We chose this cruise because of where Connie was taking us, we hadn't been to Colombo, Cochin, Goa, Mumbai, Muscat or Abu Dhabi. (We had been to Phuket and Dubai several times before). After reading many reviews about Connie before, we really didn't know what to expect as there were so many conflicting reviews both good, bad and ugly. So I've decided to write a review on our experience on aboard and Connie in general. Connie herself is in great shape, nice and clean and everything was working on board, with no smells. In regards to activities onboard there were many choose from, but we chose to relax and just take in the sun on sea days and venture out when docked at all the ports. In regards to Shore Excursions we did choose one from the ship, but it turned out terrible so we complained and received a 30% refund. To be fare to the Shore Excursion team it was the tour guide who was terrible not the places we visited. Cabin, WOW we had no idea that it was going to be that BIG, we had an Oceanview Category 4 Stateroom Number 8003 and our cabin attendant was absolutely superb. Dining was easy, we just rocked up and asked to sit with 6 other guests and within a couple of minutes we were seated and every night apart from 2 nights we sat with different guests and the food was great, we tried just about everything they had on the menus, with top service all around. Entertainment on board this cruise was really really good compared to some horror stories we heard, in fact all over the ship the entertainment was good. The Ports, well what can I say they were simply fabulous, Phuket jus simply laid back and just did what we wanted to do that included catching up with friends (using free Wifi of course), Colombo it was a pretty place and would like to go back again and spend more time, Cochin, well we kind of liked it but Goa and Mumbai were much much better and overall we thought India was kind of organised chaos. Muscat was a beautiful city where the mountains reach out and touched the sea and the city and harbour met. Aub Dhabi, did'n really do any thing for us, it looked like another suburb of Abu Dhabi. Now for the best part, on Connie there is this special place called the Martini Bar, we lived there every night of the cruise just meeting the most loverly people you could ever meet from all over the globe and the 4 bar tenders put on the best Martini/Cocktail shows I ever seen, pouring 15 Cocktails in one go, it was simply the best, well done lads. Overall we had a WOW of a time on Connie will be sailing on her again in the very near future. Read Less

We are Celebrity fans having first cruised on Equinox in 2013. We only ever cruise at Christmas and with friends we met on our first cruise. The biggest disappointment was the arrogance of some of the passengers especially with the sunbeams. Now we Brits have a reputation for competing with other europeans for beds around hotel pools in europe but seizing 20 beds at 0630 using 4 towels per bed, smacks of selfishness and arrogance and to top it all, from fellow Brits1 We cruised at Christmas from Abu Dhabi including Goa, Mumbai, Dubai, Sir Bani island and back to Abu Dhabi. Abu dhabi is rather boring, Goa was disappointing, Dubai is impressive but hugely expensive, Sir Bani island (never went ashore) seemed pointless. Why have to wait two ours to be tendered to a beach for a BBQ? We were deck 11 in AquaClass and our cabin attendant was fantastic as were 80% of the crew some, clearly their first contract, need a short sharp shock. Celebrity has a policy of not allowing reservation of sunbeds and if you leave, its 30 minutes or your personal belongings are collected and taken to guest relations. Never happened. Pool butlers seemed either intimidated or were perhaps, getting a little kick back for turning a blind eye. Now I appreciate that there are never enough beds on sea days especially if the weather is hot, but it kind of iritates you knowing you have to hunt for a bed after you've had breakfast and certainly put us and our friends, in a bad mood - not the way to start your day! The ridiculous use of 4 towels per bed, kind of flys in the face of Celebrity's "save the waves" campaign and perhaps should require you to sign for a maximum amount of two towels using your sea pass and return them otherwise, you pay for them. Better policing would also help. We always book AquaClass mainly because Blu restaurant has, in my opinion, the best food on the ship along with a comprehensive and impressive wine list. Neither was obvious in Blu in fact, its probably some of the most mediocre food we have ever had. Celebrity have definetly reduced the selection too, even though we always opt for Premium Drinks Package as opposed to the Classic Drinks Package. I would be replacing executive chef too. Are Celebrity aware of the dozens of potato dishes that can be created rather than has or chips? Or sauces rather than some light hearted attempt to disguise yesterdays with todays? As a former chef, I was deeply frustrated at the lack of culinary skill or imagination AND the bloody lack of potato dishes! Connie is showing her age and any any amount of "refits' makes little difference. She is shabby and unloved and should be scrapped. Going back the Solstice class a in September and then Christmas 2020 - never again on a Millennium Class. Read Less

