We chose the cruise because of the itinerary but also because we prefer to cruise with Celebrity. This was our first ime on a Millenium Class ship having sailed on Solstice class many times. The public rooms and other areas on Constellation were beautifully maintained and had been refurbished recently re carpets soft furnishings etc. Our cabin was comfortable, spacious, had new carpets, beds and bedding. The decor is dated, though functional. I am assuming this will be upgraded as part of the May 2020 upgrade "revolution".The shower area is spacious but I would prefer a glass shower door. Our only gripe was the slightly "stiff to open" balcony door. This was reported both on board and in the post cruise survey as "needing attention". Plenty of storage in the cabin, though no over-bed storage as on Solstice class and we could not get our suitcases under the bed ( the same suitcases fit under Solstice class beds). We put them in the wardrobe. We found the balconies were shorter, front to back than on Solstice. Our steward was pleasant and quietly efficient. He seemed to sense when we were out and magically refreshed the room to perfection again. Just what you want in a steward. We had chosen Select Dining in the San Marco ( Main) dining room. Select dining is on the lower floor, fixed dining on the upper floor, the opposite to Solstice class. We had also pre-booked a dining time, before boarding, so had no waiting time for a table in the evening. There were two desks on arrival, one for those with reservations, one for those without reservations. The dining room has a "colonial style" decor which we liked. The food and service was excellent at all times. Could not fault the food at all. We had an invite to dine in Qsine one evening with two senior members of staff, and had a better experience than our first time in Qsine on another ship, a couple of years ago. We were brought everything to sample, so it was quite special. The food was excellent, in particular the lamb chops and the "lava crab" . I am not a fan of the Ipad ordering idea.... an unnecessary gimmick. We enjoyed breakfasts of fresh fruit, smoked salmon , coffee etc...not forgetting in particular the yummy, warm mini almond croissants....in Tuscan Grill, which is midships on Constellation. We were impressed by the Rendezvous Bar which comprises a small stage area, dance floor with surrounding tables/seating areas. There is a bar at the rear of the lounge with bar seating. This we prefer to the Ensemble lounge arrangement on deck 5 Solstice class, which seems too much like a "corridor" . The entertainment changed a few times nightly in the Rendezvous Bar,and we thoroughly enjoyed solo artists, duos and small groups, Izzie & Mo, Ultraviolet to name just two. The bar service was entertaining and very efficient. We were spoilt with choice re entertainment but managed to attend two of the shows. Rietta Austin was excellent and had a wonderful vocal range. Paul Baya the cruise director is also a wonderful singer and his voice reminded me of Andrea Bocelli. Beautiful. We enjoyed two Celebrity organised tours. From Livorno...Florence by train on a Sunday was a success. A coach took us to the railway station and then a train whisked us comfortably into Florence. We had a tour guide, Angelika, who gave us a map and lots of tips, answered lots of questions on the train trip and said that we could join her on a walk through Florence's main sights, if we wished, leaving her at any point. This was really a "Florence on your own tour" so you could just do your own thing. This guided tour was a very pleasant unexpected extra. The 46 strong party dwindled as people drifted off but having never been to Florence before, we ( and about another 12 people) stayed with Angelika until reaching the Ponte Vecchio viewing area by the river. We then chose to wander and find somewhere on our own for lunch, which wasn't difficult. We relaxed with pasta and red wine and then gently meandered past the magnificent architecture back to the meeting point at the station. Had we wanted to go inside any of the buildings, the queues were long and it was a warm day. We were happy just taking in the atmosphere and marvelling at the buildings from the exterior. There were crowds but it was not as busy as we expected it to be. Our second excursion was to Carcasonne from Sete. This medieval town, reached by coach is wonderful. Not as we expected, as there is a fully functional small town within the fortress walls with hotels, shops, restaurants etc...but lots of history too. We had a good guide who pointed out things you would have missed and told stories which transported you back in time. We had plenty of time to wander on our own , visit the main citadel, have lunch etc. before meeting for the return journey. We encountered problems on the motorway on the way back...a traffic accident and extensive, bad traffic queues, but had no anxiety re arriving back late ( and we did) as we were on a Celebrity organised tour. Other than these two tours we explored on our own. We took the ship's tender (free) into Portofino and, as we had been before, we found and walked on part of the Ligurian way eventually rejoining a path by the road and arrived in Santa Margherita ( 4 miles away) at lunchtime, for more pasta and red wine...well, why not? We caught the frequent bus back. Tickets cold be obtained from the machine by the tourist office...3 Euros each. Villefranche, we tendered in and wandered round the town as this was our first visit ...but we did some research whilst there and it would have been very easy to catch a train to Nice or Monte Carlo. We have been to Monte Carlo twice before but never by train....maybe next time. Toulon , we decided to have a day on board, the ship docked at La Seyne sur Mer, across the bay from Toulon and a shuttle was offered for $20 each. Maybe it wasn't just another retail opportunity, and maybe next time we would go on a tour but we had a lovely view from the ship across the busy bay and gave it a miss this time. We do feel that if Celebrity choose to dock in places which necessitate a paid shuttle then they should bear this cost. The Ibiza shuttle was 10 Euros for a day pass each, the Pama de Majorca shutlle was 10 Euros return each Disembarkation day came too soon but was very well organised. Too soon we were on our way home. But...we had booked another cruise on board so something to look forward to. We would have no hesitation in booking another cruise to sail on Celebrity Constellation. Read Less

