Service and amenities are very nice on this ship. I really loved our Royal Suite. Two comfy couches in the living area, a nice comfy bed in the bedroom, one full bath with a separate jacuzzi tub and shower, a jacuzzi on our veranda along with plenty of room to spread out make us want to cruise with celebrity again. Our Butler and room attendant were outstanding! Thanks to Jacky and Francis! Just the best and always with a smile on their faces. They couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable and if it weren’t for them, we would probably not consider celebrity again. Yes, they were just that good! The food was mostly decent, and the best was La Petit Chef which I originally avoided because it sounded silly. We finally tired it and enjoyed it thoroughly. The food was better than Blu that’s for sure. That one was awful. They rushed everything, splashing wine, cold food, tasteless everything. Just yuck! Murano is good but there are too many dishes that have dairy. Creamy this and that....it’s too old style. They need to modern up that cuisine. I loved the sushi restaurant! Honestly I’m kind of a foodie so I’m trying not to be too critical because after all, it’s a ship. I don’t expect the food to be as good as dining out in the Bay Area where I live. Yes I’m spoiled with great food at home. Some tours were great and others were awful. Fortunately mostly we had good tours. I might consider making my own arrangements at the ports of call in the future, though. Entertainment was good although we didn’t do a lot of that. We loved Michaels! Thanks to Lara for being so helpful and so cheerful. Perfect person for this job! This was our first big cruise as we’ve always done small cruises before. Read Less

We have previously cruised before but wanted to try something a little more upmarket. We were very impressed by the standards of this cruise we cannot wait to go back. Everything was just right. We got on at Southampton having staying at the Chilworth Manor hotel on their park and cruise package (included is bed and breakfast, over night stay, 3 course meal in their restaurant, parking and taxis to/from the terminal). All was very efficient. When the taxi arrived at the terminal our bags were taken from us for safe passage onto the train. Getting onto the ship was no hassle. We got on around midday. Our rooms were not ready until around 1pm but they had the oceans café open for lunch. It was busy but the food was delightful. Getting to our cabin we were happy with our home for the week. A comfortable reasonable sized bed. Good quality toiletries. Great shower with closable door (I hate shower curtains so was pleased to see there was not one!). Towels could have been a bit bigger but did their job! We asked the cabin steward for larger robes as well which were delivered to us. Tea and coffee making facilities. Safe. Hairdryer (not the greatest). TV with various channels on including the traditional cruise channels like view from the bridge and the directors channel. We had a little seating area with a sofa and table and also a mirror with another chair. We were on deck 6 in room 6187 - this is the first level with the balcony rooms and where the life boats are. We did not have an obstructed view of the horizon - it meant that we could not look down to the sea due to the life boat being there. It wasn't really an issues at all although I did think it was going to be before we got on the ship. There is plenty storage - the cupboards above the bed are almost hidden and I wouldn't have known about them if someone had not said! This gives plenty of room and your suitcase should be able to fit under the bed out of sight and mind. Our cabin steward was great - the room was always spotless. Turn down every night and towels replaced in the morning and/or evening. Loved getting the cruise news letter in the evening for the next days activities. The food was amazing. We had evening meals in the Grand Cuvee every day, waiter served lunch when it was available and breakfast here every morning too. The menus were superb. We did not have a bad meal and I ate absolutely everything on my plate. We had select dining and we would usually be given a beeper around 8pm and sat 15-20mintes after and just got a drink in the mean time. The waiter staff were excellent. Alternatively the oceans café was open throughout the day. We went there for lunch and afternoon tea and a midnight snack on some of the days! It can be busy. The food is of a very good quality. There is also the master grill outside to get burgers/hotdogs/ice cream throughout the day. The food in all was an absolute highlight of the cruise. There were speciality restaurants but as we had to pay extra we did not think it was worth it given the high standard of the main restaurant. The drinks were very reasonable and the waiters were very generous. On the classic drinks package you could have most things but I guess it is your personal tastes that would dictate this. On the classic package we did have to pay more at the martini bar and for some cocktails but it was only the difference so it was not a lot. The wines for meals were great. There are various bars available. The passport bar in the grand foyer on level 3 had a lot of seats to lounge on and also served coffee. The grand foyer is where some events took place so this was a nice place to sit. The sky lounge on deck 14 was mainly where we went in the evening for live music but they also had quizzes on during the day. They served some nice cocktails. Martini bar had an actually iced bar which was fun. The cellar masters does good wines and also sherry and port which we couldn't get else where on the ship. They had various bars around the ship including in the casino, quaser and by the pool. We enjoyed the selection of drinks and the availability of the bars. The pools on deck 12 were great. They were heated so just about bearable to get in when we were in Norway! The jacazzis are amazing - our best experience with these was going in at 10pm at night! Exhilarating! Loads of towels and blankets available. They also have swimming pool and jacuzzi inside if sitting out in the cold isn't for you! The entertainment was to a very high standard. The shows in the evening with the performers were excellent. The acrobats were incredible. We did not really enjoy the comedian but this is personal taste. They had live bands and a great female singer too. The shows were at 7 and 9pm giving opportunity for dinner. We really enjoyed the silent discos. The late night quiz games were also hilarious. The cruise director was very entertaining. The casino was large. We do not usually frequent casinos but we won a free $20 bet on the slot machines and spent a rather amusing few hours spending our bet! There were talks during the day about the ports of call, the gulf stream and even the captain did one about navigation. 'Evening chic' is their formal night - we had two. It was nice to see most people making an effort. The ports were all very good. I liked that actually there was not too much to do at each port so that one could get off, go explore and get back on board feeling like you had seen enough of the city. We did not do any of the ships shore excursions as it was so much cheaper to do it ourselves. We really enjoyed getting back on the ship to nice hot chocolate! Overall this was the best cruise we have been on (so far). Everything seemed catered for. We enjoyed speaking to fellow cruisers and how diverse the passengers and staff were. We felt very well fed and watered and above all very relaxed thankful that we were able to go on such an immense cruise. Read Less