We selected this cruise based on the interesting itinerary from Rome to Abu Dhabi, including a journey through the Suez Canal and a trip to Petra from Aqaba, Jordan. The ports were all a lot of fun and interesting. Several were easy enough to do on our own. Our time was limited in Catania and Muscat, so I wish we were there for more hours. The cruise was long with many sea days, but we enjoyed the different activities the Celebrity Constellation offered. I wish they would vary the timing of activities from day to day so we could do more. For instance, if you decide to participate in trivia, it's at the same time daily and often conflicts with several other things on the schedule. Also, the schedule is packed from 10am-3pm, but not much going on in the late afternoon. While the Constellation is an older ship, it didn't feel old and they've done a good job keeping it updated. We found our cabin comfortable and the ship easy to get around. The food in the Oceanview Cafe was great for breakfast and lunch, offering a wide variety. We also enjoyed access to ice cream and cookies in the afternoon. We had great service by a couple of different waiters in the main dining room (a few not so great servers). For the most part, the food was good, but not great. We had a few misses. The entertainment was predictable but enjoyable. The production cast and musicians were very good, and we liked the theme nights in the Reflections lounge in the late evening. Read Less

We flew into Abu Dhabi for a 2 night stay before the cruise to Rome through the Suez Canal. We had an ocean view and thoroughly enjoyed the stateroom. We enjoyed the facilities on the ship. The entertainment in the theatre was good to excellent. I suppose it depends what your personal preferences are. We enjoyed eating the excellent food in the MDR, meeting new people and listening to their adventures. We won a meal in the Italian restaurant. It was very good. We met up with people to do the trivia and had good fun. We called in at Muscat in Oman, we just had a walk along the waterfront. We did a trip to Petra from Aqaba, Jordan, it was amazing. A must do trip, even though it was not cheap. We sailed through the Suez Canal without a narration onboard. This was disappointing. Also when we entered the Mediterranean there was no mention of the event!!! We called into Athens and got the Ho-Ho bus to the Acropolis. A very worthwhile trip. After seeing the sights at the Acropolis we got back on the bus and did a city tour. We got the admission halfprice into the Acropolis because we are seniors and proof we were EU citizens. We then called in to Katakolon. This is a lovely beachside resort. Bars and restaurants facing the sea, tourist shops in the street behind. We got the train to Olympia, we also got halfprice admission to the museum and Olympic site. We ended the cruise in Rome, after 15 nights. We have been on this ship before and found some of the changes ie no happy hour, the changes in the casino plus the prizes won for trivia were disappointing. Read Less

Chose this cruise for the itinerary, and it did not disappoint, nor did the cruise ship, all very good. All staff had a very positive and willing attitude. The ship's officers were always visible and this seemed to have an impact everywhere. An excellent example was the Hotel Director, Helen, whom we seemed to bump into every day. The ship was clean and seemed well maintained, all public spaces were constantly being cleaned. Our cabin steward was great as were all the bar and dining staff. Just wish that the dinner menu could have been better, as well as several of the entertainers that were brought onboard were not very good. The exception was the Ship's band and the production shows. The gym and sauna were well used and we enjoyed the Solarium where we could find seats most of the time. Also we were frequent users of the aft bar and dining area on Deck 11. Would recommend! We chose the cruise based on itinerary as it was amazing value for the ports we were visiting and neither of us had even been to Asia. However, I will admit to booking onto Constellation with a little trepidation having previously cruised on larger & newer ships (P&O Britannia and MSV Divina). We arranged our own flights and hotel pre-cruise taking advantage of New Year sales and flew to Singapore on British Airways arriving the day before embarkation and stayed in The Scarlett in Chinatown which was a superb base. We then spent the day sightseeing around Marina Bay on electric scooters (a must do!), including a cheeky charge up and down the F1 pitlane, before taking an Uber to the Cruise Terminal. Embarkation at Singapore was straightforward with no queues, although we were a little disappointed that the photo opportunities had already been packed up having pre-paid for the photo package. However, that disappointment aside, we were through check-in and on ship within about 20 minutes. Once aboard we headed to the Atrium and took advantage of waitress service and our drinks package to order our first cocktail, a Singapore Sling of course! :D Constellation departed on-time and we watched the sail-away from the Sunset Bar at the aft. All our pre-cruise doubts about sailing on Constellation were immediately dispelled once we took a hour or so to explore her. We found her to be extremely well maintained and decorated, and despite being nearly 50% smaller that previous ships we'd sailed on, if anything there was a feeling of more space. Our initial cabin was an inside on deck 9 forward (9015) which was a fantastic quiet location, only spoiled by a problem with our toilet which eventually led to us having to move to an Ocean View on deck 3 (3126). Whilst being a fabulous cabin in a great position midship, benefitting from a massive window as it used to be part of the conference centre, there was a low rumbling noise which we found disturbing for the first couple of night having come from such a quiet location. We had traditional dining at the later sitting of 8:30pm and were sat on a table of eight with some other British couples. Both the company and service was great and we did not have any complaints regarding the food which was excellent throughout. We never ate main meals in the Ocean View Café buffet restaurant however breakfasts and lunches there were all excellent always with fresh food available. We also ate in the specialty restaurant Qsine twice, once complimentary as a result of our cabin move, and once paying, and found it to be an excellent innovative experience with simply stunning food that you wanted to eat too much of! We can’t wait to go back! Entertainment would be the only minor point of gripe, with shows that were not really of the same standard to those on previous cruises. However, we did find that the Silent Disco Celebrity put on at the Martini Bar on selected nights was excellent and really they should do it somewhere every night!! Our other issue was towards the end of the cruise when the main late-night venue Reflections was closed for a staff party all night forcing us to move to the much more sedate and earlier closing Rendezvous Lounge. Credit to Celebrity though as after a little discussion, a DJ was put on after the House Band finished and the bar kept open until 1am for us. We found the Shore Excursions provided via Celebrity to be of a very good standard and well organised and would certainly use them again. Disembarkation in Abu Dhabi took a little longer than previous experiences and luggage collection in the terminal building was more haphazard. However it was completed without incident and we had a great day hiring a car and visiting Ferrari World before heading to the airport for our return flight to the UK that evening. Overall it was a great cruise on a fabulous ship, which left us with a very positive impression of both Celebrity and Constellation. So much so that we have another cruise booked in May aboard “Connie” in the Mediterranean! Read Less

