We boarded in Barcelona Spain with ports of call in Gibraltar, Sete, Nice, Florence and Corsica for a 9 day cruise. The ship could use a refresh, but everything was clean and well cared for. We had a Royal Suite which was phenomenal. I think we only saw our room attendant, Natasha, twice during the whole cruise, but the cabin was always spotless. Our butler, Ellie, was the best! He couldn't do enough even though I don't think we asked much. He came every morning with cappuccino and mimosas. Even thought we only had 2 sea days, we did enjoy the large balcony and private hot tub. The bed was comfortable. We had 1 minor maintenance issue which was very quickly rectified. The service thought the cruise was outstanding. We did find the food to be not as good as on previous cruises, particularly in Luminae. Not that it was bad, just not excellent. We ordered off the main dining menu most evenings because there simply wasn't much of interest on the Luminae menu. Luckily, you can still do this on the M class ships. You can't on the new Edge class! We had one mediocre meal in Tuscan and one good one. Our dinner in Quisine was great. I would note that while we generally don't dine in the buffett, we did have lunch once and the selection was very good as was the food. We didn't go to a lot of shows because we were so busy, but the few we did go to were pretty good. We are sailing on the Summit in February which has already been refit. We are looking forward to seeing the improvements. Read Less

I was travelling with my mum in a Sky Suite and we were both not expecting the cruise to be as wonderful as it was. We embarked in Barcelona and were on a 9 day Spain, France and Italy cruise. From the moment we got on the ship to disembarking we were made to feel extra special. I was eyeing up the free welcome drink when Vinay (who we soon found out worked in the fine jewellery store) asked if he could escort us to Michaels Club to have a drink there. He walked us through the ship giving us a tour and stayed with us until Jess the concierge was free. She was so welcoming and it became apparent that pretty much everyone working on this ship loves it and is proud to be there. People remembered our names and managed to get that balance right of being professional but also friendly at the same time. I saw no evidence of wear and tear on the ship and the twilight lounge where they showed the films seemed quite new. We didn't choose our state room and were given an accessible one and it was quite small compared to the other sky suites but it did the job. We went to all the shows and they were all very good and high quality. We dined in Luminae most nights and all the people in there worked so hard and nothing was too much trouble. Read Less

After reading a fair few negative reviews I was rather worried about our trip. I had no need to be! The ship was beautiful, all areas were spotlessley clean and regularly kept that way. It had been reported that some public areas were in need of repair and showed wear and tear, we didn't see any area that wasn't wonderfully tended too. Our cabin, 6000 was surprisingly spacious and kept cleaned by our stateroom attendant Henry who was fantastic. The food was excellent in all restaurants. The bars were lovely and relaxing and the shows in the theatre of Broadway standard. Our 11 year old son was happy to spend time with his pals on the sports deck playing football and basketball. The itinary was great and we saw some lovely places. The crew treat you like royalty and all in all we had a wonderful time. I would not hesitate sailing with Celebrity again. The outdoor cinema on the rooftop terrace was a fabulous treat. Lots of lovely memories made. Read Less

