The Alaskan cruise exceeded our expectations- the ship was full of friendly and helpful staff- cleanliness was excellent as was the food and service. The restaurants are well laid out so you are not included in another table’s conversation - unless you want to be. The food was very good with an extensive evening menu. The buffet was also good and constantly refilled with fresh and tasty food. The coffe bars were also very good serving a flavoursome cup of coffee. Cabins are spacious and kept very clean and tidy. The cabins are cleaned constantly and linen and towels replaced daily. Cabin staff are friendly and very helpful. The itinerary was excellent with spectacular scenery and for us lovely sunny weather. The highlight was the Hubbard Glacier and how close you get to the ice that you can hear it cracking and thunder like crashes as the ice calves off the face of the Glacier. I would thoroughly recommend this Read Less

We have been on two cruises to Alaska but never in the summer. Whilst overall the cruise was very good some things on Infinity need attention. Cabins need updating. We were on the Infinity about 5 years ago and the cabins were still the same. We booked an Aqua class cabin and this entitled us to eat In the Blu restaurant. I cannot praise Blu highly enough. The food, staff and service were all excellent. We tried the buffet restaurant a couple of times and it was awful. Much of the food was spicy. Not a great choice. Not enough tables. We went in the Trellis restaurant only once and once was enough. The waiter was very aggressive. We waited a long time for our food. We booked three excursions and all were well run. Whale watching in Icy Straight Point, Gold panning and salmon bake in Juneau. Lumberjack show ( we have been to this show 3 times and still enjoy it) and Potlach Park in Ketchikan. We had plenty of time at all the destinations. Overall we enjoyed the cruise but te ship needs updating. Read Less

Having been on 12 cruises I can definitively say that this ship did not live up to the hype of Celebrity Cruise Lines. I know it is going into dry dock soon for a major upgrade but man, the wear and tear is visible everywhere and the staff are largely untrained and do not speak good English. There were a few very good people working on board who could hold a conversation but many you had to exhaustively repeat yourself to and then finally give up because they couldn't understand you. That aside, the itinerary itself was good except for excursions. These need work. Icy Straight Point Ocean Raft was basically a drive out into the ocean and back and paled in comparison to the day before where knowledgeable guides worked to ensure you got your monies worth from the trip. Likewise, the last day excursion of Kart Adventure, again, it was basically a drive out into the bush to bake in the abnormally sunny and humid day and then drive back. We had 100 times the fun on the same type of excursions we booked ourselves in Denali. Buffet had a ton of Indian vegetarian items but not much American, loads of "fish" signs that one could not decipher what they were eating (am I eating crappy Chinese Tilapia or a local fish?) Aside from that, we ate in the main dining room one day and decided that since it wasn't amazing that we would just eat at the buffet and not have to change our clothes to go sit with perfect strangers. (We like Norwegian much better as they don't force you to do this nonsense) We did have an unlimited premium beverage package and WIFI. The only problem was that you had all bars having only certain things and often they were out or didn't know where to find things so it was hard to enjoy this premium capability when you were reduced to one or two choices that you can get at home for cheap. In concierge class (which we paid extra for), the upside was special pillows to choose from but aside from that I don't see what we paid for...warm seafood based snacks delivered to our room and discovered well into the late hours of the night (as in when did they arrive? Are they safe to eat? What is it?) We just set it outside for fear that it was too old to safely eat. I would skip that if I were the cruise line. Gross. Cabins were cleaned nicely and promptly on a daily basis. Laundry service is $50 a bag...need I say more. Entertainment was from the 90's. I've seen better on other cruise ships, we tried two shows and walked out. No trivia games, other day time activities other than opportunities for the cruise line to upsell you on something or sell their goods from the shops. Again, other cruise lines like Norwegian do this way better....must have day time activities for adults that don't involve buying things. They did have a nice tea time in the buffet daily but it wasn't advertised which I thought was strange. Why not tell people about something you are doing? Instead it was listed very vaguely in the program guide for the day on the back page. I didn't even discover it until day 4. That's about all that is worth mentioning. Embark and Disembark was smooth. Back bar overlooking the ocean was the only one worth going to... Read Less