Need to start this review by saying we had a great holiday, we travelled with friends, the literary was great and the weather fantastic. In our opinion there are lots of positives and we can only speak about our own experiences. We travelled using the Jet Sail offer - this we found to be excellent - we rocked up at Stansted parked the car and within no time we were sitting in a very comfortable lounge drinking wine, coffee, tea or juice along with nibbles. Breakfast on the flight was really nice and in no time at all we were landing at an old airbase. Coach was waiting, off to the ship and next thing we knew we were on the ship enjoying our first G & T. The return journey is slightly different - no private lounge and we were delayed by two hours due to the weather. Still a good flight home and from landing to driving off from the airport it took no more than 20 minutes!!!!! We booked Aqa class as we always do - this ensures we get to eat in the Blu restaurant which we particularly enjoy. I have to say the food, service and attention to detail was absolutely fantastic and made our breakfast and particularly our evening dining experience one of the highlights of our holiday. The sommelier was brilliant and we never once had an empty glass. Our cabin was clean and well kept by our attendant who made sure we had everything we needed. Overall we thought the ship was kept very clean although some times the public toilets might have been better. The Officers on the ship including the Captain were almost invisible - on all our other Celebrity cruises the Captain, his cruise director and other top officers have always been very engaging. Never once saw the Captain, would no know who the cruise director was and never once was asked by any senior member of staff about our holiday. The entertainment on the ship was frankly very poor. There was a duo Izzy & Mo who were excellent but apart from them it was awful. We did the Silent Disco one night an that was brilliant and we looked forward to going again when they repeated the evening on deck but the music was awful, very few people dancing and gradually everyone left which was very disappointing. We found all the staff to be very helpful and everyone was working hard to ensure we had a good holiday. The bar staff were very busy at times so just be patient and all is good in the end. The days at sea were again busy and finding a lounger with a bit of room is almost impossible. We do not like being cramped around the pool so we are happy to sit on our balcony and read etc - but that was a problem. We were on this ship two years ago and I am sure this is a new thing that has been introduced - on the top deck is now an outside cinema that shows fits five times a day - no problem with that except if your stateroom (like ours was) is at the back of the ship then the noise from the film is a big issue. We, and others complained and to be fair they did turn down the volume but it was still loud and was not good. Why can they not simply give headphones to the people who want to watch the film? The ports were great and we enjoyed each and every one of them, we always sort our own trips so unable to comment on the Celebrity excursions but lots of people said to us they found them very expensive. We really like the Celebrity brand, you know you will get a good holiday, we feel tat although they are not cheap you do get good value for money. But we would not sail on the Constellation again . . . as many other posters have mentioned the ship is now showing its age and Celebrity need to sort this out sooner than later. For instance on the Eclipse you can sit in some of the bars and enjoy music and watch people dancing on the auditorium - this cannot happen on this ship and the rooms where music and dancing take place have no atmosphere and are dark and dingy. We were considering a cruise to Asia later this year on this ship but have decided to put that on hold as 14 days with several sea days on the ship is unfortunately not for us. Read Less

My wife and I made this cruise to get rest, and this is what we got but we have some comments about the trip The crew and the overall situation was wat we expected for a 4 star cruise but the dining situation was not something for a 4 star cruise ship it look more a standard meal on a ferry for truckdrivers than for people who made a cruise for a lot of money. several times we ask wat is there on ore plate can you give me a magnifying glass almost no vis to get alone mead and a very little complements but overcook and toastless. This is for the ala carte restaurant and the buffet I have eat for 6 days steak so that I have the feeling that there was something in my stomach. A other point of cretic is that every time we want of the ship in a port we need to pay extra for this bus ore the tender something We want to know before we made the trip. This don’t mean that we don’t enjoy or trip in the Mediterranean zee We enjoy the ship, crew and the company of the rest of the passengers. We chose Celebrity as our past experiences have been good with the entire Royal Caribbean group, including Celebrity and Azamara. Sad to report that Celebrity standards gave fallen, quality of onboard staff seems to have deteriorated and clearly they need to be retrained. 1. Check in at cruise terminal in Civataveccia Rome was smooth and quick 2. Suites had not been properly checked - light bulbs not working, remote controls not working, toilet seats not cleaned 3. Butler service has become pathetic with poorly trained staff with very little domain knowledge and even less initiative - 4. Housekeeping very poor - rooms not vaccuum cleaned properly, mosquitoes in room, supplies not replenished routinely, no more towel sculptures ? Constant finger pointing between housekeeper and butler was really annoying 5. Laundry - mixed up clothes wit those from others rooms, clothes smelled awful, looked crushed and were late being returned 6. Shore Excursions - the WORST ever - serpentine lines, poorly scheduled and managed tendering, unhelpful staff , time wasted in grouping and inefficient group mustering, disorganised and chaotic 7. Senior crew on board were personally very polite and helpful but there should not be a need to escalate matters to seniors each time 8. Celebrity has tried to put too many things on an interactive on screen tv menu but when it is too complex to navigate or needs to be reset too often it is a futile exercise Read Less

