The holiday was part of my wife's 80th birthday celebration. Having been several cruises with other companies we wanted to try out the Celebrity Cruise line. Also we had never before been through the Suez Canal. We spent a few days in Rome (a city we are familiar with) before the cruise and then a few days in Dubai (a new experience) at the end. Seen it now - wouldn't go back! The ship was very good (maybe a little bit tired) but the cabin was excellent and the organisation and staff first class. We old folks took part in lots of on-board activities and particularly enjoyed the entertainment - especially the very informative lectures. The upstairs buffet was very good but unfortunately the main dinning room not so. Many people complained about the slow service and on occasions the piped music made conversation impossible. I've never had such a bad crepe suzette. Would we go again with Celebrity ? Well, maybe. While we can perhaps afford it, I'm never comfortable feeling I'm being "ripped off". The excursions were well over priced; $300 up front for gratuities plus 18% on all drinks (come on !!) and $530 for Wi Fi - even the ship's comedian thought it was a joke. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, we had a great holiday - thoroughly enjoyed it. However, our two immediately previous cruises on TUI Discovery and the Allure of the Seas were equally good, if not better value for money. Celebrity Cruises are good - but not as good as they think they are. Read Less

We were very excited about this cruise and choose celebrity with its great reputation and with this ship having so many sea days we wanted to make sure we had great food and great entertainment... we were in an aqua spa suit with balcony and on first impressions although it was dated it was very clean so we were happy well this didn’t last long... our room was above the main buffet so it was noisy and constantly smelt of food and the overwhelming strong garlic smell that stuck to our clothes and was in our room and throughout the corridor was sickening... the main buffet served the same everyday just changing the meat, the man carving the meat would just pick it up with his hands and chuck it on your plate even though he was wearing gloves it put you off eating it he was very rude and he had an argument with a guest because he manhandled his food so bad half of it miss his plate, it was like being served in prison...I always eat fresh vegetables at home so much to my shock and surprise to find them serving only frozen vegetables in the buffet they were tasteless and soggy quite frankly vile... I can confirm it was frozen veg as every day we saw a member of staff walking through our corridor with bags of frozen veg taking it down to the buffet... there was a particular group of people that spend all day and all night in the smoking area getting drunk which is fine until they were so drunk they were swearing shouting racist remarks being rude to the bar staff chucking rubbish and bottles all over the floor and upsetting many guest around them... where was the ships security why were these people aloud to carry on... if i had been told for 3 days of this cruise the outer decks would be shut down and lighting turned down for safety because of pirates I would have never booked this cruise, this also ment if you had paid for a balcony you couldn’t go on it the lights had to be off curtains shut... our room was difficult to get to and from with the amount of areas shut down on the ship and I saw many elderly people struggling to get to there room in the dark and getting lost in fact we helped a few and we don’t even work on the ship... entertainment well if you can call it entertainment was diabolical the best singer I saw on that ship was a guest getting up to sing in karaoke, the shows were so amateur that it was embarrassing to watch I never saw any to the end cos it was awful, celebrity need to take a leaf out of Norwegian books they had amazing shows, they charge 25 dollars per person to play deal or no deal I know other ships charge 20 dollars, the only good thing the entrainment team put on was the silent disco... tv channels consist of all about celebrity cruises a bit of sport and news channels if you want to watch a movie you pay 15 dollars that’s of course if the movie can download now even though they are charging you 15 dollars to watch a movie in your room you can watch some of them films for free in the outdoor cinema total daylight robbery on celebrity’s behalf... also opposite the coffee shop you can purchase ice cream at a cost but you can get the same ice cream in the buffet for free how can you charge people in some parts of the ship and have it for free in other parts of the ship... daylight robbery... the internet is massively over expensive and we need it for my husbands work but over half the time it didn’t work...When we got on the ship we brought a drinks package included soft drinks and alcohol much to our surprise half way through our cruise the had run out of coco cola, Nescafé and other brands not exceptable celebrity especially when it was at the start of the sea days so you had to wait till the next port before they could stock up again and even then there was still beverages unavailable... we wanted champagne with our dinner in the Italian restaurant which was the only nice meal we had they had a long list and we know that’s not encluded but we wanted a romantic night and were more than happy to pay for champagne the only good one they had was Cristal how can you run out of champagne...me and my husband got tummy aches and sickness along with a lot of other guest whilst on this ship, the only time We enjoyed ourself was when we got off the ship in Tormina and Petra... when we docked in Abu Dhabi we changed our flight and came home early because we couldn’t stand to be on this ship a moment longer I can honestly say our bad experience with this ship has put us off cruising for life I certainly will never book with celebrity again Read Less

Classic Drinks Package-to 9$ a drink- except not highlighted you pay in full if the included drinks are from cabin mini bar or served with food in cabin, & you pay in full for $5/6 fruit & smoothies drinks from the Spa Bar. It's either a drinks package or it isn't, & it isn't. A rip off. Horrendous loud screaming music in the buffet restaurant - turn it OFF! This is not a pleasant dining experience. Gratuities do not get any mention or prominence in the glossy brochures other than in the very small print terms & conditions. Celebrity, why are you deliberately concealing these charges from your customers? Put them up front in your brochures. On Select Dining why are large groups able to advance pre-book tables at the same time each evening resulting in denied access to others until after 8.00pm. They should be allocated to Fixed Dining. The excursions in Israel were probably the best experience we have had in 25+ cruises. Read Less

