We chose this cruise because of its itinerary. It was our first time on Celebrity. We had some great adventures in Oman and Petra. A lot of sea days but we knew this going in. The Suez Canal was interesting and very different from the Panama Canal. The cruise staff was very friendly and outgoing. The entertainment was the best we have had onboard a ship in a long time. A very pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed the silent disco nights. What a fun idea! We were disappointed in the food. Not much fruit selection and they ran out of lettuce four days before the cruise ended. All salads were made with spinach. I must say that a Caesar salad made with spinach is not my idea of a Caesar. As the cruise progressed the food got worse, some bing quite stale upon serving. Not good advertising for future cruising with this cruise line. Overall we had a good time, but were disappointed with the food but not the service. The service was great! We are going on another Celebrity cruise in a few days, we hope the food is better. Only time will tell! Read Less

We embarked in Singapore and it was probably the best embarkation we have ever had. Very fast and efficient. We went straight to our cabin and one of our suitcases arrived soon after. Our cabin steward as always, was fabulous. These guys are amazing. In fact all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Yes, the ship in places is a bit tired but this did not detract from the cruise. My main gripes are the food in the MDR was not as good as on previous cruises and the price of drinks is excessive! We did this cruise as we wanted to visit India and we were not disappointed. This was an amazing cruise and one we will never forget. One word of warning, we normally do Celebrity shore excursions but some of the prices are very high. We did a houseboat tour with Viator in one of the ports of call and it was the best trip of the cruise at less than half the price people on the ship paid for the same trip, so beware! Best place on ship? Without a doubt the martini bar! Read Less

We booked with a travel agent that included precruise and postures tours, airfare and transfers. The entire experience was excellent. Embarkation ran smoothly. We did private tours which were interesting and fun and we met some wonderful people. The ships staff were so friendly and spoke to us always as we passed by including those cleaning the common areas. The Captains Club manager,Rati, was amazing and very helpful. The cocktail waiters in the Reflection lounge were very efficient. Our room steward was superb and over and above helpful and no request was delayed or unmet. The entertainment was mixed and not all was to our liking but tribute shows are not our cup of tea. The two women musicians, violin and guitar ( can't remember their name) were wonderful. In all fairness, with all the different people on board it is impossible to meet everyone's tastes. The food in the MDR was excellent every night. I would say we were very pleased with our experience on the Constellation. Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary - Middle & Far East + four days in India. We didn't use the ships excursions preferring to make our own arrangements. The Constellation is a lovely ship with a nice fun feel about it. The entertainment was very good as was is the Cruise Director, Rich. There were lots of activities and lectures which we enjoyed The staff were always friendly, helpful and curtious. The food in the Oceonview Cafe was excellent with great choices - we especially enjoyed the Asian dishes. However, the meals in the main dining room were disappointingly poor meaning we only spent four evenings in the "San Marco" dining room. This was unfortunate as having dinner in a pleasant dining room is one of the joys of cruising. We had one meal in the speciality restaurant "Cruise Liners" which was fine, but not worth the extra money. Drinks were expensive as was wifi. However, overall it was a very enjoyable cruise and value for money. Read Less

