This is our 4th time in Celebrity; 3rd time on Equinox. The ship has been upgraded some from our sailing imbalance April 2018. Very disappointed in the Blu Restaurant. In the past it has been a step above regular dining, but we have not found that to be the case this time. The food has been average and the menu has nothing new from a year ago. On the other hand the Tuscan Specialty Dining is top notch. Excellent service, delicious entrees and beautiful scenery overlooking the ocean on the rear of the ship. This is our 3rd day, hopefully things will improve in the Blu. By the way, Celebrity still makes you pay for internet which is ridiculous- you can get it free at Walmart- don’t know why upscale cruising company Celebrity can’t do the same for its patrons. HoHum with Celebrity this cruise- expected better from a cruise line which promotes luxury sailings. Read Less

We've cruised many times, including Celebrity. In fact, we cruised on the sister ship ( ) and everything was fine. Where do I start. I imagine the most frustrating part of the trip was lack of internet. For folks who can truly unplug, this is not for them. For some who might need to check emails periodically, forget it. Here's an interesting story: Tried to log onto e-m the first business day. Over the weekend, I met the IT manager, and asked where the best possible place would be on the entire ship to have the best access. I should have been concerned when he was puzzled by that question. He guessed that mid-ship would be the most logical place, and by the way, my office is right over there... I first tried logging on to simple em from my room. Nope - one bar. OK, so I'll take his advise, pack up, move to mid ship. Well, 95% of the outlets were European. Found one. Waited 30 min. to download EMAIL!. Never downloaded. Went to another part of the area-found another plug. Same Result. Well, too bad you told me where your office was. Knocked on his office door, one of the IT people, who was nice, wanted to inspect what I was attempting. He was surprised at lack of signal and agreed it was lacking. He had an idea of using the ships computers. So we trekked up to the ships computer area - same result. Keep in mind we had the best possible streaming package available. There was obviously no answer, no way to get a descent signal. I actually had to go offshore to Starbucks in San Juan. Very frustrating but they still manage to sign up as many people as possible at $350 each. Seems the network was clearly overloaded. Not a good ship if you need to conduct business at any level. Now the food - I won't go on forever, but we gave up on the dining room after 2 meals. Ended up at picking though the buffet. Even gave them an honest shot and dined at a specialty restaurant - all sub standard. I'll say the crew was nice, the Cruise Director for Entertainment was the best I've ever seen in 30+ cruises. The rest of the time was all as expected. They really need to work on the food & internet access. Read Less

We are not new to cruising, but this was our first Celebrity cruise. We are sold on the brand. Despite the fact that we can't wait to sail with Celebrity again, five stars would be an indication that there is no room for improvement or growth. If I could, I would rate our overall experience 4.5. We enjoyed three aft concierge class balcony cabins on the ninth deck. The adjoining/connecting cabin feature on the Equinox is refreshing and has a cool factor. You cannot enter or exit through the interior of the rooms. Instead, there are double doors that serve as a foyer of sorts. When the double doors are closed, you are the "connecting" cabins are encased. If you leave the door to each connecting cabins propped open or unlocked, occupants can freely move between each cabin. You access the double doors with your stateroom key. Aft balconies that "connect" to a sky suite enjoy access to their cabins through a single door that open into a spacious hallway. You control your level of privacy. We also loved how swiftly our request to unlock the partisans of our balconies was honored. It was like we had one huge, extended balcony all to ourselves. We received five-star cabin and room service. Our cabin steward was marvelous and ready to accommodate. Every dining experience, whether in the main dining room, in the cafe or at specialty restaurants, was also five-star. The staff you encounter daily understand the concepts of professionalism and customer-centered service. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel like we were genuinely on vacation. Celebrity deserves an A+ in those areas. However, Celebrity ranks poorly when it came to a customs matter. Unlike previous sailings with other cruise lines, we were led to believe that we did not need to complete any customs forms or declare purchases in writing. The day before we returned to Ft. Lauderdale, my husband -- to my own pleasant surprise and initial shock -- bought our college sophomore a pair of chocolate diamond earrings. It is not the first time he has paid thousands of dollars on a cruise ship for diamonds, so questions were asked upfront. The manner in which my husband was approached as we disembarked was disturbing. (Hence, the less than five stars). A member of the Equinox staff approached my husband in a covert way and asked him to come with her --- no explanation or clue as to why. It all happened quickly and in the confusion, he ended up getting separated from our group. My husband says he expressed his concerns and received an apology for the manner that he was escorted to customs. Nevertheless, it should not have happened. Much has been written about expansive renovations that will take place among the Celebrity fleet. The Equinox was fresh off a dry dock, but it is my understanding that some areas of the ship benefited more than others. There are beautifully appointed restaurants, sitting areas and other public spots throughout the ship. I specifically asked a veteran member of the staff about the staterooms. The Equinox did not get the major "revolutionized" renovation many expected. Based on previous pictures, however, I could tell that the new beige and blue color schemes for the drapes, bedding and carpet was an improvement for the cabins, giving ours a relaxing feel. We booked about 60 days until sailing, which I consider last minute. I considered it a blessing to find three concierge class balcony staterooms next to each other. The perks -- especially the expanded room service menu -- were wonderful. I am thankful for the fast and reliable Internet service. We selected the complimentary Internet package as one of our promotional offerings. I had no issues completing some graduate course assignments by deadline. I also appreciated the ability to make reservations for any-time dining in the upstairs main dining room. The food was delicious, the service was consistently outstanding and the atmosphere was pleasing. Our servers were professional and personable, but never intrusive. Tuscan Grille allowed us to break the monotony of our evenings. Everything about Tuscan Grille fits the definition of fine dining at its best. An overview of our port experiences: I have given up on shore excursion offerings in the Caribbean. Celebrity partners with Private Journeys, which was no help. After an initial response from an agent and my follow-up question, I did not get another email until just days before sailing. The agent's email stated that a lead did not work out and she was unable to help after all. It turns out that we were a million times better off researching and planning day trips on our own. We had an amazing time at a resort in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. For $30 a person plus taxi fare for the four of us, I was able to book one of the most memorable and fun day trips of my life. A The scenic BVI, followed by St. Thomas, was the highlight of our port experiences. Magen's Beach in St. Thomas was crowded with guests from the Equinox and two other cruise ships, but we found a spot to set up beach chairs and umbrellas, which must be rented from the gift shop. We have been to Nassau, Bahamas countless times. We did not leave the ship. As for Puerto Rico, this was my second and last time giving it a chance. We went there about a week before the protests. We had no idea a political uprising was brewing, but we knew something was way off and talked about it. The atmosphere was tense. With the exception of a hostess standing outside a bar, no one seemed friendly or helpful. You know something is off when cabs are lined up along the port but you have to initiate conversations to get a ride. I observed many fellow cruisers returning to the ship after a brief venture out. We walked to Walgreens and made our way back to the ship. We did not make it to any of the shows or participate in enrichment activities. I enjoyed the solitude of the library, however. Read Less