We booked this cruise because of the itinerary and had low expectations of the ship after reading all the reviews. We were, therefore, pleasantly surprised to find the ship was, in the main, very well-maintained - not as glitzy as some of the newer ships but nevertheless clean and comfortable. Staff (especially our cabin steward) were all extremely helpful and friendly. We did not have a drinks (or any other package) but were never hassled to buy anything. We had thought about a drinks package but are glad we didn't take one as it worked out much better financially for us to just pay for our drinks etc. Food was good without being outstanding. We had dinner in the Main Dining Room each night usually sharing with 4-6 others. There was always a table available (we usually ate about 7.00 pm) and we loved meeting all the different people. We looked at the Specialty Restaurants but none of the food on offer inspired us to pay the extra amount. Entertainment and guest speakers were hit and miss. Some shows in the theatre were excellent, others we just stood at the back for a few minutes and walked out. Guest speakers were the same - one was very entertaining and informative, the other two quite boring at times. The biggest negative with Celebrity is that they don't have self-service laundries on their ships. On a 30-day cruise this was definitely a nuisance. We had some laundry and a few items of ironing done by the ship and also did some handwashing ourselves but it would be so much better if they had a laundromat. This was only our second cruise with Celebrity (we were on the Reflection just after she was launched) and whilst it's not Silversea, Oceania, Azamara etc you're not paying the same prices you woulld pay for those ships and we found Celebrity excellent value for money. If we found a suitable itinerary we would not hesitate to sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

We did this cruise because of the ports .. great ports .. but as soon as you go on board you are offered a glass of champagne but while you may be drinking your champagne you are hounded to buy packages .... drink packages .... specialty dining packages .... I did not buy packages because they were very over priced we did go to 2 dining rooms and value for money they were very overpriced .... example glass of red wine was no more than 2cm of red wine in a water glass cost $10.00 .... but the worst is yet to come .... we did 2 cruises .... back to back .... Singapore to Abu Dhabi and then Abu Dhabi to Rome .... the last show in the theatre on the first part of the cruise was the first show in the theatre on the second part of the cruise .... this we believe was all about saving money on entertainment .... and there is lots more .... the buffet on the second part of the cruise where we had 5 days at sea ran out of tomatoes .... banana,s .... and later in the cruise potatoes .... this made the salads look very bleak .... But the worst experience was there safety drill ... there a lot of elderly passengers on cruises and you are asked to go into dining area,s for a period of 40-45 minutes where more than half the passengers are asked to stand .... I am 73 years old and I cannot stand for 45 minutes so I sat on the stairs outside the dining room I was asked to go in the room and I refused on the second leg of the cruise I learnt against the wall at the opening on the other side was a gentleman with a walking stick and he was very distressed I asked one of the staff if they could get him a chair and I was completely ignored .... there facility for safety drill is a shameless and very very unprofessional .... I and many other passengers believe that are putting profits ahead of the comfort and safety of passengers The above points I discussed with customer relations manager Keith Wheelan Read Less

We were a family of 6 adults. This was my second celebrity cruise. We were in Aqua class. Disappointed in the cruise. The Suez Canal narrator did not have adequate microphone so he ended up speaking to people as they came up to him. Not at all like Panama Canal crossing on NCL. We used Aqua class and main dinning room menu- which was nice to have access to. Not as boring as repeats. The entertainment in the main venue was good but the entertainment in the other clubs was not. We attended most of the podium lectures which were good. Physics, naturalist and historical series. It was nice to get an invitation to go to helicopter area for docking. We ordered cheese for our afternoon snack which was far superior to the other offering in Aqua. No extra charge. Room service for breakfast was very prompt. Our cabin steward was always available and helpful. Aman. Our waiters at dinner got our preferences down and we had a table for 6 reserved for us which was spacious and nice. We went on private tours. The Dark Rome tour of the Basilicas and St. Peter's was great. The guides were very learned energetic and enthusiastic. We were able to get tickets to go down to St. Peter's tomb and see the old pagan cemeteries. Contact the Vatican- very limited each day. We were very lucky. On the way up to the main basilica we saw other areas. We also went to the top on the elevator. Would suggest this. You can climb up to the top for additional 300 stairs. We were happy with the elevator inside and out. You ended up where the statues are and the dome inside. To go to the top of the tallet building in Dubai get your tickets in advance. We were dissapointed. A must see the Mosque in Abu Dabi. We did a dune bashing which was fun. I would skip the dinner cruise- too long and you can get a water taxi that goes the same route and takes you to the gold market suick. I did not buy anything but the malls are a nice walk through with the aquarium and the ski slopes. Food courts are very interesting. Like being back in US but the customers were veiled. People were always very friendly. The acropolis is being restored which is nice. Also went to Poseiden ruins. Petra was fantastic and much larger than just the treasury in the Raider's movie. A very long walk. Horses and carts are available. Donkeys also. Hope this is helpful. No problem with pirates. We had some black out dates. Windows and curtains drawn. We did have a Safe Haven drill. Felt very safe. Enjoyed the Captian's talk.Buffet had great variety and was good. The aqua class comes with the Persiean Garden. This was not the same as on our other Celebrity cruise. Dark small and dank. I did enjoy the sauna for the general members off the pool. The gym was visited by my husband alot. The stretch exercises and abdominal exercises were good but needs to be offered more times especially since we had so many sea days with little activiites. They were very popular. I liked the fact that there was no hard pressure sales in the spa when we attended women's pamper day. My sister and sister in law enjoyed the brow presentation also. Our hostess in aqua class was wonderful. She greeted us and was very polite and happy!! She loved her job and it showed. Nice greeting every night. NurseGator Read Less

