We have cruised on Celebrity for more than 10 years. The crew is second to none. This time it seemed way more crowded, with a rushed itinerary, and the cruise director was to over the top. His daily announcements were almost 15 minutes long, the on board entertainment was OK most nights, the best was the live music in the smaller lounges. The main dinning room is FANTASTIC. The cabins and verandas are very nice. Celebrity does have the embarkation and disembarkation down to a science, works very well. While Celebrity’s cruise prices seem to continue to increase, in addition to these increases, In my opinion Celebrity is trying to identify ways to add fees and charges of all types. In port shuttle buses, that used to be included, now there is a charge. Up-charges on drink packages like at the martini bar, 3 bucks more for a larger martini, really why not just get two smaller ones. And everyone of these up-charge slips provide a line for an additional tip. And specialty restaurant are only a fare deal on the first day of the cruise when they are discounted by 30%. In port excursions, in the daily flyer, Celebrity creates the impression the only Hop on Hop off bus is available only at guest relations, all one need do is get off the ship and you can find the same hop on hop off bus at a lower price than Celebrity. So after 10 years of loyalty, i think for our next cruise vacation, we may need to shop around. Read Less

We sailed from Amsterdamin in June and the itinerary was one of the most interesting we have done. This is our 5th cruise on Celebrity and our 14th cruise overall. As usual, the ship, the crew and the food and entertainment were all excellent. We were part of a large group and our travel agent had arranged for private tours in all ports except for Germany and Holland. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience on our tours. While the two full tour days in St. Petersburg were pricey, they included lunch on both days and were well worth the expense. Our tour guide, Elena, of Baltic City Breaks was our guide for the two days we spent in Russia. She was absolutely outstanding. In addition, Elena helped arrange for the other private tours in our other ports of call with the exception of Amsterdam where we spent two extra days after the cruise touring on our own. All the guides were exceptional and spoke excellent English. Our one negative experience on this cruise was one I had never experienced before in any of our previous cruises. Hopefully it was only with the individual who dealt with me and not a general approach by Celebrity. As is our usual practice, we do not participate in automatic gratuities, preferring always to provide the recommended tip directly to the crew member who made our cruise experience a great one - our room attendant, our wait staff in the dining room, bar servers and any others who we feel went above and beyond. When I went to Guest Relations to have the automatic gratuities removed from our account, I was asked to sign a book that recorded our cabin number - I have never had that happen before. In addition, to my surprise, two days before disembarkation we received envelopes in our cabin addressed to us with identified crew members who we should be tipping and the amount. Accompanying the envelopes was a card from the guest relations representative who I had dealt with. To say I was annoyed and taken aback at the arrogance of this is an understatement and left a very bad impression of how Celebrity chooses to treat their passengers who do not wish to adhere to their enforcement of gratuities. Since most of our friends had chosen to have their gratuities covered as their perk for this cruise, they did not have this “reminder” given to them. Gratuities are by our understanding, a means of showing appreciation and thanks for exceptional services. We have no problem with doing so and do it often but we were offended by the approach by this particular guest relations representative which unfortunately tainted our impression of an otherwise great cruise. We enjoyed our 1st cruise with Celebrity cruise and wanted to visit Russia for our 44th Anniversary for 2nd time with Celebrity. We enjoyed the cruise again. The service we received by Valentine in the dinning room was excellent and memorable. He has been very polite, helpful and make an effort to accommodate his guests. He respected our choice and remembers each night our likes and dislikes. This applies to his assistance Kate and Sue our cabin attendant. The entertainment is well thought and to accommodate variable needs. The quality and choices was very good. The cruise staff are all polite and helpful and ready to help regardless their status. The excursion has been valuable and tour guide is full of knowledge and gave us her unreserved attention. However, it has been too expensive in comparison to other similar excursions. The ship is beautiful and well maintained with good facilities. The guests are always well informed and able to plan their activity accordingly. Read Less

