This is the 2nd cruise we sailed with Celebrity, we were impressed with Eclipse last year and decide to join another cruise with Celebrity. This is a slightly smaller and older ship than the Eclipse, but we still had a lot of fun in this 9 nights cruise trip. First of all, we love the shows at night, the performances, singer and dancers did a fantastic jobs, we caught the show every evenings and make sure we don't miss it. The onboard activities were Okay, a lot of them are the same as what we played last year, so it is a bit lack of surprise for us, but the games are still fun to watch. We still had a great time. We did not go to the specialty dinning, so we stayed at St-Marco Dinning room for your dinner. They updated the menu everyday with plenty of choices. We tried a lot of different food everyday and they had Lobster Tail and Scallops which are my favorite! We also had our breakfast and sometimes lunch and snacks at OceanCafe, honestly the food are getting a bit boring. They did change their Chef Specials everyday, but other than that, the other food in the buffet was very similar everyday. With a cruise of 9 nights, you may get bored. My wife went to their morning sketch a couple of times early in the morning, but other dance or yoga class has to pay, so we skipped that. The gym was clean and the machines were fairly new. They have a basketball court, which is often forgotten by a lot of guests. I spent a good 45 minutes there while at the sea. The basketball are a bit old and some of time are not pumped. Service was great, there were officers teaching us to use the new App on Board, which is very useful to see the daily activities and communicate with your cruise mates and family on board. Most of the staff are very friendly and had smile with them at all time. However, my steward's job was really bad. First, she never come greet us or come talk to us during the 9 nights of the cruise. Second, she always forgot stuff in our room. For example, we had no agenda for a couple day, toiletries not refilled, no clean towels. Dirty cups are not taking away, etc. It was horrible, and we decide to talk to the guest relation after 1 week. They sent a steward supervisor to talk to us and apologized, and they gave us a follow call the days after to make sure our room and supplies are Okay. I would say that it could be just a bad individual who didn't properly do her job and not Celebrity's standard. Overall, the ship is clean and easy to navigate. We like Celebrity and have great experience at the ship, but we like to see Celebrity creating more new activities, providing more and different foods in OceanCafe daily, so it keep their guest impressed with this Premium Cruiseline. Pre-cruise: As twice before, we had reserved a room with a package at the Hotel San Giorgio in Civitavecchia. In addition to the room, the package included a shuttle service from Funcimo Airport, Rome and to the Hotel, a good three course dinner at their nice restaurant “Bistro 34”, breakfast next day, and after breakfast – shuttle to the port. Embarkation: Went very smoothly. We have earlier sailed on several cruises in the Mediterranean, but never late fall. Therefore, we were a little anxious about the weather conditions at this time of the year. But more about the weather later in this review. The Ship: It is a few years since we last were on a Celebrity cruise, and then only on S-Class ships. This was the first time we were aboard an M-Class ship. But it turned out that we had nothing “to be worried about”! We found the Constellation to be a nice ship, and we think the ship seems mostly well maintained. Moreover, we really enjoyed the indoor Thalassotherapy Pool. Stateroom info: We had booked a Deluxe Veranda Stateroom on deck seven. It was comfortable. Two special comments: Some of the joins in the tiles on the bathroom were not clean, and some part of the balcony floor was not nice. We were very satisfied with our stateroom attendant. Dining: In connection with our embarkation, we were surprised to be informed that we had not been assigned to a set dining time in the MDR on deck five. We were on the wait list. But after talking to the maître, fortunately it was sorted out after a short while. We were pleased with the quality of the food we selected, and we had always excellent and pleasant service on our table no. 462, from our waiter Mayuresh and ass. waiter Praful, both from India, and from our sommelier, Lorenz from the Philippines. We really looked