The background on this trip was the family vacation we haven't taken since our kids hit their teens and now both are graduated and continuing their educations, not living at home anymore, and thus this was supposed to be a trip with our two adult age children 23/21 like we have never done before. A trip we would cherish as time together going forward will be nothing but precious....... My wife, who used to be a travel agent, and I have been on over 20 cruises so were well versed in our younger days on cruising, but have not done so in over 10 years. Once the ships got so big, the itineraries didn't seem to ever change and the product just wasn't as glamorous as the days before the magaliners we decided to hang it up for a while until the family got older and we could afford a higher-end vacation and this is what we thought we booked......this is where the two stories begin..... We chose Celebrity because of past experience years ago and the more adult style experience it was to offer.....we chose this 10 day cruise as we have never traveled to most of the stops and have never been with our children to Europe as a family before....and after putting two through college we had to try to cut some corners...so we booked a quad cabin....family veranda and figured we could deal in one space given the amount of time we would be off the ship on this busy trip. Before I go further I just want to say that despite the negatives that will follow, the ship was the perfect size for us, though older it was clean, well kept, the crew and staff were smiling, attentive, and it truly was what we expected from the Cruise Lines in regards to the service associated with Celebrity. The itinerary was superb. We also found the food better then we had anticipated given the size of ships these days....there were never lines of people to fight, never an issue finding a table, lounge chair or seat in a show and embarkation, tendering, returning aboard, and disembarkation were as smooth as could be so to that end Celebrity gets a 10/10.... So what say you was wrong with our trip???? To begin with, we found the booking process to be a real "cheapish" experience...kind of like buying a car.....it seemed that once we booked the trip we had to call several times to get the rate/perks adjusted based on the different promotions that would come out just days after originally booking or changing something....it was like trying to keep track of airfare...and was very confusing....even to us seasoned cruisers back in the day. And the thing that really pissed me off was the email I received to "BID" on a cabin upgrade....I found this to be extremely low-end for such a high-end business. This left a very poor taste in our mouth before ever leaving given what this trip was costing soup to nuts.....we can't believe the cost of drink packages and the confusing way they are presented, the internet fees for what was almost no service....they consider internet a perk in this day and age and half the time we couldn't do our work if needed or make calls to friends using Wi-fi calling....it should be free for everyone in this time of our lives....more on the drink package issue later...... More background....we chose to travel at this time of year due to the fact we figured there would be very few children on this ship on a June 9 sailing from Europe and we never expected babies and small children on a 10 day port packed European sailing....boy were we wrong!! We arrived at the ship and boarded easily and we found our nice sized family, veranda stateroom with our very nice attendant....we were exhausted as we had to travel to the ship in Rome the day of sailing and so really needed to get a nap in before dinner.....this is where the problems began..... The family Verandas on the back of the ship have two pull-out type sofa beds to go along with the twin/king really beds....my son is 5'11'' and my daughter 5'8" so no one could sleep without their sofa being out and made.....when we got in our cabin we immediately tried to pull out the beds and the smaller one wouldn't come out...the fabric was all torn and the side of one armrest was coming apart from the back of the couch....mildly annoyed we couldn't do this ourselves we had to get our cabin steward and he informed us the bed was bent so had to pulled out a special way....still exhausted and wanting to be able to sleep when we wanted they called someone to fix the bent framing and the head of housekeeping came and told us that the next day while we were in port they would remove the furniture and reupholster it and fix it properly....he was great...Claudio and they did as promised but it was a little off putting to not be able to get comfy right off the bat..... Well....from here the problems got worse......we had just all laid down to nap and as soon as we drifted off our neighbors got to their cabin....all 5 of them...thats right all 5!! Parents with 3 children under the age of 8 one of whom was under a year old.....the fighting, crying, screaming from parents etc...started instantly and I just for the life of me couldn't fathom a family of this age on a trip like this......I still can't.....needless to say we immediately reached out to the staff about a room change and as usual "No Rooms at the Inn"....we were stuck with this circus next to us for 10 days...and it was a circus....baby crying in middle of the night...wall so thin I could hear every word said in their cabin when I laid in bed....they had breakfast delivered to their cabin every morning 6:30-7:00AM and never once showed any concern for their level of noise...babies you can't control but toddlers you can to some degree and they couldn't.....my two children were so upset being 23/21 and not being able to sleep-in was brutal.....to make matters worse....they would leave their room by 7:30 and their alarm clock would go off at 8AM....I had to leave them a note on their