The itinerary of this cruise is good, but affected by the closure of open decks in the hours of darkness for three nights while passing through the Gulf of Aden. The Blu restaurant exclusive to Aqua passengers was excellent entirely as expected, with an excellent maitre D. The buffet cafeteria standard of food was poor and bland. Often food was awkward to even reach due to the layout of the food bars. Staff in bars often stood about chatting among themselves rather than attending to guests. 18% service charge on every onboard purchase is outrageous, especially in bars on board where service is poor. Some of the deck bars were closed at times when they should have been open. The Aqua class stateroom while adequate, was looking rather tired. Worn furniture and rather small on Celebrity Constellation. Our cabin steward however, was outstanding. Advised that Celebrity cruises were definitely 5star, I’d say definitely not! Read Less

New places to visit and new cultures to experience. The ports of call were excellent and the time in its port adequate for the tours planned. The crew was good for the most part although attention to detail was lacking. The ship was clean and the housekeeping did a great job. The Hotel manager was visible but not engaged. The Staff Captain did a great job keeping the crew doing their duties as needed. The food in the Buffet was almost always cold and the fruits not ripe. The ship shows its age being the oldest in the Millennium class and needs refurbishing which i heard that it is scheduled soon. The cruise director and his staff was very good, the different games and shows were well planned and executed. The guest relations Manager was not visible and her staff needs more training. The two exceptions were Daniela the events coordinator and Rose the Captain's Club hostess that did an outstanding job. Read Less

the itinerary was very very interesting. the staff in general were very nice on board. some staff were very friendly while others were not whereas on a holland ship all staff are friendly. they also responded quickly when things were brought to their attention. the food was very good, portion sizes were just right. The buffet should be designed better as to traffic flow. the reflection lounge was closed too often for private functions . The Connie is a nice size ship to travel on. The ships entertainment was excellent especially the production shows. The dancers and singers were all very very good. The any time dining seemed at times a bit chaotic to get a table so advance reservations are the best option. Once seated dining is very pleasurable, not hurried not rushed and very attentive. The meal presentation was also very good. Vegetarian options were plentiful and creative. This itinerary is well worth doing if it is offered in 2018. Read Less

We were somewhat concerned about boarding a 15 year old ship and also about dining and entertainment due to our most recent experience on a Celebrity ship (on that occasion we had just completed a cruise on HAL where the food was outstanding...). Well, the ship was in a very good shape, food at the main dining room and at the cafeteria was never disappointing, and the entire staff lived up to the Constellation reputation. From embarkation to disembarkation everything ran smoothly. Entertainment was generally ok with some high points (mainly the comedians) and quite varied. Shore excursions were well managed although sometimes overly expensive. Select dining was managed nicely, only once did we (four of us) have to wait for a table. Our stateroom attendant was particularly attentive and efficient. Internet service was fine... outside of peak usage times (you'll have to figure this one out on specific cruises), The only downside is Celebrity's pricing model which makes all the extras bust any budget you may have. From internet pricing to laundry to specialty restaurants and specialty coffee, prices have all skyrocketed over the recent past. Celebrity must review this and offer better value for "basic cruisers". Read Less

We chose this cruise for its itinerary, which ended with the F1 . The check in was chaotic, but once on-board that was soon forgotten. Our cabin was at the rear of the ship with a large balcony, this was ideal for our cruising through the Suez canal, offering panoramic views. My personal opinion is that some excursions were over priced but I know others on-board were happy with them. Entertainment was good and varied. No problems with the sunbed but think that was more down to the demographics of passengers. We enjoyed the dining in the main dining room and requested the same location every night as we had an amazing waiter. On previous Celebrity cruises we've struggled to find somewhere to sit at Cafe Al Balcio, this time we never had a problem and enjoyed a coffee while watching the world go by. Would highly recommend this itinerary. Read Less