We travelled with 3 seniors in their 70s, my 46 year old daughter and her 14 and 12 year old kids. We had an outstanding experience. The staff was very helpful and always had a smile . Our cabin steward Cliff was a genie. We rarely saw him but even if we left our cabin for a few minutes, we returned to find things tidied up and our bedspread perfectly smoothed. We went to the entertainment 5 nights and each show we saw was well worth a $50.00 ticket. (though of course we didn't have to pay). We ate breakfast and or lunch in the Oceanside grill and found the food good with lots of variety. At peak times it was a little dicey finding a table. We ate dinner in the Metropolitan Restaurant which was an exceptional 4 star experience. We had the same table every night next to a window. Our waiter Arun from India was very attentive and helpful as was his assistant Nelson. There was an excellent variety and very well prepared appetizers, entrees and desserts. I really miss the wonderful food and their attentive service. We saved a little money by getting an inside cabin which worked fine for sleeping, showering and storing our purchases. There was plenty of chairs and lounging areas to sit out on various decks and watch the beautiful scenery. It was great that there was plenty for the teenagers to do. They particularly enjoyed the pool, hot tubs, playing ping pong and the disco. I went to the "silent disco" with them which was a unique experience that I enjoyed. We took 3 of the excursions (the Skagway train, the whale watching trip and misty fiords) which weren't misty because it was 75 out. I've been on other cruises and my only concern going in was the size of the ship. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't seem crowded and was very comfortable. Celebrity staff were all very helpful and I'm looking forward to using Celebrity to see the Caribbean. Read Less