I was hopeful that I would be able to give a favourable review of this cruise, as it was to mark a 'special' birthday. Although a seasoned cruise traveller for the last 25 years, I hadn't used Celebrity before and expected it to be at the high end of cruise companies - in reality it was a huge disappointment. Taking the good points first - • The decor was tasteful - I particularly liked the art deco features and the majority of carpets were stylish, unlike the garish ones on some other ships. Having said that, the vessel is due for refit, so it would be a great pity to 'Americanize' it. • The staff [workers as opposed to officers] were obliging and although a whopping 18% service charge was imposed, at least all the staff benefit, although Celebrity should pay their staff more and not expect travellers to pay their wages. Taking the bad points - • Once onboard and a captive audience, passengers are faced with extra 'packages', due to inflated prices [e.g. a bottle of wine to be consumed in cabin only was $20], so it quickly became apparent that if wine was to be taken with meals outside the cabin it was necessary to fork out on a drinks package, at a huge cost. I misguidedly thought that I could order a dry martini from the Martini Bar, but was told that my Classic Package didn't entitle me to, but that I could get a martini from one of the other bars. [This actually wasn't too disappointing, because the disco music blaring out was deafening.] Internet packages were also expensive and unrealistic and hourly or daily options were not offered. Events which are free on other cruise ships [e.g. tours of the ship, cookery and IT demonstrations etc] all attracted an extra cost. This certainly left me with the feeling that 'the punter was being well and truly stuffed'. • The quality of the food in San Marco 4 left a lot to be desired. It was a concern that seafood was served that had clearly been under a heat lamp until all moisture had disappeared; my 'green lipped mussels' resembled a husk and were inedible. There was also a limited variety of food on offer in San Marco, compared to other cruise ships. And why any chef uses dried peas resembling bullets amazes me! We chose to share a table at dinner and - to a man - everyone said that they would not travel on this ship again. • the ports used were so far away from the tour excursion destinations, the cost was not only inflated, but the journey arduous and exhausting, particularly in Bangkok [ship to Bangkok 2hrs, + excursion time on top] and from Da Nang 3 hours. This also removed the option of the traveller to risk arranging their own tours, at a much cheaper price, for fear of not getting back onboard on time. A tour for 1 person to the floating markets was $148. In conclusion, it is sad that the huge American consortium that has taken over so many cruise lines has dumbed-down and downsized the cruising experience, in pursuit of the 'almighty $'. Whatever happened to formal nights, cocktails with officers, high tea, fine china, flower arrangements, port descriptions - oh, and celebrations? My travelling companion went to a lot of trouble to ensure my 'special' birthday would be recognised and celebrated; Customer Relations assured her that it would and the usual trappings of cake and singing would happen - she waited all evening in vain and we were both very disappointed when nothing happened. In addition to being a special birthday the Itinerary was the prime reason we booked this cruise as we always wanted to visit Singapore & Vietnam. The move away from Formal nights to Chic just did not work and there was very little glitz or glamour on these evenings. It is the main reason that we will not be using Celebrity Cruises in the future as we feel that the opportunity to dress up and having a more glamorous ambience than the everyday is one of our main reasons for going cruising. We used the photographers on one of the Chic nights but were very dissapointed that the $30 charge did not include a cardboard holder and the photo was not even trimmed. It was in fact handed to us in a plastic carrier bag which is the worst service we have received on any cruise. Whilst the service in the main dining room was excellent we tended to find the food fairly bland and there was very little choice of regional dishes. The lunchtime buffet restaurant was however excellent and offered a very wide range of dishes. We found the seating arrangement and bar staff in the theatre to be excellent and it was probably the most pleasant theatre we have experienced. Overall the ship was very nice and the staff were generally very friendly and helpful. The shore excursions were well organised & although expensive generally provided what was advertised The embarkation and disembarkation systems were the best we have ever experienced and our thanks and congratulations to all the staff involved. Originally purchased two years ago on what we thought was a good deal at the time, the 123GO! promotion. First of all let me start by saying that at the end of the cruise someone somewhere has lost Julie's luggage. This did not even make it to the cruise port on Sunday morning for us to pick it up. This caused us much consternation as we had to rush off through Immigration to catch the Taxi to the Airport, so this may not be the fairest of reviews you could find. Julie's loss not only will cost us over £1000 but also her five year diary was inside and the memories may be lost forever. So if you know of someone that may have picked up the wrong case by mistake, please let us know, it was a red Samsonite shell case, medium in size. Vietnam was not what we expected and in a good way, great trips organised by one of our fellow passengers, the trip was provided by My Way and very good too. Hong Kong was a bit of a washout weather wise, but that is no ones fault. However we only go three hours to explore as we had booked one of the ships tours and was not off the ship until 09:45, despite docking at 07:00, then had to be back before 14:30. Giving us three hours to walk around, simply not enough to travel half the way around the world for. Manilla was good; again a ship's tour, which was good. Nice to see historic places and well timed. We loved Boracay, fantastic place to walk around, don't bother with the ship's tours as you can get about very easily yourselves. Kota Kinabalu was stunning as we took the ship's tour to an island for snorkeling, however friends of ours caught a boot local to the dock and had much longer for less money, you takes your choice! We enjoyed the food at the MDR, not a match for previous cruises but good enough not to complain. We also paid for the Dining experience and so visited the Ocean Liners and Tuscan Grill speciality restaurants. Both were very good but the service and food in Ocean Liners was fantastic. Connie is due to visit dry dock soon to be refitted and not before time, the ship was tired and in desperate need of a makeover is several places. Come on Celebrity you can do better than this. Overall a good cruise and just about worth the money paid, however we did not book for another cruise as the Future Cruise options/deals offered were similar to deals we can find ashore, not counting the future discount that always appear. So a sad goodbye from us we shall try elsewhere, hi Holland America good to see you again! Ian. Read Less

