We've always wanted to visit Alaska and I'm so glad we chose Celebrity to take us there! We embarked in Vancouver (lovely city) and went to Hubbard Glacier, Icy Straight, Juneau and Ketchikan. The Eclipse is a beautiful ship; very elegant and spotlessly clean. Service was exceptional all around. We ate at Moonlight Sonata (main dining room), Ocean View Cafe (buffet), and Cafe el Bacio all were great! We had mixed reviews at Tuscan Grill. I enjoyed my meal, but my husband ordered steak and he hated it. The steak was the only bad item we had all week. Our favorite was Sushi on 5, we ate there twice and loved every item we were served. We didn't go to any shows, but we were never bored. Plenty of bars with great drinks and lots of little places to meet people or just have a quiet moment alone. The ship only felt crowded in the Ocean View Cafe during peak hours. Embarkation and disembarking were tough, with long lines. We've had similar experiences on other cruises. Overall, it was an amazing cruise and we can't wait for our next Celebrity adventure. Read Less

We enjoyed another great cruise on the Eclipse to Alaska leaving from Vancouver. We had two days in Vancouver prior to sailing and one day after. We had a great time in Vancouver and would highly recommend spending a few days in this beautiful city. This was our first trip to Alaska but it will not be our last. This was one of the most scenic beautiful cruises we have taken. We stayed in a Sky Suite on the 10th floor in 1198. This was a corner aft and it was perfect for the beautiful Alaska viewing. We did a whale watching cruise from Icy Straight Point with a company called Glacier Wind Charters. This company was amazing and the tour was great. We loved everything about it. We also did a Helicopter/Glacier walk booked thru Celebrity. This one was not worth the 900.00 in our opinion. The helicopter ride was amazing but the Glacier walk was quite disappointing. Just not worth the money. The last tour we took was another one booked thru Celebrity it was a ketchikan wilderness tour & Rain forest walk - this tour was also well worth the money and so much fun. Our day at Hubbard Glacier was magical and words cannot describe the incredible beauty of this area. We ate most of our meals in Luminae and the service was beyond exceptional. We enjoyed some of the shows and others were just ok - this is obviously very subjective. The bottom line for us is we loved our trip and we will be back on Celebrity as our go to cruise line. The first part of the critique here is about the Celebrity experience… This was our first time sailing with Celebrity. Overall it was excellent across the board, with a couple of notable exceptions. We were traveling with another couple who have previously sailed several times on Celebrity and persuaded us to join them on this trip. POSITIVES: BY FAR, the biggest Celebrity Eclipse stand out experience for us, was the restaurant LUMINAE which is exclusive to suite guests. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff, service, and cuisine were virtually flawless the entire week. Meal after meal exceeded some of the more exceptional restaurant experiences we’ve had anywhere in the world. Personally, (and if you possibly can swing it and/or are considering a suite), LUMINAE alone would be worth the upgrade. Some of the other suite perks are worthwhile as well, the suite package included their “1-2-3” with fast unlimited internet, package, premium beverage package and the varying credits aboard”. The rest of the suite “perks” are more limited (at least at the Sky level and this class of ship). Although the butlers do a very good job, I believe they have too many guests to attend to at times, which is not their fault. The housekeeping staff were just great as well. Zero complaints. The ships interior (and this is pre-remodel coming in 2020/2021) are very very nice. The open atrium effect , the “Solarium” indoor adult pool area, spa, restaurants, etc etc. were all just fantastic. ______________ Daisy our butler was first rate all the way. Even when a couple of minor issues occurred she was able to more than compensate and/or resolve. We loved her and her smiling face every day. She's a very hard worker with great attention to detail and your customers' satisfaction. We were very very happy with her. Juan Pablo and Jose our servers every day at Luminae did a non-stop outstanding job. Quickly learned our likes, dislikes and accommodated us at every single opportunity. Smiles and friendliness as well as great attention to detail and professionalism were ever present. On one occasion that my husband left dinner to return to the suite not feeling well, Hugo quickly asked me how he could assist. He sent ginger ale, a bread basket and chicken soup to the room within minutes. Another outstanding interaction. Absolutely loved getting to chat with Bianca at Luminae. She is just awesome!!! _______________ The "suite" experience really made the trip for us. The benefits were well worth it to us. I've already recommended two friends to the Celebrity line and that they at least get a Sky Suite to enjoy the perks. On the negative side, I wanted to make a point of relaying that almost every interaction we had with staff members at Cafe al Bacio was bad! Between us and the other couple we were traveling with (also in a Sky Suite) we stopped by Cafe al Bacio every day. It wasn't just one or two people. It was daily, and not limited to anyone person, different people. I couldn't give you one good recommendation or come up with a name of one person there that even smiled or who wasn't looking and acting like they couldn't give a damn. Sometimes we were kept waiting while two or three were congregated chatting with one customer or each other. Attitude. Attitude. Attitude. And weren't going for complicated coffee drinks. It was for a couple of sweets, some tea, a coffee to go, etc. It was very unfortunate. Not even the Suite room card changed there attitude. I'm only speaking for the four of us in our traveling group. We talked about it daily, and tried each time we went back to smile ourselves and temper our requests. The Sunset Bar bartenders were also all and always unfriendly. No interaction or personality or smiles. In contrast all of the bartenders at Ocean, Mast and the other bars were great. The only other comment (negative) is about the room service. Which, food wise, was very unfortunate. The so-called extended menu I assume for suite guests, as you know, is only a few extra items. The one night we stayed in the suite and ordered from that portion of the menu, we got a filet (passable) and a ribeye (AWFUL), crab cakes. Gross. I'm sure we were spoiled with the great food at Luminae, but ... My suggestion would be to have a REAL expanded menu for suite guests that was actually above par. I'm sure the intent is to get guests to the restaurants for the best experience, but occasionally dining is preferred, and it shouldn't be such a sad experience. Read Less

