We picked the due for the itinerary and value for money. Rome, Sicily, Athens, Suez Canal, Aqaba for Petra, Muscat, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Sky suite, deck 6, midships, good location close to where you needed to be. Great feature was that the bed faced to window and not side on as in other suites we’ve had. Good standard of ship and guest entertainers. Luminae great as usual although there were a few night where we had to pick from the main dining room menu. Only thing that we disliked aboard the ship was the quality and appropriateness of piped music when there was no live music or DJ. The music in the Martini Bar which we love was appalling, techno electronic which set your nerves on edge and created a negative ambiance. I can’t stress how bad it was. We requested that they play something more appropriate to the bar and crowd aboard but were told that the music was set by head office in Miami and couldn’t be changed. Every evening we asked them to turn it down.......it was truly awful. Read Less

We were a family of 6 adults. This was my second celebrity cruise. We were in Aqua class. Disappointed in the cruise. The Suez Canal narrator did not have adequate microphone so he ended up speaking to people as they came up to him. Not at all like Panama Canal crossing on NCL. We used Aqua class and main dinning room menu- which was nice to have access to. Not as boring as repeats. The entertainment in the main venue was good but the entertainment in the other clubs was not. We attended most of the podium lectures which were good. Physics, naturalist and historical series. It was nice to get an invitation to go to helicopter area for docking. We ordered cheese for our afternoon snack which was far superior to the other offering in Aqua. No extra charge. Room service for breakfast was very prompt. Our cabin steward was always available and helpful. Aman. Our waiters at dinner got our preferences down and we had a table for 6 reserved for us which was spacious and nice. We went on private tours. The Dark Rome tour of the Basilicas and St. Peter's was great. The guides were very learned energetic and enthusiastic. We were able to get tickets to go down to St. Peter's tomb and see the old pagan cemeteries. Contact the Vatican- very limited each day. We were very lucky. On the way up to the main basilica we saw other areas. We also went to the top on the elevator. Would suggest this. You can climb up to the top for additional 300 stairs. We were happy with the elevator inside and out. You ended up where the statues are and the dome inside. To go to the top of the tallet building in Dubai get your tickets in advance. We were dissapointed. A must see the Mosque in Abu Dabi. We did a dune bashing which was fun. I would skip the dinner cruise- too long and you can get a water taxi that goes the same route and takes you to the gold market suick. I did not buy anything but the malls are a nice walk through with the aquarium and the ski slopes. Food courts are very interesting. Like being back in US but the customers were veiled. People were always very friendly. The acropolis is being restored which is nice. Also went to Poseiden ruins. Petra was fantastic and much larger than just the treasury in the Raider's movie. A very long walk. Horses and carts are available. Donkeys also. Hope this is helpful. No problem with pirates. We had some black out dates. Windows and curtains drawn. We did have a Safe Haven drill. Felt very safe. Enjoyed the Captian's talk.Buffet had great variety and was good. The aqua class comes with the Persiean Garden. This was not the same as on our other Celebrity cruise. Dark small and dank. I did enjoy the sauna for the general members off the pool. The gym was visited by my husband alot. The stretch exercises and abdominal exercises were good but needs to be offered more times especially since we had so many sea days with little activiites. They were very popular. I liked the fact that there was no hard pressure sales in the spa when we attended women's pamper day. My sister and sister in law enjoyed the brow presentation also. Our hostess in aqua class was wonderful. She greeted us and was very polite and happy!! She loved her job and it showed. Nice greeting every night. NurseGator Read Less

