As a seasoned cruiser on RCL, Celebrity and DCL (11 cruises over the past decade) I was a looking forward to our Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Celebrity Equinox with a great deal of excitement and heightened anticipation. Unfortunately, not only were my expectations not met but my desire to return to Celebrity have been extinguished completely. There has been a marked decline in service and customer service that was palpable throughout the entire voyage, particularly from the dining waitstaff, room service personnel and bar tenders. Below is a detailed account of our cruise with highlights of both great and poor service. Please note that this review was written from the perspective of a group of ten (four connecting veranda cabins) composed of four adults and six young children between the ages of 6 and 5. Miami Departure 1. Porter service at the Port of Miami was subpar. Had to take my own bags out of the car and place them with the other bags. One porter started screaming to bring bags down an additional 300 feet toward him and then demanded a tip (for doing nothing). 2. Registration was slow moving (in the Captain’s Elite Line). Agent was initially rather unfriendly but warmed up towards the end when she realized that my wife and I had four young children with us (triplets + one). 3. Picture and Security personnel were friendly and managed their respective queues with precise efficiency. 4. Lobby welcome on the ship was ok but I noticed that Mimosas were no longer offered (just champagne now). Also orange juice was not offered for the children. 5. Cabins were ready at 1pm. Attendant was cordial and friendly. 6. Staff at Sea Camp were friendly and attentive of our children’s needs. I must say that the staff at the Camp at Sea were the exception to the mediocre service experienced on this ship. They consistently went above and beyond. 7. Lunch at the buffet was less than ideal. Had to walk the entire floor twice before finding a table that would accommodate six people. When a table was found it was dirty and was not cleaned by the staff until we were almost done with our meal. This was an omen. 8. We had the early dining service and it left a lot to be desired for. While food was ok the service was not up to our previous cruising experience in Celebrity. Waiter was barely communicating and looked displeased to be there. Assistant waiter did not bring iced tea until I repeatedly asked and reminder her. Coffee was brought but no cream. Had to flag down the waiter from the other side of the dining room. It was a very unfortunate experience, so much so that we refused to return to the main dining room for dinner during the entire cruise. 9. Ordered room service for a late night snack. Delivery time was good. Waiter was friendly and food was great. Good experience, however as you will read below room service was hit or miss. Sea Day 1 1. Breakfast was had at the Ocean View Café. Same issue in that tables were packed but at least one was found relatively quickly and it was clean. Staff was welcoming and kid friendly. 2. Children attended the kids camp. They had a wonderful time and wanted to return. 3. Lunch was at the Ocean View Café. Got there when it opened and was able to secure a table in a secluded area of the dinning room. Food was better at lunch. 4. Had dinner again at the buffet. Head chef was great. They had a kids corner. 5. Interacted with guest services for questions. Service was top notch. San Juan 1. Went to the Café al Bacio in the morning to get coffee. Service was great. 2. Breakfast was delivered on time via room service but the food left much to be desired. The crab cakes Benedict looked and tasted like they came for a frozen food box. The hollandaise sauce was dried on the crab cakes. Save yourself the money (there is an extra charge for the crab cakes) It is not worth it. 3. Lunch at the Ocean View Café was great but too many people. There is a serious lack of etiquette on this ship exhibited by some my fellow cruisers, which is surprising given that this is supposed to be a luxury line. 4. The Old and New San Juan Excursion was great! This was our first time in San Juan and despite the extensive damages that I was expecting as a result of last year’s hurricanes (based on the media coverage) San Juan is back in business for tourism. I would definitely return. St. Thomas 1. Excursion to Magen’s beach. Ride there was half the fun! Beach itself was 8 out of 10. Water was clear but colder than what you would expect in the summer. Water had sea lice (microscopic jelly fish) Facilities were clean. 2. For individuals with an afternoon excursion that starts or meets at 12:15-12:30 there should be better lunch options between 11-12. The only available option was the Mast Grill which did not open until 11:30. Celebrity really needs to rethink this. 3. Visited the Excursion Desk to conduct an execution switch with less than 24 hours. After some push back the requests were accommodated. 4. Dinner at Sushi on 5 was perhaps the best meal had on the ship. There is a charge for everything but you can most definitely taste the difference. 5. Evening Camp at Sea programming was a blast. I cannot stress how wonderful the staff is. St. Martin 1. Island bus tour was great. Guide was informative. Not much to do on the tour expect shop. Extensive post hurricane damage is still visible. 2. This evening we decided to order room service for dinner and it was a disgrace. Order was delivered wrong. Twice. On the third attempt the server dropped iced tea all over our cabin. There was a clear lack of desire on her part to provide any semblance of quality service. Sea Day 2 1. I partook in the Behind the Scenes tour and it was rather informative. I learned that all food provisions for the entire fleet are shipped from Miami. Celebrity does not procure from local ports unless they run out of something or miss a shipment. Sea Day 3 1. Mast Bar staff provided horrible service. Did not even acknowledge my presence to indicate that they would be with me in a few minutes. This just cemented the lack of service culture which I found so very disappointing. Disembarkation in Miami 1. Disembarkation went smooth. Given the previous experience with the porters at Port Miami I did not use their services (despite their rather aggressive pitches). Overall impressions To summarize I will not return to Celebrity in the near future. I am fully aware that experiences vary and I am sure that others on this very cruise had a drastically different experience but for our group (4 adults and 6 young children that occupied four cabins) we did not receive the level of service from the wait staff that we had previously experienced on Celebrity and one has come to expect. There were pockets of excellence (room attendant, guest relations and kids camp) but those were grossly outweighed by the lackluster service of the dining room wait staff and bar tenders. Happy Cruising! Robert G. Read Less