Just finished up a week on the Celebrity Equinox- Eastern Caribbean Itinerary and it was, overall, a great experience. However, I would be less than honest if I didn't also state that the cruise fell a bit short of expectations. Following is my effort to provide an honest and fair assessment of the Equinox and our experience on her. For reference- my wife and I are 50's/60's and have sailed on Carnival, Norwegian, Princess and one previous Celebrity Cruise (Mediterranean). Wife is from Scotland, I'm American, but have lived in UK and traveled a fair bit, mostly in Europe. THE SHIP The Equinox Itself is a beautiful ship that is generally well laid out and easy to navigate. Cabins are very nice- Ours was an aft balcony which we really enjoyed. It was a pretty long walk to the elevators & stairs, but we didn't mind. For those who may have health or mobility issues, a more mid-ship location would probably be advisable. Although we generally try to use the stairs to help burn off calories, there were ample elevators and although the ship was full, the wait times were never long. The ship was well maintained and clean, and there were plenty of hand sanitizer stations throughout the ship which we appreciated. THE CREW/STAFF & ENTERTAINMENT We found the crew to be very friendly and helpful. Bartenders were often busy, but worked hard to accommodate everyone. The Celebrity Song & Dance crew were quite good and we enjoyed their presentations, particularly 'Topper'. The House Band was excellent and the other entertainers did a good job, as well. We also felt Maartin (Cruise Director) did an outstanding job. Overall, I'd rate the entertainment at an 8 out of 10. FOOD This is one of the areas where we felt Celebrity has 'fallen off' a bit. While the Silhouette Main Dining was Good, it wasn't Great. The service was excellent, but Celebrity has clearly elected to decrease it's food costs somewhat as compared to our last cruise with them. In fairness to the company and as a restaurant owner, I can understand the huge challenges they must face when attempting to feed so many people with varying tastes and still maintain profitability. However, I really hate the fact that Celebrity, as well as most of the other cruise lines have elected to push the extra-cost specialty restaurants so heavily. It's quite obvious they are using a lower grade of beef and seafood in the main dining room and only serving 'Prime' or upper-level 'Choice' in the specialty venues. That would be easier to accept if the cost of dining in the specialty venues didn't run $50+ per person per meal. I just believe that is a bit excessive for most cruisers. The Oceanview Buffet food was very good and equalled or exceeded that of buffets on our past cruises with a myriad of choices MOST of the time. Unfortunately, this venue was more or less shut down during the afternoons and after around 9 to 9:30 in the evening; offering only pasta and pizza at those times. Late-night dining options were very limited, although free room service was available until midnight. Apparently, the 'Midnight Buffets' are a thing of the past? Burgers, fries, hot dogs, etc were available at the Mast Grill, but I'm not sure on the hours of operation. We chose not to eat at any of the specialty restaurants, but heard generally positive things about them. PORTS of CALL This was really our biggest disappointment with the Equinox's Eastern Caribbean itinerary- Not so much the Ports-of-Call themselves, but more the timing. The stops (in order) are San Juan, St Thomas (USVI), Tortola (BVI) & Nassau. We elected to take this cruise primarily because we wanted to see San Juan and Tortola. Unfortunately, these were the two ports in which we had the least time (basically, only a half-day). I've been to St Thomas a few times and am not a big fan (although it does offer one of the best beaches in the Caribbean). Given its close proximity to San Juan & Tortola, I would much prefer to have concentrated more on those ports. MISC As is the case with every cruise I've been on, Celebrity 'pushes' those activities which provide them with extra profit- Art auctions, shore excursions, shopping in certain stores, etc. To their credit, their promotion of these things is not in the least obtrusive (as it sometimes is on Norwegian and Princess). My only complaint here is with their "Shopping Programs". The 'Shopping Guide (Michael) and probably the cruise line itself obviously has some sort of 'arrangement' with certain stores in each of the ports. It's fine that they offer recommendations for shops that sell 'genuine' & legitimate merchandise; however, these 'shows' are a bit misleading in that the great deals they go on & on about are not really that great. I priced some rather expensive watches that were supposedly 'Duty and Tax Free' making them a great bargain, only to discover I can buy them just as cheaply back home. But, my real complaint here is that maps they give you of each port, show ONLY the shops they are promoting. FINALLY I will definitely sail with Celebrity again. In spite of the areas above where I have outlined a few issues, I still believe they are one of the best, if not 'the best' of the mid/upper-level cruise lines. I've read some pretty negative stuff another reviews and have a hard time believing these people were being objective. For example, one reviewer of a March, 2019 cruise made the comment that the smoking areas around all of the bars bothered he and his wife. Hogwash! There ARE NOT smoking areas around all of the bars. Equinox has 4 designated smoking areas, 2 of which are locate on the starboard-side of bars- One completely aft and the other on the top deck forward. All one has to do at either of these, is sit on the port side where it's smoke free. None of the other bars allow smoking. Another cruiser complained about embarkation, I honestly do not see how it could have gone any smoother. I thought Celebrity did an outstanding job of getting everyone on and off the ship smoothly. Our Ideal Vacation: I think the first thing that I think everyone should state is what they're looking for in their cruise vacation. We were a group of four girls in our late 30's to early 50's who wanted to get away for a week's worth of extreme relaxing, reading, staring at the water, eating good food and just not having to do everything for ourselves for a week. We're not foodies, we're not super into all activities and we definitely did not want to feel busy. Three of us are seasoned cruisers, one was on her first cruise. So that established, the Equinox did NOT disappoint any of us in any way. Celebrity's Target Audience: Few notes on Celebrity if you're not familiar with the cruising world. They cater mostly to the 30-50 crowd who are not extreme partiers but enjoy great service, food and the ability to take in a wide range of activities from cooking classes and line dancing to evening Great Gatsby parties. There isn't an overabundance of kids on board but enough. I can't speak to the kids activities. You won't find raucous, loud partiers often which was just fine with us. Embarkation: The cruise embarked from Ft. Lauderdale Terminal 25 - which was newly built for the edge. Provided you have done your advance check-in as they advise you to do and have your credit card on file and all of the information provided - the check-in was smooth and we were on the boat by 11:30am (we arrived around 11am). Proceed right to your stateroom and pick up your key cards for your room right away and drop off your carry on. The rooms will all be ready by about 1pm. The Stateroom: We booked this cruise last year in order to get a room to accommodate 4 people with a larger balcony - in our case this was stateroom 9237 which is Concierge Class and in a perfect location just steps away from the main atrium elevators with a large balcony (must've been 13-15 feet deep and about 7 feet wide - it would fit two loungers and two chairs without issue - we had one lounger, 2 chairs and a table). The room was comfortable and had enough storage for the 4 of us to unpack. Unfortunately the Equinox revolutionizing was shortened due to a crane accident in Nassau that diverted them to dry dock in Spain, but the carpets, bedding and drapes are new, as is the TV (not that we