There's a lot of rust all over the ship. The public restrooms are almost always more dirty and smelly than the restroom on the average petrol station. The WTC Abu Dhabi shopping mall has better quality on their toilet paper than the ship. As always there are too many different kinds of music on at the same time around the Al Bacio, which is usually our favorite place to spend our time and money. This cruise we didn't. We couldn't. The two girls strangling their violins must have paid a lot of money to be on this ship because they really can't play. Classical music is supposed to be harmonious, but they have no ounce of harmony in their act. They just sound like they're mistreating their instruments. The singer Jessica Hart in the production team destroys everything that allows her to open her mouth. She can't carry a tune, at all. Vocal Captain Matt on the other hand is amazing. I've been calling Celebrity customer service a lot in the previous months asking about our upcoming trip and every time I got different answers. Not one person knew anything at all about visas or visitors permits. But they should all be fluent in the workings of the ship and that you will handle ships excursions and the guests needs. It turns out we've been worried for nothing. But we've actually seriously considered cancelling this cruise because it was virtually impossible to get any answers from customer services. The Silent Disco was the absolute highlight of the activities on the ship. The short episodes of "if you laugh you lose" would have won if they were longer. I could easily see this on stage in the theater for half an hour and remember it as the highlight of the cruise. Read Less

Firstly, a bit of background, this was our first cruise with Celebrity having 25 plus previous cruises mainly with the Carnival group of brands. The last ten years apart from one with P&0 and one with Fred Olsen all being with Princess Cruises. Last New Year we tried P&0 after a gap of 9 years - just to see if all the so many poor reviews could be accurate. For us they were true and could only be described as dreadful. The Ventura herself was a nice ship but Food and service were dreadful. For us the company that offered the cruising experience of old - was confirmed as long gone. We love Princess and have been Elite status with them for quite a few years. We have however become bored with their itineries; especially out of Southampton. So, we decided that it was time for a change and booked our first cruise with Celebrity. The cruise was a repositioning voyage from the Arabian Gulf back to Europe starting off in Abu Dhabi We became a little concerned when before the cruise various reviews on the Constellation were very mixed. However, we should not have worried - Overall the cruise was a great success and an absolute pleasure. It was almost as if the clock had been turned back and the cruising of 20 years ago was back again. Cruise was booked as a package through Cruise Kings including flights to Dubai All Transfers – 2-night stay in Dubai – Transfer from Civitavecchia to Rome airport and flight home. Transfer from the airport in Dubai to the Hotel was chaotic as reps attending the arrivals seemed to have little idea as to what was going on and who was going where. This was not helped as we were delayed getting through to arrivals by 1.5hrs delay in getting through the long lines at immigration. Hotel in Dubai whilst fine for the time stayed would not use again. We were booked in the Holiday Inn in Al Barsha; very close to Ski Dubai and the Mall of the Emirates. Hotel was more basic than expected, whilst clean and friendly enough the continuous piped music which resonated from the central atrium through to the rooms right through the night drove us mad. Our outbound flight with Emirates on the evening A380 Flight from Manchester was fine, but delay in getting through immigration in Dubai was a pain. Return flight from Rome to Manchester with Jet2.com was as expected - very basic. We knew at booking that this would be the case but due to relatively short flight and good timings we stuck with - but would not be a flight of choice otherwise. Boarding Celebrity Constellation in Abu Dhabi Had previously read that long queues could be encountered depending on the arrival time in Abu Dhabi. We changed our original departure time from the hotel in Dubai from 11.00 to 09.00. This was a very good tactic, as we arrived at the terminal with only a handful of other guests. The terminal building was very nice and seemingly brand new. After a quick look at the shops we proceeded straight through security and basis our Aqua Class cabin waived straight through to priority boarding. We were on the ship at 10.30 am and offered welcome onboard sparkling wine before we even got as far as the elevators – Nice touch. On boarding we were told that cabins would be available from approximately 13.30 and that announcements would be made. This was fine by us – Overall very well organised and stress free. Initial Impressions On boarding was very pleased to see that Celebrity Constellation appeared to be very clean and in Good condition. Yes, some carpeting in alleyways and public areas was obviously well worn but not exactly threadbare, Décor appeared a little dark and ‘dated’ but we soon got used to this and she is still a lovely ship. She does not have all of bells and whistles of more recent ships but still considered her as very nice. What was so striking was the friendliness