We are a family of 5 with 3 daughters, 19,17,and 4. We wanted to travel to Europe but figured it was a better value and easier route to go on a cruise since we have a 4 year old. That way we could unpack and set up a routine, including valuable pool time and a familiar bed for this 9 port cruise. My husband and I had sailed in the Caribbean with Constellation previously and even though it is an older ship we enjoyed our past cruise and have nothing to complain about concerning the ship - though somewhat dated, it is kept clean and maintained adequately. Our whole family just loved this cruise! Being able to get to all those ports in Europe was just an incredible experience and we loved this itinerary since we got to see so much of the Meditteranean and a taste of the Adriatic. Our servers, room steward and staff around the ship was friendly and helpful. The cruise director, Alexandro, was hilarious, the singers around the ship were great, the guest performers, Vox Fortura, were excellent, and the ship singers and dancers on the main stage were great as well. They even did a matinee show during the day at sea which was well done - slightly strange storylline our 4 year old couldn't follow, but she liked the stage performance. We had a veranda room in the back which was awesome! Heard some chairs scraping on the Oceanview early in the morning but didn't matter too much because we were up early to venture out every day. The sleeping quarters worked out fine for our family, but if our older girls were larger or boys of that age it would have been too tight. Plenty of storage and closet space, and a huge mirror to get ready, just annoying there was only one outlet by the mirror which my daughters and I fought for. The only complaint I would have is that we ordered room service for breakfast a couple times when we had an early excursion and never got what we ordered - also got juice and coffee everyday ordered to come between 7-730 and it always came 6:45 or slightly earlier. Our young daughter loved the smaller pool and it is nice they provide life jackets for them if needed. We used the Oceanview cafe for breakfast only, lunch as well on the sea day. There's plenty to choose from, quality varies there but the food in the main dining room always had something for everyone. We had no trouble just going down and getting seated with our same waiter whenever we showed up, which was always between 5:45 - 7 PM. Easy embarkation and debarkation. We always did the ports on our own or hired private drivers. We think the ship excursions are way overpriced. We are not big drinkers so just had the 3 bottle wine special which was I think 120. Since we ate lunch in port we would sometimes get wine or beer then. Our children did not do the kids clubs - we were having too much fun just being a family together! Ports Barcelona- Had a couple days here before we set sail. Awesome city with beautiful Gaudi architecture, history, people watching, walking! Toulon - (La Seyne Sur Mer) I read about this port beforehand and knew we didn't want to stay here. Took a cab to the train station (Six Fours) and got a train to CAssis. Awesome city - super picturesque, took the 45 Min Calanques Ferry (pretty but we've seen similar in the US) and walked around town. The big issue was we couldn't find a cab or bus to take us to and from the town to the train station so be prepared for a steep walk on the way back if you go. Villefranche - toured the lovely city, then took the train to Nice and walked around. La Spezia - took the ferry to Portovenere and explored this beautiful, picturesque area. Civitavecchia - hired Rafael, from mycabinrome.com to take us to certain highlights around Rome. He was right on time picking us up in port with a newer van with AC, very knowledgeable about the ancient history of Rome, even helped us meet up with some family for lunch. Highly recommend! Naples - Used See Amalfi Coast company (driver Giovanni) to drive us to various towns on the Amalfi Coast. There was some confusion at pick up - we were told to meet him at the cruise terminal so took a shuttle there to wait for him - he went straight to the ship so we missed each other. Eventually with a few calls he found us. Giovanni was excellent, kept an eye on traffic conditions near Positano and after consulting us, we changed our itinerary to reduce our time in traffic and see a couple more towns instead. The scenery is gorgeous! Our daughter got carsick so take your Dramamine! Kotor, Montenegro - Gorgeous ride in - wake up early for this awesome display of God's handiwork!! We walked through the old town and straight up to the top of the fortress first thing in the morning - 1350 steps up with a 4 year old! If you do this climb you need to do it first thing before the sun bakes the trail. Split, Croatia - explored Diocletian's palace, some of us went up the bell tower. There isn't much to do/see here after that in port, especially after seeing Kotor. Venice - we got an airbnb here for a couple days after disembarkation. Took the Alilaguna straight from the cruise terminal to a spot near our apt. Recommend getting the 24 ACTV waterbus pass so you can go up/down the Grand CAnal, take a side trip to Murano or Burano. We went to Burano where all the houses are painted various bright colors - super great photo spot! Wish it was in the budget to do this more often - it was an awesome trip! Read Less

