We chose this cruise as we had enjoyed our first cruise on board the Reflection a year previous. Ironically the Reflection was alongside us in Barcelona , which brought back happy memories. We knew the cabin would be well appointed with an attentive steward to assist us. The excellent crew member who allocated my wife and I to a table for 2 each evening was brilliant, We prefer to eat at 19.00 - 20.00, but on this occasion we went to see a show in the Theatre at 19.00 and then went into the main restaurant at 20.00. The shows were usually of a very good standard and this was a great start for the evening. The meals were very good and as the waiters were so happy to ensure you had exactly what you wanted and the quality was up there with great restaurants in London. The only downside was the excessive charges for dining in the Specialist restaurants. The Ports were ideally chosen allowing you to visit places of interest, such as Mount Etna, Sorento and the wonderful Florence. We deliberately chose early October in order not to have children on board, and this proved to be a great time to holiday. Read Less

Our second time on the equinox but very disappointed in the food in the Silhouette dining room and with the on board entertainment. Not much to do on the sea days and had to send my chicken back twice as it was tough and inedible! The dessert menu was limited and the same every evening! However the service was good and the staff all worked hard to ensure you were looked after. We have sailed on thr eclipse before and would not hesitate to sail on that ship again. Unfortunately the merchandise on sale on the equinox was cheap and tacky so there was nothing to tempt one to spend your money. Mostly cheap watches and bags on sale every evening. Weather was good considering it was end of October so we were lucky. The excursions we took were well organised and on time. Luckily there was no norovirus this time around. Read Less

Overall, it was a great cruise. There were some deficiencies in that the dining room food was good but not very good. The dessert menu was definitely lacking. There were same 4 choices every day with 1 or 2 lack luster choices added every day. There was only 1 dessert that was so good that I would have to ban it from my kitchen!! The desserts in the Ocean View were generally lack luster. However the pizza was the best I have had on a ship. The fresh omelets were outstanding. The hamburgers on deck 14 were very good but not as Guy's on Carnival (really you should do better than Carnival). The cabins were outstanding, as was the service. It was nice to see the occasional deal on drinks, but they would advertise cocktails 50% off but it was limited to a certain selection. I loved the activities director, Justin, but can't say the same for the cruise director, Alejandra. One only saw him on stage and at times his humour had too much bite when directed at the guests. I have to say that most people did seem to really like him. Read Less

Let me start off by saying my wife and I had a wonderful time aboard the ship and the tours we took. The room stewards were excellent, dining room staff the best! The room, but small was always clean and comfortable. The food in the main dining room was pretty good, nice selection and always properly prepared. The buffet had a very nice selection of dishes and nicely prepared. Disembarking the ship went smoothly and quickly. The tour buses could have been a little newer, but were clean. The drivers were beyond compare and the tour guides very knowledgeable and humorous. A FEW THINGS WE WEREN’T TOO HAPPY WITH: 1) We entered our room and found a large bottle of water on the dresser, and drank it because we with a little hot. The room steward informed us the water cost 4.5 Euros, with no signage to that effect. That annoyed me. I told him I enjoy cold water in the evening, and he outdid himself! Twice a day a pitcher of cold water and a bucket of ice! That earned him a nice extra tip at the end of the cruise. 2) The constant hawking of bottled water when we left the ship. Over twice the price. 3) The end of the trip: It was suggested by our tour director that taking their buses from the ship to the airport would be a great idea, saving time instead of trying to get the few cabs that would be available. So we signed up for around $64.00. After we retrieved our bags and dragged them off the ship to the bus assigned us. Got to the bus, now changed to another bus, then changed again to another bus, dragging our bags all over the place. Finally loaded, our overhead bag didn’t fit in the bus overhead, in the lap all the way to the airport. The bus arrived and dropped us off at the beginning of International Departures, short of the overhang and it was raining. Nice. To make matters worse, our airline was at the far end of the terminal, again dragging our luggage. We noticed cabs with other ship passengers arriving in front of the terminal at the same time. Appears the cost was a little less with far more convenience. Anything to make more money for the ship’s company. Very disappointed, needless to say… Read Less