and apparent high morale and friendliness of all the crew. It was all so nice after our most recent experience with P&0 where majority of crew persistently looked as if they were chewing a wasp! Cabin Cabins were released to passengers at 13.20. Our cabin Aqua class Balcony 9057 was slightly smaller than the balcony cabins we are used to on the “Grand Class “of ships but was well laid out and spotlessly clean. Balcony itself was ok and it was nice to note that it was not only very clean (Seen to be cleaned throughout the voyage) when other ships more recently full of salt and general grime/overpainted balcony furniture not touched throughout the cruise. One thing to point out which we found out about pre-cruise is that by design of the ship all balconies and those on decks 8 and 9 are completely shaded by the large overhang from deck 10 above. This was not a problem for us as the weather was so hot and the shade welcomed but for some cruisers and more temperate cruises direct sunshine onto the balconies is limited or in our case non-existent. Bathroom was excellent spotless – no plumbing problems – Proper glass shower door and excellent multi nozzle power shower. Only possible complaint was that the bed and mattress was worn and very lumpy – Hopefully this will be rectified in upcoming refit. We really missed the new luxury beds found onboard Princess. Another minor note was the condition of the net curtains on the patio door which were drab and patched. Other than this we were quite happy. With Aqua class – daily hors d’oeuvres are delivered in the afternoon. These to be honest these are not worth it and we told our steward not to bother with these about half way through the cruise as they often deserved afternoon naps. Same applied with the delivery of daily jugs of supposedly infused chilled teas. Being Aqua Class also got upgraded Bathrobes – Slippers and use of Binoculars and Umbrella in the cabin. Toiletries were informed to be upgrades on the normal items on offer but this being first Celebrity/Aqua class cabin can’t really comment. It was nice to see though that individual shampoos and conditioners are still provided as opposed to the general refillable bottles of shower gel recently replacing the individual toiletries on Princess cruises. Another supposed bonus for aqua cabins was unlimited use of the spa suite of sauna and steam rooms which they called the Persian Garden? Was told that this was much better on the Solstice class of ships but found on Constellation this was rather dark and dingy. Would not bother with the so-called rewards of aqua class if it were not for our own designated restaurant “Blue” This was in our opinion worth the upgrade on its own Food and Service We have not yet travelled on Princesses recently announced new Club class but guess that this is designed to compete with Celebrity Aqua class. Availability of separate restaurant even though we never used the main restaurant was to us well worth the upgrade on its own. The small and more intimate Blu restaurant open for Breakfast and Dinner we used every day except one day when we dined in Ocean Liners. To us the food and service could not be faulted. It was excellent. Management ashore should give credit to the excellent staff – service levels and Maître D as to the levels of excellent service and the product provided. Blu restaurant had different menu every day of the cruise. Must point out though that we are in no way criticising the product on offer in the main restaurant, as many conversations we had with other friends made during the cruise commented on the excellent standards and Menus on offer in the main restaurant. As already mentioned we did on one occasion use the speciality restaurant “Ocean Liners”. This was very nice indeed but we only used this once and did not use the other restaurant the Tuscan Grille quite simply because the food and service in our main Blu restaurant was so good there was no need to use the specialty restaurants. Our only possible complaint with food offerings was the main buffet the Ocean View Café. This was to our tastes and that of many other passengers not to our liking. We found the offerings to be very repetitive even though we only checked this out at lunchtimes. It was badly planned – laid out the different sections made the flow to be very poor making the pushing and shoving encountered very uncomfortable. Access to serving areas was poor forcing users to lean under the enclosed serving areas often needing the leaning over of other items more towards the front of the displays. This was as said poor and uncomfortable. Score of the main buffet is the only item which could possibly lower the overall score of the food and beverage dept. To be fair though ship can hardly be blamed for design and layout of the serving areas, but management could be faulted on the offerings available. Entertainment Evening entertainment and Productions in the Theatre were some of the best we have seen for a long time. During the cruise, we had 4 production shows by the ships production team 3 of which we considered to be excellent and one good. Other evenings we had different guest entertainers ranging from excellent to very good. Only one considered as mediocre was the magician card trick type of act but probably some people liked. All shows – acts lasted for approx. 