We have have been traveling a fair bit for the past few decades. India and Sri Lanka have always been part of our to-go list but only wanted to do it on a cruise because we did not want to stay locally. Imagine our delight when we found this route. We have been to the other places included - Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman but we still joined a couple of the tours to revisit these wonderful places. Celebrity Constellation is a very tidy ship. The staff on board including our cabin steward made sure it was kept immaculate. Not once did I see plates or rubbish stacked anywhere. The ship is old but you will be surprised that we never saw any rust or dilapidated flooring, walls etc. Furniture - in the public and dining places were all in very good condition. The biggest downfall of this cruise were the shore excursions. The choices they gave were basically not interesting - just driving around the cities, having a few stops for pictures and a bit of shopping in the local filthy markets. The descriptions of the tours are not well prepared and often misleading. India is a place where people in their 50s visit. They let you walk and walk in the afternoon but they dont say that in the description of the tours. I was in two tours where guests complained to the guide why we have been walking for over 2 hours and worse, walking around in circles in those crowded streets. My husband and I thought it was just us having a whinge privately until we actually heard a couple of the other guests call the attention of the guides. Also, the places they chose to offer more often than not had no historical significance or mildly put, just useless and not interesting for the ordinary traveler. I have heard of other stories where they sent them to filthy plantation sites that did not even have any water. My husband and I think those who prepared and selected the tours on offer did not take their job seriously. I think they just came up with the list without even visiting or trying out these tours themselves. The experience we had with these tours have forced us to re-evaluate our future bookings with Celebrity. We compared the shore excursions being offered by other cruiseliners from the same port. Unfortunately, we found out that Celebrity does offer the poorest type of shore excursions for the other ports of our future cruises. People go on a cruise to see things and not just stay in the cabins. Hence, shore excursions are important. Another thing, we did not like in Celebrity Constellation is the limited number of places to dine. It was a 15 day cruise. Obviously, you cannot expect us to dine at the Blu ( for Aqua Class passengers) the whole time. They only had the main dining room ( San Marco), the Oceanview Buffet and the 3 specialty restaurants, the Tuscan Grill ( never changed its menu) , QSine ( food is truly horrible here) and the SUshi place. I have been used to ships with having at least 8 restaurants on offer. It is not the ship's fault but I think it is worth mentioning in order to avoid disappointment. The Oceanview buffet is were 90% of the passengers have their lunch. Choices are abundant but they seem to taste the same and are often cold. There were days when the food was actually great. The Entertainment is another disappointment. We thought the performers were auditioning for a job when the ship docked. The Cabin was okay except for the fact that the ship only had 5 movies on offer and was played on rotation. Hence by Day 6 you will have the video on Day 1 on offer again. You can opt to rent a movie. With Princess and Norwegian, if you are in this cabin class ( which is one step lower than the suites) you get a wide selection of movies. You can forget the TV unless you can stand 16 days of Fox News. In summary, you need to really do your research when joining a cruise of this type. It was not the worst cruise we ever were on BUT it could have been heaps better if our host pointed us to the right direction in order to see the better side of what India has to offer. The service we received from everyone from the cabin attendant, the restaurants, room service, stores, guest service, etc is one of the best we have experienced in a cruise liner. Read Less

we chose the cruise for the itenary and it was a area we wanted to go to but unfortunately we did not enjoy the "MDR" as the menu did not change we spent most of our time in the buffet where there was plenty choice also the entertainment was very poor indeed the main dance/singers only done 4 shows in the 15 day cruise not what we expected at all the house bands well to be honest a pub band would of been better the cruise director (Paul) he does not have a clue how to entertain most of the entertainment he done was game show style or putting round a restaurant and that's meant to be 5 star as for the ship itself we could not fault it very clean indeed the ship staff very friendly but it lacked atmosphere on the pool decks mainly at night the bars were all empty no music or dancing going on and we were not the only passengers to notice this some are celebrity regulars would we go with celebrity again I doubt it unless the rely look at all the areas that need to be looked at Read Less

We have travelled with Celebrity before including this ship and Equinox. Although old and due for refit the overall condition was good. A few areas could do with some updating overall it was good with some areas having recently been re-fitted. Our cabin was good. Service was excellent everywhere and the food generally very good. Entertainment varied as it does on all ships but was up to standard. The audio volume was, of course, too high making female singers very harsh but the management will continue to ignore requests to lower the volume as 'they know best'. We had a bundled Classic drinks package which was useful but no one understood how it worked. Wine lists were difficult to find and it was not easy to find out what named drinks and pricing existed in each bar and restaurant. Some wine types ran out within 2-3 days. The daily cocktail was sometimes within the package and at other times not. The Miami management need to review how it all works. Drinks within the package were not charged the 18% gratuity which surprised and pleased us! More UK beers would be nice and not chilled. Excursions were the usual mix of good and not so good and now you have to ask for a shore map as they are kept in hiding behind the Guest Relations counter and not on show as in previous years. Internet package costs are astronomical so don't expect to use Wi-Fi on board unless you are rich. Some public areas of the ship were too cold and management need to check stat settings. Despite the negatives the experience was good. Read Less