Everything was great with exception of photography who did not seem interested in taking a quality photo but were more concerned with taking a quota of photos, the future cruise rep who made no effort to get to know us and our needs; therefore, missed the opportunity to book another cruise and the lack of variety of shore excursions as most were beach excursions. Tour in San Juan was awful, would never recommend. Pool is small, bitI dont go to use the.pool. Enjoyed all three production shows immensely. Exceeded expectations for cruise shows. Lots of talent on this ship. Recommend the wedding game and silent disco. Main dining room experience was phenomenal. from the quality of the food to the service provided by Yavuz, Steven. Belinda and Jaya. Nearly all the staff was friendly and smiles were abundant. Loved our balcony cabin and falling asleep and waking to the ocean sounds. Will definitely be back. Read Less

We had some credit on Celebrity. Since we live in Florida we decided to do a Caribbean cruise out of Miami and upgrade to Aqua Class. Some friends decided to go with us. Cabin was nice other than being really narrow (I painfully hit the bed several times). Cabin Steward was efficient; I asked for grapes and they were delivered by room service twice a day. The little canapés at 4 were nice too. Silly that mini-bard drinks cost extra since we had the premium drink package. Dining is Blu is terrific. Waiters, food, everything. A lovely oasis from the rest of the ship. Shows were quite good. The ship’s singers, dancers and acrobats were good but the shows just seem to lack something. Outside entertainers were excellent. We don’t like the crowds so didn’t like that the swimming pool was packed (lots of kids because of summer). Solarium was nice for adults. Dining in Oceanview buffet was depressing; there were just too many people tho food was pretty good. You sometimes had to fight for a table. Spa was overpriced as they all are. So silly really; they staff would be busy if they had reasonable prices. I had one massage and it was just okay. I think my masseuse had done too much that day. Ship was clean and in great shape. While I didn’t love cruise director Martin, he pulled it off and hosted some incredible parties. Trivia was fun. Read Less

Spent seven days with two friends to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on this wonderful ship couldn't find fault anywhere for the number of people on board never had to wait long for a drink or for a table in the restaurant. The staff all did everything and more to make our holiday run smoothly couldn't have asked for more the food was absolutely marvellous. The entertainment was first class wonderful shows with the on board entertainment group all staff were very attentive from the cabin boy bar staff and waiters. The two out door and one indoor swimming pools were good always plenty of sun beds for the days at sea. The three island Puerto Rico, St Maarten and St Thomas visit were good the stop overs at each was just about the correct length of time at each of them. The was our first cruise and would consider another. Read Less

We chose Equinox from many people that recommended the ship. We were completely satisfied. Tony and Joanna our servers were so pleasant and made our dining experience the best we have ever had. Dimitri our cabin attendent could not do enough for us. He was pleasant, helpful and gracious to us the entire week. All of the employees were lovely. The ship was so immaculately clean. Also Maarten was so genuine and approachable. Lovely disposition. The entertainment was so diversified, comedy was great and the singers and dancers were excellent. The theater was clean and easily accessable, never a wait. The meals in the Blu Dining Room were delicious and the room was beautifully decorated. Every server was excellent. The matrade was so gracious and extremely welcoming. The pools were clean and the staff at the pools and bars were very friendly and gave excellent service. We will definately do another Celebrity cruise. Read Less