As first time cruisers we spent a lengthy amount of time researching all the different cruise-lines that sail the Mediterranean and I found this site to be extremely beneficial. We ended up choosing Celebrity as it was highly recommended by various travel agencies and frequent cruisers. I have written a lengthy review of our cruise experience below. It is very long so apologies in advance. The ship overall was fantastic. Modern, clean and relaxing. We travelled from Perth, Australia via Dubai with 2 night stopover and then on to Barcelona. Upon arrival in Dubai we opted for a private taxi to transfer to our hotel, there are cheaper options available but after a long haul flight we were not in the mood to share a bus/car with other passengers or wait around. The private taxis are very nice (Air-conditioned Lexus, Mercedes etc). We stayed on the Palm at The Atlantis Hotel, which was a huge hotel with so much to do. Our room had a view of the aquarium below and The Palm. (See attached images) We visited the Burj Khalifa, Jumeirah Beach (went camel riding on the beach at sunset), the huge Mall, watched the fountain show at Burj (amazing at night), Atlantis Aqua-venture theme park and visited the beach walk at night for dinner and drinks at a rooftop bar. We ran out of time to see and do everything we wanted (The dune-dinner safari was high on the list) so if you decide to stopover here I would recommend staying for a bit longer. As we went late September we found the weather to be fine, it was a little hot but no different to Western Australian summers. At certain times of the year the weather can be too hot to even go outdoors! so choose your time right. Our next destination was Barcelona for a 2 night stopover prior to embarkation at the Barcelona port. Immigration in Barcelona was the slowest I have ever experienced. May have just been the time of day we arrived. Once again we opted for a taxi to our hotel near the city centre on Via Laeitina. Hotel H10 Montcada - This had amazing views from the rooftop bar of the Gothic quarter and city. The Hotel was clean and in a very convenient location, but the rooms were extremely small (all rooms are small in Europe though). We were able to walk to all sights from our hotel and we only ever caught a taxi once or twice. We picked a map up from reception who helped us work out the best way to navigate the city in order to see the sights we wanted. We visited La Sagrada Familia, wandered through the Gothic quarter and stumbled across a beautiful Cathedral, la Rambla, Park Guell and found some beautiful restaurants for afternoon tapas/dinner (The Spanish have a siesta in the afternoon so most restaurants etc don’t open until very late at night). We enjoyed the City and felt that 3 days was sufficient to see everything we were interested in. We embarked at Barcelona Port. The process was very organised and as we were concierge class passengers we were able to join a slightly faster line. We decided to arrive later in the day so we didn't have a very long wait for our cabin and luggage to arrive. The sail away from Barcelona was nice, but nothing great in comparison to the other ports we visited. The Ship was great and was the perfect size. We never felt that it was crowded (except for at embarkation/disembarkation). We loved the indoor adult’s only solarium and I loved the Persian garden. It was great to be able to relax after a long day exploring the ports. Our cabin was in the concierge class and located on deck ten. Our balcony had a great view and we loved opening the curtains to an amazing view of our new destination each day. Our room attendant was lovely and was always around if we ever needed assistance. The cabin, although not as large as hotel room was spacious enough and we had sufficient storage. I would highly recommend a balcony cabin. It was great to be able to sit out on the balcony and read a book on sea days or in the afternoon. The bathroom, although small, had a lot of storage space and was clean (no yucky shower curtain either). There was an outdoor pool/spa, which was always quiet busy and therefore we mainly used the solarium indoor (adults only & heated pool). The sunbeds were very comfortable and abundant. The Restaurant variety was great and the main buffet had a great variety of food options. The day-spa was wonderful. I loved starting each day with a visit to the Persian garden to use the steam/sauna room and relax on the heated beds. We didn’t see any of the shows whilst on board as none of them really interested us. The overall age group was 45- 65year olds, so although we were a lot younger than most passengers we actually preferred this. We had no desire to be stuck on a cruise ship with passengers chugging back beers and shots with crazy, noisy pool parties. We found all fellow passengers to be very pleasant. We booked most of our tours through the ship prior to departure. We didn't want to risk missing out on any preferred tours so chose to book them well in advance. ROME: We did the tour with the cruise line that visited the Colosseum (inside), Roman forum, Trevi fountain, The Vatican & lunch at a restaurant. We were so glad we did as the line to get in to the Colosseum was huge! We were able to skip the line and went in a side entrance. My husband loved this tour and Rome was his favourite port. It was very rushed and fast paced but we were glad we got to see everything. NAPLES: This was my favourite port as we booked a "Capri on your own" tour through the ship. We boarded a ferry across