forward to every dinner with pleasure. We had all our breakfasts at the Oceanview Café, and also lunches, if we got back on time, after being ashore. During “peak hours” it could be a bit difficult to find an unoccupied table. When the weather was nice, we really liked to eat in the outside part of the Oceanview. We were pleased with the food selection. The employees did a good job of clearing tables etc., and the bars service was very good. We found the burgers at the Poolside Grill to be good. The Café al Bacio impressed us with its wide menu of coffee and teas, and with an excellent waiter service. Bars: We were very pleased with the service in all bars, and we think it was extra impressive with a view to the fact that the majority of the passengers also had a Beverage Package. Our favorite hang-out bar/lounge, was the Rendez-Vous, where we always received a friendly bar service, right after we were seated. Entertainment: With the exception of a male group, who performed Four Seasons Songs in the Theater, what we think in an excellent way, we were not particularly impressed. Unfortunately, we think most of the live music in the Rendez-Vous, was too noisy. The Captain’s Club Society: We are Elite Members, but we never attended the Elite Cocktail Hour, so I can't give any comment on that event. The Voyage: This cruise should have visited 8 ports of call - Gibraltar and 7 ports in Italy and France - in addition 2 sea days. But it happened unfortunately not quite as planned. During the first 8 days of the cruise, we had great weather. But especially the last 2 days, we were strucked by really bad weather with high winds and rough seas. And Constellation had to alter 2 ports. Instead of sailing to Portofino and Livorno, we had to sail to La Spezia as a replacement port. We were docked in La Spezia for 2 days, and on the second day it became really dramatic. The ship’s moorings broke, caused by the bad weather with heavy winds, and Constellation hit the cruise ship Costa Magica, which was docked behind us. Fortunately no one was hurt! The incident with Costa Magica happened in the afternoon, but no information was given until in the evening. Later, it was informed that those passengers, who wanted a free coach ride to the Funcimo Airport in Rome later in the evening / night, could register with Guest Relations on deck 3. Along with several hundred other passengers, we stood in line to be registered. We were told, that further information about the coach departures, would be announced later in the evening/night. My wife and I travel a lot, both on cruises and other ways of traveling. We have both experienced and know that unforeseen thinks can occur during a trip. In such cases, we also know that you unfortunately not always can thrust the information given by crew and employees, is correct. Their first priority will often be to try to “calm down the situation”. Personally, we therefore always in the best possible way, “closely try to follow up”, if unfortunate incidents should occur when we are travelling. After a couple of hours, we responded to the lack of information about the bus departures. We therefore took our baggage from our stateroom and found a place to sit down together with many other passengers near Guest Relations on deck 3. After a while we realized that the registration with the Guest Relations earlier in the evening, did not meant anything. You had to queue up. “First come, first served”. We understood later that we probably were some of the last ones who got a coach ride to the Airport. Our coach left the port around 3.00 am, and the ride took about 6 hours. Due to lack of space for suitcases on our coach, the coach was not full. So we had a relatively ok ride on mostly highways to the airport, and we arrived well in advance to our previously booked flight. I understand that it probably would not have been possible for Celebrity in the evening and night to get enough coaches to carry many hundred passengers on a 6 hour coach ride. But I feel really sorry for those of my fellow passengers who waited in vain in their staterooms for many hours for announcements for coach departures, announcements that never came. And therefore did not get the chance to catch a coach to the Funcimo Airport in Rome, and again maybe lost their flights. Overall – with the exception of the last 2 days of the cruise, we are very pleased with this our first cruise with Constellation. A nice ship, with an excellent and friendly crew. Read Less

