We were looking for a longer cruise, and the possibility of a Trans-Atlantic and Europe (a first for me, not my Honey). We tend to look at Celebrity first for the balance and class - I can get a waterslide anywhere.

Overall, we were extremely disappointed in the Celebrity cruise experience. This experience was strongly affected by the meals onboard.

The ship, although old, had a classics feel to it. Loved the way the Oceanview Café’s food stations are broken up, thus reducing congestion. The food there and in the main dining room was excellent. Probably the best we ever had on a ship. The specialty restaurants were not frequented well probably because of that.

On our last cruise we experienced a further deterioration on value on Celebrity cruises. Since last September, our last cruise on the same ship, beverage packages allowances have been altered drastically. With the standard liquor package no more cappuccinos and fresh juices are allowed. It seems much has changed since my last voyage on Celebrity. I’ve probably done a half dozen or more voyages with X over the years, and along with HAL considered it my favorite line. We choose this cruise because it was a Transatlantic one and it stopped in six ports, 4 in Spain and 2 in Portugal. Everything about this cruise was just fantastic. We had heard that the ship was dated and ready to be renovated, but we saw no evidence of that. Everything was exceptionally well-kept, and our service from all of the staff was impeccable.

We boarded the ship in Ft Lauderdale and it was quick and easy. Our Concierge Cabin mid-ship on Deck 8 was a reasonable size, clean and comfortable with plenty of storage for our clothes and luggage. Our cabin steward, as usual, provided excellent service. The Atlantic crossing was so smooth you really didn't know you were moving.