This was our 26th cruise, so we speak from experience! We took the 11 night France, Spain, Italy cruise beginning and ending in Rome. The ship is smaller and very well maintained, meaning we were able to visit some of the smaller ports. New was the drink package offered...a third level, cheaper than classic and premium. Apparently only offered in the last few cruises. Not sure if they are being offered fleetwide. They were charging $500 each for the 11 night cruise. We declined this because we would be off the ship so many days...only 2 days at sea. Being elite level captains club members, however, we were given 3 free drinks at any bar on the ship between 5 and 7pm!! Unfortunately, the only problem was gale force winds near the end of the cruise. We were unable to visit the last 2 scheduled ports of call so spent two nights in a more sheltered port...not very calm here either. The gangway was closed several times due to safety issues, and on our last day we broke away from the dock and floated out into the harbours hitting the nearby Costa ship. The captain took great control and a couple of hours later we were pushed by several tugs (working in incredibly choppy waters) back to the dock These storms were all across northern and western Italy. So the Rome port was also closed. We were offered free bus service for the 5 hour drive to Rome airport, so boarded a bus at 230am with the help of many many ship staff. Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary even though we prefer Celebrity typically anyway. It went from Barcelona to Valencia, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Catania, Kotor, Split and ended in Venice. There were 8 of us so it was a large group. We were in Barcelona two years ago and realized we did not give ourselves enough time to see it so we spent an extra two days there as well as in Venice. Both cities have so much to offer. Ship The service, food and ship were great. We saw some negative reviews about how dated the ship was and we did not see that at all. Was it a new ship? No. Was it clean and well maintained? Absolutely! We have been on over 10 cruises with Celebrity, Carnival and Royal Caribbean so I think we have a general idea of what to expect. It was a smaller ship and that was just fine with us. It had everything we needed and did not appear crowded except on sea days around the pool which is typical. The food and service was great both in the dining room and buffet. What impressed us was that they varied the menu in the buffet along with keeping the standard type of fare. The burgers and hot dogs on the pool deck were good but not grilled to order. I will take the Guy Fieri burgers offered on Carnival any day. The service throughout was very good. I need to give special recognition to Victor, the cabin steward, Rhys and Joao in the dining room and especially Roxanne who made me great cappuccinos every morning at the Cafe Bacio. Entertainment was good as well. Ports and Excursions: We had quite a few credits to use and while we usually book our excursions privately, we used our credits on three Celebrity excursions and all were great. Valencia was all right and just roamed the town. We took a ship excursion in Ibiza to the beach and had a great beach day. In Palma de Mallorca, having visited the city last time, we took a ship excursion to Soller. It was a bus ride to Soller with a short hour visit and then back on the antique train. That was a nice way to see a different part of the island and spend the day. We booked a wine tasting directly with Sicily 4 You which was very enjoyable. We also visited a bakery for some of the best cannoli we ever had. We used Sicily 4 You on our previous trip for another tour and they were so good, we went with them again. We booked directly with Tours by Milo for their All in One plus Perast tour in Montenegro which was a really nice way to see the country. Montenegro was really a great stop. We had a little time to visit the Old Town of Kotor. Unfortunately it was windy the day we visited and the tenders were delayed in getting us to the port. It was also due to the weather we were not able to see our Lady of the Rocks church or spend more time in Old Town. We booked a Celebrity excursion for Split that took us to Trogir and Diocletians palace. That was great excursion as well and highly recommended. In Venice was great and we roamed the city on our own but did purchase tickets for the Secret Tour for the Doge's Palace ahead of time. That was really good. All in all it was a great trip and experience. Read Less

