Chose this cruise because it was a Repositioning cruise to S. America. Spent 4 days in Barcelona, exploring the city and enjoying all that it has to offer. Embarkation was quite crowded, but the lines moved smoothly. We had outstanding service on the Eclipse, both cabin attendants and dining staff were attentive and very friendly. Cabins were adequate and were in excellent shape. Our cruise director Alejandro, was entertaining and involved with the Activities and entertainers. Throughout the ship, we experienced personnel that were motivated and always willing to assist. We chose Celebrity for an excursion in Lancerotta in the Canary Islands, not disappointed very interesting 4 hour tour of this Volcanic island. I was not impressed with the port in Santos, Brazil. Not worth the stop, I would recommend that Celebrity substitute Montevideo,Uraguay, more interesting. Very impressed with Cartagena, Spain and Buenos Aries, Argentina. I have been on 7 Celebrity cruises, this ranks near the top! Read Less

Transatlantic cruise. Pros: nice ship, well kept , comfortable cabin. Cons: mediocre food....I feel they really cheapenned the menu both in main dining room and cafeteria. I had to really search to find appetizing items. In the cafeteria there was always a large section of east Indian food. I asked why and was told people want it. . I rarely saw anyone with those items. They need input from folks who understand US food preferences for US departure cruises!! And the non East Indian section was poor. I think they kept warming up the same pot of beef stews and chili for several days. A big disappointment compared to other cruise lines (NCL or Princess). Entertainment was so so. No Broadway type shows or big productions. Solo acts for the most part. Concierge class is NOT WORTH any extra money. Don't fall for it. Miniscule limp mid afternoon appetizers and use of binoculars and umbrella etc. Glassblowing hot shop was a plus. But overall a c+ grade at best. Unlikely we'll partake of celebrity again. Read Less

The crew on this ship lacks the friendliness and warmth we found on the Siloutte and Reflection. We are really disappointed with this transatlantic compared to others. Crew is detached not attentive to detail. Even Luminae staff lacks professionalism and attention to detail. Hope this is not a trend for Celebrity. Michael’s Club bartenders have no idea of what they are doing. Tables remain filled with dirty glasses, no one clears them away. They seem indifferent. Martini Bar usually my favorite is dull except for momentary encounters when they are doing their flight shows. They do not remember our drinks, dont listen to what was ask for and deliver the bill before the drink certainly leaving you not wanting to order another. This ship seems to allow cigar smoking which is really horrible. We went to Sunset Bar for sunset drinks and had to leave be because lf the stink. This ship needs to be taught by the John Paul’s, JW’s and Niazi’s of the woeld how to give customer service. What a let down this has been thus far. Only hope it improves. The best part of this trip in a suite has been our room attendant!! Read Less

We love crossings and wanted to visit Ireland, so this was a perfect fit! This would have been rated as a 5 star cruise, except for a couple of things. #1We feel that the quality of the food in the main dining room has slipped or was not as good as what we have had on previous crossings on Celebrity. #2. The disembarkation in Dublin was poorly executed and did not seem to be well planned. People had to wait for hours! A shuttle was advertised at a very inflated price, but then the price was lowered at the last minute. It only dropped off at two central points which did not suit us. We booked a private transfer ahead of time and were lucky. Our driver was able to maneuver his car into the port and get us due to cell phone communication. He was only delayed 30-40 min. in getting us, so we were very lucky. We got to our hotel and continued our day without much trouble, but spoke with others who had to wait hours. This is not acceptable! Other than these things, this crossing was wonderful and we will continue to plan cruises with Celebrity! Read Less