We have been sailing Celebrity Cruise lines for 15 years. Our most recent trip was on Celebrity Solstice our of Seattle, Washington to Alaska on June 29th, 2018. Overall the we had a wonderful time at all the ports and had beautiful weather, which is always a gamble in Alaska. Captain Tasos was is by far the best Captain of any ship/cruise line I have been on. He had an amazing sense of humor and we looked forward to his message at 10am every single day. As I mentioned we have sailed Celebrity a number of times over 15 years and had been our preferred cruise line when we went on adult only cruise (our honeymoon, 10 year anniversary, and most recent 15 year anniversary). We have always been impressed with the food and top notch service, which makes our most recent cruise such a royal disappointment. Through out the cruise we thought the service was fine...which is, well...fine...no one was rude or anything, but no one really seemed like they cared to go the extra mile. Again, that's fine, I don't need special treatment, it just was quite different then the other Celebrity Cruises we had been on in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. We were also put off by the constant upselling on board. We were asked repeatedly about premium drink package as well as a lot of the activities on the ship had additional fees associated with them. The issues above were more annoying, however we did have one major issue that happened and the lack of action/empathy of the staff was beyond upsetting and disappointing. On our last (full) day we were sailing to Victoria B.C. We were not scheduled to get to port until around 6pm, so we had a large portion of that day at sea. We paid extra for Aqua Class and had a nice balcony. We were outside reading and when I came inside I noticed the carpet around bathroom was soaking wet. My husband then took a look and saw it was wet by the door out of cabin as well. We opened the door and asked one of the room attendants for help. He said our actual attendant was on break. Turns out the cabin next to us somehow overflowed their shower and gallons and gallons of water drained into our cabin. The carpet was wet from the door and ran along the bathroom, closet, behind the couch, and the bed all the way to balcony door. My husband and the room attendant we asked for help moved the couch and bed and used towels to help soak up water. The attendant then left and returned with two others to help. They brought in a huge industrial fan which was pointed under the bed to dry carpet and said "Turn it the other way after a little while" (meaning towards bathroom/living area carpet and left. Luckily we had the balcony because the wet carpet and the fan had a bad odor. When it was time to leave for our excursion, we saw our actual room attendant who asked if we would put our luggage out before we left (luggage had to be outside room by 10, and all on board was 11:30pm-it was a very late port of call). I made a joke and said we are all packed, but not sure we can get suitcases out with the huge fan in the cabin. He looked at me with a strange expression and it was clear he didn't know what I was talking about. So I explained what happened and he said "Oh, I didn't know" I know he was on break at the time, and he definitely deserves a break, but I would have thought since one of his rooms had a shower that over flowed into a second of his rooms, some sort of message would have been left for him giving him a heads up when he returned from break. He then was in our room and just kind of shook his head and said "wow, I think I'm going to keep balcony door opened a little while to help air it out". We then went on our excursion. We got back around 10:40pm and the fan was still running, and our balcony door was wide opened. It was very chilly in our room, the carpet was still damp, and the room smelled musty and kind of like dirty sweaty socks. Our room attendant was now off duty for the night so we called guest relations and had to explain the whole story again because there was no note about it. They said they would send someone up to take a look and remove the fan. After 20 minutes when no one showed up we went down to deck 3 to guest relations and had to yet again, explain the entire saga. Their response was you could have just put the fan outside of your room. We told her that the carpet was still wet and the room smelled really bad. After pushing she said she could look to see if they had a different room for us to sleep in for the night. She said to go back to our cabin and she would call when the other room was ready (there was a guest who got off at Victoria and wasn't sailing back to Seattle). So we went up and sat in the smelly wet room for another 20 minutes or so waiting for a phone call. By this time it's close to 11:30pm (also it was our 15 year anniversary-which Celebrity asked when we booked if there was anything we were going to celebrate on the cruise so we told them it would be out 15th-but it was never acknowledged, not even a piece of paper in the room saying happy anniversary-not sure why they ask if they don't actually do anything for their guest are celebrating. Just don't ask if you son't actually care). Anyways, they then came up to the room and removed the fan, and we got a call saying room was ready for us and they would leave door opened since our sea pass cards would not work for the new room. Once we were in there, we realized there was no soap or towels so we had to go back to our room and get that stuff and bring it over to the new room. In the morning, about 6:20am, we were awoken by another room attendant who had no clue we were in there because his record showed the guest got off the ship in Victoria. He was very frustrated as he wanted to get room ready for next cruise. We apologized to him multiple times and went through the whole story again and he just kept saying, "No one was suppose to be in here...I already had the bed made up" We finally just said, please go talk to Guest relations and then got out of that room as fast as we could and went back to our cabin, which still had damp carpet and smelled awful. We never saw our actual attendant again, he also hadn't fully made up our room the night before either. At no point were we offered any sort of compensation (only got to sleep in another room because we kept saying how bad ours smelled). However what's more disappointing is not a single staff member we dealt with during the whole saga once actually said I'm sorry or had any sympathy. Technically the guy who came to get the fan after we went down to guest services did say "sorry about this" as we took the fan out. The utter lack of communication was baffling. It was completely absurd we had to explain what happened over and over. Why couldn't they put some sort of note in our "file" everything else on the ship runs with your sea pass or giving out your cabin number. We definitely gave everyone we spoke with our cabin number multiple times. They definitely gave the impression it's the last day and we are in full prep for the next wave of guests/over caring about current guest. I feel bad for the guest getting on board after us who stay in room 1639. Your carpets will be damp and your room will smell. Hopefully since it's the beginning of your cruise, the staff will be more incline to actually care and maybe you will get the compensation/decent treatment. Celebrity has lost our trust and no longer is our default cruise line. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary in that it both departed and returned to Seattle. We were generally pleased with the cruise. But there were a few things that were off-putting. Our cabin service and the main dining room wait staff was excellent as was the food quality and food choices. The ship, including our cabin and all the public areas, was spotless. On the down side, the ship is showing signs of wear which was noticeable on the worn furniture in the public rooms. Secondly, Celebrity is a bit too pushy in selling their drink and various other packages. Another problem is the manner in which they operate their Celebrity Select Dining in which guests are allowed to make advance dinner reservations at a time of their choosing. In spite of having reservations each night, it took us 20 minutes to be seated. The problem was caused by passengers with no reservations who just showed up in line. Celebrity needs to streamline the dinner check in process so that passengers with reservations receive priority. Otherwise, there is no advantage to making reservations. Also, Celebrity markets themselves as a "Premium Cruise Line." We did notice any significant difference from our experiences on Royal Carribean. Read Less

