Having sailed with Celebrity since the inaugural on Mercury, and reached elite status over the years, this was an eye opener as to what one can expect nowadays This, our second cruise on this ship where standards have fallen sharply, and in places the ship looked very tired.(stained carpets, chair seating, and not the usual amount of cleaning of the stairways.Quality of food in the MDR was a real shock. To get the choice and quality once standard in the MDR,you now have to pay extra and dine in one of the other Resturants,so it is not as though better quality food is not onboard, just that you have to pay extra to enjoy it,also you are able to dine at tables without other diners sat almost on your lap from adjoining tables. The MDR on this ship now functions like a works canteen, where the noise level means everyone raises their voice to be heard, although the waiters and their assistants do a grand job in what must be very difficult circumstances. Why on earth do they have to play music to which no one listens, and just adds to the overall noise level.!!! There are not many things now that the company does not require extra payment for. Your cruise fare no longer represents your largest expense as everything onboard can soon put that in the shade. We have revisited a line that we had not been with for some years, change 's are made in all walks of life, but our overall impression of this line is not to think of it as a Premium Product anymore, just another mass market operation.   Read Less

Celebrity Constellation – Sailing date 19th October 2018 Having booked several Celebrity cruises over last 4 years we decided we will never cruise with Celebrity again. Let me explain why. The good Without a shadow of a doubt, the best thing about Celebrity (with a few exceptions) is its very hardworking and dedicated staff. The bad (1) The food on Celebrity used to be oh so good – a real dining experience in the evenings and a good range of choice in the buffet. The food in the dining room is still reasonable but the menus have not changed in years, anybody with a half decent memory will remember what they are going to be fed for dinner without any need to go and have a look at the menu. Costs have been cut and apart from the gala evenings the evening meal is no longer an event to look forward to. (2) The food in buffet restaurant has gone downhill dramatically. It was never of the standard found on Princess, but now resembles canteen food. You will be offered an array of cheap cream based cakes that are full of sugar but have no taste. If you like refried beans and chilli, you will be laughing as they are on the buffet every day. The choice of dishes is in fact, almost the same every day. The so called themed buffets lack any imagination or quality. Breakfast is also exactly the same every day. The “eggs benedict” is tasteless with the sauce cooked en masse. The choice of cold cuts is limited to the cheapest of the cheap, the kind you would find in a two star hotel. Five star modern luxury – yeah right. (3) The entertainment is extremely poor with the same old tired acts that you have seen on all your previous cruises. The on board musical acts are dreadfully dull and stuck in the past. The music played in the buffet is depressingly dull (4) Onboard activities are all based on extracting as many dollars as possible out of the pockets of their customers The ugly We experienced some very bad weather on the last three days of our cruise and the way Celebrity handled the situation was inexcusable. Be very clear that unless you have booked your flights and hotel through Celebrity, you are on your own. We were scheduled to visit Portofino and Florence , however due to impending bad weather the decision had been taken by the captain to sail instead to La Spezia to ensure the safety and well being ??? of its customers and crew. Be very clear that when this decision was taken, waters were still calm and relocating to calmer waters should have been a clear possibility ( an issue we raised with Celebrity but one they did not address) By sailing to La Spezia it enabled Celebrity (by their own admission) to go ahead with the numerous overpriced shore excursions many of their customers had paid for, ensuring this corporation did not lose what would have amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars. However those of us that wanted to make individual arrangements were left with a TOTAL OF NOTHING. No transport was laid on to take us to our original ports of call - when enquiring at customer relations desk staff became unpleasant, confrontational and plain dismissive. The weather in La Spezia became so bad that the town got flooded and was closed, making it impossible for the independent passenger to go anywhere. The mooring ropes on the ship broke, resulting in us drifting away from the pier and colliding with another cruise liner. The ship eventually left La Spezia many hours late as the prevailing weather conditions were so bad that it was impossible to leave at the scheduled time or for many hours after, a fact that Celebrity should surely have been aware of. We arrived back in Rome at 3pm – nine hours late. During this time the level of communication from Celebrity was shamefully poor ranging on non existent. When the Captain did eventually come on the public address system to explain the situation, the ships entertainments officer came on the public address system immediately afterwards and repeated word for word exactly what the captain had said, I will leave you to draw your own conclusions on that. Many, many people missed their flights home and as previously stated unless you booked your flight through Celebrity themselves you were on your own with very limited access to wifi to try to get flights re-booked, hotels booked etc. This review has been delayed as we wrote to Celebrity seeking answers twice and twice waited an eternity to receive what resembled in our opinion a “copy and paste job”, notably with spelling mistakes - please do not think me petty but this shows, in my opinion, how little Celebrity think of us, mugs that pay into their profit when the chips are down. We asked why we had effectively been taken into the eye of a viscous storm instead of being sailed out to calmer waters in Spain. Their response was “they acted in the best interests of the passengers and crew” We believe as a group that their main interest was in the money they would have lost had they had