I love Transatlantic cruises. The days at Sea and made for me! There is so much to do, and nothing whichever you wish! Embarkation on Sunday was a breeze . We were warmly welcomed by the crew, who were outstanding from start to finish! Our delicious days at Sea were fabulous. We stay on Aqua so enjoy the Spa with those warm tile beds! Blu restaurant is beyond fabulous. Terrific food and service every night. The beyond the podium speakers were really good on the trip. We learned about our destinations, fish and comedy which was most enjoyable and informative. The casino was fun at night and the blackjack dealers were patient and very professional. We enjoyed playing tri dominos in the Ocean View at night which was cozy and nice for a snack! Eddie and Guisepi were terrific at various games including trivia which was fun. Our stop mid trip in the Azores was wonderful! We took a private tour we learned about on Trip Advisor and really enjoyed the countryside and a delicious meal at a locals restaurant. Our stops in Ireland were wonderful and the Waterford tender not a problem. Again we had private tours and loved it. The entertainment was very good , and when we were not playing tri dominos we enjoyed he shows. Disembarkation in Dublin was easy. The port needs to smooth out the egress process as there were many buses and people seeming confused. Otherwise just perfect. Oh, and we loved the Indian, Mexican dishes in Oceanview, enjoying every day at lunch! Great ship and crew. My only complaint were some fellow Americans who were pushy and sometimes rude to cries members. Read Less

This was a trans Atlantic and it made stops in Ponta Delgado, Waterford, Cork, and Dublin, Ireland. We initially signed up for the following cruise to Ireland, Iceland and Shetlland Islands then decided to give this a try, our first trans Atlantic. It was a great decision. We had a very smooth crossing, way smoother than the follow on cruise. The guest entertainers were outstanding, especially Jane Curry, a singer/comedian. Her show was SRO. The Beyond the Podium speakers were also informative and entertaining. There were so many activities it was hard to decide between them. There was music throughout the ship and it seemed at all times. The CD Eddy Jenkins and the Activities Manager, Giuseppe were hilarious together and made the cruise so much fun. The service in all venues including the Oceanview was very good. Food was very good to excellent. In lieu of an included beverage package perk, we decided to take advantage of a price drop after final payment and upgraded to a Sky Suite. With lots of sea days we really appreciated Michaels Club. I loved their afternoon tea and there was usually live music to accompany it. Manuella the Michaels Club Concierge was so helpful and Neville, our evening bartender was so accommodating. Eddy Jenkins took the usual Celebrity entertainments and enhanced them. For example, the Silent Disco became the Battle of the DJs. There was an evening of ABBA with dancing and a sing along, so much fun. This is by far the best cruise we have taken. With so much entertainment you didn’t even notice the 7 days at sea before we hit land. We liked the atmosphere and the attention of the waiters in Luminae but now know we prefer the more creative dishes in Blu. However, for a 15 night cruise with so many sea days, the extra cabin space and Michaels Club was appreciated. Read Less

First time on Celebrity/ transatlantic. Smooth sailing, friendly crew, delicious food, very clean, kept us happily busy with choir, watercolor classes, and live music. Best cruise ever. Ponta Delgada (Azores, Portugal) ticked all boxes. Fell madly in love with Ireland and the Irish. Shout out to fab tour company from Dunmore East, Aruralexperience.com!!! Loved them. Small family run business, best prices and service. You'll want to take them home with you. Our driver and guide, Tom taught us so much about Ireland! Our cabin was comfy and we slept with the door to the balcony wide open. Our waiter Niek in MDR was a ray of sunshine, as was our cabin steward for cabin 8205. Happy campers! So delighted, booked another cruise with Celebrity!l Kudos to charming Mati, Chief of Security for keeping us safe, to Captain Michael for smooth sailing and to Caleb for the great job done in teaching our choir perfectly! Very nice cruise, smooth sailing, fun passengers. Mynard, cabin attendant kept room stocked with supplies. Breakfast Room Service was excellent. Evening shows were very entertaining. The group, something, “Four” was outstanding. Can’t remember their first name. 4 young men singing “oldies” they also were on Reflection last year. Didn’t like the extra fee to use the sauna. I’m Elite, in Concierge, should have been no additional charge. Dining Room service, short staffed, NO warm rolls, just bread with small amt. of butter. Sometimes food was warm, other times not. I ordered 2 entrees, one would always be warm, Staff in shops on deck 4 not very friendly. I shopped on deck 5 which was a pleasure. I take this cruise for the TA. These small “issues” are really not so bad, the entertainers, the Eddy, the Cruise Director, Guest Relations and Enrichment Speakers were all very good. Have booked future cruise on Silhouette, just luv departing from Southampton. Embarkation was so easy to use your system, no hassles. Dining at Tuscan Grill, outstanding, food hot and delicious. My waiter was excellent, can’t remember his name, 11/7/17 6pm reservation. Joan S Read Less