We compared lots of Alaska cruise offerings and decided on Celebrity. We are so glad we did! DO NOT WAIT to book, book early and now. The reason? If you wait too long to book, they'll assign you to a room. I don't recommend letting someone else pick your room EVER because we were given an obstructed balcony. Nowhere in the booking process did it say, "There's a chance you'll receive an obstructed view when we pick your room". And then once the room was picked for us and we were sent an email, the email did not say, "We picked room _____ and you have an obstructed view". It's like they wanted to keep it a secret. So two lessons here: 1. Do not let someone else pick your room and 2. GOOGLE THE ROOM NUMBER they tell you in the email, regardless. You can never be to careful. Don't assume because you got AQUA class that you won't have an obstruction. (* I think * deck 11 is the only floor that as 2 rooms with obstructed views and yes, we were the poor souls out of the whole ship with the obstructed view). We felt like the Solstice ship was very nice, updated and didn't feel too crowded. (The only time you really see the crowds are lunch at the buffet). We also chose to be the AQUA class and the best part of that was the private restaurant. We ate breakfast in the BLU restaurant (only for Aqua) everyday. We liked that it felt less crowded, the food was good too! The other things AQUA class gets was not a big seller for us. You get fruit in your room daily and a carafe of tea . You get access to the sauna and some other area, but we didn't use that for a second. There's a little spa cafe near the indoor pool area that we recommend once you get tired of the buffet. The grill above the pool is also a good option, but the line will get long so be prepared to wait. And Captain Tasos is the best, you should always try to be on his ship. Besides the email communication from Celebrity that I mentioned above, OUR SHIP EXPERIENCE and the CREW WERE MAGNIFICENT. * FINAL NOTE, if you are traveling with a large family (6 or more people) they may or may not tell you on excursions if you'll be able to stay together. I.e. : salmon fishing in Ketchikan. There were two large families on this excursion and when it came time to find out who their fishing captain was, they were also told (and surprised to find out) they would have to be split up. Spent three days in Vancouver prior to the cruise. Embarkation was a nightmare, long queues. Carried our own bags when leaving therefore disembarkation went smoothly. The ship is tired looking, cabin was clean although the curtains, bed valance were torn. Bathroom had a musty smell which was sorted by our cleaner. Dining room was fine, great service and food was ok, ate here for breakfast and evening meal. The OceanView was a nightmare, queues, no room to eat, tables were not vacated and not asked to move even though there were signs. People were having to eat standing up. On the plus side, the cleaning and dining room staff were excellent. Entertainment wasn't brilliant, enjoyed the lectures. Port excursions were ok, I found all three ports very similar and boring. Enjoyed Hubbard glacier very much. In my opinion the company is only interested in taking as much money off passengers as everything seemed to cost extra I will not cruise with Celebrity again. I chose this cruise for its reputation. Embarkation and disembarkation was hassle free. The luggage reached rooms quickly. we were welcomed by our room attendant warmly. The hospitality was good; entertainment was good. The evening shows were mainly music. The catering staff was good and tried to provide best service. i have Indian taste. There were Indian dishes every day. We got to eat Paw Bhaji and Chole Bhaturay. There were two swimming pools but no one could really swim, you could sit and walk in them. However, it was a good experience in the pool. The outdoor pool area was mainly was for smokers. Even if I am non smoker I had to cross that for reaching indoor swimming pool. There was a lot of pushing to buy payable things particularly drinks. I bought alcohol drinks package but a lot of time I was told that a particular drink i wanted was not included in package. After disembarkation I noticed that i had been charged twice for every thing. I rang customer services twice and they agreed to refund the money but it is now three weeks since but I have not received full refund. Read Less

Just got back from a wonderful Alaska cruise.Never been or wanted to do cruising but wanted to see Alaska so decided to go for it,what a fabulous trip!! From check in too disembarkation was so smooth ,have to just mention the taxi queues are horrendous once you get off the ship. The ship was called Infinity what a wonderful comfortable ship,my husband and I had a balcony cabin which had plenty of room and lots of closet and drawer space, the shower and toilet area good size.Well about the cruise it was fab from start to finish The service was second to none wherever you went on the ship and whoever dealt with you.The ship was always spotless ,the food in which ever place you ate was top class, yes it was sometime a pain to get a table in the buffet diner but the staff was always there to help.Plenty of good entertainment. The naturalist talks were brilliant and they kept you informed where you where travelling and what you could see on your travels.A news letter was put in your cabin everyday about what was going on and where we would be sailing the following day or which port we would be calling at.We booked all our trips onshore which we were told were cheaper and plenty to choose from.We did buy the drinks package but still don't know if it was worth it,so think twice before you purchase because of the gratuity. All in all fab trip wonderful staff and would cruise with celebrity again. This cruise offered the ports and timeframe that best suited us, Vancouver to Seward. We had cruised Celebrity before in the Ssky Suite. This time we were in a superior veranda suite which seemed a little tight. There was plenty of storage space but we were constantly ducking either other and waiting to open a door or cabinet. It was spotlessly clean though and the bed was very comfortable. We had a couple minor issues which were quickly corrected. Our cabin attendant was super. In fact all the crew were exceptionally professional and friendly. Very impressed with the entertainment which was varied and all very good, probably the best overall of any cruise we’ve been on. Food in main dining room was generally above average to quite delicious. Buffet was spotty, some tasty, some bland. Breakfast was generally good. Hard to find a table in the buffet if you went in prime time. Qsine was terrific. Did not use room service. Table in room was so small it would have been hard for two to eat on it. Specialty coffee shop very good. We did not do any ship excursions as they seemed overpriced as compared to private ones easily booked online. Embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth and quick. Efficient in ports also. Good selection in shops. Too much photo hyping but we dodged it. Read Less