to refund the cost of all those pre booked excursions. The response from their customer service team was most unhelpful, refusing to answer many of the issues we raised. In our communications with celebrity we asked that our concerns be passed on to and responded to by a Senior Manager – this request was ignored. We asked about compensation for our lost three days and were told that their senior management team had taken the decision not to pay any customer compensation. In short, they had badly let down their customers and appointed themselves judge and jury on whether compensation would be paid. Is there no independent body that rules whether compensation will be paid, based on a situation like this? Perhaps somebody out there can enlighten me ? Needless to say we will never cruise with Celebrity again. The standard of the food has slipped alarmingly, the entertainment lacks any real imagination or flair. Onboard activities are all about extracting your hard earned cash. However the most unforgivable thing is that they had a clear opportunity to do the right thing in a difficult situation and treat everybody equally not just those who could afford their overpriced tours or had booked their flights and hotels through them, but based on all the evidence to hand, decided instead to chase the dollar and their own corporate interests. Finally and very importantly the shambles that was the disembarkation in Rome, having arrived there so late. Passengers were understandably looking to leave the ship as quickly as possible, many in a last ditch attempt to make their flights home. The organisation from Celebrity was woeful. There was not even a semblance of any kind of crowd control. People were pushing and shoving and multiple different queues were forming. Celebrity placed the blame for the further delay in disembarking, after docking, squarely on the shoulders of the Italian authorities. As passengers continued to wait and wait to disembark, tempers became frayed, but not only among passengers but staff members who were doing such a poor job of organising the disembarkation also started to become rude when asked how much longer the commencement of disembarkation would take. Based on this experience, one could not help but reflect on what might happen if there were a real emergency on board this ship, making the decision never to travel with Celebrity again a very straightforward one. One would imagine that Celebrity held an in depth investigation into the events of last few days of this sailing. Perhaps they should share the lessons learned with all those passengers who lost money and suffered unnecessary stress as a result of their extremely poor handling of the whole situation. It is quite astonishing that so few people have reviewed this debacle of a cruise but maybe after reading this fact based review more people might feel compelled to add their thoughts. Perhaps Celebrity take the view that people live busy lives and the majority of dissatisfied customers never quite find the time to write that critical review? Read Less

This cruise was part of a trip which combined a stay in Lake Garda and return journey on the Orient Express. We have travelled with Celebrity before and this was our worst ever cruise. The ship is extremely old and shabby. The staterooms are tired and in need of a complete refurbishment although they were clean. The tables are absolutely crammed together in the main dining room. The evening meal has the same core menu every evening, with a few variations to the beef, chicken and lamb dishes. The service, if you can call it that, is rushed and unprofessional. The pool areas are noisy with music blaring from 9am every morning there is a distinct lack of quiet areas. The excursions are extremely expensive and poor value for money. The standards have definitely dropped, this is not a 5* cruise. I will never sale with Celebrity again. This was part of an very expensive holiday and it certainly tainted the whole experience! We chose this cruise after hearing that Celebrity was one of the best lines and the itinerary looked great. Any notion of that ended quite quickly on this cruise. I will preface that I do not consider myself a picky traveler at all - I am overseas all the time for work and don’t require much. The issues started with one of our suitcases not arriving at the room and after a call to our cabin steward, being informed very rudely that I needed to fetch it from deck 1. Once I trekked down there, they handed me my bag (which was properly tagged) with no explanation. Only in the elevator did another guest explain that hers was held up due to having an electrical cord in it, so I am guessing my curling iron was the culprit but was never given any explanation or warning prior to packing that electric devices would be an issue. Then came the fun part... booked an excursion to Milan from Genoa which was downright horrid. The bus stopped at a rest area for 1/2 hour, shortening our time in the city significantly. The description included seeing Duomo and La Scala. 90 min into it, our long-winded and hard to understand guide (Daniela) had shown us a no parking sign and 2 “back alleys” and none of the sights. After viewing the back alley side of La Scala, we finally asked the Celebrity rep whether we could proceed to the church and she stated that we would only see it from the outside. If we had known in advance we could have easily got timed tickets ourselves online, but they would not disclose the agenda, preventing us from planning for ourselves to actually see the city. We broke off and crammed as much in on our own as we could in the limited time we were afforded, but disappointingly we barely scratched the surface of Milan thanks to all of the wasted time. I hoped this was an anomaly by at dinner we found our friends had a similar experience on their tour to Portofino - barely having time to see anything at all due to inept guides. We put on our game faces hoping for a better day in Rome, but alas, our bus stopped at the gate to the port for over 30 min (watching all the other buses from the Disney ship pass us by) to do some kind of personnel transfer. So underway an hour later for an already short day to try to take in a little of Rome. We will book on our own for the other ports and avoid anything related to Celebrity excursions. I will say that the food on the ship has been very good and there are some nice spaces. But the service at the bars and in the staterooms is nothing to write home about and definitely a few notches below Princess or Disney, our other cruise experiences. Disappointing for sure. Read Less

