We enjoyed our 7 day Alaska cruise on the Eclipse. The Eclipse ship was comfortable, spacious , and clean. Everyone was so friendly and the service was wonderful. Our stateroom 8257 was very comfortable & clean, we had a great view from our Balcony. Our housekeeper "Melvin" was so very cheerful and helpful. Melvin took care of all our needs every day, ie extra towels as many time that we needed them , he placed ice in the ice bucket every evening for me at 9 pm, brought personal items for our person care when needed, . Melvin always greeted us every day when he saw us with a warm & cheerful good morning (day) & have a wonderful time I hope Celebrity realizes they have a winner they have n Melvin I have some severe food allergies & was very concerned about the preparation of the food during my cruise. I am very allergic to MSG, raw Ginger, raw Garlic, spices like curry, turmeric, cumin so had to avoid them especially Indian & Asian dishes. Therefore, on the first day of the cruise I spoke to the Maitre d" in the the main dinning room and explained my concerns. He was really understanding and made special arrangements for me, he spoke personally with the chef about my dietary needs. Then he arranged for me to see the next days menu so I could select what I would like to eat and then checked with the chef to confirm that the meal was safe. By doing this I was able to relax and enjoy my dinner every evening without having to make it an issue. I would like to say thank you to our amazing and charming waiter, Vincent and the assistant Viviano. They took special attention to all our needs and made every evening very special. I extent my special thank you to the Maitre d, and the Chef for taking very good care of me. We ate at two of the Specialty Dinning Restaurants and enjoyed the meal, and attentive service. We selected the Tuscan Grille for a romantic Italian dinner & exceptional service (2 times) also the Qsine La Petite Chef because of the unique dinning experience show & gourmet dining (2 times) We enjoyed the 4 shore excursions that we took. Alaska is a beautiful place and make sure you go ashore or take am excursion to experience the place. The excursions are expensive but worth it, It was difficult so select which ones to take. My favorite was the Hubbard Glacier Inside Passage Cruise. Make sure you dress warmly for Alaska as it was very cold during the Alaska cruise. I, actually had to purchase a warm fleecy hoodie at one of the stores on the cruise to wear to keep warm . The entertainment shows in the Theater were amazing. The director of entertainment Lauren was very profession, funny and delightful to speak to when she was on board the cruise. I would recommend this cruise to my friends and family if they show any interest in going on an Alaska in the near future. In closing I wish to say thank you to all the staff/crew that made this cruise a wonderful memory. Read Less