This is our fourth cruise on Celebrity. We wanted to see St Petersburg so had a three day tour with SPB which I would highly recommend. It our was so nice to be in a small group and the guide,Lena, was excellent. We did not eat in specialty restaurants because we found the meals excellent in the dining room and the choices in the buffet exceptional. I did not care for some of the jazz and the singer Lauren who sang in the main foyer. As the average age was probably 70, music should be geared to that age group. Two of the shows in the Theater were too loud and because the songs were not familiar, you could not understand the words. Maybe I should change to a Holland America! My main complaint with Celebrity is that they will not put Bridge games in the daily bulletin. They put it on the bulletin board by Guest Services - 10am - 2pm. In the card room. There is no sign up sheet, cards or score cards. No one wants to play for four hours and it is not drop in because you have to be there at 10 am if you want to get a partner. A lady whose husband had brought her in a wheelchair did not find a partner. Many handicapped people can not play the physical games which are organized by the staff. Cards are available at Guest Services. I have complained about this issue to Celebrity but they said that since it is not organized by the ship, it can not be put in the bulletin and yet other groups not organized by the ship are in the bulletin. There are Bridge Cruises but who wants to play Bridge all day? There were 350 children on board and because of the excellent kids programs, you hardly noticed them. All in all, a wonderful cruise with wonderful ports. The service and food were excellent. Read Less

first time with celebrity and with the exception of the entertainment it was a great experience. embarkation was very smooth straight on board and cabins were ready, the safety video was a bit odd but it did get the point across. food was very good in the main restaurant and the ocean view self service restaurant you would have to be very fussy not to find something you enjoy. the café al bacio was one of my favourite places to chill. , we used room service a couple of times and apart from hot breakfast food this was also very good The staff in all areas were very polite and attentive you were never left with an empty glass for very long. The dress code is very relaxed my husband loved it I was a bit disappointed as I enjoy a couple of nights getting dressed up and although some did the emphasis was definitely smart casual even on chic nights. It was a struggle on sea days particularly when the weather was not so good to find a seat to sit and read so we spent a lot of time in our cabin which had a balcony so was not too much of a hardship. we had cabin 6216 which was great not too far from the lifts and centrally located just a small amount of noise occasionally from the disco. the entertainment team is very small compared to other cruise lines and although what was delivered was good it was very sparse and brief eg line dancing consisted of three songs, the acts in the theatre had no supporting acts so only lasted about 45 minutes. the sail away parties were non existent really just a bit of music, even the 4th of July was a bit of anti climax a few red, white and blue ribbons and a lovely cake. the shore excursions although expensive were well organised and the tour guides were all very knowledgeable . I enjoyed every port and did an organised trip I all of them. I wouldn't do an organised tour in Bruges again from speaking to other passengers they saw a lot more by getting on the bus right in front of the ship. the day and night trip in st Petersburg are amazing I wasn't sure about the night one but it was really spectacular. we met some lovely people the cruise was very good value for money and I got to see places on my bucket list. we will go with celebrity again if the destination and price is right but would consider other lines first a we enjoy a bit more entertainment . Very unsure about ' cruising' but wanted to visit St Petersburg and as this Celebrity Eclipse cruise was there for 2 nights and 3 days it ticked the main box.As we parked our car at the port and the service started we knew it was going to good.It was better than that , it was outstanding. The ship was amazing, immaculately clean, it sparkled. The food was impressive, we ate in the MDR for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was varied, delicious and hot. We did meet up with friends once in theTuscan Grill, and it too was excellent but the MDR quality and service compared very favourably.Only had 1 buffet meal ( late up and the MDR had closed at 8.30am , because of early excursions) but I do like a cloth on our table and prefer waiter service when on holiday, I was also put off by the amount of food some people had piled on to their plates, one man walked past me with enough food on his plate to feed 4 people! I popped in once or twice during the day to get an iced tea and was stunned by the amount of food people were tucking in to.Our C1 cabin at the stern was excellent, and was kept clean and well serviced ( glad to have the long