to Capri. The tour itself was not particularly organised, although as it was "on your own" we didn’t expect a lot! The buses that were to take all the passengers up the mountain in Capri were disorganised and no particular system seemed to be in place with passengers jumping on buses here, there and everywhere and other tour groups getting on the same buses etc. It took quiet a while to finally get a seat on a bus and up the mountain. The bus ride up the mountain was breath taking in more ways than one. The roads are so narrow and there is very little space between the bus and the huge cliff drop-off! Once again strange road rules, so there were many frightening moments with other cars navigating around us up the winding mountainous roads. The trip was well worth it though and the town at the top was stunning. Our guide instructed us of the main sights to see and how to get there, best restaurants and the meeting point at the end of the tour. This was all the information we needed and we enjoyed exploring at our own pace. We visited Vila San Michele which was perched on the edge of the mountain and offered the most spectacular view (see attached images). We then explored the quaint town and home of limoncello and enjoyed the picturesque views on offer. We had lunch at a restaurant on the edge of the mountain and it was the most delicious pizza and caprese salad (the town where caprese pizza was invented). The shopping is great with a variety of boutiques and lovely jewellery on offer to stock up on souvenirs. After meeting at the designated meeting place we made our way down the mountain on the funicular. We were then transferred across back to Naples and the ship. TURKEY: We waited until we were on board to book this tour, as at the time the Australian Smart traveller website was advising against visiting certain areas in Turkey. We spoke to the Shore Excursions tour desk and they said it would be fine and was safe at that time, so we went ahead and booked a tour. We boarded a bus at the port and made our way up to The Virgin Mary's house and the ancient city of Ephesus. We then had time at an Events centre where there was a buffet lunch and show. The lunch was tasteless and inedible and the show was boring. This part of the tour was a complete waste of time and money. We then had time back at the port to tour the town. We didn't particularly feel safe in the town and the shops were very dirty and had nothing of interest so we rushed back to the ship. SANTORINI: We didn't book a tour in this port and instead explore on our own. We got a little bit lost for a while but managed to find a shopkeeper that pointed us in the direction of a bus stop so we could make our way up to Oia. The view from Oia was amazing. Santorini is extremely busy and the narrow pathways around the cliff are packed with tourists trying to capture this pretty, piece of paradise. There are many shops, restaurants and cafes on offer. After having lunch at a cute little restaurant with caldera view we made our way back down through the other villages. We then had the tedious task of climbing down the many, many, many stairs to the boat tender. The line for the cable car to get down was way too long, so we had no choice. The stairs (588 in total) are very steep, slippery and littered with donkeys, so if you are not fit or have mobility issues I would recommend planning your day accordingly. There is an option to ride the donkeys down the steps, but we considered this cruel as the animals are left out in the hot sun all day with very little water. MYKONOS: There was an option to take a free bus from the cruise port in to Mykonos town which we opted for. Mykonos was very pretty and a lot smaller than we had imagined. The water was the beautiful, azure blue seen in postcards with a backdrop of the white wash buildings. We spent the day wandering around the pretty cobblestone walkways, looking through the many boutiques/shops and went to the beach for a swim and to look at the famous windmills. We then decided to walk back to the cruise port as opposed to taking the shuttle. I wouldn’t recommend doing this as it is very hot and there are no footpaths. MALTA: The cruise docked in Valetta and we booked a tour to the blue grotto through the cruise ship. Unfortunately due to weather condition we were not able to participate in the boat portion of the tour (when the swell is to rough the boats are unable to enter the grotto). We instead had the opportunity to tour the fishing port which had markets, restaurants etc . We then took a bus ride out to the blue grotto to view from above. The weather wasn’t great; therefore the water wasn’t as blue as it would normally be on a clear day. ATHENS: We booked a tour of Athens through the cruise ship. Athens was our least favourite port. The City is extremely dirty and covered in graffiti. We saw the Acropolis from the outside and visited Plaka. We couldn’t wait until the tour was over. We encountered some weather towards the end of the cruise and the boat was rocking and rolling around. A high number of passengers were not well, although we were fine. The pool was closed and walking outside was near impossible. This didn’t affect our overall experience though as we knew we were cruising after summer and the weather is never guaranteed on any holiday. Overall we loved this cruise and the variety of ports. Celebrity was great to cruise with, so much so that we have booked another cruise from Australia to New Zealand this year! Happy Cruising to you!!! Read Less