turned it on the entire vacation, but looks lovely!). Our cabin steward was lovely and helpful. A young woman whose parents are taking care of her children back home as she works very hard to provide for them. She won't see them again until January. Having been part of many FB groups where the "is Concierge Class worth it?" debate constantly arises - to that I state that its less about being Concierge Class and any perks and more about what you want in your stateroom. We wanted a larger balcony - this just happened to be found in CC. We weren't interested in any of the other perks really. The Food: Having cruised for the past 5 cruises on NCL, I'd forgotten just how good the Celebrity food is. I'm not talking from the point of a foodie who wants fancy dishes I can't recognize. I was looking for variety, good taste and freshness - as were the other girls I was travelling with. We abundantly looked forward to every meal and did not encounter anything we didn't find tasty and fresh. We did not try any of the specialty restaurants since we were abundantly happy with what was provided in all of the complimentary dining venues. The Entertainment/Activities: Maarten/Martin (spelling?) our cruise director was funny and approachable. We didn't take in a whole lot of activities other than some trivia games. We mostly would go to the shows in the Equinox Theatre. The comedian the first night was quite funny, unfortunately the other shows involving the singers/dancers weren't as high quality as we've seen on other lines. Our main complaint being that certain singers were very pitchy and not really singing in a good vocal range for them. It made it a bit hard on the ears at times. The Crew: This is where the Equinox shines above and beyond. So rarely have I seen a crew that genuinely seems so cohesive as a group and happy to be interacting with guests. We had Celebrity Select dining (aka anytime dining), but they sit you in the same section each night. Our waiter and assistant waiter Rhys and Raul really made the week's suppers specials. They were absolutely lovely and we ended the week with a group photo as well as a group hug. Raul was excited to send a picture to his wife and kids back home to show them his "Queens" that week. I'm always very cognizant that many of the crew have families who they are far away from for a very long time. We were fortunate to have Captain Kate for most of the cruise (except the first couple days). She will be moving to the Edge in mid-August. She's regularly found around the ship and clearly enjoys her crew very much and they in return love her. As four women travelling together it was lovely to see a strong woman at the helm of the ship and as cat lovers - we thoroughly enjoyed that her cat lives with her on the ship. Check out Bug Naked on Instagram - makes me laugh. Disembarkation: This was perhaps the most smooth disembarkation I've ever experienced. We chose to leave our luggage out the night before and take a bus transfer arranged by Celebrity to the airport in Ft. Lauderdale. We disembarked at 8:20am and were at the airport just a little after 9:00am. Summary: Phenomenal. We loved every minute of it and would go again in an instant. We unplugged from the world for the week with no internet or cell service, we laughed, we read, we enjoyed eachother's company and the beautiful relaxing setting where our biggest concern was what of 10 entrees to eat and where to go read or nap. We definitely overheard many conversations from people who seemed determined to just complain about anything - from one gentleman who said that cake was atrocious and he had better recipes (I'm not sure which cake - I encountered at least 20 types during the week and thought them tasty), to the woman who bickered on about not being able to wear beachwear into the main dining room, to other really trivial complaints. We are already planning our next Celebrity Cruise and the Equinox is high on our list of ships we want to sail again. Read Less

Disclaimer: This review is shaded a happy hue due to this vacation being an opportunity to celebrate our son's recent graduation from college. If you don't want to read the entire review I will begin with the summary. We had a very good time during our seven day cruise. This partially refurbished ship is still the Celebrity Equinox, the staff remain as friendly and hard working as ever, there are fun and interesting passengers to meet, and there are places throughout the Caribbean that are as beautiful as any place on Earth. We left for South Florida on Friday, on a plane that took off just minutes after the 2019 Summer Solstice occurred. We overnighted at the Comfort Suites, which is convenient to both the airport and Port Everglades. Embarkation was easy, and would have been easier if we hadn't missed the sign for priority check-in. Even with the extra few steps and the extra few minutes of time, we quickly boarded the Equinox and made our way to the recently re-imaged Retreat Lounge. Fortunately, Cruise Critic reviewers had provided pictures and observations regarding the makeover of this space. Sadly, we too found the decor and ambiance to be that of an nice, well maintained airport lounge. While this is utilitarian and attractive for a public space that is transient by definition, we found it uninviting, except for the bar which allowed interaction with the bartender. Gone too are the desks and chairs for the concierges, apparently guests think that having chairs in which to sit conveys an invitation to talk with the concierges, which has been viewed from the corporate level as an inefficient use of everyone's time. The kindergarten-sized chairs are actually laughable. Although there were children in the suite class, we didn't get to see them use the little furniture. I do not have any photos or videos of the rueful looks that passed across senior officers faces when we offered our first impressions feedback, nor did we bother taking photos of this typically empty area. For a contrast, one could see passengers using the Library, the Gaming area, the Atrium, and the Sky Lounge throughout the day, just like they have on every previous cruise we have been on while aboard an S class Celebrity ship. These areas are occupied, they are used for intended purposes and unintended purposes (napping), and help to make S Class ships attractive cruising options. Other than people leaving their glasses, cups, plates, usually with uneaten food on any flat surfaces throughout the ship, the public spaces were clean and well maintained. The new bedding is firm, which I liked, and we took advantage of the pillow menu. The veranda furniture was replaced during the cruise, which meant we lost the solid wood-and-metal table, and the wicker-style lounger. They were replaced with lightweight, and cheap feeling patio furniture that one might find at a Target Department store. The two high-back chairs do recline and came with separate extensions that work as ottomans. We dined primarily in Luminae, and the Maitre 'd Tanya and her assistant Victoria worked hard to insure a memorable dining experience. Once again, the restaurant staff were excellent. The food was good to excellent throughout, with the only complaint being we have become overly familiar with the menus. We also dined in Tuscan, Murano, and Sushi on Five. In each restaurant the service was very good; preparation very good, timely, and as ordered; and overall the dining experiences enhanced our cruise. The onboard entertainment was hit-and-miss. The bands Nu Image and Dancing Town were good, and the Drift duo were adequate. Other than the talented Jesse Hamilton Jr., the evening entertainment was less interesting to us than during any other Celebrity Cruise. Our young adult son went the The Gatsby Party that was apparently well attended and enjoyed by guests. The one excursion we took through Celebrity was the Discovery Dive which was done by Underwater Adventures was safe and educational. The scuba equipment was well maintained. Visibility at the dive sight was good, and although the coral appears degraded, the other undersea life was interesting and pretty. The free dive excursion was also conducted from the same boat, and the experienced divers all expressed satisfaction with the outing. We recommend Underwater Adventures. Disembarkation was quick and easy, and in this case the facial recognition system was functioning. Read Less