This was our firs cruise experience so this review will help you if you've never cruised before. We got married in Rome so started the cruise from there for a 10 day trip around the med finishing in Barcelona. Obviously not cruising before we had no idea what to expect! Embarkation was smooth, we were greeted by smiling staff offering sparkling wine(?) and we were overwhelmed by the ship in all honesty. The ship is grand and beautiful, there was some live music being played by an acoustic duo in the main stairwell area which made our first experiencing extremely smooth and relaxing. We had a wonder round and took in many of the different areas of the ship to gain some understanding of how to 'to cruise'. Cabin We opted for the Concierge Class. The room itself was great, spacious and the balcony was a great size and private. Bathroom was small and you could not fit 2 people in there at one time, but I can imagine this is probably the same in most ships. There is a decent size dressing table with lots of mirrors so you can look your best before leaving your room! Bed was extremely comfy and you had multiple pillow options when concierge class. We didn't really benefit from the Concierge, mostly because she was not available for the first day of our cruise, I am sure she was helping other guests, but we had questions regarding our drinks package etc that we just figured out ourselves or asked members of staff. What we did benefit from being Concierge class was a backstage tour of the kitchen area which was complementary as part of concierge class. It's only a quick tour but does give you an insight to the extremely busy and complex kitchen arrangements. Dining We took the opportunity to dine all suited and booted however the same cannot be said for other guests, which is just sad. We ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet which does have a really good range of food and the queues are minimal considering how many people are on the boat. However when dining in the buffet of an evening, you are sharing the experiencing with people still in swim shorts etc which just ruins it slightly. After a couple of days we booked in to the San Marco restaurant every night. We had pretty much the same table and waiter each night which is far better quality. I am quite fussy when it comes to food, so I ate French Onion soup and Steak pretty much the entire time which was delicious. My wife had various other dishes but again, the food quality was very high. As a couple you are put on either a 2 space table or out on a big table with other guests. As anti social as we are, we requested the individual 2 person table where there is minimal room between the tables but does not impact your experience too much. Entertainment The entertainment is good and ranges from musicals to magicians. The onboard entertainments team perform multiple times during the cruise, and this becomes a little boring. There is an acoustic duo that play twice a day most days of the cruise in various locations of the ship and they are brilliant to listen to. After the last show (10pm) there is no real entertainment. So if you visit the earlier show (7pm) you will be stuck for things to do after, other than the overpriced casino. There are daily sports activities which involve table tennis and quizes that are hosted by the activities team, there's not much of a budget for this but its still something extra to do. There are enough sun beds to cover even on sea days, just make sure you get down there before 10am. Of course theres still the usual people throwing towels down at 6am but theres enough room and lounges to cover. The pools are ok and decent size, the indoor salt pool is lovely and we spent a lot of time in there. There is a spa at an additional cost which is always put in front of you. They are very keen on upsells on this ship and you will always find extra ways to part with your cash. Didn't spend any time in the casino (Other than having to walk through it to get to the theatre) as it was expensive. $10 for minimum bet on blackjack is a little pricey for me, but that may just be all cruises?? Other than the table tennis and drinking alcohol there is no more activities for you to do. And as a couple in our late 20's we were at a point where we didnt want to sun bathe all day or sit at the bar. The ports we went to do were great, Portifino is beautiful but very small and expensive. They offer a boat to shore at an extra cost so be aware of this. We travelled during term time so there was no children, but I feel if we had kids then there wouldn't be a massive amount for them to do, so do not recommend this as a family holiday. Service Service is superb all round and 99% of the staff are, or at least appear to be happy. I will point out that the ship, I have no experience to compare, but was extremely clean and tidy. The toilet facilities were absolutely spotless and there was always a 'toilet guy' in the gents by the San Marco restaurant. Overall Do not recommend Concierge class The ship does appear to be dated and tired in places Theres not a massive amount to do (In comparison to Royal Carribean and Carnival for example) Very clean and tidy Good food Great staff We paid over £4k all in, so I do feel it was ok value for money. But we were expecting more from the concierge class. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports. It was a wonderful experience. Our cabin steward was kind, caring, and attentive. A very hard worker and we appreciated his trustworthiness! The ship shows some signs of age, especially in the cabin bathrooms but it didn’t impede our enjoyment. Food was okay, not the best we have had but the staff all over the ship were great - especially in the kids club. The programming for kids was great. Our son, 10, loved it! He made friend with other children from all over the world and he couldn’t wait to go back every day. It gave us time to ourselves and him time to be a kid. Our least favorite poet was, sadly, Split. I so wanted it to be better than it was. Crowded and beyond hot. It was unbearable. The rest of the ports were awesome! Side note - we felt hiring private guides was better and less expensive that ship excursions. I’d recommend this cruise and ship. Go- have fun! Read Less

Chose this trip to take my family, wife, 2 married children and 2 grandchildren on a Med cruise in August The ship is very tired There were too many passengers 2560 compared to the advertised capacity and no extra staff. Consequently bar service slow, public areas not cleaned to a high enough stand. Open dining arrangements a nightmare and when we had to use a tender service about a 1.25 hour wait!! That said the grandchildren (10 & 14) had a fabulous time so therefore their parents could also enjoy their holiday. I had no expectations so in that respect I was not disappointed Fortunately, on day 2 we bumped into the captain and hotel manager who asked if everything was ok. After explaining the dining experience the hotel manager made a couple of calls and our situation was satisfactorily resolved. Also my daughter used to see him in the gym and he repeatedly asked if things were ok. We received a complimentary meal in one of the specialty restaurants Read Less

