Not up to standard!

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We have had a number of Celenrity Cruises this was the most disappointing. The positives - Luminae dining, cabin housekeeping and general level of service. The Sky Suite was spacious and service excellent but the noise from trolleys in the buffet restaurant directly above was intrusive - especially in early morning. Negatives- We saw no evidence of 'priority boarding' which is sold ...

Has Celebrity lost its edge?

For background, we (my wife and I), have been cruising since 2012, our first and third cruises were with Celebrity, and had anyone asked us since that time, we would have recommended them as our favourite cruise line. We have also cruised with HAL, RCL, NCL and Princess. Unfortunately, we can no longer say that after our last outing on the Solstice. The Staff The staff are still top notch. ...

Nice looking ship but a bit sterile

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and the ship because we were told it was amazing.plus a good price with balcony and drinks package. Boarding was good with a welcome glass of sparkly as you got on. Our cabin was very nice as was our steward, The safety talk was a bit of a mish mash as all done on a screen..... We had anytime dining and requested where possible table for two and the lady ...

Amazing destinations

We chose this cruise in order to visit relatives and see destinations we missed previously. We were not disappointed as the tours we went on covered the South Island which was new to us. The position of our cabin was very good and although we were offered an upgrade we declined as this would have put us either bow or stern, not very steady if bad weather ensued. We thought the ship lacked the ...

Australia and NZ Cruise

Wanted to see Australia and New Zealand. on reflection too much time at sea and weather mixed. Hated lunch where the buffet was overcrowded and uncomfortable. Blue Restaurant not available for lunch. Too many gimmicks like Persian Garden. Captain was mainly silent and gave no commentary re wildlife at sea etc. Only saw him once walk around at Dinner. Our waiter in Blue Restaurant - Jimmy was ...

Always wanted to see New Zealand and Australia. Overall I am happy I went.I booked My flights through Celebrity- "mistake". I flew Cathay Pacific through Hong Kong to Auckland,NZ. The return from Perth Australia had a five hour layover in Hong Kong, a 36hr+trip.I later learned Air New Zealand had a direct flight out of San Francisco. My prearranged transportation dropped me about a block from the ...

Definitely NOT a 5 star ship

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We have only travelled with P&O before and have been very happy with the 4 star standard provided but for my 65th birthday we decided to travel 5 star and found a Celebrity cruise sailing from New Zealand to Australia. We were very disappointed as the Solstice was no better than the P&O ships and in many aspects fell well short of the P&O standard. The quality of the food was reasonable but some ...

First time on Solstice and standard is not up to Celebrity's usual standard.

Chose the cruise because of its Itinerary. Celebrity Sandards have fallen very quickly if this ship is an indication of Fleet wide. Library had no more than 200 books most of which were in German. Food Quality and Quantity have also fallen. Where we used to receive 6 shrimp in a shrimp cocktail there are now 4. One night I ordered a steak Diane and it appeared on my plate less than one ...

Service was lacking

I have been on a few ships with a Star ratings from 2 to 5.5. The Noro Virus that was on the cruise before this one made boarding late and we couldn't go straight to the terminal as they were still in the process of sanitizing the ship and the terminal. I noticed someone in this review commented that there was no water at the convention centre but there was bottled water and it was on the ...

Solstice Has Slipped Significantly

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Celebrity Solstice

We are repeat (Elite loyalty level) Celebrity cruisers. We had sailed the Solstice in the past are were disappointed in the current state of the ship and many areas of service. We had sailed the Baltic in September on the Silhouette (sister ship same class) and were delighted. Embarkation was a nightmare. The ship had experienced serious back to back Norovirus outbreaks (200+ on the preceding ...