My husband and I took this cruise for our honeymoon, and we loved it. We had such a great time that we have another cruise booked for 2020 and are bringing my mother in law and sister in law along with us. By far the best vacation we have had! The food was amazing, even in the buffet. We loved getting room service included in our price and not costing any extra. Loved that the captain and officers were always visible throughout the ship. We choose not to do any shore excursions and still had a great time exploring the islands on our own. Loved the spa! I got a pedicure and my husband got a haircut and both were amazing, better than what we usually would get at home! The ship was very clean and you can tell the staff really care about the ship. I would highly recommend this ship and company to anyone looking to cruise. Read Less

We sailed on the Celebrity Equinox for the first time and after sailing on other cruise lines (i.e. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, NCl and Disney) Celebrity was at the top of our list. I have been on 18 cruises and the only cruise line I would sail on besides Celebrity would be Disney. We loved the first class touches and treatment we received from Celebrity, no flashy gimmicks (slides and attractions), just a nice relaxing cruise atmosphere and nice people. We met Captain Kate who was very nice and psed with pictures throughout the cruise. We sat around and talked to her for awhile as she is from Las Vegas and so we are we. It was kind of neat. She also said good bye to us as we leaving the ship. Very personable. My husband is a school teacher and we wanted to find a cruise without the comotion of having a lot of kids running around and being shuttled like a herd of cattle (Carnival). Don;t get me wrong, we have 2 kids and 3 grandkids and love them to death, but it is nice to have a relaxing vacation without the "craziness". There were kids on board and honestly, they were so well behaved, even in the pools with the adults. There was not problem. Embarkation was a breeze, the beast ever. Only waited 15 minutes to board and once on board, we proceeded to our cain, dropped off our carry on's and left to explore the beautiful ship. The only disappointment was that the whole ship was not renovated as expected due to time constraints (carpets did not match in the hallways and stairs), but it was still very nice. Our room steward Pima was great, got us some pillows off of the pillow menu and they were so nice to sleep on. Our cabin and balcony were spacious, did not hear our neighbors at all. Food on the ship was great, we ate at all 3 speciality restaurants. My husband's favorite was Murano and mine was La Petit. Tuscany had the views, but the food was not as good as I would have expected. The main dining room, however was a little disappointing. We had Anytime dining and the 3 nights we ate in there we were crammed together and no privacy. Service was not so great, perhaps because they were so busy upstairs versus set time dining. One night they sat us next to a window, in the corner next to the bussers station and the office, so all we saw and heard was the clanking of dishes and the inside of the office each time they opened the doors. They need to do away with this table. Drinks were great. A BIG shout out to Miguel in the World Class Bar. He helped us when we got on board with our drink package (our travel agent screwed up at booking) and then we enrolled in the Mixology Class with him and Santos. We had the best excursion ever and it wasn't on any port. Miguel really took care of us throughout the cruise. He is the reason we will be back, whether it is on the Equinox or another ship. As for the Excursions, they were awful, not fault of Celebrity, it was just big mis-representations of the tour operators in what they say and what they actually do or have. In San Juan we took the Nights at Bacardi which was nice, but not what we expected. However the snorkel excursion in St. Thomas at Buck Island (Turtle Bay Sail & Snorkel Adventure) was absolutely horrible. They put you on a pirate ship that is worn and broken down (my husband got rust stains on his t-shirt from sitting against the side), the crew was gross and dirty looking and the boat was not conducive for snorkeling. The snorkel gear was not sanitized for those who needed it, there was not enough snorkeling gear for everyone and you either had to jump off a "plank" (as in a pirate movie) to get in or climb down stairs on the side of the boat which the ladder did not hook on very good. One lady who had knee surgery used the stairs to get in the water and did o.k., but coming up back into the boat, it took her 20 minutes to climb the stairs. This excursion should have used a catamaran (like others in the area) with walk up stairs. Entertainment was a hit or miss, just like other cruise lines. The comedian was great both nights, the production shows were just o.k. Casino was nice, clean and fun. We only gambled 1 night, as we are from Las Vegas and it was no big deal. Shopping was good, the "pop up" stores were fun and we found some great deals. Wish there was a more selection of souvenirs from the ship though. Debarking was a breeze, never had any issues we were off within 5 minutes. We loved this cruise so much, we booked a 10 day Mediterranean cruise on the Edge for next July for our 25th Anniversary with the Future Cruise desk while on board. Read Less

I WAS a loyal Celebrity cruiser until..... I have taken my last cruise on Celebrity Cruise Line. I had three cruises scheduled for 2019. I have completed two of them and canceled the third. Celebrity Cruise Line has gradually deteriorated to the point that I am no longer willing to go on a cruise that I scheduled for November of this year. My first cruise this year on the Equinox was the second time that I have been on this ship. I was on it shortly after dry dock. I had a page and a half of problems that I went to the customer service desk with including 4 days of the toilet not flushing. After presenting my list of problems to the manager at customer service, I was issued a $150 credit for a future cruise. While on board for cruise number 2 this year, I attemped to apply the credit to the future cruise in November. Apparently, the staff in future cruises did not do what they were supposed to with it. After receiving a copy of the November billing, we contacted the customer service department which were so rude and unprofessional that we ended up having to cancel November's cruise because they were unwilling to apply the credit that we were given for our unbelievably crappy cruise number one this year. The problems included toilets not flushing, internet service not working, TV's not working, a room Steward rearranging things daily that he had no business to be touching, rude and argumentative wait staff, rude shore excursion people, bartenders that were unwilling to change the channel to put on sports in the casino bar instead of news, comedians that were so bad that people were walking out in drothes, items on their daily itinerary never happening, inedible food, plastic items found in the food...... unfortunately the list just goes on and on. After calling customer service to have the credit applied correctly, they were so rude and uncooperative that we canceled a cruise that would have cost $3500 over a $150 cruise credit that they lost. The customer service rep reminded me of a used car salesman trying to do the money shuffle explaining that the credit had already been given when it clearly in writing had not. If they cannot provide it to you in writing, it never happened. Don't trust them. Celebrity Cruise Line has obviously given up caring about their existing customers. I wish I had waited to do my survey until after I discovered this problem. I had spent enough time on this ship that the management and staff were all greeting me saying "welcome home." It is now a sad goodbye but for the price it is a goodbye nonetheless. No one should be treated the way we were by customer service, and the future cruise services staff. Well just returned from a 7 day on the Celebrity Equinox. Let’s talk about the positive notes first. Nice ship. Excellent crew, unbelievable Captain. She was at all the major functions and saying bye to everyone when we all left. The very first captain I ever saw at all the shows and around the ship greeting everyone. Our OV cabin was better than the one we had on the Reflection. This time the bed was next to the window. Giving plenty of room at the closet. 