My wife and I made this cruise to get rest, and this is what we got but we have some comments about the trip The crew and the overall situation was wat we expected for a 4 star cruise but the dining situation was not something for a 4 star cruise ship it look more a standard meal on a ferry for truckdrivers than for people who made a cruise for a lot of money. several times we ask wat is there on ore plate can you give me a magnifying glass almost no vis to get alone mead and a very little complements but overcook and toastless. This is for the ala carte restaurant and the buffet I have eat for 6 days steak so that I have the feeling that there was something in my stomach. A other point of cretic is that every time we want of the ship in a port we need to pay extra for this bus ore the tender something We want to know before we made the trip. This don’t mean that we don’t enjoy or trip in the Mediterranean zee We enjoy the ship, crew and the company of the rest of the passengers. All to all We missed the cherry on the cake and this for a 4 star cruise. Read Less

Need to start this review by saying we had a great holiday, we travelled with friends, the literary was great and the weather fantastic. In our opinion there are lots of positives and we can only speak about our own experiences. We travelled using the Jet Sail offer - this we found to be excellent - we rocked up at Stansted parked the car and within no time we were sitting in a very comfortable lounge drinking wine, coffee, tea or juice along with nibbles. Breakfast on the flight was really nice and in no time at all we were landing at an old airbase. Coach was waiting, off to the ship and next thing we knew we were on the ship enjoying our first G & T. The return journey is slightly different - no private lounge and we were delayed by two hours due to the weather. Still a good flight home and from landing to driving off from the airport it took no more than 20 minutes!!!!! We booked Aqa class as we always do - this ensures we get to eat in the Blu restaurant which we particularly enjoy. I have to say the food, service and attention to detail was absolutely fantastic and made our breakfast and particularly our evening dining experience one of the highlights of our holiday. The sommelier was brilliant and we never once had an empty glass. Our cabin was clean and well kept by our attendant who made sure we had everything we needed. Overall we thought the ship was kept very clean although some times the public toilets might have been better. The Officers on the ship including the Captain were almost invisible - on all our other Celebrity cruises the Captain, his cruise director and other top officers have always been very engaging. Never once saw the Captain, would no know who the cruise director was and never once was asked by any senior member of staff about our holiday. The entertainment on the ship was frankly very poor. There was a duo Izzy & Mo who were excellent but apart from them it was awful. We did the Silent Disco one night an that was brilliant and we looked forward to going again when they repeated the evening on deck but the music was awful, very few people dancing and gradually everyone left which was very disappointing. We found all the staff to be very helpful and everyone was working hard to ensure we had a good holiday. The bar staff were very busy at times so just be patient and all is good in the end. The days at sea were again busy and finding a lounger with a bit of room is almost impossible. We do not like being cramped around the pool so we are happy to sit on our balcony and read etc - but that was a problem. We were on this ship two years ago and I am sure this is a new thing that has been introduced - on the top deck is now an outside cinema that shows fits five times a day - no problem with that except if your stateroom (like ours was) is at the back of the ship then the noise from the film is a big issue. We, and others complained and to be fair they did turn down the volume but it was still loud and was not good. Why can they not simply give headphones to the people who want to watch the film? The ports were great and we enjoyed each and every one of them, we always sort our own trips so unable to comment on the Celebrity excursions but lots of people said to us they found them very expensive. We really like the Celebrity brand, you know you will get a good holiday, we feel tat although they are not cheap you do get good value for money. But we would not sail on the Constellation again . . . as many other posters have mentioned the ship is now showing its age and Celebrity need to sort this out sooner than later. For instance on the Eclipse you can sit in some of the bars and enjoy music and watch people dancing on the auditorium - this cannot happen on this ship and the rooms where music and dancing take place have no atmosphere and are dark and dingy. We were considering a cruise to Asia later this year on this ship but have decided to put that on hold as 14 days with several sea days on the ship is unfortunately not for us. Read Less

Michael's Club is only available to top level Captains Club and those in the top level Suites eg Royal Suite. It is not available to Concierge Class suite passengers. We have dined in the Tuscan Grille which is excellent, quiet and relaxed. We tried Qsine but found it too quirky for our taste and the noise level so high we couldnt hear the waiter telling us about the meal. Our wine waiters have been excellent in recommending wines of our liking - we purchased the beverage package. It was offered several weeks before the cruise at a discount, as was the dining package. San Marco is very good, we choose a set dining time but you can book any time dining as well. The Ocean buffet is for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a wide variety of choices. I am gluten free and was able to be accommodated at all the restuarants. The crew are very helpful and friendly. Read Less

I was forced to choose this cruise because Celebrity relocated Equinox to the Caribbean after I had booked a Greek Island Cruise on her, so in fairness this cruise was 'second choice'. I had cruised on Constellation many years ago before the launching of the Solstice Class ships which I have cruised on very happily for some years. Constellaion, is not in the same league as the Solstice class ships. Despite a recent visit to the dry dock she looks dated and lacks charisma.'Over painting ' may have looked good at first but rust is already breaking through. The sun beds had not been replaced just frame painted which was scratched and scuffed after a short time.Upholstery had been replaced in some ares and this brightened the interior a little.Loungers with cushions brightened and gave comfort on the sun deck, but all other loungers were without pads. Concierge Cabin was OK and well serviced but no Sparkling wine or flowers this trip. Restaurants:¨Ocean view, Lay out confusing at first food mediocre and often cool Main Restaurant, food of a good standard but noisey Tuscan excellent in every respect The biggest disappointment was the removal of The Murano to be replaced by Sushi on 5, what a let down! The loss of this restaurant would definitely stop me booking Constellation again, Generally Officers were seen and polite, on social occasions friendly. Many staff were cheerful and accommodating but some, appeared to lack interest. There was a general lack of atmosphere in most of the bars except the Martini Bar which as always generated a good atmosphere. Finally I enjoyed the cruise partly down to the good weather and The Tuscan Grill which served superior food. Would I book again, unlikely on Constellation Read Less

