Must start by saying that we have sailed with Celebrity 3 times prior to our sailing on the Constellation and each experience in the past has been fantastic. This was our 4th Celebrity cruise in a 12 month period. Had it been our first it would most likely have also been our last. We sailed on the Constellation on a quick 2 night-er (January 19 and 20) out of Miami as a follow up to our week on the Reflection (January 12 - 19). The difference in our experience was so drastic we wondered if both ships were operated by the same company (see my review on our Reflection experience on the Reflection reviews page - we love that ship). Having only sailed on Solstice class ships in the past we expected the Constellation to be an older and 'dated' ship. While the style and layout of the Constellation was not to our taste (lots of dark wood, not a lot of windows in public areas, very low ceilings), this was to be expected for an older ship. However, the maintenance of the ship was something that we felt could use a lot of improvement. It seemed very run down - tears in carpets, ripped and stained bed skirts, lots of rust on balconies and public railings, lumpy and caved in beds, poor quality linens, and sheets that did not fit the full length of the bed were only a few of the things that surprised us. We also found that cleanliness on the ship was not a top priority (when we entered our stateroom for the first time there was old pieces of fruit and red wine stains in the sink, long dark hairs on our bathroom floor, and carpets in public areas didn't seem to be vacuumed often). However, our major issue was with the the lack of customer service and attention to detail during the whole cruise. In most cases, the staff just seemed to not care. With the exception of the main dining room, we found the level of service terrible. It seemed the ship was severely understaffed and those that were 'serving' did not want to be there. Officers and 'managers' were also noticeably absent on this cruise. On the Reflection there was a strong officer (and captain) presence at all times. I don't think we saw one office in our 2 days and we did not see or hear from the captain at all (no morning announcements). We were told that the prior cruise had been a charter and it seemed the following cruise was also going to be a charter as staff spent the bulk of our 2 days prepping for the next cruise. They were putting up posters all over the ship with the name of the company that was coming on board...this was more a focus for them that tending to the needs of the guests that were actually on board. It didn't seem right that often there were no clean glasses at the beverage stations, no ice in the ice machines, and you'd have to wait 15 minutes for service at a bar while you could see staff putting up these posters everywhere. Must also note that the muster drill was concerning as on previous ships this has been a high priority. During the drill there was no safety video presentation and no demonstration by staff on how to put on life jackets. We went to our muster station (which was packed, not enough seats, people sitting of floors), checked in, sat for 15 minutes, and then were dismissed. Had we not been on other ships we would have been completely in the dark about what to do in the "unlikely event of an emergency". Disembarkation was very frustrating. We were given no information beforehand - were told as it was just a 2 day cruise they didn't give info or luggage tags. We were to carry our own luggage off. Only got 1 customs card - asked for another and told "only 1 per stateroom if you need more go find your stateroom attendant". We finally found out that our time to disembark was 9am. Disembarkation morning there were no announcements. We went down to the gangplank at 9:15 figuring it was time to get off and waited 45 minutes in a huge line before we were able to get off. A little communication would have gone a long way here. Overall this was not a good cruise for us. The ship is very dated and not well maintained and the level of service is far different from all of our other experiences with Celebrity. This was disappointing. They bill themselves as "modern luxury", but we do not feel the Constellation was either modern or luxurious. Read Less

We booked an Aqua Class stateroom that was supposed to have an unobstructed view. The entire cruise we viewed this huge metal item that should have moved to clean windows, but never moved once. So every scenery picture has this big metal object. We might as well paid less and had a balcony with a lifeboat in from of it. Waste of money for us to have paid extra for this room. This class entitled us to the Blu restaurant. We have been on other ships that have the Blu restaurant and loved it so we went for the extra bucks and booked it on this ship. Huge waste of money. HUGE! Breakfast took more than an hour of sitting in our seats waiting for service. I mostly ordered oatmeal and most of the times was told they are out or waited the hour for them to run up to the buffet to get it. Every day my husband and I ordered tomato juice instead of the usual offerings that they had on their trays. That seemed to be an issue. The first day looking at the waiter was like deer in the headlights look he gave back to us. Also took close to an hour to locate. He even had to run to the bar to get it. We don't like cubes in our juice so we were served warm juice every single day. The next 8 morning were pretty much a repeat of the first as if they didn't get that we wanted tomato juice and we were going to ask for it every morning. Every morning without fail the creme poured into the coffee would curdle and it did so for the next 8 mornings. They had to remove the curdled coffee and replace it every single day, never learning their lesson from the prior day. The same people were always visibly surprised every time it happened. Dinner was worse. 