We enjoyed our 7 day Alaska cruise on the Eclipse. The Eclipse ship was comfortable, spacious , and clean. Everyone was so friendly and the service was wonderful. Our stateroom 8257 was very comfortable & clean, we had a great view from our Balcony. Our housekeeper "Melvin" was so very cheerful and helpful. Melvin took care of all our needs every day, ie extra towels as many time that we needed them , he placed ice in the ice bucket every evening for me at 9 pm, brought personal items for our person care when needed, . Melvin always greeted us every day when he saw us with a warm & cheerful good morning (day) & have a wonderful time I hope Celebrity realizes they have a winner they have n Melvin I have some severe food allergies & was very concerned about the preparation of the food during my cruise. I am very allergic to MSG, raw Ginger, raw Garlic, spices like curry, turmeric, cumin so had to avoid them especially Indian & Asian dishes. Therefore, on the first day of the cruise I spoke to the Maitre d" in the the main dinning room and explained my concerns. He was really understanding and made special arrangements for me, he spoke personally with the chef about my dietary needs. Then he arranged for me to see the next days menu so I could select what I would like to eat and then checked with the chef to confirm that the meal was safe. By doing this I was able to relax and enjoy my dinner every evening without having to make it an issue. I would like to say thank you to our amazing and charming waiter, Vincent and the assistant Viviano. They took special attention to all our needs and made every evening very special. I extent my special thank you to the Maitre d, and the Chef for taking very good care of me. We ate at two of the Specialty Dinning Restaurants and enjoyed the meal, and attentive service. We selected the Tuscan Grille for a romantic Italian dinner & exceptional service (2 times) also the Qsine La Petite Chef because of the unique dinning experience show & gourmet dining (2 times) We enjoyed the 4 shore excursions that we took. Alaska is a beautiful place and make sure you go ashore or take am excursion to experience the place. The excursions are expensive but worth it, It was difficult so select which ones to take. My favorite was the Hubbard Glacier Inside Passage Cruise. Make sure you dress warmly for Alaska as it was very cold during the Alaska cruise. I, actually had to purchase a warm fleecy hoodie at one of the stores on the cruise to wear to keep warm . The entertainment shows in the Theater were amazing. The director of entertainment Lauren was very profession, funny and delightful to speak to when she was on board the cruise. I would recommend this cruise to my friends and family if they show any interest in going on an Alaska in the near future. In closing I wish to say thank you to all the staff/crew that made this cruise a wonderful memory. Read Less

We regularly cruise with Celebrity, and our Alaska cruise on Eclipse was one of our best! The entire staff was professional and friendly, and our dining experiences were consistently enjoyable. Gorgeous, sunny weather was a bonus! The embarkation team at the port in Vancouver was friendly and efficient. We were quickly on board after arrival, making a great start to our vacation. We sailed in Aqua Class, so we dined in Blu for breakfast and dinner. Our entire experience was excellent with delicious, well-presented meals and outstanding service from the entire restaurant staff. We have been in Suite Class on our previous two cruises and didn't feel Blu was a step down from Luminae. The view out the floor-to-ceiling windows was stunning! We ate one dinner in Murano, which was a special experience and well worth the upcharge. We ate lunch at the Oceanview Cafe, where we enjoyed the wide variety of offerings. Everyone we encountered on board was friendly and professional. Cruz, our cabin steward, amazed us with his almost stealth-like work keeping our cabin in tip-top shape. We felt so spoiled! The fitness center was large with ample cardio equipment and weights. It was especially enjoyable to workout while watching the beautiful Alaska coastline go by while at sea Entertainment was hit and miss on our cruise, but we found the acts with singers in the Ensemble Lounge to be very enjoyable. We love the layout of Celebrity's Solstice Class ships. We never felt crowded, and we enjoy the artwork around the ship. Read Less