Cruising the Mediterranean in early Fall is a great way to avoid crowds at the port cities while still enjoying nice weather that ranged between 70 and 80 degrees during the day. The Constellation is an older ship with about 2,000 guests, which makes It easy to get around without encountering long lines. We had an oceanview cabin on deck 3 near the Grand Foyer, which was a very convenient location. Our stateroom attendant was a friendly and exceptionally hard worker that kept the cabin spotless and would go out of his way to open our cabin door when we passed him in the hallway. Some of the bar staff and main dining room waiters were less friendly and not so eager to please the guests. We had to continually ask for food items that were not served as ordered. Occasionally, the food wasn't very warm or was overcooked. Even though I handed our main waiter and sommelier extra tip money one evening, it didn't seem to improve the table service; however, the sommelier was more accommodating in keeping our wine glasses full. A major concern with the main dining room service is that it took so long (2+ hours) to eat that we were always late for the nightly entertainment. Many other people said the same thing causing them to eat at the Oceanview Buffet to save time. On some nights, the food in the buffet was much better than that served in the main dining room. The itinerary included several great ports that were very enjoyable to tour around - Alicante Spain, Seville Spain, Livorno Italy and Ajaccio Corsica. These ports offered many nice shore excursions, some of which I booked independent of the ship. These private tours in 8 passenger vans are far more pleasant than the large bus tours that the ship offers. And, they can be arranged for considerably less cost than the ship. Our highlight tour of the cruise was an all day trip to Cinque Terre that I organized using the Cruise Critic discussion boards to add fellow passengers to our group. This area of Italy consists of 5 quaint villages comparable to the small cities along the Amalfi coast. The other port stops included Gibraltar UK, Sete France and Provence France. We had already visited Gibraltar & Provence on previous cruises, so we spent those days on board. We did get off at Sete to complete a walking tour of the city; however, there wasn't much to see and the sidewalks were littered in trash and animal droppings. Watch your step. This was our 14th cruise on Celebrity ships over the past 6 years. There has been a noticeable decline in the overall cruise experience with Celebrity. The company has found ways to charge for more things on board that were once free; they have reduced the quality & selection of the food in the main dining room; they have removed some of the liquors, beers and wine from the Classic drink package and put them on the premium package; and, they have reduced the variety of entertainment throughout the day. We cruises last year with the Constellation and the public areas are nice refurbished. I hope that the cabins also in a short time will be refurbished. On this ship you can always have a quiet place to relax and also in the public areas there is plenty space. The food was good and the service excellent as usual by Celebrity. The embarkation in Barcelona was very good and we were within 15 minutes on board. We had select dining and the food in the main restaurant was good and also the service was very good. We had balcony cabin cat. 2A number 7161 and it was a nice and clean cabin. No noise at all and not far from the elevators. The shows were not so good as we used to by Celebrity although the Celebrity orchestra was very good. The music in the public areas was also good. The ports are very nice specially Cadiz, Gibraltar and Ajaccio. We cruised already many times with Celebrity and we will certainly cruise with the Constellation again. Read Less

I have just returned home after one of the best experiences ever. My daughter and I embarked on the Celebrity constellation in Barcelona which ended in Venice a few days ago. From the lovely young man who looked after our cabin to the fantastic waiter who served us on our table in the restaurant, the drinks waiter, the gorgeous lady who welcomed us each night,, the chefs, every single person on the ship was polite, helpful, and made me feel very special. The buffet had to be seen to be believed, such a variety of food and so much of it. The shows were amazing and I loved each one. The cabin was clean and the beds were comfortable. We found the excursions were well planned and because the weather was extremely hot to see a welcoming icy drink and icy flannels waiting for us before we boarded was so appreciated. I don't think that any more could have been done to make the cruise one of the most enjoyable experiences ever. I would certainly love to do another given the opportunity. A very big thank you to Celebrity, well done. Read Less