Intro: I have to say so far for us Celebrity has been to date the best cruises my hubby and I have done. I don’t think that any Cruise line has lived up to my expectations 100% of the time, and yes even Celebrity has some faults, but when on board and talking to other avid cruisers, almost all say Celebrity beats any other cruise line they’ve been on. Embarkation: Three ships in port in Vancouver on June 2nd. The drop off area was changed so we had to go underground to do this. This incurred a lot of walking, we had to zig zag, go up then down, then up again, down again. It was the craziest embarkation we’ve done so far. Thank goodness for the porters who took our luggage right away. They can do this as we already printed and attached our boarding luggage tags, which cuts down on waiting in another line. So I definitely recommend doing this ahead of time. If you have a disability and need assistance let someone on staff know and they will help you directly onto the ship. 7/10 rating Sail Away: Live band playing on the upper deck, which I love. Really gets you into vacation mode, however they only played a few songs, packed up and left just as the party was getting started. Usually the band will do an exciting countdown as we sail under the Lion’s Gate Bridge, but this never took place. 7/10 rating Dining: Mast Grill -Lido deck 14, outside. Complimentary This was open on embarkation day, so if you don’t want to fight the lines in the buffet it was a nice, quiet spot to grab a burger & fries or a hot dog. Oceanview Cafe- Lido deck 14, inside. Complimentary This buffet area had an excellent assortment of delicious food. My favorites are the chicken & okra curries. Some of the best I’ve eaten. They featured items daily which is mentioned in your newsletter. I only ate here a couple of times as I’m not a big fan of overly crowded areas and don’t like searching for a place to sit. You can take your food outdoors, however need to go down a floor or flight of stairs if you want to eat on the outside pool deck. Aqua Spa Cafe- Resort deck 12, inside. We loved this little cafe by the indoor pool area which opts for healthier choices or light little dishes of food- complimentary, and smoothies (fee $). I kept on going back for the Chicken Salad. The Asian Noodle Salad with the spicy oriental dressing was delicious. The 1/2 Turkey Bacon Sandwich on pumpernickel bread was also a hit as a light bite. We also enjoyed the soup which you need to order. This cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. MDR-Moonlight Sonata- Promenade deck 4, inside The main dining room is open daily for lunch (and for Concierge guests on embarkation day) but I never had lunch there. This dining room is gorgeous, its white, bright monogrammatic decor gives a feeling of airiness & elegance in this large venue. We only ate here for breakfast one morning. Service felt a little slow and our breakfast was just o.k. Moreno- Entertainment deck 5 We booked this restaurant for our first night as Celebrity offers their specialty restaurants at a discount then, which is an excellent way to enjoy your first evening at sea and away from the crowds especially in the MDR. The dining venue is a bit dark, and if you’re looking for an ocean view you will not find it here. Our $35 discounted fee included an appetizer, main entree & dessert. The Diver Scallop Wellington Style Baked in Puff Pastry appetizer with Black Truffle Emulsion was definitely a favorite for our group of six. We all ordered double and they allowed us to do so. We were off to a good start, however when our friend ordered another scallop dish in lieu of dessert they seemed a little ‘put off’ by it but obliged. Sushi On Five- deck 5 Not much to write about. Ate at this restaurant on the Infinity, it was so good we so couldn’t wait to try it again on the Eclipse. Something didn’t feel right...the ambience was different, service not as attentive, we ordered the same food, but it just wasn’t as delicious as it was on Infinity. Blu- Specialty restaurant for Aqua class guests- Entertainment deck 5. Opened for breakfast & dinner - No reservations We were a little skeptical to book the Aqua class cabin, however for us it ended up being one of the highlights of our cruise & dining, that’s why we didn’t bother to venture much elsewhere. On this cruise the cost wasn’t much more but it was well worth the little extra $$ to book Aqua class. Blu’s food was exceptional for dinner, breakfast was good. There are still the daily feature items you can order from the MDR that’s not listed on Blu’s menu (appetizer: Caesar salad, Escargot, French onion soup, Shrimp cocktail & for dinner: chicken, steak & salmon). Blu has its own kitchen with about five chefs. The conception is to provide healthier meals, so the Calamari will be grilled not fried & sauces are made more like an au jus than thickened with flour. My favorite meal for dinner was the lamb shank, it was fall off the bone delicious served with a curried couscous, some ordered it with potato...I can’t say I’ve had better in any land restaurant. Also the freshly caught halibut in lobster broth, tender and moist, so good. The best desserts by far was the Creme Brûlée & Apple Pie. Don’t even bother with the Cherries Jubilee, it was just plain awful. Overall dining rating 9/10 Drink Package: We at first decided not to purchase the drink package on this cruise as it was costly and when pre-purchasing online each person in a cabin has to purchase the package which would of been about $950 USD for both of us for the seven nights. Since I hardly drink we felt this would not of been worth it for this cruise. Also the drink package option included in the fare price package that was offered worked out to be more expensive than purchasing it separately which seemed a little odd to me. We instead opted to gift ourselves a $450 onboard credit to cover the majority of our alcoholic beverages. You can pre-purchase this online which is a great way to budget your spending and not get hit with such a huge bill after cruising. Once onboard staff are always trying to get you to purchase dining, drink & other packages. We told the waiter trying to sell packages that we didn’t purchase the drink package as we had to buy two and I’m not an avid drinker so it’s not worth it for us. He told us that yes online you have to buy for each adult in the cabin, but when on the ship you only need to buy for one! WHAT?? My husband immediately purchased the package for himself which was well worth it for him. Entertainment: Excellent from the comedy to the shows we enjoyed them all, some a lot more than others. We were lucky enough to see Jeffery Allen performing as Elton John. Incredible! This was by far my absolute favorite and the comedy on board made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt. 9/10 Rating Activities: Lots going on all over the ship from music, dancing, & mini performances by Celebrities onboard dance crew. Some things I wanted to do overlapped others. I really enjoyed the trivia in the observation lounge. Being an Aqua class guest also gave us privileges to use the Persian Gardens for free. The Roman beds (warm tiled beds) were a very relaxing way to spend a few hours in peace and quiet. You also had access to use the sauna and steam room. 10/10 rating Excursions: Didn’t do any booked excursions this trip. Juneau & Ketchikan have stores right off the peer so walking is easy. Go to an onboard seminar for information on the port and receive coupons for shopping and free gifts. If you need help going up the steep, long peer they will assist you. If you like to shop, go to Creek Street while in Ketchikan. It’s a lovely walk over wooden bridges and creeks with cute touristy shops in charming old buildings. Choose to shop or see Mendenhall Glacier while in Juneau or take a tour of the Alaskan Brewery. Shore excursions can be booked with many different tour operators. Just make sure they have a ‘back to ship on time’ guarantee. When booking third party excursions be very aware of the time the ship gets into port. This doesn’t mean you can get off at that time. It can take up to approximately 2 hrs from when a ship docks to when your able to disembark. Not to mention the crowds of other people also trying to disembark, so leave time for this. Service -Blu- Staff that served us here were exceptional! A big thank you to Dan, Maria Hugo & “Z” ( can’t recall his full name). Their personalized service goes beyond words. No matter where they were working on the ship they always spotted us and came over to assist since we were traveling with 2 people with slight disabilities. I was pushing my friend in his wheelchair to the cafeteria for lunch and never had to look for someone to help us carry plates etc., staff appeared from nowhere and insisted to help us each time without me ever asking. Another time our friend got lost in the cafeteria (yes it’s that large) and Maria (waitstaff at Blu) recognized her, helped her with her plate. Searched and found us and brought her over. So far the best service I’ve experienced on a cruise. Are there some areas on board that I felt service was lacking? Absolutely...The Sunset Bar. Two guys, rude to guests and each other. Arguing in front of us, one demanding an apology from the other. Time to get off the ship guys! -Pushing sales- You’re bombarded when you get onboard. They want you to purchase drink, dining & spa packages etc. I get it, sales are important to most business’ small & large, but it’s really overkill. We would just kindly say no thanks. Cruise director- Lauren was amazing...that’s one hard working lady. She was seen everywhere and always seemed to invest time interacting with passengers. On HAL cruise last fall we only saw our cruise director once, I was actually starting to think maybe there’s not even one on board and then there he was standing by the piano, having a drink wondering when the day was going to end. I’m not going to take away from those who went above and beyond in service, so I’m rating Service 10/10 Overall: Celebrity seems to have the right balance with things to do, dining and entertainment. No wonder it appeals to age groups in their late 20’s and up. If your looking for an elegant, upscale cruise that’s not too ostentatious then Celebrity’s for you. We love everything from the size, beauty and cleanliness of the ships, to the quality of food and service we receive. Read Less