We don't do much cruising but not much choice in seeing Alaskan ports so had to do a cruise. Have never repeated a cruise line. Over our many travel years, have done four cruises with various lines like Princess, Carnival, Seven Seas, and now Celebrity. Seven Seas by far the best but also reflected in pricing. Celebrity is probably second. Service was excellent. Enrichment presentations were educational, thoughtful, and humorous. Wish they had more of those. Food was mediocre at best. Very disappointing really. Didn't appreciate all the up-selling during the cruise too. Wished they would just charge a fair amount and stop with the selling. Then I guess it would be Seven Seas and those lines. Was surprised how easy to disembark at the ports. Maybe this is how it is now on cruise ships since we haven't cruised for awhile. Overall, cruise was good enough and good value. Read Less

Our 50th wedding anniversary and we planned a Alaskan cruise . After research, decided that Celebrity Solstice was rated as excellent. Loved every minute. Ship was beautiful and extra clean. Crew treated us as totals. Captain Tasos was fun , approachable. Scenery was unbelievable. Can't go wrong with this cruise. The ports were all enjoyable. Excursions planned well and of Course, White Pass/ Yukon train ride was so wonderful. Would like to take another cruise to Alaska but think will try Land/ Sea cruise next time. There is so much beauty to see in Alaska and more time on land would be great. Recommend Celebrity Solstice to anyone seeking to travel with all amenities and be comfortable. Travelled out of Vancouver. The embarkation went smooth but within 2 minutes of getting on the ship, we had a customer service representative hovering over us trying to sell us beverage packages. He misrepresented the Classic package as the Standard package and pressured us to upgrade. We had a group of 4. I told him we would like some time to think about it and he stood right next to our table and kept chiming in as we were discussing. We weren't able to go to our room at that time because the safety orientation was about to start so we ended up sitting in silence until he finally left us alone. It certainly felt like they were getting commission for beverage package sales. Once the safety orientation was over we went to our room. The cabins were nice but a bit small compared to other ships, but our stateroom attendant was wonderful. So pleasant and accommodating. We ended up upgrading our beverage package but honestly the classic package would have been just fine. The service at the bars were good but they tailored to the gold card members. You would be standing in line and should have been the next one up to order and they would skip over you. Maybe that's a perk of that level of card but they would be better off having a gold card only bar if that's the case. One day we were waiting at the bar for probably over 5 minutes while one bartender was chatting away with some customers at the other end of the counter and he had actually walked away from the bar before he took our order. Don't know where he went but we ended up leaving before he ever came back. It seemed like none of the oceanview café workers enjoyed being there. They all walked around grumpy and had no desire to have interaction with the guests. One server rolled her eyes at me when I asked for a coffee and baileys. The dining room, Trellis, was amazing though. The portions were perfect and the food was excellent! Best French Onion Soup I've ever had! Service was great in the dining room. Customer Service / Guest Relations / Shore Excursions desk was very unpleasant. They randomly charged my credit card mid way through the cruise which closed my account (therefore I couldn't use my card for this "amazing" beverage package this guy sold us). It took me 3 hours at guest relations to get this sorted out. I went through 4 representatives and missed that evening's dinner and show and not one of them apologized for the inconvenience or did anything to make up for it. I told them I wanted the charges off my card and their response was "well aren't you going to pay for everything via credit card at the end of the cruise? What does it matter if it went through early?" (Fact is, I had already done the exchange rate into cash prior and to use that to settle my account at the end of the trip). It was a nightmare. None of them took accountability for their error and couldn't why I was upset. The shore excursions were nice but none of the tickets matched up to the signs on the pier so it was a little chaotic finding the right shore excursion. Finally, there were some good parts of the cruise! The Cruise Director Luigi was awesome. He kept everyone busy all day and was very personable! The silent disco was a lot of fun! Should have that on every cruise...it was a big hit! Uptown performed at the theatre on the first night and they were great! Got the whole crowd moving. Loved their show! Overall, the views and the trip to Alaska was good but I would recommend trying a different cruise line. Every line will have entertainment and good dining. It's the service (or lack thereof) that sets them apart. Cheers. Read Less