Our cruise to the Mediterranean on the Constellation was truly amazing. We visited Italy, France and Spain. Cabin 7051 was adequate. Ship has been refurbished, but still shows wear. Although we would sail on it again. TV reception was nonexistent. As we like to keep up with world events, it was upsetting. Blackout lasted for five days until they got tired of our complaining and fixed it. Shower in cabin is largest we've ever had!!!! Ports were all beautiful. We formed our own tours in all ports through Cruise Critic participants except for Portofino. We took the ship's tour to Cinque Terre. They did a wonderful job. Since Cinque Terre is far, we were glad to have the reassurance that we would be back on time or the ship would be waiting. We had heard stories of many people nearly missing the boat due to the distance of Cinque Terre away from port and the many means of transport necessary to get there. Bon voyage! Read Less

We had sailed on Connies inaugural cruise and had the most fabulous time. There was no fault with the food, accommodations, shore excursions, nightlife....the decor was a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other lines. So, with such great memories we had no hesitations and booked a family cruise. Embarkation disorganized, port staff very unhelpful and rude. Despite my pleas that I was travelling with my elderly disabled mother, we were forced to line up with the rest of the passengers even though I am a "elite" traveller. No help upon arrival, much different from the inaugural cruise where a cruise member escorted us to our cabins, we were left to our own devices to locate our cabin! The quality of food has gone down hill when even compared to our previous cruise of 2013. The variety quality left much to be desired. Celebrity was known for the quality of their food, sadly this is no longer true. The cabin was dated, bathroom in need of an update, even though the brochure said that it was "refurbished " mold, peeling paint, balcony door locks sticking, poorly flushing toilets.... To add insult, there was garbage left in our cabin that the room attendants failed to notice and remove. I would question how actually "clean" is my cabin. I wiped down all surfaces with my Lysol wipes! If possible, book your own shore excursions. The one offered by celebrity is $$$$$$and not worth the $. I don't mind paying extra if the quality was there. The guide in Barcelona sat at the front of the bus and read out loud the script on his phone. I was seated at the front with my mother and witnessed it! He would stop at a sight, told us to come back to the bus after we "make pictures!" To make matters worse, on the return trip, he was walking so fast, he left my entire family stranded at the Sagrada familia!? The ship's staff said they would investigate and all she said was that we all returned safely to the ship! Oh, and they refunded us our cab fare only". This is surely not the "beyond our expectations?!". The entertainment catered to the UK crowded and far below previous experiences. It might have well been the crew members who put on the show! Amateurs! The dining room was crowded, and the noise level was deafening. It was difficult to carry on any dinner conversation! The table next to us was so loud, we asked for a table change, they were unable to accommodate because the dining room was full, yet they were able to accommodate the dining your way passengers. It would have to be a very good deal for this loyal cruiser to sail with celebrity anytime soon. Read Less

This was or first ever cruise, so we took friends' advice and went for the higher end of the market. We were not disappointed!! (Gross understatement!!). It was fabulous from start to finish. I can't understand what possible cause for complaint anyone could have with this cruise or ship. From the moment we boarded to the time we disembarked we were treated to what can only be described as service more akin to a floating 5-star hotel. We were on deck 8 and had the most attentive and willing deck attendants- nothing was too much trouble for them, The cleanliness of the state-room is the standard by which future cruises (yes - there will be more with Celeb Cruises!!) will be judged. We had clean towels twice a day and the shower curtain was changed each day. There was champagne waiting for us and canapes delivered each afternoon. Every member of staff had a smile and a genuine greeting for everyone they passed by - it was amazing how they made everyone feel welcome. The food was outstanding. The Ocean View had an amazing selection to choose from - breakfast, lunch and dinner. San Marco was excellent with the waiters and someliers giving perfect service. What can you say about the Tuscan grill - except absolute perfection in terms of service, ambiance and quality. WOW!! Even though we tried not to, we put on several pounds - the food is amazing. Disembarkation for shore excursions went swiftly and efficiently - they dealt with huge numbers of people in a calm and professional manner. It is a mark of pure class when you get back to the ship and waiting for you are ice-cold towels and cool drinks underneath gazebos. The officers were sometimes there to either see us of or welcome us back, even though I'm sure they had other things to do. The entertainment was totally professional in a wonderful theatre. On the decks throughout were musicians of the highest quality, The only disappointment we had was on the Dubrovnik shore excursion - there were so many other tourists that it was like a cattle yard within the old town: I would warn others that this might not be a good option. The trip to Aix en Provence could have done with being a little longer - the guide was pushed for time, and there would have been plenty of time for an extra hour as the guests who went to Florence were back a couple of hours later later. What a lovely town. Read Less