This was my first cruise and I absolutely loved it. I couldnt believe how effortless boarding the ship was, I've never seen such an efficient operation before, it was quite impressive. We ate at the main dining room most nights and were served by an amazing team, in particular our sommelier Ana was brillant, there was 11 of us in total some nights, 3 of us wanted anything with bubbbles, 2 preferred red and the rest different whites and not only did Ana's suggestions hit the spot, she remembered our choices and our names. Mayuresh was our waiter and he was also wonderful, I can't say enough about the 2 of them. The buffet was ok they had a good selection for breakfast and lunch, but dinner was just ok not as many options as I would've liked which is the main reason I enjoyed going to the dining room. The ship is in ok condition and I think it's being refurbished in the next year or 2, which will be great and I hope they consider 1 change, the smoking area is too close to the pingpong tables and one of the entries to the buffet. Trips ashore were easy to arrange, mostly sightseeing tours and a few adventure options as well. I would sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

BACKGROUND My DW and I are Diamond RCCL cruisers, we decided to give Celebrity a try to open up more itinerary choices. The fact that Celebrity gives us Elite status was another deciding factor. We have sailed smaller ships and mega ships before and are ok with either, understanding that we usually have to give up size for a more unique itinerary. We chose this Constellation 9 night cruise based on the Barcelona to Venice Mediterranean sailing that included Croatia and Montenegro. PRE-CRUISE Had no problems with the Celebrity website, the booking process, selection of meal times, tours, etc. I was able to set up my schedule exactly the way I wanted. Bought a couple of excursions. So far so good… I have to say that I was a bit dismayed with some of the recent Constellation reviews on Cruise Critic. A few of them described the ship as being “in major disrepair” and as being filthy. There were also reviews that complained about terrible service and rude staff members. As an experienced reader of reviews, I understand that opinions can vary widely. I also understood this ship wasn’t built yesterday. EMBARKATION (BARCELONA) Was a breeze. This time we opted for a later pier arrival (so that we could enjoy a few last hours of Barcelona) of around 2:30ish and we basically were able to walk on, go directly to our room, etc. We had priority boarding but really didn’t need it. We were able to buy some wine in the port store and carry it on with no issues. THE SHIP Obviously not a new ship, the Constellation does show some wear and tear. To describe it as being in “major disrepair” or “filthy” is simply ridiculous. Ship was certainly clean and we observed adequate ongoing cleaning activities. We spent most of our deck time in the solarium and there was always an attendant there cleaning and drying the floors from pool and spa splashes. Most of the deck chairs looked brand new. The carpeting didn’t even appear that worn to me. After reading those scathing reviews read pre-cruise, I was very pleased with the ship’s condition. Layout was also easy to learn. THE CABIN – 8002 We usually opt for a balcony but settled for an Oceanview (booked a Guarantee) in order to spend more on sightseeing, etc. We were assigned cabin 8002 which turned out to be a really oversized oceanview (due to the shape of the outside of the ship and the hallway, this cabin is like 30-40% longer than the standard oceanview. We really enjoyed the space!! The location of the cabin (extreme FWD) was not of any consequence regarding noise or movement on this sailing. Regarding condition/cleanliness – perhaps a little (and I mean a little) wear and tear, but very clean. We had no complaints about the cabin. Our Cabin Steward, Neil from India, was fantastic (best we’ve ever had on any cruise). Always a big plus when the Steward seeks you out on day one to both greet you and to find out if you have any questions/requests. DINING Always subjective, but here goes. We had Select Dining and I made reservations for dinners pre-cruise. We only really had an issue on night one when we waited in the reservation line for 30 minutes (behind a large group of suite guests with NO reservation that were trying to get multiple tables together, by the windows, etc, etc). IMO, the hostess really should have pulled this group aside to seat those in line WITH reservations. When we finally got to the hostess, she declared “you’re late for your reservation”, to which I replied “think it’s the other way around because we were here on time”. We were automatically seated at tables for two, which by the way, are like 6 inches from other tables for two. Really more like a table for four. We didn’t mind the closeness (we met some really great couples) but there is a bit of awkwardness because the food is coming at different times at each table of two - since the couples are seated at different times. On to the dining room food quality: overall, a bit better than RCCL. The prime rib was really good, as were the fish dishes. Loved having some new choices. Service in the dining room was very good overall, think we had one waiter on one night that was just average. No issues at all with wine and drink service either. We have had issues in the past on RCCL (getting timely drinks in the dining room), no issues on the Constellation. The Oceanview Café was also a positive experience for us. A big plus was that there were always open seats (which is not the case on the larger RCCL ships). I give the food quality and selection a slight edge over RCCL. We did not eat in any specialty restaurants. THE STAFF Our overall experience with Constellation staff members was excellent. I already mentioned our exemplary Cabin Steward. Many, many staff members called us by name (more so than any previous cruise). Of the several dining room teams that served us dinner, we only had one waiter that was “so-so”. The Captain’s Club Ambassador was very attentive during the evening happy hour. Our one interface with Guest Services (complaints about the really crappy internet) was handled to our satisfaction. The staff members in the Oceanview Café were very efficient, dirty plates were always quickly removed- pleasantly. I was also impressed with how organized the queues for excursions were handled by those staff members. I mentioned the slightly snooty Select Dining hostess -after the first night our interactions with her were fine. So, call me completely puzzled by those negative staff reviews I’d read pre-cruise….. CAPTAIN’S CLUB Certainly enjoyed the nightly cocktail hour(s). No drink coupons loaded on the card for this cruise, the cocktail crowd was always pretty small. Appetizers at the Elite happy hour were pretty weak, IMO the RCCL Diamond Lounge had better offerings. The free bags of laundry were fantastic. Also enjoyed the Elite breakfast. MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS BEDDING- we slept fine but the mattresses could definitely use an upgrade. Also, it appears Celebrity does not use that foam “crack filler” when beds are pushed together? INTERNET- Absolutely horrible on this cruise. We could hardly get into our email, forget about uploading more than one picture at a time. After complaining at Guest Services, we were sent to talk to the “specialist” in the IT Lounge. He admitted that on that cruise the bandwith was “not what they had hoped for”. We ended up getting a 50% refund which I thought was fair. INTERACTIVE TV- How about posting the dining room menus here? Also was able to view my daily schedule on the newer RCCL ships, missed that here…. FELLOW PASSENGERS- Maybe it was the itinerary, maybe it was Celebrity – not sure which, but as a whole, we experienced a great group of savvy travelers (with the exception of the guy grabbing the buffet food with his hands – there has to be one on every cruise). Average age was also younger than we expected. CONCLUSION We enjoyed our first Celebrity cruise and would not hesitate to consider this line in the future. We look at Celebrity as an extension of RCCL, the slightly better food and service being an extra perk. Really wish we still earned RCCL points for Celebrity sailings though!! Read Less