We have chosen this cruise because it was supposedly be a 5.5 stars however we were VERY DISAPPOINTED with Celebrity Constellation!!! 1st day upon our check, the room was dirty, with stains on the chairs. The telephone in our room was so filthy and sticky, that the buttons, as you pushed them down would get stack and not work. Disgusting!!! Our bathroom floor had a leak problem. While we were on a shore excursion, the mechanics came and supposedly fixed the problem. Upon our return to the ship, we have not seen any improvement with the floor but we were definitely missing my husbands unique knife from the bathroom. We contacted customer service regarding the missing item but nothing has been done about that. The common areas were not well maintained or well cleaned. While we were dining at the Seaside Cafe (Self Service), nobody would come and collect empty plates. We have observed this pretty much every time we have dined at the Seaside Cafe. We have witnessed other guests cleaning the plates from a table, as the staff was not available to do that. Our anniversary was never acknowledged, even though it was clearly mentioned in our documentation. Our last day was in Barcelona where we have arrived very early in the morning and our assigned check out/leaving the ship time was at 7:30am. Guests from some other rooms had to leave the ship at 7am!!!! That is unacceptable. I have never seen another cruise or a hotel which kicked out their guests so early. What about the poor elderly people who had an afternoon departure for overseas flight? What about the people who were transferring to a hotel in Barcelona? No hotel allows you to check in at that time in the morning!!!! After our check out we proceeded to collect our luggage at the carousel. When I have received my suitcase, the collapsible handle on my bag was not working due to a big dent into the suitcase. Someone must of smashed my bag very hard. After our cruise we were traveling through Europe and I had hard time transferring from place to place with my large bag without a working handle. There is plenty more I could write about our experiences during our sailing. About what was unacceptable and disappointing. I will just summarize it with a comment, that we are experienced travelers who are not very picky, however Celebrity Constellation is definitely NOT a 5* cruise. If I was generous, I would give them 3.5*. Read Less

Celebrity Constellation Cruise – Turkey, Greece, Croatia – 12 days This cruise was awful. The room was not up-to-date very old décor, most likely just repainted. No entertainment for cruise days, food was the same breakfast, lunch and dinner, tasteless. There was a 24-hour coffee but only one station opened and sometimes the coffee was cold or not made or no milk, cream and cups. Also the smoking area was very limited. There was no help when someone lost their luggage, always maybe the next day it will arrive. We had no luggage for the duration of the cruise and was offered 2 t-shirts and one toothbrush for 2 people. Every time you bent over you get charged for something. Nothing is free. This was our first and last on Celebrity. Read Less

Chose this trip to take my family, wife, 2 married children and 2 grandchildren on a Med cruise in August The ship is very tired There were too many passengers 2560 compared to the advertised capacity and no extra staff. Consequently bar service slow, public areas not cleaned to a high enough stand. Open dining arrangements a nightmare and when we had to use a tender service about a 1.25 hour wait!! That said the grandchildren (10 & 14) had a fabulous time so therefore their parents could also enjoy their holiday. I had no expectations so in that respect I was not disappointed Fortunately, on day 2 we bumped into the captain and hotel manager who asked if everything was ok. After explaining the dining experience the hotel manager made a couple of calls and our situation was satisfactorily resolved. Also my daughter used to see him in the gym and he repeatedly asked if things were ok. We received a complimentary meal in one of the specialty restaurants Read Less

This was our third cruise with Celebrity. It was a disappointment at all levels . It was a big step down from our experience from two years ago with Celebrity Equinox. This was a Mediterranean cruise . It was no entertainment on deck in the evening. It was no fitness or other outdoor activities like the previous Celebrity cruise. It was a lack of service and amenities. It was also a big disappointment in food quality and diversity . Food that we enjoyed at the buffet in the past now we had to go to special restaurants and pay extra. My husband and I had classic beverage packege but to get your cappuccino you had to go to the 5 th floor from 10th floor in order to get it . It was no cappuccino machine at any outdoor bars and any other indoor bars except the 5 th floor. People who catered to us were great but not to many of them ... CELEBRITY CONSTELLATION – NOT A 5 STAR SHIP We have just returned from a 14n (back to back) cruise on the Celebrity Constellation. We have been great fans of the Celebrity product in the past and have been on Constellation before, but both the ship and some of the staff, are in need of a serious shake-up. Torn and tatty bed linen, bathrooms with rust and filthy, stained tiling, grey torn deck towels that you wouldn’t buy in a jumble sale and sun beds that are rusty and broken are just not acceptable. Very young children( 3,7,8yrs) in the whirlpool late at night, totally unsupervised. Staff knew of this and chose not to approach the parents. A lack of drinks service on some of the sun decks led to large queues at the bars and much frustration. The dress code, always a contentious issue, was constantly flouted. A bare chested man in swimming trunks being served at the Martini bar on a ‘chic night’ is just not acceptable when most people have gone to a lot of trouble to look smart. Swimwear and foul language in the ‘elite party’ is not what guests want, particularly when the guests were not in the elite club– neither occurrence was challenged by the staff. On chic night, we dined in one speciality restaurant, quisine. With the managers approval, one guest wore swimwear and a baseball cap! Celebrity want to attract repeat