Embarkation at Southampton was quick and easy - our cases were collected from our car and next reappeared in our stateroom. 15 minutes after getting out of the car we were on the ship. Silhouette is due a revamp early next year but don’t this confuse you, she is very far from tired and tatty and still exceeds the standards of the best hotels. Our cabin was well equipped, large and spotlessly clean. Entertainment and activities are constant, varied, numerous and entirely optional - we tend to entertain ourselves. Similarly we don’t partake in shore excursions as we like to explore independently but tend to do whatever excursionists do for half the price or less. For us the ship is about eating and drinking. Not to excess, but simply indulging in the ridiculously high standards achieved whilst bobbing around in the sea. We travel Aqua Class just to have access to Blu and always will (turned down a suite upgrade this time as we would lose our Blu guarantee). The food is fresh, light, imaginative and cooked to perfection every time. We had a night in Murano which is simply the finest restaurant we have visited on land or sea, and we visit a LOT of restaurants. The service here is ramped up to levels only dimly remembered, and the flambeed lobster is to die for. Our favourite bar, the World Class Bar, staffed by the world class Daniel and Alexandra, serves only a small range of cocktails made with the finest ingredients. We were also pleasantly surprised on this cruise by the quality of the live music, which is constant in half a dozen different venues on board. From classical, through jazz and blues, to rock and pop, ever musician was insanely talented. What sets Celebrity aside, however, is the service. 1,500 staff work around the clock to make every cruise perfect and memorable. They will be respectful and attentive at all times, but are also willing to laugh and joke and have fun with those guests who want it. Never forced, never inappropriate, this is a very difficult line to tread. Celebrity achieves it with ease. The cruise itself covered the ports of Bergen, Alesund, Flam and Stavanger. Each provided and different but fantastic experience. Standing on the lawn by the sunset bar as we cruised down the magnificent is one of many memories which will stay with me for life. We pay a decent amount of money to Celebrity for our aqua class cruises, but the fact that we’re planning the next two gives the clearest indication that we don’t begrudge a penny. Read Less

As usual, Celebrity delivered excellent food and service on our recent Baltic cruise. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and efficient. Our balcony cabin was larger on the Reflection than on past Celebrity ships. The layout was great and the extra space was appreciated. The entertainment was good, but not spectacular. We have become comfortable with the fact that if you want big productions, try Celebrity's sister line - Royal Caribbean. Rob Lewis, a Phil Collins tribute act, was great. The service in the Opus restaurant was exceptional - as was the food. I can't imagine what our waiters and sommelier could have done any better. We did have dinner in the Tuscan Grille one evening and it was a disappointment. Three of us ordered steaks. Two were too rare and one was overdone. By the time we got one steak redone, everything was cold. We paid $45 each and wished we had eaten in the Opus dining room. The ship is fabulous. Although we were with 3,300 other guests, the ship never felt crowded. There are enough small areas (library, Hideaway, etc.) that we could always find some quiet places when we desired. We toured Berlin, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Stockholm with TJ Travel Tours. All were great experiences. Our guide in St. Petersburg was Natasha and she worked very hard for two 10-hour days. Her knowledge of Russian history was exceptional. She was old enough to have lived under Soviet rule, so she also had an interesting perspective on the czars, the Soviets and on life after the fall of the Soviet Union. We toured Copenhagen on a Celebrity tour, since TJ was not able to form a group there. The guide was knowledgeable and we got a good feel for the city. Overall, it was a great trip. We were extremely lucky with the weather. We traveled with a couple who had just gotten their first passports and this was their first cruise. We warned them that the Reflection experience will probably spoil them for future cruises. Read Less

Let me start by saying that it's 20 years since our last cruise and after reading reviews and itineraries for the different cruise lines, my husband and I decided on Celebrity. We also chose Amsterdam as the departure port because we didn't want to fly for various reasons. The check-in and embarkation could not have been better. No problems whatsoever. At this point I think it's only fair to say that as for security, it was first class. Obviously because of the times we live in it had to be much stricter than our last cruise but as a result, we felt very safe on board. A big thank you to celebrity for that. As we were Concierge class it included a welcome aboard lunch in the Opus Restaurant. However, as were given an embarkation time of 1 o'clock, by the time we got to the restaurant in question we found another couple trying to get in but had been told it closed a few minutes earlier. All four of us explained our situation and finally, we were allowed in. Not a good start to our cruise as we believe the restaurant should have been informed of the latest time for concierge guests to board and be directed there for lunch. Thankfully it was the only incident on embarkation day. Our Concierge Aldin Buendia, was very helpful and kind. As we both have food allergies and after experiencing some difficulties during an "open seating" for dinner in the Opus Restaurant the day we were docked in Warnemunde, she immediately dealt with our complaints and everything was sorted out. From then on, we had the same table (142) all the time with our trusted waiters Yanin, Tatitiana and Sergei to take care of us. A big thank you to all of you. However, like other reviews we did feel the menu in this restaurant could have been a lot better. We had no problems with the quality of the food, but the selection/description left a lot to be desired. Specialty Restaurants - we didn't dine in any as we believe guests shouldn't have to pay extra for things like that. It seems cruise lines are now putting profit before guests which we think is a step in the wrong direction. Spa - had my hair done twice by Anderson for the two Chic Evenings and found him excellent. Gave me some very helpful advice all of which I have since acted upon. Thank you! Photo Gallery - excellent. As my husband doesn't like having his picture taken, we have very few over the last number of years. However, as we we were celebrating a few things, we decided to have some taken around the ship and on good advice by the staff took the "photo package" for $250. Best value ever! Evening entertainment Reflection Theatre - we enjoyed most nights. The best ones for us were The Overtures Stares of St Petersburg Folkloric Group and The FlyRights. We felt Celebrity's own production shows we not great and the costumes let it down. It's as if they wanted to do the whole thing on a shoestring. My experience of shows on a cruise were spectacular with props and costumes giving it a real Broadway feel. These were nothing like it unfortunately. As for the places visited, see our reviews of each port. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise very much and would certainly recommend Celebrity and this itinerary without hesitation. One final piece of advice: if you experience any problems whatsoever do not hesitate to speak to the person in charge. Read Less

