We chose this cruise for the unusual itinerary from Abu Dhabi to Singapore via India and Sri Lanka. We had some reservations about using Celebrity Constellation due to previous negative reviews which described the ship as showing signs of age and being 'tired'. These fears were unfounded as the cabin, public areas and restaurants had obviously all been renovated and were in fine condition. We chose 'anytime' dining in the main restaurant and this worked well on most evenings with just 2 occasions when we had to wait for a table (with pager) and just one occasion when service was very slow. The quality of the food was excellent with a good variety of menus throughout the cruise. We just ate once in the Italian restaurant and this too was excellent though the supplement charged was rather expensive Entertainment in the main theatre was average cruise fare . The young singers and dancers were very talented but some of the material used was strange. One particular production show was like a mock pantomime and pretty atrocious. The other solo artistes were generally good except for one impressionist who was poor (several people left during the performance). The best act was Bayne Bacon (comedian/pianist) who was exceptional. He also took part in 'The Wedding Game' game show but there was not enough of this type of entertainment. Read Less

Such an interesting and varied cruise. From sophisticated AbuDhabi and Dubai to the chaotic streets of Mumbai then on to lush Kerala, and our favourite - Sri Lanka. Then the final enjoyment of a few nights in Singapore. The ship was maybe a little tired in places but we were looked after so we’ll and as suite class guests had a few extra perks - we thought the cruise was fantastic. Embarkation and debarkation were calm and efficient. Our stateroom was the only issue and one that was not completely resolved. 9096 it appears is directly below the doorway from the lift area out to the pool deck. Trolleys pass overhead all night long! We were woken several times every night. Staff made efforts to divert the trolleys but I ended up sleeping on the sofa bed. We have received satisfactory compensation which helps a little. Needless to say I enjoyed a long nights sleep once in Singapore! Staff in Luminae and Michaels club were super. Entertainment team were amazing. Stateroom team brilliant. Thanks to everyone - will cruise again soon but will NEVER book onto deck below public areas! Read Less

Chance to visit cities in UAE,Oman,India,Sri Lanka and Singapore all within a 17 day cruise. Also took a 2 day hotel add on in Abu Dhabi at the start of the holiday and a similar stay in Singapore at the end. The cruise lived up to all expectations with food, service and entertainment of a very high standard. For peace of mind we booked all our shore excursions through Celebrity and enjoyed them all immensely.Highlights were a trip on the Viceroy train in Columbo and the Mumbai tour where our guide,a lovely lady of a certain age, insisted on still calling the city Bombay! Also not to be missed is a visit to the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, although this was undertaken during our pre cruise city stay. Entertainment was of a high standard, particularly in the theatre on the 3 "evening chic"nights where some spectacular trapeze work was performed by two talented aerial artistes. The performances of the regular dance troupe in their spectacular costumes were also a delight. We booked a sky suite which gave us access to the excellent facilities food and service available in the Luminae restaurant and Michael's lounge. This booking also came with personal embarkation and disembarkation services which were much appreciated. just got back from 15 night best of india and sri lanka 10/o4 /18 in aqua class cabin 9061 .cabin ok but a little tired staff work hard to keep a good standard but sheets towels and carpets all need to be replaced I also had a chat with two ladies that were on deck 6 that were complaining of bed bugs in their cabin.the food in blu was very good and the staff were wonderful which is more than can be said for the oceanview café .I,m a early starter so I,m one of the first in for breakfast and everything was always cold except for the toast which was just warmed up bread if you asked for it to be done a bit more you got a look as if you were mad .at lunch if you wanted anything other than Asian dishes the choice was very poor. on one day there was fish and chips which looked very nice but the fish was so hard that you could not cut into it and the chips well its the first time I,ve had chips that were brunt on the outside and still frozen on the inside. the shore excursions got off to a bad start with the one I was looking forward to most cancelled before I left with hindsight I wish they had all been cancelled as they were all poor value except for the walking tour in sri lanka which was very good ,the sightseeing and shopping in Phuket was disgraeceful late starting no stops for food or drinks at the last stop at a shopping mall at 6pm we were told it would be 1 1/2 hr stop most people wanted to return to the ship but were told if you did you would have to make your own way back to the ship a 10 minute walk which turned out to be a 25 minute taxi ride I complained when back on the ship and was told it was the first time this trip had been run I hope it was the last Read Less

Chose this cruise mostly because of itinerary. Really wanted to check out India even though it’s only by a cruise stop. We explored Dubai for four days before cabbing it to Abu to board the ship. What a GREAT city. These guys in Dubai have really got it together. Embark and disembark went great. Entertainment was great. We found one thing strange. A one time only special production show was offered at 11 pm in the theatre. REALLY? Also if get back late from a shore excursion the food offering between 4-6 is VERY limited.Food at all venues was perfectly acceptable. We had late fixed in the MDR. This is mass market cruising folks and we feel people just expect too much. This not your private yacht. People continually arrive late for dinner and mess up the serving routine for the whole table.Service in MDR was just fine. This ship is getting older but they are doing a good job at keeping her in good shape. Getting a cocktail in the evening was a bit of a challenge. So many people with drink packages on these Celebrity cruises bars are really busy. Martini bar so crowded we often just gave up. Bartenders seemed more concerned with providing a show than serving customers. Shore excusion in Mumbai are a challenge due to traffic. We chose a private car plus guide. Best decision EVER. Wish they would run morning cruise director info in a continuos loop without all the advertising between segments. All in all a good cruise ,sorry for my randomness, but we are Princess people and just know the product better.. Read Less