Wide range of places to visit, alternate days at sea. Great cabin staff and thoroughly enjoyed meals/ entertainment on board. So good to get a good coffee each morning and amazing food in Ocean Liners. Everyone seemed to be relaxed and enjoyed the cruise. So many different views of the countries we visited - from very poor to very rich people here. Nice to have the time in Singapore before leaving the ship. The entertainment each evening was good. As a first time cruiser maybe the smooth waters of this area lulled me into a sense of security, but I have never felts more relaxed! In spite of the passenger numbers, we still felt thst there was room to move, and after discovering the egg station, I was hooked for breakfast each day. I will certainly be travelling with Celebrity in the future. The only minuses, were the 35C temperatures in Vietnam and Manila, something we need to get used to! Read Less

First time I have visited these Countries. Excursions were well organised and very interesting. The friendly and politeness we received from all the staff was outstanding. The food choice in the main eating area was excellent albeit at times it was difficult to get a seat. The restaurant menus offered a great selection which was beautifully presented. Entertainment was very much to our liking in particular the Irish lad and his fiancé, we listened to them at some point every day on-board. Whilst respecting the Captains' decision not to go ashore at Borocay the call of a day at the beach left us a little disappointed, but even the Captain can't control the weather. A thoroughly most enjoyable experience with plenty of happy memories. So much so, we have booked another cruise next year to the Med on the same boat. Hopefully we will meet some of your excellent staff again. Would definitely recommend Celebrity to friends. Read Less

I must start out by saying I was expecting the worst considering the many problems I had booking through the Australian office but the on-board experience put much of this out of my mind. That means I was expecting it to be bad which meant I was intending to be critical. I found the all round performance to be really good without being exceptional;. I did really enjoy the 6pm sitting in the main dining room and found it far better overall than the specialty restaurants. Service in all dining rooms is excellent and really stands out -- it would be difficult to complain. I found the bar staff to be not as inspired and sometimes surly and inefficient. The embarkation and disembarkation processes were painless and efficient. I did not really enjoy the shore excursions (except the Nha Trang river cruise) as they seemed a bit disjointed and bus travel to and from the attractions was way too long (a smaller ship like those with Azamara Club can get far better access). The internet packages offered on day 1 are not good value and they need to offer a better range (eg 250 hours etc). My stateroom attendant was outstanding -- basically invisible but highly efficient and helpful. Read Less

We love Celebrity ships, Staff and Itineraries and have made many friends that we meet up with from time to time. We are now Elite and enjoy the perks that it gives us onboard. We have found that there is less on offer as small things are removed from each sailing to keep the line competitive. The staff are mostly very hard working and friendly. The Main Dining Room menu could do with a revamp as the puddings are so boring with little choice. Formal nights ( or Chic) are now a joke with anything goes in the Main Dining Room! The Officers are always friendly and visible. Tendering was handled well for Elite. Times are in ports of call and itinerary was good, but keep an eye on changes in the months leading up to the cruise. Not sure I like all this paperless drive, sometimes we all lacked information but could always have Art Auction paperwork delivered to our cabins. I wish we could elect not to gave all that rubbish every night. It was great meeting up with our friends, so a very good holiday. Read Less