My wife and I chose Celebrity for our trip to Alaska because the itinerary and duration fit our needs. It was a round trip out of Vancouver, so getting to the ship was an easy bus trip on the ferry to the cruise ship terminal. Embarkation seemed a little disorganized, from one level up to another and back again. We arrived on the bus with some friends, they were traveling concierge class; as such they were in a much shorter check in line, which gave them a head start to the customs check in line. Needless to say they were aboard long before we got half way through the customs line. I think they could figure out a better system that doesn't include changing levels twice. Also bring water because it is a long wait and we were getting pretty dehydrated. Once on board things were looking up, a welcome glass of sparkling rose. And we started to explore the ship that would be our new home for the next 7 days. Up to the cabin to drop our carry on luggage. The stateroom was spacious and well appointed. The balcony was a nice size with 2 chairs and a table. I use a CPAP machine and we had to request a power cable to reach the bedside, this arrived quickly and that issue was solved. Hopefully the poor placement and quantity of power outlets will be addressed during the upcoming "revolution" refit. The bathroom was a nice size and the shower was big enough for me (I'm a big man). I'm not a seasoned cruiser with 2 dozen cruises on 4 different lines so this is my impression of this cruise from the prespective of a first timer with an open mind. We saved up for this cruise and are well aware of the premium price we paid. Not knowing what to expect we just enjoyed our trip. The ship was lovely, large but not overpowering. There are so many choices for bars and meals. We didn't try any of the specialty restaurants, and there were some parts of the ship we didn't even get to. Our favourite place was Cafe el Baccio the treats were complimentary and the beverages were covered by our classic beverage package. We chose the classic beverage package as a perk when we booked, I understand this was not "free" but included in the price of our fare. It worked for us. We are not big drinkers but it was nice to be able to order a drink and not have to worry about the bill at the end of the cruise. We felt it was a good thing for us, others will have a different opinion. We had most of our breakfasts in the ocean view cafe which had a great variety, I especially enjoyed the "English Breakfast" station. My wife enjoyed the lighter fare of fresh fruit, yogurt and boiled eggs. We tried the main dining room for one breakfast and it was good but the buffet seemed a better choice for us. We are early risers so the buffet really wasn't very busy that early. We had open dining and enjoyed 2 lunches in the main dining room, where we shared a table with some other passengers we had never met. It was nice to enjoy a great meal with total strangers. We had our dinners in the main dining room where the service was outstanding and the food was tasty and well prepared. We didn't have a bad meal on board. We didn't try any of the specialty restaurants on this trip. Next cruise we will try them. Entertainmet, was perhaps the main area where celebrity needs some improvement. While the instumentalists were good for the most part, the singers were not all that good. We did go to several shows in the main theatre, Rondell Sheridan was great and we went to his general admission show as well as his "Adults only" show; he was funny without being offensive. Topper is a good production even if the premise is a little strange. More work needed on hiding the harnesses for the arial acts. Don't expext broadway shows, this is not going to be that. We did walk out on the last show, the comedian whose name I don't recall was rude and vulgar. I'm not a prude and I can handle raunchy, but a good comedian can read his audience and this guy failed miserably. We weren't the first out of the theatre and I'm sure we weren't the last. We were on vacation and our entertainment was people watching, relaxing and watching the scenery as we sailed by. We are from Vancouver Island and there is much of the same scenery at home. We have eagles around our home, whales in the local oceans and seals at the local beach. Still these things don't get boring or old. I wish we had seen some sea otters though. I have read many reviews about Eclipse not having this that or the next thing, that ship A,B or C has. Well I'm pretty sure that Celebrity never claimed to have a climbing wall or water slides or a go Kart track. If you need those things on your cruise you know where to find them and it's not on a Celebrity ship. My hometown is a tourist town so we have many souveneer shops that carry many of the same tourist trinkets that we found on our port visits, the only difference? Ours say Victoria BC and theirs say Alaska. In Juneau we did enjoy the stunning views from the Mount Roberts Tram and our little gold panning excursion. We came away with a little gold and the salmon barbeque was very tasty. Make sure you get the chowder I went back for seconds. We didn't explore Juneau very completely, by the time we finished the gold panning and salmon barbeque we chose to go back to the ship and relax at Cafe el Baccio for a treat and a beverage. Ketchikan is another tourist town, many of the shops are only open for the "season" and close the rest of the year. Creek street is a nice walk. We really enjoyed our King Crab dinner at Annabelle's, we had the chowder sampler, 3 cups of their different soups all were good. I ordered the King crab with a claw but they didn't have any claws so I got an extra leg. That was a little disappointing but I didn't make a big deal of it (unlike the guy at the next table). Good meal nice restaurant Every member of the crew was helpful, friendly and professional. When we had a small problem it was solved quickly and efficiently We truly enjoyed this adventure and look forward to sailing in Celebrity Eclipse for a New Zealand Cruise after she has her "Revolution" refit. This was our first cruise with Celebrity and won't be our last. Some day we will cruise on another line and I suspect my review may have comments about being great but Celebrity is better. Read Less