We loved the itinerary of this cruise. Singapore embarkation was quick and luggage delivered to our room. Our Balcony cabin 8031 was spacious with enough closet space. However the bathroom mirror fogged up after the shower. We reported it to the house keeping and front desk. After 3 service call the repairman couldn't fix the problem indicating the problem with their exhaust system of the ship. I am a vegetarian the first few days the food was very skimpy, after speaking to Restaurant manager the problem was fixed. The dining room staff Elias and Johnson were friendly and very efficient. Our room attendant Daria is very sweet and always asked about our comfort. The shows are excellent. Overall it was a good cruise, hope celebrity will replace this ship with a newer one. Shore Excursion we took Colombo, Goa, Muskat and Dubai excursion. Most of the excursions were city tours. The tours were OK. Overall thecruise was average due to creeky old ship. Read Less

We stayed in Singapore the night before in the Copthorne riverfront hotel where we were able to walk along the river before being picked up by taxi at 1pm. Embarkation was very quick as we are elite we were put through a short queue. With all visas checked and in order we were onboard within 1/2 hour. Cabin was available when we boarded at 1.30 and cases arrived about 4 in time for muster which was crowded but quick. the cabin 1126 was excellent, just what we ordered, peaceful and kept very clean with a good shower. Being elite we had cocktails and canopies from 5pm. it was good to meet over a drink before dinner, Chris the captains club manager mingled as did many other officers We had 1st sitting in the main dining room. food was always very good and our waiter made sure that we were happy with our meals every day breakfast in the Oceanview was where they serve the best poached eggs and egg Benedict sometimes we had breakfast in the dining room The best ice-cream at sea is available all day in the oceanview and always served with a smile entertainment was varied with only one bad night and that was the Elton John tribute, half of the audience had got up and walked out of the 1st show. there was music and bands or games to attend so plenty going on. By 11 the ship was very quiet as the cruise was port intense we booked 4 excursions before we left home through the celebrity site when we saw the 30% off we did find extra excursions when on ship and changed our basic trip to Cochin to a longer and fuller itinerary which included a boat trip, they refunded the money paid and i rebooked, so it worked out well. Staff from the ship were on the trip to help out and i must praise Spicey from the children club , who supervised with such care we loved the tea plantation trip in Sri Lanca We did the Mombai on the Move on the 1st day in Bombay which included a train journey and on the 2nd day the markets . both trips were very informative and enjoyable Goa we stayed on board and enjoyed the facilities At Muscat we docked in the town and so walked as we had been before. the souks are very near with cafes along the sea front . this was a very pleasant place to stop and just walk Dubai we have also been to before. most people on the ship booked the open top bus Phuket was by tender straight into the town, tender was very quick both ways and as it was our 1st stop we just walked in the lovely sunshine along the beach front We loved this cruise, we had a good itinerary, met some lovely people and found that the staff onboard were the most friendliest that we have encounted Our flight was not till 2.30 am so we booked into the Millennium hotel which was opposite the airport and they provided transport back at 11pm. That was better than staying at the airport all day Cruise was booked with Alana at Cruise.co.uk who looked after us and made sure that we had the correct visas etc and was always available for advice Read Less

Chose cruise because of itinerary but also because of good experience of good previous Celebrity experience. Great cruise. Singapore to Dubai via India. Our 3rd celebrity cruise but first on a Millennium class ship Embarkation in Singapore very slow but disembarkation very efficient. We had 2 nights in Singapore pre cruise and 2 nights Abu Dhabi post cruise in our cruise package from Iglu Cruises. Hotels good and all but one private transfer went smoothly. Very happy with ship. Never seemed crowded. Preferred dining room layout to the Solstice class ships. Not the same wow factor admittedly but seemed roomier. Food excellent. Great variety, particularly in Ocean View buffet restaurant. Best buffet we've experienced. Service in main dining room a bit slow at times but good otherwise. Think the kitchen struggled to cope the nights there was an extra special cook to order dish. such as lobster or Beef Wellington. Very friendly crew. Must have said Good Morning about 20 times on way to breakfast!! Entertainment - high quality guest artists and varied shows. Ships own productions ok. Best was the Broadway Show, particularly Les Miserables. Loved the Modern Strings duo who played at various venues around ship and the guitarist. Lacked enrichment talks about the countries we were visiting. "Beyond Podium " talks apart from one on Buddhism not relevant to itinerary. Ports of Call talks more about selling excursions than giving information about the country or port. Loved Cafe al Bacio. Went there most afternoons and had quality coffee and yummy cakes. Staff particularly Marren and Anastasia very attentive. Enjoyed the Modern Strings duo music there too. Bliss! Cabin great. Outside on deck 3 midship. Comfortable and bright with large circular window and no higher deck overhang. Good sized shower and nice built in bathroom furniture. Cabin in good convenient location. Kept perfectly by our steward Yacob. Atrium a bit dull looking and lacked atmosphere compared to Solstice class ships. Rendevous bar decor a bit dull too but that may be addresses in the upcoming refurb. Would be nice to have a Piano Bar in Atrium or something to give atmosphere. Most attractive bar area was deck 4 martini and crush bars but very popular and hard to get a seat there. Pool area and top decks had plenty of sunbeds but finding shade was difficult. More areas with sun canopies would be good. All in all a wonderful experience. had forgotten how good Celebrity is since 6 years since last cruised with them. Will be back! Thanks to Celebrity and to our travel Company Iglu, who were most efficient at organising the whole wonderful trip. Read Less