5 dresser drawers verses 3. Bed was comfortable. Most of the food was very good. Excellent waiters. Bar tenders were fast and very friendly. Received offers of 30% off of specialty dining twice during the cruise. The Café al Bacio had excellent pastries and excellent coffee. The manager, Nelson Gonzales could not do enough for everyone. Such a super person. All Theater shows were very good. Even the ones we did not care for. Comedians were boring, old jokes. The young 28 year old cruise director Maarten was awesome. A perfect job for him. He was born to be a Cruise Director. Now for the not so great. Only a few that really were nothing to get upset about at all. The first day they might have had a problem with the A/C. It was hot all over the ship. My wife could not get the wine she liked without buying the bottle. Same on the Reflection. The buffet had only two problems. The mashed potatoes were never hot, the meat balls in sauce were actually cold. Otherwise, excellent variety and taste. Let’s talk steak. Usually we only eat the steak once. This time we ended up having it three times. First the Tuscan Grill. We had the Filet. It was very good, however not excellent as I would have thought. MDR we had NY Strip steak. Very good not excellent but served on a super hot plate. No hot plate in the Tuscan grill where it should have been. Now for a total surprise. The last day in the buffet for dinner they had NY Strip or Ribeye, your choice done on a flame grill. The steak was cooked perfect, excellent taste, very tender. A few to many times for tomato soup. They had a party called ”Party Like Gatsby” To give you an idea how loud the DJ music was. They had to close the fire doors to the halls with the state rooms. It was in the Atrium deck 3 and also loud you could barely hear one another when you screamed to talk. It was loud on deck 14. Only one Slot Tournament. For some reason, the ship was always crowded. Unlike the Reflection. Shows and other gatherings were timed over the top of one another. Too many things started at the same time. Last of all. I guess clothes that are too small for a person is the new style or something. Plus no socks with dress shoes even patent leather shoes and a tux that is several sizes two small. The cruise director being 6 ft 5” his pants were always about 4 inches above his shoes and no socks, his long sleeve shirt was above his watch and the suit jacket was very tight on him and the sleeves were about 3 inches above the shirt sleeve. The bottom of the jacket was way too high. It was as if he was just wearing a lot smaller size than he should. This was not just once. But every day. It really looked bad. One day he even rolled up the pants to be short. He was not the only employee that wore no socks with dress shoes and high water pants. So like I said. Must be a new fad. I hope not. Wow, can't say enough about this trip. I've cruised with NCL, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney and Princess prior to this trip and this was by far the best cruise experience I've had. Embarkation took roughly 15 mins after arriving at pier and most of that time was walking to get on board. The ship was clean, easy to navigate and offered every type of shopping, eating, entertaining you can ask for. I've been on the big ships (Allure, Oasis) and the really old small ships (Mardi Gra, Oceanic) and this was just a great ship overall. I love the top deck with the natural grass, glass blowing , and movie screen. The bars were also great, from Craft Social to World Class and everything in between. The main dining and buffet experience we're top notch. I also tried Murano and La Petite chef. Murano was in my opinion equal to the main dining room so I could skip it. I did enjoy the show and experience at La Petite and the food was awesome. Cabin was clean and great for me, my wife and my 13 year old daughter. I loved the ship design and didn't miss the huge spaces on Oasis/Allure. My daughter never missed water slides or rock climbing walls. She actually loved the teen club and made friends and ran off their every night. SMOKE FREE Casino is epic! The captain was the most personable and everywhere at once. She was even at the gang plank on last day at 7am saying goodbye to folks. Cruise Director Maarten was funny and highly entertaining. Wife and I try to do two cruises a year. This cruise was our 2nd of the year, and our 2nd on the Equinox. We have been on this ship 3 times in the last 18 months, so we feel like we know every nook & cranny at this point. We usually sail with family, but this time it was just us celebrating our anniversary. WHY CELEBRITY? If you are reading this review, I am going to assume that you are curious about booking a Celebrity cruise. I can tell you that most of the positive things you hear from one person you will hear from many, and any complaints tend to be one-time issues that are rarely repeated. Celebrity is a sister-line of Royal Caribbean. With that being said, its nearly a complete opposite experience from Royal. The clientele is older, there are less children, smaller ships, higher staff to guest ratio, and better food/service by far. The "nightlife" and entertainment fall short of Royal Caribbean, but we knew that coming in to it. The average person on a celebrity cruise is an older couple aged 45-65 years old. With that being said, my wife and I are 26 & 30 respectively. We sail in March & June, so we do tend to see many younger couples like us who are looking for the same kind of cruise. My wife and I are not party-goers, we enjoy relaxing by the pool or sunset bar, eating wonderful food, and impeccable service. Celebrity gives us everything that a super-luxury line gives us for the same price as Carnival/Norwegian/Royal Caribbean. Our favorite part is that we can sail basically "all-inclusive". We get drinks, gratuities, OBC, & wifi all included in our booking package. I cant stand being nickel'd & dime'd on a cruise. My wife and I got off the boat owing $18 to the cruise line and we did absolutely everything we wanted to do. In fact, we at in specialty dining every night of the cruise. Its something that we will probably do from now on. THE SHIP The Equinox has become our home away from home. Its large enough to feel spacious and offer many different activities, but small enough that you dont really need a map after the 2nd day on board. The ship was recently refurbished and it felt fresh and stunning. THE DINING Let me get this out of the way... We had an issue with service in the MDR on our previous cruise in March. I am 100% convinced that it was an issue that was fixed and handled. But, we did have a lot of OBC and we love specialty dining, so we booked 7 nights at the stunning Murano. I cannot put into words how much we enjoyed this, so I wont try. But it is worth every penny and we will be doing this from now on. BARS AND LOUNGES We spent a ton of time in our two favorite places on the ship. The Sunset Bar and Ensemble Lounge. The Sunset bar is amazing at any time of the day. Its on the sundeck and at the very back of the ship. (Its also a smoking area, though we dont smoke). The Ensemble lounge is a wonderful place to hangout before dinner. We would get ready for dinner, and go sit down and have a drink & listen to live music while we waited for dinner. You have to walk through it to get to any of the specialty restaurants, so it was a no brainer for us. EMBARKATION & DISEMBARKATION It literally could not have been any easier and well organized. Its a non-issue with Celebrity. ENTERTAINMENT We have seen the major performances on past cruises, so we didnt choose to see them again. We did go see the two comedians and the live music. One of the comedians was fantastic, one was a train-wreck. It wasnt his fault, his material just wasnt current and it seemed better fitted for a 1960s supper club. CONCLUSION We love Celebrity, the Equinox, Captain Kate, and the Eastern Caribbean. We could not have asked for a better cruise. Read Less