There's a lot of rust all over the ship. The public restrooms are almost always more dirty and smelly than the restroom on the average petrol station. The WTC Abu Dhabi shopping mall has better quality on their toilet paper than the ship. As always there are too many different kinds of music on at the same time around the Al Bacio, which is usually our favorite place to spend our time and money. This cruise we didn't. We couldn't. The two girls strangling their violins must have paid a lot of money to be on this ship because they really can't play. Classical music is supposed to be harmonious, but they have no ounce of harmony in their act. They just sound like they're mistreating their instruments. The singer Jessica Hart in the production team destroys everything that allows her to open her mouth. She can't carry a tune, at all. Vocal Captain Matt on the other hand is amazing. I've been calling Celebrity customer service a lot in the previous months asking about our upcoming trip and every time I got different answers. Not one person knew anything at all about visas or visitors permits. But they should all be fluent in the workings of the ship and that you will handle ships excursions and the guests needs. It turns out we've been worried for nothing. But we've actually seriously considered cancelling this cruise because it was virtually impossible to get any answers from customer services. The Silent Disco was the absolute highlight of the activities on the ship. The short episodes of "if you laugh you lose" would have won if they were longer. I could easily see this on stage in the theater for half an hour and remember it as the highlight of the cruise. Read Less

The free use of the thallasotherapy pool and spas were great. Deck chair hogs were not. Smoking was allowed on the far corner of the pool deck and the smell was disgusting. Had to hold my breath when I needed to pass through the area. Why not have smoking on an open deck where others do not have to inhale second hand smoke? Rude able-bodied passengers occupied the two tables set aside for disabled passengers in the buffet area and staff did nothing to correct this issue. Rude passengers also cut into the front of buffet lines and pushed. Best to eat where you can be served. Cabin was nice with plenty of space to store things and the bathroom had a cabinet with two shelves underneath the sink to store toiletries. Our cabin attendant was thoughtful and efficient. Food in dining room was delicious and the service was excellent. Finally got to see Petra. Was on my bucket list for a long time. Absolutely fell in love with Abu Dhabi and Dubai. I did not leave my heart in San Francisco...I left it in the UAE. Read Less

We did noy stay in Rome before departure as we have visited a couple of times before in depth,so we went straight from the airport to the shipwe did not have a great start here as we were told in baggage reclaim to look out on the left hand side when exciting missed them they were behind a great big pillar we walked around the arrivals and went back to our starting point luckily for us we spotted a fellow cruiser who waved to us and told us the location of the bags deposit to go to the ship(the airport team had there backs to the exit point talking not doing there jobs).Although we had pre checked in it was slow the coach was held back for some 10mins whole process took about an hour. The ship although we found it clean we also found it tired it was supposed to have had a re-fit earlier this year have a look at the carpet in Main Dining it is filthy and threadbare in parts. The cabin we found to be ok everything worked that we used. We went for second seating dining which we also do all the time when cruising we sat sat down everynight apart from 1 night in the Tuscan for our 40th anniversary of which the ship managed to cock up our Reservation. We enjoy the dining we were looked after very well in the most part found the food to be of a high quality and well presented and very good wines to go with the meals. Sorry we are lazy dont do activities(apart from the Quiz)but we foung that both groups on this ship are the best we have seen on any cruise. Service was of a high standard we did not find any negative issues with this. We used the shore excursions in Athens / Petra we found both of high quality with excellent guides (in fact the athens guide a young girl was the best we have ever had in any sort of excursion while on holiday). We used the shore excursion as well in Oman (Muscat Walking Tour) we did not do very much walking to be honest it was on a Bus we did not think this one was good valuse for money in hindsight we would do the Big Bus tour they did a good deal on Oman / Dubai / Abu Dhabi. Dubai / Abu Dhabi we did the Big Bus both run a shuttle from the boat to the kicking off point downtown. Dubai (saturday) chaotic drop of point is the Dubai Mall exremely busy did the mimimum we wanted to do but that was mainly because of the heavy traffic. Abu Dhabi a lot better traffic around the city a lot lighter if you are tight on time do the mosque. Disembarkation was fine off the boat strangley short of taxis outside and the 2 men running this moved the taxi down the rank so people at the head of the queue were overlooked British / Americans / canadians and Scandinavians sonn showed them the erroe of there ways. We stayed a further night in Abu Dhabi at the Dusit Thani fantastic and well appointed Hotel with a fantastic dining experience it is slightly set back from downtown and is pretty isolated but taxis are very cheap here. In all it came to our expectation we booked it for our 40th wedding anniversary and had a great time we made some friends without having to resort to some on board fancy club. Read Less

We picked the due for the itinerary and value for money. Rome, Sicily, Athens, Suez Canal, Aqaba for Petra, Muscat, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Sky suite, deck 6, midships, good location close to where you needed to be. Great feature was that the bed faced to window and not side on as in other suites we’ve had. Good standard of ship and guest entertainers. Luminae great as usual although there were a few night where we had to pick from the main dining room menu. Only thing that we disliked aboard the ship was the quality and appropriateness of piped music when there was no live music or DJ. The music in the Martini Bar which we love was appalling, techno electronic which set your nerves on edge and created a negative ambiance. I can’t stress how bad it was. We requested that they play something more appropriate to the bar and crowd aboard but were told that the music was set by head office in Miami and couldn’t be changed. Every evening we asked them to turn it down.......it was truly awful. Read Less