After a gruelling but uneventful 13 hour flight to Singapore with BA we walked from Arrivals (not far at all) to the Crowne Plaza, which was obviously WAY out of Singapore centre, Why oh why Celebrity? It was a lovely hotel but we were a 'captive audience' with no choice of eateries etc. and no chance to see the beauty of the city at night. Bad choice Celebrity! The following morning we were transported to the dock as normal. Embarkation was no trouble. It was lovely to be back on the 'Connie' once again! She was just how we remembered her but now a little tired and in need of a facelift perhaps. We love the layout of this class of Celebrity ship. Not too large to get around and sensible sized lounges etc. (Unlike some of the newer ships we've encountered). Due to the early arrival, the cabin was not ready, no biggie. Spent a while in the buffet with friends who had travelled in from another part of the World. The food was up to the standard we have come to expect from Celebrity and there was plenty of choice. Our cabin was on deck eight and the balcony protruded further than many on the ship. This gave us an uninterrupted view along the length of the vessel. Although a decent size with adequate storage, the cabin appeared somewhat smaller than on the likes of Silhouette, Reflection etc. and again showed some signs of age. Brilliant cabin steward! Our first encounter with the main dining room was quite disappointing it has to be said! The food was quite poorly cooked and tasted as if it been stood under a heat lamp for a while. Not a great start. Sadly it never really improved. Although were persevered with the dining room most evenings, and there were a few very good dishes during the cruise, it was certainly below the standard we have become used to with Celebrity and far short of our experience on Independence of the Seas, last June. The dining room staff and waiters were brilliant, no request was 'too much trouble'. As a musician myself I'm naturally quite critical of the standard of entertainers, musicians etc. on a cruise ship. The bands were of a good standard overall and the 'House Band' that backed most of the guest acts were brilliant. BUT as on most ships, the sound in the theatre was quite poor to my ears. It lacked punch and the bass player might as well have not been there as there was SO little bass content in the mix. Come on cruise lines, stop employing sound engineers with a 'theatre' background and get some rock 'n' roll guys in, your audience is changing! We didn't really see much of the other music acts on board so can't really comment. The guest artistes were all really good apart from a so called Elton John tribute who was dreadful! I've seen much better in the local clubs in the UK. Being of a certain age we didn't get involved in any physical activities on board but really enjoyed the daily quizzes on sea days and the port lectures were very informative, if a little over cautious about going-it-alone in ports. Which brings me on to shore excursions. First port of call was Phuket. We made the choice to take a local tour mini bus from the dock side. What a fabulous decision! The vehicle was brand new and had been 'pimped' to a very high standard inside. A great driver who took us to the Big Buddha (breathtaking) and an area where there were a number of temples/mosques and market stalls, fabulous. He then dropped us at The Hard Rock Cafe later. Phuket, one of the highlights of the trip! Colombo was our next port. We took an excursion via the ship. A brilliant local guide took us to a couple of points of interest including the Independence Memorial Hall and the National museum. Not enough time was given to enjoy the museum! We finished the tour with tea on the veranda at the very upmarket Galle Face Hotel, which was an enjoyable experience. Overall, not a brilliant tour as much of it was spent in the bus in traffic. (to be expected in the this part of the World I guess) so wouldn't do it again. My advice, take a local trip off the dockside. Cochin was next, our first real taste of India and that's what we got! The taste of pollution was with us from the time we hit the dock. (not literally) :) Again we foolishly took a trip via the ship. We were first taken to a ramshackle Shiva temple which was closed! A very unpicturesque building, so little point in taking us there. We then drove to Church of St. Francis, Fort Kochi which in its own way was quite beautiful but drab and fairly uninteresting. Some of the folks then walked to see some Chinese fishing nets which were quite a distance, we didn't bother as we'd seen them previously whilst driving. Which is really what the body of the trip consisted of, driving through traffic, it was hideous! We were so pleased to see the ship again! Don't bother doing that excursion. Which brings me on to Goa, our next port. I'm a collector of Hard Rock Cafe/Hotel pins (badges) so we always endeavour to