We sailed 10 days to Alaska. We are experienced cruisers and chose Celebrity because it sailed roundtrip out of Vancouver on a date we wanted. We fell for their marketing hype. It was expensive and not worth the cost. We sailed in a Concierge class cabin midship. We bought the classic drink package as a perk. There were some good points which I'll cover first. We did not pay much extra for the concierge class cabin which gives some extras that we thought were worth it. You get an expanded room service breakfast menu which included fresh squeezed orange juice and fruit smoothies. You get foot rests on the balcony which were very good. The afternoon canapes were good but we stopped them after a few days because they sat too long before we could eat them. They would be really good if you have late sitting in the dining room. Nice to have a canape with a pre dinner cocktail. The extra thick bath robes were really good especially on chilly mornings on the balcony. The bottle of bubbly in the room was actual French sparkling wine. It was decent and a nice touch to start the cruise. They no longer put flowers or fresh fruit. No longer give you a canvass tote bag. The Concierge was never around. Cabins were a good size with decent storage for a short cruise. The bathroom was very good with lots of hot water. Very poor is there is no self serve laundry anywhere. Throwing your stuff away and buying new stuff in port is cheaper than using their cleaning service. Staff were very friendly except for one buffet wait staff they brought on in Juneau. Rude and surly. I can't imagine what she will be like after 2 months at sea. Our cabin was really well maintained by a very friendly and helpful steward. He was always around and grreted us by name with a smile. Dining room staff were awesome. Very attentive and willing to correct the problems. We did not get bothered too much by the upselling. Ships officers were nowhere. Crusie director is tiresome after the second day. Very stale jokes. Food quality was mixed. We had some good meals and some very bad ones. Both in the MDR and the buffet. The buffet was mostly bad. Had many dirty plates and cutlery. More than half the items were East Indian and Asian dishes EVERYDAY. I like that food but this was way too much. It gets really boring seeing the same stuff. Some dishes were inedible they were so dry and tough. Maybe leftovers? Pasta stations were bland and watery. Pasta Soup! I was served RAW steak and RAW burger by the grill. Other guests had similar experiences. Some were very angry. We ordered poached eggs one morning in the MDR. They arrived in a bowl of melted butter!. Seriously. They have theme nights in the buffet. On Alaska day the only dish that was even remotely considered Alaskan was fish cakes and they were awful. I assumed they were left over fish from yesterday remade into patties. Not even a piece of salmon. No Alaska cod. No Albacore tuna. Alaska is the salmon capital of the world folks! We ate at Murano one night which was pretty good but too expensive. They offered a crab dinner one night which was an extra $45 plus tip each for a single king crab leg. I guess they have never been to Las Vegas!! The drink package was alright but selection is limited. Had no problem getting drinks or refills. Cappuccinos and Irish coffee in the Cafe were nice but they have to learn to wipe the tables. The mixed fancy cocktails were using premix and had hardly any alcohol. I would not buy the drink package unless it comes free as a perk or is very very cheap. Bottled water is the kind you get 6 for $1. The shopping on board is terrible. Poor quality and prices that are insulting they are so high. I can buy scotch for less in a retail store than their duty free prices. To order a $20 bottle of anything for your cabin is $100 plus tip!! They must believe their customers are stupid. They try to sell a cruise video at the end for $35. We saw a preview and it was stock footage from years ago. The ship was parked in different locations and pier has since been changed. You can get the same for free on youtube. The casino was poorly managed. We repeatedly had a young big loud drunk on our poker table and they did nothing to remove him. The art sales are a joke. Lots of Peter Max works. You should read about the current scandal surrounding Peter Max. The entertainment was awful. Jazzercizing while screech hollering is not entertainmant. Their troupe was not talented! The ships band was awesome. Probably the best we have seen on a cruise ship. Unfortuanately whenever they played around the ship it was jazz or the chacha. UGH! The guset services desk staff are indifferent not friendly at all. They gave use the wrong info several times. Had to get the right answers from other passengers. The main reason we would not cruise again with Celebrity is we feel their pricing system is predatory. It is like a dutch auction / russian roulette game. They hook you in and then start dropping the prices after you have paid. This happens sometimes daily. Our dealings with Alex from customer service in Miami were very poor. He did not honor his word. We felt bullied. Well Celebrity you had a chance to steal us away from Princess but you blew it. I feel you don't care about your passengers. You don't deliver what you advertise. You have not answered my 2 e-mails to you. You should learn the cost of acquisition of new customers and the future sales value of a loyal customer. We are wealthy, retired and active cruisers. Very poor business management. I doubt you read these reviews. My booking was 8608148. Call me if you have the courage. Read Less