This was a good--not great cruise. We were in a Concierge Balcony. This was a very nice stateroom but we do think Concierge is a bit overrated and probably not worth extra $. The cruise director(Sue) was outstanding and main theater entertainment was superb. The secondary entertainment in bar areas was a bit weak. Restaurants were all good but Qisine was simply incredible! Aside from the Little Chef interactive which is a must the food was remarkable! Oddly the fish on this cruise was average at best. My new favorite space on a ship is the aft area and Silhouette has a very nice aft bar. Staff were very nice and accommodating. One problem re the ports--I simply cant recommend going to St Petersburgh at any time in the season. The crowds were overwhelming. Surviving the Hermitage was a miracle! Forget meditating over a work of art. When sailing into Stockholm be sure to get up early to see the Archipelago--breathtaking scenery. Read Less

We chose Celebrity for our Baltic cruise, because of previous great on a previous Caribbean experience several years ago. We had two couples in two veranda rooms on decks 6 & 7. All four members of our party were truly thrilled with our overall experience. The food and service in the main Opus dining room was excellent! I’m gluten free and the staff and kitchen did an incredible job of giving me great multiple options every night. In addition, we had the premium beverage package that was a huge bargain the entire trip. I got my favorite wines, my wife her favorite vodka & our friends got their favorite bourbon. They even had gluten free beer for me when I was in a beer mood. We tried two of the upscale restaurants over the course of our 12 day cruise. Murano was nice, but we had slow service our first night. Fortunately, Tanya, the head of all the specialty restaurants gave us a bottle of champagne to show her appreciation for our patience. We tried Tuscany twice (Italian) and loved the giant all window room on the back of the ship. The food, service and beverages did not disappoint. We did dine in the giant cafe a few times, but preferred the sit down meals with service when offered. The shows and entertainment was very good most nights. We loved the silent disco experience, where everyone wears headphones and you have three options of songs to dance to. Our only real complaints are on their very lame WiFi and their nearly worthless Celebrity app. Both truly disappointed us, but the balance of the experience was excellent. Rooms were nice size and well maintained throughout. We’re already looking for the next itinerary on the Celebrity Reflection! Cheers! Read Less

We sailed with Celebrity two years ago and enjoyed it, but we were very disappointed this time. The standards had dropped, the food was worse, the entertainment (with the exception of their own singers and dancers) was very poor - Pontins on the sea would be a compliment. They had a magician who they claimed had written tricks for David Copperfield but to be honest this must be a lie, because he was worse than amateurish and his tricks were very dated (floating sphere behind the scarf where you could see him holding the rod in his left hand, the jumping handkerchief where you could see the wire in his mouth etc). The singers were tuneless and not in the least entertaining and their “Grand Finale” on the last night was EXACTLY THE SAME SHOW that we saw on the Eclipse two years previously. They were all about trying to get you to spend more money rather than offering decent things to entertain you (assuming you did not want to participate in childish competitions and such). The menu choice was very limited (unless, of course, you wanted to spend more money going to other restaurants) and the buffet on deck 14 was usually cold (assuming you could actually find somewhere to sit to find that out). We travelled Concierge Class but to be honest there was no benefit to that - the free gift in the cabin was one (not even one each) cheap rubber holder for your Seapass card with an adhesive back which we had no idea what we were supposed to do with, no welcome meal like last time, no extra features, no priority boarding and no point in paying the extra. When you get Meat Loaf on the menu in the MDR you know standards have dropped! That’s what happened here on the Silhouette and just shows how much this company is cutting back! The food standards in Ocean View has also suffered badly. Have sailed with Celebrity 5 times now, but will have to seriously consider if we go back on them. We saw the same 3 shows from the in-house team of dancers as a year ago, (they even must be fed up doing them!) The day time activities are practically none existent, unless you like a quiz, these seem to be the main stay of the sea day! The same talks about Matt Monroe! The same boring Max paintings in the art auctions! However, they have put some new slot machines in the casino - this proved a good opportunity to put the slot prices up to 88cents a go! Don’t waste your money there, they are all so “tight” your unlikely to win! To make things worse Celebrity seriously reduced the price of this Ireland/Icelandic cruise so those faithful cruisers who booked early were well and truly fleeced. We complained about the reduced prices and got upgraded but we were still out of pocket, our friends even more so. I have always rated Celebrity 5 stars across the board so I hate writing this negative feedback, but unless the owners wake up they are going to loose their loyal customers ! I may add I never encountered any rude staff, they were all nice and I think they must be equally suffering too from these cutbacks with added workloads. Read Less

We have been on a lot of cruises and we have seen the ups and downs in the cruise industry. So this is my report. Check in was a so quick. The little perks like sparking wine on boarding puts X a step or 2 above the mass market cruise lines. Boarding and disembarking went smoothly. I was surprised at the quality and diversity of the meals. Pizza baked on fresh dough was one of the highlites. We saw a pizza crust person rolling crust after crust. Of course the free ice cream was yummy even better on the two days we had fresh berries (blue straw rasp and black). I loved the ethnic choices - tikka and salsa yum. The ship is beautiful and well maintained. The entertainment was OK but tailored to the taste of the brits on the ship. The staff on Celebrity has always been good and this cruise the service was outstanding. Bo Read Less

We wanted to visit Ireland and Iceland, but to our surprise the favourite port stop was Lerwick, Shetland Islands. This was our first major cruise and we enjoyed all of it. Met very interesting people from all over the world, who shared their expertise with us. Food was excellent and we used the main dining room almost every night. The buffet offered a diverse selection and was never overly crowded. We loved the small town of Cobh( pronounced Cove) and visited two museums there. They nicely complemented each other. In Dublin we spent time at the Epic Museum and enjoyed it. None of these museums were expensive. In Lerwick we walked and climbed hills, stopping at the Commonwealth cemetery and the Jimmy Perez house. Our “big” excursion was the Ring of Fire in Iceland. This needs a review on its own. Let’s just say we needed more time at The Parliament and less having coffee and cake (who needs more food ?) Read Less

