It was our third holiday with the celebrity. We chose it because of the destination and time of the year. Overall we had a nice time. But still it could be improved by better intertainment. It was good, but too American. Not enough British music. In the dining room food is not consistent. Some days very good and some completely rubbish. Not enough fresh fruit variety. We prebooked select any time dining on line long in advance but we’re moved to second seating dinner without even asking or talking to us, which I thought was very rude. Can’t comment on enrichment activities as I don’t participated in any. The dancing classes were too early in the morning for the sea day and there wasn’t any other activities available. Cabin and the crew were very good. Excursions were not very good as consisted from parts that shouldn’t been put together and for that reason there was to much time just spent on the bus. Read Less

Bbeing Aqua class we were able to skip the massive queues waiting to embark at Barcelona. Our cabin was great and well serviced. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellant in Blu restaurant and the staff were brilliant. We also really enjoyed eating in Quisne and Marano. Apart from the food, the highlight of the cruise was the evening entertainment. We went to the show every night as the standard was so high. W particuarly enjoyed the live music, especially Cardinals band. The ship itself was amazing and had every thing we needed and more. We loved having plenty of choice each day of where to sit and relax and never had a problem getting a sun lounger, which were very comfortable. This was our first cruise ever and if we were going to go on another one,it would definetly be with Celebrity Cruises. Thannks for the special memories xx Read Less

We sailed from Amsterdamin in June and the itinerary was one of the most interesting we have done. This is our 5th cruise on Celebrity and our 14th cruise overall. As usual, the ship, the crew and the food and entertainment were all excellent. We were part of a large group and our travel agent had arranged for private tours in all ports except for Germany and Holland. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience on our tours. While the two full tour days in St. Petersburg were pricey, they included lunch on both days and were well worth the expense. Our tour guide, Elena, of Baltic City Breaks was our guide for the two days we spent in Russia. She was absolutely outstanding. In addition, Elena helped arrange for the other private tours in our other ports of call with the exception of Amsterdam where we spent two extra days after the cruise touring on our own. All the guides were exceptional and spoke excellent English. Our one negative experience on this cruise was one I had never experienced before in any of our previous cruises. Hopefully it was only with the individual who dealt with me and not a general approach by Celebrity. As is our usual practice, we do not participate in automatic gratuities, preferring always to provide the recommended tip directly to the crew member who made our cruise experience a great one - our room attendant, our wait staff in the dining room, bar servers and any others who we feel went above and beyond. When I went to Guest Relations to have the automatic gratuities removed from our account, I was asked to sign a book that recorded our cabin number - I have never had that happen before. In addition, to my surprise, two days before disembarkation we received envelopes in our cabin addressed to us with identified crew members who we should be tipping and the amount. Accompanying the envelopes was a card from the guest relations representative who I had dealt with. To say I was annoyed and taken aback at the arrogance of this is an understatement and left a very bad impression of how Celebrity chooses to treat their passengers who do not wish to adhere to their enforcement of gratuities. Since most of our friends had chosen to have their gratuities covered as their perk for this cruise, they did not have this “reminder” given to them. Gratuities are by our understanding, a means of showing appreciation and thanks for exceptional services. We have no problem with doing so and do it often but we were offended by the approach by this particular guest relations representative which unfortunately tainted our impression of an otherwise great cruise. We enjoyed our 1st cruise with Celebrity cruise and wanted to visit Russia for our 44th Anniversary for 2nd time with Celebrity. We enjoyed the cruise again. The service we received by Valentine in the dinning room was excellent and memorable. He has been very polite, helpful and make an effort to accommodate his guests. He respected our choice and remembers each night our likes and dislikes. This applies to his assistance Kate and Sue our cabin attendant. The entertainment is well thought and to accommodate variable needs. The quality and choices was very good. The cruise staff are all polite and helpful and ready to help regardless their status. The excursion has been valuable and tour guide is full of knowledge and gave us her unreserved attention. However, it has been too expensive in comparison to other similar excursions. The ship is beautiful and well maintained with good facilities. The guests are always well informed and able to plan their activity accordingly. Read Less