We have used the company before and like it, so an early birthday treat became essential this year. My husband unfortunately injured his back on travelling to Manchester for our early morning flight which troubled him somewhat and he sought help from acupuncture in the spa club over three seperate days which eased it somewhat, but no dancing for us! The service from room, dining, bars and all staff throughout were excellent, any query was met with complete assistance. We would have liked less volume throughout most of the theatre productions in which we were irritated by distorted sound which covers a multitude of vocal sins, ( you can guess we are singers!) and served to cloud an excellent house orchestra who were smack on the money. It was a shame as the dance productions were nice and the compere is the best we have seen despite the Captains repeated warnings about him! Overall music in other areas was reasonable, but jazz was not quite for many people as they felt it a little too dark and a lot of the bass players work was although technically good, a bit repetitive and there were too many long passages of solo work that became tiresome from him. Drummer and pianist were very good though. All in all though, this was well up to standard by Celebrity Well Done Read Less

This was our first Cruise. Our flight to Barcelona was fine. But didn't really give you time to visit the City. At Embarkation there were large crowds, seemed to take ages, but once the desks opened it got moving. Disembarkation seemed to be smoother. Celebrity Equinox was a lovely ship. Large, but not so you felt lost. Our cabin was very comfortable, large cosy bed. Tv, fridge and a sofa to relax on. The bathroom was small but everything we needed. Our cabin was very clean & tidy. Well maintained every morning & evening. We dined each evening at different times in the main restaurant. Our waiter Reggie and his helpers couldn't do enough for us, making our evening. The food was great, lots of choice, and always tasty. On our anniversary we were given a surprise of a cake with a candle. That was very sweet. Entertainment in the Theatre was very good. The service was top draw. Friendly staff in all departments. We enjoyed The Martini Bar and tea in the afternoon. The boat was so clean and tidy, I liked the sanitizer which was offered before you entered the Restaurants, and main areas. We enjoyed the excursions we went on, guides knew there stuff, giving good information about the cities we visited. We throughly enjoyed our trip, we have booked another one for next year. Read Less

Chose this based on recommendations of two different people who had been on this ship. This was our first cruise ever, and we were very pleased with our experience. First of all, 100% of the staff were friendly, helpful, upbeat- even the ladies who clean the bathrooms were cheerful and helpful. All of the food was excellent- we loved the main dining room- I was very impressed with the menu choices, the service, the quality of the food- they run a very efficient operation, consistently quick service, great food - I was amazed they could do this with so many people to serve. We ate in 4 specialty restaurants - again great, especially Murano. The few shows we saw were excellent. Loved the Corning glass show. Enjoyed our evening drinks in the Sunset Bar. Lovely veranda cabin- plenty of room, good sized bathroom. Very rough weather the last day (40 knot winds) but this ship handled it very well. We sailed from Barcelona through the Mediterranean, back to Barcelona. We have already booked cruise #2 on Celebrity Silhouette- Baltic cruise ( the Equinox is moving permanently to the Caribbean) Read Less

We had fresh fruit every morning and canapes around 3. It seemed like every time we left the room someone straightened it up! The service and food was fabulous! Everything was on time and well done. The staff was so helpful. We had select dining which meant we could eat when we wanted to. We chose to stay at the same table most nights. We got to know our waiter, asst waiter and Sommlier! The nightly shows were pretty good. It was fun to be in a theater and enjoy a show with others. We meet many wonderful people on the cruise on on the excursion which we did privately. The ports were fantastic. Each one was very different and exciting. We had only one day of rain. The sea days were some of our favorites. Embarkation and debarkation was very easy. We will definitely do it again!! Read Less

We were first-time cruisers and we were delighted to have taken up a recommendation from an acquaintance who cruised on Equinox last October. We booked our own flights and hotels because we could not get direct flights from our home location - so our first encounter with Celebrity was at the Port of Barcelona. Check in was rather drawn out but I suppose when you try to check in over 2,700 people it does take time. Once aboard Equinox we were impressed by the spaciousness and cleanliness of the public areas and were equally impressed by our Concierge Class Stateroom with balcony. The welcoming fruit and sparkling wine were delightful. During our entire stay aboard the ship we could find no fault with our two concierges - Gerry and Wiyan. They seamlessly attended to their duties always with a smile and a chirpy hello. The ship information sheets which appeared each evening laying out the following day's itinerary and activities was excellent and we were able to plan our on-board time easily. Tannoy announcements were kept to a minimum but we awaited our Captain's daily "Hello, it's me again" eagerly! What a lovely dry sense of humour and his daily quotations were priceless! We mainly chose to eat in the Ocean View Restaurant because we had fellow first time cruisers who preferred self-service to waiter service. When we return to Celebrity we will come without them and will make far more use of Silhouette dining and may well sample Murano and Tuscan as well. However, I must say, the food in Ocean View was excellent. I could not fault it and I found that I sampled lots of different types of food that I would never have ordered in a restaurant - thank you Celebrity for widening my culinary tastes. We became addicted to the theatre and never missed a show although we have to admit that on several occasions the sound volumes were far too high for some of the audience and we noticed people exiting the theatre early on more than one occasion when the music got excessively loud. I spoke to the sound technician one evening and he informed me that he was careful not to exceed the 92dB level but I felt that the approached that level far too often!! That said the standard of the entertainment in the theatre was of a high standard. [Unfortunate that Tenors of Rock had to repeat part of their routine on their second appearance because of a technical problem with their pre-recorded backing tracks - I am sure an hour with the Equinox orchestra could have solved that problem for them because the Equinox orchestra led by Ross "from Philadelphia in Canada" were outstanding and so versatile. Most live entertainers on the cruise praised the orchestra for their ability to come up with their music within one rehearsal period usually of just an hour!!] So high praise for the orchestra, also high praise for Front Row, the band who mainly performed poolside and in the Grand Foyer. Their range of styles was immense, from 40's standards to current pop they played it all with consummate ease. Oh and last but by no means least there was this tiny South American with a dodgy accent whose English was none too good - our Cruise Director, Alejandro Tortorelli. He was everywhere, he did everything, he was Mr Equinox. Please don't lose him Celebrity - he is worth as much to you as another little Argentinian is worth to FC Barcelona!! Shore excursions:- we only took two shore excursions to Rome and to Pompeii but both were very well organised, the coach transfers were effected on time with good drivers and modern luxury coaches. The guides were excellent and very approachable. Port facilities:- From excellent to average to indifferent I would say. Civitavecchia [for Rome], Kusadasi, Athens, Mykonos and Valletta were excellent to average but Salerno was not good - a working port where the coaches had to dodge in and out between the heavy lorries and piles of aluminum ingots. At Santorini we were tendered ashore which was fine if a bit claustrophobic!! Overall:- Ship 10/10; Crew 10/10; Entertainment 10/10; Itinerary 9/10. Would we go with Celebrity again - yes we would and most probably will once we have saved up enough!! Read Less