Getting on and off at beginning of our cruise was a dream...Got on board by 11am and sunbathing in rare Vancouver heat on deck (?) by 11.30am. So - life drill was a pain, it was very hot in our area and standing only, but I suppose it replicated real life possibility. Cabin 9070 in midships suffered from overhang and some obstruction from our balcony but it wasn't the end of the world. Our Cabin lad organised a kettle and tea and coffee for us, we didn't even have two ask. We were in Aqua class so had caanpies on sea days, free bottle of wine, tote bag etc, nice little extras. Had to ask for robes, they'd run out, and info to set up safe. Cabin spotless, though the balcony door was very difficult to open, something they sorted on day five of seven, and the towels had seen much better days. Needed binning. Good tv system, we had fresh fruit, toiletries and settee. Excellent. As Aqua guest we had our breakfast and dinner in the superb Blu restaurant, Wow this really made a difference. Limited numbers, fine different menu daily and service which was top class. The staff really were magnificent and so friendly. makes me wonder howI can ever go back to the crazy world of mass dining room eating. We just turned up and in we went, often to a fabulous window view. The ship was a little rough round the edges in places but nothing to affect our cruise. The lunchtimes in the cafe could get a bit manic, but then it is the same on all ships. We enjoyed the reception the captain put on for British guests, lovely touch. The weather was amazing throughout specially when we reached the Hubbard glacier. So the downsides - the constant flow on day one of people trying to sell you outrageously high priced drinks packages, one after the other, til i got sick of it. Moreso their shock when you refused. You would need to be an alcohol to get your money's worth - and remember you are off the ship three days so not drinking. We hate the US style 18 pc gratuity attached to every beer or glass of wine, soft drink they sell. Waiter pours two £10 drinks at once and you have to pay them £3,60 for just pulling them at the bar. Really. Price of being on US ship I suppose. Entertainment was hit and miss, we liked the bought in shows but felt Celebrity's own dance troop (sorry) was very ordinary. Nothing lavish, same old, same old stuff - they need an upgrade and some new costumes to match. December 63 were brilliant by the way. We organised our own excursions, which as the locals were keen to tell us, were vastly less expensive than this on the ship. Pools were fine, we got use of the Persian Garden as Aqua guests but search as we could we were unable to find the enclosed hot beds which offered views across the sea... there weren't any though they were advertised. Apparently only on bigger ships. Anyway, we really enjoyed our cruise. We really did. Read Less

We bolted this cruise on to a holiday to Canada Rockies and BC. WE chose Celebrity because it gave the better deal compared to other Alaska 7 day cruises. Checking in was fine but immigtation seemed to take a long time. Once eventually on board the first contact witrh a cruise member of staff was about drinks packages which was rather annoying as all we wanted to do was setlle in and look around the ship. The cruise itself was great, even better as the weather was excellent. We thought Icy Straight Point was a bit of a waste of time but enjoyed the huskeys sleigh ride in Juneau. Hubbard Glacier was excellent the ship being able to get up very close to the glacier and was proably the highlight of the trip. As for the cruise Ship Celebrity Infinity compared to UK based cruise chips (e.g. P&O) we thought it was expensive and at every corner Celebrity seemed to want to take money from passengers. Food in the buffet was average but always crowded and difficult to find seats. The Restaurant for dinner was excellent with helpful staff although 3 times our group of 4 had to send the main course back. Ou cabin (6000) was right at the front (just a window) and it did get a bit choppy sometimes in the night. Entertainment in the theatre was good what we saw and some of the lectures were very good. One of the excursions we booked didn't run and was cancelled at short notice. The orgainsation/advice to passengers shore side was poor. We would consider Celebrity again but are put off by the high gratitude cost and high general costs not helped by being in dollars so wanted to compare with UK £ all the time. Read Less