On this cruise, Celebrity got the formula exactly right. Great ports, great food, great accommodations, excellent service and spectacular entertainment! What more could you ask for! This was by far the best cruise we’ve ever taken. We’ve sailed with Royal Caribbean, Princess and Celebrity in the past and although each cruise has it’s positive and negative points, we’ve found Celebrity to be the best. CHECK IN: We read all the negative reviews about check in and were concerned. There was no need to be. Celebrity was extremely well organized on this cruise and check-in was a breeze. We received email confirmations about staggered check in times. Each deck was assigned a specific check in time, starting from the top deck downward, and the lines moved quickly. DINING: Overall, meals on board were of good quality. Concierge Class were given a delicious lunch in the main dining room on embarkation day. Although we were aware of this, we were not given the time of the lunch until we had checked in. Saved us from braving the masses at the Oceanview Cafe on embarkation day. We avoided eating at Oceanview mainly for that reason. We chose instead to eat all our meals (including breakfast) in either the main dining room or the specialty restaurants. The Main dining room offered a good variety of choices and service was also good. We tried all the specialty restaurants and the quality, menu choices and service were all superb. They were well worth the additional cost. ENTERTAINMENT: Again, don’t believe all the negative reviews you’ve read. On this particular Celebrity ship, entertainment was superb. The shows each night in the theatre were spectacular. The best we’ve ever experienced on any cruise. The cruise director Giuseppe was young, energetic and had a great sense of humor. His ability to engage the crowd, as well as make things fun and light hearted, are unmatched. He was by far the best cruise director we’ve had on any cruise we’ve taken. EXCURSIONS: Overall, the choice and quality of excursions were disappointing and pricing steep. Better communication, directions and signage would be helpful. CLEANLINESS: Overall good, but could use some improvement. Tables in common areas were obviously not wiped down regularly. Rings and stains from drinks and food were still visible. In addition, young Captain Leo was the most visible and personable of all the Captains on past cruises we’ve taken. It was really nice to see him and the rest of his team engaging and interacting with other passengers. All in all, it was a wonderful cruise and we would definitely recommend and sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

We were traveling with friends and my friend found the cruise. We had traveled on Celebrity before so we decided to go. We were concerned about the number of sea days but that was never a problem. There was plenty to do onboard. The staff was excellent from our room steward, Pablo, to the servers in the dining room and specialty restaurants. The entertainment was the best of any cruise we have taken. We love the live music and the shows. The ship’s public areas were spotless. The only problem we encountered was disembarking at ports. The wait was ridiculous with long lines waiting in hot corridors. There also was too little help for handicapped people getting on buses. Overall it was a great time. I would recommend it wholeheartedly. The food was very good especially in Murano’s specialty restaurant. Quisine was different and the food better than expected. It is more of a novelty restaurant. This was a trans Atlantic and it made stops in Ponta Delgado, Waterford, Cork, and Dublin, Ireland. We initially signed up for the following cruise to Ireland, Iceland and Shetlland Islands then decided to give this a try, our first trans Atlantic. It was a great decision. We had a very smooth crossing, way smoother than the follow on cruise. The guest entertainers were outstanding, especially Jane Curry, a singer/comedian. Her show was SRO. The Beyond the Podium speakers were also informative and entertaining. There were so many activities it was hard to decide between them. There was music throughout the ship and it seemed at all times. The CD Eddy Jenkins and the Activities Manager, Giuseppe were hilarious together and made the cruise so much fun. The service in all venues including the Oceanview was very good. Food was very good to excellent. In lieu of an included beverage package perk, we decided to take advantage of a price drop after final payment and upgraded to a Sky Suite. With lots of sea days we really appreciated Michaels Club. I loved their afternoon tea and there was usually live music to accompany it. Manuella the Michaels Club Concierge was so helpful and Neville, our evening bartender was so accommodating. Eddy Jenkins took the usual Celebrity entertainments and enhanced them. For example, the Silent Disco became the Battle of the DJs. There was an evening of ABBA with dancing and a sing along, so much fun. This is by far the best cruise we have taken. With so much entertainment you didn’t even notice the 7 days at sea before we hit land. We liked the atmosphere and the attention of the waiters in Luminae but now know we prefer the more creative dishes in Blu. However, for a 15 night cruise with so many sea days, the extra cabin space and Michaels Club was appreciated. Read Less

