This was my 6th voyage on the Imagination, my hubby's 5th. He decided he wanted to see the Superbowl on the ship and the price was amazing. Our room wasn't ready but we got 4 drink coupons to help get us in the mood. We always have an ocean view room & when we choose our cabin, we prefer the Empress deck. Our cabin this time was right under the galley so there were lots noises. I'm a sound sleeper on the ship, noise didn't bother me. Hubby is a lighter sleeper & it bothered him the first night, then her was okay. We love this ship. The cabin was clean, roomy for 2 people, great lain E156. The food is fantastic worth goods variety. After having been on board several times, maybe we tale the foods for granted, but we have enjoyed all the menus. We try to catch as many of the trivia contests as we can, well, I do, hubby is the sports trivia whiz. We usually win at least 2 "Ships on a Stick" each cruise. The Superbowl party was great, better than we expected because advance info on that was scarce. Catalina Island is my favorite port. I did the zipline with my daughter Nov 14 it was fantastic. I had to cancel my zipline in Feb due to a hand injury but next chance I get, I'm ZipLining again. Ensenada is what it is. We enjoy walking into town and having a Mexican Beer, Mango Margarita & guacamole & chips at Papas & Beer....yum! The walk back includes a stop at Starbucks with free WiFi to check our phones for the last time until our return to Long Beach. Sea Day is a favorite of ours. The Brunch in the MDR is fabulous. We love eating breakfast early & then lunch. The chocolate extravaganza is incredible. Good thing I actually took morning walks for 45 min. Debarkation is very smooth. We were off the ship by 8:30 a.m. We are booked for May 25 on the Inspiration. It's been a couple of years so we wanted to try her again. Bon Voyage! Read Less

This was my first Carnival Cruise, and first cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada. While Carnival may not be "high end" I can honestly say it really was a "fun ship". The Inspiration is a smaller ship, but in a way that was nice, because it was really easy to navigate. Even though one of glass elevators was OOO the entire time, the other elevators were not crowded. Same thing for the Hot tubs...even though one of the two adults only hot tubs in the Serenity area was OOO, we were still able to enjoy time in the one still working. HITS - I really think it helps to have fun friends to go with. We were celebrating our 60th birthdays and it was a blast. Room - Small but clean. The bathroom was very nice (and small). Plenty of hot water. Food - Dining Room - The beef was outstanding (and I am from Nebraska). When in doubt, I'd recommend the Flat Iron Steak option. The roasted beef tenderloin was excellent, as was the Filet Mignon on the Brunch. Of course the Lobster...tails were quite big and they came with shrimp (had 2) Lido Deck - Cheeseburgers great! Mongolian Grill, really great. Omelet station. Brasserie - Only thing I could recommend was Self serve ice cream. Put it in a plastic water glass, add some chocolate milk and you have yourself a Frosty. Shows - The 2 shows - Motor City and VIP were OUTSTANDING. Towel Animals - I am a sucker for them. They always made me smile. Pool Area - Always plenty of chairs. Not sure why you have to check out towels...I mean who is going to steal them! Catalina Island - Parasailing booked thru Carnival. Very nice. MISSES - Food - Desserts - Anywhere. Pretty but tasteless and rubbery. ick. Embarkation - Ebola scare probably didn't help...but it took a long time. My advice - DO NOT GET THERE EARLY...BE THE LAST ONES ON. Pool Area - Security and the Hot Tubs on the Lido Deck - We were actually kicked out of one of the tubs by security who said it was a children's only tub. No Signs, nothing. Pretty humiliating. When I went to Guest Services to check it out, they contacted the Head of Security who said none were Kid's only. Ensenada - Don't bother. Read Less

I took the 4 day trip from Long Beach, CA to Santa Catalina Island and Ensenada, BCN MEX this past week. all in all I had a good time with a great deal for a solo cruiser. On the ship I enjoyed the Serenity area when the music was blasting too loud at the Lido deck pool area. There were many places on the ship that were quiet indoors and outside. The food was lacking in the buffet. The main dining was ok but not great. I did enjoy the lobster tail dinner mainly because thay had switched to Maine tails rather than the old warm water tails they used to serve, Service was great everywhere I went. I also enjoyed a deck party with a late-night buffet and cheering with the other MLB fans in the Promenade deck aft bar while while watching the playoffs. All in all it was a good trip for the value and not too bad! Read Less