door about this..... This scenario of this young family next door really is what drove so much of our negativity about the cruise...the lack of sleep magnified every experience and again....I feel this was no place for children this age and in speaking to so many older passengers when they heard our story they couldn't believe it either.....now this family was part of a bigger family....we actually met their parents (the grandparents) of the little ones on a tender....I offered to switch rooms so they could be closer to their family and they just laughed...they knew what would happen if they were next to their kin.....they also had two other grandchildren on board one of whom was a newborn we met on a train in France....I'm sorry Grandparents..but why would you bring 5 children under the age of 8 on a trip like this...to me this is selfish.....I don't care what circumstances there may be in life and all looked very very healthy so I don't believe this was a bucket-list family cruise for them..... We had several meetings with the cruise personal about the issues we were experiencing and although they sent us flowers champagne, paid for dinner one night and ended up giving us a nominal certificate towards another trip some day $2500 it in no way could make up for this over $12,000 vacation......they actually said they would not reach out to the family and that we shouldn't confront them either......we asked for our internet packages be refunded as the service was terrible and they wouldn't do this which we thought was pretty cheap.....enough of "The Children of the Corn".....very, very disappointing..... Now for the other issues we had.... 1) Drink and internet packages/perks are a suck job...the fact that there is plastic all over the bottom of the ocean they use plastic water bottles in the restaurant and that if you don't show you have a drink package you get tap water......it was like showing your passport to fly and ridiculous to have a waiter pour water form a small plastic water bottle.....between the drinks and internet packages/perks this is a very, very sad consumer experience!!! 2) So Canyon Ranch runs the Spa on Celebrity.....well, we've been to Canyon Ranches on land and have been pampered to death....well, not the case on this ship....staff very ordinary and we paid for the "Persian Garden Experience" with the "Adult Only" pool area.....well three times my wife came out of the shower to find young children with their parent using the toilet in the locker room and one day a woman was breast feeding a baby right by the Adult Only pool....there was no policing of this policy and it was far from Canyon Ranch quality. 3) Dining room experience was not the service we were used to.....now I know I said the food was better then we thought it would be, but there is so much energy wasted on figuring out who has what drink package by the servers, sommeliers, etc....that to get more then 1 glass of wine at dinner was like pulling teeth....or getting a second drink....you pay for these packages but yet they bog down the entire service/experience you expect in the dining room....this was very, very annoying..... 4) Casino...staff friendly and pleasant, but Casino was small, and opened later then stated every night and not just by a few minutes.....I would have liked to have been able to utilize the Casino more..... 5) gift shops.....basically felt the shopping onboard was lame and wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't part of the ship...and liquor store never opened once the entire 10 day cruise. 6) Shore excursions don't seem to be worth the money...we had private tours arranged in several ports and did our own thing in others and saved hundreds of dollars doing this and felt we had a great experience in all ports we stopped in. In Sete France it cost us 50 Euro total to take the train to Mountpellier but if we did the tour for 4 it would have been close to $1000 Staff, Ship, Entertainment, Ports 10/10....over all experience and discomfort factor due to the above 3/10..... We chose this cruise because of the ports, thinking it would be great way to travel to these destinations without having pack and unpack. Our first impression of the ship was good, considering the negative reviews of the ship. All areas of the ship were kept clean and in good condition. Our cabin (9126) was on level 9, a good level to access the pool area and Buffet, but a bad area as it’s directly below this high traffic area. At all hours of the morning, day and nights, there is continual noise of trolley’s being rolled around above, and items being dropped on the floor. A few days into the cruise they had to perform maintenance on our bathroom (hot water issues with neighbouring rooms) which extended into the early evening. This was a bit of an inconvenience as we weren’t able to easily get ready for the evening with our friends, however guest services tried their best to make this as little a hassle for us as possible. The cabin problems persisted for a few days afterwards, and the staff did well to minimise the impact on us. However, considering this is Sold as a 5 star cruise, it really cheapened the overall experience for us, which is disappointing considering this was our second cruise with this company. As with any cruise, there was plenty of food. The selection was great and the service in the main dining areas was to the normal celebrity standard. The entertainment on the ship was great. They had a couple of guest acts that were exceptional. Although we chose this cruise for its ports, it turned out to be a negative as there were so many of them. With some of them (Toulon) a long way from anything of interest. Tip, research and book tours well in advance so that you are not left in a port with nothing to do. In Toulon in particular it was near impossible to get a cab to the main town centre, which wasn’t much to look at anyway. Read Less