We did a back to back, the first is the 14 night Vietnam and after the 15 night India. The first cruise was not so good and definitely not the Celebrity standard. It was not well maintained, very dirty when we got onboard the first day. It did improve over the course of the cruise. The furniture for the sunset deck was sticky and just felt dirty all the time. The rest was adequate though, the dining room was ok, not grand though. We never had a problem getting a table for 2. The room, oceanview, was fine, comfy bed. The food was quite a disappointment. Even for the specialty restaurants which were actually quite expensive, was very amateur. The steakhouse was awful. I ordered tomato mozzarella entree and it was super cold, the huge tomato was all mushy simply because it had been frozen. I asked for the maitre-d and he didn't know that it needs to be served fresh... Tried the fancier Q-Sine, all show no content. Looks good, you see that they try at least to make something special but all the dishes didn't pass the bar. Very disappointing. The only decent restaurant was the sushi place. Other minor disappointments, the outside movie, had only a very late showing, nothing at 8pm. No game room, nothing. Best part was the personel as usual on these ships. Read Less

Got a good price for this cruise, and a friend had never been to Singapore, Thailand, nor Vietnam, so we went for it! Embarkation was very quick and smooth, even though Celebrity sent mixed messages to passengers beforehand. We stayed in a cabin on Deck 2 and were asked to embark at 6:30pm even though our Dining Room was scheduled for 6:15pm. Took forever for Celebrity to reply to my email asking how this could make any sense. When they did reply, they skirted the question and just advised to embark anytime we wanted. Huh??? Cabin was fine, food was decent, only went to Oceanview Cafe and San Marco Dining Room, and Cafe Al Bacio. Skipped Specialty Dining altogether. Breakfast choices were very boring, but lunches and dinners were fine. Hard to believe that a cruise ship these days could actually run out of bananas halfway through the trip, but it actually happened. Entertainment in Celebrity Theatre was so so. Enjoyed Jeff Luhn's Beyond The Podium lectures. Informative and mixed in with some dry humour, very good speaker indeed. Missed out on Nha Trang port of call due to rough waters in port. Not that I'm complaining when someone gives me money, but there was no explanation as to why I received $15.38 USD in additional onboard credit on Feb 6th, very strange. This was my fourth Celebrity cruise, so perhaps might be time to give some of my future cruise business to another company...Oceania, Holland America, Princess??? Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the exotic destination and the fact that January, weather wise, is the best time to go. That made our decision to sail on the Constellation an easy choice. A real drawback was having to get Indian Visas. Electronic ones do not cover the cruise so we had to apply for regular visas. It was expensive, and it was an ordeal. When Celebrity dropped one of the ports in India and cut it to three ports, I was very disappointed. Usually getting visas are easy, not so for India. Now I wish I had paid for a 10-year visa to make sure I never have to do that again! This was our first Celebrity cruise. We have sailed with several other cruise lines, but the last 4 cruises were with NCL on similar sized ships. All in all, it was a great cruise on the Constellation. There are things I preferred on NCL and some things on the Connie I liked better. I would travel either cruise line again giving preference to the one with the best destination and then the best price. I thought the food on the Constellation was very good. It was difficult to get my head around the fact that there is only one main dining room included in the price and only three specialty restaurants. As good as the food was in the main dining room, it is very noisy and I longer for somewhere quieter. We tried Qsine one evening. It is an additional $50 per person. For me, I found it a very confusing format. Anyone that has dined there knows what I mean. It is something to do once, but once was enough. Food in test tubes was just weird. One thing I learned from reading Cruise Critic was that there is a vegetarian menu for the main dining room if you ask for it. My husband is a vegetarian and he said that the menu did change every night so that was a plus for him. Entertainment was about equal on both cruise lines, some good, some not to my taste. NCL tended to have more variety acts in the Theatre and the Constellation seemed to have more single performers. It is a very nice theatre. We also enjoyed the lounge band J Beam. The Constellation is not particularly elegant. Having said that, I think our outside stateroom was roomier and better decorated than on the older NCL ships that I have sailed on. This ship did not have a promenade deck that goes all the way around. I missed that. It is too difficult to use the jogging track because it goes through the sunbathers. We purchased the classic beverage package. (It does not include as many liqueurs as NCL and does not have the ice cream type drinks like mudslides.) If I did buy a drink that was not included in the package, I only had to pay the difference in price. That made it less expensive than upgrading to a premium package. One advantage with the classic package is that it includes bottled water and coffee from the specialty coffee bar. I enjoyed the staff. Most were friendly, helpful and added to our enjoyment of the cruise. This isn’t a criticism but there were no towel animals. I missed that! It didn’t make or break the cruise, but it was an expectation! The only ship shore excursion I went on was to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It was worth every penny. Yes, I liked the cruise. Yes, I would sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

Rich and Liza were great entertainment managers and allways kept us informed. Our cabin was just fine and our cleaner couldnt do enough for us.The only problem was Air France lost our luggage so we didn't have any luggage the total 15 day cruise. The guest relations were brilliant and helped us out the best they could .Despite this problem the cruise was brilliant. We did not go on any excursions they were very expensive so we did our own thing and did not have any problems apart from Sri Lanka where the tuc tucs driver tried to charge us £80 for 3 hours but we paid him £40 which was a good rate.A great experience overall and would book again with the company. We did eventually get our luggage back when we returned but the damage was done Read Less