We embarked the ship around 12:00pm, and our rooms weren’t ready until 1:00pm however it did give us a chance to explore the ship & enjoy the food. On the first evening the restaurants were super busy - so i would recommend booking or turing up early. However we did manage to find a table at the Tuscan restaurant where the staff were very friendly and accomodating & gave us very generous portions! The rest of the nights we ate at the San Marco restaurant (where we had to book each evening) but it did mean that we had the same waiters each night & they got to know us very well. Our main waiter Santosa, was extremely friendly & gave us recommendations each night on what to eat. By the last couple of nights he knew exactly what we liked to drink (so he would pre-order our drinks for us) and what our favourites were on the menu. He also referred to me & my family as Miss, Sir and Madame. For me personally, the friendly & generous staff in this restaurant were what made the holiday. Again, the rooms were lovely & not dated (i was warey of this as other reviews did mention it). Our room steward was again very friendly & helpful, making our beds each day & changing the towels twice a day. My family & i went on three shore excursions which were good. We went to Rome, Venice & Pisa. The tour guides were excellent, and had a lot of information to offer. The tours were well organised (on celebrity’s behalf), especially if you didn’t have a tour booked you could easily get off and on the ship to explore the cities. The only negative i would have is that the on board facilities are minimal and they could have more to offer, for instance a bigger swimming pool - but you do know this when booking th cruise! Overall, i had an incredible holiday & would particularly like to highlight the amazing staff on the ship as their friendliness and services were above and beyond what i ever expected! Read Less

There were four adults in our party. We chose the Jet Set Sail for the second time because we knew it would be an excellent start to our holiday, we were not disappointed, it was just as we remembered....& we will definitely do it again. Embarkation was smooth & we were pleased with our cabin which was kept very clean by our cabin steward throughout the holiday, a friendly young man. It was however very noisy at around 5am each day when the sun beds were dragged across the deck. As we were Aqua Class again we were in the Blu restaurant....definitely no complaints there. As usual we also dined in Quisine & Tuscan & both lived up to expectations. We didn't go to the theatre on this cruise as we were socialising with people that we had met & so missed many good acts. We did however visit the casino each evening, my guilty pleasure while cruising.... Lunch in the cafeteria was exactly the same each day so we quickly lost interest in that. Unfortunately too much time couldn't be spent round the pool due to the fact that there were so many unsupervised young children in the pools & hot tubs. We did try using the solarium but the same thing happened there...neither children nor parents paid any attention to the pool butlers when they were asked to leave. Definitely not enough security to back them up. It was like being on a Disney cruise without Micky Mouse. We will think twice before sailing on Constellation again!! I have ticked family cruise in the boxes below as this is what it appeared to be as there were just so many children. We have been on Celebrity cruises before where there were children, but all were well behaved with thoughtful parents. Read Less

Really enjoyed this short cruise from Barcelona to Venice as Part of a longer holiday in Spain and Italy. Had a balcony cabin on deck 7 which had been recently refurbished and was very nice comparing well with our Aqua Class cabin on Eclipse the previous year. The cabin steward was friendly and helpful as were all the crew we encountered. Having been spoilt by the Blu restaurant we did find the MDR a bit overwhelming but really enjoyed eating from the buffet in the Sunset Bar for several nights instead. We had a lovely meal in Tuscan and would go there again but didn’t really get the concept in Quisine so would probably not bother with that on future cruises. We enjoyed most of the ports we called at on this cruise except Genoa as it was a Monday and most of the tourist attractions were closed. The info on the ship didn’t make you aware of that so after a very hot walk standing at the entrance of things we could have visited on a different day we took the open top bus tour and then got back on the boat! We did the Vatican Behind the Scenes Tour run by Celebrity which was very good but included a meal in a hotel near by. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the, quality of the food or service which was slow and wasted an hour of our short time in the city. We were left feeling we had paid a lot of money for something that we could have got far cheaper and better by finding somewhere ourselves. Neither was it a traditional Italian meal in a local restaurant that celebrity suggests you will get. Overall though this was another great cruise and we would use celebrity again Read Less

