We were very excited to board the Celebrity Edge for our post-wedding cruise. We had recently been on one of the millennium-class ships, but the new edge class looked so much more impressive and appealed more to our sense of style. In anticipation we had watched all kinds of videos, and read all kinds of reviews on what to expect.
In person it is just as stunning as we had expected, and the ...
+Ship is beautiful
+Food is generally good in buffet and MDR
+Fairly good availability of sun chairs
+Quick embarkation and disembarkation
+Great ports of call
-Drink prices extremely high. USD 11 for a 33cl beer and USD 18 or 20 for a drink. And those drinks where horrible. Tasted a bit of bitter water without even a fruit or any kind of decoration to make it attractive in any way ...
To start, the 'balcony' on my 'state room' was far from adequate. ...whoever came up with this design has little idea of what most pax require. One couldn't have the window lowered and the blind lowered at the same time....and with the window down, there was a double metal frame at eye level to impede viewing. But the worst was still to come on the night of day 1 around 0100. The incessant ...
We had travelled on celebrity before but inAqua class. This time we had a balcony
The bathroom flooded twice and we were given a pamphlett not to put anything down the toilet that shouldn’t be there. I was annoyed as the blockage was in the sink and we put up with walking in a few inches of water for a whole day and no hot water in the sink either
We booked dinner at a set time then they ...
Just hated the Infinity balcony cabin. - See cabin review
However, the bathroom was delightful and a really big shower. The cabin decor is pleasant and restful.
The food in the Ocean cafe was of a high standard and tasty. Thought the dining room food was a little safe and bland. However their steaks (readily available) are absolutely excellent.
Strange how few waiters were ...
The main draw for booking this cruise was the itinerary which cruised one way from Honolulu to Tahiti, New Zealand and Australia over our 20th anniversary. Having sailed twice on Celebrity since cruising restarted it is the cruise line my husband and I are most familiar with at this time. Everything went as planned with no problems or disruptions and the weather was fantastic. Overall it was an ...
There were many things to recommend about the trip/ ship, but a few things you should know.
First, the good. The entertainment was pretty great. My cabin was just fine. The specialty restaurants had great food. The buffet was pretty good. The acupuncturist seemed excellent. A couple of the parties were very fun and memorable - like the one for crossing the equator - blackness all ...
The ship looks very tired and requires a refit. The carpets all had a smell about them and urgently need replacing.
The food was OK but I felt they tried too hard. It would have been better to have simpler food cook very well. It was mostly meat and nothing else. A lack of any vegetables or carbs.
The staff could not be faulted they all gave 100% to make sure you had everything you needed. ...
We are seasoned cruisers, and this was our sixth Celebrity Cruise. We were looking forward to the same Celebrity experience we've had previously on other ships, however we were disappointed overall with the offering on the Eclipse.
Let's start with the positives, and what went well:
1. The solarium pool was a very enjoyable space that we used a lot. We never struggled to find an empty deck ...
Myself and my wife selected this cruise which would offer the opportunity to visit countries not seen before (with the exception of New Zealand). Overall, there were highs and lows (quite a lot, actually). As follows:
Highs: Entertainment - actually pretty good. Bearing in mind that not all the performances (around 45 minutes) would suit every taste, we found most to our liking. Very stylish, ...