My son chose this cruise and asked if we wanted to go with the family. He had been on Celebrity before and loved it. I found it to be comparable to another line we like in many ways and others it didn’t compare. Embarkation went well and quickly. I didn’t have to stand on too long a line to check in. The ship is well maintained and very nice, but our bed was not very comfortable and neither was the sofa in the cabin. I did not like the selection on the television of shows and movies and I couldn’t believe we had to pay for some of the movies. It was nice to be able to check our account though. The bathroom was nice and I liked the shower stall with doors instead of a curtain and it had a night light. Storage seemed poor as the drawers weren’t very deep or long, no nightstand except for a couple of tiny shelves and the closet was small for two people. There was storage above the bed but hard to reach if you are short. Our steward kept it very clean and was very friendly but he didn’t keep our ice bucket filled. Getting on and off the ship was easy. Lines were not long and I never felt crowded on the ship. We were always able to get a good seat in the theater for the shows as little as 15 minutes before showtime. Food on board was good. The breakfast menu in the dining room was the same every day and never changed. The meals at night were good. My favorite was the prime rib one night. The buffet had a large selection to choose from and the food was quite good there. A good selection of beverages, too. However, the tables were often dirty and plates not removed very often. No one offered to help carry my plates or get a drink. I walk with a cane. The production shows were quite enjoyable and the Motown group, Horizon, were great. Mike Wilson was a good clean comedian/impersonator. I did not enjoy trivia as they gave you no time to think before rushing on to the next question. The ports were not why I went on this cruise having been to them several times before. Even though open now, they are still recovering from the hurricane. Many of the locals thanked us for coming and supporting the economy so they can get back on their feet. A lot of repair work was going on and walking could be difficult in spots. Read Less

Going to give a few tips as well.. Going to write the bad stuff first...what we didn't like and why we were disappointed. 1. We prepaid in FULL for our airport to port transfer for all of us. When we arrived at the airport (we had hard time finding Celebrity booth) because they shared it with another brand. The people there were NOT trained, did NOT care and pretty much didn't give a crap about you!. We said our last names/our stateroom and the lady "did not find us on the list" as she said that the bus departed without us to the port. We walked to a young men behind the desk who was chatting with 2 females from Celebrity, he kept saying "you did NOT buy the transfer" when we did! I am glad that my mother had enough brains to print the paper where it stated that our transfer was pre-paid in full. She showed that paper to that young man and without any apology he said "Fine, I'll put you on next bus".... Guess what? We waited for 1.5 hours for that other bus at the airport! They will make you wait because they are there to make money and they want to have the bus to maximum capacity. On our way to the port the bus stopped elsewhere and picked up more people. It took us 2.5 hours from the plane arrival to get to the port! So do NOT buy the bus transfer! You'll be sorry! Better take taxi or uber. Upon arriving at the port, there was a HUGE line of people waiting! We filled out everything online and we had "express passes" I told that to one man and he told me "Everyone has Express pass, get in line!" The line was for another 1.5 hours!!!! 2.The room was good and clean. The closet space for your clothes is TINY. Our beds were split so there isn't enough leg room to walk to closet. Had to push the bed to left to open closet doors. 3.The bathroom.... Clean, BUT there were 3 of us in one stateroom (Balcony) and we only had ONE tiny shampoo bottle like 12OZ bottle! All of us have hair! How do you expect us to take showers at least once a day with a 12OZ ONE shampoo bottle??? Sometimes I take several showers per day.. The soap has no smell to it, it's orderless.. shampoo is very bad quality, doesn't produce much needed foam. We had to go to front desk to request more soap.... 4. In the bathroom the tissue paper was just missing! It was GONE! Also had to ask for that. The bathroom has a tiny trashcan that's inside the drawer... 5. There were not enough towels. Small towels were missing, and for 3 people there was just ONE towel... really??? The Restaurant : We were assigned to dine at Silhouette restaurant : We were sat at very long/lage table that'd sit 12 people. Why couldn't we pick just table for 3/4? We then requested for another table but for one day we sat at that table with strangers. Yes I understand it may happen, but there were plenty of tables for 4/3 people. After we were assigned the new table (on next day) our waiting stuff was ok, seemed friendly. But they are friendly only before you tip them :) 3 days into our cruise, the waiting stuff at dining room began behaving strangely. Our waiter one night was just NOT there and we sat for more than an hour without water or bread. Other waiters were walking by us as we didn't exist. Nobody cared. Then an assistant waiter came to us and we asked her if she could take our order? She said : "No I am only his assistant". Then another 45 min had passed and she finally told us "I can't find the waiter anywhere, let me take your order"... Couldn't she do it at the beginning?? She saw that we sat there for a while.... At the end of our meal which took 2 hours in total even though we came in when the restaurant opened, our waiter emerged and was telling us about his health issues and that he was at med check/nurse. Day 4 of our cruise. Our waiter greeted us and then began talking about his blood work and his uric acid. I guess when you are in your 40's that's the type of thing you talk during your dinner...AGAIN we waited for the food for a LONG time. We've missed the show! Day 5 at the restaurant Silhouette the same thing! 2 hours to eat our dinner we'd ALWAYS come in right on time, again we'd miss the show! The food was very meh. No flavor. The waiter insisted we take certain dishes. After he served those dishes, I didn't want to eat it. It wasn't what I had imagined it'd be. Again 2 hours to serve us, AGAIN missed the show in theater that had started at 7 p.m. sharp! On last day of our cruise (it was a 7 day cruise) we just didn't go to restaurant. Why bother? To listen about someone's blood and urine work? To eat medicare food or runny Creme Brulle? On deck 14 where the cafeteria was, the food was decent. One thing tho, it can be crazy there. At times might be impossible to find clean table. The staff there is very slow cleaning tables. The DRINKS : We had purchased our drinking package (non Alcoholic) I want to say, it's TOTALLY WORTH IT! But if you want plain water bottle, the staff will give you plain CHEAP water bottle like at Wal-Mart, for Evian water you have to ask for it by name! When dining at restaurant, only TWICE a man stopped at our table and asked what we'd like to drink. All other times and in deck 14 nobody ever asked... St.Maarten experience : Although I don't think it's ship's responsibility to protect it's guests while on land (maybe I am wrong) but my 15-year-old son and I witnessed animal cruelty/animal abuse at St.Maarten's island. A man (their native) in front of us threw a dog into ocean from pier. A dog landed on his belly and probably was hurting greatly. I recorded some of it on video. I didn't expect animal abuse! We were very upset seeing it and we left the island right away. I also asked one of locals to call the police so I could report it and she cussed me and told me "I ain't gonna call your police"... So yeah.. not the best cruise but just meh...I rank Royal Princess above so far. This is my 5th cruise. Read Less