50 minutes Much better than the 30 min presentations offered over the last couple of years by Carnival Group ships. Thought that cruise director was OK certainly put himself out and about around the ship, which is more than can be said for most these days. Daytime entertainment especially since we had so many consecutive sea days was lacking – Morning lectures were OK But afternoon offerings poor. Again, considering so many sea days Some of which were too hot to stay in the sun. During the latter part of the cruise afternoon movie presentations started – not sure if this was due to complaints but in any case came as a welcome break. In conclusion, the cruise was good – very good. Hotel aspects Food Service General Hotel services were excellent as was the ships cleanliness. So, nice to see that cold towels still presented on open decks during the very Hot weather and on return from shore. People think these are minor items and other companies cut these little things thinking they are not missed or indeed noted. Maybe not by the newbies who seem to be the target groups of other cruise lines But companies should be reminded that they are noted. Cleanliness onboard Celebrity Constellation was to be commended. Had into the habit of not using - even avoiding public restrooms onboard as even recommended due to outbreaks of Noro virus etc. Constellation was spotless Public bathrooms even had attendees especially in the evenings and kept gleaming with cloth towels offered by smiling attendants. Crew to be commended throughout the ship - starting at the top and all Hotel Management team commended. Many thanks to the Hotel director and all his obviously, content and happy crew. Whether next cruise will be Celebrity or Princess would go with either subject to itineries and possible deals. We missed many items normally found on Princess not least the free Laundry for Elites – Mini Bar Set up – Free Internet etc., Celebrity has the edge in our opinion from this one cruise. Hope that it is maintained and that ship based fixtures are attended to in the upcoming refit. Thanks to all on Constellation for a great experience overall Read Less

We chose this cruise because of its itinerary. It was our first time on Celebrity. We had some great adventures in Oman and Petra. A lot of sea days but we knew this going in. The Suez Canal was interesting and very different from the Panama Canal. The cruise staff was very friendly and outgoing. The entertainment was the best we have had onboard a ship in a long time. A very pleasant surprise. We really enjoyed the silent disco nights. What a fun idea! We were disappointed in the food. Not much fruit selection and they ran out of lettuce four days before the cruise ended. All salads were made with spinach. I must say that a Caesar salad made with spinach is not my idea of a Caesar. As the cruise progressed the food got worse, some bing quite stale upon serving. Not good advertising for future cruising with this cruise line. Overall we had a good time, but were disappointed with the food but not the service. The service was great! We are going on another Celebrity cruise in a few days, we hope the food is better. Only time will tell! Read Less

We have been cruising over 10 years, had took many segments of world cruises. The reason we chose this cruise was Suez Canal and Petra. We took the ship's shore excursion to Petra - great disappointment. The tour guide was very green in the area - not well organized, lacking experience to lead - worst of all it hard to hear from him due to large group (our tourist bus was fully loaded). For charging over $270 per person it did not even provide a bottle of water on the way back, especially it's over 2 hours drive and after few hours walk. The ship is dated thus showing its age. Overall services and food in the main dining room are OK - nothing exceptional. Most of the enrichment programs /talks were very informative. The presenters are knowledgeable of their subjects . We're in concierge cabin on deck 8. Our cabin was clean and tidy, however the sofa, bed skirt and towels are wore out. Read Less