We choose this cruise to see India. The ship is very tied and rusting , worn carpet , wooden seats in the dinning room with joints coming apart. The crew do try very hard and give u 110% in effort. The entertainment director is getting away with being payed for sitting on his backside all day. the onboard day time entertainment was non exsistant compared to other cruise lines. There was more entertainment to be found in the casino than over the whole of the boat. The nightly shows in the theatre where great if u where in a nursing home and had not seen any entertainment for a while, really who do they think they are giving us a acrobat show which a 11 year old could perform. Every night at dinner it was a toss of a coin to see if ur drink order would arrive in 30 minutes or under or would arrive at all. The cabin steward did a fantastic job and congratulations to him cabin 9131. The food was the same day in and day out, the quality of food okay but not outstanding. When u travel aqua class and have your own designated dinning room u don't expect to have to wait up to 3/4 hour for a table. The cruise would have been excellent if I had traveled in a inside room, but having table for aquas class I was very disappointed and will never cruise with celebrity again. No one even wants to listen on board when u are offering constructive criticism. Felt very let down and ripped off. Read Less

Our past experiences with Celebrity date back to the times of ships like Zenith, Galaxy und Century (1992-1999). We were quite disapponted with the present services. The ship ist old and our balcony rail was terribly rusty. The Food was ok but not more (the Tuscan Grille food was great, but considering the surcharge of 45.- $ per Person also very expensive). The portions served are either very big or very small (so that we had to ask for a 2nd serving). All Special Happenings Need to be paid extra (Tapas and Sangria, sushi). The self Service cafe was ok but we were missing the Food served in the passt (in 10 days found twice some shrimps, but plenty of US junk food). The drink packages at 55.- or 65$ are more than double compared to Oceania!!! The Service was in General good. We had opena seating and tried to get a table near our favourite head waiter and Sommelier. The Music Shows were good to excellent, but the life Music around the pool very loud so that we were hardly able to talk to each other (do they consider all cruise Pax to be deaf?). The staff in general was very friendly and helpful, considering the long duty times on board. Excursions: Since the offered excursions were very expensive we (Group of 6 persons) organsied all our excursions via Internet and had a great time in Muscat, Khasab, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Cruise critic Party: Celebrity manged to host the Party in the morning where plenty of People were out on excursions in Abu Dhabi, insted of the afternoon when everybody was on board since we had left Abu Dhabi at 12noon. Admirals Club: still fighting with Celebrity to honour our first 4 Cruises.... Read Less

We chose this cruise for some heat and winter sun - so we weren't disappointed in that respect. Hadn't been before so the itinerary was to look forward to. The embarkation process from Dubai to the ship was slow and not very well coordinated. It took 1 hour at Abu Dhabi in the queue before we embarked the boat. It seemed odd to have the Cruise Critic gathering when most were away on a excursion although for some reason we did not appear on their lists and did not get an invite anyway! The ship was quite large in respect to what we have been on before and we felt that it was a little " tired " and could do with some TLC. Our Ocean View cabin on deck 3 was fine and close to the stairs and elevators and didn't suffer from noise being close to the atrium. Our open dining experiences on deck 4 were on the whole very good meeting a wide spectrum of people. The menus gave good choices for all our tastes. The waiter service was always very attentive and good. We went to some of the on board entertainment. Whilst it was not to our taste we acknowledge the effort and professionalism that was on show. The staff around the ship we found to be pleasant and courteous. The ports were interesting, but if you didn't do an excursion at Khasab there was nothing to see or do. We did some ship excursions (for ease) but also did our own. Read Less