Overall, a typically wonderful Celebrity cruise. Have sailed with Celebrity many times in the past and become used to the quality service throughout the journey. This time, sailed concierge class and was disappointed in the cabin service compared to previous experiences. Cabin steward shared that this was his first cruise and he was still in training, so I tried to be understanding. Not sure why Celebrity signed him to the concierge level without any mentor. Multiple problems throughout the cruise, none that were major, but over an 8-day cruise, the little things add up (i.e. no towels, no ice, always seemed to be in room when we needed access, etc) Dining attendant was fantastic which says a lot since we have had some very good servers in the past. Unfortunately, the sommelier not so good. After he recommended a wine we should try, found out that we owed $176.00 because he failed to tell he was doing the bottle instead of a glass and failed to share that there would be a cost above our usual premium package allowance. Two nights later, we dropped off a wine 2 hours before our dining time to be decanted and were promised it would be. When we arrived at dinner, it was still in the bottle and had not been opened. This was a cruise that was supposed to stop at Punta Cana. Like others, we never made it because the swells were too large for the tenders. Huge disappointment not just because we missed D.R. but it resulted in another back-to-back sea day experience. We were the only boat scheduled to be in Punta Cana for the whole month of May. Maybe Celebrity should appreciate why other lines don't go there? Read Less