Just returned from the Arabian Sea Adventure on Celebrity Constellation. Have to say we were a bit worried by all the reviews after we had booked and many said the ship was tired and well worn. Well, I do not know which part they were looking at, but we found it to be wonderful everywhere. The beautiful coordinated furniture, comfy chairs and multiple lounge areas were superb. (so often there is no where to sit on a cruise ship and coffee shops etc are so full you end up back in your cabin!) We would recommend Celebrity to anyone who wants a truly wonderful ship; fantastic staff; superb food and great staterooms to book with Celebrity. We have not been on other ships in the Celebrity fleet, but will certainly have Celebrity on the top of our future cruise company list before booking elsewhere. (NB: We are not first timers - we have cruised with many other companies and Celebrity certainly comes top with us). The food was exceptional in every area. The Buffet food was great with variety and really good quality food. This was unfortunately marred by seeing other guests who ate wearing just a vest - dreadful; the other restaurants were stunning and it was lovely to have the 'chique' nights too. As a Sky Suite passenger, we were fortunate enough to eat in Lumiere most of the time, which was exceptional in every detail. Plus having Michaels lounge as a little hideaway was truly brilliant. Nadia and her team really made every day a wonderful experience. Read Less

2nd part of India Golden Triangle trip + cruise- a 12 day cruise that was less than average for the money paid We had an inclusive drinks package which was evidently embarrassingly very important to the band of heavy drinkers that were on board for this cruise!! We observed that there was a problem getting a sun bed and nothing done by crew to make this a fair process so just glad we weren’t sun worshipers! Cabin was in a poor state - furniture tired and faded - no money has been spent in this area for years - cabin steward lovely and very helpful. Public areas had evidently been refreshed fairly recently. Most activities onboard were chargeable and WiFi exeptionally expensive Food varied from good to average but staff in restaurant very pleasant and hard working. Used Celebrity several years ago to Alaska and were disappointed then so after this cruise will never use them again as their ships are past their sell by date Read Less

We did noy stay in Rome before departure as we have visited a couple of times before in depth,so we went straight from the airport to the shipwe did not have a great start here as we were told in baggage reclaim to look out on the left hand side when exciting missed them they were behind a great big pillar we walked around the arrivals and went back to our starting point luckily for us we spotted a fellow cruiser who waved to us and told us the location of the bags deposit to go to the ship(the airport team had there backs to the exit point talking not doing there jobs).Although we had pre checked in it was slow the coach was held back for some 10mins whole process took about an hour. The ship although we found it clean we also found it tired it was supposed to have had a re-fit earlier this year have a look at the carpet in Main Dining it is filthy and threadbare in parts. The cabin we found to be ok everything worked that we used. We went for second seating dining which we also do all the time when cruising we sat sat down everynight apart from 1 night in the Tuscan for our 40th anniversary of which the ship managed to cock up our Reservation. We enjoy the dining we were looked after very well in the most part found the food to be of a high quality and well presented and very good wines to go with the meals. Sorry we are lazy dont do activities(apart from the Quiz)but we foung that both groups on this ship are the best we have seen on any cruise. Service was of a high standard we did not find any negative issues with this. We used the shore excursions in Athens / Petra we found both of high quality with excellent guides (in fact the athens guide a young girl was the best we have ever had in any sort of excursion while on holiday). We used the shore excursion as well in Oman (Muscat Walking Tour) we did not do very much walking to be honest it was on a Bus we did not think this one was good valuse for money in hindsight we would do the Big Bus tour they did a good deal on Oman / Dubai / Abu Dhabi. Dubai / Abu Dhabi we did the Big Bus both run a shuttle from the boat to the kicking off point downtown. Dubai (saturday) chaotic drop of point is the Dubai Mall exremely busy did the mimimum we wanted to do but that was mainly because of the heavy traffic. Abu Dhabi a lot better traffic around the city a lot lighter if you are tight on time do the mosque. Disembarkation was fine off the boat strangley short of taxis outside and the 2 men running this moved the taxi down the rank so people at the head of the queue were overlooked British / Americans / canadians and Scandinavians sonn showed them the erroe of there ways. We stayed a further night in Abu Dhabi at the Dusit Thani fantastic and well appointed Hotel with a fantastic dining experience it is slightly set back from downtown and is pretty isolated but taxis are very cheap here. In all it came to our expectation we booked it for our 40th wedding anniversary and had a great time we made some friends without having to resort to some on board fancy club. Read Less

I was forced to choose this cruise because Celebrity relocated Equinox to the Caribbean after I had booked a Greek Island Cruise on her, so in fairness this cruise was 'second choice'. I had cruised on Constellation many years ago before the launching of the Solstice Class ships which I have cruised on very happily for some years. Constellaion, is not in the same league as the Solstice class ships. Despite a recent visit to the dry dock she looks dated and lacks charisma.'Over painting ' may have looked good at first but rust is already breaking through. The sun beds had not been replaced just frame painted which was scratched and scuffed after a short time.Upholstery had been replaced in some ares and this brightened the interior a little.Loungers with cushions brightened and gave comfort on the sun deck, but all other loungers were without pads. Concierge Cabin was OK and well serviced but no Sparkling wine or flowers this trip. Restaurants:¨Ocean view, Lay out confusing at first food mediocre and often cool Main Restaurant, food of a good standard but noisey Tuscan excellent in every respect The biggest disappointment was the removal of The Murano to be replaced by Sushi on 5, what a let down! The loss of this restaurant would definitely stop me booking Constellation again, Generally Officers were seen and polite, on social occasions friendly. Many staff were cheerful and accommodating but some, appeared to lack interest. There was a general lack of atmosphere in most of the bars except the Martini Bar which as always generated a good atmosphere. Finally I enjoyed the cruise partly down to the good weather and The Tuscan Grill which served superior food. Would I book again, unlikely on Constellation Read Less