I chose celebrity because it had more of an adult theme than some of the others. It was perfect! From the moment my husband and I embarked, which went smoothly, we were blown away by the excellent service. The food was the best I have ever had, the ship was spotless, the shows were very good, and our aft room(1674)was very comfortable. I noticed our balcony was a little longer than most others. We had concierge class which was kind of nice. We didn’t eat in any specialty restaurants but dined in MDR for dinner and ate in buffet for lunch. The MDR was definitely like eating in a 5 star restaurant every night. Excellent service and food. We used the celebrity app to view menu ahead of time. The food in the buffet was also delicious! Try their pizza! We purchased premium non-alcoholics package and enjoyed the most delicious virgin pina coladas all week in addition to Perrier, Pellegrino, and coke. We also loved going to Bacios after dinner for lattes and espressos, which was included in our drink package. The pastries and desserts were great there, too. The ship wasn’t as crowded as the carnival cruises I have been on. I always found comfortable seating when I wanted it. Sea days were busy by the pool but not unbearable. The solarium was much quieter and cooler. No kids allowed in solarium which was nice. There were some whiny old people who complained about silly things, like wanting guacamole on the bottom of a poached egg instead of the top, or getting served 2 pieces of toast instead of one. But overall, everyone was very nice. Lots of countries represented amongst staff and guests. There were not as many onboard activities on this cruise as on the carnivals I have been on. The silent disco was really fun and the live music was great. Evening shows were really good. No ice sculptures by the pool, and exercise classes, like Zumba, required a fee, but this cruise was very relaxing, fun, and I felt pampered the whole week. Captain Kate and cruise director Maartin were very visible and made the trip even more fun. One complaint - people hold chairs with towels so on sea days all poole chairs saved by 730 am EVEN though that is not supposed be allowed. People put a towel/stuff and don’t come back for hours . This is really infuriating and I wish Celebrity would at least try to help/prevent. Excursion 1 - San Juan - walking food and culture tour - it was amazing- small group and actually joined by Michelle Bernstein. Perfect excursion! Excursion 2 - bus tour St Thomas with 2 hours at beach, 2 hours shopping, and ride to top. NEVER AGAIN Unfriendly, rude, not safe, too long -ugh Excursion 3 - escape to Tortola PERFECT. This was early 730 am but that meant crowd low we got there before crowds. We sat at Hendo hideout because as long as you eat/drink there chairs and umbrellas free. We liked this less crowded area more than Celebrity area provided. No excursions at Nassau - barely off ship for an hour - not clean or friendly - maybe good excursions available that we missed ?? After not cruising for 7 years, I went on a cruise for the first time on NCL to try out a different cruise line. Last year, I thought NCL was terrible but after experiencing Celebrity Equinox it's really put that cruise line into perspective. Just to give some clarification, I've been on two Celebrity Cruises but it's been over ten years since I've cruised with them. Our family was a loyal RC cruising family until we decided to branch out. So without further ado, let's jump into the review: Positives: • Honestly, what made my cruise enjoyable was the dining staff I had in the main dining room. Our waiter was Reynaldo. M. and Carlos at table 166. Those two were fantastic waiters and were on top of everything. They were friendly and it was nice to form a bond with them. Reynaldo always made sure we were pleased and happy with everything from food to service. Carlos was overly friendly and accommodating to our table and was a laugh and joy to have. We will miss them dearly. We had no issues in the MDR. The food was excellent on board. I always looked forward to eating in the MDR. I actually prefer Celebrities' chefs more so than the Moveable Feast chefs that came and prepared dishes that night. I found on the Moveable Feast night I greatly disliked the appetizers and main meals created by those two chefs. The only redeeming quality was the desert. If you do the MF again, get better chefs. • I had no issues ever finding a seat on the pool deck to tan or sunbath. This is usually a common problem with cruises, but I did not have this issue. The pools were well kept and not crowded and were set at nice temperatures. • I really enjoyed having Capt. Kate as our captain. I've been on at least 20+ cruises and I've never had a memorable cruise captain, but I can honestly say Kate is a memorable and fun one to have. I enjoyed listening to her morning riddles and hearing her sense of humor. There was something so humble about that and humanizing. Loved it. • Our room steward was fantastic. He was super lovely and very consistent. He always had our room cleaned quickly and efficiently. I could see he worked super hard and wanted to make sure we were taking care of. Negatives: Bars/Bartenders: • I spent a lot of time in Sky 14 and I'm sorry, but the bartenders up there have to be some of the rudest people I have ever met. Day 1, for sail away, I went up there to get a drink. There were only two people at the bar, one who already had a drink, and another gentleman who was waiting to get served. There were two bartenders cleaning/stocking the bar and ignored both of us for eight minutes. Eventually, they acknowledged us after that time but seemed bothered by the fact that we wanted to order a drink. Then another bartender from the pool deck came down and got my drinks made. What made it worse though is that then he berated me about why I wouldn't want to get the drink package. I don't drink that much, in fact, I only had one drink the entire cruise, so why would I want to spend $50 a day only to drink once?? Basically, I found that most of the bartenders were rude anyway. They tended to look over your head and act like they didn't see you, which only further turned me off from utilizing them. I also hated that they were desperately trying to shove the drink package down our throats. If we didn't want it, we didn't want it! Activities on board: • There were not enough activities to keep people entertained on board. I would have loved to see more game show type of games on board. The last sea day was the most boring day I have ever experienced on a cruise. We had one trivia game at 10:15 AM and then a huge gap where nothing but seminars or paying ($$$) activities were available until 3:15 PM. I found that absurd because on NCL I was never bored with the entertainment. They always mixed up the activities or game show ideas, but on this cruise I found myself being bored many times. Why are there so many activities where you need to pay additional money or listen to people talk? We're already paying a lot as it is. (Most of the seminars are to get you to spend more money, like on wellness products) Speaking of activities...I found the entertainment group to appear to look like they don't enjoy their jobs very much. They always looked super melancholy and would rush through the activities they did happen to provide as if they had better things to do. They'd speed through the trivia questions or show up late, etc. Darren and Charlotte were my favorites out of the group, but as a whole, they didn't look like they worked as a team. Also, the locations where they'd hold the activities were not suitable. I still don't understand why they'd host the interactive game shows on Deck 4 in that small entertainment court. It got too congested and there weren't any seats. Room Temperature: • I really enjoyed the layout and location of our room. We were located in room 8277 and it was right near the elevators. It was lovely and cool during the day but at night it felt like a sauna in there. Every night on board, my mother and I would wake up around 3 AM- 4 AM sweating like pigs. We did not have the duvets draped over us, just the mere thin sheet. It was terrible and we complained to guest relations and our steward and they said nothing could be done. Needless to say, I did not get the best sleep on board. Another thing that was kind of annoying was the fact that the walls were paper thin. I could hear conversations from either side of my room. I would hear when people sneezed, coughed, or snored. Internet: • Internet was pretty spotty most of the cruise. It wasn't great and would disconnect often. Medical/Infirmary: • So one thing I was not planning was getting some sort of allergic reaction while visiting a beach. It happened the 4th day in and I was covered in an itchy, blotchy, red rash on my arms. I went to the infirmary to see if there was anything they could to alleviate it. I was greeted by one of the nurses or doctor, but I'm not sure since she didn't even introduce herself. She said, "What do you need?" I said, "I have a rash I got from the beach and--" "--What do you want me to do?" she cut off abruptly. I couldn't believe how short she was with me. She didn't even bother to look at my arms and proceeded to say. "Take some Benedryl." "Um, I don't have any. I came here to see if I could get some." "You want me to sell you some??" That was the type of service I received... Basically, there were some aspects I loved and some I just really did not care for. I will say this though, this does not make me want to run out and book another Celebrity cruise line. I will probably return to Royal Carribean next time. Read Less