We added this cruise to our Canada vacation. Travelled as a group of six from the UK. Embarking was poor, bad organisation by staff, then the pain of imigration meant this process took a long time. That was our only criticism. The ship is oldish but the interior was in good condition, our cabin on deck seven an outside cabin was fine and well looked after by our steward Douglas who managed the area with humour as well. Celebrity always provide the best food on the seas, and they did not disapoint, great selections at breakfast, lunch and dinner in the MDR. The buffet upstairs was the usual scrum, tables being hogged by groups just wanting a chat. Not fair but also not managed by staff who should move them on. Our waiter Ben was pribably the best yead tabke waiter we have ever had, always served with a smile, offerred recomendations, extras and he and Sity looked after us so well. Ben even looked out for us at breakfast and lunch. A real star. Shubert our wine sommelier was also superb, always at the table when you needed him and ensured that the wines we wanted under our package were available. Entertainment was excellent, the theartre group were superb and we attended all of there shows, just one mail with a dodgy voice. Motown group on day one and a Frankie Valley group were also excellent, no complaints on entertainment. The highlight was the SILENT DISCOS, wow, headphones to select music, well attended on both evenings, just take your sets of to hear people singing out loud to three different music offerings, what a treat and we hope Celebrity have these events on all ships. The entertainment manager worked tirelesly to keep everyone happy. Ports of call, well this was Alaska. First stop was Icy Strait Point, they have made every effort to provide a nice port area, nice walking area to a few shops and museum, nice bar. Four of our group tried the worlds highest and fastest Zip wire rider. We were well looked after, felt safe and wow the ride was exhillerating. People of all ages participated. Ourvother two went whale watching and had whales dancing and jumping around the boat. Great trips and recomended. Juneau, well we decided to get a taxi to the glacier and falls, we found a lady at the port entrance who arranged it for us, Tracey the cab driver did not speak, never smiled but took us there and returned at the exact time we agreed, a short walk to the falls and glacier, very impressive. In town the shops were open and were ok. Ketchican, well who doesnt like a lumberjack show, but pricey and cheesey but we had a laugh. Then to the local fun bar. Hubbard Glacier day, well thats one to remember, captain got us so close. The air was so fresh and the views we will never forget. Disembarkation was much easier. A superb cruise and Celebrity rule the waves for us Read Less

Wanted to visit Alaska and this seemed an ideal way to do so. It superseded everything we could have imagined and every day seemed to get better and better. Could 100% recommend going on this cruise. A 5 star rating on all aspects of the holiday. Sadly we didn't see any whales close up, but that in no way detracted from the pleasure and enjoyment of the cruise. We will be looking through the cruise catalogues very much in the future due to the fact that in over 100 holidays, this one surpassed them all. The staff were all outstanding, helpful, polite and made cruising a delight. The food, as was to be expected, simply outstanding, with so much variety to choose from, I do not know how it could have been any better. So "thank you" Infinity for helping to create many memories which will last for a lifetime. Read Less

Though it's been many years since I have done a Celebrity cruise on the Summit, it was a memorable cruise and I always held other cruises to that standard. Celebrity is not what it used to be. The service was not very good overall. Particularly in the buffet area. The food was disappointing for the most part, as well as it's presentation. The buffet was so-so and the deserts were awful for the most part. Most of the cakes feel like they drenched in water. Possibly from unfreezing? The main dining lacked luster as well and same issues with food. They served things like cold lava cake and ice cream? Nobody ate it at the table. Every night I was hounded with the waiter trying to get us to eat in their speciality dining. I kept telling him, why do I want to pay more for what should be perfectly good food. The shows that were offered were good, but the cruise overall lacked a "fun" component. They didn't offer enough comedy shows. I think this was my last cruise with Celebrity. Read Less

This was our second cruise with celebrity to Alaska the cruise on the whole was good the ship was fantastic clean easy to get around we had a Aqua class cabin with a balcony which was lovely for sitting outside taking in the beautiful scenery dining we only used the Buffett it suited us . The entertainment was terrible out of the 7 nights there was 2 nights of comedian December 62 was another night that was the best thing the other nights where a waste of time the day activities included making a paper plane and throwing it through a hoop really celebrity !!! The staff on the ship were great porters, housekeeping and food and bar service staff but as for the other staff ie cruise director were stuck up we've cruised with Thomson before and all staff were very friendly. The service from housekeeping and bar and food service was excellent made you feel welcome had a great laugh in cafe every night with them . We only did one excursion as we'd done the rest on our first cruise they are quiet expensive . We spent 4 days in Vancover before the cruise that we enjoyed. Read Less