Cruising the Mediterranean in early Fall is a great way to avoid crowds at the port cities while still enjoying nice weather that ranged between 70 and 80 degrees during the day. The Constellation is an older ship with about 2,000 guests, which makes It easy to get around without encountering long lines. We had an oceanview cabin on deck 3 near the Grand Foyer, which was a very convenient location. Our stateroom attendant was a friendly and exceptionally hard worker that kept the cabin spotless and would go out of his way to open our cabin door when we passed him in the hallway. Some of the bar staff and main dining room waiters were less friendly and not so eager to please the guests. We had to continually ask for food items that were not served as ordered. Occasionally, the food wasn't very warm or was overcooked. Even though I handed our main waiter and sommelier extra tip money one evening, it didn't seem to improve the table service; however, the sommelier was more accommodating in keeping our wine glasses full. A major concern with the main dining room service is that it took so long (2+ hours) to eat that we were always late for the nightly entertainment. Many other people said the same thing causing them to eat at the Oceanview Buffet to save time. On some nights, the food in the buffet was much better than that served in the main dining room. The itinerary included several great ports that were very enjoyable to tour around - Alicante Spain, Seville Spain, Livorno Italy and Ajaccio Corsica. These ports offered many nice shore excursions, some of which I booked independent of the ship. These private tours in 8 passenger vans are far more pleasant than the large bus tours that the ship offers. And, they can be arranged for considerably less cost than the ship. Our highlight tour of the cruise was an all day trip to Cinque Terre that I organized using the Cruise Critic discussion boards to add fellow passengers to our group. This area of Italy consists of 5 quaint villages comparable to the small cities along the Amalfi coast. The other port stops included Gibraltar UK, Sete France and Provence France. We had already visited Gibraltar & Provence on previous cruises, so we spent those days on board. We did get off at Sete to complete a walking tour of the city; however, there wasn't much to see and the sidewalks were littered in trash and animal droppings. Watch your step. This was our 14th cruise on Celebrity ships over the past 6 years. There has been a noticeable decline in the overall cruise experience with Celebrity. The company has found ways to charge for more things on board that were once free; they have reduced the quality & selection of the food in the main dining room; they have removed some of the liquors, beers and wine from the Classic drink package and put them on the premium package; and, they have reduced the variety of entertainment throughout the day. We cruises last year with the Constellation and the public areas are nice refurbished. I hope that the cabins also in a short time will be refurbished. On this ship you can always have a quiet place to relax and also in the public areas there is plenty space. The food was good and the service excellent as usual by Celebrity. The embarkation in Barcelona was very good and we were within 15 minutes on board. We had select dining and the food in the main restaurant was good and also the service was very good. We had balcony cabin cat. 2A number 7161 and it was a nice and clean cabin. No noise at all and not far from the elevators. The shows were not so good as we used to by Celebrity although the Celebrity orchestra was very good. The music in the public areas was also good. The ports are very nice specially Cadiz, Gibraltar and Ajaccio. We cruised already many times with Celebrity and we will certainly cruise with the Constellation again. Read Less

