parents said they were around all the time on their voyage. First and ONLY time doing the drink package. NOT WORTH IT! Don't do it. Waste of money especially when they water down their drinks with crap liquor. There's no way in heck you could possibly drink enough to make it worth your while. They est drinks were at the following places. Casino bar, however they are limited and can not do blended drinks. Martini bar, however again don't both asking for anything iced in a blender. They will do it, but have to go into the kitchen to get it done. I must say though, those gentlemen know how to put on a show! The Slushie bar by the pool (alcoholic slushies!)but drinks on the ship. You have to pay extra but worth it! If you want margaritas or Daiquiris you would have to be on the pool deck which is very frustrating if they are your favorite. All ports of call were fantastic. Loved that were were the only ship in Grand Cayman. Other wise I wouldn't have gotten off the ship. Cozumel always a favorite. Maya Chan has become a new favorite, but that's a guarded secret now for our family. Key West was the BEST port of call for both of our respective trips. Both families love this port. I defy you to not find something to do!! We ate at the Sushi on five. Both trips very good food, however, very salty though and there was MSG. Not good for any of us either trip. We also ate at Murano, both of out parties. 5 STAR! Off the charts wonderful, well worth the money, but you do have to dress up this restaurant demands no less!! which brings me to my next and last point of contention. Just an aside remark here: My husband dropped a bomb on me three weeks before the trip and said go find the perfect dress for our 25th anniversary and we would renew our vows on the ship. The girls had their couture gowns from their proms so they were all set! He bought a new tux and I found a sparkly white gown (get over it) and we contacted Celebrity to see if we could do a quick renewal ceremony on board. Since we did not have to be in port since it was only a renewal we thought it wouldn't cost too much money it was only the four of us and we would go to Murano for the formal night. I was VERY wrong. $800.00 U.S. for fifteen minute "Ceremony" flowers for me, one flower for him and a cake. The photo's were not included although a photographer would gladly take us around for an hour to take them. We couldn't pick our location to do the renewal, and with no photo's or dinner included this is highway robbery!! They should be ashamed to even ask for this! So we did it ourselves on our own! And it was magical!! Did it on formal night, my daughter did the officiating, both girls took amazing photo''s although we did take a few with some of their photographers. And ate at Murano's dancing with the live musicians there i the atrium. Simply a wonderful night I'll remember forever. And it only cost $300.00 for specialty dinner for the four of us and some selection of their professional photos. My husband and I are headed back on the Equinox in December, we booked it again before this cruise because of the amazing price we got booking a year early and it includes room credit and drinks this time. We are hopeful the food will have more variety and the shows will be better this time. Read Less

Us, a family of 4, 2 adults 2 adult females. We flew into Ft Lauderdale from the Northeast. We took a SAS Transportation shuttle from the Airport to the Miami cruise terminal.Cost was 15pp and took less than 30 mins. Embarkation: this could not have been easier, arrived at 10:25,were on the ship by 10:55. Plenty of agents, cards were pre printed off we went. Score 100 On Board: we ate lunch in the cafe and then toured the ship, finally settling in the Sky lounge. As promised our rooms were ready at 1pm. Room: we had 2 balcony cabins next to each other on the 7th floor. Nothing special except for the shower, they finally designed a shower that has oval doors that close and seal.It was the 1st shower i took in 15 cruises, that I didn't exit to a puddle of water on the floor Score 100 Dining: We chose Traditional 6pm dining. Service was EXCELLENT!! Food on the other hand was so - so at best, Im not a picky eater, but i had trouble finding and entree every night. This is our 3 Celebrity Cruise in 3 years, we sailed on 3 different ships in 2 different classes, and the menu is the same. (honorable mention entree, Turkey Parmesan, this does not exist in an Italian household) Score 45 Tours: We took the galley tour, they took us through a small section of the kitchen and then brought us into the specialty restaurants TACKY Score 50 Ports: We missed key West due to high winds as we caught up to the tail end of a tropical storm. Costa Maya, Took the ships excursion to the Mayan Ruins, tour itself was good, guide was extremely knowledgeable,But he tried to sell us a variety of items, why we were traveling back and forth to the ruins 50 mins TACKY!! Score 25 Cozumel: We took the ATV & Beach resort tour. Our guide was great, ATV's were ALOT of fun and the resort had a restaurant and bar. Score 100 Grand Cayman.: We took a taxi to the 7 mile beach, 4.00pp, they dropped us off a resort when we paid 2.00 to use the beach. Beach was beautiful, we ended up walking back to the ship, where we did some shopping and enjoyed the pool /slide at Margaritaville. Score 100 Casino: Minimums at all table games were high 25.00 for craps, 15.00 for Blackjack. A casino worker that I met before on a different ship, told me there was a group of high rollers on the ship and the casino had raised the minimums, so the HR did not have to play along side the unwashed masses. Score 0 Entertainment: shows that involved the guests ended promptly after 30 minutes,no matter how much fun everyone was having Theatre: Savannah Jack was awesome, acapella group not so much. In a effort to save money Celebrity now has 4 production shows. ALL of the performers are EXTREMELY TALENTED but the shows Topper, Elysis, put me to sleep. Score 25. We choose this cruise for the itinerary. We did not count on a nightmare misery in order to board. We were told that the ship would board at 2:30pm. We adjusted our schedule and arrive at the port at that time. We put into a line that went on forever. The sun was beating down on everyone. Over 2 hours in the hot sun before we entered the building and another 1 hour to check in. We had a incompetent check in person that gave us wrong information. This let us to stand in another line in the ship, only to find out we did not need to be there.By the time we got to our cabin they then called the life boat drill. We were not happy cruisers at this time. Not a word form Celebrity on this misery we had just gone through. It was poor choice to move the Equinox from Ft.. Lauderdale to Miami. Once we settled in the cruise itself was good.It took over a day to recover from the embarkation nightmare. The ship is starting to show its age. The food was good and some of the shows were not up to standard..Murano's restaurant was great.. If we could forget the boarding we had a nice time. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary with a three day stop in New Orleans for Jazzfest. It was an excellent cruise. The entertainment was excellent. My only criticism was boarding. It was the worst I have had in over 60 cruises. The ship was late due to repositioning from Fort Lauderdale. We were advised of that, but the checkin and was disorganized. The service aboard was excellent. The food was very good, but the variety was not as good in the main dining room. The hostess was excellent. She made sure we had the same waiters each night. The ship was handicapped friendly and enabled us to have a great vacation. The entertainment on the ship was very good. The six singers were outstanding as was the dancers. The guest entertainers were fairly average. We only took one shore excursion in Key West. It was a multilanguage tour on an accessible bus. We did New Orleans on our own with local transportation. We visited the French Quarter and the World War Two museum. Read Less

The itinerary, great price and perks due to relocation from Europe. Cruise started terrible with the absolute worst embarkation process we have experienced in over 50 cruises. One line led to another leading to another etc with no one seemingly in charge. Escalators did not work, staff seemed to not be in control, etc. Once on board this became one of our best cruise experiences. The ship's dining and cabin staff were exceptional. The entertainment led by the cruise director, Richard spacy was over the top. The bar staff was equally excellent although the frozen drinks (Margaritas, Pina Coladas etc were below standard: weak tasting). The ship was spotless. Balcony cabin was good but lacked adequate drawer space. Bathroom and shower were more then adequate. Food was excellent from our the main dining room to the buffet. Wait staff made it an even more enjoyable experience. Overall an exceptional experience marred by the disasterous embarkation process. Read Less
