We stayed in Fort Lauderdale 2 1/2 days prior to sailing. It was nice to get used to sunshine and warm temperatures again. We walked around a lot and also explored the city by the water taxi. Highly recommendable.

What an adventure! Our trip began in Tallahassee on December 7 as we drove to Ft. Lauderdale. We stayed at the Marriot Residency Inn in Dania Beach (a 10-minute drive to the port). A lovely, clean, well-laid out ship. Most of the service was excellent, althogh the restaurants were quite a bit slower than usual. Hopefully this was due to the strain of the remodeling being done in the main dining room -costing five hundred seats while giving suite guests priority specialty access. I was tempted to give only 3 stars but because all of our disappointments had to do with being in an "upper" suite I thought it was only fair to stick with 4. Im sure if we hadn't been paying $1,600 PER NIGHT we wouldn't have been so disappointed.

Celebrity is my cruise line because of the perks I get from Captains Club elite level. We have been on Celebrity 14 times over the years. I took my daughter on this cruise to celebrate her upcoming marriage and my birthday. The average person on the cruise was retired and seemed to want a more staid environment. There were few children on board.

Enjoyed the night before the cruise in South Beach almost as much as the port of calls. South Beach felt like it was in a South American.