An enjoyable 14 day cruise. The ship is very attractive and well maintained. This was our tenth cruise and third on Celebrity. Embarkation was quick and smooth - the Port of Miami seems to do it right! Disembarkation (Easter Sunday) was long delayed due to a shortage of port customs personnel. Our cabin steward was excellent and the Blu restaurant (Aqua Class Stateroom) was a real highlight. The service was excellent and food quite good. The fellow Aqua passengers were enjoyable - we met a number of other couples and looked forward to seeing them again throughout the cruise. We ate in Blu for both breakfast and dinner every day and only ventured into the Ocean Cafe for lunch - always crowded and similar aggressive behaviors we've witnessed on other cruise lines. The main dining room on sea days was nice for lunch. We skipped the specialty restaurants (the up-charge for Qsine was $45 per person) and hard to justify given the quality of Blu. The entertainment was fairly good (the production shows: "Topper" and "Euphoria" were very good). "Rock City" was tired and the music was not well chosen for the singers' voices. In general the volume was too loud (and singers voices tended to be "screechy"). Many other passengers had similar complaints. The solo violinist, Amy Lee, and vocalist, Jane Curry, were exceptional. The string duo, Decameron, were also very good. We listened to them in the Ensemble Lounge before dinner each evening - very talented with an ever changing program. The Corning Glass Works was great - we viewed the demonstrations 6 or 7 days. Unfortunately, Celebrity is ending its relationship with Corning and changing to a "revenue generating" company with passengers attempting their own "glass blowing". We contracted for 4 of the ship's excursions - three "Highlights" tours of Barbados, St. Lucia and Antiqua and a "Sail and Snorkel" on Aruba. All 4 were a miss. Most of the 3 to 3.5 hours on the 3 land tours were spent traveling on bumpy, twisty island roads with two - 10 minute stops to view the sights. A real waste of time (and money). The bus broke down on Barbados and one of the passengers vomited on the Antigua bus (it was that rough of a ride). The Aruba "Sail and Snorkel" was also unfortunately a miss - nothing to see and a long catamaran ride to the snorkel location. We chose our own excursion on Bonaire ("BonaireVistaTours" which was recommended by TripAdvisor) - about 40% the price of similar Celebrity excursions and much better quality. The health and fitness gym was nice - we both used it on 7 of the 14 days. Nice equipment and very well maintained. Read Less

The drier to choose this cruise was the destinations. We still wanted to go to the ABC islands and this cruise had the best itinerary on a cruise line we trust in delivering an experience that would not shortfall of our expectations. It is worth to mention though, that over time there was a decline in the quality of their food but I still would rate it further up than many of the their competitors. On the other had it is worth mentioning that we received great support throughout the ranks, with special effort from everybody involved to organize and support a special dining event for a larger group! - Something not necessaarily supported by all cruise-lines. Organization in the ports was well organized and worked for us nicely. Entertainment contained some production shows that were pretty nice, but if we want to have a great entertainment experience we prefer the Oasis class of ships from RCCL. Read Less

This cruise was made by the entertainment . We had Jayne Curry , Just John andPaul , Jessie Hamilton , Flashback four and a few more great artists . Gilly and the girl were fab too. The ED was Eddie Jenkins and he was helped by Guiseppe, Lauren and Brittany who all did a great job with extra games and quizzes . The cabin was always clean as was the rest of the ship. We only ate in the MDR one night as the food in the buffet was so good and it fitted in with our timing better. We did lunch in the dining room a lot . We had a lovely smooth crossing over the Atlantic . Overall we had a ball on this cruise and everyone was so pleasant . If you think there are too many sea days on a transatlantic cruise we were sad to see them end as we really had a great time doing all the different activities . I brought six books and was worried it wasn't enough , I only got two read . The ports of call were a treat Boston , New York , Bermuda and Bahamas. In Boston we did the HoHo bus , we purchased our tickets just outside the dock. We did the same in NY and purchased show tickets at the booth in TimesSquare . Bermuda and Bahamas we were on arranged tours through cruise critic which worked out really well. Read Less