To visit Petra in Jordan,The Celebrity Constellation is definately not 5Star ,Modern ,orLuxury as Advertised.the ship is tired throughout .Dining in the San Marco restaurant was slow and dark due to a number of broken and missing lamps, every course ordered took around thirty minutes to arrive, when on the 8.30 sitting most nights it was not unusual to leave after 11.00pm. What is described as a stateroom is just in reality a small cabin with the tiniest of bathroom, (I have a bigger bathroom in my camper.)valances around the bed were torn pieces of metal sticking out around the bed at shin height which were cured by placing pool towels under the mattress and hanging them over the end of the bed (never been in 5star accommodation with this option?) Not a 5Star cruise more like hovering around a THREE. If lots of Tee shirts, shorts and caps on backwards at evening supper is your thing this is the cruise ship for you .why do Celebrity encourage Dinner suits and then welcome guests dressed like hotdog sellers in ?. We were searching for a place to visit in the Middle East and found this cruise. We booked the cruise about two months before sailing and there were only inside cabins available. We boarded the ship in Abu Dhabi. The embarkation was very fast and our cabin was ready when we board the ship. Disembarkation in Rome was very fast and all our luggage was in one place. There are no washing machine on the ship and the laundry prices are very expensive. There were only about three movies shown during the cruise. The Entertainment was very good and there were two shows a night. The Internet worked well during the cruise and was very easy to open an account. The staff was outstanding always willing to help. The best Shore Excursion during the trip was Petra, Jordan. Muscat, Oman was a hop on hop off bus tour of the city. Beautiful building lots of pictures to take. There are no entrances permitted to the government building. The two stops in Greece were interesting lots of places to take pictures The dining in the main dining room the San Marcos was always very good and the service was outstanding. The Lido Dining was very good but sometimes it was hard to find a table. Read Less