This was our third cruise with Celebrity. It was a disappointment at all levels . It was a big step down from our experience from two years ago with Celebrity Equinox. This was a Mediterranean cruise . It was no entertainment on deck in the evening. It was no fitness or other outdoor activities like the previous Celebrity cruise. It was a lack of service and amenities. It was also a big disappointment in food quality and diversity . Food that we enjoyed at the buffet in the past now we had to go to special restaurants and pay extra. My husband and I had classic beverage packege but to get your cappuccino you had to go to the 5 th floor from 10th floor in order to get it . It was no cappuccino machine at any outdoor bars and any other indoor bars except the 5 th floor. People who catered to us were great but not to many of them ... Many times I had to clean my table and waiters were no where to be found. Overall it was not a good experience Read Less

This was our 2nd trip on this ship and the food was still amazing. It didn’t matter whether you ate in the buffet or main dining room the food was fantastic in both. Cabin was lovely with a nice balcony. Towels changed twice a day and cabin kept very clean and tidy by our steward. We travelled with another couple and our bookings were linked so we could eat together every evening. The service on the ship is brilliant and couldn’t fault it. The only thing that lets it down is the entertainment in the main showcase theatre, which is very mediocre. Having said that it wouldn’t stop me booking again with celebrity. The shore excursions are very expensive compared to other cruises we have been on and nothing that really appealed to us so didn’t book many. The pool staff need to keep kids out of areas where they shouldn’t be ie. the solarium. Read Less