first time with celebrity and with the exception of the entertainment it was a great experience. embarkation was very smooth straight on board and cabins were ready, the safety video was a bit odd but it did get the point across. food was very good in the main restaurant and the ocean view self service restaurant you would have to be very fussy not to find something you enjoy. the café al bacio was one of my favourite places to chill. , we used room service a couple of times and apart from hot breakfast food this was also very good The staff in all areas were very polite and attentive you were never left with an empty glass for very long. The dress code is very relaxed my husband loved it I was a bit disappointed as I enjoy a couple of nights getting dressed up and although some did the emphasis was definitely smart casual even on chic nights. It was a struggle on sea days particularly when the weather was not so good to find a seat to sit and read so we spent a lot of time in our cabin which had a balcony so was not too much of a hardship. we had cabin 6216 which was great not too far from the lifts and centrally located just a small amount of noise occasionally from the disco. the entertainment team is very small compared to other cruise lines and although what was delivered was good it was very sparse and brief eg line dancing consisted of three songs, the acts in the theatre had no supporting acts so only lasted about 45 minutes. the sail away parties were non existent really just a bit of music, even the 4th of July was a bit of anti climax a few red, white and blue ribbons and a lovely cake. the shore excursions although expensive were well organised and the tour guides were all very knowledgeable . I enjoyed every port and did an organised trip I all of them. I wouldn't do an organised tour in Bruges again from speaking to other passengers they saw a lot more by getting on the bus right in front of the ship. the day and night trip in st Petersburg are amazing I wasn't sure about the night one but it was really spectacular. we met some lovely people the cruise was very good value for money and I got to see places on my bucket list. we will go with celebrity again if the destination and price is right but would consider other lines first a we enjoy a bit more entertainment . Nice ship. The Ocean View deck 14 buffet restaurant is the best of my 6 cruise experience. The food quality, the organisation. It was so good in fact two nights we did not use the main dining room. Activities less well organised and of a lower quality than Royal Caribbean International. The lunch menu was not inspiring and we never did have a dining room lunch. We preferred a salad in Ocean View. The Park West Art Auctions I find very off putting. These auction or mock auction practises may not even be legal on land. The rules at sea are different I believe from reading up on the subject. Celebrity Eclipse or any other cruise line in my opinion should not want to be associated with these practices but maybe the pay-off is too good. It is not in the cruise customers best interest to buy art with dubious valuations placed upon it by Park West and the seemingly offered at bargain auction prices. It made me sick to watch the people that were taken in by the buying frenzy atmosphere that was generated by the charming polite Park West staff. The activities staff did a good job but popped up 5 minutes before the start of let’s say a quiz activity and disappeared 1 minute after completion. They was little chat to other interaction. The Peters Port, Guernsey tender boats setup was painful. The ship has 3,000 guests. Why only 4 tender boats ? It took 3 hours to get everyone ashore that wanted to go. Any we were all to be back on ship by 16:00 I think that day. I know some ports need Tender service but have the correct number of boats for the demand. We have been on a Royal Caribbean International where 8 / 10 were used in a French port. Read Less

We booked this sailing because all the ports except St. Martens had not been visited. I was able to snorkel the reef at Klein Bonaire which was gorgeous! All the ports were great! The Eclipse Captain Michael, her Cruise Director Eddy were great. The entertainment was ok but has improved ! We had select dining and the staff worked to accommodate 12 of us traveling together. Food was very good in dining room, buffet and Qsine! We had concierge stateroom on 10th deck. Our room attendant did everything he could to make us feel at home!! He seemed to always around!!! Embarkation and Disembarkation was very smooth ! Worse part was getting a large enough van for all our luggage but wait was not long!! Amazing part of an Outstanding cruise the IT Manager Richard and his assistant Rolondo. Richard gave classes on all types of subject such as Google Photos and Gmail! Room was absolutely packed when Richard gave a class! Read Less

