I would recommend this cruise for anyone who likes an adventure...from the ports to the weather, this cruise was unique for us.
Highlights
- Beautiful scenery and history.
- Prebook Guiness tour in Dublin...less expense and saves a lot of time. Great tour...highly recommend.
- We really enjoyed the small towns. Akureyri, while small, was easy to get off and walk around. Lerwick, ...
We have been on approximately 25 cruises on maybe 7 different cruise lines, but never on Celebrity before our cruise to Iceland from Dublin. It was the itinerary that attracted us and Dublin and Iceland did not disappoint.
Prior to the cruise we were advised not to come to the pier for embarkation until 4:30. we spent the day touring Dublin, and we were lucky enough to have made a ...
Bucket - List trip to Iceland, with Ireland and Scotland thrown in.
One issue to start out with was embarkation and debarkation in Dublin. This was the first time any big ship did a turn-around, so it was chaotic. As with any firsts, lessons must be learned. None of the taxis taking us to the port knew where to go or how to get in. But this was done in true Celebrity style. Getting off the ...
We flew to Dublin for a 2 day pre-cruise stay and had a wonderful time. The taxi to the port for embarkation cost around 20 dollars for the late departure. We had never been on a cruise which left so late but it was nice to have another full day in Dublin. The Muster drill at 8:30 pm was a little unorganized and seemed to take forever but it was most likely because passengers tend to NOT cooperate ...
I wanted to see Iceland and everything Celebrity has been a disappointment.i am finished with ocean cruising. The queues for excursions are poorly done, while the staff openly praise themselves for a job well done.. Yesterday’s excursion left at 5pm instead of 330 and was supposed to be 8 hours. Our last stop was in the dark. Got back to the ship at midnight. Today Ring of Fire excursion took us ...
The process getting on the boat was long, unorganized and confusing. The process getting off the boat was also very unorganized especially since the announcement giving permission to leave the boat never were announced to be heard in the cabin until the people lining up was so long. Disembarking was a total nightmare that was not organized at all, it took more than 45 minutes to get off.
The ...
We had always wanted to see Iceland and saw this itinerary while aboard Eclipse in the Caribbean. So glad that we did! The weather was quite cold and wet -- this is Iceland, people -- but the scenery was amazing. We even got above the Arctic Circle. Loved the ports in Shetland, Cork and Belfast. We took Celebrity excursions in each port and are glad we did. Especially when our ship was late ...
Chosen for the destination ports. The ports (Ireland, Iceland, Shetlands) did not disappoint, but some aspects of ship life were inadequate, particularly the main dining experience. Having travelled on several cruise lines, we found the quality of food well below expectations. Menu choices were repetitive and limited, portions were minute and far from gourmet. At best, you could say it compared ...
Summary
A nice but not particularly great cruise. Celebrity has some major problems on what could be a great ship. Our key issues were:
1) FOOD
Meal times are what you should look forward to on a cruise. They should be special, but too much on this ship is poor motorway/pub food (the buffet) or just over cooked or poor quality. The best place on board of is Murano and Sushi on 5, ...
Booked the B2B Baltic/ Fjord cruises 8/13 and 8/26 because of the itinerary and Celebrity experience. Embarkation was easy peasy and by booking a Sky Suite we were able to board early and enloy lunch in the Lumanai restaurant. The Lumanai was our most favorite perk for booking a Suite and we highly recommend doing so if you can swing it.As expected service was over the top and loved the fact in ...