Recently returned from a 10 night cruise from Rome to Barcelona in June on the Constellation. We have been on this ship once before to India and Asia about 2 years ago and really enjoyed it, unfortunately this time although we enjoyed the ports of call and to be fair thought the aqua class dining was still good and the staff overall worked hard to please the rest of the experience though was very average. The entertainment on board overall was hit and miss, the buffet restaurant was chaotic it was quantity over quality. The ship is need of a refurbishment which we understand is happening soon, the public areas were well worn and shabby. But the biggest disappointment was our cabin, we were in an aqua A1 which had a fab balcony overlooking the rear of the ship but numerous issues including poor water pressure, some evenings the shower would not function, broken drawers, thread bare sofa. Also anyone that books a cabin in this area needs to be aware it is just under the big cinema screen which plays a movie four times a day with booming sound, it was seriously annoying if you want a bit of piece & quiet, one evening it was going until midnight. We have travelled with Celebrity numerous times previously but feel the quality of previous trips has declined and they are not a 5 star operation in any way now unfortunately. Read Less

This is my 2nd Celebrity Cruise and it may be my last! The communication on the ship following severe weather and hitting another cruise ship was delayed, inconsistent and handled non-professionally by the captain and the officers. The lack of trained personnel to answer questions, to direct to appropriate resources and to effectively and timely offer solutions were non existent. Understanding that we had to miss 2 ports of call due to poor weather, new excursions were not offered, access to free internet was not communicated effectively to make changes to hotels and airlines and a minimal of ship activities were added when a partial sea day was added. After I waited 1 hour for internet access (only 2 computer terminals were available) an officer confiscated the computer I was about to use forcibly and would not let me sign out of my Gmail account. Besides missing the ports of Liverno and Portofino we lost a planned day in Rome upon the completion of the cruise. A scheduled debarkation time of 5 am to Civitavecchia was changed to 2:30 pm. Following the pick-up of our luggage we did not arrive in Rome till 6 pm when all churches and places to visit were closed. We requested compensation(suggested $ towards a future cruise) for the lack of professional and timely customer service, missed planned travel opportunities and the lack of sleep received the last night of the cruise due to officer announcements after midnight and a rattling noise in our stateroom caused by the increased speed of the ship to arrive at our final destination which was denied. What was amazing to us was the Celebrity Public Relations Officer Marie Kirk elaborated on the lack of professionalism of the staff, the inability to calm and comfort the passengers and the insufficient communication of the staff to resolve the issues. She stated the staff would need additional training despite the numerous complaints they had received. Marie requested invoices regarding missed tours and other expenses accrued due to an inability to contact vendors with travel changes and these were denied, too. Is this customer service? Read Less

I really loved the cruise up to the last 3 days! Food was excellent, service was good and the entertainment was good! I sailed with Celebrity to Alaska and I would say everything there was amazing. I expected the same with this cruise! That is why I chose CELEBRITY! I understand there is not much a captain can do on a ship when such bad weather occurs! However, not letting guest know what is going on when they can clearly see that things are not right is not being helpful! We count on you to be honest with us and you let your passengers down by not relaying information for hours and then waking people in the middle of night telling them to get out of bed and stand in blocked hallways to try to get to a customer relations desk ! I was not involved in the chaos, however, we were trying to help friends get off the ship! It was a madhouse! I appreciated and noted the response after the next morning with help for missed flights and hotel accommodations however, would that not have been more helpful to the people to offer that before the madhouse started? I would like to give Celebrity another chance because I loved seeing and cruising the Mediterranean and would like to share these sites with my husband! I hope you learned something about how not to share information quicker, provided internet quicker and to just bite the bullet a little sooner with all the accommodations that you ended up giving just a few hours later than the buses left! To begin with the positives, We enjoyed some parts of the cruise, it was a 11 night cruise and the ports, excursions and dining staff were fantastic. However, our last night we encountered horrible weather and had to dock in La Spezia missing our last two ports. Our ship broke the moorings on the dock and drifted away in the wind causing it to bump into the neighboring ship. Our family was very disappointed that there was no warning before the collision or any information shared with passengers that the ship had broke from the dock. No one was injured but that was just lucky because it could have been a bad collision and notice should be given immediately when that is happening. We then had to leave in the middle of the night by bus to go to Rome. Weather can always occur but we were very disappointed in the lack of communication from the Celebrity officers. Also, we have two small children and one should know that this ship does not have many young family amenities. The indoor pool is adult only and the outdoor pool is not heated so we had no pool to use when it got chilly. There is a kids room upstairs on deck 11. Overall it caters to older adults. Read Less