Firstly, a bit of background, this was our first cruise with Celebrity having 25 plus previous cruises mainly with the Carnival group of brands. The last ten years apart from one with P&0 and one with Fred Olsen all being with Princess Cruises. Last New Year we tried P&0 after a gap of 9 years - just to see if all the so many poor reviews could be accurate. For us they were true and could only be described as dreadful. The Ventura herself was a nice ship but Food and service were dreadful. For us the company that offered the cruising experience of old - was confirmed as long gone. We love Princess and have been Elite status with them for quite a few years. We have however become bored with their itineries; especially out of Southampton. So, we decided that it was time for a change and booked our first cruise with Celebrity. The cruise was a repositioning voyage from the Arabian Gulf back to Europe starting off in Abu Dhabi We became a little concerned when before the cruise various reviews on the Constellation were very mixed. However, we should not have worried - Overall the cruise was a great success and an absolute pleasure. It was almost as if the clock had been turned back and the cruising of 20 years ago was back again. Cruise was booked as a package through Cruise Kings including flights to Dubai All Transfers – 2-night stay in Dubai – Transfer from Civitavecchia to Rome airport and flight home. Transfer from the airport in Dubai to the Hotel was chaotic as reps attending the arrivals seemed to have little idea as to what was going on and who was going where. This was not helped as we were delayed getting through to arrivals by 1.5hrs delay in getting through the long lines at immigration. Hotel in Dubai whilst fine for the time stayed would not use again. We were booked in the Holiday Inn in Al Barsha; very close to Ski Dubai and the Mall of the Emirates. Hotel was more basic than expected, whilst clean and friendly enough the continuous piped music which resonated from the central atrium through to the rooms right through the night drove us mad. Our outbound flight with Emirates on the evening A380 Flight from Manchester was fine, but delay in getting through immigration in Dubai was a pain. Return flight from Rome to Manchester with Jet2.com was as expected - very basic. We knew at booking that this would be the case but due to relatively short flight and good timings we stuck with - but would not be a flight of choice otherwise. Boarding Celebrity Constellation in Abu Dhabi Had previously read that long queues could be encountered depending on the arrival time in Abu Dhabi. We changed our original departure time from the hotel in Dubai from 11.00 to 09.00. This was a very good tactic, as we arrived at the terminal with only a handful of other guests. The terminal building was very nice and seemingly brand new. After a quick look at the shops we proceeded straight through security and basis our Aqua Class cabin waived straight through to priority boarding. We were on the ship at 10.30 am and offered welcome onboard sparkling wine before we even got as far as the elevators – Nice touch. On boarding we were told that cabins would be available from approximately 13.30 and that announcements would be made. This was fine by us – Overall very well organised and stress free. Initial Impressions On boarding was very pleased to see that Celebrity Constellation appeared to be very clean and in Good condition. Yes, some carpeting in alleyways and public areas was obviously well worn but not exactly threadbare, Décor appeared a little dark and ‘dated’ but we soon got used to this and she is still a lovely ship. She does not have all of bells and whistles of more recent ships but still considered her as very nice. What was so striking was the friendliness and apparent high morale and friendliness of all the crew. It was all so nice after our most recent experience with P&0 where majority of crew persistently looked as if they were chewing a wasp! Cabin Cabins were released to passengers at 13.20. Our cabin Aqua class Balcony 9057 was slightly smaller than the balcony cabins we are used to on the “Grand Class “of ships but was well laid out and spotlessly clean. Balcony itself was ok and it was nice to note that it was not only very clean (Seen to be cleaned throughout the voyage) when other ships more recently full of salt and general grime/overpainted balcony furniture not touched throughout the cruise. One thing to point out which we found out about pre-cruise is that by design of the ship all balconies and those on decks 8 and 9 are completely shaded by the large overhang from deck 10 above. This was not a problem for us as the weather was so hot and the shade welcomed but for some cruisers and more temperate cruises direct sunshine onto the balconies is limited or in our case non-existent. Bathroom was excellent spotless – no plumbing problems – Proper glass shower door and excellent multi nozzle power shower. Only possible complaint was that the bed and mattress was worn and very lumpy – Hopefully this will be rectified in upcoming refit. We really missed the new luxury beds found onboard Princess. Another minor note was the condition of the net curtains on the patio door which were drab and patched. Other than this we were quite happy. With Aqua class – daily hors d’oeuvres are delivered in the afternoon. These to be honest these are not worth it and we told our steward not to bother with these about half way through the cruise as they often deserved afternoon naps. Same applied with the delivery of daily jugs of supposedly infused chilled teas. Being Aqua Class also got upgraded Bathrobes – Slippers and use of Binoculars and Umbrella in the cabin. Toiletries were informed to be upgrades on the normal items on offer but this being first Celebrity/Aqua class cabin can’t really comment. It was nice to see though that individual shampoos and conditioners are still provided as opposed to the general refillable bottles of shower gel recently replacing the individual toiletries on Princess cruises. Another supposed bonus for aqua cabins was unlimited use of the spa suite of sauna and steam rooms which they called the Persian Garden? Was told that this was much better on the Solstice class of ships but found on Constellation this was rather dark and dingy. Would not bother with the so-called rewards of aqua class if it were not for our own designated restaurant “Blue” This was in our opinion worth the upgrade on its own Food and Service We have not yet travelled on Princesses recently announced new Club class but guess that this is designed to compete with Celebrity Aqua class. Availability of separate restaurant even though we never used the main restaurant was to us well worth the upgrade on its own. The small and more intimate Blu restaurant open for Breakfast and Dinner we used every day except one day when we dined in Ocean Liners. To us the food and service could not be faulted. It was excellent. Management ashore should give credit to the excellent staff – service levels and Maître D as to the levels of excellent service and the product provided. Blu restaurant had different menu every day of the cruise. Must point out though that we are in no way criticising the product on offer in the main restaurant, as many conversations we had with other friends made during the cruise commented on the excellent standards and Menus on offer in the main restaurant. As already mentioned we did on one occasion use the speciality restaurant “Ocean Liners”. This was very nice indeed but we only used this once and did not use the other restaurant the Tuscan Grille quite simply because the food and service in our main Blu restaurant was so good there was no need to use the specialty restaurants. Our only possible complaint with food offerings was the main buffet the Ocean View Café. This was to our tastes and that of many other passengers not to our liking. We found the offerings to be very repetitive even though we only checked this out at lunchtimes. It was badly planned – laid out the different sections made the flow to be very poor making the pushing and shoving encountered very uncomfortable. Access to serving areas was poor forcing users to lean under the enclosed serving areas often needing the leaning over of other items more towards the front of the displays. This was as said poor and uncomfortable. Score of the main buffet is the only item which could possibly lower the overall score of the food and beverage dept. To be fair though ship can hardly be blamed for design and layout of the serving areas, but management could be faulted on the offerings available. Entertainment Evening entertainment and Productions in the Theatre were some of the best we have seen for a long time. During the cruise, we had 4 production shows by the ships production team 3 of which we considered to be excellent and one good. Other evenings we had different guest entertainers ranging from excellent to very good. Only one considered as mediocre was the magician card trick type of act but probably some people liked. All shows – acts lasted for approx. 50 minutes Much better than the 30 min presentations offered over the last couple of years by Carnival Group ships. Thought that cruise director was OK certainly put himself out and about around the ship, which is more than can be said for most these days. Daytime entertainment especially since we had so many consecutive sea days was lacking – Morning lectures were OK But afternoon offerings poor. Again, considering so many sea days Some of which were too hot to stay in the sun. During the latter part of the cruise afternoon movie presentations started – not sure if this was due to complaints but in any case came as a welcome break. In conclusion, the cruise was good – very good. Hotel aspects Food Service General Hotel services were excellent as was the ships cleanliness. So, nice to see that cold towels still presented on open decks during the very Hot weather and on return from shore. People think these are minor items and other companies cut these little things thinking they are not missed or indeed noted. Maybe not by the newbies who seem to be the target groups of other cruise lines But companies should be reminded that they are noted. Cleanliness onboard Celebrity Constellation was to be commended. Had into the habit of not using - even avoiding public restrooms onboard as even recommended due to outbreaks of Noro virus etc. Constellation was spotless Public bathrooms even had attendees especially in the evenings and kept gleaming with cloth towels offered by smiling attendants. Crew to be commended throughout the ship - starting at the top and all Hotel Management team commended. Many thanks to the Hotel director and all his obviously, content and happy crew. Whether next cruise will be Celebrity or Princess would go with either subject to itineries and possible deals. We missed many items normally found on Princess not least the free Laundry for Elites – Mini Bar Set up – Free Internet etc., Celebrity has the edge in our opinion from this one cruise. Hope that it is maintained and that ship based fixtures are attended to in the upcoming refit. Thanks to all on Constellation for a great experience overall Read Less

I cant believe I was on the same cruise as some previous reviews, from start to finish I cannot find anything to complain about, previously I have been on 15, P&O cruises, also RCCL and Costa, this is the first on Celebrity but definitely not the last! We booked everything through Celebrity, outbound flights Heathrow to Abu Dhabi, 2 night pre cruise stay in Abu Dhabi with private transfers, cruise, private transfers to airport and return flight from Rome, everything was perfect. The staff onboard were very friendly, polite and efficient, we had flexidine and every waiter that served us,introduced themselves, was very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, never had a bad meal all cruise. We had a concierge cabin, and our cabin steward once again was fantastic nothing too much trouble. All excursions was well organised and thoroughly enjoyable especially Petra in Jordan! All in all a thoroughly enjoyable cruise!! Read Less