This 14 night cruise of the Southern Caribbean is a Caribbean cruise like no other. It stands out among the many Caribbean cruises for many reasons, the length of the cruise, the ports visited, numerous sea days to enjoy the Caribbean sun and all while on a great ship the Celebrity Eclipse. Most Caribbean cruises that I am familiar with are a simple 7 days of the eastern Caribbean or the western Caribbean. This cruise not only differs from the same old ports but provides a very nice 14 days onboard. The ports of Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and St. Maarten provide a nice alternative to San Juan, St. Thomas, Cozumel, Jamaica and the proverbial private port or island. The Islands visited provide diverseness in scenery, beaches, port towns, tours etc. On our cruise we experienced kayaking and snorkeling in the mangroves of Bonaire, the wilderness of Curacao on an ATV, sailing the blue waters of Aruba and Barbados, relaxing mud baths of St. Lucia as well as tours of all the islands visited. On most every island there is more you can do on a second or third trip to them. Celebrity provided us two amazing days in Aruba as we spent an overnight there. With 5 sea days there was plenty of time to enjoy the sun around the pool, partake of the many Celebrity Life activities, get in your exercise to burn off those extra calories from the fine cuisine or simply chill out on your own veranda. Trivia, lectures, glass shows, classes of various kinds and group activities all made these days simply fly by all too quickly. As always Celebrity provided fine entertainment each day and evening around the ship. The production shows were outstanding. The other nightly shows all proved entertaining, I did not miss one of them. Cruise Director Eddy Jenkins had a unique style that I particularly enjoyed, entertaining without going over the top. The various musical groups onboard were all outstanding with the exception in my opinion of a group called Sound Stars, while the musician were good the lead female singer was, how can I put this, hard on the ears. I simply could not stand listening to her but to be fair many enjoyed themselves dancing to the various numbers they attempted. The production show Euphoria is arguably one of the best production shows on the high seas, reason enough to sail on this grand ship. We bought a 5 night specialty dining package on tis cruise so I skipped my usual negotiation for a better price. We did two nights in Tuscan, two nights in Murano and one in Qsine. We dined in in Tuscan the first and last nights that provided a nice beginning and end of the cruise. Qsine was a group activity with a cruise critic roll call group which is always fun, we had 15 participating on this cruise. I cannot give enough accolades to the ships staff, from the captain on down all were outstanding. We had a normal veranda room and though a little tight is was well maintained and the bed very comfortable. Our room steward kept it spotless and took good care of us. Waiters in the specialty restaurants and main restaurant provided outstanding service throughout the cruise. The menu provided ample selections to choose from at every meal. The quality of my food was also simply outstanding. When we visited the buffet (which was not often as it was always difficult to find seating for four) the food selection was ample and good. I did partake of the pizza as it was freshly handmade and reasonably good. Eating venues around the ship were equally good. In short this ship well run and well maintained. The staff exceeded my expectations at every turn. The itinerary is a very good one for a Caribbean cruise and it is too bad it appears celebrity is not going to repeat it in the future. Would I cruise on the Celebrity Eclipse again, absolutely. Read Less