Hi, Overall the cruise was good but I'm second guessing the overall value. The Luminae restaurant was great as was their staff. Our Butler (Sebastian) and Stateroom Attendant (Tumin) were great. The Shore Excursions team was not the best. We booked the Portofino, Rapallo, & St. Margherita excursion and quite simply it has to rank up there with one of the worst excursions ever. There were 7 tour groups on this excursion (approximately 300 people). And, Celebrity thought it was smart to have everyone hop off the tender, to get crammed on another boat (with approximately all 300 people) to get you on a boat to Rapallo. The excursion was so bad that everyone was complaining. We complained to the Excursions team, but nothing was done. We also went down to the private excursions office to find out more about their offerings - instead of the big group offerings (this was the 3rd night of the cruise) and they didn't get back to us until the 2nd to last night of the cruise. Huh? What poor service. I noted this to Celebrity in our cruise survey, to give me a call, but I haven't heard from them. We ended up taking one more excursion (which we could cancel because of the cancellation policy as it was the next day). Then from there on our we did our own thing hiring taxis. I would suggest to Celebrity to work with the local taxi companies and get some waiting at the port. Toulon was a bust. There were no taxis available outside the port and you had to walk half an hour to get to a taxi stand. And, in Sete, there were also no taxi's available for hire. As another person pointed out, the movie area on the ship was great, but the choice of movies was horrible. Music on the ship was limited as some of the entertainers take 2 nights off in a row. I've never seen that on a cruise ship. Also, this cruise didn't have lectures on sea days like other cruises we've been on in the past. I'm not sure why, but we're not ones to enjoy the poolside volleyball or ring toss games. I'd rather listen to more information about the area we're visiting. Disembarkation wasn't that great. We waited in line over an hour for a taxi to get us to our hotel. There were only 5 or 6 taxis at a time taking people from the port, while hundreds were in line. Why can't this be fixed? Overall Celebrity does an ok job, but I might be more inclined to try another cruise line like Viking for our next trip. Read Less

My wife and I made this cruise to get rest, and this is what we got but we have some comments about the trip The crew and the overall situation was wat we expected for a 4 star cruise but the dining situation was not something for a 4 star cruise ship it look more a standard meal on a ferry for truckdrivers than for people who made a cruise for a lot of money. several times we ask wat is there on ore plate can you give me a magnifying glass almost no vis to get alone mead and a very little complements but overcook and toastless. This is for the ala carte restaurant and the buffet I have eat for 6 days steak so that I have the feeling that there was something in my stomach. A other point of cretic is that every time we want of the ship in a port we need to pay extra for this bus ore the tender something We want to know before we made the trip. This don’t mean that we don’t enjoy or trip in the Mediterranean zee We enjoy the ship, crew and the company of the rest of the passengers. We chose Celebrity as our past experiences have been good with the entire Royal Caribbean group, including Celebrity and Azamara. Sad to report that Celebrity standards gave fallen, quality of onboard staff seems to have deteriorated and clearly they need to be retrained. 1. Check in at cruise terminal in Civataveccia Rome was smooth and quick 2. Suites had not been properly checked - light bulbs not working, remote controls not working, toilet seats not cleaned 3. Butler service has become pathetic with poorly trained staff with very little domain knowledge and even less initiative - 4. Housekeeping very poor - rooms not vaccuum cleaned properly, mosquitoes in room, supplies not replenished routinely, no more towel sculptures ? Constant finger pointing between housekeeper and butler was really annoying 5. Laundry - mixed up clothes wit those from others rooms, clothes smelled awful, looked crushed and were late being returned 6. Shore Excursions - the WORST ever - serpentine lines, poorly scheduled and managed tendering, unhelpful staff , time wasted in grouping and inefficient group mustering, disorganised and chaotic 7. Senior crew on board were personally very polite and helpful but there should not be a need to escalate matters to seniors each time 8. Celebrity has tried to put too many things on an interactive on screen tv menu but when it is too complex to navigate or needs to be reset too often it is a futile exercise Read Less

There were four adults in our party. We chose the Jet Set Sail for the second time because we knew it would be an excellent start to our holiday, we were not disappointed, it was just as we remembered....& we will definitely do it again. Embarkation was smooth & we were pleased with our cabin which was kept very clean by our cabin steward throughout the holiday, a friendly young man. It was however very noisy at around 5am each day when the sun beds were dragged across the deck. As we were Aqua Class again we were in the Blu restaurant....definitely no complaints there. As usual we also dined in Quisine & Tuscan & both lived up to expectations. We didn't go to the theatre on this cruise as we were socialising with people that we had met & so missed many good acts. We did however visit the casino each evening, my guilty pleasure while cruising.... Lunch in the cafeteria was exactly the same each day so we quickly lost interest in that. Unfortunately too much time couldn't be spent round the pool due to the fact that there were so many unsupervised young children in the pools & hot tubs. We did try using the solarium but the same thing happened there...neither children nor parents paid any attention to the pool butlers when they were asked to leave. Definitely not enough security to back them up. It was like being on a Disney cruise without Micky Mouse. We will think twice before sailing on Constellation again!! I have ticked family cruise in the boxes below as this is what it appeared to be as there were just so many children. We have been on Celebrity cruises before where there were children, but all were well behaved with thoughtful parents. Read Less