customers so the logic of offering virtually identical (not particularly good) entertainment on the two successive 7n cruises is a real let down. The shows, although of a good standard, are primarily aimed at the American audience. It would be great to see the Broadway show reintroduced as it appeals to all nationalities and all ages. Surely it should be possible to at least change the menu weekly in the San Marco dining room to accommodate back to back cruisers.A noisy cabin (a vibrating headboard from the engine noise) required us to sleep in an inside cabin for several nights. we were then disturbed by 30 luggage trolleys being very noisily moved for 2 hours in the middle of the night. Despite booking and paying for an outside cabin we were only given $100 obs in compensation. Nowhere near the real difference in the cost of cabins. This Level of compensation and falling standards in everyway has ensured that we have felt more like commodities than valued customers. We have cancelled other cruises booked for 2019 on Celebrity Constellation and will look to other lines for a 5 star product. Wake up Celebrity as other passengers will be voting with their feet too. The 3 lonely stars of this ship are Gabriella( housekeeping) Thomas and Marko( cellar masters) thank you guys for all you did to help make our holiday better than it would otherwise have been. I chose this specific cruise for the itinerary, and chose this line because I've cruised on Celebrity before and it was wonderful. There are similar cruises for much less, but I decided to go with Celebrity due to our previous experience. I do not drink alcohol and was forced to buy a "water" package, as the water in our room, and at the buffet was brown. The service was about the worst I've ever received anywhere and I'm including any travel any where in the world on land or sea. I had to get my bottled water at the bars-my average wait time was 15 minutes and this was even if there was only one person sitting at the bar. This was consistent, every time. This lack of service was the same for our traveling companions, one of which only drinks beer, not a mixed drink. How difficult is it to hand you a bottle of beer or water. And heaven forbid I ask for 2 bottles of water at the same time!!! The bartenders will not make eye contact (they appear to be trained to do this, since it is at every bar, unless you are very young and wearing a low cut dress or bikini) and the only way to get their attention is either by banging your hand on the bar or yelling, either of which is not my style. I'm a vegan, again chose this cruise because I was assured they could accommodate my diet. They did not. The Spa Cafe staff was incredibly rude, with the exception of my last day. Another complaint I have is that I paid for my water, I don't drink soda, and they charged me for a stinking smoothie. Over $6000 for the cruise, another $200 for WATER, and I had to pay for a smoothie. We had a massage at the spa which triggered my husband's sciatica which was fine and had been for the last 2 years. Next day he was taken by wheelchair to Medical for treatment (which was the only decent department on the cruise) as he could not stand. Spa denied any responsibility, they reimbursed his massage, but not his medical expenses. Again, poor customer service, why not go the extra mile instead of arguing with us? The internet service, for which I paid, was abysmal. We could not wait to get off this ship. We I came home there was article in Forbes that Celebrity is redoing this, among other ships. I will not be cruising with this line again. I've booked my next cruise on Uniworld. Due to either an excursion or my husband being in bed, (he also had GI problems from the food) we did not make our meal seating until the last day, and this was not well received. We were told to "go downstairs" where we were given a table by the entrance, again food bad (who burns gnocchi?) waiter clearly annoyed when we came in at 8pm. At the end of the substandard meal, I had to ask for coffee. My husband asked for decaf, which it clearly wasn't as he was up all night, and my green tea was black. The views were beautiful, although we did not see Montenegro, (husband's injury) but the ship terrible. Cruising is usually a great way to travel because the service is outstanding. Not on Celebrity. This was the second time that I was on this ship. First time was great (the year before). This time it was terrible. It all started when boarding. I had a couple of bottles of wine in my suitcase which you are allowed and they held on to it in security. I was not informed and had to go get it myself. The food in the café was terrible. People were saving the pea soup was yesterdays guacamole. Food was cold except for the Jello with was warm and runny. Amazing difference a year makes. Entertainment was exactly the same shows from the crew. In the cabin you could here water running through the pipes until 2 a.m.. The plumbing stopped working a couple of times. A pipe burst 2 down from us and flooded much of the area with hot water. I was not kept informed of what was happening and the officers did not answer any questions. All cruise long, we had to deal with wet floors, wiring hanging down, and equipment all over the place. They worked on this problem day and night so sleep never happened. Even an officer got made at me because I was complaining to other passengers but still did nothing. The only thing I heard from the ship is when one of the crew made a joke about it around the pool. Even at one port you had to pay to get off the ship and be transferred to town even though there was a spot at the dock for free transfers to town in which other cruise lines used including Royal Caribbean This was my tenth cruise (fourth with Celebrity) and that is where it ends Read Less

Good itinerary, wanted to repeat some of the ports because they were so interesting when we did almost the same cruise in 2012. Had Aqua cabin 9056, never again!! The rolling of the carts and the loud noises, and what I can only describe as the dish machine whirring at 5 am every day made this not an enjoyable experience. We have been on Celebrity many times, have Elite status, and have never had such an experience. We feel Celebrity has cheapened the amenities and food quite a bit since our cruise on them last year. No cold cuts on the buffet at lunch, lesser quality wines, no shower cap and shampoo that made both of us itch, for example. The staff is accommodating when you make a request, but we never had these problems before. Also, the stores had almost nothing interesting or worth buying. It was the same 'bargain' stuff every night. Read Less