Let me start by saying we love Celebrity and have cruised with them over 20 times. Yes things have changed over the years but the company must move with the times and keep up to date with their offering especially when there is a muti national clientele like on this cruise. We embarked around 11-00. The signage wasn't as good as it is at many other ports, and there was a long line putting their hand luggage through the scanner. Other people were coming off coaches and being directed differently to add to the confusion. Once we got to the right desk embarkation was slick. My daughter was in a wheelchair for boarding and along with others in wheelchairs trying to access an elevator on board. We were surprised to see other able bodied passengers pushing past the wheelchairs to access the elevators. We used the stairs and met our daughter in Michaels. Megan was a gracious host and quickly resolved our questions. The bar staff in Michaels were also very accommodating obtaining our favourite drinks for us. Luminae was as always a fabulous relaxed atmosphere with great Matre'D Taskim, Sommellier Dragana and all of the wait staff doing a great job. On every cruise their are some things we try which we haven't tried before, and others we aren't as thrilled with. On the plus side the silent disco was fantastic, great fun. The movie on the pool deck with headphones so no one else was disturbed was also a good innovation for night time entertainment....shame no bar service! The live music in the bars was also very good. In particular the classical duo played very well and were wonderful to listen to. Please Celebrity keep a wide range of live music on board to suit all tastes. We used to love the production shows but this time they were disappointing. A mish mash of popular songs with little to link them, the pantomime show being particularly odd with parodies of gay people I found distasteful. The Beatles tribute and the Musicals singer (sorry cant recall his name ) were particularly good. We decided to try the adult late night game shows this cruise. I don't think we'll be doing it again. They were just cheap and smutty....Not modern luxury celebrity more like a race to the slime! The ship was in good shape and the Martini bar was the liveliest venue. The bar staff were fantastic. Rhory was great and we went to a mixology class with him where we had a great time. We were taken to dinner in the Tuscan by Sinisa Micetic(Guest relations manager) and Oswald Harbrecht (food and beverage manager). The food and service in the Tuscan was just excellent. Our stateroom was well maintained. The shower door was a little heavy to open but otherwise we were very well looked after by Nash and Maxime. We loved all the ports on this trip which offered a variety of things to see and do. For us, having visited Dubai previously our stay was a little long. Maybe a couple of other ports would enhance this cruise, although for most people the sunshine was enough! At each port there were lots of options for taxis and tours. We used sunshine tours Oman and local taxis elsewhere. Read Less

We went with our son and daughterinlaw who have been on 5 other Celebrity cruises and this was our second one My wife had an aacident 2 days before we were due to sail, which ment she was in a wheel chair on the cruise. This was not a problem any on off the ship, All staff went out off their way to assist, without having to ask. When we were either getting on of the ship, staff always insisted they push the wheelchair. We could have not asked for anything more We dined at table 159 every night the waiters were fantastic, using the wheel chair didn't cause a problem. They were so good to us helping my wife to get out / in the wheelchair and placing the chair in a safe place. Their recommendations of the meals was excellent choice Staff in the ladies toilets were excellent helping my wife in the toilets, there was only one problem that if a member of staff was not present then I had to push my wife into the toilet (not very nice for me pushing my wife into the ladies toilet) Please consider making disabled only toilets available throughout all your ships This was our second cruise and once again the ship was spotless never any rubbish could. Been anywhere, not even a spot of dust or any finger prints could be seen. Staff were always about their cleaning duties. We chose this cruise because we wanted some sunshine, wanted to visit somewhere new, wanted a flight of less than 8 hours and wanted to try a Celebrity ship. Our flight arrived early morning and we were taken to a hotel for breakfast. We were pleased about this as 4 or 5 hours in the port building after an overnight flight would have been unpleasant. We were able to check in there but there were still long queues for this and for the busses to the port. We enjoyed the ship very much. Our cabin was tastefully decorated and practical with plenty of storage. The public areas were good with plenty of places to sit and relax and the ship never felt crowded. We had anytime dining and booked time slots before we left and this worked out very well for us as we were always shown directly to a table. The food was very good but not excellent. The coffee bar was excellent. Our main criticism of the ship was that we didn't find the shore excursion team were not very helpful. There were no talks about the places we were visiting and they were not able to help us to arrange independent sight seeing. This was in contrast to our previous experiences with Holland America. Our disappointment in the cruise was with the location. We had really looked forward to seeing Dubai but had not anticipated the congestion. To get anywhere the bus or car had to sit in traffic jams first. Even the Palm was disappointing as the public access bits were not attractive. We enjoyed the 4 wheel drive dunes explorer once we got there BUT if the you get the back two seats in the vehicle you are very cramped. We did rotate seats every hour. The camel ride on the same excursion was a bit of a disappointment as we only went about 50 yards before turning round and coming back. Oman was much more attractive as apparently the Sultan spends a lot of money to maintain the traditional lifestyle. We enjoyed the dhow trip to the "fjords" Read Less