Our 2nd cruise on the Eclipse. What stood out was the entertainment from evening shows to guest entertainment....were outstanding. The music throughout the various venues was varied and nice. Performers were rotated through the ship. Activities for a TA cruise was plentiful. Service was very good and management was very visible throughout the ship. I wished the time in NY was longer than 26 hrs, we arrived around 3pm and departed the next day by 5. The ship's common areas was very nice and well maintained. I wish the ship had more specialty restaurants ( Murano, Tuscan and Qzine ). They should include Sushi on 5 to specialty package. We enjoy large set dining, but too many times the table are not filled...they need to look for a different process when assigning set dining tables. Disembarking was okay, waiting for luggage after getting off ship was long. Seemed disorganized and not well timed, unlike embarkation (very smooth). Prices of shore excursions are a little high compared to excursions planned independently. Read Less

I wanted to take this cruise to satisfied four wants being met by the itinerary. I was raved to by past travelers that Celebrity was way above other cruise lines in Food, entertainment, and customer service. I found the cruise no better than any other cruise I had been on. The entertainment, for me, was sub par. I have seen so many air acrobats, I don't want to see another one. Jayne was good but, again, I don't want to see her again. and it looks like Celebrity gets their moneys worth out of her. Gilley and the girl, please. Hearing them was torture. There was an Irish comic that was very difficult to understand so, that was no pleasure. The only entertainment I did enjoy was the singer Mr. Hamilton. Our room steward (Sheldon) was excellent. He was quick and tended to a complaint we had about our shower door that I thought he would just blow off. They ran out of butter the next to the last night and one of the young ladies was going to go get us some from the Oceanview buffet. Never happened, she just blow it off, saying whatever was needed for the moment. The cruise was alright but, I didn't find it anything special. Read Less

The ED was Eddie Jenkins and he was helped by Guiseppe, Lauren and Brittany who all did a great job with extra games and quizzes . The cabin was always clean as was the rest of the ship. We only ate in the MDR one night as the food in the buffet was so good and it fitted in with our timing better. We did lunch in the dining room a lot . We had a lovely smooth crossing over the Atlantic . Overall we had a ball on this cruise and everyone was so pleasant . If you think there are too many sea days on a transatlantic cruise we were sad to see them end as we really had a great time doing all the different activities . I brought six books and was worried it wasn't enough , I only got two read . The ports of call were a treat Boston , New York , Bermuda and Bahamas. In Boston we did the HoHo bus , we purchased our tickets just outside the dock. We did the same in NY and purchased show tickets at the booth in TimesSquare . Bermuda and Bahamas we were on arranged tours through cruise critic which worked out really well. Read Less

We did the Transatlantic cruise on the Eclipse in an inside cabin - we found it roomy and the bathroom was a nice size. The food at the Horizon court and the dining room was great and the service was excellent. We made use of the gym and found it well equipped The entertainment was great (except for the production shows). Eddie and all the entertainment staff were hard-working and did a great job. The entertainment with Jane Curry, just John and Paul, the Flashback 4 and other singers/magicians was great. The hot glass show put on by Corning was fascinating and we attended several times and was one of the highlights of the cruise. It was a unique opportunity to see glass artists at work and they were friendly and provided excellent commentary. Now for the bad news. We have cruised over 25 times mainly on Celebrity and Princess and have never seen such hopeless production shows. Of the 4 shows, the Broadway show was good and the other 3 were terrible. The cast tried hard but could not compensate for the bad music, bad plot and the stupid bed-sheet people. Don't they test the shows on audiences before they produce them ? Apparently not. One final note - just before arriving in Miami we were offered a deal - $49 for a bag of laundry. Talk about exorbitant.!! Read Less