This was my first cruise in over 20 years so I count myself as a cruise newbie. My family went on the Celebrity Solstice Alaska cruise as part of a business conference so all of the details were handled by the business group's travel agent. Our cabin was a Veranda 2B on deck 6 in the middle right side of the ship. We had an unobstructed view but were above an open deck section so we sometimes heard people below us. The cabin was unexpectedly roomy because of its design. The cabin had a comfortable firm king size bed with couch (cushions removed for third bed for my son). There was also a built in with a flat screen TV, around 6 half drawers, counter space, desk, mini fridge and small coffee table. Above the bed was storage (next time I will take CC advice to bring flat folding storage boxes for clothing) and next to each bed were tiny built in night tables (not very useful). There was a large sliding door closet with the safe and lots of hangers (did not need extra wire hangers as per CC advice). Luggage was easily stored under the bed and under the desk. The TV system worked well. There are free movies plus movies for a fee. Your account is posted daily. The bathroom was really well designed with glass front storage and drawers. The glass enclosed shower was very nice. There were three wall hooks for towels. If you are planning to use the pools, I would suggest bringing plastic hangers to hang wet bathing suits. The balcony was the best! The sliding door was easy to unlock and glide open. There was enough space for two comfortable chairs and a table (the chairs and table were weather worn and probably should be replaced). It was a luxury to wake up in the morning and sit on the balcony. It was also incredible to take photos from our balcony when we were in the Inside Passage. Other: For your use during the cruise, there are robes and an umbrella in the room but no binoculars (cabin steward said that binoculars are only in the Aqua class). A free Celebrity tote bag is given to you. In addition to shampoo, bar soap, conditioner and lotion are provided. As per CC advice, I communicated with my cabin steward via post-its on the mirror. As requested, we received extra shampoo, he emptied out the mini bar so we could use the fridge for our own items and provided ice daily. The cabin was quickly made up in the morning and kept clean. Suggestions to Celebrity for cabin improvements: - need more than the 3 outlets on the desk - would be nice if we could access our photos on our room TV - would be nice if we could access the menus for the Grand Epernay on our room TV - this would have helped in deciding whether to have dinner at the Ocean Cafe or try one of the specialty restaurants. We chose this cruise because it was going to Alaska and several members of my family wanted to tour that area. The cruise ship was immaterial as we were looking at the criteria that matched our dates and ports of call interests. We got extremely lucky when we chose this cruise! On our 1st stop at Kitchcan, we had not booked an excursion. We decided to take a sea plane at the last minute and were fortunate enough to get one scheduled directly from the Internet. It was a great decision. After that we walked around the town for a while and enjoy the day. We were lucky and had excellent weather throughout our whole cruise! We got off the ship at the Tacy Arms Fjorge and took the catamaran tour to Juneau. Highly recommend that excursion! At Juneau we ate the obligatory king crab legs and enjoyed the afternoon walking around the town. At Skagway, we took the white pass trail train and were lucky enough to see a black bear. Our last port was Victoria, British Columbia where we toured the Bushart Gardens. It was our least favorite day, but it was still a great excursion. Captain Tasos personally made this the best cruise I have ever had, and I've been on many. Loved the cruise ship, loved the staff and had a great time! Read Less

First time cruising with Celebrity and whilst we enjoyed the cruise, it could have been so much better but was let down by important items. First of all, the pros : Easy embarkation at Vancouver. Excellent entertainment, nice balcony cabin, very good room attendant, good drinks package, excellent bar staff at Martini bar, very smooth sailing, great access to view Hubbard glacier. Met some very nice fellow passengers. Shore excursion rates offered by Celebrity were far too expensive and we found much cheaper similar excursions by investigating independently. Cons: poor value in ‘special restaurant Tuscan Grill’ having Paid extra to eat on this restaurant, it was very poor value for money. The food was hardly better than what we ate in the main dining room. We pointed out that our starters were cold and inedible and the waiter simply said “sorry, I’ll make sure your mains is hot” !! Service was very slow in the main dining area and whilst I appreciate its a large area, there was a definite shortage of serving staff and sommeliers. On three occasions we were not asked how the meal was ( which was mostly good, but nowhere as good as previous cruises on Oceania ) on ywo occasions our wine was not poured until after our starter had arrived, and then the sommelier failed to return to offer any more wine. The main gripe however is reserved for the Ocean view buffet restaurant, what a shambles ! This was a free for all and totally disorganised. We hardly ate together as one of us had to stay at the table ( which was very often tough to find with little or no help from staff ) as if we had left to get food, the table would be taken by other diners ( this happened once and we were left seeking another table with food going cold ) once food was collected, you then had to leave the table to get a hot drink, surely this element should be served at the table. Poached eggs were served cold in the middle twice, I wasn’t going to make the same mistake 3 times. Food stations were too far apart and not enough staff at omelette/ egg station. Tables were not cleared quick enough and it was a very poor experience run worse than a transport cafe. All of this was mentioned to the buffer restaurant manager who agreed with most of what I have said but merely shrugged it off that was that. We did not like being approached by staff suggesting we attend speciality restaurants and sad to say we probably won’t sail again with Celebrity. Read Less