We were concerned about a long sea journey at the start of a cruise so opted for this itinerary as it boarded in Barcelona. The ports of call all appealed, with many being our first visit. I had been recommended to Celebrity because of the service and friendliness of staff which DID NOT disappoint. Although only a deck 2 ocean view cabin it was extremely comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Dean ( our stateroom attendant) was very efficient and friendly and made us very welcome throughout. We dined mainly in the Main Restaurant and were lucky enough to have Jorge, Kumamoto and Elvin looking after us and they were truly amazing. We couldn’t ask for more attentive and genuine staff. Olga and Jacqueline at front desk of the main restaurant always greeted us with a warm welcome and again really made every night an experience. We only tried 1 speciality restaurant on our first cruise experience, Qsine, and although nice and quirky (and loads of food) we preferred the main restaurant. Entertainment was varied and plentiful and we loved the experience of the poolside ‘silent disco’. We also caught the new avengers film one evening which gave us a nice relaxing night. As this was our first cruise we were very impressed and we liked the intimency of a smaller ship - although some passengers said it needs the refurbishment in 2020 - as we had nothing to compare it to we were very pleased with the overall decor and standards. We chose the cruise because of the itinerary but also because we prefer to cruise with Celebrity. This was our first ime on a Millenium Class ship having sailed on Solstice class many times. The public rooms and other areas on Constellation were beautifully maintained and had been refurbished recently re carpets soft furnishings etc. Our cabin was comfortable, spacious, had new carpets, beds and bedding. The decor is dated, though functional. I am assuming this will be upgraded as part of the May 2020 upgrade "revolution".The shower area is spacious but I would prefer a glass shower door. Our only gripe was the slightly "stiff to open" balcony door. This was reported both on board and in the post cruise survey as "needing attention". Plenty of storage in the cabin, though no over-bed storage as on Solstice class and we could not get our suitcases under the bed ( the same suitcases fit under Solstice class beds). We put them in the wardrobe. We found the balconies were shorter, front to back than on Solstice. Our steward was pleasant and quietly efficient. He seemed to sense when we were out and magically refreshed the room to perfection again. Just what you want in a steward. We had chosen Select Dining in the San Marco ( Main) dining room. Select dining is on the lower floor, fixed dining on the upper floor, the opposite to Solstice class. We had also pre-booked a dining time, before boarding, so had no waiting time for a table in the evening. There were two desks on arrival, one for those with reservations, one for those without reservations. The dining room has a "colonial style" decor which we liked. The food and service was excellent at all times. Could not fault the food at all. We had an invite to dine in Qsine one evening with two senior members of staff, and had a better experience than our first time in Qsine on another ship, a couple of years ago. We were brought everything to sample, so it was quite special. The food was excellent, in particular the lamb chops and the "lava crab" . I am not a fan of the Ipad ordering idea.... an unnecessary gimmick. We enjoyed breakfasts of fresh fruit, smoked salmon , coffee etc...not forgetting in particular the yummy, warm mini almond croissants....in Tuscan Grill, which is midships on Constellation. We were impressed by the Rendezvous Bar which comprises a small stage area, dance floor with surrounding tables/seating areas. There is a bar at the rear of the lounge with bar seating. This we prefer to the Ensemble lounge arrangement on deck 5 Solstice class, which seems too much like a "corridor" . The entertainment changed a few times nightly in the Rendezvous Bar,and we thoroughly enjoyed solo artists, duos and small groups, Izzie & Mo, Ultraviolet to name just two. The bar service was entertaining and very efficient. We were spoilt with choice re entertainment but managed to attend two of the shows. Rietta Austin was excellent and had a wonderful vocal range. Paul Baya the cruise director is also a wonderful singer and his voice reminded me of Andrea Bocelli. Beautiful. We enjoyed two Celebrity organised tours. From Livorno...Florence by train on a Sunday was a success. A coach took us to the railway station and then a train whisked us comfortably into Florence. We had a tour guide, Angelika, who gave us a map and lots of tips, answered lots of questions on the train trip and said that we could join her on a walk through Florence's main sights, if we wished, leaving her at any point. This was really a "Florence on your own tour" so you could just do your own thing. This guided tour was a very pleasant unexpected extra. The 46 strong party dwindled as people drifted off but having never been to Florence before, we ( and about another 12 people) stayed with Angelika until reaching the Ponte Vecchio viewing area by the river. We then chose to wander and find somewhere on our own for lunch, which wasn't difficult. We relaxed with pasta and red wine and then gently meandered past the magnificent architecture back to the meeting point at the station. Had we wanted to go inside any of the buildings, the queues were long and it was a warm day. We were happy just taking in the atmosphere and marvelling at the buildings from the exterior. There were crowds but it was not as busy as we expected it to be. Our second excursion was to Carcasonne from Sete. This medieval town, reached by coach is wonderful. Not as we expected, as there is a fully functional small town within the fortress walls with hotels, shops, restaurants etc...but lots of history too. We had a good guide who pointed out things you would have missed and told stories which transported you back in time. We had plenty of time to wander on our own , visit the main citadel, have lunch etc. before meeting for the return journey. We encountered problems on the motorway on the way back...a traffic accident and extensive, bad traffic queues, but had no anxiety re arriving back late ( and we did) as we were on a Celebrity organised tour. Other than these two tours we explored on our own. We took the ship's tender (free) into Portofino and, as we had been before, we found and walked on part of the Ligurian way eventually rejoining a path by the road and arrived in Santa Margherita ( 4 miles away) at lunchtime, for more pasta and red wine...well, why not? We caught the frequent bus back. Tickets cold be obtained from the machine by the tourist office...3 Euros each. Villefranche, we tendered in and wandered round the town as this was our first visit ...but we did some research whilst there and it would have been very easy to catch a train to Nice or Monte Carlo. We have been to Monte Carlo twice before but never by train....maybe next time. Toulon , we decided to have a day on board, the ship docked at La Seyne sur Mer, across the bay from Toulon and a shuttle was offered for $20 each. Maybe it wasn't just another retail opportunity, and maybe next time we would go on a tour but we had a lovely view from the ship across the busy bay and gave it a miss this time. We do feel that if Celebrity choose to dock in places which necessitate a paid shuttle then they should bear this cost. The Ibiza shuttle was 10 Euros for a day pass each, the Pama de Majorca shutlle was 10 Euros return each Disembarkation day came too soon but was very well organised. Too soon we were on our way home. But...we had booked another cruise on board so something to look forward to. We would have no hesitation in booking another cruise to sail on Celebrity Constellation. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports. It was a wonderful experience. Our cabin steward was kind, caring, and attentive. A very hard worker and we appreciated his trustworthiness! The ship shows some signs of age, especially in the cabin bathrooms but it didn’t impede our enjoyment. Food was okay, not the best we have had but the staff all over the ship were great - especially in the kids club. The programming for kids was great. Our son, 10, loved it! He made friend with other children from all over the world and he couldn’t wait to go back every day. It gave us time to ourselves and him time to be a kid. Our least favorite poet was, sadly, Split. I so wanted it to be better than it was. Crowded and beyond hot. It was unbearable. The rest of the ports were awesome! Side note - we felt hiring private guides was better and less expensive that ship excursions. I’d recommend this cruise and ship. Go- have fun! Read Less