The British female singer was fantastic and the comedian at the end of the cruise was terrific. The cost of a martini has gone up to $14 USD. Wow! Nassau as a port should be just ignored - don't even bother to get off the ship. Overnight in New York was very special since we were able to get tickets to a Broadway show. Boston was historically delightful but cold. Having dinner in the Murano is absolutely a must. Dinner in Qsine is a fun time with many tapas type bites from around the world. The lamb and the filet mignon were top drawer. Order the Lobster Murano flambe and go back for the incredible sole boned at the table. Met great passengers e hope to see again. New York was a blast with the overnight visit and the town was hopping. We then went to Bermuda for a quick 2 days to enjoy the snorkel and beauty of the beaches. After another sea day we stopped for a short day in Nassau. Overall the ship is wonderful, the crew were happy and well trained The food was not quite what it had been on previous cruises but it was still enjoyable. Rooms and common areas were very clean, food was generally very good and the entertainment that we attended was good, especially Jayne Curry, she was amazing and very funny! Cross Atlantic with stops in Boston, NYC, Bermuda and Nassau. Excellent entertainment. Jane Curry was awesome, and active throughout the ship, while she was onboard. Can't wait to see if she is entertaining on our future Celebrity cruises, since she is exclusively entertaining on Celebrity. Food was great and the table staff so good that we asked, and was granted, to be assigned to their table on a future cruise. Crew was one of the most happy and helpful that we have had through 26 cruises. Our stateroom attendant was the best ever. So much to do on sea days that we had to miss some to attend others. Fortunately, the lectures were recorded and replayed beginning the next day. So many though that we could not catch up on them all. Staff made room for Mah Joong and bridge, sea day afternoons, in Blu and Tuscan grill. Definately accomodating to cruisers needs. Read Less

Jayne Curry wowed everyone with beautiful voice and natural comedy. Our excursion to Tenerife in a small van was outstanding because of our special guide. Probably the friendliest staff of officers I have yet experienced on a ship, and obviously competent with our smooth ride across the water for six days. Best way to meet fun people is to visit the Ice Bar, Casino Bar, or Ensemble Bar. Casino staff is friendly and helpful. We choose this as my husbands likes the repositioning cruise. We took Celebrity Air on British Airways economy plus out of Tampa Florida to Gatwick and were not all all impressed with the economy plus accommodations. They were very very uncomfortable. I think next time we will have to make some other arrangements. We took several day in Southampton and spent one day in Portsmouth before the cruise. The embarkation was the best we have ever experienced. Our veranda cabin on the 10th floor was well planned (we had never been on this class of Celebrity ship before) with space for just about every thing. The variety of food was as always something for everyone. We were impressed that the dinner menu had a 16 day rotation so that every evening there was something new to try. Our waiter Marte and assistant waiter Ramprakash were a great help with choosing just the right combination of dishes and Ramphakash after the first day remembered all our names and my tea every evening with out being asked. The waiter and assistant made dinner even better than we had expected. We were completely blown away by the entertainment, Jayne Carry and Jessie Hamilton and the great musician all over the ship back everyone and also doing their own thing was way over the top. Please do not ever do away with the live musicians!!!! We had a great time in Boston and New York but the highlight for us was Bermuda. The only problem we encountered was with Disembarkation, all the numbered luggage was out all at the same time making it difficult to find and then when we had to evacuate the building because the fire alarm went off. There were a lot of people with early flights that did not find their luggage until we were let back into the building and having never encounter the rotating belt before with three different rooms we did not really know where to look for the luggage at first because the numbers were not in sequence. My husband said it was the best cruise he has ever been on. I know that there were people who complained about all kind of things but we have nothing to complain about, we would recommend Celebrity to anyone as we do not like the mega ships and the ratio of space to passenger on Celebrity is the best in the business. Only thing we have to complain about is your website which sometimes works and sometimes has a lot of issues. Read Less

