Apex vs. Reflection: A Tale of Two Crossings
"I will begin by saying that the Reflection had been my favorite Celebrity ship and I came on board the Apex skeptical that its new features would impress me; and the truth is, some did and some did not so much. But on Apex’s upper decks, the restrictive “Retreat” area designed exclusively for suite passengers blocks hoi polloi like me from walking directly to the fitness center in the front of the ship on Deck 15...."Read More

Apex vs. Reflection: A Tale of Two Crossings

Review for Celebrity Apex to Transatlantic

I am an Elite-Plus passenger which means I’m a veteran of many Celebrity cruises, so I know whereof I speak. I am writing this review while crossing the Atlantic on Celebrity’s Apex, a trip which because of Covid had been postponed at least twice. It is my first sailing on an Edge-class ship. I have taken transatlantic cruises before aboard the Reflection and I will confine my comments about ...

Infinite balcony

We love celebrity cruises. The food is great, the service is awesome. However I am not a balcony. It is basically just a room extension with a window which is locked several times by the captain. Also when you open the window the air-conditioning goes off so the entire room gets humid even with the little doors closed. It is not the same as having a balcony at all. It does afford more privacy and ...

APEX

YES! The infinite veranda is disappointing and a bust! A marketing gimmick promoted by poor design! The cabin is much smaller, narrower and shorter than Celebrity standard balconies on other ships. Extremely disappointing cabin: claustrophobic. I have loved Celebrity for many year until this new ship: the APEX. The infinite cabin is a marketing trick to sell claustrophobic cabins! Although The ...

Beautiful ship, terrible entrees in non-fee restaurants, Covid cases onboard

We chose this cruise because we love Celebrity Cruise line. We have had to cancel at least 4 cruises due to Covid. We had to prove vaccination and boosters prior to boarding, plus do a Covid test 48 hours prior to boarding. Upon boarding the Apex, we were given a piece of paper telling us there had been Covid cases onboard the previous sailing. If we had received this information 48 hours ...

Great cruise, nice ship, horrible internet

Day 10 of Transatlantic cruise on the Apex. Awesome entertainment and Rockumentary is the most awesome show we’ve seen in 30 cruises. Internet services resembling dial up modems of the 90s at best, or many times not at all. This is a transatlantic cruise and any help that has been requested has been extremely evasive and frustrating. It’s hard to enjoy a cruise with this many sea days with this ...

My rating is based on value for money. We had 2 Infinite Balcony Cabins that came with Drinks, Wifi, and Gratuities. This was our tenth anniversary, and we were also travelling with my mother who was reuniting with her family in Holland after 3 years of, well you know... What was good... Eden Restaurant - 5 star menu, service, sommelier, and atmosphere, consistently Martini Bar ...

We first sailed Apex in March with three Sky Suites for a family cruise to the western Caribbean. We had a great time. Fast forward six weeks later: 14 Day Transatlantic cruise to Amsterdam from Fort Lauderdale. We love transatlantic repositioning cruises because of the many days at sea. We wanted a ship the size of Apex for a crossing, but the seas cooperated and were FLAT for the entire ...

Very nice ship—some changes are not so good

Love Luminae and Retreat so booked a suite. Ship is beautiful. Cabin large. The Retreat was great…living room layout with bar, snacks and concierge. Outdoor deck well thought out with bar, covered areas and food service. Luminae is very large and less intimate. Menu had its moments: halibut, eggplant parm 5 star, trout with eel sauce, not so much. Service was either excellent or terrible, ...

Beautiful Ship but Lacking In Some Areas

Review for Celebrity Apex to Transatlantic

The Apex is a beautiful ship, but it has short comings in some key areas important to onboard life. First is the infinite balcony. Yes it adds space to the cabin but it has too many design flaws. You can't open the window without shutting down your AC, and when you sit in the chairs and look out, there is a broad metal bar in the middle of your view. Cabins were good with good storage. Our ...

Overall, we really enjoyed this cruise. We have never booked a transatlantic cruise, so this was a first for us. We sailed with about 1200 guests due to COVID restrictions, all US passport holders. Smooth sailing for 2 weeks and the service was extraordinary. Ship is new and spectacular! Ports were very restrictive due to Covid, masks required everywhere for the first week and then, after negative ...