We had never before sailed with Celebrity but have done so with several other cruise lines. Our Jet Set Sail package was attractively priced and enticed us to book. The outward flight was good and there was a smooth transfer to the ship. Constellation was what we expected it to be, clean with good food, and polite staff. The ports of call were good choices but the shore excursion prices were well off the scale - come on Celebrity you can price things much lower. For half the price of a single person's trip you can get taxis willing to take you to the same places and more. The ship's own theatre entertainment team was nothing special - sat behind the theatre sound desk one night - six people singing but only 3 mics lit up - so 3 were mimimg to the backing track??? However the "guest" acts were excellent. Also did not understand why the other entertainers that performed around the ship only had 45 minute slots before they had to pack up and move on to another venue onboard. During the day there was not a lot of activities compared to other cruise lines, however we did enjoy the daily quizzes on general Knowledge and music. The cabin we had was spacious and well appointed with an attentive and pleasant steward. All in all the cruise was enjoyable but not exciting. Then came the nightmare of the return journey home after a cancelled flight which showed up a lack of customer care. No drinks, no food, no advice for nearly five hours after the original flight time - by the research of the 85 passengers concerned it was our collective belief that Celebrity had known there was a long delay in the flight departure before we diembarked the ship and had failed to act upon it. Overnight stay and repatriation via Heathrow and coach transfer to Stansted appreciated but again a lack of care as nothing to eat or drink provided for the journey - something we had already paid for via Jet Set Sail. Yes we have been offered compensation but we are still awaiting payment from the airline Celebrity chartered and also expenses paid claimed from Celebrity - this is the automatic response from an email sent to Celebrity - Thank you for contacting our Customer Relations department, this is an automated confirmation that your email has been received. We are reviewing your comments and one of our team will contact you in due course. We aim for this to be within 28 days. This was our first 7 day cruise aboard Celebrity. We found that half way into the cruise it was all about how to get off the ship. It made our vacation feel shorter. Embarking at Civitavecchia was not as smooth as I had experienced at other ports. Felt disorganized and there really was no advantage given to Concierge Class guests. The rooms were typical cabins. Older furniture inside but newer chairs on the veranda. Our beds were not comfortable at all and we woke with back aches each morning. The carpet looked like it could have used s good cleaning. Our cabin steward was good but he was clearly overworked and had many cabins to tend to. We are at two specialty restaurants; Sushi on 5 and QSine. We didn’t expect the Sushi restaurant to charge a la carte but that wasn’t a big issue. The sushi was ok but not great by any means. Service was average. The dinner at QSine was the seafood menu. Big disappointment here. We were seated near the front of the restaurant and the noise coming from the kitchen was very loud. So loud in fact that the maitre d had to tell them twice to keep their voices down. There’s also a door to the right as you enter the restaurant that banged closed every 30 seconds and drove me nuts. The food was good. The service rushed. The food in the Oceanfront (buffet) was pretty much the same - every night. There also weren’t enough bar stewards. By the time we got our drinks we were done with dinner. We ate in the main dining room only twice. The service was slow but the food was good here. The others at the table started talking politics so we decided not to return. The Martini bar on 4 was awesome. Highly recommend this area. As for onboard activities, there really weren’t many options. Steer clear from the bingo (very expensive and only 4 games!!). The casino has a few newer slots but most were very old. Overall this was a disappointing 5th cruise for us. The ship is too old, there isn’t enough staff and the food was not good. We will try Azamara next. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary which included several ports we hadn't been to before. We had a Sky suite after having been aqua before but I'm not really sure what the advantages actually were. Our Butler did nothing and forgot to do the things we asked . I've had much better service from our cabin stewards .So I would not pay all that extra money next time ,using the money instead on Specialty restaurants, excursions drinks etc. As we had a drinks package we preferred the other bars to Michaels . Luminea is a lovely restaurant with an amazing staff but many times we'd ask for things off the othe restaurant menus . Celebrity will have to watch with so much completion ,the prices for everything were really inflated:- Internet .no real package choice ,$295 for unlimited minutes Speciality Restaurants $45 a head Classic drinks package only covers drinks up to $9 but so many glasses of wine, cocktails ,liqueurs were $10+ Shore excursions ..very pricey we used small independent local shore excursion providers with only 8-10 in a mini van In room Tv programmes very limited with pay for on demand movies (on Princess in July these were all free) Saying that the weather was fabulous ,seas calm and the ports all fantastic apart from Sete, So we had a fabulous holiday .But Celebrity used to be my No1 ,I've had second thoughts! I was forced to choose this cruise because Celebrity relocated Equinox to the Caribbean after I had booked a Greek Island Cruise on her, so in fairness this cruise was 'second choice'. I had cruised on Constellation many years ago before the launching of the Solstice Class ships which I have cruised on very happily for some years. Constellaion, is not in the same league as the Solstice class ships. Despite a recent visit to the dry dock she looks dated and lacks charisma.'Over painting ' may have looked good at first but rust is already breaking through. The sun beds had not been replaced just frame painted which was scratched and scuffed after a short time.Upholstery had been replaced in some ares and this brightened the interior a little.Loungers with cushions brightened and gave comfort on the sun deck, but all other loungers were without pads. Concierge Cabin was OK and well serviced but no Sparkling wine or flowers this trip. Restaurants:¨Ocean view, Lay out confusing at first food mediocre and often cool Main Restaurant, food of a good standard but noisey Tuscan excellent in every respect The biggest disappointment was the removal of The Murano to be replaced by Sushi on 5, what a let down! The loss of this restaurant would definitely stop me booking Constellation again, Generally Officers were seen and polite, on social occasions friendly. Many staff were cheerful and accommodating but some, appeared to lack interest. There was a general lack of atmosphere in most of the bars except the Martini Bar which as always generated a good atmosphere. Finally I enjoyed the cruise partly down to the good weather and The Tuscan Grill which served superior food. Would I book again, unlikely on Constellation Read Less