We chose this to return to Bonaire. Also, because it was Celebrity. The plus was our first trip to Curacao. What a beautiful place. The ship was very clean. Dining was very good Everywhere Entertainment was top notch. Celebrity has so upped their game. We have been on Celebrity 13 times and many were two weeks. We have traveled with them for 23 years and we see how hard they have worked on entertainment. I felt the cruise director was excellent Service was exceptional. The staff never runs out of smiles and their willingness to help It was the best embarcation ever. We were off 30 minutes earlier then predicted It was exciting seeing the captain and cruise director as we exited Certainly made it more personal Our return to Bonair was great. The clear water and visible fish along the shore is exciting I would return there again Thank you for a wonderful cruise. Read Less

Live music was superb. Orchestra outstanding in quality and played almost every day, often multiple times and in different venues. Most of guest entertainers were excellent. Production shows not to everyone's taste in music but cast of singers and dancers one of the best I've ever seen on a cruise ship. Visibility and involvement of officers outstanding (Captain Leo, Hotel Director Andrea, Cruise Director Eddy, Activities Director Giuseppe). Food excellent, especially specialty restaurants. Qsine had the friendliest service and great variety. Murano very sophisticated, service more restrained but superb food and presentation. Food in Tuscan Grill good, but a bit below the other two. Extra time in Curacao a big plus. We love the ABC islands. Cabin smallish but adequate, but could use more drawer space. Cabin attendants superb; immaculate cleaning twice daily. Bar service and choices in Elite lounge: more limited hours and beverage choices than the comparable Diamond Lounge on RCCL. Loyalty host Dave Perrien extremely friendly and available. Other nice loyalty perks such as high tea, wine tasting and free bag of laundry. Ship in excellent condition although no "wow" features. I'd definitely go again. Read Less

We wanted to take a cruise with ETA which allows for motorcycle. This was the ship they were using. However, we had taken previous cruise with Celebrity Eclipse and had a wonderful time. Will definitely go again. Service, food, entertainment and the people were all friendly and appeared happy with their jobs. The various venues on the ship provided variety throughout the days and nights. Cabin has plenty of storage. The shower was larger than other cruise ships we have traveled. Plenty of hot water. Getting on and off the ship at the ports was very easy and no long lines. Main dining room service and food was very good with good presentation. The waiters were very attentive and knew exactly what our drink of choice was for dinner. The wine sommenier was amazing. He would remember the wine of choice as well a make perfect recommendations. We will definitely travel with Celebrity again. Eclipse is great ship....it would depend on the ports but it is a wonderful ship. Read Less

Jose, our cabin steward for 1505, was generous, pleasant, and extremely good at keeping our cabin clean and organized! Our Blu restaurant waiters, Tyrone and Ljuben, made our evening meals very special and were a good team. Tyrone was a consummate professional, always very concerned with our well-being and satisfaction. Ljuben was also professional, but showed us a wonderful sense of humor, and remembered our preferences...in my case, Creme Brullee. I had doubts about whether I would like Blu, which was for the Aqua class passengers, and had a reputation for “healthier” food. Well, the food was tasty, and I still gained weight! They put my doubts to rest! Gilly and the Girl were magical....perhaps the best non-main theater act I have seen in more than 100 days of cruising! Michael Redden was also wonderful, and the James Taylor show they performed together was a highlight! We also greatly enjoyed the four talks given by Eddie, the cruise director, as they were amusing and informative. The Eclipse orchestra was excellent, but the saxaphone player was a standout! We weren’t particularly happy with the production shows, other than the closing show, Euphoria, which was wonderful! We don’t fault the talented cast, but all three earlier shows were...I don’t know..avant garde? We didn’t really get them, and we weren’t alone. My suspicion is that it is an age issue. We are in our mid-sixties, and I assume the corporate entertainment designers are attempting to appeal to a younger market. The relaxation room, close to our cabin was a wonderful, and often private, delight! The Solarium was such a pleasant place! I enjoy a late night meal, and was a bit disappointed at being limited to pasta. Actually, though, the late night food selection and the baffling production shows were my only complaints, and I am sure both of those things are decided at a corporate level. Everyone who serves, entertains, or manages on this ship did an amazing job! We came away feeling very pampered, and looking forward to another cruise! Read Less