the constellation is a "human size" ship, few years ago it would have been a large ship, today we can say medium with BTW a nice ratio of crew/passengers. we selected this cruise cuz the price which was unbelievable price we couldn't refuse and also because the ports. DINING : We choose 'our time" dining, some nights we made reservation which are available only for dining between 6:00 and 7:00pm later you need to wait in line, they handle a "remote buzzer" that will inform you when your table is available. We liked very much the food, and we got the same waiter few nights so we had more than an excellent service, and the sommelier couldn't be better. In fact we felt everyone was doing that extra mile to make our meal an excellent experience. after one night the waiter knew our preferences and always went ahead of us, i.e. he notices we liked very much fish and seafood, so he would add an extra seafood item in the appetizers (6 shrimps instead of the 3 usual ones) the sommelier noticed we preferred red wine, he would always come with a selection of 3 bottles of red wine, after a few nights the selection was more precise to our taste. I liked to have a cocktail ... the barman when he used to see me would bring it to the table automatically with a personal welcome ( he would remember my name). Small things that enhance the pleasure of cruising. Oceanview cafe : nothing to say employees are very friendly, waiters would bring our speciality cafe as they see us .... for lunch the selection increases after noon. one comment I read (previous critics) and dont agree ... I am glad there s no tray, so much food waste with one plate imagine with a tray .... About taxi in UAE : prices will vary depending on the size of the car (the cheaper are the "Toyota Camry type" beige with a colored top, and the place you hop on for example starts 20 Dirham at airport and cruise terminal - 3,50 downtown .... and depending on the time of the day .. In Dubai to get to the closest metro station is about 35 AED, the metro day pass is 22 AED. Taxi are efficient and not very expensive depending how smart you use it. abu dhabi : very large port cannot walk out, free shuttle takes you to the WTC shopping mall. if you go to the mosque dont dress "as required" they will lend you what necessary and makes great pictures for souvenir. The mosque is a must see. taxi airport to ship will cost you about 90 Dirham (40 min) Dubai : very large commercial port no shuttle. You either have to take a taxi or HOHO bus (very expensive) Must see, for shoppers, is the Emirates mall (interior ski slope), the Dubai mall (very large aquarium, skating rink and the waterfalls) and also connects to the Burj Khalifa. I think Going to the 148th floor is a thrill of a lifetime .. at least for me ... have to admit, its unique. Muscate : the section near the port is the most interesting part (old souk which is close between 1:00 and 4:00 pm), I duo not recommend to walk to the town 5 KM has many Gov. buildings and schools , no commercial activity (practically no cafe no stores) and you meet nobody in the streets. We got an excellent deal on this cruise. We spent an extra 2 days in Abu Dhabi on our own before the cruise. We took the bus (A1) from the airport to the city centre. Our hotel was situated in the centre of the city and we got a bus pass to get around town. The highlight of these two days was visiting the Grand Mosque. Walking along the Corniche was relaxing although the heat was getting to us. Embarkation was smooth and we settled in our room pretty quick. We had our breakfasts at the buffet on Deck 10, lunch usually at the San Marco on Deck 5 and dinner also at the San Marco's. Food was good and our waiter, Many, was excellent. Housekeeping by Edwin was also top notch. Shuttle bus to the Dubai Mall was free however the shuttle was by way of the Hop-on-hop-off Big Bus, so getting back to the cruise ship was quite confusing with paying bus riders and free shuttle takers all jamming up to try to get onto the bus as soon as the Big Bus arrived at the Dubai Mall. Dubai has a lot to offer in terms of attractions and two days may not be enough to see all. The New Mangalore terminal is situated next to a coal facility and is quite dirty. There wasn't too much to see in town except for some temples and run down churches. Goa was somewhat cleaner and the only place that we went was the St. Francis Xavier Church which took us roughly an hour by taxi to get to. Mumbai's traffic was chaotic and you would run the risk of being knocked down by vehicles in all directions if you didn't pay attention when crossing the roads. We skipped picturesque Khasab due to strong winds. Immigration procedure back to Abu Dhabi was a mess when everyone had to line up and face government officials with passports at almost mid-night! All in all, with the exception of a few unexpected glitches, we had a great time. Read Less