Here is my review of the August 28th 10 day cruise to Greece and the Greek Islands. The cruise left from the Veice cruise port. Check in was fast; I was on the ship in 15 minutes. I had an inside cabin that was located at the far end of the front of the ship. Disadvantage was walking to the main dinning room located at the back of the ship. Afte 13 RCCL cruises this was my first time on Celebrity. The ship was an older model but still was well maintained. It had lots of wood touches and updated bars and service areas. We left Venice on the first day for a day at sea. Everyone settled in for a easy day to explore the ship. The ship has three pools; one being the covered solarium with the thesso type pool. The pools were next crowded. There were very few children on board because being a 10 day cruise and the ship had very little to offer children. Off to dinner at 8:45 the first night. My tablemates included two couples from the UK, a pair of ladies from Canada and a couple from Houston, Texas. Being a solo cruiser I felt I would be the outsider. The other couples welcomed me that first night and turns out to have been a great table for conversation. The table service left something to be desired with very slow service all the time of the cruise. We would get our desert at around 10:30 and it left little time to finish and catch the 10:30 show in the main theater. I saw 4 out of the 9 shows this cruise. Mostly singer and dancers. The one great show was a gentleman from the UK that played the saxaphone that was amazing. Because of the the diners finishing late the theater was about half empty every night. First port of call was Olympia, Greece; the site of the first olympics. The site had a museum and an outdoor area. Cost for the site was 12 euros. The town within walking distance of the ruins was small but it did have free WiFi. Next port of call was Santorini. The island was amazing but we had very litle time to really enjoy all it offers. I took a ships excursion that brought you to the top of the volcano to the town of Oia. Because of the number of ships in port the town which is one of the picture postcard places in the Greek islands was very crowded. The small winding streets were packed with tourists. I had lunch at one of themany restaurants that was overpriced but still worth the view. The excursion took us again by bus to a Greek winery for some samples and cheese. Last stop was the town of Fira for the cable car ride down to the ship. There was a long line for getting on the cabke car but considering the views and the town itself it was worth the wait. Some chose to walk the 600 steps down. Our next port was an overnight in Athens. Two days gave everyone to go into the city. I opted for the HoponHopoff bus from the port city of Piraeus. For 20 euros fortwo days it was worth the money. Athens is a very large city with the old and the new all packed into a very small area. The parthenon was my first stop but the crowds prevented me from waiting for a ticket to go to the top. I had lunch in the area of Monastiraki a beautiful section of Athens with outdoor cafes and flea market stands. Back on the bus I headed back to the ship. Second day in Athens I opted to stay on the ship. Next port was Mykonos. It has the look of what ervyone expects a greek island should look like. White and blue small homes and churches dotted the coastline. Again WiFi was available in the local restaurants for free. Next port was Corfu. Being a very large island with the main city of Corfutown; the island had a very different look than the two previous stops. The narrow streets and lots of shops made it iteresting people watching. I had lunch at an outdoor cafe that had the best moussaka dish I have ever had there. If you eat there it is called Aegli; claims to be the oldest restaurant in Corfu. Back on the ship for the final day at sea before returning to Venice I had a chance to photograph the interior of the ship. The ship is beautiful with the old style wood and classic looking decor. I was disapointed in the entertainment available compared to the RCCL Oasis class ships but the cruise director reminded me of how old the ship was and does not have the ability of do all the things an Oasis class ship can do. Ther was no piano bar to sit around; one thing I have enjoyed on RCCL ships. The entertainment consisted of soft rock bands playing in various locations around the ship, trivia games and other cruiser participation games. One thing Celebrity does is have guest speakers come on board. One gentleman gave three talks on the history of Greece and the islands. The second gentleman Ed Buckbee spoke three times on the history of NASA. Ed was around for all of the maned space shots from the Mercury to the Space Shuttles. As a big fan of the space program I had a chance to have breakfast with Ed. He was an amazing speaker telling us all the things about the original seven astronauts that most people never have known. If you are looking for agreat way of visiting Greece and the Greek islands this cruise is for you. The is a lot of walking in the ports and sometimes the cobblestone and marble walkways can be very slippery. Best not to wear flip flops off the ship. Read Less

I am a history fan; I have long wanted to see Greece. This cruise was a great way to scratch the surface. Departing from Venice was an amazing bonus. Cruising down the canal past the city of Venice was incredible and really a great selling point for this specific cruise. Celebrity sold us on their service last January while on board Silhouette. Don't misunderstand Celebrity Constellation is not Silhouette, but it is Celebrity. Celebrity service is far better than any of the other 4 cruise lines we have cruised on. Yes, Constellation is 17 years old, but once you get onboard I just did not see the age. She looked far better than many newer ships (except Silhouette) we've been on. Onboard Experience For us being able to get around ship quickly is important. I think the date of the selection was critical to our experience. As grandparents to 3 boys, we love children; however, we go on vacation to recharge and enjoy ourselves. With this cruise beginning on August 28th, there were few children onboard. We did not have to listen to children running up and down the passageways outside our cabin. Perfect for sleeping late. Our cabin was amidships near the elevators. Perfect for getting to deck 10, quickly. We never had to wait more than 1-2 minutes for an elevator. We lived the fact that we could review our onboard account from our cabin television, daily. We had pretty big plans while ashore, so we did not plan late nights aboard. This does not mean we did not go to the evening shows. I wish I had taken notes on the entertainers who came aboard, but... In any event, we really enjoyed Lorraine Brown and the fact that she performed an evening show and a matinee several days later was great. We did enjoy the onboard singers and dancers. The aerialists were especially good. I believe one show was too much, Elyria (not sure I've spelled it correctly); we found the subject matter offensive/borderline offensive. Ports of Call 3 Sea Days - well needed days to rest 1. Katakolon - Ancient Olympia, shore excursion, interesting, but now I've done it; I won't do it again. 2. Santorini - Wow!!! You anchor in the caldera and the view is amazing. I've read other reviews of complaints about long lines for the cable cars. We never waited longer than one cycle of the cable cars. Walk or ride the donkeys if you want, imho, the smell of donkey urine and feces are a take away from a good cruise (although for some probably great for a good laugh, but not me). We visited Oia, got the Blue Dome shots, and walked as far as you could go. The road to Oia is interesting. Back to Thira (Fira) for quick tour and back to ship for a long, quiet nap. 3. Piraeus (Athens) - 2-days here. The port is 20-30 minutes from downtown Athens. Day 1 - Instead of touring our first day, we took a ferry to the island of Poros (where my brother-in-law grew up). If you get the opportunity, go to Poros. We only spent 4 hours there (ferry trip is about 2 hours round trip), but with the help of my sister's in-laws we had a great opportunity to see the island from a more personal perspective. This island is beautiful. I would come back to Greece just for this! After returning to the ship, we took the Metro to the Athens Plaka district and proceeded to get quite lost. No matter, we walked up to the Acropolis just as the sun was setting and then got lost in the Plaka district. IT was late when we returned to the ship. Day 2 - we had an Athens City Tour with add-on Acropolis tour with Shore Excursions Group. As enough people did not book the trip, four of us were given a virtual private tour of Athens - Perfect! 4. Mykonos - another beautiful location. We were off the ship early for our personal walking tour of Mykonos town. Love it, until later in the morning as the crowds began to build. The windmills and Little Venice are short walks from the tender dock Have lunch or coffee in little Venice, you might meet the local mascot, a pelican walked through the sidewalk cafe as we finished up. 5. Corfu - So many choices for tours, but did not want the long tours out into the island. There is so much history right in Corfu town. We took the shuttle to the terminal and walked out and caught the Hop on-Hop off bus. Corfu town is a small town with small streets and was quite crowded early making for a 20-30 minute ride to Kanoni. At Kanoni, get off and walk 300-400 feet to see and visit Mouse Island (beautiful view) Just across the channel, from Mouse Island, are views of what many believe looks like Capri. Here, you will also view aircraft landing at the island's only airport. BTW, the boat ride to Mouse Island cost 5 Euros round trip for 2; 5-10 minute ride. We left Kanoni and went to the Old Fortress, very impressive; especially when you consider when it was built. If you're up for it walk to the top - it is a long haul, sometimes made worse by people stopping to take photos on the narrow steps. Take your photos from the top, you won't miss anything. Service and Crew The ships crew are amazing. We were always warmly greeted by the crew everywhere we went onboard. Our San Marco dining room servers: Waiter - Widastra, Asst Waiter - Ram, & Sommelier - Susana were wonderfully friendly and warm. In 15 cruises, we have to say they were the best we've ever had. Thank you so much for that. We ate in the Tuscan Grille & can only say, "what's not to enjoy here?" The Tuscan staff were amazing hovering just out of view, but always available in an instant when something was needed. Great! In all of our previous cruises, we probably never had more than a shallow hello from the ships officers. Constellation was vastly different. We were always greeted by ship's officers, including the captain, saying hello, asking how our day was, how we were enjoying the cruise, and if we needed anything to let them know. We experienced this everyday. This is our first experience where our cruise director had anything to say other than a nod or simple hello. On Constellation, the Cruise Director Rich (sorry I did not make note of your last name, but won't ever forget your first name), was amazing. He was everywhere talking with guests. He greeted us as we boarded and he was there to wish us well when we departed at 0745. Thanks, Rich. This type of service is indicative of great management and leadership at the top. From my perspective, that is the Captain. I've been on several other cruises and never had this personal service. Thank you, sir! Embark/Disembark This is only my second Celebrity experience but embarking and disembarking have never been better on any other cruise line I've been on. Because this cruise was sold out, embarking was expected to be timely. We received a text and email indicating what time we would arrive for embarking. We paid no attention to this and boarded, as we were ready. Within a few minutes, we had our photos taken and were onboard. Disembarking went just as well. Unbelievably, we packed only carry-on luggage (took advantage of ships laundry) for 2-weeks in Italy and Greece. When it was time to leave, we left our cabin, early (we had an early train to Rome to catch) waited no more than 10-15 minutes and we were off and on our journey to Rome. Read Less