We had to reschedule this cruise from last year which gave us the opportunity to add 5 days up front to explore Barcelona. We are so glad we did as there was so much to see and take in. We want to go back. The cruise was fantastic - the weather perfect, Celebrity's staff was friendly and helpful; the ship was spotless, Blu's food was even better and I so appreciate the accommodations for a gluten free diet. The Medical staff and Guest Relations very helpful when I had GI issues and was confined to the stateroom. Guest Relations provided complimentary water, room service, and movies. And Nolan took great care of our stateroom and sterilized the stateroom. The AquaClass stateroom was spacious, even with storing a closed wheelchair. We had more than enough room for storage. The European shower feels wonderful and the bathroom amenities are lovely. We used and enjoyed the Persian Room and loved being in the "quiet room" at the front of the ship on the AquaClass deck for a phenomenal view of the ship leaving each port. Because I fractured my leg prior to the cruise I was in an air cast and a wheelchair. We arranged tours with private companies to accommodate my needs. All three were fabulous; the guides so knowledgable and willing to takes us places we wanted to experience. (Shore Excursions only had one excursion for a wheel chair and it was sold out. Perhaps Celebrity could organize more excursions for handicapped.) Celebrity does a great job not only with getting on and off the ship at the ports but providing port information about transportation, sites, safety, and maps. A highlight was going to the cathedral in Palma de Mallorca. We went in the morning when the sunlight was streaming through the rose stained glass window behind the altar. The whole back of the cathedral was lit up in rainbow colors. Magnificent. We thoroughly enjoyed the musicians on board - such a breadth of talent. The evening entertainment, both the shows and the guest artists were delightful, funny, upbeat. My disappointment was with the Canyon Ranch Spa. I was really looking forward to some sessions at the Canyon Ranch Spa after having fabulous body and facial treatments on our Norway cruise, October, 2014. This time I was very disappointed in what I consider “lack of integrity” in marketing. Dr. Harry Ho in ‘pitching’ the acupuncture stated over and over the first two days on board that all his clients from the United States said they got reimbursed by their insurance companies for his acupuncture services. He said that on the last day of treatment he would provide me with a receipt having all the information needed that I could submit to my insurance company so I’d receive reimbursement. (I signed up for 12 sessions*). The receipt he gave me has his registration number. However, it lacks the CPT and ICD codes for acupuncture service and there is no diagnosis given so my insurance company will not accept the receipt. I feel Dr. Harry falsely made statements about insurance reimbursement that he couldn’t back up. I also had a hair wash and blow dry on a port day at 11:30 am and the stylist charged me full price for a sea day. When I realized it, I went to Guest Relations and they took care of the error. I was unhappy and disappointed in this “lack of integrity” by two of the Canyon Ranch Spa Club staff. * I did have improvement in my leg with the 12 acupuncture sessions with Dr. Harry for which I am happy and grateful. We loved this itinerary (Barcelona, Majorca, Gibraltar, Cartagena, Lisbon, Cadiz, and Malaga). There was an oversight in Barcelona, Lisbon, and Malaga. The sea days were spaced perfectly and the weather during the entire cruise was sunny and warm. We were pleased with the little things that Celebrity does to make its guests feel special. In particular, upon returning from a long tour day, the crew was at the entrance of the ship with chilled towels and cool water for the exhausted guests. The public bathrooms throughout the ship were clean and cleanliness was apparent in all areas. The only downside was the small public areas where activities were held. They were crowded and there just wasn't enough room for people to sit. The shows in the theater were mostly boring, but there were fun activities before and after the production numbers. Most memorable was the several nights of silent disco. Everyone wore headphones. Overall, we enjoyed this cruise very, very much. Read Less