We chose this cruise for 2 reasons. Firstly, the ports (apart from Dublin) were all new destinations for us. Secondly, we had cruised on the silhouette before and new that it was a very good experience. Because my wife is in a wheelchair, we had booked an ocean-view accessible cabin which was spacious and the door opened automatically when the card was swiped meaning my wife could come and go independently. The food in the Main Dining Room was excellent - the waiters, Brian & Jordan were brilliant and the sommelier Arnold always kept our glasses full with a smile & a joke. The entertainment was superb - full marks to the cruise director, the amazing Sue Denning. After every excursion ashore, she was always there to welcome us back on board. We missed Gurnesey because the waves were too big to tender, but that was the only port we missed. Read Less

Well Eclipse and Silhouette are the same class of ship, have the same cruise director Sue when I have travelled on them, I have had the same cabin on both and having sailed the 8 day Fjords on Eclipse and now the 7 day Fjords on Silhouette can directly compare like for like. So lets start at the beginning at check in, Eclipse was a breeze within a few minutes I was through security and on the ship, Silhouette waiting in lines for security going backwards and forwards along the ropes, check in I did get pushed up as I now have a captains club status however then had to sit and wait in the lounge for more time than the whole check in time on Eclipse. (same arrival time for both ships) Room. I have had the same room on both ships both looked the same and were in good condition except on Silhouette the basin had a big chip in it not a major problem. On Eclipse I had a nice blue celebrity bag a pen etc etc on Silhouette nothing. Room stewards on both ships were 5 star. So exploring the ship they are mainly the same but things are missing on Silhouette. Passport bar no screens for me to watch Formula 1 on the Sunday, most nights casino bar was crammed with people trying to watch football on the small screens behind the bar!, no fridges of speciality drinks and no food service in passport bar, ocean view cafe no bar on outer deck just a make shift pile of drinks, pool deck no fountains, lawn club almost non existent as covered in empty cabanas, who wants to sit in an expensive cabana in the cold of Norway, Iceland or Russia where the ship normally sails, or an open air restaurant, no hot glass show thats one of my favourite things plus a few other little things around the ship that on there own are not much but added together makes a big difference between the ships. Crew and service, the big difference between Celebrity and other lines to me is the wonderful happy friendly helpful crew. On Silhouette it looked like they had all just been told they were fired at the end of the week, service was poor not very friendly and a couldn't care less attitude by many but not all, some bar staff couldn't understand English even when ordering a simple coke and I couldn't understand them. However things got better as the week progressed, perhaps it was 2 things, 1 they were understaffed, 2 everyone had a drinks package or was elite and its the nearest thing to a booze cruise I have seen, theatre was very empty most nights as people just stayed in the bars. Entertainment, Eclipse was stunning, fantastic production shows, great beyond the podium talks, great music around the ship etc etc in fact I watched all the production shows twice, going back and standing at the back of the theatre and even now watch topper, chandelier etc on youtube, Silhouette. cosmopolitan and life shows, no story line at all just random dances and songs thrown together for no reason? Was tempted to walk out and just watch the house bands but kept thinking it will get better but it didn't. Pearl was thankfully much better with some good effects and a decent story line. Ancora was the only guest act that was 5 star. Beyond the podium speakers on Eclipse were great, didn't have any on Silhouette? Cooking demonstrations by the chefs in Celebrity central none on Silhouette, no ice carvings on Silhouette, no fruit carvings etc on Silhouette just shopping. Music and entertainment in daytime on sea days on Eclipse great, loved every sea day even on the transatlantic, no music in daytime on Silhouette till 5 p.m just a quiz each day counted about 30 to 40 people each day out of about 2800 passengers at the quiz, in fact port days and sea days entertainment are basically the same? Sea day today entertainment is a sale in the shops, an art auction, a talk on navigation in celebrity central I have seen 3 times and a talk on booking a cruise on Edge at 1 p.m. Nothing to do but write this and pack the case till about 5 p.m. when the music starts, so bored and hungry as been to ocean view cant get a table as people are sat reading books etc, no problem only wanted a pastry and a drink so headed to cafe al bacio on deck 5 and its full of people sat reading books etc again so cant get a seat, dont want to eat in my room(inside cabin as I pay for 2 drinks packages for 1 person if I have anything above this, already expensive as a solo paying for 2) so just headed to passport bar and had a coke for breakfast, how can this be 5 star? Never been to a 5 star hotel where i cant get a table. Shows that there is nothing to do on board to drag them out of the cafe etc and its too cold outside, only thing for people to do is read and drink and eat, things will only get worse if the library and card room go as rumoured as the people from there will move to cafe al bacio and ocean view as well. Music in Cafe al bacio is pointless as the people who sit there all day just talk loudly and drown the string duo out in the evening. Ensemble lounge one of my favourites 1 group of about 6 would sit there all night just in front of the performer and shout above the music, listening to the details of his vasectomy is not something I think the room needs to hear! We would much rather listen to the quality music he is drowning out. Food, great food and service on Eclipse with a fantastic selection, dinning room had a 2 page menu each evening and was fantastic quality, buffet was amazing, I regularly had a steak cooked to order in the buffet with some chips or had some nice roast beef Yorkshire pudding roast potatoes and horseradish. in the morning I had a cooked to order omelette and always had a nice glass of fresh orange juice. On Silhouette never saw a cook to order steak or fish in buffet, didn't see an omelette station, no roast potatoes only some greasy herb covered things they called roast potatoes no Yorkshire and no chips at lunch time? Very rarely got my orange juice as no service just a line at the bar. Dinning room a 1 page menu, I dont eat fish or seafood so by the time you exclude these off the menu very very little selection my waiter who was great felt so sorry for me he brought me a huge bowl of chips one night, so part the way through the week I just used ocean view cafe, at least in the evening you could get a seat in there and had a better selection. On entering ocean view on Silhouette the hand gel was empty it took 5 goes to get enough to clean my hands so I walked up to the guy in the suit and gold tie who was always busy doing nothing in charge and reported it