make it to any HRC in the ports visited. In this case it was a HR Hotel in the Saligao district of Goa. As none of the trips offered on the ship went near to the hotel, we (foolishly) decided to take a private excursion offered by Celebrity Cruises at a cost of $800!!!! We gave them our desired points of interest including the Reis Magos fort, which was recommended to us, plus assorted temples etc. We were quite excited about this tour, a private vehicle, a guide plus wonderful points of interest, what could be better? Most of it basically! The bus was old and rickety, the guide arrived late and the fort was closed! What angered us was, there were bus loads of Constellation guests already in the fort when we arrived (although the fort WAS officially closed on that day) but we were NOT allowed in despite our tour being booked on the ship! We were granted a 10% discount off a future tour and a small refund by the tour desk but this really didn't make up for the pretty poor experience sadly. But at least we had lunch at The Hard Rock Hotel and I bought pins and a tee shirt! We didn't know quite what to expect in Mumbai. Having watched various travelogue progs on TV we had preconceived ideas about India I guess. Our guide was fabulous! She was SO interesting and genuine. In keeping with other ports, the traffic and pollution was excessive, to be expected. We were taken to the Gateway to India (obligatory), the Victorian railway station and Ghandi's house plus a few other sights. Altogether an enjoyable day! We were overnight in Mumbai but didn't go ashore the second day. After a couple of days at sea we arrived in Muscat, Oman. The highlight of the cruise!! Pristine is the word that sums up the city. Not a scrap of rubbish or debris on the streets, beautifully kept road-sides, roundabouts and public places. Our guide on the ship-booked excursion was superb and a really lovely man with SO much knowledge about not only his country but the whole of the middle east in general. We were escorted to the most spectacular Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, about half an hours' drive from Muscat centre. You HAVE to see this if you visit Muscat! We then went to the Mutrah souq where one can buy anything from clothing to lamps. An absolutely wonderful and enriching day! Having looked forward to seeing Dubai (and getting to another Hard Rock Cafe) for a long time, it turned out to be quite disappointing! For a start it was cold and I made the big mistake of travelling in to the centre on the top deck of the bus! The bus we were actually taking the tour on was picked up at a terminus outside the Dubai Mall. Chaos reigned there with people trying to jump the queue to get out of the cold wind. After already losing an hour of our day we managed to get on the bus and begin the rather tedious tour of Dubai. SO many road works and building sites. The traffic was hideous (I believe I've used that word before). We didn't get off the bus until we arrived at the WAFI Mall where we needed to get a cab to the Hard Rock cafe which is in the Festival City Mall way out of the centre. The cabs are so well priced! Probably our fault but we didn't enjoy our day in Dubai much as we made little effort to see 'the sites' as such, plus it was very cold. Maybe return someday? Our final destination and point of departure was Abu Dhabi, a day later. As we were there overnight we thought we would be able to take a walk around parts of the city after being dropped off at the hotel. NAH! Once again Celebrity had decided to stick us in the Novotel Al Bustan out near the airport! Why Celebrity?? It was a super hotel though and we were able to get a cab to a nearby mall to eat and do a little last minute shopping, as you do. The downside was, we had to leave the hotel at 4am as we were flying from (you guessed it) Dubai, where we had been a day earlier!! No problems at the airport as we were there before the cleaners had finished their work having taken only an hour and a quarter to drive from Abu Dhabi. A lovely breakfast at Giraffe Cafe, Terminal 1 was very welcome. Such a shame the HRC Dubai Airport is in Terminal 3 so I couldn't get there. Hey Ho. Summing up (please do)! It was a wonderful cruise on the Celebrity Constellation and we enjoyed most of the experiences both on board and on land. We would highly recommend this cruise if you've not been to this wondrous part of the world. So much culture with some spectacular vistas to behold and remember for the rest of your days on the planet. My advice, for what it's worth, ignore most of the excursions offered on board (expensive and not good value generally) and go for a local mini bus and driver/guide found on the dockside in most ports. Ask to see the bus before committing as they vary widely in age and quality and HAGGLE! We (four people) got a full day tour in a brand new bus in Phuket for $150 US. Wonderful memories! Read Less