We chose this cruise for the Itinerary and hopefully the time of year and value...and it did not disappoint in that regard. We had amazing weather. This was our third time on Constellation in three years, so we were doing a lot of comparing. The ship is comfortable but dull. The food has gone downhill. We believe this may be because they are really pushing the specialty restaurants. The buffet has lots of variety, but much of it tastes like cafeteria food. You are best served sticking to the salads and the grilled and carved foods. The afternoon tea time offerings are kind of fun, and if they work out with arrival on the ship after a long day of touring and exhaustion, it is enjoyable to take it back to your cabin or on deck for sail away. The dining dinners were just ok as far as my review goes, but the staff is wonderful. I had two really good dinners early in the cruise, but the options seemed to go downhill. The entertainment was ok, nothing special. We are not gamblers, but the casino seemed to be quiet. This is a hectic itinerary, so maybe people were just tired. What makes this cruise are the staff, who are really great, and the cruisers, who are friendly. If you stay open to opportunities to meet people, you can make a lot of friends...and they might just save your cruise...read on. We had an "interesting" experience our fifth day, and second At Sea day. I woke up really sick with cruise crud...sinus infection, cough, the works. Two new friends we had met on board fixed me up with Emergen-C, Zicam, even prednisone for a few days. Lesson learned...ask your doctor to give you an antibiotic to take with you JUST IN CASE, and bring every possible over the counter drug you can think of. You can get run down from all the touring, lack of sleep, etc. That night, still not feeling great, we went to bed relatively early...11ish, and we were awakened at midnight by screaming in the hallway. Long story short, a hot water pipe burst on deck 2, flooding around six or eight cabins, including ours. The Celebrity staff handled it as best they could...shop vacs, relocating passengers in the middle of the night. It took awhile, but by 2:30 AM we had moved temporarily to a stateroom on deck 9. The next morning we were exhausted and they were still shopvac-ing on deck 2, so we asked to move permanently to our new room. Guest services complied, and although we hated to say goodbye to our amazing stateroom attendant Jay, we moved everything to 9, and gained a balcony for no extra charge. Celebrity basically rebuilt the flooded rooms while we cruised...new carpet, new furnishings, etc. Not sure how everyone else was compensated, but we were pleased. They offered us a night at a Specialty restaurant....no drinks, but free dinner...and we chose Tuscan Grill. It was great, but I was still pretty sick, and didn't last til dessert. Towards the end of the cruise, we received future cruise credit as well, for our inconvenience. The only other thing I would warn cruisers about, especially regarding this itinerary. The big stops...Cadiz, Marseille, Livorno and Civitavecchia...require a decent amount of travel time if you want to go to Seville, Provence, Florence, or Rome. Be forewarned that you will be getting up very early to make tour connections, and doing a lot of driving. Gibraltar was a pleasant surprise for me...don't let the videos of the Barbary Apes scare you. A good tour guide will make sure you have a safe, fun and interactive experience with them. Eat at Ray's Fish and Chips...nothing special, but decent and affordable. One portion is definitely enough for two. Alicante, Sete and Corsica are beautiful but smaller ports, so figure out what you plan to do ahead of time, especially eating in port. In Alicante we did a "free" walking tour that we enjoyed, and then explored on our own, but we weren't sure where to eat. We lucked up with a local tapas place called El Pale, but we just found it by accident. Sete was kind of dead with lots of the shops closed, but again we got lucky in a local restaurant called Le Gout du Jour. Corsica had a farmer's market in the port, and we did the double decker bus tour which was fine...opt for a boat tour if you are more adventurous and don't mind spending the cash. Thanks to Thor for lots of touring ideas and organization, to Debbie D and Terry and Marsha for healing me! Read Less

