This is our second Celebrity Cruise in the Retreat. The first one sold us on the incremental expense and this one was discouraging. The primary concern was the service. Bar service was slow or non-existent where we had to get our own drinks. Cabin was not thoroughly cleaned between cruises and was not typically cleaned till late morning.
We did enjoy the theme restaurants where the food ...
I just returned from a week on the Apex with my spouse and friends. This was our first Celebrity cruise and it will be my last. We had an Aqua Class cabin which essentially is the same room as the others with different amenities such as complimentary fitness passes and access to the thermal suites. You also have your own restaurant, Blu, for breakfast and dinner. Blu was the highlight of the trip. ...
Deck 11, Incredibly noisy in good weather, intolerably so in wind. Weather was not good for this sailing (Dec 24), but I can only compare it to heavy items being slid across our ceiling and then dropped. This cabin is on the back of the ship with a beautiful view... A real balcony, as we don't do the infinite verandas. We were expecting that we might experience more motion due to the location, but ...
Background about me:
- Avid cruiser, family does a cruise around once a year for the past 25 years, so I have been on a LOT of ships. Celebrity specifically, have been on 5+ ships.
Cabin: 8/10
Pros: Infinite veranda was beautiful and surprisingly spacious! The blackout curtains were unreal. Our cabin steward was incredible. Great sound protection from voices/neighbors.
Cons: By far the ...
The summit has a great overall look, until you look closely. There were a lot of smaller issues that appeared to have been overlooked, resulting in a not so great overall experience. The food was a highlight, with great food and service in the main dinning room (Cosmopolitan Restaurant). The concierge staff, guest services staff, shop staff, and casino staff were all fantastic. The live music was ...
I have taken several cruises on Celebrity and Celebrity Beyond but this cruise was a Big disappointment. The checkin was smoothed and the Sunset Veranda Sky Suite was an excellent room. But the great quality food that Celebrity has been know for in the past was subpar. The food in Ocenview was just average at best but the beverage service was a miss. Fewer staff and no service. The few times we ...
I’m too late submitting my review to Celebrity, so I thought I’d post here. I took my first Celebrity Cruise this month (Dec ‘23) and I had preconceived notions it would be classy, if not a bit too much. I found the ship to be a smaller, lovely, dated ship, with plenty of fun and relaxation. There was ample things to do or not do, depending on your mood.
My biggest disappointment that will ...
This was the second time on Celebrity and definitely the last. We chose this line because of the date and the itinerary to ABC islands. We booked into the RETREAT due to my husband's disabilities and were very disappointed. We had hoped for more easy access to the Retreat lounge, dining room and sundeck but we had to wait for long periods of time waiting for elevators that were empty enough to ...
Celebrity cruises are not a premium or 5 star line despite what they try to claim. Having many cruises since the late seventies, aboard many different lines and ships, I can honestly state that today Celebrity is just another mass market line hiding behind their old reputation. First off, if you smoke do not even think of sailing with them, unless you enjoy being treated like a third world ...
This was our first Celebrity cruise, and only our fourth overall. We chose it largely based on Celebrity's reputation for service and dining. Our previous cruises have been Holland America Statendam to Alaska (1995), Norwegian EPIC to the Eastern Caribbean (2013) and Disney Magic to the Bahamas (2015). Both the NCL and Disney cruises were with our kids as a family of four. The first and and last ...