We have cruised with Celebrity for over 15 years. We chose the Iberian Peninsula cruise as we had not been to the Ports on this cruise earlier. The Check-in took ages in spite being Elite Members. They had the bookings messed up - we had two cabins allotted to us. They took time to resolve the issue. Disembarkation was a breeze. Constellation is an old ship. With the refit and adding extra cabins it is a mess at Common areas of Swimming Pool/Jacuzzis, Oceanview Cafe & the Gym. The Cabin was normal Balcony Cabin.\ The Dinning Restaurant - Dinner was crowded with tables close to each other. Not so earlier. Food in the Dinning Hall was good. In the Oceanview Cafe it was a challenge to find a place to sit and then to get food. The Crockery & Cutlery cleanliness was pathetic. They kept WET plates, unwashed plates & mugs. Plates with black marks. They had an excuse for everything, but set things right. Very disappointing from this point of view. The some Shows were good rest average. Celebrity Life did a good job of their activities We wanted to book two tickets for the "Under Siege" shore excursion at Gibraltar. Only one was confirmed, second waitlisted. Next day the status did not change. On asking to cancel the confirmed one. They immediately confirmed the second one. We had some friends who we met on board and advised of this excursion. They went to book the same. Got their reservation without a hassle. Never understood this game. The Guides at Shore excursions had no regards to people with difficulties, continued on at their own pace. Most Ports we visited were fantastic. Since we were at Bilbao - overnight, on arrival we picked up a rental car (AVIS) at the Port area and drove (4Hours one way) to Lourdes in France. It was the High Point of the Vacation. We cruise every year - have done 15 cruises with Celebrity. This one was amongst the last favourable. Read Less

Sold as a premium cruise Celebrity Constellation fails miserably. Carnival, Princess, Norwegian and P&O leave them for dead. You are nickel and dimed every inch of the way with overpriced shore excursions and transfers e.g. They charged Euro 22 for a Venice city transfer by boat and the Vaporetto made the identical trip for Euro 15. The"helpful" staff did not mention the availability of the Vaporetto. Drinks are expensive and get truly ridiculous when an automatic 18% gratuity is applied. Meals are unexciting. The wait staff in the restaurants are excellent but with few exceptions drink waiters are surly. The evening shows are of good quality but there is minimal incidental entertainment before and after the shows, unless you like a DJ or the same band singing the same songs every night. If I ever hear green green grass of home again!!!!!!! The ship is tired and overpriced. We will certainly not sail with them again. Read Less

my wife and i have been on many cruises (30+) over the last 30 years. we have been on many different lines. never on the super premium e.g.: crystal), but on the ones right below. we have sailed in celebrity before a few times. we really enjoyed the line. the last time was about 5 years ago. we selected this cruise because of the ports. we had been to italy several times. never to the dalmatian coast.(croatia, montenegro, etc.). ports were wonderful. the trip to venice was very nice. our travel agent (virtuoso in sherman oaks ca) was extremely helpful. she suggested we upgrade for the over the water portion on alitalia to a comfort cabin class. it was well worth the extra few hundred dollars. we went to florence for a few days, then took the train to venice for embarkation. embarkation was a nightmare! not enough agents. total disorganization! took us 2 hours to get through. the club classes had no lines. we had 500-700 in line and another 500-700 on seats. we are capt. club members, but not a high enough classification. a real cattle call. the capt. and crew including the cruise director were wonderful as was the cabin stewardess (jennifer) whom we gave an extra tip. entertainment was good. the dining room personnel were ok, just doing their jobs. breakfast servers were very nice. breakfast ok. typical cruise food. dinners were TERRIBLE!. pork and beans just one example. from an upscale line. unacceptable. premium restaurants were good. the ship was geared to the suite customers. 2 prvate premium restaurants for them. private clubs. roped off seating in the theater. all perks for those customers. that's fine. but, we were made to feel there were 2 separate classes on what was supposed to be a classless ship. will think twice before spending our $5000+ with this line again Read Less