This was a cruise to tick off 2 bucket list items, Petra and Suez Canal, We arrived early Monday morning and got to the port at 8:45 ish, Celebrity opened check-in at 9am for around 100 of us but we did have to wait until 11am to get on the ship. We were expecting warm temperatures but not the 37-43 centrigrade we had. We did the Magical Muscat tour and were not disappointed though the time spent at the souk could have been halved. Aqaba we did a private tour to Petra, we did have a few misgivings as our driver was not there to meet us, however he had gone to the wrong ship, thinking that as we were Brits we would be on Queen Mary but the agent soon told him we were on Constellation. What a day, this well exceeded every expectation, the sights magical, the scenery stunning, the people very welcoming. Suez, we thought would be one straight long canal, but how wrong were we, it has bends, lakes and contrasting scenery on the two banks. Mickeylive did a commentary every hour from the bridge and this helped make this a very good day. Most of the ship was wandering around to get various vantage points including the helipad too. Athens we wandered across to Mandraki harbour for a change and Katakolon was a very beautiful village for the day. The crew as usual were brilliant and the food was much improved since our last voyage in January. It is tired looking but as I write this, it is in dry dock for refurbishment Read Less

Boarded the Celebrity Constellation in Abu Dhabi for 16 day cruise to Rome via Suez Canal. The ship is a nice size and as mentioned by other contributor’s a little tired. The ships staff were first class and with the weather hot and sunny made for an excellent cruise. Dining in the San Marco restaurant was good with excellent service. Cannot comment on evening shows as we did not attend. The Martini bar was a good meeting point, the bartenders were excellent being comical with their antics and great service. Well done lads. . The port of Aqaba gave access to Petra and the Wadi Rum.and the journey through the Suez Canal was spectacular. Fellow cruisers were all friendly making this a happy cruise. As I write this review the ship is at Marseille undergoing a 2 week refit. We are looking forward to our next cruise on the Constellation in September. Read Less

To visit Petra in Jordan,The Celebrity Constellation is definately not 5Star ,Modern ,orLuxury as Advertised.the ship is tired throughout .Dining in the San Marco restaurant was slow and dark due to a number of broken and missing lamps, every course ordered took around thirty minutes to arrive, when on the 8.30 sitting most nights it was not unusual to leave after 11.00pm. What is described as a stateroom is just in reality a small cabin with the tiniest of bathroom, (I have a bigger bathroom in my camper.)valances around the bed were torn pieces of metal sticking out around the bed at shin height which were cured by placing pool towels under the mattress and hanging them over the end of the bed (never been in 5star accommodation with this option?) Not a 5Star cruise more like hovering around a THREE. If lots of Tee shirts, shorts and caps on backwards at evening supper is your thing this is the cruise ship for you .why do Celebrity encourage Dinner suits and then welcome guests dressed like hotdog sellers in ?. I have been on many cruises (over 85) and this is the most BORING cruise that I have ever taken. I am VERY disappointed with Celebrity and do not plan to sail them again. Our cruise from Athens to Abu Dhabi had many sea days. I love sea days because there are generally many daytime activities to keep me busy. I am not talking about the junk "seminars" which are actually infomercials to sell you something, I am talking about indoor games and activities such as trivia, tribond, bingo, battle of the sexes, scavenger hunts, name that tune, etc etc. During the sea days there were generally 2 daytime trivias and a name that tune. That's it. NOTHING ELSE. We had hours of down time which I don't like. I like being busy and going from game to game like most cruise lines and most other Celebrity ships offer. Bingo was canceled 3 out of 5 times due to lack of interest. I complained about the lack of game-type activities to Rich, the useless Cruise Director, as well as to Jess, the woman who did most of the trivias. My suggestions and complaints fell on deaf ears. There was really nothing to watch on TV (unless you paid for a movie) or wanted to watch the news (such as CNN or BBC) or Celebrity commercials which took up most of the channels.. They only showed a movie in the lounge once during our 8 sea days. There were some lectures on various topics during the cruise and they were taped and played ad naseum on the cabin TV. I have not been on Celebrity in 5 years and was SHOCKED at how this cruise line has fallen in quality. it is no better than Carnival or Royal Caribbean now. You are always hounded to buy something, the quality of food and service has gone WAY down and you are nickel and dimed at every opportunity. Staff cutbacks show at every turn - there is no longer a cruise staff to organize activities, there is ONE person! There is nobody in the library to organize and shelve