Our first cruise in 30 years and had a great experience overall. We were dropped off at the port terminal and an attendant checked our bags immediate. We went through check-in with only a 5 minute wait and were in our stateroom within 15 minutes of arriving at the port. The ship is absolutely gorgeous! The terracing/ layered effect in the martini bar is awesome and the chandelier is beautiful. I almost didn't go on this cruise but I'm glad I did! There was a last minute cancelation which allowed this to happen. The Ascent is beautiful and modern. Was in Sky suite, first time in suite have been on many cruises, and I’m not going back. Beyond is a beautiful ship, it does creak and make lots of noise.