We chose this cruise after much thought as being the best way to experience our first ever cruising venture - and I think we got it right. We wanted some time at sea to get to know what the ship life aspect was like - with some shore stops to test the water there. I felt the sea days were the best and some shore stops were not my thing. Boston, and New York were great - Bermuda needed a week and Nassau was just chaos. We went concierge, as that seemed to be a mid range experience from which we could give it a fair trial and could then go cheaper or pricier dependent on what we found. Concierge was good but the room ‘tasties’ were a waste of time and my wife said the ‘upgraded’ toiletries were poor quality. Other than that there was nothing that I really felt let down about and much I was impressed with. I should start with the staff who, with the exception of one bartender that was a pain in the neck, were close to perfect. They all seemed to know their stuff and worked very hard to give us the best time. The entertainment was also very good and the Jayne Curry influence on others was visible and appreciated. I should also like to point out the overall friendliness and helpfulness of other passengers. Negative experiences were very rare and the vast majority were pleasant to a surprising degree. I never thought that bumping into people would be so enjoyable. I must also say a special thank you to George and Carley who we were seated next to by chance on the concierge lunch at departure. We then found out that we were in next-door cabins and they kindly invited us to join them at their dinner table. This led to a lovely non intrusive friendship from which we learnt so much. This was our first cruise - we have booked two more already - need I say anymore? Read Less

Late booking secured excellent deal with adjacent balcony cabins and inclusive drinks package for 4 adults. A beautiful Ship in excellent condition. The most visible and charismatic Captain we have ever had on 10 cruises - his charm and hospitality permeated through all the officers and the entire crew. The fastest embarkation and disembarkation we have ever experienced - superbly organised. Excellent wheel-chair assistance from car to lounge on ship on departure and the reverse on arrival. Excellent clean cabin with attentive room steward and cleaner, Plenty of quiet space around the ship and excellent on-board facilities. Great entertainment and shows. Singers, Dancers, Juggler, Comedian, and other shows - plenty of space in theatre with no queues, Wonderful food well served, huge choice, lovely main dining room. Despite 2800 passengers - it never felt crowded. One small niggle was the Lisbon City Tour by coach organised through Celebrity - a very poor guide, the route was not clearly described and the coach did not stop at the main sights in Lisbon. We should have arranged our own tour by taxi. The city looked wonderful. Read Less

What can I say, just outstanding. The staff were friendly and worked so hard and a special mention of our waiter and assistant waiter on table 219, Jason and Pande and Aleks the Sommelier. Didn't see much of our cabin steward but when we did see him he was lovely and kept the room immaculate. The food was exceptional ,one comment though that I think it needs to have more variety on it as it didn't change that much, still had Filet and Chateau Briand and my husband loved the escargots. The ship was beautiful as we expected, could do with some more lifts as they were extremely busy at certain periods of the trip but that was no big deal. Eddie the entertainment director was fabulous as was our Captain "the voice from above", certainly was very visible and mixed with all the passengers which makes a change. The shows were excellent as were the individual acts that came on, Jane Curry was terrific as were the McDonald brothers. The tours were good although the storm in Rome put a slight dampener on things but that's not Celebrity's fault. My husband and myself loved everything about the cruise that whilst on board we booked the next one, roll on September 23rd next year. Read Less

Everything was fantastic. The ports of call were fantastic. I liked all of them very much, however Bergen was quite rainy and cold. That made it a little difficult to get out and find our way around very easily. Flam and Geiranger were a little more remote and rugged. Alesund and Stavinger were bigger towns than I expected. All in all it was truly the trip of a lifetime for my husband and I. Our time on the ship was quite fantastic as well. Plenty to do and see while on Sea days. We saw most of the shows and they really were a professional, well done job, with talented performers. In past cruises, that was a little bit of a let down, but the Celebrity Eclipse shows were really quite nice. The ship was clean, and we found all employees to be very helpful and friendly. This is our fourth cruise on Celebrity. We wanted to see St Petersburg so had a three day tour with SPB which I would highly recommend. It our was so nice to be in a small group and the guide,Lena, was excellent. We did not eat in specialty restaurants because we found the meals excellent in the dining room and the choices in the buffet exceptional. I did not care for some of the jazz and the singer Lauren who sang in the main foyer. As the average age was probably 70, music should be geared to that age group. Two of the shows in the Theater were too loud and because the songs were not familiar, you could not understand the words. Maybe I should change to a Holland America! My main complaint with Celebrity is that they will not put Bridge games in the daily bulletin. They put it on the bulletin board by Guest Services - 10am - 2pm. In the card room. There is no sign up sheet, cards or score cards. No one wants to play for four hours and it is not drop in because you have to be there at 10 am if you want to get a partner. A lady whose husband had brought her in a wheelchair did not find a partner. Many handicapped people can not play the physical games which are organized by the staff. Cards are available at Guest Services. I have complained about this issue to Celebrity but they said that since it is not organized by the ship, it can not be put in the bulletin and yet other groups not organized by the ship are in the bulletin. There are Bridge Cruises but who wants to play Bridge all day? There were 350 children on board and because of the excellent kids programs, you hardly noticed them. All in all, a wonderful cruise with wonderful ports. The service and food were excellent. Read Less