We were looking forward to this cruise being we had cruised Celebrity 12 times before and were always satisfied with our cruise. This time was a real let-down. We had an Aqua class room and ate at Blu restaurant. The quality of food was not good. We sent back a number of dishes. The staple salad (Caesar) came to the table limpe. As if it was laying out for some time. The strip steak was uneatable! One morning the bacon was so greasy and dry that it stuck together and was unable to cut. The service in this restaurant was also not up to par. Recommended to us one night what to order and then came back after we took her suggestion, and told us they didn't have it. Took a creamer off a table next to us that they were cleaning and placed it on our table. I could go on and on. Our room was always kept immaculate!. Our steward name was Francisco. Excellent job all week. Didn't do much activity on port days being we were there before. We had cruised 29 cruises and always returned to Celebrity. Sorry to say, we don't think we will again. We missed the quality of entertainment that Royal provides. We loved the coffee shop and desserts there. The ice martini bar was a lot of fun. We missed the pizza centrally locates on Royal and ice cream at the pools. This was listed as a luxury cruise but I did not see much difference than Royal. Embarkation was very easy and liked the welcome champagne. We were able to access our room very quickly. The buffet was average but felt like ants on an anthill. There needed to be more entertainment and more shops onboard. The prices for the spa were higher than on Royal and the time was less. The ship was refurbished but was not finished in time for our sailing. The new areas are very nice. Read Less

We had such a relaxing, wonderful cruise. Everyone was so great from check in to departure. The food, and staff in Blu, and at specialty dining(Murano and Tuscan Grille) were amazing. We loved our bartenders! Thank you Jede Astawa, Jose and Pedro. Hope to see you next time! We loved the gym, Persian gardens and sauna. The solarium is beautiful as well. We spent quite a few days at the pool. The sunset bar was great too. The staff at celebrity did everything to make the cruise so special. We celebrated our 34th anniversary. There was champagne waiting in our room. Every afternoon there was a delicious surprise waiting for us from cheeses and fruit to shrimp or different meats. The guest entertainers were wonderful. Ashlie Amber was sensational. The comics were very funny. We love to dance and there were so many opportunities to do just that.(especially “silent disco”) the pool party was fun and the dancers from the show did a little something to entertain. As for the Specialty restaurants, quality seemed a bit lower than prior year. I will admit that the Chateaubriand for 2 was horrible, we left 90% on the plate . When asked how was your dinner wh honestly told the waiter of the quality . Now , It was resolved as we were invited back for a " we are sorry dinner" Steak Dianne was prepaired at our table .. This is what you call service and respect for customers. We are committed Celebrity cruisers , and have always liked the service. We appreciate that food prices have gone up and the cruise line has and is trying to balance quality with price.The cruise line shoud I hope take into consideration the the food consummed in the specialty dining rooms gives a credit to the general food costs in teh main dining room and buffet. Don't be cheap. We will be giviing the Specialty Restaurants another try on our next cruise in September 2019, on the Infinity. Cabin was always clean. Was it because of the ship's age, or some other problem but the water for the shower, too hot and no adjustment worked, and toilet flush did not operate one or twice during the cruise ( both were quickly attended to. ) This is what you call service . Just returned from Stomptime’s first ever Ragtime/blues/jazz cruise. (Caribbean Miami to Miami). This was a fantastic cruise with quality talent. The musical lead was Brian Holland. Included were Stephanie Trick, Paolo Alderighi, Sonny Leyland, Jeff Barnhart, Fredrick Hodges (all piano), horns by Baker, Caparone, bass by Pikal and Rocha, drums by Danny Coots and others. Annie Sellick provided female vocals. There were two to four hours of music each evening as well as daytime sea day q&a sessions with the performers. At least one cocktail reception for all. Music was performed in sea lounge as private party. Celebrity provided great support and the sound techs were great. A wonderful experience. The music was a mix of ragtime/early jazz, blues and traditional jazz. The folks are planning to do one again, this time in Alaska on the Millenium. (Tentatively June 2020). Just finished the cruise. Let me start with the positives. Embarkation in Miami was super smooth, Despite Equinox's age, our cabin was well maintained, spotlessly clean, bed and linens very comfortable, and cabin attendant was amazing. Specialty restaurants were excellent, (well, Murano was superb, Silk Harvest was very good, Tuscan Grill was just okay. Oceanview buffet offerings were fresh, well presented, and perfectly fine for buffet food. Service in the main dining room was accommodating and refined. Now the rest... We cruised on Solstice in 2016 and it was everything we had heard Celebrity to be. Not here on Equinox. Here's why: - Bar staff in most locations were full of attitude, indifference, and generally behaved as if they were working in an elite Manhattan club where they are doing you a huge favor every time they serve you. Neither my party, or the others we were hanging out with were inebriated or behaving badly. The playful displays in Martini Bar are great, but the act of providing service is beyond them. I witnessed a passenger ask at the coffee bar whether any of the desserts had peanut butter. Rather than answer the question (or go look himself) he replied, "Go look at them. They are all marked." Passenger understandably didn't want to leave the front of the line to go 15 feet back, so she just left without any treats. Female bartender in Quasar several nights would completely avoid eye contact with patrons in order to not serve them. She would stare out over everyone's head as if she were looking something far away and ignore patrons trying to place an order. - Celebrity wants to tout itself as a wine-focused cruise line, with special tasting events (for fee.) Meanwhile, we had the premium beverage package. Most bars were sold out of all premium options. Gastropub had a menu with about 6 red wines by the glass. They only had 2 of them. Same with the white wines. I brought 2 nice bottles of Burgundy (around $65 retail) to enjoy on-ship. Ended up bringing them to the restaurant because they had nothing decent to pour. (Out of this, out of that. Every time I asked about another option, nope - they are out.) Then they have the nerve to charge me the $20 corkage fee to serve me my own wine. (I completely understand charging a corkage in lieu of selling us drinks, but we had paid for the premium beverage package. So ultimately I was saving them from pouring me all their wine by drinking my own. Just irritating. My other half drinks only IPAs. Several restaurants had many options on the list. Forget it. They had Rebel IPA (the most commercial non-craft option imaginable) and 1 bar had some Dogfish, but ran out of it quickly. We shared our comments with a beverage manager who was very nice. He tracked down the last 5 bottles of Dogfish on the ship and placed them in our cabin. Then back to the Rebel. What irritates me most is paying well over $100 daily for the 2 of us to have the premium package, yet they are unable to pour much anything that they label as such. I finally started going to Murano and begging the sommelier to serve me individual glasses of wine, then paying the uncharge between the premium max and the per glass charge. (So now I'm paying even more to have a decent glass.) I'm sorry Celebrity, you can't sell people Premium Beverage packages and then try to serve them $8 Castle Rock pinot noir all evening. The bartender at the Gastropub literally told us, "Don't look at the menu. Just look at the bottles displayed on the shelves, as that's all we have." - Programming - They want tout that