My wife and I have been on over 50 cruises on many different lines. We had heard great things about Celebrity and decided to try a 5 day cruise on the Constellation. The cruise departed from Miami and called at Roatan and Cozumel. Arrival We had made parking arrangements with Premier Parking after reading some good reviews on line. What a terrible mistake. We arrived at their lot at 12:45 pm, the time on our reservationn and were told to leave and come back in a couple of hours. That they had no room for any more cars. Well, where do you go in Miami for an hour or two when waiting to park your car? We looked around for another lot and finally called the home office and got them to intervene and have the lot start valet parking. Of course, then we had to wait over 45 minutes for a shuttle to get to the port! Called a cab, but they never showed. So we finally arrived at the port at about 2:45 pm. There was no line to check in, but some how the lady took about 10 minutes to get us checked in and did not swipe the credit card for my wife ( we found out later). Once on the ship, we were greeted by free drinks, but no directions. We found out room and it was made up and ready for occupancy. We went up to the Sea View and had lunch. The lifeboat drill was painless and over fairly quickly and we set sail for Roatan. Room: Our room was a standard inside and was very nice. Had a great shower, much bigger than most ships, but poorly arranged closets. You could not open the bathroom door if someone was trying to get in the closet. Otherwise the room was fine. The biggest complaint we had about the Constellation was that it should have been refurbished a year ago, not 2013. There were torn duvet covers, stained blankets, stained towels and mildew in the bathrooms. This is not what one expects from a top drawer cruise line. Food: Dining room food was very good. Best French Onion Soup I have ever had. All dishes were served hot and had good taste. Found very little that was not good. Service in the dining room was excellent, again among the best I have had. We had Early Dining. The food on the Buffet was bland and never changed. I thought they could do much better. The Pizza was just average. The Buffet set up was confusing and people seemed to have a lot of trouble figuring out where to go to get what. Entertainment: Excellent. Of the five acts 4 were among the best I have seen. Only the juggler was not very good. The Cruise Director was good and very approachable. Ship Condition: Needs refurbishment. Threadbare and dirty in places. Also, was told by a number of Celebrity fans, don't judge the line by this ship. I hope they are correct. Corners were cut because it was a five day cruise-- no lobster, no prawns, etc. Seems to me they would go all out to impress you so that you would do a longer cruise with them. We had 10 in our group and none were excited about going on another Celebrity Cruise. They said this one was just OK. Disembarkation-- Very quick and very smooth-- no complaints at all. Overall: Would try Celebrity again if the itinerary was one I wanted and the price was good. But if I have to choose, everything else being equal, I would said with Princess or Holland America before Celebrity. Read Less