Service generally way off cekebrity standards except in Blu - food and service there was excellent. Wi-Fi improved but still intermittent. Excursions so so. Local providers much better and cheaper. Prices for everything on the ship extortionate. Fitness facilities on the ship were very good and the Buffet selection on food was excellent The food and service in the Suite restaurant Luminae we're both terrible and certainly not worth the premium do you have to pay to be in a suite We took shore excursions run by the ship in five of the ports and again, they were very mediocre and not close to offering value for money. In one case for example, the excursion started at 1 pm and the first stop was a fish market which had just closed . In another port because only one exit to the dark from the ship was open it took over 20 minutes just a disembark All in all we were not impressed by the ship or the service and value we received Read Less

After a wonderful cruise to the Baltic on Silhouette we turned to Celebrity for Christmas and New Year and found the India and Emirates cruise, which we booked with great anticipation. What a disappointment, the ship, not the itinerary. Not enough storage space in cabin, cases would not fit under the bed, seal strips kept coming off the shower door, the balcony, deck nine had a massive overhang from deck ten which was the pool deck, so there was constant noise and running footsteps, even in the cabin we had youngsters running up and down the corridor, this is not something we expect in an Aqua Class cabin. There was no adult only area on the pool deck which meant we had constant loud music and shouting, the sunbeds were rammed so close together,(if an empty one could be found) one could have mistaken the deck for a Riviera beach. Celebrity advertise that they cater for low sugar, which l might add is a medical requirement, not a lifestyle choice, no evidence in the Oceanview restaurant of low sugar. infact the organisation in their was very poor on the whole. Afternoon tea consisted of Pizza or Pasta until the last day when miraculously sandwiches appeared and much to my husbands delight scones. We book Aqua class because we love the Blu restaurant, l was delighted to see a low sugar desert option which l ordered, what a mistake, there is certainly a lack of understanding with the chefs on what low sugar actually means, luckily for me our waiters and Maitre d were so concerned that the problem was soon corrected. I was asked for some examples and every night l was provided with a delicious desert. Special thanks to Avan for actually buying me some low sugar sweets when we were in India. The staff on board were always very helpful and polite, things are not always the fault of the actual staff. Sometimes l have mobility difficulty, l couldnt have wished for more help. Our excursions were a mixture, Mumbai was something we would not have missed, a unique experience. On the whole Christmas and New Year on the ship was disappointing, not the fault of the staff. Come on Celebrity stop resting on your laurels, we are looking at other cruise lines. Read Less

A long awaited visit to this region after the trials and tribulations of getting the e-visa for India , we were very excited about the cruise The embarkation was very efficient after a long tiring drive from Dubai airport. The cabin wasn't ready until later but we had the use of the other areas while waiting and had lunch in Ocean view restaurant which was adequate. The ship was not as opulent as others we have sailed on. This was first experience with Celebrity. We were very disappointed with the stateroom which was a 2a balcony on deck 7. The room was very dated old curtains poorly fitted. Valance on bed dirty , room dirty . The bathroom had hairs stuck on shower and floor was stained. The actual balcony looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly for weeks. This had to be re-cleaned by the stateroom attendant, after this it was satisfactory for rest of cruise. The bed was comfortable . Just no wow factor ! The San Marco dining room was good , waiters efficient and food very nice. At busy times had a little wait for a table. The sea days were calm, nice and relaxing. Three Chic evening's gave us the chance to dress up but not compulsory to wear a tuxedos. The Ships excursions just gave us a whistle stop tour but we got to see the places we planned. India was challenging but exciting. The people were so friendly, Mumbai busy lots of traffic as we expected. The last day arrived late afternoon in Abu Dhabi with a trip planned for 4pm to Grand Mosque which was not for the faint hearted, after immigration we proceeded for panoramic tour then onto the highlight of the Mosque. I would NOT recommend this trip as seems that Friday is definitely not the best time to go and don't think ship highlighted the challenges this trip held. It was absolutely manic , pushing crowds and frightening long wait least 1.5 hours in dreadful dangerous crowds before you even get through the Mosque security scanners. Once inside the crowds were in the thousands and detracting from the experience of visiting a beautiful place of worship. There must have had many complaints as the ship actually refunded the costs of the excursion. It was just a shame as it meant the last evening was extremely stressful and rushed with late arrival time to dinner , cases out for 10pm . This left us bit deflated after the very enjoyable last two weeks. Would I do it again YES! Read Less

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and the fact that we are generally very happy with Celebrity cruises. The itinerary had its plusses and minuses. Oman, Thailand and Singapore are delightful places, whilst India is the real pits - a filthy place. Food on board was really great for meat dishes on the evening meal, but fish is a little below par. Breakfast and lunch were good, though we have been spoilt a little more on the Eclipse with an even wider selection. The crew are motivated and always have a smile. Embarkation went really smoothly. Disembarkation took a little longer than expected. Anything that needs urgent improvement? Yes, make internet packages more customer friendly e.g. a 'minutes' package for 120 minutes, so that passengers can simply check their emails and social media packages daily without having to spend close to $300. We chose this cruise for the unusual itinerary from Abu Dhabi to Singapore via India and Sri Lanka. We had some reservations about using Celebrity Constellation due to previous negative reviews which described the ship as showing signs of age and being 'tired'. These fears were unfounded as the cabin, public areas and restaurants had obviously all been renovated and were in fine condition. We chose 'anytime' dining in the main restaurant and this worked well on most evenings with just 2 occasions when we had to wait for a table (with pager) and just one occasion when service was very slow. The quality of the food was excellent with a good variety of menus throughout the cruise. We just ate once in the Italian restaurant and this too was excellent though the supplement charged was rather expensive Entertainment in the main theatre was average cruise fare . The young singers and dancers were very talented but some of the material used was strange. One particular production show was like a mock pantomime and pretty atrocious. The other solo artistes were generally good except for one impressionist who was poor (several people left during the performance). The best act was Bayne Bacon (comedian/pianist) who was exceptional. He also took part in 'The Wedding Game' game show but there was not enough of this type of entertainment. Read Less