Very unsure about ' cruising' but wanted to visit St Petersburg and as this Celebrity Eclipse cruise was there for 2 nights and 3 days it ticked the main box.As we parked our car at the port and the service started we knew it was going to good.It was better than that , it was outstanding. The ship was amazing, immaculately clean, it sparkled. The food was impressive, we ate in the MDR for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was varied, delicious and hot. We did meet up with friends once in theTuscan Grill, and it too was excellent but the MDR quality and service compared very favourably.Only had 1 buffet meal ( late up and the MDR had closed at 8.30am , because of early excursions) but I do like a cloth on our table and prefer waiter service when on holiday, I was also put off by the amount of food some people had piled on to their plates, one man walked past me with enough food on his plate to feed 4 people! I popped in once or twice during the day to get an iced tea and was stunned by the amount of food people were tucking in to.Our C1 cabin at the stern was excellent, and was kept clean and well serviced ( glad to have the long walk to it to help burn the calories) We enjoyed all the shows and got a great seat every night , no problem.Sue Denning works so hard to make sure everyone is informed with all the varied entertainment options that is available every day/night .We attended a few talks and presentations which we found interesting and entertaining. We loved the quiet corners with comfortable armchairs where we could sit and relax and ' people watch' , we would have liked to enjoy the Cafe Baico but getting a seat there proved nigh on impossible ( managed it once) We noticed a lot of people would sit there for hours on end reading their books or tapping on their laptops and not drinking tea or coffee, ( why didn't they just use in the library?) We made use of the Baico ' takeaway' counter and headed back to our cabin balcony. The ' star' of the ship is Captain Leo, the ' voice from above' ...he ended is daily briefing with .....life is beautiful! How right he is.We visited so many wonderful places, Bruges, Copenhagen, Stockholm , Tallinn, St Petersburg and Warnemunde( a lovely seaside town in Germany , never heard of it before but as our last 'Port of Call ' it was a perfect end to a wonderful cruise holiday. We were so impressed with Celebrity we have booked another cruise for next year, on the Constellation. This was the first proper cruise I had taken. Went with sister to celebrate significant birthday. The attraction was the 3 day stay in St Petersburg and the reasonable price of the trip. Read a number of reviews beforehand as we didn't know what to expect. We took the classic drinks package - which was more than sufficient. Covers all drinks - soft and alcoholic up to $11. Some wine and cocktails and premium spirits came out more expensive and you just pay the extra. All prices are on the menu so you can see at a glance. There are speciality restaurants for which you pay a cover charge but we ate either in the ocean bar cafe or main restaurant and overall the food was superb. Plenty of choice . There were many deals eg. 50% discount on the speciality restaurants as they seemed to struggle to fill them. The feedback we got from fellow guests who did sample them was excellent. I had heard horror stories about embarkation/ disembarkation on celebrity but this has been staggered and I thought it was well run - regular cruisers may disagree. The ship was immaculate and the staff generally very helpful. For St Petersburg we opted for a 3 day local tour (only 16 people) with SPB tours - which was superb- talking to guests who took ships tours the feed back ranged from lukewarm to terrible. As we had an onboard spend we took celebrity tours in Brugge and Rostock. They were okay but bear in mind on a bus of 44 people the pace was slow. For Stockholm, Tallin and Copenhagen we did it ourselves either via the hop on hop off or shuttle buses both operate from the port side and are very easy to find - for the shuttle bus there is now a charge of approx $10 - apparently this used to be free. The other biggie to mention is onboard entertainment. A couple of the acts were fabulous a couple weaker and some down right awful. The ships troupe shows were very hit and miss , all had everybody really confused re any storyline and the last night show looked like something you might put on at high school. The exception was the aerial acrobatics which were superb every time. Overall we really enjoyed the activities on sea days and were never bored but many veteran cruisers we spoke to were unimpressed but both the volume, quality and range of activities. But speak as you find. The silent disco was fantastic and please try it if you never have before. They was a good age range on board and we met some truly wonderful people who we are going to stay in touch with. Everybody was so friendly. Despite the very minor negatives (I know it sounds as if we thought the cruise moderate but we really loved it and bear in mind some of this info is anecdotal but I thought it only fair to include it) this was a fantastic experience, good value for money and we will definitely be cruising again. Thank you to all those who made this trip so memorable. Read Less