This was a maiden voyage for Celebrity for these destinations. The cruise started in Abu Dhabi with 2 days in Dubai, 4 sea days, New Mangalore, Goa, Mumbai, 2 sea days, Oman, Abu Dhabi. Dubai is a fascinating city with awesome architecture. This would have been a five star review except for the port of New Mangalore which was a complete bust. We were told that this port will be removed from future cruises. At least Celebrity learned from this experience and, after all, it was a maiden voyage. I hope the person who arranged this port doesn't get fired. The ports of Goa and Bombay were OK but nothing special. We really needed longer times in both for a better experience. Hopefully dropping New Mangalore will provide an additional day in Bombay. We were unable to get into Oman because of high winds. Cudos to the captain for keeping us safe...no heroics. However, we then beelined for Abu Dhabi when most passengers would rather have taken a leisurely sail instead. We arrived early in the afternoon at the port of AD but were unable to disembark to explore, much to the chagrin of everyone. The Aqua Class balcony was great and Blu restaurant was excellent as usual. We also did the Chef's dinner for $120.00 which is our favorite activity and never disappoints. Room steward and waiters were spot on the entire cruise. Entertainment was excellent also. Read Less

I am a very, very experienced cruise traveler. I enjoyed this cruise, had a good time. There are some big BUT's though which unnerved me. Here my opinions, which will most likely resonate more with fellow Europeans: + Ship beautiful, (if you like modern ship design, which I do), looking new. It did not look full, although it must have been at 90% of capacity. Except the pool deckchairs of course. Staff very good, dining staff exceptional (incl. remembering preferences and satisfying special wishes). Entertainment program very good (important on a cruise with many sea days). Guest lecturers were knowledgable and interesting. I like that they include also off-mainstream subjects, like cave exploration. Dining was good and variable at the dining rooms, no variety at the casual buffet any time of the day, and day after day the same items. Nothing to eat after 10pm. MINUS Cabins small relative to other cruise lines, but nothing was missing. I knew that from earlier cruises and was traveling solo anyway, so I had enough space. Nice touch: Night light in the bathroom. Only small tubes for generic shampoo, conditioner, body lotion. Constant music, too loud, everywhere. Including the main pool area, which is probably desired by the guests during a Carnival Caribbean cruise but not on this cruise with more mature passengers. Not one quiet place where you could read a book without having to order a drink or without loud music or with some sales event going on there (gym courses, wine tasting and selling, art selling, adult coloring class, bingo etc. etc). Library is a minimal room with 4 seats (on a 2000+ passengers' ship) burried in the interior, with probably less than 200 books. One thing I really disliked: There is an extensive and detailed "code of conduct" for passengers which lays out a regime I did not sign up for when I booked this cruise and foresees severe consequences at the sole discretion of the ship's management. I think common sense, courtesy and if necessary the applicable laws are more than enough. And body cams on security staff at all times, in addition to the omnipresent fixed video cameras, obvious and hidden. A person I had met (a young lady in her first trip ever outside her home country) was forcibly disembarked in Muscat, Oman for climbing over a reeling. Another major objection is the prices of side services, which Celebrity describes as "reasonable" in their website but they don't publish detailed pricelists anywhere. Here below I will compare prices with Holland America because I was on a HAL ship just one week before this cruise: -Many items included in the price with other cruise lines are charged here, and handsomely: Certain drinks at breakfast-juices, more than half of items listed in the room service menu and even for the free items a delivery charge of $4.50! -Pay per view movies in the cabin at $13.50 each, compare with the extensive free library of HAL on dvds AND one new movie daily at the movie theater (versus one big screen movie in 16 days on Celebrity). -Prices for drinks and beverages are outrageous: Why is a cappucino priced $7 incl. 18% gratuity and Holland America charges $4 incl. 15% gratuity? Is it so much better? Similar with wines and cocktails. Small plastic bottle of water $3.50+18% gratuity? A scoop of ice cream $4+18%? It is forbidden to bring even a glass of wine on board, for no other reason than to consume their own overpriced items. -Prices for laundry are outrageous too (no self laundry possibility on Celebrity): A bag of laundry at $49 on "one time special offer"? A 2 piece suite for $19? A pair of socks $3? Double the price of HAL? They clean double as good? -Internet package for 16 days $299? Or $23.50 for 1 hour? Prices for one device only! Again almost double the price of HAL for the same satellite service. -"Optional" but automatic gratuity $13.50 per person per day? (HAL $10.50 for no worse service). No adjustment of the amount is possible, either nothing or the full amount. -Shore excursions similar, but in this Celebrity is no worse than other cruise lines and critically the consumer has alternative options with local tour operators. -Specialty dining for a charge and spa services: I didn't try, cannot compare. - Shops on board: I compared prices for items I had earmarked earlier for purchase such as alcohol and certain perfumes with other duty free outlets (airports and airlines). Don't bother, Celebrity's "duty free" price is 20-30% more expensive at every single one. Seems to me they reduce the state tax and add the difference directly into their sales margin. -Shoe shine service as on HAL? Let alone complimentary? Not here! So this cruise was only a good value if you restricted yourself to the absolute minimum of consumption, did not drink wine, cocktails, coffee, did not watch movies, did not use laundry or internet and checked if your conduct fits Celebrity's regulations at all times. But if you consumed all of the above, you could easily spend on board 3-4 times more than the price for the cruise. Hmmm... Quite the cheap trick of "get them on board first and sell them every little thing or service expensive"... not my idea of relaxed vacation or fair pricing policy folks and counterproductive. We chose this cruise specifically to spend 3 full days exploring Israel and the disembarking in Istanbul where we intended to stay for a few extra nights. Booking with Choice Air was ideal since when they cancelled Istanbul, they rebooked our flights from Athens without any fuss or extra charge. The food was fine, and plentiful, and our cabin was immaculate. The fruit was deliciously fresh! All employees were anxious to help besides friendly. The one complaint about this ship compared to other Celebrity cruises may sound silly. The tv only played the same episode of Top Chef, the same 3 movies or CNN or Fox! There was no on board theater and I missed that since after touring for so long, I needed a movie to relax before touring the next day. Other than that, this cruise was perfect and stress free. We only took one ship's shore excursion in Chania, Crete. What bothers me is that you are stuck on a bus with 45 other adults who take more time going to the restroom and shopping for souvenirs that actually listening to the tour guide. I want to recommend Hellenicprivatetours.com who promptly picked up our group at the dock in a large Mercedes mini bus. Took us on a guided tour of Athens and Cape Sounion with an intelligent and charming professional guide and then dropped us off at our airport hotel. They made us feel secure and anxious to return to Greece. Read Less