Despite some negative comments about Celebrity and the Constellation in particular this cruise was far better than recent Princess cruise experiences. Yes the ship is going in for a refit (just like they all are these days) but it was in reasonable condition and clean. Cabin was functional but the TV programmes offered were appalling, out dated. Yes, the drink prices were over the top but the two hour half price "Happy Hour" was good value but limited in what was available. The library was struggling with the concept that books make up a library not empty shelf space. The tours expensive (just like most cruise ships) ensured a lot of guests did their own thing in each port.. Service and staff excellent generally and the photographers, who are a pest at times on other cruise lines, were low key to almost invisible. Boarded at Abu Dhabi, Fabulous port facility and embarkation smooth. These day you can buy wine and alcohol in the facility after going through the boarding process. Cruise included Muscat, Aqaba, Suez Canal, Athens, Katakolon and then Rome. We did our own tours off the dock and no problems. The locals looked after us. Wonderful people at each port with Wadi Rum in Jordan a standout experience along with the Suez Canal. We have been to Petra before and did a private tour of Wadi Rum. Train to Olympia in Greece is 10 Euro return and is well organised and ready to go after the ship docks. . Not many free activities offered by the Cruise Directors staff that did not flirt with the hard sell or just ask for money up front. About 60 activities offered on sea days but only about 6 were free of selling in some way. Will not get into the unofficial reserving of limited deck chairs. Chairs claimed with towels and books at 7-30am and no-one using them for hours while cruise staff did nothing about it. Just on complaints, any made were rationalised from the company point of view and then generally ignored. Examples, deck chair use, poor activities offered, poor TV programmes, smoking issues. Dancers beware, none really offered on the ship. So called ballroom music was from the 1950's and played so softly it was hard to hear and it was just an accident if the music was danceable. Repeated complaints got the dancers nowhere. The bands did not play dance music, Jazz or Pop music both too loud. The shows were basic and lacking energy.. The dancers were a little out of time and the dance choreography mediocre, singers quite good, but the acrobats in each show were true professionals.. The performer shows were passable except for the British Beatles cover band who were great fun. The food, dining room generally average. Pay restaurants we don't use. Buffet excellent but lacking in vegetarian and vegan food. Only one option each lunch and dinner that varied little for the entire cruise. The pasta, stir fry and pizza stations, if you want vegetarian, were very good as were the staff running them. However the manager Danilo and the chef in the buffet would arrange a special meal if asked and were very helpful. The only illness on board was a cold that joyfully shared itself around. No norovirus reported which was a surprise as enforcement of hand washing in the buffet was non existent until about 8 days into the cruise so possibly the norovirus was sneaking around. The one drama was sailing past Somalia and the Pirate Drill with lights out on deck at 6 pm each night. Security was tightened with armed guards on patrol and a stop at sea to what appeared to be a transfer some security people and weapons. No complaints by anyone about that experience. Overall a good cruise and we will book Celebrity in future as any failings we found can be experienced on most other cruise lines and we choose cruises for destination reasons. Read Less

This was a cruise to tick off 2 bucket list items, Petra and Suez Canal, We arrived early Monday morning and got to the port at 8:45 ish, Celebrity opened check-in at 9am for around 100 of us but we did have to wait until 11am to get on the ship. We were expecting warm temperatures but not the 37-43 centrigrade we had. We did the Magical Muscat tour and were not disappointed though the time spent at the souk could have been halved. Aqaba we did a private tour to Petra, we did have a few misgivings as our driver was not there to meet us, however he had gone to the wrong ship, thinking that as we were Brits we would be on Queen Mary but the agent soon told him we were on Constellation. What a day, this well exceeded every expectation, the sights magical, the scenery stunning, the people very welcoming. Suez, we thought would be one straight long canal, but how wrong were we, it has bends, lakes and contrasting scenery on the two banks. Mickeylive did a commentary every hour from the bridge and this helped make this a very good day. Most of the ship was wandering around to get various vantage points including the helipad too. Athens we wandered across to Mandraki harbour for a change and Katakolon was a very beautiful village for the day. The crew as usual were brilliant and the food was much improved since our last voyage in January. It is tired looking but as I write this, it is in dry dock for refurbishment Read Less

We chose this cruise to make up a portion of a round the world trip (Back to Back Cruises). We started in Singapore and ended 30 days later in Rome. We enjoyed the ports, other than Greece, and thought the Suez Cannel passage was spectacular. We have sailed with Celebrity over 40 times and the product is slipping due to cost cutting. The ship is showing it's age and needs a complete redo. However, the scheduled dry dock, in May 2017, will not do what's needed. The Celebrity crew and staff are wonderful and go out of their way to accommodate guest requests. On the first leg, we were in an Aqua class balcony and the second leg an Outside. In Aqua Class the bed was saggy and proped up by foam rubber. The outside cabin bed sagged about 5" in the middle, and several times, Housekeeping tried to add foam rubber, but it never worked. The outside cabin, bathroom floor and shower grout, was in despert need of a steam cleaning to get rid of dirt and mold. Both cabins had problems with closet and furniture doors sagging and not closing. We thought the food quality has continued to decline. We ate in BLU the first cruise and the main dining room (MDR) the second. The service and environment in BLU was very nice, but the food was not anything great. In fact, some nights we thought the MDR had better choices. We had Select Dining on the second leg and were lucky to have the same table for 6 every night. The wait staff were excellent, and we enjoyed every meal! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of its itinerary. It was our first time on Celebrity. We had some great adventures in Oman and Petra. A lot of sea days but we knew this going in. The Suez Canal was interesting and very different from the Panama Canal. The cruise staff was very friendly and outgoing. The entertainment was the best we have had onboard a ship in a long time. A very pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed the silent disco nights. What a fun idea! We were disappointed in the food. Not much fruit selection and they ran out of lettuce four days before the cruise ended. All salads were made with spinach. I must say that a Caesar salad made with spinach is not my idea of a Caesar. As the cruise progressed the food got worse, some bing quite stale upon serving. Not good advertising for future cruising with this cruise line. Overall we had a good time, but were disappointed with the food but not the service. The service was great! We are going on another Celebrity cruise in a few days, we hope the food is better. Only time will tell! Read Less