Hello interested readers. We did not pick this ship or cruise line since it was purchased by my folks as a family vacation. Having sailed a couple times before on Royal Caribbean (which owns Celebrity), this cruise line and ship were a huge step down. This was supposed to be a step up with some sort of "white glove service". Definitely not. It was a once in a lifetime cruise opportunity that was flawed from the beginning. So where to start? How about at the beginning? Embarkation and boarding went just fine - line went quickly from the Rome area embarkation. Getting into our cabin which was a portside window provided a fairly decent view of the outside world so we were happy with that. So while the room was clean and updated, it still felt a little old - for example - there was just TWO U.S. power plugs in the whole room. Are you kidding me? In this day and age of phones and devices, this is totally not acceptable. My back started acting up the night we got there - and it wasn't until we left that i realized that the mattress was at fault. The bed was clean and large but clearly bad support for my back. The attendant did terrific in keeping the room up to snuff. Next lets talk about dining which was what i really looked forward to. It ended up being worst experience ever - amateur hour. Mixed up orders between our table mates SEVERAL times. Service was slow and the Food was sub-par - meat cooked wrong on multiple occasions and sent back. Lobster night was embarrassing as well as the waiter apologized for the size of the lobster tails and had to bring several extras. He rolled his eyes several times as the assistant waiter fouled up orders. We didn't mind too much as they were very nice - but isn't this Celebrity which is supposed to be the best???? Daily menu selections were bleh but we went because the family would all gather there at night. Another example, the Shrimp cocktail were embarrassingly tiny. Sliced scallops looked like the waiter took one scallop and sliced it with a razor blade for the whole dining hall. Go to Oceanside buffet instead. Staff was nice but so SLOW and bumbling into each other. My wife actually had to get up and go to a bar outside the restaurant to get my drink for me as i sat there waiting. My evening coffee i ordered on more than one occasion was so slow that i walked out more than once because it was getting close to either bed time or cocktail hour!. The waiter told me "oh i had to go get it from somewhere else" - whaaat? The Oceanside buffet was far and away better with daily rotating choices - plus you can wear whatever you wanted there. In the dining hall, men had to wear long pants and I got kicked out once because of it. Who brings long pants (besides for formal nite) on a Mediterranean cruise. Breakfast was phenomenal at Oceanside - no complaints at all. Then there were the entertainment activities -wait - there were none. In 9 days of a cruise there were two pool deck activities. I know this because i spent much of my time with my daughter there poolside. My daughter went to the fun factory which is basically for the kids activities and she had fun. But they struggled to get kids to go. 400 kids were on the ship and they barely could wrestle in 10% - their biggest crowd was during talent night on the last day w 40 kids present. Their arcade was absolutely abysmal. Embarrassingly broken down old 20yr old video game units went virtually unused by anyone. We complained and tried to get them serviced for 4 straight days and not one person got back to me. The "casino" guy will take care of it we were told - never heard from this mysterious person. The machines took your money and the game didn't play. Awful experience with an 8yr old - try doing damage control with a young child when that happens!. Then when i got my statement they tried to charge me, to which i finally put my foot down and said NO WAY and nearly made a scene. They did credit my account at the end. They had daily pre-dinner shows which were fine - fine for adults. Boring for me. But I'm not into the arts so I cant really appreciate or provide a fair analysis. Only one in 9 days was of interest to my 8yr old and that was the magician. Fitness and recreation - virtually non existent. While they had a gym with machines, and a spa for my wife -- that was it. There was one basketball court which was poorly maintained. Try using a court in the morning for a workout when there are drink spills from the night before everywhere including the benches were you sit to rest. Ruined one pair of shorts. One ping pong table. Yup one. Are you kidding ? No shuffleboard at all. That's an oxymoron if i ever heard one. How is that even possible? Decks 4 + 5 had plenty of room for it but there were none to be found. During the day those decks were ghost towns. Outdoor movie experience was nice - big screen - plenty of seating consisting of couches and chairs in the middle and long chairs under pergolas in the back. However, pergolas were not covered. How do you watch an outdoor movie at 3pm in the blazing Mediterranean sun without a cover of some sort? Senseless - why offer the movie it if it isn't viewable. We tried. Multiple shore excursions were cancelled and refunded to us. Lack of interest as well as cancellation by the third party provider. Very surprising and so disappointing as a mediterranean cruise doesn't happen every day for us in the US. Truly missed out. . This never happened on our Royal cruises. Friends, this is an outdated old ship for 60+ yr old people who don't want to do anything. There are no signs or directions to find anything anywhere on the ship except the elevator areas. I am 49 and feel like 19 and felt like i was an animal locked in a cage with nothing to do. I will not sail with Celebrity - especially this ship again. Incredible waste of time and a missed experience for my family. Read Less