Eclipse is a beautiful ship, the entertainment was excellent and of course luminae was great. Michaels club on this ship has a small bar and lacked the interaction with the bartenders and other cruisers as compared to solstice and reflection. This particular cruise included longer times in each port which made the experience more relaxing. Alejandro the cruise director was funny and had the cruise packed with top notch entertainment in the theater. Also, the naturalist, Milos was a real treat and full of information about the geography and animals in the area. When we were finished shopping in juneau we stopped in the mini post office and packed everything in a if if fits it ships box. For twenty bucks we avoided the hassles of possibly having over weight luggage on the way home. Read Less

This was our second cruise on the Eclipse having sailed from Dublin to Norway in May 2018 and were not disappointed. Our cabin was adequate size with a large balcony. Our room was quiet and had easy accessible to activities, pool deck, and restaurants. We love Blu . The food is excellent and seating allowed us to interact with a large number of people. I work out regularly and the area was superb. Open 24 hours (I found myself there one morning at 0430 following time change). The equipment was excellent and always available. The pool area was nearly empty due to it being Alaska in May, but a few brave souls including us frequented the hot tubs and made some great friends. We frequented all of the bar and settled most evenings at the Martini bar. Excellent drinks and entertaining bartenders. Last year we met up with some Irish friends at the third floor bar for dancing each night. Read Less

Sailing to and from the same port of call is a great advantage to me. This time from beautiful and cosmopolitan Buenos Aires is a plus to this cruise. I live there! Food is fantastic in all restaurants, main one Moonlight Sonata is huge. We had access to Blu the exclusive restaurant for Aqua Class passengers which was cozy and well attended by Nelly and all Blu staff. Buy sailing along Paradise Bay in Antarctica is the most fantastic experience I have had in my entire life! Put it in your bucket list!! We picked this cruise in 2017, and booked on last cruise as we had been to Antarctica and thought the Chilean fjords and around the Horn sounded great. Picked our tours on line, had our special C1 stateroom, over wake, and looking forward to cruise. Found out after final payment--our stateroom cost dropped almost to 1/2 our price--Celebrity was not easy to deal with-got a couple perks??? Then the "looking forward to" tours were cancelled for one reason or another?? The fjords were a waste --what we could see--the time of day--the weather--the Captains choices--same for going around the Horn (did not have to be early early morn)--soooo many things spoiled this expensive cruise. Food poising from the Murano restaurant, with nothing from hotel manager after being informed!! The entertainment was so poor---captive in the theater!!! The very last gift from Celebrity--the terrible cough many of us brought home with us--and still have. Think the new CEO is a bean pusher as the cost of everything has gone up-the quality is down--want the Celebrity Line from past 20 years??? GONE! The staff who is there to be of service to the clients are, as always, the top of the cruise lines---but hate to hear them beg for 10s on survey!! We will have to really think about returning to Celebrity---there are other lines to try--Elite Plus does not mean quite what it did. Unhappy with this cruise--can you tell?! Read Less

We flew in on the 29th, Celebrity arranged ride from airport to ship. We arrived at ship just before noon. Boarding process was easy and went smoothly. Everything from start to finish was excellent. Even the weather operated. Cabin etc. I'll comment below. The bottom line is we totally enjoyed ourselves. The Crew lead by Captain Leo made us feel like family and they wanted us to be part of theirs. It was an excellent experience. Entertainment was top notch. Some people say the ship is dated. We did not find it that way. Yes it is older but it is well looked after. We used Select Dining and it really worked for us. Depending on what excursion we were on the did not have to rush for a specific time to eat. We did not try the specialty dining but were told it was excellent. Café (coffee stop) was very good and relaxing at the end of the day. The Buffet had a wide variety of food and was good. The lounges were good and the drinks excellent. On this ship there is always something going on and if you wish you are more than welcome to join in. As I said this one was one of the best we have been on and Celebrity should be commended for the excellent staff and Captain Leo. He was everywhere ensuring all had a great cruise. We had excellent service from the time we checked in at the dock until the time we walked off the ship. The ship is beautifully appointed as all the S class ships are. One addition to this ship was La Petite Chef at the Qsine site. Although we would probably only do this once, it is well worth that one time, very entertaining and the food is great. Our cruise had an ambitious itinerary with only 2 days at sea out of a 12 night cruise. The ports were great choices and we chose to stay on the ship at one port we had previously spent time in. Our first stop was Valencia and we stayed on the ship, second was the town of Alicante and it was easy to get a shuttle to the end of the port and then pick up HOHO bus right there (discounted for seniors). The Santa Bárbara Castle sits above the city and the bus was able to navigate very narrow roads to the top, it is well worth the price of the bus just for this view. Another stop we made was at the Central Market, a great place to stop. Our next port was Malaga and we had chosen a private excursion to go to Granada and visit the Alhambra. Totally amazing. Every port had something unique and interesting to explore. The restaurants on board were fantastic and never disappointed us. The thing that stands out for us on Celebrity is the quality of service and how much the staff is committed to making sure you have a great holiday. Read Less