CELEBRITY CONSTELLATION – NOT A 5 STAR SHIP We have just returned from a 14n (back to back) cruise on the Celebrity Constellation. We have been great fans of the Celebrity product in the past and have been on Constellation before, but both the ship and some of the staff, are in need of a serious shake-up. Torn and tatty bed linen, bathrooms with rust and filthy, stained tiling, grey torn deck towels that you wouldn’t buy in a jumble sale and sun beds that are rusty and broken are just not acceptable. Very young children( 3,7,8yrs) in the whirlpool late at night, totally unsupervised. Staff knew of this and chose not to approach the parents. A lack of drinks service on some of the sun decks led to large queues at the bars and much frustration. The dress code, always a contentious issue, was constantly flouted. A bare chested man in swimming trunks being served at the Martini bar on a ‘chic night’ is just not acceptable when most people have gone to a lot of trouble to look smart. Swimwear and foul language in the ‘elite party’ is not what guests want, particularly when the guests were not in the elite club– neither occurrence was challenged by the staff. On chic night, we dined in one speciality restaurant, quisine. With the managers approval, one guest wore swimwear and a baseball cap! Celebrity want to attract repeat customers so the logic of offering virtually identical (not particularly good) entertainment on the two successive 7n cruises is a real let down. The shows, although of a good standard, are primarily aimed at the American audience. It would be great to see the Broadway show reintroduced as it appeals to all nationalities and all ages. Surely it should be possible to at least change the menu weekly in the San Marco dining room to accommodate back to back cruisers.A noisy cabin (a vibrating headboard from the engine noise) required us to sleep in an inside cabin for several nights. we were then disturbed by 30 luggage trolleys being very noisily moved for 2 hours in the middle of the night. Despite booking and paying for an outside cabin we were only given $100 obs in compensation. Nowhere near the real difference in the cost of cabins. This Level of compensation and falling standards in everyway has ensured that we have felt more like commodities than valued customers. We have cancelled other cruises booked for 2019 on Celebrity Constellation and will look to other lines for a 5 star product. Wake up Celebrity as other passengers will be voting with their feet too. The 3 lonely stars of this ship are Gabriella( housekeeping) Thomas and Marko( cellar masters) thank you guys for all you did to help make our holiday better than it would otherwise have been. I chose this specific cruise for the itinerary, and chose this line because I've cruised on Celebrity before and it was wonderful. There are similar cruises for much less, but I decided to go with Celebrity due to our previous experience. I do not drink alcohol and was forced to buy a "water" package, as the water in our room, and at the buffet was brown. The service was about the worst I've ever received anywhere and I'm including any travel any where in the world on land or sea. I had to get my bottled water at the bars-my average wait time was 15 minutes and this was even if there was only one person sitting at the bar. This was consistent, every time. This lack of service was the same for our traveling companions, one of which only drinks beer, not a mixed drink. How difficult is it to hand you a bottle of beer or water. And heaven forbid I ask for 2 bottles of water at the same time!!! The bartenders will not make eye contact (they appear to be trained to do this, since it is at every bar, unless you are very young and wearing a low cut dress or bikini) and the only way to get their attention is either by banging your hand on the bar or yelling, either of which is not my style. I'm a vegan, again chose this cruise because I was assured they could accommodate my diet. They did not. The Spa Cafe staff was incredibly rude, with the exception of my last day. Another complaint I have is that I paid for my water, I don't drink soda, and they charged me for a stinking smoothie. Over $6000 for the cruise, another $200 for WATER, and I had to pay for a smoothie. We had a massage at the spa which triggered my husband's sciatica which was fine and had been for the last 2 years. Next day he was taken by wheelchair to Medical for treatment (which was the only decent department on the cruise) as he could not stand. Spa denied any responsibility, they reimbursed his massage, but not his medical expenses. Again, poor customer service, why not go the extra mile instead of arguing with us? The internet service, for which I paid, was abysmal. We could not wait to get off this ship. We I came home there was article in Forbes that Celebrity is redoing this, among other ships. I will not be cruising with this line again. I've booked my next cruise on Uniworld. Due to either an excursion or my husband being in bed, (he also had GI problems from the food) we did not make our meal seating until the last day, and this was not well received. We were told to "go downstairs" where we were given a table by the entrance, again food bad (who burns gnocchi?) waiter clearly annoyed when we came in at 8pm. At the end of the substandard meal, I had to ask for coffee. My husband asked for decaf, which it clearly wasn't as he was up all night, and my green tea was black. The views were beautiful, although we did not see Montenegro, (husband's injury) but the ship terrible. Cruising is usually a great way to travel because the service is outstanding. Not on Celebrity. This cruise was part of a trip which combined a stay in Lake Garda and return journey on the Orient Express. We have travelled with Celebrity before and this was our worst ever cruise. The ship is extremely old and shabby. The staterooms are tired and in need of a complete refurbishment although they were clean. The tables are absolutely crammed together in the main dining room. The evening meal has the same core menu every evening, with a few variations to the beef, chicken and lamb dishes. The service, if you can call it that, is rushed and unprofessional. The pool areas are noisy with music blaring from 9am every morning there is a distinct lack of quiet areas. The excursions are extremely expensive and poor value for money. The standards have definitely dropped, this is not a 5* cruise. I will never sale with Celebrity again. This was part of an very expensive holiday and it certainly tainted the whole experience! We had never before sailed with Celebrity but have done so with several other cruise lines. Our Jet Set Sail package was attractively priced and enticed us to book. The outward flight was good and there was a smooth transfer to the ship. Constellation was what we expected it to be, clean with good food, and polite staff. The ports of call were good choices but the shore excursion prices were well off the scale - come on Celebrity you can price things much lower. For half the price of a single person's trip you can get taxis willing to take you to the same places and more. The ship's own theatre entertainment team was nothing special - sat behind the theatre sound desk one night - six people singing but only 3 mics lit up - so 3 were mimimg to the backing track??? However the "guest" acts were excellent. Also did not understand why the other entertainers that performed around the ship only had 45 minute slots before they had to pack up and move on to another venue onboard. During the day there was not a lot of activities compared to other cruise lines, however we did enjoy the daily quizzes on general Knowledge and music. The cabin we had was spacious and well appointed with an attentive and pleasant steward. All in all the cruise was enjoyable but not exciting. Then came the nightmare of the return journey home after a cancelled flight which showed up a lack of customer care. No drinks, no food, no advice for nearly five hours after the original flight time - by the research of the 85 passengers concerned it was our collective belief that Celebrity had known there was a long delay in the flight departure before we diembarked the ship and had failed to act upon it. Overnight stay and repatriation via Heathrow and coach transfer to Stansted appreciated but again a lack of care as nothing to eat or drink provided for the journey - something we had already paid for via Jet Set Sail. Yes we have been offered compensation but we are still awaiting payment from the airline Celebrity chartered and also expenses paid claimed from Celebrity - this is the automatic response from an email sent to Celebrity - Thank you for contacting our Customer Relations department, this is an automated confirmation that your email has been received. We are reviewing your comments and one of our team will contact you in due course. We aim for this to be within 28 days. We chose this cruise after hearing that Celebrity was one of the best lines and the itinerary looked great. Any notion of that ended quite quickly on this cruise. I will preface that I do not consider myself a picky traveler at all - I am overseas all the time for work and don’t require much. The issues started with one of our suitcases not arriving at the room and after a call to our cabin steward, being informed very rudely that I needed to fetch it from deck 1. Once I trekked down there, they handed me my bag (which was properly tagged) with no explanation. Only in the elevator did another guest explain that hers was held up due to having an electrical cord in it, so I am guessing my curling iron was the culprit but was never given any explanation or warning prior to packing that electric devices would be an issue. Then came the fun part... booked an excursion to Milan from Genoa which was downright horrid. The bus stopped at a rest area for 1/2 hour, shortening our time in the city significantly. The description included seeing Duomo and La Scala. 90 min into it, our long-winded and hard to understand guide (Daniela) had shown us a no parking sign and 2 “back alleys” and none of the sights. After viewing the back alley side of La Scala, we finally asked the Celebrity rep whether we could proceed to the church and she stated that we would only see it from the outside. If we had known in advance we could have easily got timed tickets ourselves online, but they would not disclose the agenda, preventing us from planning for ourselves to actually see the city. We broke off and crammed as much in on our own as we could in the limited time we were afforded, but disappointingly we barely scratched the surface of Milan thanks to all of the wasted time. I hoped this was an anomaly by at dinner we found our friends had a similar experience on their tour to Portofino - barely having time to see anything at all due to inept guides. We put on our game faces hoping for a better day in Rome, but alas, our bus stopped at the gate to the port for over 30 min (watching all the other buses from the Disney ship pass us by) to do some kind of personnel transfer. So underway an hour later for an already short day to try to take in a little of Rome. We will book on our own for the other ports and avoid anything related to Celebrity excursions. I will say that the food on the ship has been very good and there are some nice spaces. But the service at the bars and in the staterooms is nothing to write home about and definitely a few notches below Princess or Disney, our other cruise experiences. Disappointing for sure. Read Less