We had sailed on Connies inaugural cruise and had the most fabulous time. There was no fault with the food, accommodations, shore excursions, nightlife....the decor was a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other lines. So, with such great memories we had no hesitations and booked a family cruise. Embarkation disorganized, port staff very unhelpful and rude. Despite my pleas that I was travelling with my elderly disabled mother, we were forced to line up with the rest of the passengers even though I am a "elite" traveller. No help upon arrival, much different from the inaugural cruise where a cruise member escorted us to our cabins, we were left to our own devices to locate our cabin! The quality of food has gone down hill when even compared to our previous cruise of 2013. The variety quality left much to be desired. Celebrity was known for the quality of their food, sadly this is no longer true. The cabin was dated, bathroom in need of an update, even though the brochure said that it was "refurbished " mold, peeling paint, balcony door locks sticking, poorly flushing toilets.... To add insult, there was garbage left in our cabin that the room attendants failed to notice and remove. I would question how actually "clean" is my cabin. I wiped down all surfaces with my Lysol wipes! If possible, book your own shore excursions. The one offered by celebrity is $$$$$$and not worth the $. I don't mind paying extra if the quality was there. The guide in Barcelona sat at the front of the bus and read out loud the script on his phone. I was seated at the front with my mother and witnessed it! He would stop at a sight, told us to come back to the bus after we "make pictures!" To make matters worse, on the return trip, he was walking so fast, he left my entire family stranded at the Sagrada familia!? The ship's staff said they would investigate and all she said was that we all returned safely to the ship! Oh, and they refunded us our cab fare only". This is surely not the "beyond our expectations?!". The entertainment catered to the UK crowded and far below previous experiences. It might have well been the crew members who put on the show! Amateurs! The dining room was crowded, and the noise level was deafening. It was difficult to carry on any dinner conversation! The table next to us was so loud, we asked for a table change, they were unable to accommodate because the dining room was full, yet they were able to accommodate the dining your way passengers. It would have to be a very good deal for this loyal cruiser to sail with celebrity anytime soon. Read Less

We have cruised with Celebrity before on the Eclipse and the Silhouette and so had no hesitation in booking again this time on the Constellation. What a mistake! The staff to guest ratio is so low that the service was very poor. We had long waits at the bars and when a member of staff did arrive their attitude was very often surly and sometimes downright rude. The food was very bland and repetitive and the glasses, crockery and cutlery needed checking for cleanliness. The theatre shows and entertainment were distinctly amateur and not what we have come to expect from Celebrity. However, the worst thing was the shore excursions - overpriced and not at all what was described. All in all not a good experience and one we will never repeat. If you like the holiday camp feel at 5* prices this is the ship for you. Poor, poor, poor! Read Less

This was our second cruise on Celebrity. It did not compare favourable with the first. Like others who have reviewed the Consellation we found the accommodation far below the 5 Star rating you would expect for the cost of the cruise. The bedding was torn in two places and the sheets were threadbare. Worse, a single size top sheet was used as the top sheet for a king size bed. It was very uncomfortable to have your toes flicking on the side hem of the sheet and to drag your toes out of the torn areas. The bed skirt was also torn as were the drapes on the door to the verandah. Bad as this is, the food was worse if you require a special diet. My particular vice is salt and so I have to have a salt free diet. Many people with hypertension should also be aware of salt so it is a rather common dietary restriction. The waiter gave me the menu for the following night's dinner so it could be prepared salt free. With 24 hours notice, the culinary staff on the ship could do no better than: the entree, naked on the plate, no sauces, salsa's or other additions that were on the main menu, a soggy collection of carrot coins, green beans and a piece of broccoli. That was it. Every night that I ate in the dining room. 5 Star price, 2 Star service. My complaint was answered with "we will review this with the culinary staff". My next cruise is booked -- not with Celebrity. Read Less

Sold as a premium cruise Celebrity Constellation fails miserably. Carnival, Princess, Norwegian and P&O leave them for dead. You are nickel and dimed every inch of the way with overpriced shore excursions and transfers e.g. They charged Euro 22 for a Venice city transfer by boat and the Vaporetto made the identical trip for Euro 15. The"helpful" staff did not mention the availability of the Vaporetto. Drinks are expensive and get truly ridiculous when an automatic 18% gratuity is applied. Meals are unexciting. The wait staff in the restaurants are excellent but with few exceptions drink waiters are surly. The evening shows are of good quality but there is minimal incidental entertainment before and after the shows, unless you like a DJ or the same band singing the same songs every night. If I ever hear green green grass of home again!!!!!!! The ship is tired and overpriced. We will certainly not sail with them again. Read Less

The GOOD, Our Concierge cabin was wonderful. Very nice. All the staff we meet were both friendly and helpful. Our Head Waiter Hasan, on deck five, table 520 was the savour of our meals. Embarkation was fast and very easy. The BAD, Where do I start? The food was bad to very poor which was a surprise due to the fact that the brochure states world class food. It was so bad that on our third day we decided to eat at the buffet. Much to our surprise the buffet was over half closed with very few choices to eat. The food did not look very appetizing either. We had to go back to the dining room. This cruise was a celebration for one of the couples in our party. It was their 50th wedding anniversary. We planned this for 2 years. Our travel agent and my friend who's anniversary it was, both confirmed our dinner reservations for the Tuscun Grill. It was noted at both times that this was for a celebration for a 50th wedding anniversary. On arrival to the Tuscan Grill,I mentioned to the Matre'd and our head waiter that this was a special dinner for their 50th