books. Cabins used to have 2 people to clean them. Now's there one. Many of the crew speak English poorly and/or they are hard to understand. I also think that a lot of them don't understand English very well. My cabin steward and waiter and busboy are perfect examples of this as well as many crew in the Lido buffet restaurant. A few good things - the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict in the lido buffet restaurant for breakfast was awesome. So were the eggs benedict themselves. The Maitre'd and Headwaiters were very helpful. The price of the cruise was very good. They took our safety very seriously and I think that they even had armed guards on the ship when we were sailing in the Gulf of Aden. The WIFI was a bit expensive but worked very well and fast most of the time. I really appreciated having the speedy WIFI. I am sure that there are many people who took this cruise who enjoyed it but my mother & I certainly did not. Oh well. I did enjoy getting to Petra, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Also, Crete has great shopping! Read Less

We chose this cruise particularly for two reasons: 1 Transit id the Suez Canal 2. Embarkation from Istanbul (and so we could stay there 3 days prior to the cruise to soak up some of the sights of this great city) Our group was three adults - one, my mother had some mobility issues. Unfortunately with the civil unrest in Turkey and the increased risk to tourists the cruise embarked from Athens so we altered our plans and stayed in Doha for two nights and Athens for one prior to the cruise. Our cabin was no different in size than the balcony cabin we have had previously. The differences we noted were: a. Higher cabin location b. No cover over the balcony c. Extremely good service from the Concierge Class room attendant d. Dining for breakfast and dinner in BLU e. Free access to the Persian Garden steam/sauna facility Dining for breakfast and the evening meal in BLU was a pleasure. All the team members in BLU were extremely courteous and just so helpful and of course every meal was a joy to eat. I have one major criticism of this cruise and the previous Celebrity cruise I have recently taken. The extraordinary price charged for a real cup of coffee made by an espresso machine on board. I Australia an espresso is a normal coffee and it tastes like coffee, the dirty water served as coffee is an insult to ones taste buds and stomach. We took shore excursions in Jordan, Oman and Abu Dhabi All were extremely good and worth the expenditure. We did book, on board, a transfer from the port to the airport, at booking we were not given any direction as to the nature of the transfer and where to go to join the transfer. Passing through the port terminal we asked people with CELEBRITY name badges where we how we would board the transfer and were told that our name would be held up by someone outside the terminal. This information was totally incorrect and we discovered that our transfer was via a bus which had already departed. This was the only poor service we experienced with this cruise, but it left a poor taste in our mouths non the less. We ultimately secured a cab to the airport - I think this may have been the best option anyway. We are still waiting upon a communication from Celebrity about this botched transfer and a refund for this cost! Read Less

We are Celebrity frequent cruisers, we liked the itinerary and the dates We spent about 4 nights pre cruise in Santiago--highly recommended! The port is about 2 1/2 hours from Santiago.. We had been on this ship before but not since it was updated. The ship was lovely as was our verandah cabin. Our fellow passengers were a fun mix of Europeans, South Americans and North Americans. We had 2 great Beyond the Podium Speakers--a geologist and a naturalist. We cruised through the Panama Canal with their commentary--very interesting. We stopped in the following ports: : Arica, Chile; Lima ( Callaoe), Peru; Manta, Ecuador, and Curacao in the Caribbean. Sadly we had limited time in Lima since the port was about 45 minutes from Lima and there was a ton of traffic. We were in Manta on Palm Sunday so most places of interest were closed..... We didn't take any shore excursions and did hire a taxi for 3 hours in Lima. Otherwise we just explored on our own which was fine . My Spanish language skills ( which are not that extensive) were put to good use. The food was good to poor The dining room food was better than the buffet---especially for dinner. Breakfast was good in the buffet. We had My Time dining and a reservation was helpful. BUT we never sat with the same waiter and this was a drawback. The ship had an outbreak of rotavirus but it was kept extremely CLEAN. We never got sick but I did wash and/or sanitize my hands frequently. We sailed back to Miami so we only paid for a 1 way flight! ( we live near Tampa). Read Less