Such an interesting and varied cruise. From sophisticated AbuDhabi and Dubai to the chaotic streets of Mumbai then on to lush Kerala, and our favourite - Sri Lanka. Then the final enjoyment of a few nights in Singapore. The ship was maybe a little tired in places but we were looked after so we’ll and as suite class guests had a few extra perks - we thought the cruise was fantastic. Embarkation and debarkation were calm and efficient. Our stateroom was the only issue and one that was not completely resolved. 9096 it appears is directly below the doorway from the lift area out to the pool deck. Trolleys pass overhead all night long! We were woken several times every night. Staff made efforts to divert the trolleys but I ended up sleeping on the sofa bed. We have received satisfactory compensation which helps a little. Needless to say I enjoyed a long nights sleep once in Singapore! Staff in Luminae and Michaels club were super. Entertainment team were amazing. Stateroom team brilliant. Thanks to everyone - will cruise again soon but will NEVER book onto deck below public areas! Read Less

The cruise lived up to all expectations with food, service and entertainment of a very high standard. For peace of mind we booked all our shore excursions through Celebrity and enjoyed them all immensely.Highlights were a trip on the Viceroy train in Columbo and the Mumbai tour where our guide,a lovely lady of a certain age, insisted on still calling the city Bombay! Also not to be missed is a visit to the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, although this was undertaken during our pre cruise city stay. Entertainment was of a high standard, particularly in the theatre on the 3 "evening chic"nights where some spectacular trapeze work was performed by two talented aerial artistes. The performances of the regular dance troupe in their spectacular costumes were also a delight. We booked a sky suite which gave us access to the excellent facilities food and service available in the Luminae restaurant and Michael's lounge. This booking also came with personal embarkation and disembarkation services which were much appreciated. just got back from 15 night best of india and sri lanka 10/o4 /18 in aqua class cabin 9061 .cabin ok but a little tired staff work hard to keep a good standard but sheets towels and carpets all need to be replaced I also had a chat with two ladies that were on deck 6 that were complaining of bed bugs in their cabin.the food in blu was very good and the staff were wonderful which is more than can be said for the oceanview café .I,m a early starter so I,m one of the first in for breakfast and everything was always cold except for the toast which was just warmed up bread if you asked for it to be done a bit more you got a look as if you were mad .at lunch if you wanted anything other than Asian dishes the choice was very poor. on one day there was fish and chips which looked very nice but the fish was so hard that you could not cut into it and the chips well its the first time I,ve had chips that were brunt on the outside and still frozen on the inside. the shore excursions got off to a bad start with the one I was looking forward to most cancelled before I left with hindsight I wish they had all been cancelled as they were all poor value except for the walking tour in sri lanka which was very good ,the sightseeing and shopping in Phuket was disgraeceful late starting no stops for food or drinks at the last stop at a shopping mall at 6pm we were told it would be 1 1/2 hr stop most people wanted to return to the ship but were told if you did you would have to make your own way back to the ship a 10 minute walk which turned out to be a 25 minute taxi ride I complained when back on the ship and was told it was the first time this trip had been run I hope it was the last Read Less

Chose this cruise mostly because of itinerary. Really wanted to check out India even though it’s only by a cruise stop. We explored Dubai for four days before cabbing it to Abu to board the ship. What a GREAT city. These guys in Dubai have really got it together. Embark and disembark went great. Entertainment was great. We found one thing strange. A one time only special production show was offered at 11 pm in the theatre. REALLY? Also if get back late from a shore excursion the food offering between 4-6 is VERY limited.Food at all venues was perfectly acceptable. We had late fixed in the MDR. This is mass market cruising folks and we feel people just expect too much. This not your private yacht. People continually arrive late for dinner and mess up the serving routine for the whole table.Service in MDR was just fine. This ship is getting older but they are doing a good job at keeping her in good shape. Getting a cocktail in the evening was a bit of a challenge. So many people with drink packages on these Celebrity cruises bars are really busy. Martini bar so crowded we often just gave up. Bartenders seemed more concerned with providing a show than serving customers. Shore excusion in Mumbai are a challenge due to traffic. We chose a private car plus guide. Best decision EVER. Wish they would run morning cruise director info in a continuos loop without all the advertising between segments. All in all a good cruise ,sorry for my randomness, but we are Princess people and just know the product better.. Read Less

We did a back to back, the first is the 14 night Vietnam and after the 15 night India. The first cruise was not so good and definitely not the Celebrity standard. It was not well maintained, very dirty when we got onboard the first day. It did improve over the course of the cruise. The furniture for the sunset deck was sticky and just felt dirty all the time. The rest was adequate though, the dining room was ok, not grand though. We never had a problem getting a table for 2. The room, oceanview, was fine, comfy bed. The food was quite a disappointment. Even for the specialty restaurants which were actually quite expensive, was very amateur. The steakhouse was awful. I ordered tomato mozzarella entree and it was super cold, the huge tomato was all mushy simply because it had been frozen. I asked for the maitre-d and he didn't know that it needs to be served fresh... Tried the fancier Q-Sine, all show no content. Looks good, you see that they try at least to make something special but all the dishes didn't pass the bar. Very disappointing. The only decent restaurant was the sushi place. Other minor disappointments, the outside movie, had only a very late showing, nothing at 8pm. No game room, nothing. Best part was the personel as usual on these ships. Read Less