anniversary. NOT ONE PERSON from this ship did any thing for this couple. No piece of cake, a glass of champagne, nothing. The wine list was a joke. They tried to offer a bottle of a low end Wente wine from California as a premium wine selection. We are from California and questioned the wine choice so they brought a more expensive bottle form Spain which was not at all good. We had steak for dinner, a filet , which we can grill just a well as they did at home on our barbecue. The photo service is the worst I have ever seen on any of the cruises I have taken. I always buy a lot of photos from the ships.I bought a photo package for $79.00. It seem like a good deal. I had a very hard time choosing enough photos to fill my package. We never had photos taken at any of our dinner seatings, nor did they show up for the anniversary dinner. I asked the photo manager the day before to please have someone in the Tuscan Grill for my friend's anniversary dinner. They never showed up. I had to have the restaurant manager call for photo service. They finally showed up but the photos were of poor quality. I can take better photos than they did. Every other cruise I have been on , when you leave the ship to go into a port , they have a photo area with the theme of the port your in. NOT this ship. For France we had our photo taken with a stuffed dolphin. Go figure? The next port was Florence and Pisa. We had a photo with a parrot. The last two ports which were Rome and Naples did not have any background except the side of the bottom of the ship. Normally the photo people are taking so many photos that you almost get tired of them. With this cruise you won't have to worry about spending money on photos. They also do not have many activities to do if you choose to say on the ship. THE UGLY, with the concierge class room you get afternoon appetizers every day. The first two days we received a plain white kitchen plate with a paper doily on it. It had 6 small nickle size stale pieces of bread with fancy cheese whiz squirted on top of the bread. I thought, is this some kind of a joke? The third day we requested cheese and crackers. When the same white kitchen plate with paper doily arrived it seemed to be a little better until I took the plastic wrap off the plate. Sitting next to the cheese and cracker was a bunch of grapes that had gone bad and were moldy. Some had fluid oozing from the. To sum this ship and cruise line up. I will NEVER use this line again nor will I recommend it to any one else. I have been on the Carnival cruise line and Royal Carribean line. As we all know Carnival is not noted for a higher class of cruising after all they are the fun ships. I have to say I was very disappointed as were the other two couples who traveled with me and my husband. The food, activities , photos and personal service are 100 times better on the Carnival line. This is kind of funny as they are not the elite of cruising as Celebrity states they are. Read Less

The background on this trip was the family vacation we haven't taken since our kids hit their teens and now both are graduated and continuing their educations, not living at home anymore, and thus this was supposed to be a trip with our two adult age children 23/21 like we have never done before. A trip we would cherish as time together going forward will be nothing but precious....... My wife, who used to be a travel agent, and I have been on over 20 cruises so were well versed in our younger days on cruising, but have not done so in over 10 years. Once the ships got so big, the itineraries didn't seem to ever change and the product just wasn't as glamorous as the days before the magaliners we decided to hang it up for a while until the family got older and we could afford a higher-end vacation and this is what we thought we booked......this is where the two stories begin..... We chose Celebrity because of past experience years ago and the more adult style experience it was to offer.....we chose this 10 day cruise as we have never traveled to most of the stops and have never been with our children to Europe as a family before....and after putting two through college we had to try to cut some corners...so we booked a quad cabin....family veranda and figured we could deal in one space given the amount of time we would be off the ship on this busy trip. Before I go further I just want to say that despite the negatives that will follow, the ship was the perfect size for us, though older it was clean, well kept, the crew and staff were smiling, attentive, and it truly was what we expected from the Cruise Lines in regards to the service associated with Celebrity. The itinerary was superb. We also found the food better then we had anticipated given the size of ships these days....there were never lines of people to fight, never an issue finding a table, lounge chair or seat in a show and embarkation, tendering, returning aboard, and disembarkation were as smooth as could be so to that end Celebrity gets a 10/10.... So what say you was wrong with our trip???? To begin with, we found the booking process to be a real "cheapish" experience...kind of like buying a car.....it seemed that once we booked the trip we had to call several times to get the rate/perks adjusted based on the different promotions that would come out just days after originally booking or changing something....it was like trying to keep track of airfare...and was very confusing....even to us seasoned cruisers back in the day. And the thing that really pissed me off was the email I received to "BID" on a cabin upgrade....I found this to be extremely low-end for such a high-end business. This left a very poor taste in our mouth before ever leaving given what this trip was costing soup to nuts.....we can't believe the cost of drink packages and the confusing way they are presented, the internet fees for what was almost no service....they consider internet a perk in this day and age and half the time we couldn't do our work if needed or make calls to friends using Wi-fi calling....it should be free for everyone in this time of our lives....more on the drink package issue later...... More background....we chose to travel at this time of year due to the fact we figured there would be very few children on this ship on a June 9 sailing from Europe and we never expected babies and small children on a 10 day port packed European sailing....boy were we wrong!! We arrived at the ship and boarded easily