We have been sailing with Celebrity for a number of years, and was pretty disappointed in this cruise! I know the ship was in dry dock this past Spring for upgrades, but the ship certainly did not reflect any! We were Aqua Class, however, it certainly was not worth the added cost! We (3 couples) found Blu to be quite disappointing this time around! Some evenings we went to Blu, but ordered from the main dining room menu! The staff in Blu was great, but the food left a little to be desired. One evening we dined at Tuscan, and were not impressed at all! Last year, while on the Silouhette, we dined at Tuscan twice, and the food was exceptional! Well worth the added charge. While our Cabin steward was wonderful, the cabin itself was rather sorry looking (I meant to take pictures)! The drapes were hanging off the slider because drapery hooks were missing! The bed skirt was torn in several spots, and the railings on the balcony were peeling and rusty! The noise over our cabin was ridiculous!!! Nearly every evening (between midnight and 1:00AM) it sounded as if furniture was being dragged around! Perhaps decks were being washed! We only did one of the ships excursions, as we personally find you get more bang for the buck! I have been a big fan of Celebrity for years! This cruise left me with second thoughts for the next! An ok cruise definitely not my favourite have sailed with celebrity before and I think they have got very greedy charging extra for everything such as shuttles from ports like Sicily which are a dump so they know everyone will pay to go on trips or to the town. I was upset by a member of the dining staff who on two consecutive mornings said loudly I was eating too much butter I was completely humiliated and on the second morning went to reception in tears. The entertainment was good and enjoyed Valencia. Food at lunch not very hot but at night in dining room very nice . I will not be travelling with celebrity again much prefer Princess better value for money. The port at Catania was terrible have no idea why they would stop here . Also bar service was not good at all didn't seem many staff at all. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the destination. We boarded the ship in Venice and overall check-in was very good. Our outside cabin was located on deck 2, right above the exit....You can imagine the noise we had to put up with. There were only 2 sea days, which means that we heard the noise 9 mornings out of 11. Even if we wanted to sleep in on some mornings, we could'nt. We were at the second seating in the main dining room. Food was OK but not great. We are used to great food on Celebrity. I had to return some plates because they were too salty which has never happened on Celebrity. Overall the ship still looks ok but needs a bit of a face lift. The cabins are "tired". In need of new furniture and bedding. However service was great all over the ship. No complaints there! Read Less

Having just taken a Holland America cruise (which I enjoyed very much), my expectations were high coming into this one. Unfortunately, it fell short in the biggest area for me, the food. First, let me start by saying that I thought the ship was very nice, with a bright, cheery decor. The staff was wonderful, the embarkation/disembarkation very smooth, the special performers memorable, etc. I basically view the ship as transportation from one port to another, instead of as the destination of the trip itself, so in that it was a success. I had a big issue with the fact that there were only pay-per-view movies available in the room ($14.98 a shot). The last cruise I was on offered complimentary movies that mirrored what I found on the air flight to the embarkation city. I thought that was now a standard offering on all cruises, but apparently not. But now for the reason for the average rating. I found the food to be mediocre. Not only that, but for the most part, people served themselves from the buffet. Food in the back row of serving dishes were often not easily accessible to those with short arms. On three separate occasions, I saw people who were completely under the food guard reaching for food. Having just been on a Holland America cruise, where food was almost always dished out for you by servers, this was very surprising (and not in a good way). Half way through the cruise, both I and my spouse became ill, and spent the remainder of the cruise eating the blandest food possible (baked chicken breast and white rice) whenever we were on the ship. Oddly enough, things seemed to be better when we were off the ship and eating from places where we were docked. We had been drinking the water from the dispensers on the ship, so we're not sure if it was the food or the water that was the cause of our stomach issues. Between the issue with the food and the lack of complimentary movies in the room, I do not plan on cruising with Celebrity again. Read Less

I have to admit that I was spoiled by having been on the Reflection in January. Not only was the ship beautiful, but it had an amazing attentive staff. This ship was the functional opposite. Cleaning the room consisted of leaving every old half consumed item exactly where it had been left and service in the dining room meant waiting 20 to 30 minutes per course (which would be ok, if your companions weren't finished with their mean in the interim). I ordered a birthday cake for my friend (at a $29 charge) and not only did we have to wait 20 minutes for it after the entrees, but then we had to wait for the plates and forks. Once they brought those, we couldn't get tea and coffee for another 10 minutes until I got up and physically found the Assitant Maitre D'. To his credit, the Assistant Maitre D' from Croatia ( I believe his name was Milan) went out of his way to try to make up for the terrible food and service in the dining room. As to the quality of the food, I saw that other reviewers reported it to be fine. This may be because they were eating in Aqua or in the specialty restaurants. Also, these people probably eat their foods sauced, which I do not, which covers up cheap ingredients. I realized too late in the trip that we should have paid extra in order to get edible food. The captain and senior officers clearly knew this, since they never ate in the dining room. That should have given me the clue. Towards the end of the cruise I went to Sushi on 5 and both the staff and the food were wonderful. Our group was treated to a dinner at Tuscany the last night, and while it was not as good as it was on the Reflection, it was certainly lovely. As to the dining room and buffet food, it consisted of tasteless tomatoes from cold storage, cheap frozen spinach defrosted into a watery mess, white rice which was so bad that when I asked my dining companion to sample she involuntarily spit it out, stir fries which were overcooked and over salted, french fries that tasted like they were from a t.v. dinner heated in the microwave, etc. The quality of the food rivaled an elementary school cafeteria, not an alleged premium cruise line. As to the rest of the ship, it is old and tired. It has that worn, need to be renovated look. The Good: Embarkation- Absolutely up to Celebrity standards. Quick, efficient and easy. Pool- Thalassotherapy was an absolute delight. If the ports weren't so good, we could have stayed there for days. Entertainment- Jenny Cho was amazing. The other shows were a delight. Itinerary- Could not have been better. Read Less

