The Constellation is definitely worthy of its # 1 rating in Conde' Nast Traveler, from the time I boarded the ship till I left I was impressed and my faith in Celebrity renewed. I had been on The Mercury back in March (see my review I understand it has been fixed) and came away with a very bad taste, however The Connie certainly made those feelings just a foggy memory. Boarding at Cape Liberty was the smoothest I had ever seen, from the time I stepped out of my cab till I was on the ship was less than 30 minutes. After my glass of "bubbly" I was on my way to my stateroom on deck 8. Having sailed on The Summit, sister ship, I know all the shortcuts and the layout of the ship. The Constellation was in fine shape, oh to be sure there were a few signs of wear here and there, but the entire cruise the maintenance staff was very visible painting, cleaning etc. My cabin, inside, was fine spacious with lots of storage space always is great shape and well attended to by the cabin staff. Dining on the ship was as expected, excellent with several new items on the and a good variety each and every night. I did notice that Celebrity had cut back from 4 to 3 shrimp in the shrimp cocktail, but that was easily solved by ordering two, which after the first night my waiter made sure that I had two each night in addition to another appetizer. Celebrity also has cut back on the number of dessert offerings, which is fine with me as I do not really care for the extremely sweet desserts, HOWEVER their cheesecake was outstanding. One thing Celebrity does well is beef, I had beef dishes several nights and they were extremely good and done as I prefer. As usual Celebrity had a variety of soup offerings, I still pass on the chilled soups, but the cream soups were excellent. The buffet offerings were varied and some better than others, personal taste, but I noted that breakfast now has Traditional American and English sides, I was quite pleased to see Eggs Benedict on the buffet line. I usually vary between the eggs (omelet) made to order, regular buffet, and the waffle station, this trip was no exception. The only down side I saw was coffee, it was terrible in the buffet but excellent in the dining room. I heard that Celebrity was trying out a new blend, I hope they ditch that. A bit disappointing to me was the beverage dispensers, several were broken, but I assume that they came with the ship and were going to be replaced. I did note several times during my cruise a person with a "Cruise Critic" tee shirt, now I had to wonder if this person was trying for special treatment or what, I felt that it was in poor taste. The entertainment was for the most part very good with the production numbers done extremely well and the Celebrity Orch. did a fine job with some very difficult pieces. One night they were even on stage in a production number causing me to give them a big thumbs up! I did walk out on one show, however, that being Perry Grant when he played in the Celebrity Theatre. I felt that he was trying to do a Liberace imitation and did not have the talent to pull it off. One other single act was Judy Kolba, she was very funny and got the audience involved in her show. One thing she did that was extremely funny was when a gentleman came into the show late, she did an instant fast forward replay of her show to that point, it had the audience rolling in the aisles. The cruise was excellent, the ship very nice and the crew friendly and helpful. The "Connie" is a must sail! Read Less