Got a good price for this cruise, and a friend had never been to Singapore, Thailand, nor Vietnam, so we went for it! Embarkation was very quick and smooth, even though Celebrity sent mixed messages to passengers beforehand. We stayed in a cabin on Deck 2 and were asked to embark at 6:30pm even though our Dining Room was scheduled for 6:15pm. Took forever for Celebrity to reply to my email asking how this could make any sense. When they did reply, they skirted the question and just advised to embark anytime we wanted. Huh??? Cabin was fine, food was decent, only went to Oceanview Cafe and San Marco Dining Room, and Cafe Al Bacio. Skipped Specialty Dining altogether. Breakfast choices were very boring, but lunches and dinners were fine. Hard to believe that a cruise ship these days could actually run out of bananas halfway through the trip, but it actually happened. Entertainment in Celebrity Theatre was so so. Enjoyed Jeff Luhn's Beyond The Podium lectures. Informative and mixed in with some dry humour, very good speaker indeed. Missed out on Nha Trang port of call due to rough waters in port. Not that I'm complaining when someone gives me money, but there was no explanation as to why I received $15.38 USD in additional onboard credit on Feb 6th, very strange. This was my fourth Celebrity cruise, so perhaps might be time to give some of my future cruise business to another company...Oceania, Holland America, Princess??? Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the exotic destination and the fact that January, weather wise, is the best time to go. That made our decision to sail on the Constellation an easy choice. A real drawback was having to get Indian Visas. Electronic ones do not cover the cruise so we had to apply for regular visas. It was expensive, and it was an ordeal. When Celebrity dropped one of the ports in India and cut it to three ports, I was very disappointed. Usually getting visas are easy, not so for India. Now I wish I had paid for a 10-year visa to make sure I never have to do that again! This was our first Celebrity cruise. We have sailed with several other cruise lines, but the last 4 cruises were with NCL on similar sized ships. All in all, it was a great cruise on the Constellation. There are things I preferred on NCL and some things on the Connie I liked better. I would travel either cruise line again giving preference to the one with the best destination and then the best price. I thought the food on the Constellation was very good. It was difficult to get my head around the fact that there is only one main dining room included in the price and only three specialty restaurants. As good as the food was in the main dining room, it is very noisy and I longer for somewhere quieter. We tried Qsine one evening. It is an additional $50 per person. For me, I found it a very confusing format. Anyone that has dined there knows what I mean. It is something to do once, but once was enough. Food in test tubes was just weird. One thing I learned from reading Cruise Critic was that there is a vegetarian menu for the main dining room if you ask for it. My husband is a vegetarian and he said that the menu did change every night so that was a plus for him. Entertainment was about equal on both cruise lines, some good, some not to my taste. NCL tended to have more variety acts in the Theatre and the Constellation seemed to have more single performers. It is a very nice theatre. We also enjoyed the lounge band J Beam. The Constellation is not particularly elegant. Having said that, I think our outside stateroom was roomier and better decorated than on the older NCL ships that I have sailed on. This ship did not have a promenade deck that goes all the way around. I missed that. It is too difficult to use the jogging track because it goes through the sunbathers. We purchased the classic beverage package. (It does not include as many liqueurs as NCL and does not have the ice cream type drinks like mudslides.) If I did buy a drink that was not included in the package, I only had to pay the difference in price. That made it less expensive than upgrading to a premium package. One advantage with the classic package is that it includes bottled water and coffee from the specialty coffee bar. I enjoyed the staff. Most were friendly, helpful and added to our enjoyment of the cruise. This isn’t a criticism but there were no towel animals. I missed that! It didn’t make or break the cruise, but it was an expectation! The only ship shore excursion I went on was to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It was worth every penny. Yes, I liked the cruise. Yes, I would sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

The cruise was 1st class Amazing selection of food, great restaurants. The staff were brilliant at all times and entertainment super. Rich and Liza were great entertainment managers and allways kept us informed. Our cabin was just fine and our cleaner couldnt do enough for us.The only problem was Air France lost our luggage so we didn't have any luggage the total 15 day cruise. The guest relations were brilliant and helped us out the best they could .Despite this problem the cruise was brilliant. We did not go on any excursions they were very expensive so we did our own thing and did not have any problems apart from Sri Lanka where the tuc tucs driver tried to charge us £80 for 3 hours but we paid him £40 which was a good rate.A great experience overall and would book again with the company. We did eventually get our luggage back when we returned but the damage was done Read Less