walk to it to help burn the calories) We enjoyed all the shows and got a great seat every night , no problem.Sue Denning works so hard to make sure everyone is informed with all the varied entertainment options that is available every day/night .We attended a few talks and presentations which we found interesting and entertaining. We loved the quiet corners with comfortable armchairs where we could sit and relax and ' people watch' , we would have liked to enjoy the Cafe Baico but getting a seat there proved nigh on impossible ( managed it once) We noticed a lot of people would sit there for hours on end reading their books or tapping on their laptops and not drinking tea or coffee, ( why didn't they just use in the library?) We made use of the Baico ' takeaway' counter and headed back to our cabin balcony. The ' star' of the ship is Captain Leo, the ' voice from above' ...he ended is daily briefing with .....life is beautiful! How right he is.We visited so many wonderful places, Bruges, Copenhagen, Stockholm , Tallinn, St Petersburg and Warnemunde( a lovely seaside town in Germany , never heard of it before but as our last 'Port of Call ' it was a perfect end to a wonderful cruise holiday. We were so impressed with Celebrity we have booked another cruise for next year, on the Constellation. This was the first proper cruise I had taken. Went with sister to celebrate significant birthday. The attraction was the 3 day stay in St Petersburg and the reasonable price of the trip. Read a number of reviews beforehand as we didn't know what to expect. We took the classic drinks package - which was more than sufficient. Covers all drinks - soft and alcoholic up to $11. Some wine and cocktails and premium spirits came out more expensive and you just pay the extra. All prices are on the menu so you can see at a glance. There are speciality restaurants for which you pay a cover charge but we ate either in the ocean bar cafe or main restaurant and overall the food was superb. Plenty of choice . There were many deals eg. 50% discount on the speciality restaurants as they seemed to struggle to fill them. The feedback we got from fellow guests who did sample them was excellent. I had heard horror stories about embarkation/ disembarkation on celebrity but this has been staggered and I thought it was well run - regular cruisers may disagree. The ship was immaculate and the staff generally very helpful. For St Petersburg we opted for a 3 day local tour (only 16 people) with SPB tours - which was superb- talking to guests who took ships tours the feed back ranged from lukewarm to terrible. As we had an onboard spend we took celebrity tours in Brugge and Rostock. They were okay but bear in mind on a bus of 44 people the pace was slow. For Stockholm, Tallin and Copenhagen we did it ourselves either via the hop on hop off or shuttle buses both operate from the port side and are very easy to find - for the shuttle bus there is now a charge of approx $10 - apparently this used to be free. The other biggie to mention is onboard entertainment. A couple of the acts were fabulous a couple weaker and some down right awful. The ships troupe shows were very hit and miss , all had everybody really confused re any storyline and the last night show looked like something you might put on at high school. The exception was the aerial acrobatics which were superb every time. Overall we really enjoyed the activities on sea days and were never bored but many veteran cruisers we spoke to were unimpressed but both the volume, quality and range of activities. But speak as you find. The silent disco was fantastic and please try it if you never have before. They was a good age range on board and we met some truly wonderful people who we are going to stay in touch with. Everybody was so friendly. Despite the very minor negatives (I know it sounds as if we thought the cruise moderate but we really loved it and bear in mind some of this info is anecdotal but I thought it only fair to include it) this was a fantastic experience, good value for money and we will definitely be cruising again. Thank you to all those who made this trip so memorable. Read Less

Had back to back cruises and the last one was Cleberty Eclipse.  The staff on the ship, I meen the servers, wait staff and cabin staff were top shelf. They are the most friendly people you will ever meet.  The food was also above and beyond.  Had a filete on another ship in the upscale dining and it didn't compaire to the Beef Wellington we had in the regular dining room and there was no comparison.  I could cut the meat with a fork.  The other shipot so much.  The maitre d' took care of us with our any time dining and we had the same table every night because of her.  Our waiter, assistant waiter and wine stweard were impecable and really contributed to our cruise enjoyment.  Thank you staff! Our cabin stewards had our room in top shape and saw him only when we needed him.  Again fabulous! Common rooms were very comfortable and the ship entertainment was better the the usual ship shows.  The featured singers were very talented. Read Less