Celebrity is our cruise line of choice! We love Aqua Class staterooms and what comes with it ... especially dining in the Blu. The Persian Gardens on this ship is very small and not as open as on the Solstice Ships, but there for your use. We chose this particular cruise for the itinerary. It was a "repositioning" cruise so did not come with all the perks that other cruises do, but the price was excellent. We found the Constellation to be friendly, never any crowds or lineups and a great mix of passengers from all over the world. The food on this ship was very good. We dined in all the restaurants during our 15 nights on this ship and enjoyed everyone of the restaurants. The Blu & The Tuscan are our favourites. An activity that we really enjoyed is the "Silent Disco" at the Martini Bar. This is alot of fun, made for many laughs and a good time. Be sure to try it out if you see it listed as an activity on your ship. We would travel on the Constellation again if the itinerary was what we were interested in. Read Less

As you are obvoiusly only looking for positive reviews to put on Cruise Critic I won't bother wasting my time describing the couldn't care less attitude of the staff, the drunken neighbours who we were told to put up with and the security staff who never bothered turning up on the penultimate night when this couple started arguing late at night. By this time both my wife and I had been quarantined in our room because of a virus we picked up on the ship. I lost one stone in weight the time we were aboard. On our flight back to Manchester from Rome many other passengers who we recognised as being on the same cruise had the dry hacking cough that characterised our virus. Virus may have been due to electricians replacing cables on level six for pretty much all the cruise, the vents in the ceiling being constantly open. The electricians were provided with masks. This is rated as a 5-star ship - it barely approaches a 3-star, no wonder it needs a refurbishment! I would suggest a total makeover or sending it to the scrape yard. Some of the negatives: Too few restaurant staff and mainly very inexperienced when it comes to customer service No self service laundry facilities Library is a misnomer - should be entitled a closet with a glass wall and virtually no books present Ship is dirty overall Food is substandard Cabin stewards are down to one per cabin and far too many cabins for them to service in a timely manner Disembarkation was ridiculous. We were called to leave the ship 1.5 hours BEFORE our transfer was to leave dockside....we ended up standing around for that length of time when we could have been onboard drinking our morning coffee! Daily activities were mainly concentrated on selling stuff - need a major overhaul of the so-called social activities If this is the Celebrity ship standard, you can count me out - would not sail with them again. The ports visited. The crew were very friendly. The food at times was fine. Embarkation in Abu Dhabi was a shambles. Some show were excellent others very amateurish. Not sure I use Celebrity again. Money making in your face constantly. Don't agree with the high tipping system. About time cruise lines paid a fair wage and not expect clients to pay the wages by tipping. Not a great range of shops on the ship. It was looking very tired and needing a face lift. The Windows in all public areas were never cleaned.couldnt see out of the dining room at the the stern and the Oceanview you couldn't take a photo from the inside due to filthy glass.other ships we travelled on always were cleaning the outside when in port. Maybe the newer Celebrity ships offer more things to do. The live speakers were very interesting but greatly overlapped each other. Read Less

15 mins within arriving we were onboard and lunching in the MDR.The dining staff were always attentive at both MDR or oceanview. 'DAISY' was one of the assistant waiters who always had a smile or cuddle. The food was of good quality. My husband got more than his share of seafood everyday. Our room always smelled of bleach which told us it was kept clean. We refused the daily fruit to our room(cONCIERGE). There was plenty of fruit, yoghurt and yummy ice cream in oceanview to consume. We chose this cruise for the unusual ports to see. We had the most wonderful speakers onboard that gave us the history and what we were going to see on our voyage. "Mickey"gave us info throughout the passage of the suez canal. This was the highlight for us. We started to watch the entry in the early hours right thru the day until we exit. What a great day for all. "Mickey" made a dvd to purchase at the end of the cruise. This was a collection of photos from "cruisers"of what they saw on this trip. Worth every penny. The shows were really good. We appreciated the work that the dancers must put in to give us a great performance.CONNIE" was our 2nd celeb cruise and it won't be our last. Thanks again CELEBRITY for a enjoyable, interesting and safe trip. Traveling on the Celebrity, Constellation was truly enjoyable. One major compliment is "how clean they managed to keep and shine the ship" which made us feel safe from catching any dreaded deceases or cold. The crew was terrific and the service was wonderful and we couldn't have had a better experience. We met several people doing a back to back and we were wishing we had planned to continue rather than going home. We met several great people that we will continue to communicate with. The tours that we took were well organized and made it easy to see the highlights of the cities without standing in too many lines.