We've cruised Constellations 3 times and this will be the last one. We opted for Aqua Class and we were a little disappointed with the Persian Garden. It was noisey and had benches as opposed to individual beds with NO VIEW. Small area. Cabin was dated and looked a bit run down. You can see the wear and tear of the 17yr old ship. Musical entertainment minimal and they played for very short periods, could have used more live music for longer periods of time. The one show we did see was not the greatest. Love the 'silent disco' - great fun. Staff seemed overworked/stressed and definitely understaffed. Room stewards don't have assistance anymore and they are cleaning at a surface level because they can't get around to doing a 'full' cleaning. BLU was our favourite part and the food was great. Bartenders are mostly attentive and the staff at Bacio are always welcoming. Read Less

We chose the cruise because of the itinerary. We previously cruised on the Constellation in 2012. The ship is a bit tired, staffing needs improvement. Dining staff ineffective, they did not respond to the needs of our group. Dining experience was terrible, though the menu was average. Specialty Restaurant, Tuscan Grill was wonderful. Room Steward was great! Production shows were terrible, guest entertainers were great. Ports of call were fabulous, though I would not recommend using ships transfers. We had a horrible experience in Palma de Mallorca. A 20 minute wait for the shuttle turned into 1.5 hours in a torrential storm. Complained about it, and NOTHING was done!! Shuttle Service does not belong to Celebrity, so they didn't care. Embarkation/Debarkation was quick and effective. Cruise Director was a delight. Staffing not sufficient for a ship this size. Will not likely cruise on the particular ship again, but will definitely continue to cruise with Celebrity. Read Less

We sailed with celebrity before and booked this cruise on the last one because we enjoyed it so much. Constellation was a disappointment. We went Jet set sail which was fine this end. Nearly 2 hour wait for our luggage with no information meant a poor start. No welcome on arrival. Poor bar service was an issue throughout compared to last cruise. Staff in Blu were amazing but service was wanting in other areas. There were other issues which although raised with guest relations were not sorted. Celebrity did not want to know either on board or after writing to them. Excursions to Split and Montenegro were interesting but the latter included a forced and unexpected fashion show at a leather showroom. We never felt relaxed as we had done on our last cruise. However the entertainment was much improved. The Cardinals were excellent entertaining in the lounges. The guest shows were much better than our previous cruise. Read Less

Chose because of port itinerary. Did a back to back from Venice to Rome and Rome to Barcelona. We always travel Aqua Class and found that this time in our first room which was 9090 and was also the same room for 2nd cruise was VERY NOISY.... 2nd cruise they moved us (because of noise) to 1120 where it was just as NOISY and we were not the only passengers to complain. I even opened up the door at midnight to find kids running up and down the hallways. We have traveled many times on Celebrity and were very disappointed in this cruise (lack of many items that escalated to the unhappiness) -- the only GREAT experience was that of the BLU DINING STAFF - they were outstanding... never did Q-sine as we didn't like it on Millenium.... have been disappointed with the fact that they changed Bistro on 5 to a Sushi Restaurant, and Tuscan was just OK -- and ..... CELEBRITY charged for a special lunch at TUSCAN (on a sea day); and they started charging for the OUTSIDE grill area ... thus "nickel and diming" you for small things - There were many children on 2nd half of the back 2 back - with no PARENTAL SUPERVISION - and they let their children do whatever they wanted without regard to the time of day and other passengers on the ship! The entertainment was so so, some front staff was exceptional and others were not -- the first leg we had an outbreak of a virus and on the 2nd cruise there were passengers handling the fruit (peaches, plums, etc.) on the buffet looking for ripe ones - who wants to touch the fruit after witnessing this! It would be better if the staff just dished out the food - so those who do not sanitize don't infect the rest of the people. Rest rooms could have been more kept up. Our experience on the Millineum was so much more "homey" ... the Captain (Niklaus) came around and met and greeted as many passengers as he could. He was always accessible ... we didn't even know the Captain on this ship ... he never made many announcements - as Captain Niklaus did - every morning he gave an upbeat good morning etc. World of difference.