he looked totally disinterested never replied to me and just wandered off answering his phone, on leaving ocean view i tried the gel machine and it was still empty! A good 20 mins later! Food hygiene seems low priority, having seen many not washing there hands in the bathroom its just time before norovirus breaks out. Shopping, some great shops were on eclipse and I always got tempted to spend money on impulse buys, one thing I always bought was some Ralph Lauren smelly as duty free it makes sense, on Silhouette I bought nothing, I didnt need a faberge egg, I dont want a hand bag or expensive ring or necklace and the watches are cheaper in the uk even paying the duty at my local jewellers I checked. I did go to get my Ralph Lauren as normal only to be told that the 2 types I have bought on Eclipse are too upmarket to be sold onboard! I am sorry but I just walked past Cartier, Faberge, Rolex etc? Yet they only carry the cheaper Ralph Lauren? Also why everyday do we have a car boot sale in the walkway outside the shops of Russian souvenirs? Russian hats, dolls, russian xmas ornaments in spring! did nobody notice we were in Norway not Russia! Not one Norwegian souvenier in sight, Celebrity has lost the plot Great to see the paper straws on Silhouette replacing the plastic and they are not too bad, however a long way to go in the Eco department as the shops give you a plastic bag, and each night you get your planner loads of junk mail from the shops and art gallery falls out, chances are that if I didn't want a handbag, spar day or oil painting on day 1 sending me junk mail every day will not change my mind! On Silhouette I have now got to Select level so qualify for some sort of officers party, great. On top of my daily planner one night was a letter saying that due to the high number of guests that are of this level or above the party is cancelled due to lack of room. Could they not have more than 1 party? The thing that got me was that as compensation they were giving me 3 free drinks! I and nearly everyone on here has a drinks package, you cant not if you go oceanview or above (UK booking rules) and even me in an inside cabin has bought a premium drinks package so I took this as a very lazy insult. Next morning I took the vouchers to the Captains club host arriving at 10.05 but she was late for work, probably stuck in roadworks in between home and the ship, returned about an hour later to see it was the lady who forgot here safety equipment at muster drill and had to go back for it giving you confidence in an emergency and explains why muster drill took about 45 mins, i waited while she served a guest then she wandered off to chat to her friend so I gave up and returned the vouchers to guest services. Itinerary on both cruises is almost identical except we didn't go to Flam on Silhouette as its a 1 day shorter cruise so you would think everything would be the same? No The highlight for me and probably many more is the sail into Geiranger it is amazing, On Eclipse I spent hours watching the cliffs getting closer waiting to see the seven sisters then hearing the cannon as we entered Geiranger itself before spinning the ship and watching the seawalk come out, on Silhouette we docked in Geiranger at 5 a.m. in the dark! Yes we did see the scenery on the way out but once you pass the 7 sisters and the fjord widens its just not the same as sailing in. So 2 ships almost the same on almost the same cruise with the same cruise director, in my reviews on cruise critic etc I gave Eclipse 4.5 out of 5 Silhouette i will go 2.5 Heard many other complaints while around the ship such as no cot for baby booked on board despite phoning Celebrity day before to make sure they had organised it from the original booking, plus 1 couple had a dirty cabin and reported it to guest relations and while his wife was changing the steward just walked in without knocking! Not sure if the difference between the 2 cruises is the ship or Celebrity cut backs. Hopefully its just the ship because otherwise my next cruise will be my last on Celebrity. Many UK passengers were on Celebrity for the first time from Royal, Cunard and P&O and say they will not be sailing Celebrity again and thats a shame as I know that Celebrity can be so good but unfortunately not this week. So in summary. 5 star modern luxury? On Eclipse yes 5 star Silhouette 2 star its not living up to its potential (2 stars is given for room steward, waiter and a few bar staff that were the usual special wonderful Celebrity crew). I have recommended Eclipse to Family and friends and all have had a great cruise, I will not be recommending Silhouette quite the opposite. One thing I will say is Silhouette is the first Celebrity ship I have been on that has had a solo get together. However its in passport bar at 8 p.m. a time when the music is playing in the foyer and the bar is so busy its standing room only so not got a clue if anyone else is solo on here or if they were at the meeting so a good try but a total failure, Celebrity need to start doing things for the solo cruiser as they will soon have 5 new ships with solo cabins. My suggestion would be a coffee morning or something somewhere quieter. My review is written from a solo travellers point of view, something that is totally different to what most of you may experience on board, for instance in ocean view you leave one person holding a table while you get your food then swap over, as a solo I have to get my food then hope I can get a table or wander around for ages to get one only to have cold food! A thing a solo traveller hates is to finally find a seat at a table only to hear a couple moan oh look there is one person sat at a table for 4! Well its probably the only table I can get and you are very welcome to join me. Entertainment on board is a big thing for me and other solo travellers. Give me live music and a coke I am happy, watch something like the egg drop, dancing with the officers is the funniest thing i have ever seen, a good beyond the podium speaker, officers versus crew volley ball etc etc. All the things that Celebrity dont have on this cruise and seem to be doing away with for shopping all day, sorry but i would rather spend my money on another cruise than some painting or a watch. I have a cruise booked on Edge and Apex, I will go on Edge as it will cost me too much to cancel in airfare etc etc but unless its better than this cruise it will be my last Celebrity cruise as will cancel apex and find a cruise line that will keep me entertained rather than just trying to get me to spend money in the shops and car boot sale type sales in the walkways. Cant imagine the Hilton, Savoy, Fairmont or Panpacific having a car boot sale in the foyer and keeping there 5 star status yet it seems ok at sea? I have seen people returning handbags today that were bought early in the cruise on table sales with broken straps already! I have been a Big Celebrity cruise fan and recommend it to many people as have had some fantastic cruises with them, I hate moaning about it and would rather be enjoying a cruise and be in future cruise booking another, than sat bored writing this. Written from the point of view of a Solo non drinking Celebrity Cruise fan on the last day of the cruise, you may have a different view but this was my experience and my opinion. Read Less