Everyone we talked to suggested we try a Celebrity Cruise, having completed 30 other cruises with different companies we decided to give it a go, Largest ship we have ever been on, oozed luxury in most areas always sunbeds available, Removed the gratuities once on board, however were reminded about them the day before we disembarked by letter with suggested rates to give. Tipped our cabin attendants only because their service was over and above expected. Inside cinema was very poor dark and dingy with very small screen, needs to have movies under the stars. The self service, open cafe was excellent with choice of food, very well presented. Silhouette Restaurant was used for any time dining, service was very slow and the tables were never ready when we arrived at 6.00pm even though the doors opened at 5.45pm. The Sky Observation Lounge, seemed to only have anything on after 10,30 p.m. Which was no good for people off on trips early the next day. This could have been used more for other entertainment during the evening, lots of people were saying, the timings on the ship were wrong, there seemed to be " dead times ", when nothing was happening , this was said by various ages young and middle ages, so not only us noticing it, strange really. The entertainment team, performed twice in the evening 7 p.m. and 9.p.m. shows were average, have seen better elsewhere. They only did about 4 or 5 nights, out of a 13 night cruise, other variety guests we saw were not brilliant, although the first act Tenors of Rock. were outstanding. The shops were very expensive, and took up to much space on the ship, suggest they rethink this, and use it for passenger entertainment, Music in a few bars is not enough for a ship this size!! sorry really not impressed !! Beautiful Ship, big bag of not a lot, shame really, would we go again, don't think so . Read Less

This is my second Celebrity cruise (the first was on the Millenium along the inside passage of Alaska) and it was fantastic. I really like the Celebrity cruise ship line as there clientele is generally more mature and there are not noisy children running around unsupervised by parents everywhere. I stayed in a Celebrity Suite (room number 1110) and the suite was beautiful. The room attendtants were very attentive and kept my suite immaculate. Truthfully it was probably more space tan I needed but I loved having a bathroom with a bath tub. My bacony was huge - really huge! This suite was on what cruise ships call the hump so the balcony was a lot larger than my parents Celebrity Suite balcony (they stayed in room number 1275 and were just as pleased with their suite and cruise experience). I completely recommend this suite it was amazing. What really made this trip so fantastic was the staff. Both our butlers (Alex and Emir) were fantastic and they had a friendly competition as to who could provide the best service throughout the cruise! Impeccable service was received by both Alex and Emir throughout our trip. I can't talk highly enough of Luminae, the new restaurant for passengers staying in suites. The food here was impecable and the restaurant never served the same meal twice - every day there was a completely new 3 course menú. The staff here are extremely well trained in fine dining service and they were all very profesional and friendly. The Luminae staff went above and beyond every visit and really made this trip memorable (in particular Florin, Nicolina, Gaga and Mikaelo). We were also priveleged to be invited to have dinner in Silk Harvest with the Chief Engineer, Theo, who also invited us to tour the ship's engineer room which was really interesting. This was a real unexpected treat we thoroughly enjoyed. We did four tours with the cruise ship and only one disappointed because the headsets didn't work properly and we couldn't hear anything the guide was telling our group. The one thing we didn't appreciate was the upselling in Canyon Ranch Spa. I am not a fan of the hard sell or upselling and was not impressed when I specifically put on my Spa form that I did not want any upselling during my massage that they tried to upsell me anyway. It is not relqxing to have someone pushing a product or extra massage on you when you are at the spa already indulging in a massage with the whole objective of relaxing!!!! One last mention to the trivia staff - we had a lot of fun at the trivia events we atended even though the questions were definitely skewed towards America we really appreciated the work they put in to run these fun events. Hello! We chose this cruise because of the Itinerary, all across the Mediterranean, starting in Istanbul and finishing in Barcelona. However, this changed before departure, given the events in Turkey, Celebrity decided to skip Istanbul and we shipped from Piraeus in Athens. The itinerary was still good enough and we kept the plans. No regrets. The overall experience was incredible! Very smooth embarkation process, the ship is beautiful and huge! We were somehow in a budget so we had an inside cabin which was very spacious with lots of room for storing, good shower and restroom. Certainly and accounting on the amount of time you actually spend in the stateroom you do not need more. I would definitely book an inside cabin again to save some good money. Food very good. The main dinner Silhouette is outstanding, you could easily skip the specialty restaurants because of this. Ocean View buffets were always good and fresh. We had the 3 dinner package so: - Tuscan Grill - good dinner but not super special, you can easily skip this with no regrets. - Silk harvest - Pretty dishes and good food. Recommended. - Murano - Great experience! Recommended. The on board entertainment and activities seemed sometimes a little repetitive and I don't want to say dull, but yeah... maybe we being Latin Americans (34 yo Mexican Couple) are more used to other kind of more playful and inclusive fiesta. I would recommend more variety on the music in the pool area and more repertoire of the live music. It was the same music always again and again!! Very odd. In a second thought, maybe the entertainment was not perceived as super good since the demographics of the cruise were +60 yo people and they don't go along very easily. The theatre shows were great, I enjoy every single night of them. The one with the big hat in the scenario is an outstanding-Cirque du Soleil-level act. Great singers! Service was GREAT!!!!.... must of the time. Very smiley and friendly staff. The only place it was not as friendly was at the grill up the pool, where you get hamburgers and hot dogs, staff there was grumpy, but I can see why, it was so hot and standing so much time at the grill doing burgers must be painful!! The Shore excursions we took with Celebrity were good, and very nicely organized. However, I only recommend this for large cities with little time to see all so you will have the tranquility of not being left by the ship if something goes wrong or you're late. Otherwise, there are cheaper and reliable options elsewhere online like Viator. Or go around and explore yourself if the destination is a small town and not difficult to access. We would certainly do it all again with Celebrity and the Equinox! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had never been to Turkey and Greece, so losing Istanbul was a disappointment, although understandable. And this was our first Celebrity cruise which we wanted to try. the staff was excellent. All of them! the food in the dining room was excellent. the Bacio Café was probably our favorite spot, and with the guitar player...outstanding! the live band and sometimes DJ, before our 830 dinner was also great...nice to be able to have a few dances before going into the dining room for dinner. the only thing that really bothered us is that we had the late night dinner spot at 830pm and it would have been great to go to a show after dinner. we did go to the Sky Lounge on most nights and usually the music was pretty good, especially the first few nights. but after the first week, the music selection in the Sky Lounge started to waiver. there weren't too many people in attendance, especially after 1030pm. so instead, it would have been great to go see a comedian or some type of entertainment. we really missed that as on other cruises there was always entertainment after the late dinner seating. for this reason, we may go with another cruise line for the next 10 yrs, and then when we're a bit older, come back to Celebrity. all the ports were good, for some we made our own travel arrangements, ie Rome and Florence. we thought Celebrity should have offered a shuttle and a 2-day pass for Dubrovnik as 13 euros each seemed to be a bit much to go into the Old Town, especially when you would have to pay that again if you wanted to go into town the next day as well. My husband and I have taken three other cruises on two other lines. This was our first Celebrity cruise. We were told it was a notch above many other cruise lines, but we didn't see that really. We loved the Equinox, the food was outstanding, the entertainment pretty good, the excursion and transfer we took were great, the cabin service was good except the steward forgot about every other day to stock something...once wash cloths, once toilet paper, once Kleenex, once shampoo. Everything else in our cabin was great. We loved having a balcony. We arrived in ports right on the scheduled times. The waiters in the Murano Restaurant (Olga, Daniel and another gal whose name I can't remember) were SO good at their jobs and did their work with a smile. We really appreciated their good service. Made the meal even better (and the food there was out-of-this-world delicious!) On our visits to the customer relations desk, we were treated great and every question answered with a smile. Good work, Celebrity team!! Read Less