and we found our nice sized family, veranda stateroom with our very nice attendant....we were exhausted as we had to travel to the ship in Rome the day of sailing and so really needed to get a nap in before dinner.....this is where the problems began..... The family Verandas on the back of the ship have two pull-out type sofa beds to go along with the twin/king really beds....my son is 5'11'' and my daughter 5'8" so no one could sleep without their sofa being out and made.....when we got in our cabin we immediately tried to pull out the beds and the smaller one wouldn't come out...the fabric was all torn and the side of one armrest was coming apart from the back of the couch....mildly annoyed we couldn't do this ourselves we had to get our cabin steward and he informed us the bed was bent so had to pulled out a special way....still exhausted and wanting to be able to sleep when we wanted they called someone to fix the bent framing and the head of housekeeping came and told us that the next day while we were in port they would remove the furniture and reupholster it and fix it properly....he was great...Claudio and they did as promised but it was a little off putting to not be able to get comfy right off the bat..... Well....from here the problems got worse......we had just all laid down to nap and as soon as we drifted off our neighbors got to their cabin....all 5 of them...thats right all 5!! Parents with 3 children under the age of 8 one of whom was under a year old.....the fighting, crying, screaming from parents etc...started instantly and I just for the life of me couldn't fathom a family of this age on a trip like this......I still can't.....needless to say we immediately reached out to the staff about a room change and as usual "No Rooms at the Inn"....we were stuck with this circus next to us for 10 days...and it was a circus....baby crying in middle of the night...wall so thin I could hear every word said in their cabin when I laid in bed....they had breakfast delivered to their cabin every morning 6:30-7:00AM and never once showed any concern for their level of noise...babies you can't control but toddlers you can to some degree and they couldn't.....my two children were so upset being 23/21 and not being able to sleep-in was brutal.....to make matters worse....they would leave their room by 7:30 and their alarm clock would go off at 8AM....I had to leave them a note on their door about this..... This scenario of this young family next door really is what drove so much of our negativity about the cruise...the lack of sleep magnified every experience and again....I feel this was no place for children this age and in speaking to so many older passengers when they heard our story they couldn't believe it either.....now this family was part of a bigger family....we actually met their parents (the grandparents) of the little ones on a tender....I offered to switch rooms so they could be closer to their family and they just laughed...they knew what would happen if they were next to their kin.....they also had two other grandchildren on board one of whom was a newborn we met on a train in France....I'm sorry Grandparents..but why would you bring 5 children under the age of 8 on a trip like this...to me this is selfish.....I don't care what circumstances there may be in life and all looked very very healthy so I don't believe this was a bucket-list family cruise for them..... We had several meetings with the cruise personal about the issues we were experiencing and although they sent us flowers champagne, paid for dinner one night and ended up giving us a nominal certificate towards another trip some day $2500 it in no way could make up for this over $12,000 vacation......they actually said they would not reach out to the family and that we shouldn't confront them either......we asked for our internet packages be refunded as the service was terrible and they wouldn't do this which we thought was pretty cheap.....enough of "The Children of the Corn".....very, very disappointing..... Now for the other issues we had.... 1) Drink and internet packages/perks are a suck job...the fact that there is plastic all over the bottom of the ocean they use plastic water bottles in the restaurant and that if you don't show you have a drink package you get tap water......it was like showing your passport to fly and ridiculous to have a waiter pour water form a small plastic water bottle.....between the drinks and internet packages/perks this is a very, very sad consumer experience!!! 2) So Canyon Ranch runs the Spa on Celebrity.....well, we've been to Canyon Ranches on land and have been pampered to death....well, not the case on this ship....staff very ordinary and we paid for the "Persian Garden Experience" with the "Adult Only" pool area.....well three times my wife came out of the shower to find young children with their parent using the toilet in the locker room and one day a woman was breast feeding a baby right by the Adult Only pool....there was no policing of this policy and it was far from Canyon Ranch quality. 3) Dining room experience was not the service we were used to.....now I know I said the food was better then we thought it would be, but there is so much energy wasted on figuring out who has what drink package by the servers, sommeliers, etc....that to get more then 1 glass of wine at dinner was like pulling teeth....or getting a second drink....you pay for these packages but yet they bog down the entire service/experience you expect in the dining room....this was very, very annoying..... 4) Casino...staff friendly and pleasant, but Casino was small, and opened later then stated every night and not just by a few minutes.....I would have liked to have been able to utilize the Casino more..... 5) gift shops.....basically felt the shopping onboard was lame and wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't part of the ship...and liquor store never opened once the entire 10 day cruise. 6) Shore excursions don't seem to be worth the money...we had private tours arranged in several ports and did our own thing in others and saved hundreds of dollars doing this and felt we had a great experience in all ports we stopped in. In Sete France it cost us 50 Euro total to take the train to Mountpellier but if we did the tour for 4 it would have been close to $1000 Staff, Ship, Entertainment, Ports 10/10....over all experience and discomfort factor due to the above 3/10.....