This was my first cruise and I absolutely loved it. I couldnt believe how effortless boarding the ship was, I've never seen such an efficient operation before, it was quite impressive. We ate at the main dining room most nights and were served by an amazing team, in particular our sommelier Ana was brillant, there was 11 of us in total some nights, 3 of us wanted anything with bubbbles, 2 preferred red and the rest different whites and not only did Ana's suggestions hit the spot, she remembered our choices and our names. Mayuresh was our waiter and he was also wonderful, I can't say enough about the 2 of them. The buffet was ok they had a good selection for breakfast and lunch, but dinner was just ok not as many options as I would've liked which is the main reason I enjoyed going to the dining room. The ship is in ok condition and I think it's being refurbished in the next year or 2, which will be great and I hope they consider 1 change, the smoking area is too close to the pingpong tables and one of the entries to the buffet. Trips ashore were easy to arrange, mostly sightseeing tours and a few adventure options as well. I would sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

BACKGROUND My DW and I are Diamond RCCL cruisers, we decided to give Celebrity a try to open up more itinerary choices. The fact that Celebrity gives us Elite status was another deciding factor. We have sailed smaller ships and mega ships before and are ok with either, understanding that we usually have to give up size for a more unique itinerary. We chose this Constellation 9 night cruise based on the Barcelona to Venice Mediterranean sailing that included Croatia and Montenegro. PRE-CRUISE Had no problems with the Celebrity website, the booking process, selection of meal times, tours, etc. I was able to set up my schedule exactly the way I wanted. Bought a couple of excursions. So far so good… I have to say that I was a bit dismayed with some of the recent Constellation reviews on Cruise Critic. A few of them described the ship as being “in major disrepair” and as being filthy. There were also reviews that complained about terrible service and rude staff members. As an experienced reader of reviews, I understand that opinions can vary widely. I also understood this ship wasn’t built yesterday. EMBARKATION (BARCELONA) Was a breeze. This time we opted for a later pier arrival (so that we could enjoy a few last hours of Barcelona) of around 2:30ish and we basically were able to walk on, go directly to our room, etc. We had priority boarding but really didn’t need it. We were able to buy some wine in the port store and carry it on with no issues. THE SHIP Obviously not a new ship, the Constellation does show some wear and tear. To describe it as being in “major disrepair” or “filthy” is simply ridiculous. Ship was certainly clean and we observed adequate ongoing cleaning activities. We spent most of our deck time in the solarium and there was always an attendant there cleaning and drying the floors from pool and spa splashes. Most of the deck chairs looked brand new. The carpeting didn’t even appear that worn to me. After reading those scathing reviews read pre-cruise, I was very pleased with the ship’s condition. Layout was also easy to learn. THE CABIN – 8002 We usually opt for a balcony but settled for an Oceanview (booked a Guarantee) in order to spend more on sightseeing, etc. We were assigned cabin 8002 which turned out to be a really oversized oceanview (due to the shape of the outside of the ship and the hallway, this cabin is like 30-40% longer than the standard oceanview. We really enjoyed the space!! The location of the cabin (extreme FWD) was not of any consequence regarding noise or movement on this sailing. Regarding condition/cleanliness – perhaps a little (and I mean a little) wear and tear, but very clean. We had no complaints about the cabin. Our Cabin Steward, Neil from India, was fantastic (best we’ve ever had on any cruise). Always a big plus when the Steward seeks you out on day one to both greet you and to find out if you have any questions/requests. DINING Always subjective, but here goes. We had Select Dining and I made reservations for dinners pre-cruise. We only really had an issue on night one when we waited in the reservation line for 30 minutes (behind a large group of suite guests with NO reservation that were trying to get multiple tables together, by the windows, etc, etc). IMO, the hostess really should have pulled this group aside to seat those in line WITH reservations. When we finally got to the hostess, she declared “you’re late for your reservation”, to which I replied “think it’s the other way around because we were here on time”. We were automatically seated at tables for two, which by the way, are like 6 inches from other tables for two. Really more like a table for four. We didn’t mind the closeness (we met some really great couples) but there is a bit of awkwardness because the food is coming at different times at each table of two - since the couples are seated at different times. On to the dining room food quality: overall, a bit better than RCCL. The prime rib was really good, as were the fish dishes. Loved having some new choices. Service in the dining room was very good overall, think we had one waiter on one night that was just average. No issues at all with wine and drink service either. We have had issues in the past on RCCL (getting timely drinks in the dining room), no issues on the Constellation. The Oceanview Café was also a positive experience for us. A big plus was that there were always open seats (which is not the case on the larger RCCL ships). I give the food quality and selection a slight edge over RCCL. We did not eat in any specialty restaurants. THE STAFF Our overall experience with Constellation staff members was excellent. I already mentioned our exemplary Cabin Steward. Many, many staff members called us by name (more so than any previous cruise). Of the several dining room teams that served us dinner, we only had one waiter that was “so-so”. The Captain’s Club Ambassador was very attentive during the evening happy hour. Our one interface with Guest Services (complaints about the really crappy internet) was handled to our satisfaction. The staff members in the Oceanview Café were very efficient, dirty plates were always quickly removed- pleasantly. I was also impressed with how organized the queues for excursions were handled by those staff members. I mentioned the slightly snooty Select Dining hostess -after the first night our interactions with her were fine. So, call me completely puzzled by those negative staff reviews I’d read pre-cruise….. CAPTAIN’S CLUB Certainly enjoyed the nightly cocktail hour(s). No drink coupons loaded on the card for this cruise, the cocktail crowd was always pretty small. Appetizers at the Elite happy hour were pretty weak, IMO the RCCL Diamond Lounge had better offerings. The free bags of laundry were fantastic. Also enjoyed the Elite breakfast. MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS BEDDING- we slept fine but the mattresses could definitely use an upgrade. Also, it appears Celebrity does not use that foam “crack filler” when beds are pushed together? INTERNET- Absolutely horrible on this cruise. We could hardly get into our email, forget about uploading more than one picture at a time. After complaining at Guest Services, we were sent to talk to the “specialist” in the IT Lounge. He admitted that on that cruise the bandwith was “not what they had hoped for”. We ended up getting a 50% refund which I thought was fair. INTERACTIVE TV- How about posting the dining room menus here? Also was able to view my daily schedule on the newer RCCL ships, missed that here…. FELLOW PASSENGERS- Maybe it was the itinerary, maybe it was Celebrity – not sure which, but as a whole, we experienced a great group of savvy travelers (with the exception of the guy grabbing the buffet food with his hands – there has to be one on every cruise). Average age was also younger than we expected. CONCLUSION We enjoyed our first Celebrity cruise and would not hesitate to consider this line in the future. We look at Celebrity as an extension of RCCL, the slightly better food and service being an extra perk. Really wish we still earned RCCL points for Celebrity sailings though!! Read Less