We decided on the Jet Set Sail package. Really excellent service etc leaving from stanstead, but do think more could be done with regards to transfers in venice. Boarding went well, as includes priority boarding. Booked concierge class cabin, we had sailed with celebrity before and always chose this catagory We found the constellation an excellent choice. The recent refurb showed in the cabin and in other areas and we werent disappointed. The service, food and crew were all excellent. The only complaint we had was the groups of children that were allowed to run round the ship and in the bars at night. We witnessed verbal abuse from some of them when challenged by the crew and celebrity need to correct this. All ports of call around the greek islands were first class and disembarkation into the ports was swift and efficient. The restaurant staff were faultless and couldnt do enough for us. On return to venice, again the Jet Set Sail package was sadly lacking and the coach we were transferred in had major engine problems and we really thought we wouldnt even get to the airport. Marco Polo airport was chaos, definitely need more than the customary 2 hours prior to departure. But all in all a really great cruise and looking forward to travelling with celebrity again next year, keep up the good work. Read Less

I have just returned home after one of the best experiences ever. My daughter and I embarked on the Celebrity constellation in Barcelona which ended in Venice a few days ago. From the lovely young man who looked after our cabin to the fantastic waiter who served us on our table in the restaurant, the drinks waiter, the gorgeous lady who welcomed us each night,, the chefs, every single person on the ship was polite, helpful, and made me feel very special. The buffet had to be seen to be believed, such a variety of food and so much of it. The shows were amazing and I loved each one. The cabin was clean and the beds were comfortable. We found the excursions were well planned and because the weather was extremely hot to see a welcoming icy drink and icy flannels waiting for us before we boarded was so appreciated. I don't think that any more could have been done to make the cruise one of the most enjoyable experiences ever. I would certainly love to do another given the opportunity. A very big thank you to Celebrity, well done. Read Less