I can't say enough about this cruise line. Amazing! amazing! amazing.! We have always vacationed at all-inclusive resorts and never considered a cruise as we are a very active couple and felt we would feel "caged" on a cruise. I am so glad we gave this a chance and chose Celebrity for our first cruise. Everyone went out of their way to ensure we felt like we were the only ones on the ship. The food was amazing and there was something to suit even the pickiest eater (me being that person). We didn't eat in any of the specialty restaurants as we were very happy with the dining room and excellent service we received each night. The only complaint I have was the running track. Although you could run on it, it was also the main thoroughfare to the buffet so it was too busy to run on:( Other than that- Well done Celebrity! We have just booked our 2nd cruise with Celebrity! This was our second celebrity cruise and the ship was great. We had excellent service from domestic staff and restaurant staff. The food was all excellent not always enjoyed due to sea sickness and vile weather!! Not the fault of the ship or the exceptionally friendly and amusing Captain Leo. Sadly 2 things let the holiday, our honeymoon, down. We had poor service from most bars as the staff rarely recognised who was next at the bar often serving males first or those who shouted loudest even if they came after several others. Having paid for premium drinks we were (as on last cruise) disappointed by staff trying to give us prosecco or cava when we asked for champagne and not all bars serve all the drinks advertised. Our pool bar service was rescued by Ricky who kept us some after a few days of asking. Our sommelier at dinner Arnold was knowledgable and very amiable, never disappointing us. My final disappointment, although I don’t know what I expected, was after ticking the ‘it’s our honeymoon ‘ box we received a congratulations card and a whole 4’’ x 1’’ ship shaped fridge magnet!! Wow!! Read Less

Typically, we cruise whatever line is cheapest. For our honeymoon, we decided to go up-market for our cruise, as well as take a break from the Caribbean. Celebrity Eclipse was unequivocally the best ship we have been on. it seemed our honeymoon status followed us everywhere. From a card, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne from the Captain, to an invitation for sail away on the helipad, to the acknowledgement by wait staff in specialty restaurants, we have never seen a cruise line so well organized and in tune with their guests. Dining was sublime. I would argue the buffet on Eclipse was comparable to the MDR on Carnival. We, for the first time ever, dined at every specialty restaurant, including the Chef's Table. Bar scene was also perfect- upgrading from the Classic to Premium package was well worth the up charge. While our cabin was mostly typical of what you would expect on any other line, it was the small touches that made Celebrity excel; I.e., umbrellas, tote bags, chocolates on the pillow. Our cabin steward, Apollo, would stop working if he heard us coming down the hall, escorting us to our room and opening the door for us.No matter how many times we seemed to unmake the bed for mid-day naps, our room was never not made up. A far cry from what we're used to on Carnival, where service is only once daily. Celebrity's entertainment was by far the best we've seen on any ship. It was a wonderful change of pace to have live music throughout the ship, from the string duo playing during embarkation, to a live combo band accompanying the production shows. It was also wonderful to not have to contend with the typical poolside racket of belly flop contests, hair chest competitions, silly dance offs, etc. Ports and shore excursions were fantastic, and the reason we came on this trip. Captain Leo ensured that bad weather would not ruin our call in Santorini, re-arranging the order of ports to ensure we could visit the island. The ShoreEx staff was extremely organized- no milling around the gangway or on the pier to find our group. Hands down the best cruise. We're ruined and can only cruise Celebrity now. Read Less

Bbeing Aqua class we were able to skip the massive queues waiting to embark at Barcelona. Our cabin was great and well serviced. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellant in Blu restaurant and the staff were brilliant. We also really enjoyed eating in Quisne and Marano. Apart from the food, the highlight of the cruise was the evening entertainment. We went to the show every night as the standard was so high. W particuarly enjoyed the live music, especially Cardinals band. The ship itself was amazing and had every thing we needed and more. We loved having plenty of choice each day of where to sit and relax and never had a problem getting a sun lounger, which were very comfortable. This was our first cruise ever and if we were going to go on another one,it would definetly be with Celebrity Cruises. Thannks for the special memories xx Read Less