We’ve tried quite a few cruise lines and had heard that Celebrity were excellent so thought we’d give them a go as they were doing the Norwegian Fjords, which we wanted to see as our next cruise. Checking in was fine and our balcony cabin was lovely and clean and had a nice big bathroom/shower. Out cabin steward Anthony was lovely. There were no major complaints as such, just lots of little things every day which didn’t sit well. Firstly, the MDR. The food choices weren’t great and a couple of days our meals were stone cold. Some days the food was good though and hot. Our wine waiter was very miserable and didn’t seem to want to be there - and wasn’t a lot of the time! We were lucky to get a glass of wine before our starter. Often you would get dips and butter, but no bread. One night they pulled my chair out for me and there were 2 dirty napkins and breadcrumbs all over my seat. My other half likes an espresso after his dinner and every night it was served in a mug! Little things I know, but not what we expected. There seemed to be quite a few complaints about the food and service and there were people in suits watching the waiters and then asking the diners around the complainers if they had heard and were they happy (us a couple of nights). I just want to eat my dinner in a relaxed, peaceful environment, which this certainly wasn’t. To cap it off the suits and waiters come around the last night and tell you how important it is we give them a 9 or 10 on the survey!!!!! Food in the buffet was good, but we could never find a seat straightaway, but I think that’s the norm on most cruise ships. The entertainment in the theatre and waiter service was good, but we had to wait until 10.30pm because of our dinner time, which is quite late. We Had to wait until 11.30pm for the comedian one night. The entertainment around the lounges was average and very samey. A couple of groups and a duo. Some nights we’d be sat in the Passport/foyer bar and there’d be no music for an hour, which seems a bit strange. Loved the layout of the ship, one of the easiest to navigate around only having 2 sets of lifts in the middle and back. Everywhere was also spotless all the time, especially the toilets. We were given the classic drinks package as part of the deal, but once onboard there isn’t a lot you can have with, it’s very limited. A decent cocktail or glass of wine was 14/15 dollars, so we had to upgrade to the premium package. Just be aware of this. Lastly, our main disappointment was the lack of friendly service in the bars. I would say 80% of our drinks we had to get ourselves as waiter service was severely lacking. A lot of the staff behind the bar weren’t at all friendly we found too, we tried to chat to them, but they really weren’t interested. They all work hard I know, but you usually get a bit of banter. This is just my opinion and many may disagree, but this is just what we found. Perhaps we were expecting too much or perhaps we were just unlucky. The Norwegian Fjords were stunning and we enjoyed our cruise, but not sure we would sail with Celebrity again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we had been on this ship before and wanted to visit the Norwegian Fjords. Overall we were pleased with the cruise and the destination didn't disappoint. The areas of disappointment for us were the quality and choice of food in the restaurant. After just a couple of days it became apparent that the menu doesn't really change that much, particularly the starters and sweets. Boring would be the only word to describe them. If this was a restaurant in my local town, I would not be visiting it! If we're to travel on this ship again, we would consider eating in the café where the choice of food on offer is far better, particularly the sweets. The other area of disappointment was the entertainment, specifically the shows put on by the ships own staff. This is not a criticism of their skills, which were very good but more the fact that the shows were the same or very similar to those we had seen on a cruise on this ship approximately 9 months earlier. Celebrity should also review their presentation of the emergency drill given on the first day. The cartoon/film is both puerile and childish. You could visibly watch people being turned off and not paying attention, and you certainly don't want to watch this in "Michael's Bar" which was overcrowded with far too many people in a small area. This resulted in people overheating and wanting to leave the presentation early. This was the same on the previous cruise on this ship. Its clear that Celebrity take no notice off feedback, as this same criticism was made to the ships crew last year. It's a shame to bring up these criticisms, as overall its a lovely ship with a good crew. Are you listening Celebrity? Read Less

We have mainly gone on Cunard so we thought we would try another Line just to compare. Well we weren't disappointed it was superb. Although the journey down seamed to go on forever we were welcomed onboard with a much appreciated glass of Champers. The lifeboat drill was a bit silly, its done using a cartoon film! Our balcony cabin was better than we expected it was loverly. What can I say about the food in the buffet area, the selection was fantastic the choice was the best we have ever come across so we will be comparing it with the QM2 which we are going on shortly. We only dined once in the restaurant which was very good. The one thing you should try is the French onion soup you could make a meal of that on its own. Everything about the cruise was ideal and it won't be long before we book another trip on the Silhouette. It truly was Brill. Nearly forgot to mention the all inclusive, well worth it. Read Less

Overall I thought this was the greatest cruise. The staff and crew were great, the cruise director was great, Sue Denning was outstanding. We were on SS Ocean Breeze, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian. This ship was the best. The food was good, and the waiters were great. The shore excursions that we picked were great, but as soon as you get aboard head to the Shore Excursions Desk, shore excursions get filled up quickly. Norwegian Fjords were beautiful, we loved Gerirangerfjord, Norway. This was Norway. Stavanger, Norway was great too. Great history. We had lunch at Burger King. We were looking for McDonald's, but could it find it. All the ports were all interesting and great to visit. What I liked we were not forced to buy stuff, the ports were nice to walk around. This place is not the Caribbean. Great place to tour. I thought the ship was great and fun to explore. We used the card room, the library, the hideaway. The theater shows were great. I would do a Celebrity Ship again. Read Less

