This is rated as a 5-star ship - it barely approaches a 3-star, no wonder it needs a refurbishment! I would suggest a total makeover or sending it to the scrape yard. Some of the negatives: Too few restaurant staff and mainly very inexperienced when it comes to customer service No self service laundry facilities Library is a misnomer - should be entitled a closet with a glass wall and virtually no books present Ship is dirty overall Food is substandard Cabin stewards are down to one per cabin and far too many cabins for them to service in a timely manner Disembarkation was ridiculous. We were called to leave the ship 1.5 hours BEFORE our transfer was to leave dockside....we ended up standing around for that length of time when we could have been onboard drinking our morning coffee! Daily activities were mainly concentrated on selling stuff - need a major overhaul of the so-called social activities If this is the Celebrity ship standard, you can count me out - would not sail with them again. To visit Petra in Jordan,The Celebrity Constellation is definately not 5Star ,Modern ,orLuxury as Advertised.the ship is tired throughout .Dining in the San Marco restaurant was slow and dark due to a number of broken and missing lamps, every course ordered took around thirty minutes to arrive, when on the 8.30 sitting most nights it was not unusual to leave after 11.00pm. What is described as a stateroom is just in reality a small cabin with the tiniest of bathroom, (I have a bigger bathroom in my camper.)valances around the bed were torn pieces of metal sticking out around the bed at shin height which were cured by placing pool towels under the mattress and hanging them over the end of the bed (never been in 5star accommodation with this option?) Not a 5Star cruise more like hovering around a THREE. If lots of Tee shirts, shorts and caps on backwards at evening supper is your thing this is the cruise ship for you .why do Celebrity encourage Dinner suits and then welcome guests dressed like hotdog sellers in ?. I have been on many cruises (over 85) and this is the most BORING cruise that I have ever taken. I am VERY disappointed with Celebrity and do not plan to sail them again. Our cruise from Athens to Abu Dhabi had many sea days. I love sea days because there are generally many daytime activities to keep me busy. I am not talking about the junk "seminars" which are actually infomercials to sell you something, I am talking about indoor games and activities such as trivia, tribond, bingo, battle of the sexes, scavenger hunts, name that tune, etc etc. During the sea days there were generally 2 daytime trivias and a name that tune. That's it. NOTHING ELSE. We had hours of down time which I don't like. I like being busy and going from game to game like most cruise lines and most other Celebrity ships offer. Bingo was canceled 3 out of 5 times due to lack of interest. I complained about the lack of game-type activities to Rich, the useless Cruise Director, as well as to Jess, the woman who did most of the trivias. My suggestions and complaints fell on deaf ears. There was really nothing to watch on TV (unless you paid for a movie) or wanted to watch the news (such as CNN or BBC) or Celebrity commercials which took up most of the channels.. They only showed a movie in the lounge once during our 8 sea days. There were some lectures on various topics during the cruise and they were taped and played ad naseum on the cabin TV. I have not been on Celebrity in 5 years and was SHOCKED at how this cruise line has fallen in quality. it is no better than Carnival or Royal Caribbean now. You are always hounded to buy something, the quality of food and service has gone WAY down and you are nickel and dimed at every opportunity. Staff cutbacks show at every turn - there is no longer a cruise staff to organize activities, there is ONE person! There is nobody in the library to organize and shelve books. Cabins used to have 2 people to clean them. Now's there one. Many of the crew speak English poorly and/or they are hard to understand. I also think that a lot of them don't understand English very well. My cabin steward and waiter and busboy are perfect examples of this as well as many crew in the Lido buffet restaurant. A few good things - the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict in the lido buffet restaurant for breakfast was awesome. So were the eggs benedict themselves. The Maitre'd and Headwaiters were very helpful. The price of the cruise was very good. They took our safety very seriously and I think that they even had armed guards on the ship when we were sailing in the Gulf of Aden. The WIFI was a bit expensive but worked very well and fast most of the time. I really appreciated having the speedy WIFI. I am sure that there are many people who took this cruise who enjoyed it but my mother & I certainly did not. Oh well. I did enjoy getting to Petra, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Also, Crete has great shopping! Read Less

We sailed on the spring 13 day transatlantic to Rome ,previous Celebrity cruise was on Silhouette last summer.embarkation was fairly painless as we were Select members. We did have a bit of a wait for our cabins and used this to get better acquainted with the ship.we went to the caffe al Bacio and had excellent service and delicious coffees and cake. However this was the last time we received any great service on deck 3 or 4. We have been on 12 cruises in total. Our cabin was an oceanview 7000 and ver spacious , looking out over the helipad. Cabin attendants wear excellent and perhaps a bit too zealous as we were walked in on a few times even after we placed the do not disturb sign on the door We had the bar setup in the cabin and everything arrived on time.this is where things start to fall apart. We called to confirm our select dining and were told the only time was 9 pm. I Explained that would be too late but they said nothing could be done so we ate in the Oceanview Grill that evening and as it turned out for the rest of the cruise. I will explain later... Anyway we enjoyed the meals in the Oceanview and the staff were very hard working but cutbacks were very obvious and I felt sorry for them. Evenings were the best times to obtain seating as the rest of the time it was a zoo and we had problems getting food and a table there. The next evening I called down again and again was told no seating was available at the time we wanted, neither 5.30 nor 6 o'clock. At this point I became annoyed and explained that we had paid for select dining and it was suggested that we try the pay for food venues. I had to argue and finally we were told to show up at 6 pm. We went to the dining room and were seated where we proceeded to wait for twenty minutes before a waiter arrived. I saw staff standing around and giggling. We then left the dining room and did not return. The maître d called and asked why and we explained service was too slow. Just asked for our cabin number. This set a pattern on this cruise. Read Less
