This may have been the first near-capacity cruise that Celebrity Apex has had since its introduction and unfortunately it showed. The crew, though friendly and professional, appeared to be stretched thin. Service was slow in the MDRs and the food in the main buffet was below par. The biggest issue was the fact that Celebrity did not enforce the Covid rules they said they were going to ...
We chose this cruise as friends had been on it
Before and said how good it was. Having done many previous cruises with Royal Caribbean, Princess, P&O, Carnval and the first ever withThomson (Tui-now Marella), I was expecting exciting things: believing that Celebrity were the 5* cruise line (out of the Carnival owned ships). Currently onboard and whilst aspects of the cruise are good, there are ...
Well it sure was'nt the carribbean...lol. It was a sedate crowd with very little to do on sea days. The shows at night were very good and plenty of seating with 50% occupancy on the ship. The main dining room food was hit or miss and some of the meat was very tough. Eden was fabulous with excellent food and service. Steakhouse also very good. We should not have to pay extra for a nice dinner. ...
I've previously sailed on the Equniox and thought it a much better ship. The Apex was beautiful, but not enough common areas to hang out to read a book or gather at a table to play a game. No promenade, no library, no ice bar. 14 decks compared to 19 on the Equinox, seems they took away common area for rooms. I appreciate we were only at 50% capacity, otherwise it would have been impossible to ...
This was a cruise we had to take because of a canceled cruise that went to St Peters berg. Nice ship, stores geared to high end travelers only. Necessities were very limited in the small shop with them and they were out of tooth paste and other items. The food selection in the buffet was OK but lacked variety. Specialty restaurants were not nearly as good as previous cruises. We have cruised on ...
Cruise chosen to celebrate anniversaries and booked two and half years ago and delayed regarding COVID. Main reason was to sail to St Petersburg.
Embarkation was a dream with one thousand and fifty passengers. More crew than guests. From our experience we realised most of the crew were new with little or no experience of cruising.
We had a stateroom with balcony which looked dated but ...
We were surprised not be offered a glass of bubbly on boarding and this seemed to set the theme for the rest of the cruise. I have cruised many, many times with Celebrity. This one was so different.
The food in the main restaurant was disappointing at best, in fact it was poor. The quality, the choices, the temperature. Everything was just poor. Does anyone check the standards in the ...
We sailed on Solstice in the first season followed by Eclipse shortly afterwards. During the next 10 years we sailed on several other cruise lines but returned to Celebrity choosing it not for the line but for the ports of call.
Oh dear, what a surprise. The business model has changed with the line seeming to recoup its losses at the expenses of the passengers.
Gone are the usual shopping ...
Chose this cruise as our 1st return to cruising since the start of the Covid pandemic and Celebrity had always rated highly with us previously. Unfortunately on this occasion they let themselves down even before we sailed. It was almost impossible to get in touch with anyone at Celebrity when we had queries. The hours spent waiting for the phone to be answered were unbelievable. Information ...
I chose Celebrity as I had heard so many good things about it so I was really looking forward to it after having had many fabulous cruises in the past with different lines.
I was shocked on arrival to find a long wait to embark. It was about an hour and a half shuffling along slowly with the most enormous line of people.
A member of staff I heard gleefully telling everyone they "didn't need ...