Second time on Celebrity and the last. First trip was some years ago on Millenium - hated every minute of that ship so it has taken me some years to dip my toe in again. We primarily booked the trip because it was the itinerary we were looking for and my cruise agent urged me to give them another go as the 'newer' ships were much better..... I think what I have learned with cruising over the last 22 years is that everybody probably ends up with a favorite cruise line, and that has never been more evident to me than after this cruise. I am pleased I have given celebrity another try as it has absolutely satisfied my mind that they are not the line for me and never will be - they are just not special enough in my opinion. For me the 'Celebrity brand' doesn't do what it says on the tin. A luxury cruise line it isn't. All in all we found it completely UNDERWHELMING! I don't say that lightly, but the mood of the ship is definitely aiming at sophistication, but it misses the mark! The whole mood of the ship is one of darkness, feeling almost claustrophobic with its small bars and spaces. lighting is very subdued, both day and night, giving it an almost 'club' like feel. Because of the design of the ship there are no quiet areas, even the library (which is lovely) is noisy, with the sound of ping pong and the lifts. Music pumps out from almost everywhere and sometimes you just want a pleasant place to relax. We found it so frustrating that when sailing out of beautiful places the music was blaring and almost everyone was commentating on it. Sometimes Celebrity, silence is golden and far more appropriate!! It was the little things we missed, which other lines offer, which matter - no nibbles at any of the bars and inconsistency of the drinks in almost every bar, literally no two drinks were the same. There were also no self service laundry facilities - really? and one of our favorites was missing - movies under the stars, very disappointing. We found the service overall just OK, certainly not outstanding. Where the ship massively disappoints however is the main dining experience. This is by far the worst dining room I have experienced. Tables are crammed together, sometimes almost impossible to pass, the design of the room is awful and has more of a feel of a 'kitsch' restaurant. More disappointing is the food which is little more than mediocre. We really disliked eating here and the only relief was we had booked 4 x night specialty restaurant package. To be fair there are however a couple of positives which we should mention. Firstly Murano restaurant is just fabulous, the ambiance, the staff, food and service is outstanding. I can without a doubt say that this is the best restaurant at sea I have eaten in so far. Bravo to the staff and chef's, you do yourself proud! Secondly the cabins are fine, great bathrooms and well laid out. We had a fabulous cabin steward who looked after us so well, and our room became our sanctuary. We had high expectations of the ship and whilst this didn't live up to the hype we are still glad we went, because we have satisfied ourselves that we never need look at celebrity again and wonder! The cruise started well, having chosen the itinerary and ship having heard good things about Celebrity. Embarkation was smooth and quick, we needed assisted boarding and this was provided easily and with a very helpful and friendly member of staff. The rooms were ready at 13.30, we settled in well and the luggage was quickly delivered. We were very happy with the layout and look of the ship, although there are very few quiet areas, but there was plenty to do and see onboard. The pool in the solarium however was always very cold and seemed to be unheated, which meant it was difficult to swim in. It was however a very pleasant area to relax in. Food and service on the whole was very good. We had select dinning and met different people each night at dinner which was fantastic. There was an issue with the meal on one night, which was dealt with easily and with no fuss. The buffet style eating was also very good with a large selection also and the grand buffet on the last day for lunch was outstanding. We loved the Sky Lounge and the bar staff there were amazing, and deserve a special mention. Entertainment was superb, particularly the fabulous Jayne Curry and comedian Paul Eastwood. Don't miss them if you have a change to see them. Our main issue started right from the beginning and it is the high pressure selling all the time. Everytime you walked passed a shop or looked at anything there was pressure to buy, often at prices in excess of the hight street despite being told that it was tax free etc. This also extended into the specialty dinning, where you were constantly harassed at breakfast and lunch, often at the table, into attending. For that reason we didn't do so. There were also these raffles all the time, where you were promised fantastic prizes but this wasn't the case. We won a free artwork in the art auction, only to be told be would have to pay $69 for the privilege. The ports were good on the whole, although it would have been nice to see more of the Fjords, as this was often early in the morning, or when it was dark. The train excursion in Flam was very badly organised with some people not being able to go on the train due to overbooking. We did do the ship tour on the last sea day which was fascinating and meeting the Captain on the bridge was a special moment. For us however the pressured selling of goods and dinning would make us think twice about choosing Celebrity again sadly. Read Less

Like Celebrity with some reservations. The ship was clean and comfortable, the food in both main restaurant and self service was generally very good although sweets are not their strong point. Too many cake based. Entertainment was not great with exception of Jayne Curry. She not only has a great voice but always makes me laugh. Doing 3 shows in 4 days was amazing. Shore excursions were quite limited partly because of small towns but generally were not good value for money. In particular a 2 hour trip on the Flam railway with only 2 x5 min stops costing over £100 each was very disappointing. Service is very good although bar staff are variable. Celebrity must surely give thought to an all inclusive cruise. The drinks package is fairly expensive but is required as even bottled water is charged. In this day and age, WiFi is surely a necessity. Less emphasis should be placed on selling speciality restaurants. Finally we told Celebrity that we were celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary. After 4 days we had a card and fridge magnet delivered to our cabin. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was sailing to the destination we desired and because of the raving reviews. We can fault NOTHING and praise EVERYTHING. From the luxurious and stylish design of the ship, to the amazing, warm and sweet service we received, to the food, oh my God the food was amazing. To the room, cleaned twice daily. To the itinerary, the entertainment (thank you Eddy!) To the bedroom and bars. We had awesome servers in the MDR- Jerry kept filling my husband's glass with wine, Myo and Rajni were so attentive to us! Filip in the Sunset Bar was great, Gina, our room attendant, was the best. Eddy, the cruise director and Jayne Curry with her wonderful voice and amazing personality. We loved every second of it and although it has been a few days since we returned home, we miss it. My husband opted for the Standard Alcohol Package which offered him quite a variety of house wines, beers and spirits. I had the standard non alcoholic package and enjoyed treating myself to lush teas and premium coffees. The food both in the Ocean View Cafe and MDR was amazing. We did not try any speciality restaurants because we were super impressed with the MDR food. All in all, this was one of the best holidays of our life. We are in our mid 30s so we have def changed our view that a cruise is for the older generation! It was full of young and young at heart 40, 50 and 60 year old holiday makers. Read Less