We are RCCL Diamond Plus members having cruised with them 25 times. In February we decided to try the Celebrity Equinox and had a fabulous cruise. It was so good we decided to try another on the same ship and we were not disappointed. We liked the older crowd and the fact that not many kids were on board. Getting checked in and all documents was a breeze and took only 5 minutes to get on board the ship! Like our last cruise, when we set foot on the ship we were offered a glass of champagne, which was a really nice touch. We were scheduled to sail at 3.30pm but the rooms were not ready until 1.30 pm (this was a change in that before we had access to our room at 1.00) so we headed for the Ocean View buffet for lunch. In general, the food in the Ocean View is excellent! Our only complaint is that the coffee is really not hot but rather semi warm. Once we had access to our room we were surprised to find that our luggage was delivered by 2.30pm! We have never had it delivered that fast before. Our stateroom was great and fairly near the elevators (with no noise what so ever). Very convenient!! We had the usual safety briefing which featured a video. Oh the video is so boring! I suppose it is also necessary and required but the video needs work or needs to be changed. First and second day was at sea. We discovered one of the ship's bands, "Nu Images" and they were great. So versatile they could play anything from Reggae to Jazz to Pop. Just great. Our first port was San Juan. It was the usual as we arrived late in the afternoon and left after a few hours. Many of the shops or stores close early even though there are ships in port. Next stop was St. Maarten which is still recovering from Hurricane Irma. It will still be a while until they fully recover. Next day we visited St. Thomas. It too has still not fully recovered from the two hurricanes that hit it last fall. Shopping is just not like it use to be 10 or 20 years ago. Next stop scheduled at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Since there is no pier we would use tenders from our ship to get ashore. Once we set anchor and got one of the lifeboats out as a tender it was determined that the ocean was too rough to go ashore. The Captain made a decision and said we would skip Punta Cana! So the final stop was Nassau. We would have had a full day a sea getting there but since we left Punta Cana early we went slowly and took two days to get to Nassau. When we arrived we discovered that it was Bahamian Labor Day and all shops and stores were closed! This cruise we ate twice in the Main Dining Room and were impressed by the great service but felt the food was mediocre. Again I must mention the Martini Bar and the great bartenders there. Headed by Catalin and Rhory, these guys are Professional bartenders. Our second night there they each remembered what we were drinking from the first night. Always fun watching them perform their magic and mixing of drinks. These guys make Tom Cruise look like a rookie! I also have to mention our room attendant, Lindo. He was absolutely the best. The ship had all of its equipment in good shape and everything worked...pool, hot tubs, elevators. Everything clean and inviting. The Equinox is a wonderful ship. I am afraid that RCCL may have lost a couple of regulars to the Celebrity but then, they own Celebrity. We have reservations on the new Celebrity Edge and can hardly wait to sail on her. This was a great cruise! Read Less

Don’t both upgrading drinks package unless your a wine snob or want belvadere, great goose and premium whisky and gin Public areas nice, we had previously been on P&O Britannia for a 2 nighter and thought public areas better, bars and cafes good good thing about this ship it’s only 2300 something passengers so never feels overcrowded. Main restaurant quality very good and service excellent, speciality restaurants good tried silk harvest and murano which was our favourite, breakfast excellent in both self service and main restaurant, I put 15lbs on during the week so slim down first is my advice. Shows and entertainment good did not sit through a full show though but what we saw was good - pool area entertainment OK didn’t get to Roudy like some other ships All in all a great ship and good value Read Less

We chose to sail this ship for our 35 year anniversary due to the great reviews and they are indeed accurate. This was our best cruise ever and super relaxing and enjoyable. We never felt crowded as they space everything well and the service in every area of the ship was great. We will try to sail this ship again on our next cruise for sure. We did not use any of the ships excursion plans and freelanced it at the ports. We were not able to tender ashore in Punta Cana due to the large waves, but better safe than sorry. Our cabin was an interior stateroom and that worked well for us as it was on the 10th deck and very convenient. The food was great and the entertainment better than what we have experienced on other cruises. This is definitely an upscale experience from other cruise lines and worth the extra money in my opinion. Read Less