We embarked the ship around 12:00pm, and our rooms weren’t ready until 1:00pm however it did give us a chance to explore the ship & enjoy the food. On the first evening the restaurants were super busy - so i would recommend booking or turing up early. However we did manage to find a table at the Tuscan restaurant where the staff were very friendly and accomodating & gave us very generous portions! The rest of the nights we ate at the San Marco restaurant (where we had to book each evening) but it did mean that we had the same waiters each night & they got to know us very well. Our main waiter Santosa, was extremely friendly & gave us recommendations each night on what to eat. By the last couple of nights he knew exactly what we liked to drink (so he would pre-order our drinks for us) and what our favourites were on the menu. He also referred to me & my family as Miss, Sir and Madame. For me personally, the friendly & generous staff in this restaurant were what made the holiday. Again, the rooms were lovely & not dated (i was warey of this as other reviews did mention it). Our room steward was again very friendly & helpful, making our beds each day & changing the towels twice a day. My family & i went on three shore excursions which were good. We went to Rome, Venice & Pisa. The tour guides were excellent, and had a lot of information to offer. The tours were well organised (on celebrity’s behalf), especially if you didn’t have a tour booked you could easily get off and on the ship to explore the cities. The only negative i would have is that the on board facilities are minimal and they could have more to offer, for instance a bigger swimming pool - but you do know this when booking th cruise! Overall, i had an incredible holiday & would particularly like to highlight the amazing staff on the ship as their friendliness and services were above and beyond what i ever expected! Read Less

Really enjoyed this short cruise from Barcelona to Venice as Part of a longer holiday in Spain and Italy. Had a balcony cabin on deck 7 which had been recently refurbished and was very nice comparing well with our Aqua Class cabin on Eclipse the previous year. The cabin steward was friendly and helpful as were all the crew we encountered. Having been spoilt by the Blu restaurant we did find the MDR a bit overwhelming but really enjoyed eating from the buffet in the Sunset Bar for several nights instead. We had a lovely meal in Tuscan and would go there again but didn’t really get the concept in Quisine so would probably not bother with that on future cruises. We enjoyed most of the ports we called at on this cruise except Genoa as it was a Monday and most of the tourist attractions were closed. The info on the ship didn’t make you aware of that so after a very hot walk standing at the entrance of things we could have visited on a different day we took the open top bus tour and then got back on the boat! We did the Vatican Behind the Scenes Tour run by Celebrity which was very good but included a meal in a hotel near by. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the, quality of the food or service which was slow and wasted an hour of our short time in the city. We were left feeling we had paid a lot of money for something that we could have got far cheaper and better by finding somewhere ourselves. Neither was it a traditional Italian meal in a local restaurant that celebrity suggests you will get. Overall though this was another great cruise and we would use celebrity again Read Less

This was our 2nd trip on this ship and the food was still amazing. It didn’t matter whether you ate in the buffet or main dining room the food was fantastic in both. Cabin was lovely with a nice balcony. Towels changed twice a day and cabin kept very clean and tidy by our steward. We travelled with another couple and our bookings were linked so we could eat together every evening. The service on the ship is brilliant and couldn’t fault it. The only thing that lets it down is the entertainment in the main showcase theatre, which is very mediocre. Having said that it wouldn’t stop me booking again with celebrity. The shore excursions are very expensive compared to other cruises we have been on and nothing that really appealed to us so didn’t book many. The pool staff need to keep kids out of areas where they shouldn’t be ie. the solarium. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the unusual itinerary. Some reviews said the Constellation was tired and showing signs of wear, we didn't find this at all. The ship was beautifully kept and the cabins were spacious and light. We chose late dining and shared a table with some great people. The food was varied and excellent. We were well looked after by head waiter and sommelier. Eating later enabled us to attend the shows in the theatre every night. the entertainment was always excellent especially the guest artists. The ships singers and dancers worked very hard to put on some fabulous costumed extravaganzas. Our cabin steward was always there with a song and a smile, and the buffet staff were happy to stop for a chat even though they were very busy. We have no complaints as we enjoyed our cruise very much, however it would be more perfect if the Wi-Fi packages were not so expensive. Not a late night party ship. but the silent disco was great fun and everybody was dancing until 1.00am. The diversity of the ports, Malta, Jerusalem, and the Greek Islands made this an unusual cruise not often found, but would recommend should it be offered again. Read Less

This was the first Aqua Class cruise for most of our group and the restaurant and the spa were worth whatever you paid. Rooms were large enough and balcony was pleasant but the crew on this ship were without a doubt the best of any cruise we have been on. The entertainment was very very good and the different bars were great for just relaxing between shore excursions and the evening entertainment. The itinerary was perfect as was the weather. If you have not taken this cruise it should be on your bucket list in the near future. My absolute favorite was Corinth but each port we stopped at had so much history and so much historical and biblical importance. We had a very eclectic group and everyone found the cruise and the ports to be an awesome experience. This ship while not grand in size more than makes up for it in personality and service. Read Less