I was very happy with the ship overall - its cleaniness and facilities were great, the syaff were happy and helpful but felt very let down by the quality, and choice of the food in the Oceanview Cafe (buffet). It was often cold and uninspiring and tasteless.and on a 13 day trip it got very boring. Food at the Silhouette Restaurant was also only OK and although the menu changed every day it was small portioned and average. We went on a P&O cruise earlier in the year and their Pantry ( buffet style) was far better. I was more than happy with my cabin but felt the staff cold be a lot more knowledgeable in regards to what was available at the ports of call if you chose to do your own thing and not take one of their expensive off shore excursions. I felt there could have been more guidance. Read Less

We went on this cruise for our 40th anniversary. We had seen what we considered a really good deal on one of the websites which included prepaid gratuities, a classic drink package, and $450 on board credit. I would say that the ship was absolutely wonderful. We had 2700 passengers and 1500 crew and it never seemed crowded (except in the theater occasionally). There are so many public areas spread around the ship that you can always find a place to relax and be alone (well, maybe not alone). We ate most dinners in the dining room. The service was great! The food was inconsistent, They were able to cook steaks exactly the way I like them (medium rare) every single time and several of the meals were excellent, but several did not live up to the description in the menu.. I also happen to like spicy food--not necessarily "hot"--just with spices added. The food seemed somewhat bland. My waiter offered to bring me hot sauce or Tabasco, but adding hot sauce at the table was not what I had in mind. We also ate one night at Murano and one night at Silk Harvest. The food and service was excellent at both restaurants. As for entertainment: that was inconsistent too. 2 of the shows that had guest entertainers were very good, but a couple of the guest entertainers were very mediocre and one was just plain terrible. The productions put on by the singers and dancers are not for us, but they are talented. It seems to me that all of the lectures and classes end up trying to sell you something. Really, all the up sell gets very annoying. Also, the gift shop has ridiculous prices on most items. My husband developed a cold late in the cruise and had to pay $18 for a bottle of Dayquil! Also, the cost of the internet package! Only one package is offered at $299! We took 2 tours with the ship--both of them overpriced, but we used OBC. The one we took to Chania was pretty good, but substituting Chania for Athens--definitely not the same. The other one was transportation to and from St. Peters Square in Rome with a tour guide. We usually could not tell if she was speaking Italian or English, especially when she started to talk fast. Also, coming back to the bus, she walked so fast we could hardly keep up with her. We scheduled most of our other tours with local vendors and while they weren't all 5 star tours, they were much more reasonably priced and did not have 30 to 40 people on them.. Since this was our first time to Europe and our first cruise over a week in length, we learned a lot, But we had a great time and have wonderful memories. Read Less