Miami is a great cruise port: efficient airport security; short taxi distance to the port; vibrant city life with lots of restaurants. Our embarkation went smoothly and we were grateful Celebrity allowed us to board slightly ahead of schedule! Overall the food was good. We didn't notice that the food in the specialty restaurants was any better than in the dining room (lunch or dinner), though the atmosphere was more intimate and the servers were more attentive (probably because they had fewer patrons to serve). The steaks were delicious while the seafood was unremarkable. Indeed, the one night Silhouette (the dining room) served lobster, it was inedible as was the one-scallop appetizer drowning in overcooked spinach. If you want vegetables with your meals, be sure to order a salad as your appetizer. Deserts were middling and occasionally good (lime key pie and lava cake). Cafe Baccio was the only place that served real coffee. The ocean view cafe and dining room said they served Lavazzo coffee, but everyone knew the difference. Shout-out to Satoko. The world class bar served great cocktails: shout-outs to Igor and Santos. The martini bar was loads of fun, but watch out the drinks are seven ounces each! The gastro bar was intimate, a nice place to talk and watch tele. The pool bar traffic was steady, as was the food bars. Classic offerings for average American eaters. We wish Celebrity would realise most cruisers today have a more sophisticated understanding of ethnic cuisines. We did appreciate the East Indian offerings at breakfast, but we would've like to seen more spicy, diverse offerings. It's definitely worth your while to upgrade from the classic to the premium package, if only to enjoy yourself. It really doesn't take long for it to pay off and you are on vacation. As for the evening entertainment, well someone other than Martin should do the hiring. I don't blame the professional singers, dancers and acrobats. We do blame the producers who directed them to scream and execute tired, boring choreography. The three comics were poor. Only the drunks in the audience were laughing when the last one (Al Ducharme) "performed" his toilet humour that keeps "getting him fired". Speaking of Martin, he should develop a different shtick. He's too old for I'm-a-6'5"-Dane-and-Mom-likes-me-best routine. Someone else should also fire Christine who shouts bingo instructions and thinks rude comments are funny. (e.g. Your son was my favourite child on this cruise when other parents with children nearby are listening.) We didn't care for the daily upselling of specialty restaurants and photos. The casino is the pitts, though they have a good selection of slot machines. Sorry, but a two dollar compensation prize for those who lost out in the woman's watch drawing after an hour wait was insulting. As for port stops, San Juan was quaint and fun. Lots of police around so we felt safe. Shop at Majesty Jewelers in Philipsburg, St. Maarten for quality jewelry at the best prices. Charlotte-Amelie had a beach and casinos nearby, but the main street was a disappointment. The shore excursions were nothing to write home about. If you want to see an aquarium, visit Atlanta because Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas will disappoint you. Our guide spent the entire time up-selling us on the Atlantis aqua-adventure park; poor her, it was her job. Also, June 1st is Labor Day every year in the Bahamas. Why were we misinformed about the parade time (noon to 4:30) and the stores being closed? Sapphire Beach in St. Thomas was a disappointment. Not only were two of the three ladies rooms plugged up, the water had too much sea grass to swim in. Worse, most of the coral was dead. There were very few fish. No one saw any sea turtles. (Hurricane Irma?) We had to skip Punta Cana in the D.R. Note to newbies: in ports where the ship is only tethered, only reserve excursions from Celebrity and independent companies who offer full refunds in case the Captain deems the waters unsafe. For those who are environmentally-conscious, you might wish to bring a coffee thermos and refillable water thermos. We didn't really spend too much time on the upper decks because we're bothered by cigar smoke. (Thank goodness Celebrity doesn't allow smoking in their casinos.) I wish Celebrity did a better job at stopping guests from smoking on their verandas as there are security cameras everywhere. We also wish Celebrity reminded guests to be quiet after eleven o'clock at night, but given the extremely-loud sound level of the entertainment, I guess that would be hypocritical. Finally, we didn't realise until the second-last day of the cruise how low employee morale was on board. I've never had so many employees urge and even beg us to mention their names in the guest survey. Some did so repeatedly and handed us slips of paper with their names on them. But, upon reflection, we realised this must've been the case because employees complained of their long-working hours, split shifts, poor accommodations and arduous working conditions. Read Less

We liked the fact there was also a choice of bars, and especially found the ice bar at the martini lounge very enticing. Those guys know how to mix a great cocktail.! The lawn on the top deck was a lovely quiet place to chill and have a quiet drink the pools were spotless and we loved the Jacuzzi. with pool service it was just heaven. It was lovely to have plenty of space to walk around if you fancied some exercise but not in the gym. There was glassblowing daily which was something very special. The room was lovely and cleaned daily with fresh towels when required. Read Less

Having not been on a cruise before I did a bit of research before picking this cruise - but mainly picked it because of the itinerary and I’m so glad I did. Celebrity was awesome! We were two mid 30s females having a girls holiday and couldn’t have asked for anything more. We expected an older crowd but it was mixed and not too many children (100 in total). The food was excellent in the dining room so only tried the Sushi restaurant on for lunch one day. Cruise Director Maartin was highly entertaining and full of energy. Our waiter was amazing and we received brilliant service. Excellent drinks and the Premium beverage package was well worth the money. Our balcony state room on level 8 was mid ship and a good location. It was much bigger then I expected and had plenty of storage. I have nothing bad to stay apart from I wish it was longer. Living in New Zealand required a lot of travel to get to Miami, but it was well worth it. Read Less

This was our first cruise and absolutely love it. The Equinox is beautiful decorated ship with a lots of sitting areas, Service, food and staff are awesome. We dined at Silhouette and food and service was excellent. The production staff is great;very talented singers, dancers and acrobats. We enjoyed the musicians playing in the lounges, poolside and atrium;had a nice mix of music. Captain Kate is charming and personable, very visible on board. Ship is in excellent shape, very clean and spacious, even thought it was sold out you never felt crowded. The crowd was a good mix of all ages, all well behaved.ports of call were good:San Juan,St Marten, St Thomas,Nassau. We were supposed to stop in Punta Cana but the water was to rough to get tender in,so the port was cancelled. Captain Kate took a good decision for guests and crew safety.I would recommend the Equinox as we are booking her again for next year. Read Less