The lectures were not of interest to us but there were plenty of options available to keep us busy during the day. The Captains Club activities provided good socializing opportunities and Maila,, the hostess, was kind, helpful, available and did an excellent job. The Elite lounge for the evening socials was packed and very difficult to find seating. We chose this cruise because we had never done a Transatlantic cruise and love cruising so thought it was worth a try. We were happily surprised to find we loved it. We are a retired couple who like to meet new people but not into doing a PHD on every port. We like to get the feel and meet local people. The crossing from Southampton to Boston was amazingly calm which was a surprise even to Captain Michael. The Crew and especially Eddy the CD and Giuseppe the activities manager were all over the place and the list of things to do every day was amazing. There were talks and games and the usual Trivial Pursuits. Plenty of music as well which had been a bit lacking on a previous cruise on the Eclipse. The Guest Artists were also of a very high standard. Jayne Curry being the icing on the cake. Personally I enjoy swimming and used the Spa pool till we got to sunnier climes and then swam in the outside pool which was at just the right temperature. The cabin was very comfortable with a nice bathroom and enough storage. We usually prefer to eat in the buffet which as usual had an amazing choice of foods and a different surprise every lunchtime and evening. The ports were interesting, especially for me as it was my first time in the States. We also loved Bermuda and swam in the sea on the day we arrived. Nassau was a bit of a disappointment but nothing could have spoiled the wonderful cruise atmosphere. Both the guests and crew felt it was quite special. Read Less

We chose this cruise after much thought as being the best way to experience our first ever cruising venture - and I think we got it right. We wanted some time at sea to get to know what the ship life aspect was like - with some shore stops to test the water there. I felt the sea days were the best and some shore stops were not my thing. Boston, and New York were great - Bermuda needed a week and Nassau was just chaos. We went concierge, as that seemed to be a mid range experience from which we could give it a fair trial and could then go cheaper or pricier dependent on what we found. Concierge was good but the room ‘tasties’ were a waste of time and my wife said the ‘upgraded’ toiletries were poor quality. Other than that there was nothing that I really felt let down about and much I was impressed with. I should start with the staff who, with the exception of one bartender that was a pain in the neck, were close to perfect. They all seemed to know their stuff and worked very hard to give us the best time. The entertainment was also very good and the Jayne Curry influence on others was visible and appreciated. I should also like to point out the overall friendliness and helpfulness of other passengers. Negative experiences were very rare and the vast majority were pleasant to a surprising degree. I never thought that bumping into people would be so enjoyable. I must also say a special thank you to George and Carley who we were seated next to by chance on the concierge lunch at departure. We then found out that we were in next-door cabins and they kindly invited us to join them at their dinner table. This led to a lovely non intrusive friendship from which we learnt so much. This was our first cruise - we have booked two more already - need I say anymore? Read Less

It was a good price and we wanted to go to Bermuda and usually love the transatlantic crossings. With an overnight in Bermuda, I thought we would have 2 days to enjoy our time there. However it was really less than 24 hours and the timing of our arrival was not great. Because it was still considered winter season, the ferry boats weren't running to St. George so most of our time was riding buses.Because we had to be onboard at 12:30 the 2nd day we couldn't really do much. Even the stop in Portugal was late so we were limited in the things we could do. Arriving in port at 3 and staying until 9 didn't work since many things closed at 5. The menu choices and the food on the ship left a lot to be desired. The beef was good but I have been limiting my beef by doctor's orders. The other choices on the menu were a little strange. The fish and salmon was often dry and flavorless. The desserts were very good though. Although there were a few good shows, some weren't the best!