This was our second cruise on the Constellation and as with our first cruise - it did not disappoint. We selected this cruise for its itinerary (as all of the stops were new with the exception of Livorno - but we did something different than the first time we were there), the price, and because it is Celebrity! Embarkation was as smooth as silk. We were a little early (1030am) but were allowed to board and it only took 10 minutes. Our cabin was an oceanview (lowest category available - 08) right at the front of the ship (2001), but the cabin was of good size, quiet and very "stable" - no rocking! We chose this cabin because of the incredible price/value (as it included drinks, tips and $200 obc) - for less than $1000 per person!! We ate all of our evening meals in the Main Dining Room and the service and quality was great. I liked the variety and quantity!! Entertainment on the ship was ok. The main performers were average with the exception of the magician. His act was pretty amazing. The games and other activities on the ship were really good and plentiful. What made this cruise was the crew - Celebrity seems to hire the friendliest and most helpful people. The itinerary (and luckily the weather) was amazing. The cruise was absolutely awesome with the places we got to see. I don't really have too much negative to say (yes...I could nit pick like most people like to do), but overall, I had a great time on the cruise, had plenty to eat and drink, and the ports were interesting. Celebrity did not disappoint and I will continue to book with them in the future. Read Less

We chose to cruise to celebrate my husband's birthday and since we have been to Europe many times this ship had an itinerary that was different for us. It wasn't our first choice to go on the Constellation because it was an older ship......but what a surprise!! The renovations that have been made to the ship are really lovely and we even booked another cruise on this ship for next year. The crew was outstanding and the service was amazing. We dined in Blu and each time we were greeted by our names both by the hostess' and waitstaff. We were made to feel Special each and every day. I was impressed with the level of service given to our meals, and by our cabin steward. We are not new to Celebrity, we are Elite Plus members, therefore we feel qualified to say that the service and ship were Outstanding! I would also like to add that we rarely attend the shows onboard, if we do we usually sit on the end so we can leave if the performance is not to our liking, on this cruise we loved the entertainment and stayed through most of the shows. If there were any cons, I would have to say it was disappointments with some of the shore excursions. The problem is since we were in France on a Sunday and Monday most shops were closed and we still had 2 to 2 1/2 hours of free time with no place to go but sit around. I would suggest that the tours either be shortened on those days or discarded altogether. Read Less

This was X cruise number 9. So we can sort of saying that we like Celebrity. We are a couple in mid 30, so compared to the rest of the demographic onboard. We are on the younger side. But we like it, we go early to bed and like to have one glass of wine together whit good food. We are not party-all-night fans, so what X gives us, fits us perfectly. We flew in to Barcelona a day early. So had time to walk around for some shopping and sightseeing. This cruise, we celebrated 7years wedding day. It was so nice, they had posted a big card on the stateroom door and we had a cake whit candle delivered to dessert on the day. It was so nice. It is just a really nice thing. It is all in the details. We did not expect anything. Since we celebrated 5years wedding day onboard Equinox and we did not receive any form for knowledge of the day. This time we had gone all in compared to earlier. We had a aqua class cabin, well kept. The cabins is very similar to the ordinary cabins. But the shower has more jets and you have access to persian garden and Blu. The food in Blu is very our cup of tea. Lots of salads, fish, seafood and vegetable. It tasted really good and we were taken good care of. If we can, we will do Blu again. you can really taste the difference from the MDR. We had some lunsj in the buffet and aqua spa. Lots to choose from, but on the millennium class, the lay-out of the buffet is long and you must walk all the way around to see whats on. Service in bars and cafe al bacio were good. They help you as fast as they can, overall quality in drinks and presentation is good. Entertainment is very personal. Some like it, some dont. This cruise it was change of the cast in production shows. So it was nice to see some familiar faces from earlier sailings back on the stage. They did 2 shows onboard. We seen them before, so we are a bit tired of it. But the cast did a good job. The guest entertainers on this cruise was very good. We had a really good time on all the shows performed. Live music around the ship was good but not the best. We had better music last cruise... The string due was not the best on the seas. We prefer some of the others we have had before. It was the 3.sailing we have whit cd Rich Clesen. He do a great job and we like him. Hope to see him onboard again in the future. As for activities, it was actually missing some details. We actually feel that is was missing something from day to day. Normally we never feel the need for this, but on this cruise it was to little on the meny. It not a big deal for us, but still. It could have been a little bit more offers/activities. It felt like the activity team was one step behind every day. After the short dry dock in may, Connie has a big screen back on deck 12. They show one movie a day. The selection was not great. It should have been a movie and something else every day. Ports of call in this cruise was some new and some old ports for us. Corsica was one of the highlights. It is very nice, docks in city and the water are crystal clear. Would we book another cruise on X and or Connie? Yes Read Less

