Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We wanted to see the New Zealand Sounds - not hear them. We are regulars and have sailed on Celebrity before, the last trip was around the west coast of India. The Solstice is a modern well run Ship with good food, comfortable cabins, and professional staff. Exploring Milford and the other sounds on the ship was a great experience, and the Captain and pilot managed to manoeuvre close to the ...

First Time on Celebrity Solstice

The reason for choosing this cruise was the time of year it cruised and to try a different cruise company. This was my ninth cruise and the first on Celebrity. We had a Concierge Cabin on Deck 10 cabin 1204. I have 4 people in the cabin my advice maximum 3 persons should be the maximum. The cabin is narrow and needs refurbishment as does the ship. Not enough space for 4 persons. The Dinning was my ...

Where do you Start.? The Good - The Staterooms ( Balcony) are bigger than other cruise lines - The corridors are bigger - The Captain was outstanding. in communication and very funny. That unfortunately is where it ends The Ship is tired - Cabin Curtains with holes - Carpets worn and stained - Public rooms are worn and tired Particularly the Passport Bar. Theatre seating very shabby. The ...

Ship was Celebrity Solice. Does to Auckland for cruise launch. Boarded after a day exploring Auckland (which we explored before)had hired a private tour..Wonderful Boarding went ...

We paid an awful lot of money for the cruise. Even when you have a cabin with a balcony you have to pay extra to have an unobscured view (a balcony without a lifeboat outside). The cabin was remarkably small and cramped. Despite the already high cost we still had the extra expense of over £200 for wi-fi. The vast majority of hotels these days offer free wi-fi and what is a cruise ship but a ...

A First (and Last) with Celebrity

As a first-time cruiser, I choose this cruise because of the dates fitting in with my work Christmas closedown and the opportunity to visit friends. Unfortunately, when I got the booking sorted, Napier had fallen of the list of ports to visit. I also chose Concierge Class because of the room location and concerns about safety as a solo female traveller. Embarkation. Slow and no promised ...

Selected this cruise because wife was travelling in Asia and it was convenient for he to meet me in Sydney for the cruise. The Ports of call were great. It was the food in the Ocean Cafe Deck 14 which was unacceptable since it was cold. How can you have Hot dishes being served cold. We had Aqua Class could have easily eaten Lunch in the Epernay Dining Room but preferred to eat lunch in the ...

11-day cruise, December 2018, Sydney to Auckland It wasn't that Celebrity was awful. It was that for every positive, there seemed to be a corresponding negative. At the end of the day, there wasn't anything compelling that would make me think I'm better off giving Celebrity my business when considering future cruises. The ship: The Solstice looks nice and Celebrity does a good job keeping it ...

Bad staff and cuisine

We went for a 12 day holiday to NZ but after travelling on many other cruise lines we found the food was shocking and staff rude on Solstice. We were advised that this ship was superior to most of the other cruise lines. NOT SO!! I thought the ship itself was great with heated pools which was handy as it was so cold and also entertainment was good at night. But this was overshadowed by bad ...