The Equinox is a beautifully decorated ship with tons of sitting areas. Of course the service, food and staff are awesome but what really separates this ship is Captain Kate who is so personable and charming and Maarten the cruise director. The entertainment that Maarten and team lines up is amazing. The production staff is very talented singers and dancers, the acrobats are entertaining, The comedians were so funny especially AJ. I literally could not breath was laughing so hard. We loved the silent disco, the broadway review and the orchestra’s big band sounds. Definitely do the valet luggage service where they check your bags through to your final destination. If you do this you can leave the boat as soon as doors open. Shore excursions: St. Thomas - buck island snorkeling was awesome and the Castaway Girl III and crew (captain Ryan, CJ and Serina) were fantastic. There were approximately 20 of us on a very nice catamaran and we snorkeled in a marine preservation off of the coast. Bahamas - took taxi to Love Beach, very quiet but too rough for swimming St. Maarten- water taxi to nearby beach—too crowded Cabin: Aft concierge veranda- would definitely do again Read Less

We were on celebrity equinox from the 15th of april till the 23rd. The ports were amazing on the carribeans. Excellent service, food, drinks. Lots of choise of food in the Ocean view and changing menu in the Shilluette dining. We had classic drink package with wide selection of drinks and coctails. Clean areas, helpful and friendly staff around. Well organized programs. We had a photo package which we bought on the 2nd day. They had a really good offer and we got all our pictures from the ship with a nice folder and a dvd. Worth to get it. The only bad point was we were celebrating our honeymoon and my 30th birthday. We haven't received anything. My husband asked the relation desk to do some decoration for our table at dinner time but they couldn't do that. They said i'll get a suprise cake which has never arrived. So this was a bit disappointing. Otherwise everything was perfect. We will choose you in the future again. Read Less

This is more a query than a review - although suffice it to say that we had a wonderful cruise in every way and cannot wait to try the other ships/cruises by Celebrity. We booked Concierge with drinks package included. The entertainment, stateroom, food, service and cleanliness were outstanding - as were the staff. We had Captain Kate who was wonderful and never too busy to have a friendly chat with anyone who approached her. We only pre-booked one shore excursion in Puerto Rico which was very well organised and the tour guide was a mine of information. On other ports of call we did out own thing and found there were always excursions on offer outside of the port. Whilst on board, I was fortunate to win a Blue Chip Voucher for a five day cruise (a $10 bet on a spin the wheel in the casino). This has to be used by May 2019 . Has anyone else won and used one of these vouchers. Blue Chip have said that there is a face value of approx. £500. if used towards a longer cruise. Any advice would be very much appreciated. We were supposed to stop at Punta Cana but the water was too rough to get tendered in so the port was cancelled. The Captain, Captain Kate was very visible on board, very personable, loves to take selfies with you, make sure you say hello when you see her. First the hits: Philip and Okta in the 5th floor coffee shop were excellent. The staff in the kids club were enthusiastic and always engaged with the children. My kids loved the activities and were happy to go to the club. The specialty dining restaurants were worth the expense, although reservations were picked over quickly. The service in the main dining room was solid. Almost all of the staff seemed happy to provide service. Now the misses: Celebrity said the St Barths excursion was cancelled due to poor weather. In all of my trips to St Martin/St Barths the water was as tranquil as I have seen it. The trip was probably undersold and in my opinion, Celebrity chose to not support the excursion at a loss. That was disappointing in a cruise line that advertises itself as upper tier. The overall food quality was not what I would expect from a premium cruise line. Our room was hastily and frequently incompletely cleaned. The classic beverage package was of poor quality for the expense. It was frequently impossible to find seating for the lunch buffet. The Concierge level of service provided 1 (one) Concierge for all of the concierge level rooms. So it was basically a useless markup. Either save your money or upbrade to Aqua class which has a separate restaurant and nice lounge for the extra cost. Read Less