The whole experience was excellent- having been used to smaller lines like Seaborne we were worried about Celebrity. The cabin was spacious enough - no bath only a shower but spotlessly clean. We paid a little extra for the Concierge Deck where we received capanes and fresh fruit daily - luxury robes and plentiful toiletries, personal stationery etc. The cabin attendant was excellent and the cabin was spotless every day. Breakfast was taken in the restaurant rather than the buffet and was freshly cooked and well served. The buffet lunch was great - the only problem we had we lukewarm food in the restaurant at night, but after a word withe the maitre d' this was soon solved and the rest of the meals were piping hot. We did not take the tours as having cruised many times before we found it much, much cheaper to 'go alone' using local trains. ferries etc. All in all an excellent cruise, very well organised and well recommended. We arrived after a good flight with Easyjet from Luton and cleared through the modern terminal at Barcelona. A rapid taxi drive by a relation of Fernando Alonso took us to the harbour terminal in around 20 minutes and relieved me of around 40 euros. I had not been looking forward to the boarding procedure as a previous cruise on Constellation from Miami had been chaotic in the cruise terminal, however this was not to be the case on this cruise and literally with no queue we were on board within minutes. Our previous cruise on board this ship had been in the Caribbean a year earlier so we wee keen to see the changes made. Firstly our cabin where we had travelled Concierge class last time and I thought the difference was hardly worth the excess. We were not disappointed with our 1B balcony cabin. Some of the changes were;- A flat screen television with sky services and a few other channels was welcome to keep in touch with the world, our bill and where we were. Some furniture changes and no doubt some of the soft furnishings. Eating was much the same and the main and self service restaurants are serving the same good quality food with very pleasant waiters but a couple of the speciality restaurants had changed. We did not visit Tuscan Grill which was new but heard good reports. We had enjoyed Ocean liners on our last cruise and although it was of very high quality it did not quite seem to be as outstanding as my last visit, maybe to be fair it was the lack of novelty to me. We did visit the Crepe Bar which seemed to be very quiet throughout the cruise and it was extremely good. We were served by the most delightful waitress and all the staff were extremely pleasant. We were treated like old friends every time we passed the venue on the rest of the cruise. One of the biggest changes that we found on this cruise was the entertainment and the shows that were put on by a troupe of dancers and singers were just excellent. A magician was fairly good however a Welsh singer comedienne was hilarious although some of her humour may not of amused our American travellers as much! We also visited Michaels Club were our American cruisers were in hysterics over Perry Grant but I am afraid he failed to tickle my fancy! Our docking into Villefrance was cancelled due to bad weather and we had to divert to Monte Carlo, everybody say shame! Very much appreciated and quite a tight fit for Constellation on her first visit however the heavens had arranged a constant downpour and we were soaked nearly as much as the elderly lady who fell in the harbour. Next visit to Genoa was poor due to the many lowlife that hang around this harbour. Livorno and Cittevechia were good as was Naples(watch out for pickpockets!) as the sun was shining after all but the Italians have euro signs flashing in their eyeballs as soon as they see a cruise ship. This ship is still a beautiful cruiser mainly because of the staff who put in heart and soul into their jobs. Well done Celebrity but just keep an eye on the cost of port transfers, excursions and wine. We know you have to make money but don't spoil the ship by overpricing. Read Less

This was our first cruise since 2007,the last one being Canada/NE on the Constellation. This was our 3rd cruise on this ship, and we've loved the ship, and the ambiance. On arrival at the port, we had a short wait, and were allowed on board about noon, but the staterooms weren't ready until about 1pm. Our stateroom attendant, Schubert, was excellent, looking after every detail, and responding immediately to whatever question we had. We also enjoyed the special little touches offered to elite travelers. Some have said the appetizer bread was stale, but it doesn't take long for those little squares to dry out. The champagne was cold, and the coupons were much appreciated. Our waiter, Augusto, was also excellent, and his assistant..Lorena? was very good, as well. They were both very personable, and made dining a pleasure. The food....not so much. It was OK, but I noted that the dinner served on our return flight had more flavor than any of the meals in the dining room. Little things seemed s bit "off",such as the shrimp cocktails being served in a small dessert dish, rather than the cocktail dishes used previously. Nothing big to complain about, just a slight feeling of cut-backs. My husband has difficulty walking very far, so we can't comment on the entertainment, and we only did one tour, but it was great. A lady on the Cruise Critic roll call arranged a tour of the Amalfi Coast with Sorrento limousine service and it was very enjoyable. Our driver/guide, Girardo was very accommodating and informative. There were just 7 of us on the tour, and after an unexpected hour spent in Sorrento, and a visit to beautiful Positano, Girardo took us to a charming, noisy, delicious tratorria, Where we tasted various Italian dishes, and wines. It was a highlight of our tour. Because of time constraints, we didn't have much time to spend in Amalfi or Rapallo, but it was a splendid day. Rapallo, but it was a lovely, memorable day. As an added note, the refurbishing was well done. All in all, we enjoyed the cruise very much. The disembarkation was smooth and efficient, in spite of a long wait in line for boarding passes. We had a 10am flight, and made it with time to spare. Read Less