Traveled with a group of 8. We arrived in Athens late in the afternoon and the embarkation was very easy. The shuttle provided by the cruise line (not free) was very convenient and much easier than trying to find a cab. The driver was waiting when we arrived and left immediately to take us to the ship. The service in the dining room was great and the room stewards did a superb job. The food had high points and average points but there was always something that appealed. Always love Celebrity but sometimes feel the prices are getting a little out of hand. This particular cruise was well priced and included air. The ports were particularly appealing and we were given plenty of time in port. Two ports were over night which is nice - gives a different perspective. The disembarkation was painless but the time spent at the airport was very long. Overall the cruise spent with friends was great and we will look forward to doing it again.. Read Less

We enjoyed the cruise. Ship is good and well laid out . It is our 4th cruise on the Equinox. Staff are generally all excellent and helpful. I am always amazed that they are able to maintain the quality of food in the regular dining room for the number of people they serve and highly recommend booking the other restaurants for a truly awesome experience. My only disappointment was when in port there is limited options for lunch - the buffet or burger place. We opted for burgers one day and they slapped a piece of cheese on a nearly cold patty and plopped it in a bun. No effort made to heat it up and when advised burger was cold just shrugged shoulders and wasn't at all interested. Out of all the other great food that was just a minor disappointment. Recommend trying out martini bar as well as World class bar for a very interesting experience - well worth it just for entertainment value. We originally booked this cruise because it was leaving from Istanbul so it was sad that they changed embarkation to Athens but with what is going on in Turkey it definitely was best to be safe. We thoroughly enjoyed our first cruise experience, overall being excellent and we had a fantastic 25th Wedding anniversary. All the staff and crew were great and were always full of smiles and created a wonderful atmosphere and the ship was extremely well maintained and clean (even to my wife's ocd expectations on cleanliness and hygiene). The staff in Blu were exceptional, in particular of those who served us, Rey, Kayna and Victor who were outstanding - it was our 25th wedding anniversary and we were treated like royalty, nothing was ever too much trouble for them, there only wish was to please us. Our stateroom attendant Danisha was extremely attentive and performed well above expectations. As first time cruisers we took a lot of time in preparation, using the internet and the Cruise Critic roll call to gain information on the best type of cruise to suit us based on age range, dining, entertainment and destinations and value for money. In most areas this cruise met those needs, only failing in a few areas: Details of facilities in state room - only one Euro power point. No kettle in room. Very expensive to get clothes ironed after a long journey to ship. Limited channels and information on TV in Room Late night entertainment not based on age/taste of people that were attending - advertised as top 40 but was actually playing loud Latino music. As it was not well attended it would have been better in Quasar rather than the Sky lounge. Overall the dining/bar experience was exceptional but entertainment could be improved upon. It was disappointing that Istanbul was cancelled as point of embarkation but understandable given the safety concerns. The port change from La Spezia to Livorno was a great disappointment as we would have liked to have visited Cinque Terre. For anyone not too interested in port excursions (hard sell by Celebrity- best to book independently as we did) the facilities on port days were restricted - breakfast in Blu finished early rather than later - we would have liked a lie in after a late night. Too many luxury shops and not enough basics - the products offered on sale were poor value for money - what was the point of having an art auction every day? The Spa prices were ridiculously high - my wife booked an appointment, the time was not made clear and was charged $80 for 15 minutes of seriously bad hair styling (damaging her hair - hot hair dryer on dry hair with no products) - we did however receive a full refund after complaining to the manager. First cruise to celebrate our 40th wedding, had an issue with guest relations which they couldn't resolve and not happy with their attitude. that being said we had fantastic service in Blu restaurant and the cabin staff. Don't like the heavy pressure selling. Organized our own excursions which saved at lot compered to celebrity equinox and met some really nice people. entertainment was a bit limited, one group which moved around the ship sang the same songs for the 13 nights, no change at all. Great to see so many countries packed into the cruise, shame about Istanbul, but we go back independently to see this great city. found the service in the bars good but the attitude a bit lacking, had a run in with a member of bar staff telling me they didn't have a particular beer even though I had seen it the day before, when challenged it suddenly appeared. will cruise again not sure it will be with Celebrity Read Less