This was our first time sailing with Celebrity Cruises and overall, we had a very nice time. Dining: Since we were in Aqua Class, we dined at Blu for breakfast and dinner everyday. This was the best part of our trip! We were blown away by the service and the quality of food. Don't let their advertisement of "clean eating" give you the wrong impression. We were thrown off by this at first because we are on vacation, which means we want to splurge and not worry about healthy eating! Needless to say, we went home a few lbs heavier and we have no regrets! Although, I'm sure you can do it in a healthier way. The food was so delicious we just couldn't get enough of it. Filet mignon and lobster were two favorites! Balcony Stateroom: No complaints here! Plenty of storage space and our room attendant was excellent. The chairs on the balcony were very comfortable and supportive. Entertainment: Since I am comparing this experience to my last cruise on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas, I was not as impressed with the shows and entertainment. The vocalists and acting were good, but they didn't have that "wow factor" like I hoped for. There were a few shows that I could've done without but I did enjoy the Acapella performance and Rock City. It left on our 53rd wedding anniversary. All holidays were taken care of including New Years. They had a wonderful Rabbi for Chanukah. Our room steward was the very best. The dining room staff was exceptional. The one big negative was the service in the buffet area. Drinks were hard to get unless you were buying alcohol. The stores are good quality with comparative pricing. Eclipse is a beautiful ship and was decorated beautifully for the holiday season. I find that the pictures taken on board have gone up in price considerably. Since everything is digital I think this is just taking advantage. I love the fact that there are no formal nights. It is much more relaxed. Also, having the anytime dining you do not feel rushed. Entertainment was OK. The best performances came from acts that were brought on the ship for a night. Another thing I did not like was overnighting at a port because the cruise line was sponsoring a concert, which was costly if you wanted to attend. Overall a good cruise. Read Less

Our kids were on this ship for a Christmas cruise in 2015. They enjoyed it so much that they decided to do it again for Christmas 2016 and encouraged us to go with them, which we did. Room steward, Silvestre, was outstanding. Cruise director Eddy was great. All the evening shows and entertainers were very good and enjoyable. The production shows and the Divas were fantastic. Captain Leo was visible everywhere on the ship and was accessible to passengers for chats and pictures. The dining room menu was pretty standard with nothing outstanding for our taste but the buffet served pretty much the same foods that were available in the dining room. That was not a problem for us because we are early diners, fans of the early shows, and we retire relatively early. Also, late dining does not work for us. All in all, everything went satisfactorily for us, so much so that we bookd the same cruise while onboard for Christmas 2017. Overall it was about a 4.5 rating out of 5 for us. Read Less

We have cruised a number of times and thought that we would have a break but heard the adverts for the Rock the Boat 60s music "festival". The bands including the Searchers were at the top of their game and the event was hosted by Tony Blackburn who was excellent value as always. The music gets a 5plus but overall a 4 because there were various niggles. Frayed towels in our suite were an early indication and the Luminae finishes breakfast at 9am which is too early when the clocks have gone forward as you leave UK and meet mainland Europe. Most of the staff were excellent - special mention for Michael's Club - but a few had missed the customer care training. Housekeeping and general maintenance particularly in public areas good - putting aside the frayed towels - generally very good. WiFi expensive. In my view. Overall the Celebrity Eclipse is to be recommended if you are ok with missing out on the tuxedo and gown evenings. Casual is fine although it was a shame that dressing down was taken to the limit by some guests. Clearly a replacement for Ocean Village - for those who don't do cruises Read Less

This was the Rock and Roll cruise charter sailing . It was also an opportunity to see Eclipse as much is said about the ship. Embarkation was perfect-no problem at all and parking really good. Cabins were available by 1.30 which we were very pleased with. It fulfilled our expectations, especially the Rock and Roll-but the organisation was not good. We danced and listened until the small hours and had a great time. Many unhappy groups queued at the organisers desk as they were not dining together-which meant they could not sit together in the theatre for the headliner bands-this included us. There was no my time dining-which we are used to. We were on a table for 10 and the Celebrity staff did add another chair to accommodate our friend. Mysteriously, only one other couple dined on that table for the two other meals-possibly using the buffet to match dining times with friends. All together, Eclipse is a great ship-but no more so than the Royal Caribbean ships we have been on previously. The food was fine, again no better than we have had on other ships. In short, we had a great time, but would be very wary of a charter organisation such as this, in the future. Eclipse is a lovely ship, but so are others we have cruised on. We would certainly go on the ship again, but not pay a premium Read Less