Had back to back cruises and the last one was Cleberty Eclipse.  The staff on the ship, I meen the servers, wait staff and cabin staff were top shelf. They are the most friendly people you will ever meet.  The food was also above and beyond.  Had a filete on another ship in the upscale dining and it didn't compaire to the Beef Wellington we had in the regular dining room and there was no comparison.  I could cut the meat with a fork.  The other shipot so much.  The maitre d' took care of us with our any time dining and we had the same table every night because of her.  Our waiter, assistant waiter and wine stweard were impecable and really contributed to our cruise enjoyment.  Thank you staff! Our cabin stewards had our room in top shape and saw him only when we needed him.  Again fabulous! Common rooms were very comfortable and the ship entertainment was better the the usual ship shows.  The featured singers were very talented. Read Less

We always wanted to go on a 2 week cruise, Celebrity Eclipse had just the cruise we were seeking. We have been a loyal Norwegian cruisers for many years, Not any more From the time we got on board to the time we departed, it was all very special. We have never experienced the personal attention given to us by all the crew. The cleanliness of the ship, our cabin attendant, the wait staff, the lounge staff, guest relations staff and of course the Officers, made our time on board feel like we were Royalty and that is not an exaggeration. I do recall many of the names of the crew, but I will not list them here, since there are so many. The entertainment was superb, the food was outstanding along with the servers. There are so many items to point out, that I would take up a lot of space, however I would be remiss if I did not mention the Adults only pool area.. To sum it up, Kudos, Kudos, Kudos to CELEBRITY CRUISE LINE!!! Thank you again for a wonderful cruise, Dave Scanlan Read Less

This was our last cruise as Select members of Captains Club...next cruise we're Elite. I'm really impressed with Celebrity. We have cruised on almost a dozen lines and both of us conclude that Celebrity offers the best value of any other. Some things have disappeared or been minimized...but when did that come as a surprised to any consumer? The Eclipse is a lovely ship well maintained by a crew that takes pride in their ship. It is obvious that the crew work as a team, which greatly benefits its' passengers. The ports were varied and provided enough variety. With 2 sea days at both the beginning and end of the cruise, passengers had an excellent chance to recharge drained batteries. We began each day with an energetic 2 mile walk on the track followed by breakfast selected in the buffet but eaten in the far rear of the buffet in a rather nice open air setting. Breakfast selection was excellent...anything you could reasonably think of. Fresh fruit was especially tasty. We often had lunch in the Aqua Spa café. Portion control was evident and food choices were all tasty. Custom made salads with lovely ingredients. They also make smoothies here. The setting for eating lunch here could have been improved. Kind of crowded with poor views. We had most dinners in the main dining room. This room is on 2 levels...the lower level for fixed dining and the upper level for guests who chose the "select" dining option...(us). So let me begin by saying that when you are on the upper level and look outward then downward to the floor below, you see probably 500-700 people all eating at the same time. That Celebrity can get hot meals delivered as ordered to that many guests, with the bonus of servers who are both efficient and friendly is a tribute to their Corporation. In terms of the main dining room, there are 2 areas that can use improvement. Firstly if you choose 7:15 as your preferred time, you are in a very popular time slot, and if you are in a party of 4 or more, you are liable to be in for a lengthy delay for your table. One night 6 of us waited almost an hour although mostly it was a 15 or 20 minute wait. Secondly, the nightly menus on the first 10 days or more were pedestrian rather than inspiring with choices that rarely got the glands salivating. I did notice some deterioration on this regard compared to previous Celebrity cruises. On the last 2 or 3 nights, the more sought after entries such as lamb chops, lobster tail, etc. all appeared on the same nights menu. It seems that Celebrity chose to have passengers leave the ship with pleasant recent memories of this dining room rather than spread those dishes out on the menus throughout the cruise. To be fair, menu choices, service, food quality and the decor of the dining room would probably see you receive a $200. plus bill plus gratuity in restaurants on land. We opted for the classic beverage package, so wine was included, and while not memorable, was generously poured. That $200. tab ashore would quickly escalate for thirsty folks. One last word on the menu...although I only had (room for) desert about half of the time, I really enjoyed the apple pie with frozen yogurt rather than ice cream. Delicious. Entertainment...In a few words...far above my expectations. Jane Curry was absolutely outstanding. Calculate what an evening by a performer of her caliber in New York together with dinner in a restaurant such as I have described above would cost there. I recently visited New York...it's a costly place. Comedians, and other entertainers were also very good...and if they didn't suit us...we just left. No harm, no foul. The musicians around the pool and in the ship's lounges was generally too loud and unentertaining. They did have one evening of ABBA mania in one of the upstairs bars which was very well attended and was met with energetic passengers. Where is ABBA now that we need them again? Ok so that covers most of the points I wanted to mention. A product well delivered by a company that clearly knows their business. Unfortunately, I have to leave the worst for last. Getting your luggage at the Port of Miami at the end of the cruise is a horror show. Plain and simple, if you can disembark as a walk off and take your luggage with you...do it. Hope you enjoy your cruise as much as we did. We may see you aboard next year at the same time...we booked it prior to leaving the ship. Read Less