We have been cruising over 10 years, had took many segments of world cruises. The reason we chose this cruise was Suez Canal and Petra. We took the ship's shore excursion to Petra - great disappointment. The tour guide was very green in the area - not well organized, lacking experience to lead - worst of all it hard to hear from him due to large group (our tourist bus was fully loaded). For charging over $270 per person it did not even provide a bottle of water on the way back, especially it's over 2 hours drive and after few hours walk. The ship is dated thus showing its age. Overall services and food in the main dining room are OK - nothing exceptional. Most of the enrichment programs /talks were very informative. The presenters are knowledgeable of their subjects . We're in concierge cabin on deck 8. Our cabin was clean and tidy, however the sofa, bed skirt and towels are wore out. Read Less

Boarded the Celebrity Constellation in Abu Dhabi for 16 day cruise to Rome via Suez Canal. The ship is a nice size and as mentioned by other contributor’s a little tired. The ships staff were first class and with the weather hot and sunny made for an excellent cruise. Dining in the San Marco restaurant was good with excellent service. Cannot comment on evening shows as we did not attend. The Martini bar was a good meeting point, the bartenders were excellent being comical with their antics and great service. Well done lads. . The port of Aqaba gave access to Petra and the Wadi Rum.and the journey through the Suez Canal was spectacular. Fellow cruisers were all friendly making this a happy cruise. As I write this review the ship is at Marseille undergoing a 2 week refit. We are looking forward to our next cruise on the Constellation in September. Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary - Middle & Far East + four days in India. We didn't use the ships excursions preferring to make our own arrangements. The Constellation is a lovely ship with a nice fun feel about it. The entertainment was very good as was is the Cruise Director, Rich. There were lots of activities and lectures which we enjoyed The staff were always friendly, helpful and curtious. The food in the Oceonview Cafe was excellent with great choices - we especially enjoyed the Asian dishes. However, the meals in the main dining room were disappointingly poor meaning we only spent four evenings in the "San Marco" dining room. This was unfortunate as having dinner in a pleasant dining room is one of the joys of cruising. We had one meal in the speciality restaurant "Cruise Liners" which was fine, but not worth the extra money. Drinks were expensive as was wifi. However, overall it was a very enjoyable cruise and value for money. Read Less

We had been to some of the ports previously on another cruise, but the opportunity to see other ports, to spend a bit more time in the ports we had seen and to spend time extra time in Singapore and Abu Dhabi were the major reasons for selecting this cruise. We had planned to travel with 3 other couples, but two cancelled because of illness leaving a small group of 4.. First the good: 1.Embarkation and disembarkation were quite good, especially the latter 2. The entertainment for the most part was very good and enjoyable. We could have done without the "adult entertainment show" Elariya ,which we found boring and did not live up to the hype. 3. Most of the staff-cabin attendant, waiters etc were superb. The cruise director , Rich was very pleasant and helpful. 4. Ocean Liners restaurant was excellent both as to quality of food and service. I would highly recommend the lobster bisque and dover sole,. 5. The fitness center was very good with lots of machines and little crowding, at least in the hours I chose to go, primarily in the early to mid-afternoon. Now the bad- I was shocked to see how much Celebrity has fallen down in quality from several previous cruises I had taken with them. 1. The water on the ship, , for most of the voyage, had a stange bad taste and if one wanted an alternative we were directed to buy an expensive drink package. No water was given out for free on tours. Shameful and the only cruise I have taken where this was true. I discovered that the ice tea mixed with lemonade substituted for the bad tasing water. 2. The dust , dirt and grime from our port stop in Mangalore was awful and the piles of exports materials at the port were not only unsightly, but a health risk to passengers with respiratory problems. 3. many on the ship developed upper respiratory infections and the hand sanitizers placed throughout the ship did little to contgrol the spread of this problem. It was comnpounded by not having adequate numbers of servers in the buffet area and allowing passengers to serve themselves as well as to reuse drinking glasses placed against the drink dispenser spigots. These issues also constitute a health hazard. 4. Having a single brunch on board(Easter brunch) and charging extra I found to be insulting. Virtually every other cruise I had been on, more than 30 aklways had a least one complimentary brunch at which the catering staff showed off their expertise in food preparation and decor. 5.Running out of food in Oceanview Cafe was not acceptable-too few coconuts for all passengers 6. The hor d'ourves offered to us in concierge class were pathetic, in type and quality, and brought way too early. Again several of the items were mayonaise based and could constitute a health hazard if left out of refrigeration too long. 7. Our tv worked less than 40% of the time in spite of multiple attempts to fix it. 8. The phones were very hit or miss especially for wake up calls and trying to reach other passengers. 9.Fibnally, the informational lectures were for the most part not up to the quality or caliber that we had experienced on other cruises and the fact that the audiences at them diminished suggesting that my critique was shared by other passengers. Additionally having two informational lectures held at 8 pm, in the midst of the dinner hour was very poor planning.. 9.The food in the main dining room was average at best and sveral times not even that.the only thing that rescued the time spent in the dining room was an attentive staff. 10. The ship itself is tired and badly in need of an overhaul.-rust, dirt, faded carpets and upholstery weere evident throughout. Read Less