2+ hours from the time we were seated to actually being served. The food was not bad, but nothing better than I get at home, certainly not the standards we usually have enjoyed in the past on Celebrity. The biggest complaint is the seating. We travel to get away from it all and to be with each other, not nasty unhappy people that make small talk and never to be seen again. If we want to make friends we would book a big table and sit with others. We don't. The tables for 2 are really tables for 4 as they are a mere inch apart, forcing you to be friendly and converse with your table mates that were forced on you by this seating arrangement. The buffet was horrid. Every day we tried to have lunch but could not stomach whatever it was they were trying to serve. Most days I survived on cheese and an apple. For Celebrity, it was the worst buffet I have ever experienced. The Solstice ships have such a wonderful buffet that many times we preferred that over a sit down restaurant experience. Not on this ship. Pure slop! We did get to experience a meal in the Ocean Liners restaurant and I highly recommend it. It was a true dining "experience" with a great menu and outstanding service. Also, real table for couples that want to be with each other and no one else. Outstanding experience. Sadly, this was our only highlight on the entire cruise. We were on a gay and lesbian cruise without prior knowledge and we do not fall into that category. We should have been warned in advance. It was an awful experience, not one I wish to repeat. This group got a huge discount while the rest of us paid the normal, non discount price. Totally unfair, considering they had the run of the ship and we were stuck in our rooms. The staff in uniform that were walking around the ship were friendly, made sure they did not pass us without acknowledging us. The ship was clean, the rooms were clean. The Waite and bar staff were all angry and unhappy about something and it showed. I felt at any moment there was going to be a revolution on the ship. We have been on over 40 cruises and this is the first one that I wanted to just get off and fly home and be done with it. Maybe we cruise Celebrity too much as the shows are all the same. Jayne Curry, the English comedian was funny the first time and almost as funny the 2nd time, but now its the 5th time and in all these years she hasn't changed her act, her stories, her songs one bit. Even on the elevator the other guests were saying the same thing, boring, and predictable. Get new acts or tell the old timers to freshen it up to new stuff! We have cruised Celebrity quite a bit, in fact we are a Captain's Club Elite Member, so I have a lot of Celebrity experiences to compare this cruise ship to. This ship needs a new manager or all new staff. It does not hold up to Celebrity standards at all. I couldn't be more disappointed and hope that this is not a sign of what is to come from this cruise line. Unfortunately we already long ago booked another cruise on this exact same ship for May to do the Adriatic Sea. As badly as I want to do that itinerary, I am strongly considering pulling out for fear of being on this ship with the same staff and receiving the bad food, bad shows and bad service all over again. Already a huge waste of money out of my pocket the first time, hate to be stupid twice. I filled out the online cruise form they send when you get off the ship and expressed most of what is in this review with no acknowledgment afterwards. Either they don't bother to read what is sent or they just don't care. I have since sent an actual letter to the main office in Miami but not enough time has passed for me to truly say I am being ignored. Beware of this ship! Read Less

We had chosen celebrity as we were under the Impression they had the best most Morden ships that catered towards adults, and a focus on well being etc How wrong we where. Its full of children and the ship is so old and run down it was just so naff. You will not get a seat by the pool st any point during your stay and even if you did it will be ruined by screaming children and awful singers and party games. You’ll be charged 18% on every single bill, no matter how long it takes them to bring what ever you’ve asked for, which will most likely come wrong or cold The buffet restaurant is a absolutle zoo, you’ll be lucky to find a table let alone a clean one. The San Marco restaurant is trying to be 5^ food wise but it just isn’t the food is missing something, it’s not that it’s totally bland it just isn’t good enough for the price of the cruise. The ship needs some serious maintenance, paint all over every window in the restaurant and dreadful 80s decor. There’s nothing to do but drink and shop, and at every stage they will try to flog you something, usually a over priced Rolex or a photo package The tours are all over priced by 4x at least. We got a taxi transfer for €15 and celebrity wanted €60 each! You get around 8 hours in port if you get off the boat at 7 and return at the last on board time of 4ish The entertainment is quite good but very cruise ship, think singers who couldn’t make it past the live stages of X factor The other activities are all over priced, £39 to play bingo EACH! Everywhere is full of fat rude Americans which just makes matters worse. Awful holiday and I will never return. Read Less