This was our first 7 day cruise aboard Celebrity. We found that half way into the cruise it was all about how to get off the ship. It made our vacation feel shorter. Embarking at Civitavecchia was not as smooth as I had experienced at other ports. Felt disorganized and there really was no advantage given to Concierge Class guests. The rooms were typical cabins. Older furniture inside but newer chairs on the veranda. Our beds were not comfortable at all and we woke with back aches each morning. The carpet looked like it could have used s good cleaning. Our cabin steward was good but he was clearly overworked and had many cabins to tend to. We are at two specialty restaurants; Sushi on 5 and QSine. We didn’t expect the Sushi restaurant to charge a la carte but that wasn’t a big issue. The sushi was ok but not great by any means. Service was average. The dinner at QSine was the seafood menu. Big disappointment here. We were seated near the front of the restaurant and the noise coming from the kitchen was very loud. So loud in fact that the maitre d had to tell them twice to keep their voices down. There’s also a door to the right as you enter the restaurant that banged closed every 30 seconds and drove me nuts. The food was good. The service rushed. The food in the Oceanfront (buffet) was pretty much the same - every night. There also weren’t enough bar stewards. By the time we got our drinks we were done with dinner. We ate in the main dining room only twice. The service was slow but the food was good here. The others at the table started talking politics so we decided not to return. The Martini bar on 4 was awesome. Highly recommend this area. As for onboard activities, there really weren’t many options. Steer clear from the bingo (very expensive and only 4 games!!). The casino has a few newer slots but most were very old. Overall this was a disappointing 5th cruise for us. The ship is too old, there isn’t enough staff and the food was not good. We will try Azamara next. Read Less

We chose this cruise as an alternative to the one we had cancelled in the Carribean due to the flights being cancelled because of the Beast from the East. We got as far as Newark but could not get to San Juan. We were delighted with this cruise as we had not sailed in the Adriatic Sea before and were really happy to have done it. The other plus was we flew direct to Barcelona from Edinburgh and again direct back to Edinburgh from Venice. The 11 night trip was ideal after the problems the previous month. Our cabin was at the back of the ship with a nice large balcony and was ideal as we just wanted to relax. We had the best balcony for the sun and the ship seemed to dock most days with the sun on our balcony. The meals in the dining room were very good but the cafeteria was a bit repetitive and did not give you a boost when you saw it. There is plenty of variation each day but you know what it will be. I must admit the shows in the theatre were excellent Read Less

Michael's Club is only available to top level Captains Club and those in the top level Suites eg Royal Suite. It is not available to Concierge Class suite passengers. We have dined in the Tuscan Grille which is excellent, quiet and relaxed. We tried Qsine but found it too quirky for our taste and the noise level so high we couldnt hear the waiter telling us about the meal. Our wine waiters have been excellent in recommending wines of our liking - we purchased the beverage package. It was offered several weeks before the cruise at a discount, as was the dining package. San Marco is very good, we choose a set dining time but you can book any time dining as well. The Ocean buffet is for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a wide variety of choices. I am gluten free and was able to be accommodated at all the restuarants. The crew are very helpful and friendly. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the ports of call. These included Malta, Israel, Crete and Mykonos. First sailed on this ship 15 years ago, however, the Constellation is still in a wonderful condition. The public areas still look smart and the only thing we noticed was some wear on the seats in the theatre. Service on board is excellent from the cabin attendants, the bar staff, guest services and the dining rooms. We ate breakfast and lunch in the Oceanview cafe and dinner in San Marco. Food was just basic, nothing special. Some nights we struggled to find an entree we liked and other nights we found it difficult to choose as everything sounded appetising. Cafe El Baccio has wonderful coffee and delicious cake selections. We ate in the Tuscan Grill one night, but in our opinion it was highly overpriced even with a 30% discount. We were on the classic drinks package which had a large selection to keep us more than happy! Never had to wait long to be served in any of the bars and there was a small wait to find a sommelier in the dining room or Oceanview Cafe. The evening theatre entertainment was very good, with a different show every night. Also enjoyed the evenings in the Reflection lounge. We had a concierge cabin deck 8 midship. The cabin was very nice, the bathroom was adequate and there was plenty of space for clothes. The carpet was in very good condition and the sofa showed only a little wear on the arms. The towels are quite small but the bathrobes are quite luxurious. We would certainly recommend this ship and will be sailing her again at the end of next January. Looking forward to that! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the unusual itinerary. Some reviews said the Constellation was tired and showing signs of wear, we didn't find this at all. The ship was beautifully kept and the cabins were spacious and light. We chose late dining and shared a table with some great people. The food was varied and excellent. We were well looked after by head waiter and sommelier. Eating later enabled us to attend the shows in the theatre every night. the entertainment was always excellent especially the guest artists. The ships singers and dancers worked very hard to put on some fabulous costumed extravaganzas. Our cabin steward was always there with a song and a smile, and the buffet staff were happy to stop for a chat even though they were very busy. We have no complaints as we enjoyed our cruise very much, however it would be more perfect if the Wi-Fi packages were not so expensive. Not a late night party ship. but the silent disco was great fun and everybody was dancing until 1.00am. The diversity of the ports, Malta, Jerusalem, and the Greek Islands made this an unusual cruise not often found, but would recommend should it be offered again. Read Less

Rooms were large enough and balcony was pleasant but the crew on this ship were without a doubt the best of any cruise we have been on. The entertainment was very very good and the different bars were great for just relaxing between shore excursions and the evening entertainment. The itinerary was perfect as was the weather. If you have not taken this cruise it should be on your bucket list in the near future. My absolute favorite was Corinth but each port we stopped at had so much history and so much historical and biblical importance. We had a very eclectic group and everyone found the cruise and the ports to be an awesome experience. This ship while not grand in size more than makes up for it in personality and service. Read Less