We booked with a travel agent that included precruise and postures tours, airfare and transfers. The entire experience was excellent. Embarkation ran smoothly. We did private tours which were interesting and fun and we met some wonderful people. The ships staff were so friendly and spoke to us always as we passed by including those cleaning the common areas. The Captains Club manager,Rati, was amazing and very helpful. The cocktail waiters in the Reflection lounge were very efficient. Our room steward was superb and over and above helpful and no request was delayed or unmet. The entertainment was mixed and not all was to our liking but tribute shows are not our cup of tea. The two women musicians, violin and guitar ( can't remember their name) were wonderful. In all fairness, with all the different people on board it is impossible to meet everyone's tastes. The food in the MDR was excellent every night. I would say we were very pleased with our experience on the Constellation. Read Less

This was a fascinating cruise, and fortunately we did not experience any of the kinks with immigration that the people on the voyage before us did. Please know that everyone needs the multi-entry visa for India, NOT the e-visa. There was a group of travelers who had the e-visa and they were not allowed off of the ship in 3 of the 4 Indian ports. Prior to sailing, we stayed one night at the Jumeirah Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, which was wonderful! I found a Groupon for the Buffet breakfast, which was also excellent. We took a cab from the hotel to the cruise terminal, during which the driver initially drove much further out of town to the airport rather than the ship port, with his meter running. He claimed that we had said the "crew terminal," although I had actually said Mina Zayed Port, the formal name of the port. Long story short: this is a scam and it happened to others on our trip as well. We ended up talking to one of the helpful pier attendants so we could learn what the correct payment from our hotel should have been, and then we paid the driver the appropriate amount. The ship was in excellent condition and there were many highlights to our trip. Our favorite experiences were the dolphin safari in Muscat, Oman; the houseboat trip in Cochin (booked through Lijo Jose, Muziris tours) and the Dune bashing desert safari in Dubai. We also enjoyed seeing the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and many of the Hindi temples in India. I think we missed out by not going to the beach in Goa with the Celebrity excursion; friends thought it was wonderful. The only port stop that was uninspriring was New Mangalore, although one of the Hindi temples, Shree Gokarnanatheshwara, was beautiful. All in all we thought the food on the ship was excellent, better than much of the food we have had on recent cruises. We split our time fairly evenly between the main dining room and the Oceanview. One major complaint, though, was the inconsistency of service during select dining in the main dining room. We had some long waits for tables and some poor service (often on the right hand side of the room when entering). Yet, whenever we were seating toward the middle of the room we had excellent service and were helped by some lovely people. I'm not sure what needs to be done, but something needs to be fixed with the select dining experience. Even the women who handed out the beepers seemed stressed and unwelcoming. We enjoyed the Martini Bar and the Sunset Bar, and we also spent some time in the adequate but slightly-cramped gym. The entertainment on board seemed quite good, although I go to very few shows. The Irish duo were very popular and they attracted quite a following. We met lots of lovely people on this ship and all in all had a wonderful time! Read Less

We choose this cruise for the ports of call to India. Arrived in Dubia Airport and transfered by private taxi to Abu Dhabi Cruise terminal (time 1. 40 mins). Arabian Sea & India Maiden Voyage Embarkation was straight forward and we were able to find our cabin quickly. First impression in public areas was clean upholstery was in good condition. Daytime, Self service free Tea Coffee & soft drinks available on deck 10 Dinning we only used the Main restaurant once,I prefer to you use the Self Service Restaurants. Ocean view Cafe on deck 10 the name cafe is miss leading a self service restaurant, no trays provided to carry your meal a variety of food stations if walk to other end of restaurant you find the grill which serves freshly cooked chicken salmon & steaks,I complained to the Restaurant Manager that the soup was always warm French beans and carrots for four nights running the chefs did vary this ,if you like bread and butter pudding it appears every night in a variety of flavours one night it change to a sponge pudding (thought the pasty chief was on holiday) but the bread and butter pudding reappeared for the rest of the cruise ,there is a selection of cold deserts and a ice cream bar. The restaurant is open to 1 am providing pizza or pasta and bread to make a sandwich,The menu gets boring after 12 days. Visited the Celebrity Theatre every night, Celebrity entertainment team were very good in dance and singing routines + guest artist's, the entertainment was very good. However in the bars /sitting area's the music was poor. The service was very good considering the bars were busy. Ports of call Dubia ,New Mangalore,Goa (Mormugao) Mumbia (Bombay), Khasab On 9th of Dec we could not docked in Khasab due to bad weather and sailed for Abu Dhabi (docked around 1730 hrs) , We were told we could not go ashore, @ 2215 hrs over ships tannoy all Passengers to go ashore with their passports for face time with immigrations officials and hand over their passports in cruise terminal building it would be fair to say majority of passengers (approx 2,000) were not pleased this caused loss of enjoyment on our last night onboard the ship we had to vacate our cabins by 0700 hrs the following morning, the Guest relation staff did a good work that night in handling complains from passengers , No Senior officers were to be seen in fact I never sighted the ship Master in 12 days, We did receive a letter of apology from Celebrity Cruises for the inconvenience caused on the evening of the 9th. I have sailed into Abu Dhabi with another cruise ship company ,yes there is immigration process but not at 2215 hrs. Would I sail on this ship again No. Read Less