This was the first time Jet, Set, Sail departed from Cardiff and the airport is certainly not yet set up for this type of cruise package. We'd checked out the private terminal/lounge at Stansted on the Internet and realised that Cardiff couldn't compete so our expectations were low. Free parking was allocated at Cardiff airport. Check in was very easy with dedicated desks. We were told we'd be fast-tracked through security and that we would be able to go directly through to the gate where we would be served refreshments before boarding. However, the fast-track lane was closed as the airport was "quiet". We were then stopped at security to go through the scanner which hadn't been calibrated so it couldn't be used but we were still kept waiting for quite a while. We were then denied access to the gate as "they weren't ready for us", despite passengers having already gone through. As a result there were a number of irate passengers. We waited for about 35 minutes in the main terminal before being allowed to go to the gate. Once through there were plenty of pastries along with tea, coffee, juices and Prosecco on offer. Initially the JSS (Jet, Set, Sail) cruises were marketed as using a private jet providing a business class experience, this was then "downgraded" to Premium Economy. Unfortunately, this has been over-hyped, basically the plane is a 737-300 chartered from Titan Airways. We were allowed a generous 25kg of luggage. The flight was comfortable but I'm not sure we had 31" of leg room as was advertised. A hot breakfast was served with tea, coffee and juice but some passengers complained that there were no alcoholic drinks offered. Service was very good and the crew very pleasant. On arrival at Barcelona we had to wait for almost an hour for our luggage to arrive on the carousel, then we had to queue up to give our names to the Celebrity representatives and pass our luggage to the porters to transport to the ship. Some passengers thought that once their luggage was checked in at Cardiff they would not see it again until it was delivered to the cabin on the ship. We were escorted to the coach for transfer to Celebrity Constellation where check in went very smoothly. As usual with Celebrity once on board we were greeted by friendly smiles and offered a glass of "bubbly". Due to the delay at the airport our cabins were ready for us and after a light lunch at the Oceanview Cafe we found that our luggage had been delivered to our cabin. We opted for an oceanview cabin on deck 7 forward which was situated in a very quiet part of the ship in a short corridor with only cabins on the decks above and below, so it was very peaceful each time we returned to ours after a busy day. We had a short walk to the lift to go three floors up to Reflections or three floors down to the Theatre but on the whole we chose to take the stairs. The MDR was a bit of a trek to the aft of the ship on decks 4 and 5 after all it is quite a large ship. The Constellation had a refit earlier in the year but as we hadn't sailed on her for many years we couldn't compare the recent before and after transformation. I wasn't impressed with the main pool deck as the loungers were very uncomfortable if you used them all day on a sea day. It's a while since we sailed on one of the larger ships and found the number of passengers using the pool deck rather overwhelming. We were like sardines but, in fairness to the Pool Butlers, they always managed to "squeeze in" more loungers for guests who wanted to be near the pools. We experienced extremely high temperatures and wonderful, sunny days and, while on board, staff regularly distributed ice cold facecloths and, on occasion, fruit skewers - it was a nice touch. The loungers in the Thalassotherapy indoor pool were much more comfortable and it was quite peaceful in there compared to the hustle and bustle of the main pool deck. We chose select dining so we could choose the time at which we wanted to eat. The time varied very slightly each evening but we never had to queue for a table because we made a point of booking for the next night with the lady at the desk on our way out of the MDR. Meals were very good and there was something to suit everyone. Our waiter, Bob, was brilliant, as soon as he knew what we liked he was able to recommend particular meals and tell us if he thought we might not enjoy what we had initially chosen. If he thought the portions looked a little small he brought extra for a particular person or for us to share. We ate at one of the speciality restaurants, the Tuscan Grill, which has a variety of Italian/steak meals on offer. We enjoyed what we had ordered and found the staff there to be very attentive. Actually, we found the staff on board very friendly, attentive and, in the main, very efficient. A Classic drinks package was included in the price we paid so we never had to purchase water or soft drinks. Alcoholic drinks up to the value of $9 per drink were included. If we wanted anything more expensive we had to pay the difference plus an 18% service charge on top. We had a slight problem with our booking but after speaking to the staff at Guest Relations we were able to come to a satisfactory solution. Guest Relations staff were fantastic, they left messages on our cabin phone checking that everything was now ok and asking if they could do any more to help us. Great itinerary, overnight at Valencia, then on to Livorno, Civitavecchia, Kotor, Split and another overnight in Venice. We were only tendered once, at Kotor in Montenegro as it's a very small port and another ship was moored right alongside the old town. Tender service was well organised and efficient but it took around 20 minutes to reach the port. Luckily, sea conditions throughout the cruise were fantastic, the sea was so calm, at times it was like glass. This gave us the opportunity to easily spot marine life such as dolphins, manta rays and, jellyfish. We only booked one excursion as we'd been to all the ports before. We chose the Game of Thrones and Medieval old town Split tour. We were driven by coach to Klis fortress which was around 20 minutes from Split. The guide was very knowledgeable about the fortress itself and also about the TV series, part of which was filmed there. From there we returned to Split and were taken to the Diocletian Palace which was built by the Roman Emperor, Diocletian. The guide provided us with lots of interesting information and also explained which parts of the palace were used in the filming of Game of Thrones. We then walked through the old town which is part of the palace grounds and where further filming took place. We enjoyed our time at Split and are planning to return for a short break. In Valencia, Livorno and Venice the ship was moored quite a way from the centre of the cities so shuttle buses/boats were provided at a cost of around 20 per person for a return journey. At Civitavecchia the shuttle bus was provided by the local authority and not chartered by Celebrity. Split was the only place that could be accessed on foot directly from the port. Entertainment throughout the ship was very good with a variety of activities provided. The production shows were very good, however a couple of the Celebrity singers were a bit out of tune. Guest artists included Jane Curry who has a great voice and is a very funny lady. Oil Nez was excellent, he plays a number of wind instruments and is very entertaining and interacts well with the audience. Our return flight was scheduled at 2.25pm from Venice airport. We were concerned that we would be forced to disembark by 9am and then be "abandoned" at the airport. However, those travelling on JSS received an invitation from the Guest Relations Manager, Milana Dortangs, to a disembarkation presentation in Reflections. During this presentation she was very thorough, detailing exactly what to expect on the morning of disembarkation. She was available for questions from guests at the end. On the day of departure guests could remain in Cellar Masters/Sushi on a Five to wait for their disembarkation time slots. Refreshments were provided throughout the morning and a member of staff distributed quiz sheets with crosswords/sudoku to those who required something to pass the time. When time slots were announced a member of staff escorted a group to the lift and down to the exit. We were guided to where our luggage was situated and escorted to our coaches. On arrival at Venice airport we were met by Celebrity representatives who supplied trolleys for our luggage. Again, we were escorted to the check in and guided towards security. It was extremely well organised and slick. The return flight was slightly delayed but that didn't cause us too much trouble as we had a car parked at Cardiff airport. We were served a hot meal followed by dessert along with a choice of soft drinks, beer, red or white wine and tea or coffee. It was the best in-flight meal we had in years. Again the crew were very pleasant and helpful. On return to Cardiff we had to show our boarding pass to staff who then provided a ticket to insert at the barrier to allow us to exit the car park. The cruise was much better than expected as over the last few years we have sailed on much smaller ships and the staff tend to be very approachable. We can honestly say that we couldn't fault anything on this cruise. The staff, waiters, pool butlers and crew were equally delightful and friendly. Each one wore a star on their uniform which we believed meant that they were employee of the month but everyone had a star. Apparently it is to remind them of the ethos of the company - to strive to be a star and to do their utmost to help all guests have a wonderful experience. We think it's worked - each and everyone we met was delightful. Read Less