Loved our first time cruising on Celebrity... Great ship, fabulous food (in Blu) with superb service. Live music around the ship was also very good but the production shows were dreadful. Awful, nasal voices murdering current sounds with their dreadfully affected musical theatre tones. Other cruise lines really do better in this area, but for all other aspects Celebrity was fantastic. The two comedians that we saw were funny, but felt they'd do better if they were given the opportunity for an adult only show. A couple of times, you could feel them modifying their next move to ensure it was PG-13 all round. Getting on and off the ship was hassle free, with the exception of debarkation in Miami. Very long lines for immigration really slowed the entire process. Lots of stressed families and children melting down, which is a disappointing way to end your vacation. All in all though, loved our time on the Equinox! Read Less

Wanted more sea days, less kids, great service, fabulous food, good entertainment! Got it!! We knew going in not to expect Broadway shows, ice-skating, water shows, being constantly kept busy and needing to follow a daily schedule. Sometimes we like that. This time we wanted a bit less activity, quitter, more refined. Aquassorth it for Blu dining. The attention and service in Blu was outstanding. The food was very superior to what we've had in the dining room. We ate at Tuscan Grill, Silk Harvest, Murano, Sushi on 5 and loved them all. The premium drink package was fun to have! Super friendly staff in all venues. Excellent room steward. Easy on/off ship. 3rd time on Solstice class. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! My husband (53) and I (54) have been on 11 cruises-- all different Cruise lines. Celebrity has the best customer service and food hands down. Read Less

Our first Celebrity cruise was the last trip out of Miami on the Zenith before it was sold and service then was less than perfect so we cruised exclusively with Princess. We got a great deal on a Celebrity Equinox when it was repositioned to Miami last summer, so we decided to give them another try, unknown to us when we booked it was a Celebrity Presidents cruise and the itinerary, food and service were excellent! We decided to book again on the Equinox in order to see if Celebrity had improved or if it was just because LLP was on board. Well our question was answered. We had late dining which is 8:30 which we have decided is to late for us, we had also requested a table for two as we don't care to make small talk during our meals, we were assigned a table for six. The dining room didn't open until 8:30 and by the time we ordered we were not served appetizers until well after 9:00pm and we found on the nights we ate in the main dining room we didn't finish until after 11:00. The dining room food was nothing to rave about on several occasions at least one person at our table had to send back and entree. Portion sizes were small and not filling. We are not early riders and had breakfast in the OVC, the food there was always cold and we were unable to eat it, the scrambled eggs were always runny and undercooked. By day 3 I had reverted to eating cereal and fruit since these are meant to be served cold. On our night in San Juan they offered a discount in Silk Harvest so we decided to give it a try, we were pleasantly surprised, the food and service were amazing. We enjoyed it so much, when they offered the discount again for the last night we jumped at the opportunity to eat there a second time. The shows were the same as our cruise in August and we enjoyed them just as much as we did then. The only bright spot was our daily cocktails at the World Class Bar, the bartenders (Santos and Igor) were the best! Our ports were San Juan, St. Marteen and St.Kitts, all ports we have previously been to. In San Juan we took the ships Bacardi Nights which we both enjoyed. St. Marteen we just took a cab to Maho Beach where we rented an umbrella/chairs to watch the planes. ST Kitts we took the Catamaran Fan-ta-sea snorkel and Nevis beach break, we snorkel a ship wreck which was interesting, followed by time at the beach in Nevis, we had a great time and would choose this tour again. we had high hopes for this cruise but to be honest we wouldn't bother again there were lots of issues the biggest being the food the buffet was terrible i mean there was nothing worth eating the line at breakfast for eggs and omelettes was up to 20 minutes this is the worst buffet Ive been to on a ship by far we have been to better buffets at golden coral and that's the truth we bought a dining package in the end for 4 nights and did sushi on 5 for the other night so we spent $310 extra on dining and it was worth it all the specialty restaurants were very good The ship was full and everywhere was busy i mean packed out busy get a sunbed no chance i mean none 600 sunbeds for nearly 3000 guests doesn't take a genius to work out the numbers hey then there was people smoking at the bars the bartenders asked them not to but to be honest they didn't take a lot of notice we went to the nightclub on deck 14 and it was after midnight and there were parents there with there children in pushchairs and toddlers running around in what world is this OK ? would they do it at home sometimes peoples actions baffle me The staff were the only good thing Donovan at the mast bar the girls at the coffee on 5 our room attendant Jamie were all good so we tipped them all extra the waiters in the specialty restaurants All in All we had high hopes for this cruise but it wasn't to be we were in San Juan we both said that we would have paid $500 extra to get on the jewel of the seas that was docked next to us It is a shame as i am sure we are there target market but they missed the target by a mile with us so we will not be going on celebrity in the near future Read Less