Provided wish list for Juliette at www.cruises who gave three options with three cruise lines. We selected one Celebrity (new to both of us) and one Royal Caribbean. All aspects of the Celebrity cruise were excellent. Staff in all roles were attentive, friendly, polite and efficient. Luggage transfer was excellent at both ends of cruise. There was a helicopter lift-off of a sick patient and husband on first night and from our stateroom 7103 window (opposite helipad) we witnessed superb teamwork between Silhouette and helicopter crews. Stepping off in each Port with no need for tendering or shuttle made everything so relaxed and easy. We had pre-booked one trip with Cruising Excirsions.com to Geiranger by coach which was an amazing experience. The daily drinks allowance was very well received. The only issues causing inconvenience were insufficient seating at times when entertainers were in areas of ship and lack of real help and guidance when enquiring about booking another cruise. My friend,Rosina Farrance, and I both Joined Captain’s Club and are interested in another cruise on Celebrity Silhouette, in 2019 in a similar cabin, and are currently talking to Juliette at www.cruises. After almost a month of submitting our reviews/survey, we're still waiting to hear from Celebrity Corporate office about our horrendous experiences during this cruise. We chose the Baltic, St. Petersburg & Scandinavia cruise as a way to see these countries & we always had an enjoyable experience with Celebrity Cruise line. The 1st. day started with an extremely FILTHY cabin, a dinner table mate who announced she had bronchitis & not on meds & it went downhill from there. After she announced her sickness, we told the Maitre'd about our table mate & asked him to move us to another table. Sadly, no tables were available & our 2 choices were: open dining @ 8:30/9:00 or the buffet - Oceanview Cafe. We stayed @ the table & 4 days later my husband bore the brunt of her sickness by getting sick himself. He saw the ship's doctor twice & he stayed in the cabin because he didn't want to contaminate other passengers. I brought him his meals. & whatever else he needed. He missed all the ports except for Copenhagen. There were other people who were coughing, sneezing & were sick who went on the tours. The majority of them announced that they pd. for this cruise & were going on the excursions & didn't care about being sick or passing it onto other passengers. Other problems we encountered were banging toilet pipes during the night for 2 nights between 10 PM & 1 AM. We called Guest Relations the 2 nights & were told a plumber would be sent up to fix the problem. The plumber never came. On the 3rd. day, I went to Guest Relations to again report the banging pipes & I was told, "We don't have a record of your calls so you never called the desk". I told the Guest Relations name of the person who answered the phone on both nights. Her answer was, "there is no record of your calls". I asked her if that person worked those 2 nights & she said, "yes". My response was, I didn't make up his name. Why didn't he report the banging pipes?" The other issue was maintenance when paint was scraped from the deck above our balcony & went onto our balcony..For the 2 days that we were in St. Petersburg we weren't able to sit outside & enjoy the lovely weather & pleasant afternoons. The net used to catch the paint was 18" - 24" wide while the area the was scraped was about 20' wide. Very few paint chips went into the the net & landed on balconies & in St. Petersburg Neva River. Our dinner wait staff, Rafael & Oleksandra, were excellent, always smiling, helpful, friendly & pleasant. Andrea, another ass't. waitress, was friendly & always had a wonderful smile. The Oceanview Cafe & bartenders were pleasant & helpful. Vivek, Concierge, was polite & friendly. We were disappointed in the daily announcements made by the Captain & Cruise Director because we could never hear them in our room. We always had to open the cabin door to hear the announcements. The last day of the cruise, the Cruise director said, "you don't need to stand half naked in the hallways to listen to the announcements. Turn the tv on to channel 6 to hear the announcements & not make other people look at half naked people". NEVER once, before the last day, was this written in the daily bulletin or told to the passengers. This cruise didn't have "sail away" opportunities for Concierge Class which we missed because we enjoy the opportunity to be on the helicopter deck or other decks when we sail away.. Because of these issues & our horrendous experience, I DOUBT IF WE WILL EVER sail on Celebrity again. Read Less

Sent email to Celebrity on Sept 4 with my complaint, todate,18 September I have neither received any acknowledgement of my email nor any response. Information provided onboard for quay/dock location in Helsinki was wrong. Appears the Harbour Master changed berths last minute when ship arrived but this information was not passed to passengers going ashore, therefore ended up in wrong place with double the taxi fare! Paid for wifi but only worked intermittently, ilounge 'professionals' said it was because I had a Russian SIM card, I don't.... used excuses such as, it's because everyone's using the wifi, it's because we're at sea, it's because it comes via satellite, it's your phone, to name a few. We have cruised on Celebrity for more than 10 years. The crew is second to none. This time it seemed way more crowded, with a rushed itinerary, and the cruise director was to over the top. His daily announcements were almost 15 minutes long, the on board entertainment was OK most nights, the best was the live music in the smaller lounges. The main dinning room is FANTASTIC. The cabins and verandas are very nice. Celebrity does have the embarkation and disembarkation down to a science, works very well. While Celebrity’s cruise prices seem to continue to increase, in addition to these increases, In my opinion Celebrity is trying to identify ways to add fees and charges of all types. In port shuttle buses, that used to be included, now there is a charge. Up-charges on drink packages like at the martini bar, 3 bucks more for a larger martini, really why not just get two smaller ones. And everyone of these up-charge slips provide a line for an additional tip. And specialty restaurant are only a fare deal on the first day of the cruise when they are discounted by 30%. In port excursions, in the daily flyer, Celebrity creates the impression the only Hop on Hop off bus is available only at guest relations, all one need do is get off the ship and you can find the same hop on hop off bus at a lower price than Celebrity. So after 10 years of loyalty, i think for our next cruise vacation, we may need to shop around. Read Less