Our cruise to the Mediterranean on the Constellation was truly amazing. We visited Italy, France and Spain. Cabin 7051 was adequate. Ship has been refurbished, but still shows wear. Although we would sail on it again. TV reception was nonexistent. As we like to keep up with world events, it was upsetting. Blackout lasted for five days until they got tired of our complaining and fixed it. Shower in cabin is largest we've ever had!!!! Ports were all beautiful. We formed our own tours in all ports through Cruise Critic participants except for Portofino. We took the ship's tour to Cinque Terre. They did a wonderful job. Since Cinque Terre is far, we were glad to have the reassurance that we would be back on time or the ship would be waiting. We had heard stories of many people nearly missing the boat due to the distance of Cinque Terre away from port and the many means of transport necessary to get there. Bon voyage! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the great itinerary especially the overnight stays in Dubrovnik and Malta. We had sailed on Celebrity Constellation many years ago and had fond memories. The ship still fits my choice of a traditional mid sized ship but the service was often mediocre and the class distinction has spoilt the happy relaxed feeling a cruise should have. The recent upgrades are attractive especially in the Reflections Lounge where we remember on a previous cruise enjoying a pre dinner cocktail, but on this cruise it was closed every evening at 5pm so the "elite" class guests could have exclusive occupancy, and several times during the afternoon it was closed for private functions. The staff were often very rude about clearing the lounge. We were also disappointed with the live entertainment in the lounges which was very minimal and almost never appropriate for the age of the large majority of guests. The only performance in the theatre that we enjoyed was Jayne Curry. The food and service in the main dining room was very good and we looked forward to it each evening. However, the same could not be said for the Oceanview Cafe, and we were not surprised by the outbreak of norovirus considering the state of cleanliness of the crockery and cutlery. The day before the announcement, I pointed out to a staff member that I had discarded 10 cups before I had found a clean one. We were "lucky " to avoid the virus, and for me the negative aspects could be pushed to the background, but not so for my husband. Read Less

We spent four days in Milan prior to the cruise to visit Lake Como which was beautiful. We took the train to Venice to meet up with our cruise. That was the only confusing part, getting from the train station, the to the port, the people mover, walking through a long parking lot to finally find the ship. We had a special price with Celebrity for a "guaranteed" oceanview room, and we were not disappointed. We were midship in 2097, and very pleased. I tend to get seasick if I am too high up in the ship, so this worked well for me. This was the second cruise since the Constellation had come out of dry dock for upgrades, and the ship was looking very nice. As far as the room was concerned the carpet was new, but the bathroom did not appear to have had renovations done. Most of the public areas were sparkling new though. We ate at the 6:15 Main Dining Room, and the food was exceptionally good, but the service was slow. The first night we were just getting our dessert at about 8:20 PM and the next seating was for 8:30 PM. They asked us if we could come at 6:00 PM the rest of the nights, and we agreed. It was some better, but slower than other Celebrity ships. We did hear that the ship was short about 150-200 employees. The Enertainment was good, and we never had a difficult time finding a seat to enjoy the show. There was the usual, musical fare, magical show, comedian, dancers and singers. We did participate in a Celebrity shore excursion at each of the ports and were pleased with all of the them with the exception of the Island of Capri, $144. On that one the guide pretty much left us on our own most of the time, and then suggested a certain restaurant to go to for lunch. We all went in and sat down to order lunch as the town was so crowded, and lunch without alcohol ended up costing $100 Euros. I thought that was too much for a small plate of pasta, and should not be a place that the guide is sending everyone to without a warning. In Sicily we took an excursion called Beautiful Taormina and Blue Grotto and it was wonderful. We walked throughTaomina, had a "typical Sicilian" breakfast, and then took a boat ride near a town called Giardina Naxos and saw the Blue Grotto. Well worth the day and the $159.00 Read Less