I have cruised on Celebrity four times now and I really enjoy the excellence and good value on this cruise line. The ship was well maintained, and a good size without being too big. Service was always excellent and attentive everywhere was often busy and difficult to get a drink in some of the bar areas. The food was very good both in the main dining and the buffet area. I could always find something on the menu I liked and when I did eat our waiter’s recommended courses, they were always excellent. We also ate a total of four times in two specialty restaurants and while they were good, they were not better then the regular dining. Next time I will skip these. One area where the cruise did not stand out for us was entertainment. The majority of the evening shows were singing and dancing which we do not care much for. We would of enjoyed more different acts like magicians or comedians, but that was sparse on this ship. The itinerary was really great on this cruise and we got off the ship everywhere except Ravenna (I was not feeling good there). Our very favorite stop was Valencia, where I hope to visit again. This was really an outstanding cruise in pretty much every way and I would highly recommend it. Read Less

We picked this cruise as an experience for friends who had never cruised before. Long enough to get the idea, but not too long! The ship is lovely, older than some of the new glitzy models but more to our taste. We had an oceanview, fine and a very reasonable price. Deck two, quiet and fine for the short time we were there. The cabin steward was ok, not great but kept the cabin clean. We had the classic drink package included, which we made good use of! The staff were great, not once did we have anything less than great service. Numbers of staff could be greater but we just went to the bar ourself rather than waiting. Several staff shone above the others and we made sue we put a comment card in and tipped extra. The ports were good, Venice, Dubrovnik and Kotor being the highlights. One of the best cruises we have taken! Read Less

We were a group of 10 and this was our first time to the Mediterranean. This cruise followed a Danube river cruise. We embarked after spending 3 nights in Venice and I would recommend at least 3 nights there - though it is expensive. We travelled as a group by water taxi to the port. This was the most economical for us as we had lots of luggage and are all seniors. Embarkation was smooth - we were on board by 11am and enjoyed lunch on the deck. Clouds rolled in near sail away time, but the rain held off just long enough to sail by Venice - something not to be missed! We went ashore at all ports and at least took the shuttle to town. Walked the walls in Dubrovnik - worth the time. Totally enjoyed Catania stop where we went to Mount Etna and Taormina. This cruise was chosen for the itinerary. We like the size of this ship - a little smaller than Eclipse etc. Though it is older, the recent renovations are good. Seem to be many coats of paint on the balconies etc. But Connie is still in good shape. I really wish Celebrity would add a piano bar. Maybe get rid of Cellar Masters - there never seems to be anyone there. Or Sushi on 5. We did appreciate that there seemed to be less push to up sell this year - i.e. specialty dining, spa etc. And I would like to see the cost of internet come down and be faster. It is a part of everyone’s lives now - perhaps unfortunately. Overall a great trip! Read Less

Also went to Qsine but not that impressed. Food not that interesting and dessert made me feel sick! We had a drinks package which worked well for us although we are not big drinkers. Pina coladas round the pool very nice though! Pools very good but a little cold at times. Indoor pool lovely and warm like a bath! Jacuzzis warm and restful! Travelled with 2 other couples. This cruise has been on our bucket lists and we finally were able to take this cruise. We did stay in Venice for 3 days before boarding the Constellation. Very impressed. To start, our room 8003 was amazing. An Oceanview at the front of the ship was huge. No balcony, but the extra space made up for that. Could have fit another queen bed in there and still have room to move. I have a little bit of mobile issues and stayed around the ship one day instead of doing shore excursions. Our room Stewart checked with me a few times that day when he saw me to make sure all was well, and asked if he could do or help with anything. ( Charlie was his name) all the staff we found to be so kind and fun loving. Very polite and always smiling. The food was excellent. We ate at the spa, the buffet, the dining room, the bistro, and the Tuscan grill. The only complaint we had was there was too much food.the evening shows were great..comedians, music, bands, and the silent disco is a hoot. The main reasons we took this cruise, was the cruise line and the ports. We did do our own private excursions. The ship is not overly big. I found it quite comfortable with my mobility issues. I did not use my cane at all. The age group on the ship was also great..averaged 35 and up. Not too many children. Saw maybe 8 or 10. Even the passengers were friendly with one another. We decided to book on the Silhouette next November. Love this cruise line Read Less

This was our first time on the millenium class ships so we were a little apprehensive. We shouldn't have been as we all enjoyed the size of the ship, layout and slightly fewer people. 3 of us shared the Penthouse suite and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Obviously the space and layout of the suite are both exceptional but our all time favourite Butler, steward and every member of staff we met were friendly, efficient and willing to go the extra mile. We have had a very poor Butler once in the past so we have now had our confidence restored in Celebrity. Dining in Luminae was great, you can order off the other menus if you ask so the choice is very wide. We tried sushi in 5 once and enjoyed the food even though we are not experts on sushi. Lunchtimes we tried Oceanview and Aqua spa cafe and enjoyed both once we had managed to find somewhere to sit. We were often ashore so had some local snack whilst there. Entertainment both day and night was fine for us, we did a few dance classes, trivia quizzes and went to shows when it was visiting artists all of whom were really good. Not keen on the big shows so can't comment. The activities staff seemed very friendly and good at their job and Rich the cruise director was one of the best we have had. We had organised our own shore excursions both just for the 3 of us and with a small group on the roll call and really enjoyed each port although they were all at a distance from the town/ city we were visiting.