Chosen for the ship and the ports that it visited with the least amount of sea days as neither myself or my wife like sea days. Herculaneum was great but in my opinion not as good as Pompeii. There were a number of issues with the drinks package and some of the bars. The staff in select dining were excellent and the food was great as it was in all areas. Cakes and coffee to die for in the speciality coffee bar area. Some of the excursions in my opinion were very over priced. The cabin with its balcony offered excellent views at all times and were kept clean by the attendant. Little known people are the attendants who spend most of their life in the toilets keeping them spotless although there are many tourists who still insist on not washing their hands when leaving the toilets although I take great delight in telling them in public so that others can hear. Although we purchased the premier drinks package which was quite expensive and should entitle us to everything, there were numerous times that many wines listed were out of stock in numerous bars. We choose this cruise based on it's ports of call. Boarding was a bit hectic as there were disruptions in Barcelona planned for the afternoon. The ship was in good shape and well kept. Cabin was very good and our attendant made sure that it was kept in good condition and clean. Having previously sailed on the Equinox and the Reflection we found the food in the Moonlight Sonata very good and much improved. The Ocean View Cafe had plenty of variety to choose from for breakfast and lunch. Enjoyed the entertainment, guest performances and the Super Cruise Director Alejandro along with his Activity Manager Giuseppe. Impressed with the professionalism and sense of humor that Captain Leo displayed, he was visible and about when ever we seemed to be walking around the ship. Did not have a beverage package but purchased wine by the bottle for our meals. Dining room service was very good and were very fortunate to have two very engaging couples from the US. Enjoyed as much of the ships facilities as we could even though we were on a 9 port cruise with only 2 sea days. Getting on and off the ship was no problem as we planned our own excursions. Disembarkation went smoothly and we were bid safe travels home by Captain Leo and Cruise Director Alejandro. Read Less

After almost a month of submitting our reviews/survey, we're still waiting to hear from Celebrity Corporate office about our horrendous experiences during this cruise. We chose the Baltic, St. Petersburg & Scandinavia cruise as a way to see these countries & we always had an enjoyable experience with Celebrity Cruise line. The 1st. day started with an extremely FILTHY cabin, a dinner table mate who announced she had bronchitis & not on meds & it went downhill from there. After she announced her sickness, we told the Maitre'd about our table mate & asked him to move us to another table. Sadly, no tables were available & our 2 choices were: open dining @ 8:30/9:00 or the buffet - Oceanview Cafe. We stayed @ the table & 4 days later my husband bore the brunt of her sickness by getting sick himself. He saw the ship's doctor twice & he stayed in the cabin because he didn't want to contaminate other passengers. I brought him his meals. & whatever else he needed. He missed all the ports except for Copenhagen. There were other people who were coughing, sneezing & were sick who went on the tours. The majority of them announced that they pd. for this cruise & were going on the excursions & didn't care about being sick or passing it onto other passengers. Other problems we encountered were banging toilet pipes during the night for 2 nights between 10 PM & 1 AM. We called Guest Relations the 2 nights & were told a plumber would be sent up to fix the problem. The plumber never came. On the 3rd. day, I went to Guest Relations to again report the banging pipes & I was told, "We don't have a record of your calls so you never called the desk". I told the Guest Relations name of the person who answered the phone on both nights. Her answer was, "there is no record of your calls". I asked her if that person worked those 2 nights & she said, "yes". My response was, I didn't make up his name. Why didn't he report the banging pipes?" The other issue was maintenance when paint was scraped from the deck above our balcony & went onto our balcony..For the 2 days that we were in St. Petersburg we weren't able to sit outside & enjoy the lovely weather & pleasant afternoons. The net used to catch the paint was 18" - 24" wide while the area the was scraped was about 20' wide. Very few paint chips went into the the net & landed on balconies & in St. Petersburg Neva River. Our dinner wait staff, Rafael & Oleksandra, were excellent, always smiling, helpful, friendly & pleasant. Andrea, another ass't. waitress, was friendly & always had a wonderful smile. The Oceanview Cafe & bartenders were pleasant & helpful. Vivek, Concierge, was polite & friendly. We were disappointed in the daily announcements made by the Captain & Cruise Director because we could never hear them in our room. We always had to open the cabin door to hear the announcements. The last day of the cruise, the Cruise director said, "you don't need to stand half naked in the hallways to listen to the announcements. Turn the tv on to channel 6 to hear the announcements & not make other people look at half naked people". NEVER once, before the last day, was this written in the daily bulletin or told to the passengers. This cruise didn't have "sail away" opportunities for Concierge Class which we missed because we enjoy the opportunity to be on the helicopter deck or other decks when we sail away.. Because of these issues & our horrendous experience, I DOUBT IF WE WILL EVER sail on Celebrity again. Read Less

Loved the Eclipse, the service of Stateroom attendant Vickson, Dining room Inacio, Kastawa and Koray best of any cruise we have ever taken (15). Main Dining Room food was exceptional! We hired a private tour guide in Inverness and that’s the only way to go as far as we are concerned. J.A. Johnstone tours is exceptional, Ernie was our guide and added so much to our trip, the extra effort and price was very reasonable. We essentially took Hop on Hop off buses most places, but I would encourage you to use the GoDublin Hop bus. It is green, by far the better one. If you have the opportunity to go to the Tattoo in Edinburgh, don’t miss it. But don’t buy the excursion from the ship, go to their website Scotland Military Tattoo and purchase tickets. Transportation is the biggest issue, just get on the 43 bus and it will take you to the tender. Last run was at 11 pm so we went quickly but made it just fine. Otherwise catch a taxi while will be expensive. Felt the excursions left a lot to be desired especially in comparison to other cruises we have been on. The excursion guy Fran was awful. He gave little to no information, especially if you weren’t on a ship’s cruise you got nothing from him. Only part of cruise that was disappointing. Loved Glen Ord Distillery, small, locally owned for ages and excellent whisky. Loved the Jameson Distillery outside of Cork. This cruise doesn’t give you a lot of opportunity to see the highlands and scenery outside of town and also get to see the City. So, we are planning another trip next year to catch what we missed this year. Read Less