This cruise originally booked to embark at Istanbul but was changed following troubles there. We were disappointed as we wanted to see Istanbul. However our other port was Jerusalem so we accepted the change. Thereafter, communication with Celebrity was difficult. We could only access the web site to give personal details - we could not access details of trips and neither were we sent any information on trips. We were forced to seek independent trip companies which turned out to be excellent - small group sizes, superb guide and driver and significantly cheaper then booking through Celebrity. Days before travelling our Travel Agent eventually were able to get us paper luggage labels by contacting booking department. A big mistake we made was booking the cruise before flight details were known. Our flights to Athens were via Frankfurt (one and a half hours wait) with a similar journey on return from Rome. Reading the Brochure it stated that on cruises of 12 nights there would be 3 formal nights. We packed formal evening wear - on embarkation we were informed that there would be 2 nights of "CHIC CASUAL" and the rest smart casual. hardly anyone wore evening dress. Standards are dropping, one gent's idea of chic casual was trainers, shorts and t shirt and he was allowed in to restaurant. Standards are dropping. The cruise itself was good. Read Less

We chose this cruise firstly because it was terrific value for the money 2nd for the ports it was visiting 3rd because it was Celebrity and they are always on top of the game. The embarkation was in Venice and went smoothly we were soon on board drinking bubbly and being introduced to all the amenities the ship had to offer.Constellation is one of older ships in fleet but did not look it, everything was spotless. The crew from captain to the cleaners were all very good and all ways had a smile for you, service in the restaurants was excellent nothing to much trouble for them never an empty glass!!The food and choice was some of the best we have seen on any of the cruises we have been on,the only disappointment was the replacement of the creperie on five to sushi on five but it's a personal thing. Entertainment in the theatre was spectacular the shows were on par with anything you would see in London or NewYork, all the other groups and singers were very professional and very entertaining in and around the bars and public places throughout the day.All the ports of call had numerous excursions you could go on but we only did one ,that was the Amalfi coast trip it was amazing .Most ports Celebrity laid on courtesy buses to city centres to do your own thing.Would we go again with Celebrity? Most certainly was the fourth time and soon to be a fifth. Read Less