Loved the ship & crew, itinerary, food; the entertainment was excellent. Captain Leo, Eddie the cruise director w/Baldo his associate - wonderful people! This is definitely a cruise for adults; there were hardly any children on board. There were many daily activities, expert talks, etc. My husband really enjoyed the Rich, the technology expert on board. We met him two years ago on the Equinox and learned so much. They also have a glass blowing exposition up on the top deck. They did several demonstrations, and held a charity auction at the end of the cruise. Different strokes for different folks, but we had no problem finding things that we enjoyed. Love the evening chic dress option. Ate entirely in the main dining room for dinner, and the buffet for breakfast and lunch. We were very pleased with the variety of food, and the premium beverage package worked great for us. We thought the entertainment on Celebrity was excellent. Lots of different options. We especially enjoyed the Beatles cover band, called "Hard Day's Night". In summary, we prefer to cruise with Celebrity and the Eclipse is a great ship. I can wholeheartedly recommend this ship and cruise line. Read Less

Just got off a two week cruise to the Caribbean on Celebrity Eclipse. We love Celebrity and have taken pver 30 criises. The ship was the best as far as personnel amd entertainment. Captain Leo was amazing - extremely personable, great sense of humor and extremely visible throughout the ship. He even played Liar's Club and was great. Eddy, the cruise director, was the best we have ever had. Great humor, very visible and was always talking with one of the guests. The entertainment was the best we have ever had!! The 3 production shows were incredible. The entertainers were excellent and we saw a wide range as f talent and venies. The band was terrific as were the musicians who played thruout the ship. The crew was extremely friendly and helpful. We have done this itinerary 5 times, so decided to book tours. We do them off the ship to have fewer people and save some money. The 2 tours that were the best were Harrison Caves in Barbados and Cosol tours in St Lucia which was fabulous. Next time, we will just wonder around town or go to a beach. The time went by so fast that we wished we had another 2 days at sea. Looking forward to our next vacation..... Read Less

We chose this cruise because Celebrity Cruises is our preferred cruise line. We have been on Eclipse and it's sister ships many, many times and absolutely love them.this time was no exception. We usually cruise the Caribbean in January and although we go for the weather and know most of the islands very well,it's life onboard that we really love. The food and the entertainment were very good, and as my husband and I love dancing that plays a big part of our enjoyment onboard.the music on this trip was exceptional and really made the trip even better. Our stateroom was as usual very good although we were lower than normal(deck 7) but that was no problem, and our stateroom attendant was very accommodating and brought whatever we wanted. We went to all three of the speciality restaurants and they we excellent, especially Quisine which was particularly good and very different. Also the food in the main dining room was very good as was the service.altogether making it a wonderful time. We have already booked for next year on Sillouette and can't wait. Read Less

What I call the "deep Caribbean" is our favorite because you miss so many of the overcrowded islands. We tend to stay with the Eclipse because of the staff and cruise directors. In fact, we did the crossing in October, with our favorite cruise director, Sue Denning. We were delighted to find that one of our favorite "Beyond the Podium" speaker was also on not only the crossing but the January cruise. We do enjoy the entire series, with so many experts in their field. Gid Pool was on the crossing and again in January talking about comedy. He also did his comedy show both cruises which was hysterical! We had hoped he would have been at night in the main showroom but they put him in the middle of the afternoon, in Celebrity Central. If you are ever on one of his cruises, don't miss him. We enjoy the itinerary but next year we will pick one that overnights in Aruba and not Curacao. There wasn't much to do at night in the port. We hope that in Aruba we can hit the nightlife at the hotels. Barbados is a gem! We went to the fish fry place, via taxi. Total local and totally good. St. Lucia is getting better. There is a new bar by the pier and another that now has entertainment. We went downtown to a restaurant that was upstairs overlooking the water but left when we couldn't get waited on. Suggestion for that stop, stay close to the ship. St. Kitts is growing like crazy. A new food court is being build that we were told would feature local food. I hope it is ready for next year. We took the train excursion offered by the ship. It's a not to be missed trip. The scenery is overwhelming. St. Maarten is....well... St. Maarten. Too many ships, too any people. Can't wait until next year! Read Less

The reason I chose this cruise was partly because we are both first timers to cruising and the entertainment was our favourite bands and artistes from the 1960's. My mother is not a fan of the water and has only travelled on ferries and hovercrafts previously and sometimes the journeys have been very rough. On cruise ships of this size however you would not even know you were moving. Everything about the ship was luxurious and the customer service second to none. Food and drink was plentiful and we took advantage of the Spa by way of facials and manicures. Our deluxe ocean view state room with veranda was luxurious. Hygiene and security were top priorities and everyone was made to feel special regardless of the accommodation they occupied. This ship was first class all the way, with casinos, shops, bars, eating experiences to suit all tastes, entertainment and various shore excursions. There was something to do 24 hours a day if you wished or you could just sit back and relax. Staff were always on hand to assist and nothing was too much trouble. Real grass for boules or golf, 24 hour library and a Card/Games room. To anyone unsure about cruises do not hesitate book it now. Read Less