they offer classes and enrichment activities. Every "class" is basically just a sales pitch...jewelry...shopping (you know they are getting kickbacks from the retailers that get mentioned in this pitch), art auctions during which tipsy vacationers get bamboozled to buy prints or giclee at ridiculously marked up prices." While the main shows' cast is highly talented, and there was something interesting each evening, there was little going on to do on the ship other than shopping, spa, or gambling. The only fun events were a white party that got people of all ages out dancing by the pool, and the silent disco, for the same reason. Everything else on the ship ultimately is geared toward the Holland America set. Staff by the pool do not enforce the rule against reserving of chaise lounges. Countless passengers had their crap sitting out hour after hour on chairs, never to return. I tried on both sea days to get a spot in the shade or in the solarium. I even asked a staff person for help, thinking they have a way to put a note with time on the chairs. Guy just jabbered back the policy, "No reserving is permitted." I explained that it is being permitted currently and that I needed his help to find a space. He was no help. Food in the main dining room, while prepared adequately, does not feel indulgent or that of a cuisine-focused line. Grilled steak. Grilled salmon. Everything with mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. It's slightly elevated nursing home food. Celebrity wants to target the 40 something traveler, but delivers an experience that seems more in line with the 65+ traveler. Excellent live musicians around the ship, playing Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Nicks, Kool and the Gang. Maybe Celebrity intended to market to 40 somethings, but it's primarily an older set who books. Ultimately, I feel like I'm on a cruise targeted to my parents friends. I'll be 50 this year and this felt like a cruise targeted to my parents. Read Less

We’ve been on three cruises with Celebrity. Specifically on the Equinox. We were looking forward to relaxation, few kids and good company. The MDR was fabulous, food was good and service outstanding. Food used to be a little better in the past but still good. Couldn’t have asked for better evenings. The pool was very relaxing on port days on sea days we steered clear of the pool and took advantage of other activities in the ship. It’s an easy vibe on the ship with lots of little hideaways for relaxing and romance. No climbing walls and slides just pure relaxation. The staff are incredible and take pride in what they do and are always professional and helpful. They don’t see there families for months but still smile and provide outstanding service. It humbles you. The ports were good, loved Puerto Rico it was our favourite. The people are friendly and the food was amazing. Read Less

We love Celebrity and this is our fourth cruise. The only reason I took a point off was because stopping in Punta Cana was a complete waste of time. This in my opinion should be removed from the itinerary. There is absolutely NOTHING to do unless you pay $$$ to visit a resort. I also understand the ship is being refurbished and it needs to be. More furniture for the Lawn. Staff as usual AMAZING. They are always such a credit, so helpful and want you to have the best experience possible. I always choose Celebrity because the food is consistently serious. Far too many towels by the poolside this year but that could be spring break. I managed to find a super quiet spot on the 5th deck which was less windy and packed out. ALL cruises need to up their involvement for helping the environment and cleaning up oceans. Encourage recycling. Educate people onboard. I was pleased to see paper straws and recycling stations but still plastic bottles of water. Let’s give all passengers a reusable water bottle and commit to The Ocean Cleanup. Read Less

My teenage daughter and I just returned from our very first cruise and we loved it! The Equinox is a beautiful ship and everywhere we went there were staff members cleaning and keeping it beautiful! My daughter is a "germophobe" and appreciated that they was hand sanitizer everywhere :) All the common areas were very nice and with the exception of the pool deck they did not feel crowded. The public bathrooms were immaculate and in one of the bathrooms there was an attendant who would open the stall door, clean the seat, squirt your soap in your hand, turn your water on and hand you a towel (a real towel, not a paper towel) to wipe your hands. The pool deck and solarium were busy during peak times as expected, but we were always able to find a chair somewhere. The solarium pool (adults only) was not very crowded but the outdoor pool was pretty crowded during the middle of the day on sea days. Our cabin (6165) was spacious for the 2 of us and there was plenty of storage. The bathroom was more spacious than I anticipated and had lots of storage space. We enjoyed our balcony very much. Each morning it was nice to sit out there and look at the ocean or watch the ship pulling into the next port. The beds were comfortable. We took everything out of our mini fridge the first day and used the space to store the water and soda we brought with us. I read complaints that the fridge didn't keep things very cold, but I thought it worked just fine. Our room was serviced twice a day but we often had to request items (additional shampoo, etc) and I felt that our stateroom attendant should have replaced these items without being asked. From what I have read, our experience was not the norm and service is usually better than what we encountered. We were very pleased with the dining options. We did not visit any of the specialty restaurants because we thought the food that was included in our cost was very good. In the main dining room our waiters were very attentive and remembered our preferences. We enjoyed the food and if we ordered something and found it not to our liking the waiter would replace it with another item. They seemed to genuinely want us to enjoy our meal. We thought the steak and desserts were especially tasty. The Oceanview Cafe had more options for food than you can imagine! Everything was hot and tasty, and we especially enjoyed the omelet station, stir fry station and desserts. The selection at the Mast Grill was limited but very tasty and was perfect for a quick lunch on sea days. There was a drink machine at the Mast Grill as well, so it was convenient to grab some tea, lemonade or fruit punch to cool off while sitting by the pool. Being first time cruisers, we thought there were a good variety of activities. We enjoyed trivia, game shows and poolside activities. We went to 2 production shows, 2 comedians and a magician. They were fairly good. Our favorite thing was Silent Disco! So much fun to watch everyone sing and dance to their own music! The fitness area was adequate - I had to wait for a treadmill but not for long. There were plenty of activities but also plenty of spaces to just hang out and relax. Each port had something different to offer and we enjoyed them all. In San Juan we took a food and history walking tour, in St. Thomas we took a shopping/signtseeing/beach tour, In Nassau we went to Blue Lagoon Island and in Punta Cana we went to Scape Park and Juanillo Beach. We really felt at home on the ship and it was nice to come back at the end of our port days. We loved every minute of our trip and hoping to do it again! Read Less

This was our 5th cruise on Solstice class ships and we were very satisfied with our vacation. We have never been disappointed by the service or entertainment on these ships, but they exceeded themselves on this ship. I noticed also that the pool butlers took great care in keeping pool and lounge areas spotlessly clean. The headline band they brought on board at St. Thomas was a band from Nashville called, SavannahJack. Super musicians and really knew how to entertain. Some of the other entertainers were Ashley-Amber Harris, who did a tribute to Whitney Houston and had a great voice, as well as two feature comedians, who I found very funny. There was a wide variety of live entertainment throughout the ship, and we ended almost all our nights meeting back together in the Ensemble Lounge to enjoy one last drink and whoever was playing at that time. They were all great. My favourite stop was St. Thomas, I have been there several times, but tried scuba diving for the first time this round, and even though I am over 60, it was quite doable and interesting. Read Less