Just returned from the Arabian Sea Adventure on Celebrity Constellation. Have to say we were a bit worried by all the reviews after we had booked and many said the ship was tired and well worn. Well, I do not know which part they were looking at, but we found it to be wonderful everywhere. The beautiful coordinated furniture, comfy chairs and multiple lounge areas were superb. (so often there is no where to sit on a cruise ship and coffee shops etc are so full you end up back in your cabin!) We would recommend Celebrity to anyone who wants a truly wonderful ship; fantastic staff; superb food and great staterooms to book with Celebrity. We have not been on other ships in the Celebrity fleet, but will certainly have Celebrity on the top of our future cruise company list before booking elsewhere. (NB: We are not first timers - we have cruised with many other companies and Celebrity certainly comes top with us). The food was exceptional in every area. The Buffet food was great with variety and really good quality food. This was unfortunately marred by seeing other guests who ate wearing just a vest - dreadful; the other restaurants were stunning and it was lovely to have the 'chique' nights too. As a Sky Suite passenger, we were fortunate enough to eat in Lumiere most of the time, which was exceptional in every detail. Plus having Michaels lounge as a little hideaway was truly brilliant. Nadia and her team really made every day a wonderful experience. Read Less

2nd part of India Golden Triangle trip + cruise- a 12 day cruise that was less than average for the money paid We had an inclusive drinks package which was evidently embarrassingly very important to the band of heavy drinkers that were on board for this cruise!! We observed that there was a problem getting a sun bed and nothing done by crew to make this a fair process so just glad we weren’t sun worshipers! Cabin was in a poor state - furniture tired and faded - no money has been spent in this area for years - cabin steward lovely and very helpful. Public areas had evidently been refreshed fairly recently. Most activities onboard were chargeable and WiFi exeptionally expensive Food varied from good to average but staff in restaurant very pleasant and hard working. Used Celebrity several years ago to Alaska and were disappointed then so after this cruise will never use them again as their ships are past their sell by date Read Less

we selected the best of shri lanka and asia as we had never been to any of the ports of call. from that perspective really good but the ship was not up to usual celebrity standards. very tired and in need of refit which is scheduled for early May. the cruise line did not make us aware and the cruise was at full price with no discounts for condition. the food was only average and the entertainment well below what we have enjoyed on previous Celebrity cruises. the tours were all expensive and not well described - too many visits to jewel stores but with no time to look around even if you wanted to buy (45 mins). these were key stops even though we expected to visit temples, mosques and more interesting places. would not recommend to any one else and suggest careful check with cruise line before committing to a vacation Read Less

I was hopeful that I would be able to give a favourable review of this cruise, as it was to mark a 'special' birthday. Although a seasoned cruise traveller for the last 25 years, I hadn't used Celebrity before and expected it to be at the high end of cruise companies - in reality it was a huge disappointment. Taking the good points first - • The decor was tasteful - I particularly liked the art deco features and the majority of carpets were stylish, unlike the garish ones on some other ships. Having said that, the vessel is due for refit, so it would be a great pity to 'Americanize' it. • The staff [workers as opposed to officers] were obliging and although a whopping 18% service charge was imposed, at least all the staff benefit, although Celebrity should pay their staff more and not expect travellers to pay their wages. Taking the bad points - • Once onboard and a captive audience, passengers are faced with extra 'packages', due to inflated prices [e.g. a bottle of wine to be consumed in cabin only was $20], so it quickly became apparent that if wine was to be taken with meals outside the cabin it was necessary to fork out on a drinks package, at a huge cost. I misguidedly thought that I could order a dry martini from the Martini Bar, but was told that my Classic Package didn't entitle me to, but that I could get a martini from one of the other bars. [This actually wasn't too disappointing, because the disco music blaring out was deafening.] Internet packages were also expensive and unrealistic and hourly or daily options were not offered. Events which are free on other cruise ships [e.g. tours of the ship, cookery and IT demonstrations etc] all attracted an extra cost. This certainly left me with the feeling that 'the punter was being well and truly stuffed'. • The quality of the food in San Marco 4 left a lot to be desired. It was a concern that seafood was served that had clearly been under a heat lamp until all moisture had disappeared; my 'green lipped mussels' resembled a husk and were inedible. There was also a limited variety of food on offer in San Marco, compared to other cruise ships. And why any chef uses dried peas resembling bullets amazes me! We chose to share a table at dinner and - to a man - everyone said that they would not travel on this ship again. • the ports used were so far away from the tour excursion destinations, the cost was not only inflated, but the journey arduous and exhausting, particularly in Bangkok [ship to Bangkok 2hrs, + excursion time on top] and from Da Nang 3 hours. This also removed the option of the traveller to risk arranging their own tours, at a much cheaper price, for fear of not getting back onboard on time. A tour for 1 person to the floating markets was $148. In conclusion, it is sad that the huge American consortium that has taken over so many cruise lines has dumbed-down and downsized the cruising experience, in pursuit of the 'almighty $'. Whatever happened to formal nights, cocktails with officers, high tea, fine china, flower arrangements, port descriptions - oh, and celebrations? My travelling companion went to a lot of trouble to ensure my 'special' birthday would be recognised and celebrated; Customer Relations assured her that it would and the usual trappings of cake and singing would happen - she waited all evening in vain and we were both very disappointed when nothing happened.