For this price range, I feel that everything should be in Tip-top shape. Celebrity's ship are way over due a facelift. I know that they are planning them, but I feel that the next year or so while we wait, I may try another cruise line, a newer ship. The service on Celebrity and the staff are always great! The food in the dining room and buffet are very hit and miss. This is another disappointment for this price level, I feel that you shouldn't have to spend extra to eat in the specialty dining to have great food. We did eat in the specialty dining. Tuscan Grill is always good, but I was so upset about getting rid of Qusine for this stupid Petite Chef- cartoon on your plate and a very mediocre meal, with only two choices- That was a rip off!!! I really missed Qusine the way it was. Our cabin was very comfortable, we felt that we had enough space. Bed very comfy, our stateroom attendant was excellent. I just felt that the cabin needed a facelift. The bathroom and furniture looked worn. I have a real bone to pick with Celebrity about their shore excursions. Do you notice that you cannot read any reviews on any of their shore excursions? I really wish you could. For that reason, I always try to book outside tours and excursions, but sometimes they seem like the best options, but we usually regret it, wishing that I had more information about what to expect. The other thing was that often we felt rushed during the day to get back to the ship and didn't feel like we had enough time to see anything. I guess this is the nature of cruising tho. I do love not having to unpack and pack to get to another location. I do love being at sea, But I think I may have to try another cruise line. Read Less

A Baltic cruise was on our bucket list. The price was right this year, and we chose Celebrity, our favorite cruiseline, to take us there on a 12- night itinerary from Amsterdam. The weather started out cool and drizzly, but after four days we had long glorious sunny and warm days. We are a mid-60’s couple from Toronto, and sailed on the S-class ships several times, so we knew what to expect. However, we did encounter a few unpleasant surprises with our cabin. We flew to Amsterdam and stayed one night pre-cruise at the Holiday Inn Express Sloterdjik. Using the rail it’s 2 stops from the airport, and 1 stop to the cruise port. A long Elite embarkation line was moving well and we were enjoying lunch shortly afterwards in the Oceanview Café with drinks from our Classic beverage package. The ship is very clean and being constantly maintained. The crew is friendly and the officers mingle with guests. While there were very few young kids on board, a large group of recent school graduates from Mexico was poorly supervised, creating loud noise issues well into the early hours of the morning. Maybe they would be better served on the other cruiseline staring with a “C”. Meals: Generally met our high expectations. We had Select Dining at 6:45pm at a table for 6 (with our friends). Waiter Endrich and assistant Alit did an excellent job every night. Our dishes were nicely prepared and arrived at the proper temperature. Our Classic package wine selections were very good and glasses were regularly topped up. The Oceanview Café was somewhat crowded at times, but the food stations are spread out and lines moved quickly at the pasta, stir-fry and egg stations (at breakfast). There were different cuisine themes relating to the different ports we visited. The ice cream stand offered good variety of flavors, soft-serve, and toppings. We dined in Qzine (group of 6) when a special deal was offered. It was the last sailing for Qzine, as they were changing it to the new “le petit chef”. Our Elite level light breakfasts at Tuscan Grill included cheeses, cold meats and fruit along with fresh juices and specialty coffees. There were few Elite guests with plenty of servers available. The “cocktail hour” now allows three free drinks from the Elite menu at most bars, but cold and hot hors d'oeuvre were served only at the Sky lounge. We enjoyed trying many cocktails on the Classic beverage package, guided by the lovely server Madeleina. The Café Al Baccio was a nice meeting place for coffee and pastries, although at times too loud with music from the atrium. The Aspen coffee with a delicious cake were the perfect nightcap. Entertainment and activities: Generally good cooking demonstrations (fish, steak), enrichment (about dogs), movies and trivia. The headline soloists were average except for the talented vocalist Jane Curry and Russian Folklore show in St. Petersburg. The big production shows Topper, Rock City and Euphoria were very good, but Amade was too weird and artsy for our taste. Ports: The itinerary kept us busy discovering six new cities and cultures with self-organized walking tours. Disembarkation was very well organized. We cleared our cabin by 8, waited in Tuscan Grill for 40 minutes and then got off the ship, found our luggage and breezed through with no immigration check needed. We shared a minivan taxi to the airport. It was convenient, but rather expensive compared to the rail option. Would we do another cruise with Celebrity ? – Yes. In fact we’re already booked for November Read Less
